Really sucks I had a bad experience for the first time going here because the inside is cool. Security was on a power trip and really disrespectful to me and my friends. Overall I did not feel safe with the staff and security they have especially the head of security(I believe his name is Hubert?). Just be careful going here. There are a lot of better clubs in Chicago that have a respectful staff.

I decided to give Sound Bar a chance despite all the negative reviews I read to see HOL!, and it turned out to be the worst decision Ive ever made. This is, without a doubt, the worst venue Ive ever visited. The security staff is on a power trip; they will throw away anything they dont like without giving you a chance to take it back to your car. Its either toss it or leave.Inside the venue, the security is quick to shut down any attempt by the crowd to have fun, such as moshing. They hover over you, watching like hawks, and stifle any excitement. The stage is about six feet off the ground, with a glass wall that makes it difficult to see the artist, and there are no rails. The lights are positioned behind the stage, so if youre close to it, you miss out on a premium light show.On top of that, they charge an exorbitant $9 for a single bottle of water. Most other venues Ive been to, like Concord Music Hall, Base Station, and Radius, charge between $3 to $5.This place should be torn down. Take my advice and dont waste your money here. Wait for a rave at a truly good venue. If I could rate this place with negative stars, I would.

Absolutely horrible venue. Staff is absolutely horrible and shady. Their rules make no sense. If you happen to have ANYTHING they dont want, you have to toss it or leave and not come back. No matter what it is. The managers statement was You can toss it or take your business elsewhere instead of providing any form of an explanation. You have not even made it inside of the venue mind you. Absolutely horrible service and they cannot even provide a valid reason for their ignorant rules, and clearly promote you taking your business elsewhere. Thought I had found a good venue, absolutely not. Just like I will, and many other reviews will, I hope you take your business elsewhere where the vibe fits and arent harassed by staff themselves.

There are a few people that made my last visit memorable. Shout out to Philly who works downstairs, he took care of me all night and his service was impeccable. He’s also one of the bouncers and made me and my crew feel extremely safe. Also huge shout out to Angel who works the booths upstairs and Joe who works the door outside. Both were super polite and were very professional. The only reason why this place looses one star is because of the drink prices. You’ll end up paying $13 after tip and tax for a beer and $16 for a well drink. I understand it’s river north but still. I will definitely be back

It’s a cool place, with good music! There are two floors, with different DJs.. In my opinion, this is sometimes good when you are not happy with the music, but sometimes bad because you split the audience..I didn’t have any problem to enter (I saw many negative reviews related to that here..)I order a gin cocktail ($18) and sugar free Redbull ($10).We watched a Dj, so we bought our ticket’s in advance ($15 each).

Amazing location & events but the worst venue I’ve ever been inside off. Entry staff was dead beyond comprehension and security did not pass the vibe check…broken glass on floors, beer bottles & in house glass cups being kicked around into people, the stage is blocked on either side by GIANT support pillars, & I mean GIANT! If you’re not in the middle of them, you ain’t seen squat, I could go on forever talking about this place . In all honesty just avoid this place at all costs unless the event/person you are dying to see is worth the troubles.

Last night me and my group of friend attended Sound-Bar for my friends 21st birthday the night started out fine the music was going everything was normal after a couple hours we got burned out so we sat down on the couch by the bar shortly after a younger guy comes to sit down near us in the one spot on the couch I see a security guard come over and start talking with the man mind you the two of them are no further than 2 feet away from me and my group I continuously was peaking over my shoulder to make sure nothing was happening as the girls were in front of us and I wanted to make sure everyone was okay as I’m standing there the only sober person in my group literally just standing there talking with my gf playing Pokémon go this double wided XXL security guard start shining his flashlight in my face and telling me that “me and my buddy need to go” me being so confused I start asking what’s going on and he’s saying that I need to leave and I don’t need an explanation me being confused after paying 50$ to get into the venue and literally just hanging out with my group who at that point had been sitting on this couch for 20 minutes shortly after me just trying to get an explanation and trying to explain to security that I had no clue who this man was and how he wasn’t even part of our group the XXL double wide security guard called back up and had me walked out being so confused and angry at this point I asked the man escorting me if he could just explain what’s happening he just told me to wait here and he’s gonna ask the guy why we got kicked out he never returned to talk to me and in the end we left now I’m not sure why the security guard felt the need to do everything that happened idk if it was him just power tripping or him grouping us with that man since we had Asian people with us and the guy was Asian i don’t know I was never given an explanation and was embarrassed for doing absolutely nothing after spending 100s between fees tickets and drink this venue is awful the music was mid and worst of all the staffing led by the XXL double wide body guard take your business elsewhere they don’t deserve you’re money or kindness -10/10 and Mr security guard if you’re reading this do better homie don’t just group people together based on race the least you could do is take someone outside and talk but I’m sure ur little man ego played a lot in how you handled the situation hopefully you’ll do better next time.Based off other reviews the large mangled tatted XXL security guys name is Herbert well Herbert you’re a joke! 👍🏽

I will never go back again or suggest for future patrons. So many other clubs in the city with team members that are more professional.I have the utmost respect for hospitality people but when the line is crossed, all respect is lost.Soundbar is truly just trying to make money and hustle you. As someone trying to explore a sober life style, it was EXTREMELY disappointing to find a fountain drink in a reusable cup was $7.This is very disappointing for sober individuals or sober drivers. Typically for this reason bars offer soft beverages for free, $2 for a soft drink sure, $3 is even much, but SEVEN?I was wanting to fit in with the crowd with a soda in my hand and was so disappointed I kindly gave the soda back and immediately went home.Me and my friends will not be returning as they know I cannot enjoy my time sober with paying $7 per small fountain coke.

Pretty neat place. A lot of security outside on the sidewalk and they do check everything even a thorough bag check. Tickets check is inside right when you come in and the coat check is in the basement. There was no line coming in and a small line going out but it was moving fast. The ladies working there are very nice. There is some seating area in the hallway before getting to the main space. There are 2 bars in one of the spaces and a few VIP seating areas. Drinks are pretty pricey, 14 dollars for 2 water bottles so you can only imagine how much alcohol drinks are. That being said, drinks are good and strong. Another thing is that you could kinda sorta hear the music from the other area but its not too noticable. The sound system is so freaking awesome though and their light game is on point. Super dope vibes! We had a great time!

$18 for a Red Bull and a Sprite is absolutely OBSCENE. Even the United Center doesnt charge those prices. I cant even imagine what they charge for alcohol. Tips are pre-figured in to the total, so who knows how much the bartenders are tipping themselves. They tried to charge $25 for a cover at the door when it was advertised at $15 online, and when my buddy kindly pointed out that it was advertised at that price, the door girl very rudely and snobbily replied OkAy, WeLl YoU cAn JuSt BuY tIcKeTs OnLiNe ThEn. Too much sound bleed between the upstairs and downstairs booths, so it sounded like one big mess. Couldnt even go back out to extend my parking because theyre way too strict on no re-entry, and I just love getting price gouged to oblivion and only being able to stay for one hour. Where or where do I begin. Okay - I got it…Let me preface. I’m a long Chicago resident who has visited Sound Bar a few times in the past. Never was an amazing time, usually over crowded - but certainly attracts well known DJ’s. Prior to the weekend, I purchased tickets to BTSM for Saturday through Sound Bar’s partnered ticket exchange See Tickets Us.Upon arriving to the show at 1 AM COMPLETELY sober (BTSM showtime 2AM), I was denied entry as Sound Bar said that my tickets were already scanned. Not only was I denied, but wildly disrespected for asking them to scan again.Upon scanning my tickets again, the tickets were still rejected as “they were already scanned”. Please allow me to mention that NOBODY has access to my email and the tickets were purchased directly from sound bar affiliate. After being obnoxiously humiliated by the young lady scanning tickets, I politely requested to speak to the manager. I was told to move to the side (as I did) and noticed a bouncer approach. Since I was being kind the entire time and following direction, he didn’t make any acts to remove me from the side of the line. After waiting 20 minutes for a manger, another woman named Torey (not manager) approached me. After hearing me out (although it felt she was ignoring every detail), sympathized but ultimately said she couldn’t help me. I provided identification, receipts and the results were still the same. Torey said that I must contact See Tickets US in order to figure out the problem. At 1:00 AM on a Saturday, this was impossible. After settling on the fact that Sound Bar wouldn’t let me in although showing proof, I requested that Torey provide her email so I can provide proof to the ticket exchange that the tickets were invalid. She refused to offer any email, but said that I could call sound bar the next day by chance they might give me proof. I knew by her response that she was avoiding any accountability. This was honestly the STRANGEST response as I was completely patient and corporative. At 29 years old, there’s bigger arguments to be had. After receiving the same response over and over of “I can’t help you”, I left the venue and directly emailed See Ticket US about the situation. After leaving, my friends who were already in the bar saw Torey and this young lady laughing as we turned our backs. Honestly not sure why they even laughed for how respectful I was. With that, my friends immediately left the venue from disgust.Today, See Ticket US said that they contacted Sound Bar and that Sound Bar denied any refunds - and so See Ticket US would not be providing me my refund of $90. No further explanation. It’s my own fault for staying out till 1 AM, but as someone who considers themselves a professional and avid concert goer, this whole experience was absolutely inexcusable.Go to literally any other venue than this place. They won’t take care of you. They don’t care. It’s a slummy money grab and you are just a fish in their pond. Coincidentally enough I work directly with employee retention and performance. Sound Bar is a disaster.

I went to buy 3 tickets on their website, the only tickets that were available were for the next day. I did not notice the tickets were for the next day, and went ahead and bought them. Me and my friends waited in line, where we were asked to throw our THC Vape Pens away. This is not that big of a deal, because I understand establishments have rules. When we got through the line and showed our tickets to the employee, we were told the tickets were for the wrong day. We tried explaining to them that these were the only tickets available, and asked if there was anyway they could still let us in, as we just paid $90 for 3 tickets. We were denied, and were told that we can pay $50 per person to get inside. This was extremely absurd, as we just paid $30 per ticket for tickets we cant use, and now we are being asked to pay another $50 a piece. We were told we can get refunds from the website. When I went online to get a refund, we were told all sales are final. Sound Bar also told us that it is a 3rd Part Site so they are unable to do anything. This establishment does not value the customers who come, they only value money. This establishment does not have principles and does not show respect. This is sad to me, because the vibe of Sound Bar is actually great. It is just ran poorly.

If you are looking for security dont go here. The 1 star was for the line moving fast and the bartender being friendly. The place was a pushing health hazard. First the security is looking over the floor and seeing people being obnoxious. They do nothing about it until multiple people tried to flag them down. When they do they move the offending party a little ways away from that part of the crowd. When people started to push to try to get closer to the DJ booth the security just stood there looking at all of us getting smushed. There was no crowd control. I felt bad for the people in the middle who were trying to get securitys attention. That degree of pushing in a hot room with barely any AC and alcohol is a incident waiting to happen. Speaking of waiting, them having you wait 4 hours for a headliner without giving any heads ip whatsoever is terrible. Never going here again. Its a safety hazard and the security do not care.

Easily the worst club/concert experience I have ever had, possibly the worst experience I’ve had in public period. I spent over $500 to travel to Chicago to see Salvatore just to be packed into a room to the point I couldn’t even raise my arms which is nowhere near the worst part. There was this 400 pound man who was tripping Molly and was out of control. He was running into my sister constantly and I had to catch her a couple of times or she would have gone to the ground. We asked him to chill out cause he was gonna hurt her but instead of being a human he decides to make it his life’s mission to take her down. We would move to a different spot and he would somehow manage to find us way right next to us and continue to try and hurt us. Keep in mind this place was overly packed and people kept trying to squeeze to the front, which would push us into the people in front of us and then we would somehow get into a fight. I spent more time arguing and fighting with people than I did enjoying the show. There was security everywhere and they definitely saw what was going on but did nothing. I’m confident the only reason hands werent thrown was because me and my group had a flight right after the concert so we were sober and didn’t escalate. I’m sure if you’re from the area and are the absolute worst human being on the planet you will love it.

After reading some of the bad reviews about bartenders purposely overcharging credit cards, I decided to bring in and pay with cash, like that helped….the chubby white female bartender with blonde hair on the upper level bar (towards the left side) had other plans for me. I purchased 2 beers and 1 water bottle which my total resulted in $27. I gave her $50 since i didnt have change. She gave me back $13 keeping $10 to herself when she should have given me $23 instead. Fortunately, I returned in just a matter of minutes to the bar after realizing i was short on money and was given the $10 back but it left me with a bad taste in my mouth for some reason.Nonetheless, 2 stars because the music and sound systems remain fairly decent. But the overall club has officially lost its popularity. ✌️#prepandemiclifememories

Last night was the 2nd and final time going to an event at soundbar.Where to begin? This is a poor excuse for a music venue. Its 90% night club atmosphere and half of the crowd seemed like they didnt buy tickets to the event but just came from the nightclub section... which is unfair that they pay 10 dollars to get in for and I paid over 20 a ticket for the same entry??? On top of that I get kicked out for smoking a joint OUTSIDE and other people smoked weed inside who were just told to smoke it outside. It smees they kicked out quite alot of people for unreasonable reasons. Maybe they oversell shows and need to keep kicking people out to free up space... this is not how you get repeating customers. Im sad I missed the rest of Champagne drip. And Im annoyed I have to sell my ticket to Luzcid because I refuse to come back to soundbar.Security is rude. Crowd and vibe are wack. Crowd in general was the worst crowd weve ever ran into in 7 years of club and show experience. Completely rude, inconsiderate, and generally uppity and only concerned about themselves, their drinks, and getting to the front, even if it meant shoving someone else in the face, stepping on their feet, or pushing them out of the way. Gave away our tickets to another show we had at Soundbar because the experience was that bad. Good luck to anyone who dares brave the crowds that go to Soundbar.

I handed them my coat check ticket and then they disappeared and never came back with my coat and then said I never gave them a ticket. And tried to make me leave the club WITHOUT my coat. I refused, showed a picture of my coat and THEN said I either had to PAY again or wait until 5am to get it. Avoid this place at all costs. We were in the crowd for hours just dancing and enjoying ourselves, when three girls (who did not look 21 btw) shoved past us and spilled their drinks all over us. For some reason, they thought that was funny, and were pointing and laughing and mocking us. We didn’t wanna deal with them so we just kept trying to separate ourselves. They kept following us through the crowd and shoving into us while dancing. Eventually we told them to leave us alone and back tf up. They didn’t like that very much, so they started throwing drinks on us, getting physical, and then yelling saying we were assaulting them. Even the people around us were telling them to chill out, and random dudes were pushing them away. One girl just kept yelling how they knew the owners, and would have us kicked out. She said she was calling her dad and walked off. Sure enough, a few minutes later like 6 security guards came to kick us out. Despite us and everyone who witnessed it trying to tell them we were the ones being harassed, they didn’t care and basically threw us out. This was after spending $74 on four drinks. This place is a joke.

Tonight was my first night at sound bar, I’ve lived in the city 28 years of my life and it was time to visit. Unfortunately I had a terrible experience. It started with the fat Mexican American door man. We got in with special group and regardless of gender the men were allowed to feel the female guest for “weapons” my girlfriend was extremely uncomfortable when the guy came to search her he said under his breath “fuuhck yea a thic one” after the search my gf was already turned off by the atmosphere, once we were inside we noticed an alarming amount of patrons asleep or grinding their teeth around the the seating post. Pretty sure they were overdosing but they were protected by group of friends. This business is operating under illegal circumstances and they are hurting the community negatively, furthermore, the security staff is taking money illegally for profit for entrance preferences and is setting an example of segregated club preference. Sound bar is an example of monetary preference systemic selection. Every Door person should be fired for underage negligence because they are definitely not security. She was trying to explain to the door guy with the yellow hoodie the problem and even looked up her receipt to prove purchase of her ticket. He did not even give her a chance to explain: just pushed her aside(literally pushed her!) and told her to go back home if she did not have money! He poured 2 of the 3 drinks I ordered and I watched him put no alcohol in, then pointed to the time on his phone and told me he couldnt give me a third drink because it was exactly 11:30. I brought 2 of the 3 drinks I ordered back to my friends and a bouncer followed me through the club and yelled at me for not paying the full $24 for 2 small glasses of cranberry juice. The music and sound system are good, but bouncers and busers are constantly walking around nudging themselves through the guests and sometimes pointing their flashlights at people who dont immediately jump out of their way for them to pass - very annoying and inconsiderate. And finally, all 3 times I went there the place was a total sausage party (not gay, just all straight men) - why cant they promote the venue better so that theres a good balance of people who are attracted to each other? Sound Bar is a staple Chicago venue for all of your electronic music needs to be met on a weekly basis. The nightclub has had its share of negative events occur, but have handled them with quick action and addressed future problems being managed by hiring good staff. I have been attending events here for around 8 years and am usually very satisfied. The door person is usually a little rough around the edges, but does a good job to ensure that people entering are of age and not too intoxicated. The experience can be ruined for everyone if the wrong people are allowed in.The bartenders and staff are very friendly. If you know a promotor, take advantage of their codes for free access and sometimes drink tickets. The security inside are attentive and seem to care for the safety of attendees, regularly kicking out disruptive or aggressive people. Place is okay having two completely separate levels with 2 different DJs playing different types of music. Better have VIP or you will most likely be waiting in line. Upstairs gets out of hand (especially if a big name is performing that night. You will be waiting forever for a drink in that case and treated poorly if youre not with a big crowd. Worth in these cases ordering bottle service if you and crowd pocket books can afford it.) Which is why I scored a 3 star. Ive promoted and in one night blew big bucks between me and girlfriend on buying not 1 but 2 bottles of Vodka. Service was great during stay. But when it came time to pay up. Between me and 4 other people that had been paying 20 and 30 dollar tips throughout our stay. The waitress that handled our table had floor manager come up to us before leaving asking if something was wrong with service. Basically our ending tips were low to the server. Between 5 of us we bought 2 bottles of Absolute Vodka at 185.00 a bottle plus if you added up all the tips we gave throughout night. That waitress made 150+ at least from table. Well above 25 to 30 % plus compared to two other groups near us we were the simplest to serve, and acted in total respect. So I myself had not so nice words to give to management. Totally disrespectful I thought being that with tips we dropped almost 500.00 up in the in one night.

I will never go back to this establishment again. My group of 26 paid 1200 dollars to get VIP for my good friends 30th birthday. When we arrived at the club just before 11 the lines where long and we were told we had to split our group in half. Half the group could go in right away half would have to wait to go in. I was initially fine with this because I thought the club must be packed look at how long the lines are to get into this place. I was in the second group of people and when we finally were allowed into the lines, they were moving slowly but all of a sudden they lines started moving really fast. I wonder why this could be? Well it was because it was after 11:30 and everyone had to pay an addition 20$ to get in. So the entire second half of our group had to pay 20$. The biggest thing is once we got into the club after paying the additional 260$ the place was dead and no where near full. The promoters where purposely stalling the lines so they can rake in the extra 20$ off of people. I cant believe this is how they would treat people who would pay all that money for VIP. Once I finally got inside I started drinking and trying to enjoying myself. Our VIP spot was on the main floor but up 2 steps. Lots of people were standing by the steps and I was walking and talking and stumbled down these two steps. I put my hand out to steady myself and it landed on one of the bouncers. The dude got pissed and pushed me and started yelling at me. Its like dude common youre getting paid to keep your cool under pressure and when crazy stuff happens in the club and your going to flip your lid on me for tripping when Im drunk? My group will never go back this club after how we were treated by the promoters and management. If you want to get screwed over and pay extra $ go to Sound Bar in Chicago

But neither of those things bothered me too much. What was really annoying was the broken glass... everywhere. It isnt an exaggeration when I say that by the end of the night the entire floor was covered in broken glass. This bar is trying to be a lot of different things at once. Iron bar has a ton of competition, notably Spy Bar across the street (that is way more European Techno Niche), but they manage to stand out amongst the crowd. There is one major dance floors and sometimes as many as three DJs lined up to perform (that is the most I have ever seen). The music is the best (assuming your into great top 40 remixes), the club is well kept and really cool. Also, the drinks are reasonably priced for. the area (River North). The volume upstairs in the main room is usually Dangerously loud, and I like the music downstairs or in the red room better and you can actually talk to someone if you yell. Downstairs tends to be more hip-hop and pop stuff, upstairs vocal house. The main alternative would be The Mid which is also $20 and comparably priced drinks that are a lot better. The downside of the Mid is that its too crowded. If you want to leave Sound-bar you might also consider Crescendo around the corner for Vocal House or Spy Bar across the street for House. Crescendo wont get going until at least 1:30 though.

This place is a hit or miss. Some nights you go in and you will have a great time and everything will go smoothly or it will be a night from hell. The two levels with different music is nice if your going with a big group who prefers different atmospheres. upstairs is the edm/ dance scene, the downstairs is hip-hop. Typically if its just a regular night where nothing special is happening the place tends to be very dull and the staff/ bar tenders are mean. the bottle service there is pretty cheap so if you set it up ahead of time you have the potential to get a table in the city for 300$ which is actually a good deal. But if you do get a table you have to watch out for other people coming in the area and sitting at your table, which is annoying cause the security should be checking wristbands to get into the vip area which they dont. But if your going to see a DJ or a show you like than its a good place to go. If they have a big name artist there they tend to step their game up and make it pleasurable for everyone. lately I been going and they have been a lot better about drinks and getting you water if you need it (which is big at clubs that have producers come play for obvious reasons). They offer three free drinks tickets between 1030-1130 if you have a promoters password which is nice to start off the night. All in all its a good place to go if there Is a show you want to see, I would stay away from the place on a random Friday night tho, There are plenty of better options.

Hmm. I love the place. Always get in free and get the 3 free tickets. Ive never had a problem with the bouncers. Almost got kicked out because of a misunderstanding but they let us back in after I had a word with him. Two floors with edm upstairs, a red room lounge and hip hop downstairs. Theres a total of 7 bars in the club. The club itself is great you can always go from room to room to change things up throughout the night

Went out for a fun night and ended up regretting spending my time here. It starts with a RSVP scam. They say RSVP on the website and you can enter for free before 11:30 pm. We arrived at 11:00 pm and the line was maybe 30 people long but wasnt moving. They let in a handful of people over the next 30 min then at 11:30 pm started letting in people fast. Of course they said sorry you have to be in by 11:30 pm to not have to pay the $20 cover. Thats seems like a scam to me.Once in the music was ok but the bar staff were not good. Every time I went to get a drink at least one of the female bartenders was too busy texting on her phone to be bothered by us annoying customers. I even tossed a sugar packet next to one of the women and she didnt notice it land right next to her hand on the back bar. There is many great clubs in Chicago with great staff and service.Dont waste your time here.

Costumer service sucks! If you want to have a nice night in a VIP setting, I do not recommended this bar!The service is awful ‘from the door to the vip’! Here is what My experience looked like: You pay a lot for the VIP (which is fine, is you actually get what you are paying for) and first of all, eight at the door they say that you are not on the list (even though you called earlier making the reservation). And then, after you get to the actual VIP, they take literally 40+ minutes to bring the bottles. Since it was taking way too long I just asked them to cancel all 4 bottles and I was ready to leave to another place. But they did not cancel, instead, they just brought the bottles (super fast) and openned them so that I could not cancel it anymore.Just don’t waste your money if you want to get a good service for it!

Absolutely terrible service. Super disappointing worse club I have ever been too I will never spend any money here ever again. Staff is beyond disrespectful. The acts of prejudice against me I will never forget. They will rob you at the front and take your money. They took my money and kicked me out for no reason. When I respectfully asked what was going on they simply replied we dont want you here. Didn’t give me any reason what so ever. This place would get 2 stars but they give out 3 drink tickets before 11.30PM if you can get your name on the guest list. Any place that gives out that many drinks for free should get an extra star, in my opinion. The place is divided into two levels. The first floor plays EDM and the basement usually has hip-hop/rap. Ive had good and bad experiences here - on my last visit there were two female clients drunk out of their mind and grinding on each other with their panties on show. No kidding. On the other hand, Ive had good nights of dancing and hanging out with friends here. I definitely wouldnt go here expecting a classy environment, but then again, its a dance club. They dont really have a strict dress code - Ive seen sandals and shorts inside.

New Years Eve the Club was over capacity by 750 people. Bouncers were looking for any poor excuse to kick people out. The worst night club crowd management Ive ever seen in my life. One of my friends over indulged and was leaning over a trash can. They started pulling him out of the club immediately. His girl friend objected more intensely than she should have, and the bouncer preceeded to grab her by the neck and dragged her visciously out of the club as if he got some sort of sick thrill from it. I couldnt stand any man who treats a woman like that. Especially my friends gf so I proceeded to loosen his grip and separate them, the bouncer took it the wrong way. After dragging her out they came in and snagged me off the stairs and dragged me out, no explanation at all. There was no intent for them to communicate with my group in the slightest. They just viciously yanked and pulled on any limb they could get there hands on. Took 45 minutes to get my jacket from the coat check. They lost one of my friends jackets. They relentlessly abused people physically any chance they got. It was pathetic. The most unprofessional nightclub experience ive ever had in my life. The bartenders were great the music was great but your management ruined it soundbar. I hope you get shutdown.

I actually like this place better than some other places in Chicago. There are three dance floors. I didnt go to the lower level because they had hip hop music and I dont like it much. I went to this place to see Third Party. The main floor had progressive house/trance, and the bar floor had really nice and chill deep house music. I like them both! There were two lines at the door, a very long line and a line of two people. I got to be in the shorter line, probably because I was by myself at that time. BUT...the music is so LOUD and it literally hurt my ears!!! They need to work on this because other people say the same thing.

I went to Sound Bar in April 2018 and witnessed the staff practice unacceptable discriminatory behavior. I was in line to Sound Bar directly following a party of roughly 15-20 Indians (mixed male and female). The line had been moving relatively quickly yet halted when they arrived at the bouncer. After some time, there was another staff member who appeared and told them that they would have to go to the back of the line (they had been in line about an hour at this point). The group was visually frustrated and decided to not cause a scene and left peacefully.By the time they had dispersed, I was next in line and heard the bouncer say to another staff member “I’m not about to let a whole IT department in here” followed by some laughter. They then let my party, and many others behind us, enter almost immediately. This is not acceptable behavior towards a small group of guests whose only difference from the majority was skin color. They broke no rules and gave no reason to not be allowed entry.

Once you get in the club is fine, its a good time, and they do have some good DJs, which is the reason theyre at 3 instead of 2 (downstairs is much nicer but the headliners are upstairs). My issue with Sound Bar is the way they handle their lines. Whether or not you bought tickets in advance or are paying at the door, its all the same line. (Whereas at The Mid, for example, they have a line specifically for ticket holders to get them in faster.) If you dont get there early, the line is going to be a long wait to get in, epecially if youre not in a large group. Theyll start pulling large groups from the line and pulling them to the front. So my recommendation to get in faster is make friends with the people in line and say youre all together. Going by myself, thats how I got inside in less than ~15 minutes. But when Ive gone with my boyfriend, just the two of us, we were stuck waiting for a long time.

HATED IT!! Worst experience ever. Ladies please read! If you dont want to be assulted by their own staff!! I went to this bar with my girlfriend for the first time Saturday August 24, 2013 because we were invited there. Not only were the men creepers and disrespectful, their own security team was worst! One member from the security staff, Sam (about 64), approached my girlfriend and I while dancing and grabbed our wrists very hard and pulled them upwards for no reason at all! Our first defense was to pull away and he grabbed us again while smirking and giggling after we asked him to let us go. Mind you we did not know he was part of the security team at this point. He then walked away grinning like it was a joke, never identifying himself. We saw his earpiece and realized he was part of the security staff. After telling management and head of security, they put us in a hall to wait for 30-45min. Then the club manager (who did not want to give us his name or identify himself) thought that by giving us our money back we were going to be satisfied, all mean while protecting his security staff member who thinks its ok to assault and grab women who come to this establishment. Mind you we did not leave until 6am after talking to Police and filing a report against him and the club. The manager of the club tried to lie to Police and say they were clearing the club initially thats why security grabbed us (which the club had not closed at this time), then they lied and tried to say he was was asking us about earings. Really!!! At least if your going to lie, come up with something better. Will never be back here again!!! Places like this should be closed down.
