(Translated by Google)The “concert venue” itself is something like a large disco. Very meticulous security (this is positive), but a bad bar - cola is diluted with plain tap water, so a nasty taste remained in the mouth for the entire duration of the performance. The hall itself has already seen its share, but the acoustics are wonderful, even in the middle of the dance floor your stomach vibrates.Advice to owners: do not dilute drinks, make a lot of payment terminals.
Could certainly be updated on the outside however the inside and actual venue was cozy and nice. Great experience with staff - security was on it and also passed out waters to the crowd. The bar and door people were nice too. It offered pretty good acoustics, the air was really working, which is appreciated since it was a packed house. No seating really available and they do have a small balcony area in the back which was reserved. Great experience all around and would recommend. Cant say enough good things about security - they checked on everyone and really did a great job making sure crowd surfers were safely brought to the front.
Venue was cozy yet offered good acoustics. No seating available. Not easily wheelchair accommodated, but I do see how you could get one into a show if needed. Bar was good, staff was really great from security to door people to bartender. Great experience all around would recommend if you can stand for a concert
This was a great intimate venue. We saw Dirty Honey here and it was a fantastic experience. Sound was on point, staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. We had balcony seats and the view was great. Beautiful architecture. And it’s Ybor, so we got to watch the chickens while waiting in line to get in :)
First time here was last night for Flock of Seagulls concert. The venue, despite its age still was a perfect place for this event. Its was busy, but still this place offers lots of room if you want to step away from the congestion. Never waited in line to use a restroom, they were clean enough and grabbing a drink was easy with multiple places to do so. My only complaint is people standing on clearly the dance area, doing what they do best, nothing but record the entire concert. Despite, that we had a nice time, we even met the Flock by chance before the show, while having dinner, so we got photos with Mike Score and chatted briefly. If another good show comes to the Ritz I wouldnt hesitate to attend.
It killed. METALCORE DROPPOUT TOUR with The Devil Wears Prada, Fit For A King, Landmvrks, and Counterparts.Landmvrks opened and absolutely knocked it off with a bang, new band for my radar, plus I got a picture and a signed shirt with the lead singer whos a chill dude!!!Counterparts followed up and was great, but the crowd work was pretty meh, the dudes vibes did not match the energy, he seemed like he really didnt care. The Devil Wears Prada went up and absolutely destroyed it. We were sidestage and Jeremy threw me a glow stick and kept looking over and riling us up, it was awesome. I saw the lead singer of Landmvrks and the guitarist for Counterparts back there, but I didnt want to bother them. Finally, Fit For A King sent it home and I got to crowd surf for the first time!!!! I was in the pit like three times, but I didnt want to lose my glasses with my asthma acting up so I kept to the sidelines till my brother pulled me up to this huge dude who sent me up top. It was awesome and Id love to do it again.Overall it was a night Ill never forget and the crowd was so good. I saw a guy fall in the pit and instantly he was shielded and the pit froze till he was up, then it was right back where it left off. It was beyond the best birthday gift ever and its a memory Ill never let go of.Hell yeah Ybor! Hell yeah Ritz!
There are pluses and minuses for the Ritz.. minus first...There was one bathroom and a big line going all the way out to the hall... Add another bathroom with lots of urinals... We notice that! And if there is a line why not put a bar right next to it? Another negative is: if youre going to have standing room only then there should be additional levels to the floor. Theres a few higher spots.. but if youre on the ground floor you cant see much because of taller people in front. There was a huge line to get in and it was freezing outside... You have to find a way to speed that up! Drinks are like $15. Thats crazy. Why not offer a discount drink for like six or seven bucks? Knowing that everything was $15 and up... That was a bummer. We dont go there to get Broke. Parking was $25 across the street. There may be a slight cheaper option but my golly... Why not a discount for event parking. On the plus side... The light show is fantastic and the sound is fantastic. Those are huge pluses! Its pretty inside. So great job for that. Please fix the other things.
First time at The Ritz and it was a great experience. We saw The Midnight Friday 10/13/23. FYI: The Ritz doesnt have a designated Will Call window, nor are any ticket windows labeled. The employees were friendly. The Ritz is typically standing room only. They have several bars and drinks are pricey, $36 for a double rum and Coke and one Nutral seltzer.
I came to a show here recently and the staff were nice and the show was great, but I use a mobility aid and there were a couple of things i wish were handled differently. This is an older building and I dont expect any building like this to be completely reworked, but the seating area for guests with disabilities was a very tiny roped off section with a folding chairs. The way it was oriented was difficult to exit and enter if you had anything bigger than a cane so I ended up watching from the back of the section so i could be more free to go to the restroom or bar if i wanted to. There were multiple other areas of the venue that seemed more suited to a separated area for ada. Some of those areas were raised and had a few steps, and adding a ramp over said steps seems very feasible. There is no elevator and the group next to me in our section wanted to upgrade and go upstairs, but there was no way to actually get up there. I dont know the full story there, though. My other big easily changeable gripe is that there is one wheelchair accessible stall in the womens restroom and it was closed, marked as storage space for the bathroom supplies. Seems like that shouldnt be allowed. I apologize that this is so long, but putting at least some VIP access in an area everyone has the ability to get to and reworking where things are stored in the bathroom dont seem like unreasonable things to expect.Edit: i forgot to say that security kindly helped me get back to the ada section with a flashlight when they noticed me returning from the restroom and i appreciated that. I had no issue at all with the staff they were great!
Very cool venue, great for concerts and raves! Performance was great and had a clear view from wherever you were standing (mostly standing room only with a couple of extra charge seating areas). Several bars in different sections which made it very convenient for a refill with little to no wait. All bartenders had great energy, bathrooms were clean. Great way to start a Friday night out before hitting the streets of Ybor!
I used to work in nightlife entertainment for about 6 years, working for both a production company and a former top 100 nightclub in NYC. I know good events and nightlife brands when I experience them. This is possibly the worst club I’ve ever seen a show at. Opening acts were sub-par at best, which included some moron shouting into a microphone like he was pitbull the whole time. Nothing “Ritzy” here, just another underwhelming Ybor nightclub. The venue is pretty old and run down, with very little done to upgrade anything. Visuals and production value were outdated and underused until the headliner came on and they only played a 2 hour set. This place was so disappointing that I left an hour into the set. The event company running alcohol sales also added a sketchy erroneous charge to my card a week later. Next time I want to party, headed to Miami for the weekend. If you do go here, PAY CASH!
Recently saw The Aquabats and they were absolute fire. The security seemed well at their job and the bartenders were good. The ADA accommodations are a joke. First, no one was around to show us where the ADA section was. The ADA section was just big enough for maybe six people without mobility devices, and there were four chairs in the front. If someone was in a wheelchair they had to sit towards the back. It was tiny, and there was a person that wanted to be in the balcony and the elevator was broken. The biggest grievance for me was the bathroom. The handicapped stall was used to fill with their storage, paper towels and toilet paper. There was an attendant, whose sole job was to hand over paper towels, which, why do that. There was a stall with no toilet paper and when we mentioned it it was not corrected. Another customer had to grab toilet paper from a stall that was out of order. If there isnt someone playing there that I want to see, I wont be back. I guess thats how they can get away with poor accommodations, because people want to see their favorite bands.
There was an extremely drunk man in the crowd, causing hell for everyone around trying to start fights and touching women. It actually got really scary. My husband was trying to keep him calm even though the guy got in his face. My girlfriend was searching for security, and they were nowhere to be found. She had to go to the bar and they nearly blew her off saying security was out there. She had to explain that they were NOT out there. The bartender called for one and security came to escort him out. I am thankful security came, but I really wish they were easier to find. We were searching for way too long.
This review is a long over due. My girlfriend and I have been to a few events at the Ritz all of which were on a Friday evening. Not only are the performances awesome, but the staff is equally as awesome. Our initial experience was a bit intimidating with there being such a large crowd and us being quite a bit older than the average age there at the time. A huge shout-out to Lora and Sinclair who must have noticed we were feeling a bit uneasy and basically took our hands to ensure we were comfortable and setup for a night of fun. We also met a staff member by the name of Richie. Ritchie was one of the hosts who was very entertaining, very energetic, and constantly kept excitement in the room. We had such a great time during our initial visit, on our way home we were already checking our calendars for the next Friday we were able to go back again. A big thank you to all of the Ritz staff, but especially our new friends mentioned previously. We look forward to our next visit. --- Papa MYR
I don’t like going out, I don’t like concerts or crowds, but I LOVE going to the Ritz.A friend of mine told me about a niche artist I really like having a show here last year and the tickets were CHEAP! I couldn’t resist even though I hate concerts and crowds, I was hesitant to go to Ybor for various reasons but I’m glad I did.Regardless of whether you are going to the Ritz for a show, to see a DJ, or to just drink and have a good time with friends, this is the best spot. I have now been to 5 or 6 shows here since last year and I’m already looking to attend another 4 shows this year! This is by far the cleanest place to socialize in the area and the way they handle local DJ’s and bigger artists shows is perfect. The sound design in the main room (ballroom I think) is just otherworldly. Some of the best moments of 2022 were after midnight on the dance floor. One thing is for sure, I will be back as often as I can.
I have really enjoyed the shows Ive seen here. Right away i notice how organized and well managed Lora keeps the entry line and VIP entrance. She runs a tight ship! Once Im in, Caylee, the best VIP attendant ever! Always available, extremely polite, and pretty cute too. 🔥🔥Id recommend checking this place out if you end up in Tampa!
I am absolutely horrified by this venue’s blatant disregard for capacity limits. My friends and I attended a concert this evening and the venue was severely overcrowded. I have attended 70+ concerts in my lifetime, and have never seen a general admission event so oversold. We had to push our way through the crowd just to find a place to stand, and were elbowed constantly. There was limited airflow, which paired with the Florida humidity, made for an unbelievably hot and unsafe environment. My friend (who is 8 years sober, so this was NOT alcohol consumption related) passed out due to heat exhaustion. Thank goodness there were good Samaritans in the crowd who helped her and got her a (very overpriced) bottle of water. The fact they even charged them for the water when they said it was for a patron who fainted is disappointing and unacceptable.I will NEVER attend this venue again and highly suggest no one else visit here if they value their health and welfare. Would give zero stars if possible.
I recently went to the Harry Potter rave a the ritz and let’s just say it was an experience I’ll probably never go back too.First let me start by saying that the music that they play is awesome, I’m a gay guy that usually goes to gay clubs or the castle. I’ve never had problems with those clubs being myself. This was the total opposite of that.I had brought with me a pup hood (dog mask) to the event and went in to the event with the mask in my hands, the security were wondering what my mask was and they said it was ok for me to go in. I pull out my ticket to get in which went well. I get to the doors and my friend walks by the security but stops me and frisk me like imma blow up the place. It made me feel vary uncomfortable and unfair they don’t do that to everyone.Soo we get in get our drinks and start to roam the place, by this time I’m wearing my hood, at first it was going good then my friend had to go to the bathroom so I waited by the doors for her, all of the sudden one of the other security guards came to me and told me I couldn’t wear my mask cause they needed to see my face. (mind you this is a Harry Potter event where people will potentially be wearing mask) again feeling frustrated and a bit mad that I couldn’t wear my hood when I see others either wearing a mask or having them in their hands. About 30 minutes go by and another security guy come up to me to let me know that they made a mistake and that I can wear my hood. I was thankful to him for letting me wear my hood.Another thing that made it weird to me was that it was super hot in the building, like I get that there’s a lot of people in there and the hot air is from people talking but there’s no airflow, soo I did end up taking my shirt off for a bit to cool off and when that wasn’t working we went out to the lobby to cool off and the same security that told me I couldn’t wear my hood told me I had to put my shirt back on, stayed there till I put it on and felt uncomfortable. Next thing I know a shirtless man walks past me and my friend and I was like ok that’s it. This place is definitely not for the gays not that’s not my issue. My issue was that I couldn’t just me myself without some security saying something to me the whole night. Would I come back? Absolutely not I’ll stick to the castle. Was the music awesome? Yes it was a banger. Ooh and shout out to the bartenders they did an amazing job with the venue. Security needs to be trained better tho and if I need to get frisked so does everyone else.
The Ritz was my favorite spot for years even when they were the amp all my favorite staff works here. But after two years of not going out I finally went out for darude only to find out they have a no re-entry now that killed the whole night for me and my group. We couldnt leave to eat or anything which is wack. Hopefully they change it back to what it use to be.
Great place to see a show! Sound and lights are on point, smoking lounge is smoky unless the doors are open, plenty of bars to get served bathrooms are nicer than expected. bathroom attendant at a heavy metal show? You bet with lots of cologne from the 70s to give it a weird vibe. Ybor city, need we say more?
I love ritz Ybor and it’s venue and great concerts but unfortunately last night I had not such a great night. I am giving four stars for venue. Unfortunately I had a PTSD trigger last night and I tried telling staff what was going on but unfortunately the club was so loud that I came across as yelling and screaming. I tried to stand by the bar to calm down but I still wanted to watch my favorite artist showtek. But then the bartender told me to go away and talked to me like a peasant which upset me more. She basically did a hand gesture to shoo me away. Then I tried to tell the bartender that I am having a trigger I need to stay here so I can calm down but it was so loud that I had to raise my voice louder. To everybody else it looked bad but if everybody had compassion and stopped to realize that I was having an emotional moment then maybe I would of calmed down a lot quicker. I got treated like I was just some crazy person or someone under the influence but that wasn’t the case. I have been sober for three years and don’t ever drink or do drugs. I have been through some trauma in my life which none of that is my fault. I am not perfect. Next time I will just get VIP since I have troubles being around that many people considering my triggers. But I do appreciate the staff for providing me water and a quiet place to calm my thoughts. I just hope next time I am treated with dignity rather than disrespect. Thank you though for allowing me to stay and watch the concert.
I attended the Jeezy concert last night. Spent $100 per tix just to watch Jeezy in another room on a television in the Ritz. The room where Jeezy was performing was already packed when I arrived. The room where the concert took place has no seats just standing room and it was completely packed. There are other rooms with seats, a pool table and bar but if you’re expecting to actually see and be in the same room with the artist you have to be there early and expect to stand all night. This was my first concert at the Ritz and I will not be back. It was not worth it.
Good venue for concerts/ shows. Its standing room only, so Ill never go to another show here again unless its to see (Big Krit) my favorite artist.
Went to the R&B Only. Over crowded.... the DJs were great, but the crowds and logistics were too much. The back and forth of people in and out of the main area of the show was ridiculous. I left because it was annoying to constantly keep moving to the side for people to go back and forth. There should be an area for such traffic. I couldnt enjoy the event. I gave it 3 stars because of the DJs. Should be two stars.
Staff was AMAZING! very nice and helpful. best venue staff ive ever seen. felt very safe with them around. loved that there was a smoking room. i will be coming back! loved this place.
This review is more for the experience of #UrbanTrivia that I visited while in Tampa. We did have to wait outside in a long line before they opened the doors at 7pm. It was hella hot, no shade but rules are rules, I guess.Seating as plenty and it stayed cool and lively in this spot. However, drinks, including bottled H²O, as dumb expensive, are $5 per bottle & it was off brand and from the faucet. The drinks themselves were good and did the job but for $13 per 8 ounce drank 👎🏾🤷🏽♀️. The Mixologist were cool and got it right everytime & security was good too.
Best door man and security in the city. Niko and Zach are the best. Cannot recommend this venue enough!! Great vibes and great music!! Will come back for sure.
I was in the balcony, so I was a little spoiled at this show. The sound was clear, lights were on point, and the waitress we had was great.
Place is pretty clean and organized. The sound and lights are solid, with a couple of extra areas for drinks and such. The staff are very helpful and professional and it usually doesnt take more than a few minutes to get a drink. Its a nice addition that they have a different room for smoking, this way you dont have to leave the venue or bother non-smokers. Out of the major venues in Tampa/St Pete, I prefer the Ritz over anywhere else.
This was my first time seeing a show at The Ritz Ybor. I was initially very impressed with the venue. Lots of space. They had an act playing in the front room while we waited for the main stage to open. The bar staff were very efficient (and we spent lots of money at the bar, which is important later). Nice clean bathrooms. The main stage area was large and seemed to have good VIP seating/ views. All my issues with this place came at the end of the night.Apparently, things close down in Ybor at 3am. This venue cut the lights on before 0240... DURING THE HEADLINERS SET... For reference, I was front and center for Of The Trees and they killed the whole vibe. Since the lights came on, people in VIP started handing out drinks and we were sipping a vodka cocktail on our way out. We got to the door, knowing we couldnt take the drink with us. We stopped to finish our drink, still inside the venue, before 0300, and a security guard snatched the drink out of my friends hand and threw it away. I was honestly confused. We had every right to finish the drink but the security staff were being bullies. After all the money we spent and a good time had, they spoiled it.I really loved this place at first but the end if the night put me off it completely. Ill think twice before attending another show here.
Every show Ive been to had been a banger, staff is friendly, bartenders are quick. By far my favorite venue.
An Ybor classic! Its an old theatre that they took all the seats out of. The dance floor is right up to the stage. And the balcony overlooks everything Great small venue to see live concerts and great djs when it turns into a night club after 10:30.
Went to see Thievery Corporation there. Very nice venue to see a band up close and personal. Staff was very courteous and quick with getting us drinks. However drinks are a little expensive. 12$ cocktail & 5$ waters. But they have to make a living I guess. Overall game them 4 stars. Love the red room and thanks for the keeping the pole up.
Ive been to two shows here and both were great. The venue itself is interesting, having a little lounge area outside of the actual stage area, and the acoustics are pretty good. Definitely not the worst, but also not quite the best. The reason Im giving this place three stars is because theres exceptionally limited seating at the show area itself, and the seats are expensive. Very expensive. The last time I went, the price difference between general admission and just having a place to sit and enjoy it was about $90. If youre going to do general admission, make sure you find a spot with a good view of the stage and just stay there. The second reason is just the cost of drinks. You should always expect to pay out the nose for a poorly thrown together drink at a venue like this, but Ive never paid so much for a gin and tonic in my life.If I had to guess, Id say the venue considers this pricing appropriate for it being in Ybor, but Ive been to more upscale places in Tampa, Orlando, Ft Lauderdale, Atlanta, etc., that didnt gouge its guests this badly.Again, not a bad venue at all, just expect to spend a lot of money here. Unless you dont drink alcohol, in which case, youre probably fine.
Security kicked me out because I seemed off. WHAT A JOKE. No refunds no one to talk to, they simply didn’t let me in after buying a ticket and completely ignored me. Disputing the ticket and then get a message that they are fighting the dispute. Bunch of scammers.
The set up went well of the separation of the lines and scanning tickets the staff were friendly and good looking 😊. The DJ had to entertain the crowd for two hours because DMX wasnt there at the venue yet. He was pretty good but the crowd was beginning to get restless from waiting outside and then the pass two of waiting for DMX. Then only to still have an opening act to hear after the DJ.Although DMX didnt come until 10:50pm, my sister and I had a great time. It was worth the wait.
Great DJ selections if you’re into EDM. Pound Fridays are fun but a bit dangerous for the light of heart. Bartenders are proficient and attentive (on point!) The place has a lowdown, dirty feel. The atmosphere is grimy. This can be good or bad depending on you.
DO NOT ATTEND THIS VENUE. You will likely regret it. The Actual Bank Robbers are amazing. I pay for 8-10 of our friends to come here for the 90’s concert for a friend’s birthday every year. Tonight, I paid for everyone to have a few drinks at the bar and we were having a great time until….I took no more than 90 seconds to pee in a stand up stall and someone told security I was “sleeping”. Sleeping…. While standing up. Security approached me immediately as I exited the bathroom (fairly professionally) and said I was ‘sleeping in the stall’ while trying to throw me out. LUCKILY… the attendant popped his head out of the bathroom at that moment and when I motioned him over he confirmed I was not sleeping. Security let me go with no apology. I’m not sure what happened but this would’ve been very embarrassing to me, my friends, and I would’ve missed half the show I paid for. This venue is not worth the trouble. Find somewhere better.
Ive been coming to the Ritz for three years since Ive moved to Tampa. I love it. I always make friends and most people are very good about space. Everyone is mostly headbanging and dancing. The beats, house DJs, and drinks are great. Security is always friendly, and although its easy to lose your friends, its pretty safe to get lost in the crowd and find them later. There are a few bad apples, but overall its a safe place to honestly get lit AF and have fun. I dont drink, I just dance, and the vibes are always high energy and fun! Love this venue, still!
The ritz is a very solid venue its probably the worst indoor venue ive been to in lines of production they have a lazer system they rarely use RARELY so easy any other venue beats them they have an okay stage they could expand on to make the front of the DJ booth turned into a visual stand but they just leave it exposed with the rails and a couple lights this venue is great in the aspect of it hosts alot of Free shows and thats the one of the few reasons this venue has any business
Ive always loved The Ritz! They have great events all the time and the bouncers have always been super sweet every time I have gone! Truly an awesome club if youre into EDM and want to discover new DJs along with seeing some bigger names every so often.
Used to be an amazing venue..... now its just horrible. You can tell theres a new owner or manager the past year.... the place has gone so far down the toilet. Whether its the increase to the already overpriced drinks or the fact the security are super rude and disrespectful, and will kick you out for literally nothing. They also oversell big names to the point your packed in like sardines.
It was nice, easy to get in and friendly staff. The line moved fast and the show was great.
What a venue. Went for Virtual Riot for the first time and I was blown away by the production and size! Plenty of bars, and the balcony is super cool too.The 2 cons I have is the speakers, and the security. The speakers are ear piercing with super high frequencies and little low frequencies (still low range, but wouldnt say sub frequencies. Feels like theirs a cutoff around 100hz). So bring ear protection if you have sensitive ears like myself. I had ear protection and still have tinnitus from last night. The most important con is that their was no security frisking/check at all. Which in this day and age is beyond me! That is the most concerning part. Although they had multiple police cops near the front of the venue (not exactly at the front, but near it), its a very simple and necessary task to be handled.Overall, Id love to come back but I have really bad anxiety about no security checks.
Went here for a concert. Sound system was not great. Most upsetting though was the “bathroom policy”. Without warning or telling anyone this “policy” my group was told by a staff member “When the lights go on that means you have to be out. But there’s a 7/11 or pizza place right around the corner”.If this is your policy you need to make patrons aware of this before entering the venue. Also yes the lights might be on but we had paid to be in that venue for the time and were still in the venue for another hour due to the PAID meet and greet that was still happening. Bathrooms are basic human necessities and functions, very unprofessional to have guards making sure no one can get in just because “another show is happening tonight still”. Overall security was very rude and negative.
Easily my favorite music venue in Ybor.Nicest bathrooms in all of Ybor by far. Theres a bathroom attendant, its always nice to have company and be called boss while washing my hands. The free mints and colognes are a nice touch, if only they offered deodorant to general admission to mask peoples BO. Luckily everyone vapes inside so you can mask the BO with the various smells ranging from strawberry mist to churros. The VIP section is above the bar and to the right & left of the general admission floor. VIP is only worth it if you dont like bumping bodies with complete strangers. For more popular shows it can get crowded easily and be uncomfortable but nothing different from any other venue. One thing I would recommend to everyone is to NOT order Angry Orchard from the tap. It tastes absolutely terrible, nothing like the bottle, nothing like the crisp hard cider I needed to endure Animal Collective on election night. Some nights they like to make signature drinks about the band, I bought 2 Carly-ritas at $10 pop for what amounted to half a capri sun worth of liquid. If you want to get a buzz on I recommend heading to the stone soup company (one block away). They have a decent selection and way cheaper.I recommend arriving early to get the best view in the house. Theres paid parking right next to the venue if youre afraid of getting stabbed in Ybor at midnight and prefer to leave 2 minutes after your show ends even though crime has drastically fallen over the years and Ybor isnt as bad as it was in the late 90s and there seems to be a cop on every corner and the city has massively gentrified over the last 20 years. Its nice to have options I guess.
Terrible place. Booked a comedy show here and no where did it state it was all standing up. No seating area. Staff was rude on top of it all.
Wow. Great up-close and personal venue with easy access to drinks. Great atmosphere. Great acoustics.
Been doing shows there since early 90 s One of my favorite PLACES full of ENERGY different Genres great Staff, PR s, Ticketmaster etc ..everybody working in tune very satisfying and professional from my point of view as Performing Artist.Thank you Ritz
21+ and 18+ are two separate lines, be aware! The bathrooms are good. I like the Ritz. I like how they run things and how there are separate rooms, and the events they have.LADIES: I dont have a problem with the venue! I just have a problem with some of the men who go there to follow women around so they can harass or grope them. (This has happened to me twice now.) While I love the Ritz, Im not sure I can come back, because Im very annoyed about it. This hasnt happened to me in other clubs, but I really dont think its a management issue, its just the guys that come here.
The Ritz still rocks. We went recently to see The Crystal Method and had a blast. After all these years, they still manage to consistently get the best shows of any relatively small venue in the Tampa Bay area. My only gripe is that they should tell you BEFORE you take your $5 bottle of tap water outside to temporarily escape the cigarette smoke that you wont be able to bring it back in.
Cool venue booking some good acts however we just left The Midnights show and the place was so crowded that we felt packed like sardines the entire night. We saw the same band last time they came through Ybor at a sold out show that had way more breathing room than this. Also had a frustrating experience a few years ago when they refused reentry to a show no matter what.
Ritz Ybor VIP ExperienceEntry to the event was painless, theres a separate entry for table guests, after entering we were introduced to our hostess who was friendly & welcoming, we were then escorted to our table (VIP 1 2A) for floor plan reference see an app called Discotech & find the Ritz Ybor.Mixers were complementary with the bottle(s), Mixers were orange juice & cranberry juice, Red Bull could be purchased in addition upon request. Our hostess checked in on us often, she made sure our mixers were full & to make sure the group was having a good time. One thing that I was surprised with in regards to this venue was a smaller DJ booth & Bar area located towards the front of the building where you enter. Enjoyed that, it was great to have there to get the group moving a little before the show. The Ritz Ybor checked a lot of boxes not every event venue can, Sound system is top of the line, a full L’ACUSTICS was installed in early January according to their Instagram post in early January as referred to me by an employee. Lighting and stage were great, a massive LED wall made the visual experience worthy to match the great sound. DJ’s Danny Time & Taylor Lace put on two great sets. Taylor Lace closed out our night with some great house music throwing down some bass as well to show what the Ritz’s new system can do.The Ritz Ybor is well deserving of a 5 Star review, very happy with how our family was treated by the staff & the quality of the venue itself.
To me it was like bill Street I really enjoyed it its a place everybody to see in Tampa Florida is nothing like
Worst venue in Tampa. Great artists lined up to play but awful security/customer service. I happen to be African American and I’m given a hard time at the door consistently. I don’t know if my race or sexual orientation plays any role in how I’m treated at the door but you’d think in 2023 people could at least be a little accepting/accommodating for different archetypes but I’m treated with disrespect and prejudice unfortunately and it’s really sad to see especially in a city as forward thinking as Tampa. Wake up and get new management. Lost a long time customer tonight over a dispute that could’ve been dealt with fairly and professionally.
Went to this venue for a concert. Things got a bit out of hand with some random dudes hitting girls (we werent in a mosh pit area, we were towards the back and they had no moshing rules anyways). Anyways, after being thrown around a bit, I was so pleased to see event staff already kicking out one guy who hit me and easily escorted the other out once I pointed him out. The staff from security, to management, to the bartenders, and everyone working for Amp, they were all incredible and ultimately, Im so glad this venue was chosen for this event!
Martin the door guy has excellent customer service. He’s a great guy !
Only giving two stars because i enjoyed the concert. The staff here was super rude, they close off the restrooms immediately after the show ends, and don’t let paying customers use it. Would never come back here again. Eric Nam concert was amazing though!
What a dump.. .small venue, old and outdated. Ratty decor. Very tight space for shows with no good viewing spots. The sounds system was probably the worst Ive ever heard. Very disappointed. There was no AC in the hall it was like a sauna and stunk. The drinks were way overpriced and served in glass bottles during the concert. Young girl got her head split open 45 minutes into the show because of someones bright idea to sell bottles. Once the event was over Literally after the last song they closed the bathrooms imeadaly and was told we had to leave and use the bathroom outside. Wouldnt go back even if it was free , wouldnt recommend save your money and go to Janus in St Pete...
Straight buzzkill was harassed at the front door being searched. Theyre allowed to pat and wand not full scale Police search somebody. They violated when they stuck their hands in my pants and touched my body. I came there to have fun. I will not be back. Ill been going there for over 10 years and spend plenty of money. But Ill keep my money and spend it elsewhere thank you. You really need to train your security staff better. Before you end up getting a lawsuit.
My wife fainted near the stage and security wouldn’t let her recover in the sitting area before kicking her out. I had to carry her to our car.
Place is great, security is top flight security but I get it. Still though they pulled apart my wallet carelessly. I got important things in my wallet. Didnt appreciate any of that. Also saw them confiscating someones drugs. They definitely pocketed that to take home. They let him in though, which is cool.
Staff literally blocked the bathrooms at the end as soon as the music stopped and everyone had to pee from holding it to watch the concert. The meet and greet hadnt even started yet so we were there for another hour at least. It was incredibly rude to make people suffer in line all because of their bad management. At least tell people the restrooms will close as soon as the lights come on. Basic decendy is not hard.
The Ritz does a great job of handling near-capacity crowds. 🙌🙌🙌 The last time I was here the headliner NERVO didnt even start until 1 am. So when I saw the line wrapped around the building for Minus The Bear at 7pm I about left again. I was surprised how quickly security got us into the building, couldnt have been more than a 10-minute wait. The layout is great in the main room and also in the two side rooms before entering mainstage. Places to sit down and have a drink. At most venues in Tampa VIP is a joke. We are not Vegas. However the next event I attend at the Ritz will be VIP. Not sure if they have VIP bathrooms but the regular bathrooms are serviced well. 👍 Security keeping the walkway clear of standing people up the stairs and to the bathrooms would be nice.
This venue is a treasure in the neighborhood. Security was very well done providing a safe environment for a very mixed crowd.Dont tell Ron D but the drag queen MC was great. Cocktails and Couture tenth anniversary had a good space with good visibility for all ticket holders. Lighting could have been a bit better with more than one spotlight at the end of the runway to see better detail of the outfits.
The Worse Show Experience Ever!!!👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽Went for The Chloe Bailey Show. The Line Was Super Long And Disorganized. The Ticketing Staff Sent Me To The “VIP” Line And Allowed Us To Start The Show In The Balcony And Then Right Before She Was Set To Come On They Came Up And Made Us Leave Because We Didn’t Have The Correct Wristbands. When I Asked To Purchase They Correct One To Enjoy The Show From There They Said They Were Sold Out. They Meathead “Security” Staff Allowed (A Few Girls) To Stay Up There Unbothered And We’re Very Rude. Didn’t Get To Enjoy The Show Because By That Time The Main Hall Was Packed And The State Was Not Visible. They Should Invest In Some Giant Screens For Packed Houses And The Staff Needs More People Skill Training.
I saw Grandson here and the experience was amazing. Dont bring a backpack though, none are allowed. The security was nice enough to watch it for me but they dont have the capacity to watch hundreds of bags. Other than that the drinks were great, the music was even better. 🤙🤙
Brilliant sound system. The audio quality at this place is the gold standard for what venues should strive for. The main floor gets a little packed, but there was plenty of space in the back to dance. Sound quality was great no matter where you go. Great light/laser show. The Ritz is pretty amazing.
Spent New Years here with some friends. This was one of the most interesting nights of my life. Got to experience Benny Benassi which was cool but I had a minor medical issue while there, at no fault of the venue. It was beautiful inside, but really packed. I didnt drink (was meant to be DD) but many people seemed to like theirs! Long bathroom line for ladies, so if its packed plan to go to the line before you really have to go! Id recommend going to this venue with people you love and trust, have a great time, hydrate, and be safe!
Nice building. Clean. Went for an event. Hate that there is only one restroom in this location. Don’t drink and break the seal! There will definitely be a line outside the restroom and you’ll probably end of leaving the event early if you can’t wait in that long line. One stall is off limits and only for VIP.
Was pretty cool went to an edm performance great space. However the security do be a bit rough up in there like dayumn but respect to em they do they job I get it. They be lowkey scary lol
Great place! Security is on top of it! We had an incident where someone couldn’t take no for an answer, and the security was quick to remove him. Very thankful for the security at that time. Should be a little bit more focused on the crowds.. we saw some things that should have been stopped earlier. Pretty good speakers and good location. Drinks were average for the area, no complaints. Looking forward to future visits and shows! Thank you for keeping the place clean and safe for all of us!
Came for the Eric Nam concert and i really hope to never come again. Staff was disorganized and didnt seem to know what was going on. One lady in particular, whose radio bore the name “Laura Viscious” was both particular rude and seemed to be highly confused. The room for the concert could have been cooler - somebody was sweating so much that the stench of BO was incredibly distracting while trying to enjoy the show. Bathroom wasnt stocked and wasnt super clean and that was before the show.
Definitely has gone downhill. Management too concerned about the bottom line vs patron experience. EDM shows elsewhere in Tampa bay are superior
Very nice redecorated old theatre. Now used for music shows. Fantastic for a more intimate experience while watching bands. Naturally drinks prices are stupid ($5 water). Not sure about bathrooms but in general for the floors were clean and the place smelled ok. Security\Crowd Control took good care of things in front of the stage. The sound system is kinda done. Its in general a little garbled and I my ears were ringing badly after even though I was nowhere near the larger speakers. Overall 8\10 venue, which seems low, but its still my favourite venue in the Tampa area.
VIRTUAL RIOT WAS AMAZING!!!!! Wish the other two artists were shorter, really just wanted to see VR lol.
Kicked me out because of the people that were standing next to me even tho I hand no involvement in their group their security does not care what your doing or who you are don’t try to talk to people because if they get kicked so will you as someone who’s a promoter in Florida I would not recommend this venue
Great venue, but the bartenders are really sketchy. The girl at the bar will change your tip amount and fraud you out of a couple hundred over the night. Unless you have proof of receipt they can’t do anything, and the bartender doesn’t give you a receipt so make sure to take a picture!
First time ever visiting this place. Went to see Morgan Page. This club has three different rooms and a balcony in the main room which looks like it was a converted movie theater. The main room had a really nice setup with lights and lasers. Not sure if that was just for this venue or if that was their main everyday setup. It was a fantastic show. It was easy to get to the bars to get drinks. The bartending staff was friendly and there was plenty of security. I would definitely travel three and a half hours again to see another venue at this place.
Always a great time! Usually gets a bit crowded but can deal with that for the shows they bring in. Bartender in the main room Justin is awesome and very responsive as long as you say hi and introduce yourself.
Awesome venue, nice layout. And an indoor smoking area, 4 bars I think. Definitely will come back
Phil the security guard at the Ritz is a great help! He has a great attitude and personality. He’s responsible and easily approachable, providing help and direction quickly and efficiently. Overall, great guy!
Had a great time seeing Eric Nam. Staff was nice, bartender was quick and efficient. Super close parking and the bathrooms were pretty clean given that it was a concert.
We were there for the Infected Mushroom set. The bartender held our credit card for our open tab and when we closed it at the end of the night she said she lost our credit card. We put in a request with her and another male bartender to call us when it was found. The next day clothes from Shein were fraudulently ordered on our credit card and we cancelled the card.I will still go to this venue because they have great acts, great prices, and great vibe. I will use cash for drinks in the future.
Great venue and security staff are on point. Bar did a great job of adjusting needs based on the crowd and the necessary safety precautions.
Decent and redone recently. Cleaner and better drinks, lighting and AC!
Sound quality was great! Security was present but not overbearing which was nice, they even let us mosh with a guy on the floor to make sure things stayed cool. Will def be coming back again for another show 🫠
Went to a concert recently and almost passed out due to the lack of ventilation and air conditioning. We are in Florida, a venue this packed should have AC. They also kept filling the place with smoke which didnt help and I could barely see the artist.
I was having a good time Tampa Florida senior of the year. The bartender with the long curly mullet who was obviously on drugs wasnt happy with his customers. I was waiting for months to come to this establishment. No idea that you had bigoted bartenders . I didnt realize that ticket prices came with prejudice. Thank you for the experience
The other reviews are correct. I got kicked out for literally no reason. The security is absolutely ridiculous. I told them at least let me get my card after spending $200, and they wouldnt even let me do that. Clearly the security is absurd and terrible. I book artists and was thinking of this as a venue, but not anymore. Update: told them that I need my card before the hurricane comes and ignored me. Its my only card.
This was our first time going to this venue and we really enjoyed it. Everything ran very smoothly and we have no complaints.
As soon as I came in I went to the bar to get a drink and the bartender (black hair) was so rude. I asked for a beer, she rolled her eyes and ignored me. I understand that it was a very busy night last night and maybe she was under pressure but its no excuse. The rest of the staff were not very nice either.. It was my first time being here, I dont think ill be back.
Went to a sold out show here. Line was quick. Parking was easy. Didn’t pat you down too much. Place was packed but you could dance your way pretty easily to the front. Security needs to chill but whats new?! Sound was spectacular as were the lights! Awesome venue overall! Cant wait for the next show!
This venue puts on great show but like the other one star comments below, the security team arent professional and they fabricate stories. I have heard of people getting kick out for for doing nothing and not believing them until it happened to my boyfriend and I. We were staying near the exit between the bar and vip section waiting for snails to play and all of a sudden my boyfriend got pulled out of there club and told he slammed into the security guard and knocked the wind out of him. We both work in the medical field we have no intention of hurting people yet the security guard claimed my boyfriend looked him straight in the eye and shoulder slammed into his side. Then when he confronted my boyfriend he said my boyfriend laughed and smiled at him. First of all the security guard was walking up behind us with a light, so how my boyfriend made eye contact when he was facing the stage is impressive, also if the wind was knocked out of the security guard he would of been in distress, not continuing to walk past us. I am also unsure how he heard laugher when you cant even talk to the person next to you in this venue without raising your voice. Sure my boyfriend was smiling we were having a great time together after working a long work week. When he was pulled out the security, the security person adamant about my boyfriends intentions and actions he wouldnt even let us speak. My boyfriend appologized if he ran into the guard ans said if thats what occured he didnt do it on purpose we just went to to dance and see snails. They claimed it was all on video, they pulled a video that was only a few seconds long that showed my boyfriend swaying back and forth dancing and facing forward. The security guard was moving the phone as he was showing the video, I had to ask him to hold it still then he said it was clear as day he intentionally hit him and pulled the phone away, they didnt even point out the security guard on the video and then they cut my band since I am guilty by association. I have no desire to go back to this venue after this experience and I hope artists read these comments and learn they could have a larger audience if they went to a venue that didnt randomly kick out their fans.
I am soooo disappointed ! My Daughter attended an event there last night she was a victim of theft , along with many others , and there’s no way even to talk to anybody , suppose I will have get the Authorities evolved. So disappointed in the saff and management for the way they are not handling this
Good venue overall, brings good talent. However, BIG however!! They have a nice sound system and probably the most inexperienced sound crew Ive ever seen. Every single show I go to there has 10x too much bass in it. Idk what they are thinking... You can barely hear the nuance of the music because they just dont know how to balance sound. Could be great, but they choose to be average and at times below average.Last comment, when seeing the same artist at the ritz vs other venues around the US the ritz is always worse. I think the sound quality or the community really detracts from the experience.
Always loved the ritz. Gwar made it better!
Pretty venue, security was ok (one girl had to get pulled out, they did that quickly), sound and lighting was good, cant say much about the bar cause i can’t drink. the only issues i had with the venue was their horrible communication, and them having NO RULES ON THEIR WEBSITE. i had emailed them about their bag policies, got one response, and when i emailed back, no response at all. it took a while to find their rules, but they didn’t really follow those. they also had a stupid $5 fee for those under 21, luckily they didn’t ask anyone for that $5, the band we were going to see was trying to wave it.the venue REALLY needs to do better about communication, and they need to fix up their website and add the rules. like, seriously. it shouldn’t take DAYS to try and find the rules for the venue. i haven’t had this issue with any other venue i’ve been to.
For me this is the best venue in ybor city. This place has all your EDM wants and desires. Wubz for dayzzz. 🫨😵💫😵
The venue was amazing, the drink prices were pretty expensive. The overall experience was amazing. The staff was great. The bartender remembered my name and my drink with a venue of over 200 patrons. Two thumbs up I would definitely go back if there was a band I wanted to see that was performing there.
Went last night to see Mau P and the show was great had lots of fun with my girlfriend and her family can’t wait to see another show
No water???is the venue pretty? yeahthey also seem well staffedbut what venue in their right mind would not give out cups of water to the people attending a concert.people will jump, scream, mosh and get dehydrated, very fast. people will pass out. this is the first venue ive been to that refuses to provide water. ridiculous.
I LOVE this venue! YES, tickets can be a little pricey, but for the added security, and the quality of the venue, cleanliness, sound, and staff, it is WELL worth it! I am always thrilled to see a band or artist I like perform here! They also have been consistently hosting great metal bands which is such a good support for the local metal community - keep it up!
Great little venue, but I would say it is not conducive to certain types of shows or events. If youre looking to watch and enjoy an artist rather than primarily dancing and enjoying say like a DJ it kind of sucks. It gets really packed and you can barely get into the main room, but if it were to be say an EDM show I feel it it would serve its purpose well.Smoking room is available, the have pool tables, and a main dance hall/stage with a very small loft.Bathrooms are clean.
Went for trap kareoke. The place is large with several bars and a nice sized stage. The sound system throughout the venue is good
Attended the Paul Van Dyk Concert (amazing performance by the DJs btw…they were great). Table attendees (yes we had a table service and spend probably easy $1000 on drinks) were courteous and good, door staff and security however do not belong in this business as they were rude, not professional and did not have the safety and security of customers as their priority. Especially fromthe aspect of security this place is horrible and will never get our business again. Very disappointing and we can not fathom how the security is putting such a bad taste in people’s mouths so they don’t want to give their business anymore.
Intimate venue, and not a bad spot in the house. The sound is always great, and usually can find some good artists here. Restrooms stay clean, and the attendants are friendly as is most of the staff. My only area of improvement would be for the bars. Ive been here a few times and whether slammed, slow, or casually steady it always takes a while to get a drink/cash out with a card. Other than patience needed at the bar its a good place to catch a show.
I love this place! The security and team associates are always doing their best to have a smoothie venue whenever I’ve been there. They try to keep the place clean with as much traffic as there is that comes into the place, which is ALOT! I love it there! Many rooms set up with different vibes. They have pool tables. The drinks are a bit pricey but that’s the only downfall. Great place for venues though.
My friends and i went their for a concert a cpl of Sundays ago. We had a great time! The staff was friendly and efficient. From the ticket entrance, to security, to the bartenders, and even the manager, everyone was great!Jamie the bartender and the hunky Manger constantly checked on us and made sure we were good and having a great time. You should definitely check out this venue!
Saw The Black Dahlia Murder. Really this review is for them. The drinks were overpriced as they always are, dirty but spacious and amazing tribute to Trevor. Thanks for letting them play here.
The Ritz never disappoints and definitely has had some great line ups this year...definitely a must when you hit the Ybor strip!
Had a great concert experience here seeing Dashboard Confessional. I was happy to be on one of the raised platforms to the side, but there was a bit of shoving going on which I didn’t enjoy. There is also a large floor space, but I stayed out of this area because I need my “space” and don’t enjoy being pushed around at a concert.Acoustics were good and I had a nice time. Didn’t really go to the bar after we saw some prices for the drinks.I’d go back and try it again. Could use a little updating and maintenance work, but nice little venue in Ybor.
This is where the EDM scene is mostly held. They have DJ from all over the world to come play here. On regular nights they do have guest list which is great too if you dont wanna spend money. You could also be a baller and get a table and thats worth it sometimes because it can get very crowded in there. This is pretty much a EDM club and rave for most of the time. All kinds of music, Dubs and wubs, electronic, techno, house, you get the idea.
