This is the BEST southern nights. Every time I come here I have such an amazing time! I definitely recommend it if you’re looking to have a great night!

Nice staff and perfect for early shows! Staff has been updated since a few years ago and now they have amazing shows back to back. I purchased a ticket and was able to stay for all three shows. Then it got a little too packed with people so I moved on.

Absolutely horrible. Staff consistently had a bad attitude. The person who checked IDs was extremely rude, not to mention unfriendly. Never come here

Disappointing. Very stuffy atmosphere. Don’t make the mistake of walking into the “private party” room that’s selectively watched over by egotistical security that can’t comprehend basic communication skills. Not worth the cover!! There are better gay bars in Ybor that don’t charge a cover and employ mentally stable security. Fun is elsewhere!!

Great show when I went last weekend. I did get dropped off with friends so it was easier to not park. They do charge $20 to anyone who isnt 21 or older. My phone was NOT stolen, I would advise you to watch your stuff as you do with any club you go to, but thats normal. I gave four stars just because the loud speakers did hurt my ears a little. It was a very accepting place and open to anyone.

Really loved this club and thought it was a safe space for my bisexual self, but had my night ruined by thieves and inattentive staff. Phone was stolen right off of me and (apparently) made its way to Miami. Staff wasn’t helpful, and I understand that not much can be done once it’s already happened. HOWEVER. With how many people get their phones stolen and people theorizing the club is in on it I would think Southern Nights would make greater efforts of prevention. I haven’t been back since and it was a big loss for me at the time being an independent student just trying to get by. Also, unrelated, but I had a Long Island Iced Tea and two Vodka Crans and didn’t even get effed up. Weak sauce.

Had a blast! First time here and I love the two sides. It is a bit tight on the door side and sometimes unbearable however, take a breather on the other side and jump back into the dance floor later. Amazing bartenders and drinks, great drag shows, great go go dancers. Overall 9.5 out of 10!

If your looking for a night out with great music and great entertainment in the Pride Area of Ybor this is your Spot. Came for vacation and enjoyed myself for a night out.

We went here for a burlesque show, expecting the venue to be a theater called red velvet. When we got there I realized I had lost my ID but the manager Mark went above and beyond & was able to save the day by helping me access my smart ID on the state website! We ended up staying the entire night here to see all of the shows following the burlesque show. All of the staff was very nice, the drinks were good, and the performances were excellent!

Service only if youre LGBTQ. Otherwise, you wait. Thats discrimination and disgusting. Tried them based on a recommendation, but I will not recommend them.

Went here on 3/4/23 to celebrate a friends birthday. Our group consisted of mostly newer moms who never go out. As I walked through the crowd, trying to find my friends, someone managed to unzip my purse and steal my phone. It happened so fast. Once I found my friends, I was told another person from our group had their phone stolen from her purse as well. I go outside and talk to security, they tell me to talk to the front door person. Her response was that they have a known issue with pickpocketing and that there is nothing they can do about it. I went and talked to the police and they said the same thing. As we waited outside, multiple people came out stating their phones were stolen from their closed bags. Clearly this was organized and mostly likely multiple people. This establishment saw it happening in real time and could tell the people doing this were still inside actively stealing phones. At least 20 people, if not more, had their phones stolen that night, in the short time I was there. They could have made an announcement to alert the people inside to stop this from happening to more people, but they didn’t. They didn’t care. This is NOT a safe space for people to go. I would never go back there and please be very cautious if you go here.

Did not feel welcome. Unfriendly staff members and patrons. No where to sit. Plays top 40 garbage pop music. $20 for entry and 2 well vodka drinks. Totally disappointing.

Seems Southern night has security that like target people and kick them out them club they dont likeBeen coming there for years. You can do better with piety security guard that needs to lose weight if want step to me. Ill hurt bro in this club. He dont even know

If you go here (which I would not recommend) keep your phone on a leash. On any busy night this place has at least 20+ phones stolen and they do absolutely nothing about it. It’s been happening for years. I have never been anywhere else that has this issue in Tampa so clearly it can be avoided. Not a safe space, which is extremely unfortunate since it’s an LGBTQ club. Do better southern nights.

This place seen 3 shows. They were awesome. Bartender was the best. Had so much fun. Worth every penny

I loved southern nights so deeply. Ive had some of the best times there. However, on March 11th 2023, I went to go see Sasha Colby preform, and had my phone stolen. It breaks my heart to say this, but I will never be returning here. I can never be able to come to this establishment and feel my at most safest because of these robberies. This issue must be resolved.

They are incredibly rude and inappropriate and stepped out of line completely.

We had a good time up until our phone was stolen! It’s a Blue iPhone 13(with a picture of a woman as wallpaper)! They took it from our pocket & left the case with us smh, def not their first time doing that. Karma will definitely get them! What goes around, comes around.It’s crazy how messed up & selfish people really are, robbed us of a goodnight. The club was packed as well & the bar tenders will ignore you.

We had a very bad experience here. My husband had a phone stolen here. After reading all of the reviews here. I can say we are not the only one. Will never come back here again. its like you have a syndicate of thieves here

The music is really good but even though they have signs up saying no smoking allowed inside everybody was vaping and Im allergic to nicotine so I had two asthma attacks while there. The bouncer was super great in getting me water when I ran outside to get air to breathe but it sucked cuz I even saw one of the bartenders vaping. If theyre going to have a rule they should enforce it so that everyone can be safe and able to breathe in their club. Only gave the two stars because of the music and the bouncer. I will never go there again and anyone who doesnt like nicotine smoke or is allergic like me shouldnt either.

Exceptional LGBT nightlife spot in the heart of a multicultural destination spot, YBOR CITY! This bar provides multiple types of entertainment fromLocal starlets to international DJ’s. Southern Nights gives you everything from the Neighbearhood TAKEOVER to Mother Yummy Ninja’s ballroom, the do you think you can drag competition hosted by Jade Embers and Gia Banks, and all in-between. My favorite feature is Power Infiniti’s Queen of the Night the longest drag/ nightlife entertainer focused competition in Florida. They give a chance to young stars and starlets the chance to compete and be showcased for bookings and cash. This is a great venue that should be celebrated for their inclusion.

Great place to start the evening. Staff was so friendly and drinks weren’t over poured or over priced. We started at the first of three shows starting at 6pm. Show and bar was a great start to the evening before heading to dinner. Great for couples night out!

DO NOT GO HERE unless you want hearing loss. They do not regulate sound equipment and speakers. While you’re there you might think that the music volume and bass is fine but once you leave your hearing abilities will be almost gone. Please be aware of this since most people dismiss it because they’re drinking/ having fun.If you do go, wear protective ear plugs and do consecutive breaks outside to ensure you’re okay.

If you want you phone stolen go to this bar. The bar is in on it. Actually this makes me think.... 20 phones a night at 500 a phone is $10,000. The bar makes 40% of the profits of the pick pockets. So the bar makes $4,000 plus the drinks every night so thats a good business plan I guess......

I’ve had amazing experiences here but a lot of the staff(specifically short white woman bouncer with short hair) is extremely rude and aggressive. Also pickpocketing has been a consistent problem here and management doesn’t seem to care.

I had an amazing time at this place I was with some friends.. I tipped a bartender $20 to take his shirt off it was awesome it cost me $10 to get in because I am 21 and Over all others its $15 which I thinks reasonable to get into a place and I had a great time

Terrible place full of rude people. Security made me get out of my seat to tell me to back off very aggressively. Weird environment! Will never go back. Would give zero stars if I could.Edit: it only gets worse. They charged me a 103% tip. This has never happened to me before. Luckily I do very well, so not much of an issue. This cant be legal.

Why doesn’t this bar have ANY security? Myself and 2 friends had our phones pitpocketed on 1/29/22. Reported it to the manager and was told 17 phones were stolen the night prior and there was nothing they can do. Good place to visit if you enjoy dancing with low class, criminal clientele and no security. Tampa police are involved. Bathrooms are absolutely disgusting and the drinks are inconsistent. Will never go back.

Fun place to dance and have a good time. Also, great drink specials through the week.

Myself along with 4 other friends were all pick pocketed and our phones were stolen. When we brought it to bartenders attention, nothing was offered, after that we went to the manager and was told It happens all the time, nothing we can do it about it This is not an appropriate response from a business, they should be worried about an issue like this. When we called the next morning to ask if any phones had been turned it, they said No, but we had 30 phones stolen last night alone UNREALNot only that, but it was FAR too overcrowded in this place, capacity limits are definitely not followed here, making it unsafe during an emergency.How do they not see an issue with this? Southern Nights, you need to address these issues immediately.

Caution! Drink prices are inconsistent and outrageous! They advertised $2 well drinks and $5 Stoli specials.We asked for the specials. We were there during the special times for the price.One bar tender charged $5 other charged $8 for the same beverage.Friends ordered well drinks never got the $2Prices were $7-$10 a drink??? For well rumI asked for a receipt and never got one of why prices were wrong.As far as the place. The music was great and it’s a nice atmosphere.Just had poor management and increased prices over what was stated.

Great venue however being one of the few LGBTQ venues in Tampa has made them lazy. The decor, entertainment and music is not the best. The door staff was quite rude. Prices high for the quality of the drinks. We were only there for an hour on a Saturday and had to leave as the music was hurting our ears. Very loud and abrasive. If you have nowhere else to go, check it out. However there are better options in Ybor.

Not there more there 15 minutes and my sister was pick pocketed. There were 3 groups working together. If these trashy queens come up to you being super friendly and start dancing with you. Leave and check your pockets before you do

I really enjoyed my night here! It took a toll on my wallet but tbh that was on me, I couldnt help but tip all the dancers, they were so talented and amazing!! It was my very first night at a gay bar of any kind, I was a closeted lesbian until I was 23, and at age 25 I can happily say I am no longer scared to go out and feel proud! Only criticism is the framed art should be illuminated, because it looks very nice but you could barely tell, the club is so dark until the show starts.

Unfortunately, this is not the club you want to spend your money at. The management and employees are extremely rude & service is very slow. I’ve been here a hand full of times and it’s not been a good time ever. I strongly you suggest you take your money somewhere else. Idk who’s in charge here but check your staffs attitude.

DISCRIMINATION against the foreign!My friend from the UK was treated like garbage, he had his ID/ UK drivers license and was met at the door with nothing but rudeness and disrespect. The drag door person refused to let him in without a physical passport and did it loudly and in the most unkind way.How dare someone belittle another and publicly embarrass someone visiting our country, I will not be visiting southern nights again.

I’ve Been here once it was so packed. The crowd is very young and bartenders were good to me as long as one can get their attention. After midnight on Friday and Saturday it is so packed. Drinks were reasonably priced also with two different rooms to choose from.

I went to Southern Nights Tampa with my best friend on 4/28/18. I enjoyed it very much! We got there early however, there was not many people. (About 9:30 PM) but the folks were friendly and we had fun! I will be returning most definitely!

I went here for a drag race watch party and ordered one drink which cost $12 (tip included). A few days later I was notified by my credit card company of suspicious activity because a tip of over 140% was left on my card. After checking my statement I saw I was charged $28 for one drink. At first the manager claimed my card was charged twice and that one charge should have been voided off, but when I asked for the receipt they have on file they claimed they couldnt find it. Moral of the story, if you go here use cash only and if you must use your credit card keep the receipt just in case they try to screw you.

HORRIBLE ESTABLISHMENT. Their bartenders will ignore you and their staff will BEAT you. I have cuts and bruises all over my body from their staff shoving me to the ground from getting caught in a situation that I wasnt even involved in. Ive never been assaulted by anyone and cant believe that a fun night out almost turned into a trip to the ER. Mind you I am a 5’0, 21 year old FEMALE. DO NOT GO HERE.

Had my v.i.p. bday party the bottles were on time the set up was on time the staff witch in all they know who I am was very nice as they are always never had a problem it was pack for my v.i.p. bday party and love it I have a wonderful time the prices were good on the bottles and all 5 stars for my bday weekend one to keep on the books thank you guys for hosting a wonderful night for ace (me) thank you.......

The new owner that recently took over southern nights Tampa has revamped the place with so many new rules. The cover fee is now $10 for under 21, can’t dance on the stages without being yelled at, and you cannot enter without having an American ID. The other day my friend who is from another country tried getting in (who could always get in before the new owner) and they would not let her in even though her ID was real and valid. They wouldn’t even let her in under 21, which I find ridiculous. Additionally, the other night my friend was dancing on stage and this man who worked there pulled him down from the stage and yelled at him for being on there. First off, there are more appropriate ways to approach someone than put your hands on someone and pull them off the stage. The new owner needs to realize that some of these new rules she is putting in place are chasing people away. Personally, my favorite gay club is honey pot and if you are over 21 bradleys.

My phone was also stolen here recently like many others in the reviews :( This is a great bar but the stolen phones seem to be a HUGE problem!

The place is awesome excellent music wonderful place to go on to the risk security there I dont know what these people are talking about... The people complaining probably caused their own problems.. Ive been around at telephone and theyre horrible.... As for this club its one the better ones had great sound system Which had a nice dance floor what more could you ask for swallowed brighten a little brat stay are that complain

An overseas visitor was denied entry due to not having a passport when They held a government issued photo driving license which every other bar in the area accepted without questionThe front door was rude and dismissive and obviously discriminatory towards foreign visitors wanting to enter and spend money in the establishment, there are much more welcoming places in the area such as Bradley’s which are welcoming to foreign visitors and great fun too!

Pick pockets and phone thieves abound. Keep a close eye on your things and that guy grabbing your behind, is also trying to lift your wallet. My friend got his lifted without even noticing. At least I did notice and he tried to get in my pocket. But it was too late. That’s when my friend noticed his was gone. Phone and wallet.

Very rude staff, they literally kick you out at closing time, horrible experience. They don’t want us there. Bartenders are nice and friendly. Never again will they see me or my friends, first time and last time.

Southern can be very fun!! Just be careful not to get your phone stolen, it happens almost every single time I go there.

I had so much fun at southern nights Tampa everyone is so nice and love to have a good time this is one of the best clubs I have been to the drinks were affordable and were good and the pice was well worth it I’m definitely going again 😊

They had a kissing contest the night we went which was pretty cool. Ther crowd was pretty thin. I didnt like how expensive the drink were. Some of the staff were rude to my boyfriend

This is another instance of a ybor lbgt club only catering to gay guys. Lesbians are once again left out. Southern Nights started out as a club that had gay nights as well as a lesbian night. This one lesbian night suddenly vanished, and now some girls are being told they cant visit on certain nights. This is the opposite of equality.As of now it has turned into a club that only has guy nights all week, despite the owners saying it would cater to both gay and lesbians before it opened. Lesbians only have about 1 club on one night that caters to them in Ybor, where the men have several nights across several clubs. I visited the club once and even my male gay friend was not impressed with it, and had several issues with bartenders and the atmosphere. The club it replaced was more equal to both lesbians and gays than this one.

Great vibes! All are welcomed. Go out and enjoy yourself some weekend. Parking lots are close and lit up. Seemed safe.

The most horrendous club Ive ever been too. The queens are awful. They need to learn to turn the diva down and turn the show up. Such an incredible disappointment.

This was the first lgbt club that I was introduced to. Every Friday was lesbian night a night called Girl The Party and NOW suddenly its a FULL BLOWN GAY NIGHT CLUB for dudes it sucks because there is really not many clubs that lesbians can go to without there being a complete takeover of gay guys it seems like every club that claims to be LGBT in Ybor is only set up for guys which kinda leaves others out! There where 3 instances that me and a few friends attempted to come to this club and were stopped at the door because it was a guys only night very disappointing Ybor needs to livin up and make a lesbian club very VERY disappointed with this place probably will never come back here.

I attend this place for music! It is definitely hit or miss. It’s a great vibe though!

Went to see alyssa edwards and was my first time in ybor. Ill never be back. The people were rude. I left before i saw her cause of the people there.

If I could give this place a negative star I would. The person behind the register was rude, disrespectful and terrible as far as customer service. I completely understand some drunk people can be a handful but I wasnt rude to you....so that part.

8/24/2024 around 2:15am - I went to the restroom to throw up not because I was drunk but because I suffer from a personal matter. The security guard pulled me out by the shirt from the stall, took my drink and dumped it in the trash (the only one I bought from the bar barely touched), and threw me out of the club and told me “you’re done!” He didn’t bother to ask if I was ok. He just assumed that I was drunk because I was throwing up. I’ve never felt so discriminated in my life! And the manager was no help at all. Just stood there and looked away. The staff here have a power trip. Avoid this place and don’t waste your money!

It is a nice place, I have never had the opportunity to see the show, I dont know if there is one, but it could improve in terms of its animation team.

I do not recommend going, the bartenders when it is 2 in the morning and you pay them in cash delay not giving you change. We do not recommend going. Dont go so you dont get scammed. The police are outside the place to watch you when you leave if you have been drinking. I even believed that the police agree with the workers there.
