I highly recommend their Wednesday night trivia night!Probably the coolest thing is each trivia night features a unique small plate item, available only during trivia. These specials are always super unique, delicious, make a perfect appetizer, and are absolutely a draw all on their own. 🤌 What youre looking at below is chicken & waffle chicken wings. A sweet maple glaze, with a vanilla cream drizzle, and loaded with soft (but somehow also crunchy) waffle bits. 🧇 Ive never had anything like it and they were absolute perfection hitting all the sweet and savory notes. These brilliant specials are available *exclusively* during trivia each week.

Great tasting food. One of the few places open on a Monday. Classic poutine fries with cheese curds and gravy. Burger was cooked as ordered. Nashville style chicken had an amazing flavor and perfect amount of heat. And yes the onion rings were out of this world. Not greasy or undercooked!

By far the best breakfast my boyfriend and I have had in the area! We ordered the Pistachio French Toast and the Caprese Eggs Benedict. Huge compliments to the chef. HIGHLY recommend the Sunday Brunch, but expect it to be pretty busy. But if you end up needing to wait a little bit, I promise it’s worth it!🤤👌🏻

Cool local place to hang out. Food is basic but good quality. The tap list is impressive and the bartenders are very knowledgeable and offer samples to let you decide on what you like.Live was playing on the Friday were we were there.You can sit inside-outside. There is free parking.

The ribs were amazing.. the mac n cheese needed to be cheesier but had a great flavor..and the slaw coulda sat for a little longer to increase flavor... but was exceptionally fresh!!!

Extremely friendly.....The fastest lunch order ever, we loved it! Ordered the food and it was there within 10 minutes. So easy and delicious for lunch. Perfect to get in and out and eat great food at a good price.Waitresses were super cheerful. We ordered a meal to go as well, it was ready for us while we were eating.I love efficiency.

Stumbled upon this little place looking to grab a small bite and a quick drink. The menu seems a little eclectic, but the street corn nachos were really delicious. Service was quick and friendly.

It was good. Not great. The brunch is raved about locally, but it was less than impressive. The best description I could give is meh. They definitely have a large selection of drinks, late night bar scene is more the style of this place. I would not say this is a must have brunch. I do appreciate the locally sourced ingredients. And all the food is hand made. Nothing I had was cooked by chef mic (microwave).

This place was a great find on our road trip. Patrick did a great job serving us and kept up with the large group that came in too.

I was a little suspect when we walked in. I was also a little disappointed not see a lot of English pub food on the menu....BUT OMG the food was so good. Correctly balanced, portioned, and flavored. I got the shrimp po boy and my husband got the turkey club. We ate everything on our plates. Also, get the house dressing if you get a salad. You wont be disappointed. I will go back next time Im in the area.

Really great food, comfortable atmosphere and friendly, welcoming staff.Avoid this place at all costs. Totally not worth it. Its alluring comfort and delicious food are deadly traps orchestrated by the way too accommodating staff. If I see you during one of my mandatory weekly visits I will be so upset at how much Im going to have to tip due to being so impressed by the staff handling so much with seemingly so little to work with.Seriously, dont go. 5 stars.

Nice cozy like bar on Varrick St with outside tables and benches if you dont mind good ole CNY weather. Theres a parking lot right next to it, and a handicap ramp on the side. The bartenders were super quick and the cocktails were fairly priced. Had six drinks for about $32, I think.

I love the atmosphere of this place. An older building converted into a cozy, hip place to kick back, have a beer and eat some delicious food. The patio is a welcoming spot to gather with friends and enjoy the outdoor experience.

We googled dog friendly restaurants and this came up with great reviews. Glad we went. Great porch to have a meal or drink with our dog in tow. Menu was simple with some twists on classics. We got there too early for the band but they had a special themed around them. Food came fast and was delicious. Wait staff was super friendly and my dog got a nice bowl of water and tons of pets from the regulars.

The food was wonderful! However, I gave it a 5 star rating because of the food beer! It was delicious! The Saranac experience is definitely something you should try if you are anywhere near Varick street. The following is a recent menu price... please go enjoy!

It’s a bar in an old, dark, borderline creepy place. Gives a haunted house vibe.But their draft beer selection is usually good. I’ve had apps there before, although not this time and they were good.Bartenders always know there stuff. It’s all in all a decent bar/restaurant.

The specials were the best we ever had.The breaded fish was perfect and the chicken wrap was the best I ever ate. Even though we live an hour away we will be back. Enjoy!

Food was SO good. We had the Poutine, and the Alabama chicken tacos w/ onion rings. Everything was cooked & seasoned to perfection. The 2 ladies that waited on us were amazing, they were super busy but everything still came out fast & fresh. Even though we came out for the show, wed definitely come back again for the food!

Always great service, bartenders are awesome and patient and make great spicy margaritas. Food is consistently delicious! Shrimp po boy is my go-to.

If your looking for the corporate spit and polish of a TGI Fridays this is not your place. Expect wobbly tables and chairs, eclectic decor, great food, genuine people and friendly staff.. In other words, I loved it!

Little pricey considering its right next to the brewery. The on tap screen was pretty cool. Definitely not a sports bar considering theres one TV with the sound off for Sunday football.

I have never had a bad experience here. Diana, Amanda, Natale, Dani, Matt, and Em are exceptionally attentive for how busy Nail can get. We are lucky to have this place, luckier to have the fantastic food, and luckiest to have these people.

Very nice place but seemed small. I didnt get to see if there was a back room which could accommodate more people. We ate outside under a covered deck that was almost as large as the bar area. It was raining and the awning leaked just about every where. So careful placement of person and belongings was a must. Staff were very friendly and helpful going through the menu. Service was fairly quick and attentive. Both of us got the burger with fries, and both were average. That means it was the kind of burger you would expect, same for the fries, but nothing extraordinary that would have me going back again and again.

Came here for lunch on a rainy Monday with two dogs. Their porch is covered and kept us completely dry from the rain. Multiple dogs were able to be on the porch without being too close. Staff were amazing and made us feel right at home. Asked bartender to make us whatever she wanted with Irish liquor and she was very excited to throw something together for us, and it was delicious!!!Everything we tried from the menu (burger, bahn mi, tacos, soup of the day, nachos specials) were absolutely hands down delicious. Packed full of flavor and great food combinations. 100% glad we stopped here and now we have a great spot to go back to on our next trip out this way. Thank you for a rocking afternoon!

My husband and I traveled from VT to NY, an Anniversary trip. Nail Creek Pub & Brewery was the best place we have experienced out to eat in a very long time. The atmosphere was calming and the staff was exceptional. We highly recommend this establishment.The Provost’s

Wow. Found this place via Google. We are in the area for a couple days and decided to check it out. Its not too often the hubby and I have a perfect experience out to eat, but we did here. Atmosphere, staff, cleanliness, food... All on point. Ordered the shrimp Po-boy. Absolutely wonderful. Not greasy, not dripping with sauce, tomatoes sliced thin, tasted amazing! Hubby had one of the specials and was pleased. This place sure is a nice little piece of history with a modern twist that does not disappoint.

The food here I was good, I came for Brunch on Sunday, and their breakfast burger was delicious! Also their beer selection was pretty good but not too extensive. The service was okay. It took a long time for them to come out after we had been seated, then it took forever for them to come back out for the check at the end. Also the band that was playing while we were there was awful! I know this is not completely the restaurants fault, but the band was putting out some pretty bad sounds. Overall I would go back again!

Nice place. More of a regulars kind of place on most nights, like week nights. Just so you kind of know the kind of vibe youll get walking in. Lights a dim. Close quarters, close friends kinda vibe going on here. Staff has always been nice, no bad experiences there. Some decent bar/ comfort food; like a nice thick cheeseburger. Decent size little crowd on most weekends. Give it a shot. Not for everyone, but most would enjoy.

We were there just last night. The bartenders were amazing. They were helpful, super friendly, and accurate. We mistakenly ate at another establishment. I did however have the lemon meringue pie. It was homemade and delicious. I had the special of the night, the lemonade with vodka and my husband tried a few brews. We chose to enjoy the porch since it was so nice out. The bartenders really care about customer service and did everything they could to ensure each patron had a pleasant experience. 👍

Good food, great vibes

I was taking a long car trip this week and Utica was just about the midpoint, so after looking at some Google reviews I chose this place to stop, stretch my legs, and have some lunch. It had a small but cozy neighborhood bar feel. The food was very good--not just for a bar but in general. I got the pesto grilled cheese with chicken and it would not be out of place in a nice cafe or bistro. I didnt partake of any of the beers since I had a long drive still ahead of me but the list looked good. And the service was super friendly and super quick. If I lived in Utica I would definitely be back!

My mom and I were pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed a tasty lunch we were served by a waitress who was most pleasant and accommodating. We ate in the outdoor covered area on picnic tables. We choose this spot with the help of Trip Advisor, who had accurately stated that this was a good restaurant.

Wonderful staff helped me to set up a birthday lunch for a large group and were incredibly kind and accommodating when we repeatedly pushed back our arrival. Food was fantastic and service was great! Quick walk from Saranac.

We stopped for a quick light meal while travelling. It was a big improvement on the chain restaurant we usually stop at. It was a Monday which turned out to have half price drafts for anyone who works in a restaurant, bar, or brewery, so we got a half price craft beer. My husband got the coconut curry clams, he thoroughly enjoyed them. They were small and tender with lots of yummy curry broth. I got a cup of roasted red pepper & smoked gouda soup- delicious. I followed that with the ahi tuna bowl with roasted veggies and Israeli couscous. It was served with an oriental dressing. All the elements complimented each other wonderfully and the portion size was large enough to leave me satisfied. Everything was fresh and prepared expertly. The service was excellent, although we did sit at the bar and that may have helped. The bartender was very friendly and made us feel welcome. If youve never come here to eat, you should give it a try!

All throughout my life I didnt give a roosters tail about food in the starch world, but Diana insisted I order a bowl of table fries. INSISTED with all her beloved heart. So I took a risk. I ordered them. When they arrived their smell was tantalizing... hypnotizing some may say! The urge to try them was so strong that you wouldve thought they were deep fried in the testosterone oils of George Clooney and Matthew McConaughey. I couldnt resist... the freckled pepper speckles on the crispy thick tater stick practically spelled my name... Missy. The moment I grabbed one of these spud-sticks, the crispness sent tingles through my anti-spud self. Then I ate it... I became a new human. I suddenly understood why French fries have a religious following. Im not the religious type, but I was a changed person! I am now a servant to the spud. But I will only praise the potato at Nail Creek! Thank you, NC. AMEN.

My wife ordered the shrimp Po boy and it was amazing. I had the sloppy joe but it tasted like canned sauce mix and I guess I was expecting homemade. Lots of good craft beers on tap. Overall a pretty good place to chill and eat.

This bar is great for those individuals who are not looking for bump and grind music or arguments. Comfortable atmosphere and an exceptional craft beer selection. Also, their Sunday brunch menu is fantastic! They often have blues bands play as well as alternative and indie rock. The only reason that I gave it four stars instead of five is due to the fact that it tends to be very loud with or without music by nature of the fact that so many people love it and therefore it is usually packed...which I dont suppose qualifies as a negative. Go there

Ive heard of Nail Creek, as the legendary Phil Farda frequents the place with his outstanding trivia nights, but had never been. I heard his comedy is almost as good as their hot chicken sandwich. Anyways, I went in for a Guinness and found it to be a perfect stout, no doubt. Their poutine is extremely tasty--highly recommend before a Boilermaker road race--and their Mediterranean Grilled Cheese is delish. Bartenders Natale and Jory were very friendly, funny (but not as funny as Farda), and competent. Tip them well! And the crowd is friendly. A patron named Sean/Shawn/Shaun (?) offered to treat me to an Irish Car B*mb! I had to decline though, but thanked him, promising that I would have said, Yes! had this generous offer occurred, lets say, 20 years ago.

Great place for beer and socializing. There is usually a good variety to choose from. The food is excellent and the bartenders know their stuff. Lots of seating inside and out. Be careful when entering and exiting the parking lot or your lose the bottom of your car!

Our go-to place for a drink and bite to eat! The staff is awesome and always happy to make you a cocktail and knowledgeable about the beers on tap. The vibe is very lowkey and a great place to come relax after a busy week! Order a turkey club and homemade margarita, you will not be disappointed!

Great place, really good beer and they actually tried to encourage me to try a sample before I got a pint to make sure I would like it. Food was very good although I could have used a little bigger side, the plate looked slightly empty. If I was here as a couple I would advise and app to start if your hungry.

Nail Creek Pub is a nice bar to stop in and have a good beer and a bite to eat. They have a decent selection of craft beers and local beers. The food is your standard pub food stepped up a bit. Its really good food. Ask the bartender. He suggested what beer to have with my burger. This place knows its product.

Great meal and great beer selection. Clean place on a street that has plenty of places to check out. Free parking right next to it but we were there at 1ish on a Saturday. Imagine it fills up quick if there is an event nearby. Had a roast beef dip special with gorgonzola-very good. Service was good as well!

Absolutely fantastic food and great choice of beer. BBQ pork nachos were especially good for an appetizer while The Burger is one of the best in the Central New York and Mohawk Valley Region.

I love this place. Large enough to accommodate a large crowd, with a small pub feel. Great selection of beers on draft, bottled, and variety of liquor. If you are in Utica, go here. It is near the F.X.Matt Brewery and it is a friendly place to get a unique food and drink experience. The prices are very reasonable and the food portions will please almost everyone. The double burger with bacon and a fried egg is very filling, and the Mediterranean Grilled Chesse is fantastic. Deep River Snack Chips are available in lieu of fries and are excellent side dishes. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. The staff is awesome. Seriously, go here whenever you in Utica, N.Y.

Another Fantastic Location in Utica New York! If youve seen my other reviews you know My Wife & I have been trying places all over Utica and this has become another favorite. The People who work here are SO ATTENTIVE, its such a lovely atmosphere with a beautiful & relaxing decor, fully stocked bar, outside/inside dining, I do wish they had a little bit bigger of a menu, but the food available is cooked to perfection and an explosion for your taste buds (I had the Double Bacon Burger w/ Poutine Fries

Went for Brunch, and was seriously disappointed. Biscuit and eggs on my eggs Benedict had an awful taste. I ate two bites and gave it back. Was not offered a replacement and was only refunded half. My friend’s avocado toast was soggy and their eggs had no flavor. Two different waitresses were reminded that we had not yet received our coffee and it never came. Heard great reviews but with the poor taste and service, I don’t think l’ll be returning.

Great place to relax on their deck and listen to live music. Good selection of Woodland Brewery beer, nice atmosphere and helpful waitstaff. Excellent choice for Sunday brunch!

Im going to give Nail Creek 4 stars but probably deserves 3. The reason: I really want you to go here. Great beer selection, very nice people, and you can sit outside in warmer weather. Its a little out of the way but I like that too. Two things to note. I ordered my beer and when I presented my credit card I was very nicely told its a $15 minimum with a card. I dont know about you but I never have cash. And a CC minium seems very dated. So, not intending to have food, I was now faced with the need to eat to get the tab up. Its not the kind of place where you think oh my God the food must be great here. I ordered the poutine which in hindsight might have been a mistake. Ive had really good poutine so the bar was pretty high. Their poutine was standard foodservice french fries, the brown gravy had a pinkish cast to it. The cheese curds were nice and I think I read were local... Not a great showing over all. I cant speak to the rest of the menu. That said, I will be back for the beer. My advice: carry cash, order a few nice beers and then head out for a nice dinner at the half dozen or so well established restaurants downtown.

We went there because their website said that they have a small menu, so they can focus on quality.Their food is just eh. Not good, not bad. Their beer selection is good though. Kind of expensive.

Youll be hard pressed to find another place that has such good beer thats ever-changing. Very cool vibe and always a great time no matter when you go. The staff are top notch and Mike is the best. We will continue patronizing this bar for years to come.

Good beer selection and the pork tacos were top notch. Quick service too. Located on first floor of house gives it nice character. Only the poutine was average.

What this bar lacks in size it makes up for in food. A very good menu and a decent selection of craft beer served in a slightly hipster vibe. If this is a brewery, they werent offering any of their own beer on my visit.

We went there for brunch. We started with a bloody Mary. It was delicious with olives, celery and a big slice of carrot.The food was delicious as well. Three of us had breakfast and two of us had bloody Marys. The bill was less than $50. Cant beat that!

Not fighting through to get a beer, but I suppose the selection is worth it when you get there. Other than the small bar itself, this place rules. Great food, music, and outdoor patio for summer. Not much offered for cheap beers, so I recommend planning on trying something new and delicious, but paying a little bit for it.

Hit the nail on the head, a cozy bar, friendly staff, fresh local food, vegetarian options, and an outstanding beer selection! Home of the Utica Club side (swap fries for beer). The only catch is get here early, food, and beer are sure to run out quickly, yes, its that good!

Nice staff, cool music, pleasant atmosphere, large wrap-around deck make this a great pub to hang out with friends and/or just enjoy nice weather if youre by yourself. The Local Burger is excellent, I highly recommend it.Please note though the name *is* misleading. Nail Creek is NOT a microbrewery, but just a pub featuring microbrews from across the country as well as from down the street - FX Matt Brewery, where they brew Saranac beers, is just a block away.Nail Creek had mostly IPAs, but only a couple of other beers (which were over 9%, a bit too much to enjoy then drive). They did have Guinness on tap, (and the bartender did an excellent job of a patient pour), which paired well with the Local Burger.I recommend Nail Creek, but dont expect a cool new microbrewery.

Waitress was very attentive even though she was running the bar and the dining room. The food was great. The chef obviously takes pride in their work.

Had the special carnitas they were very good and the Chipotle aoili was excellent. Great selection of craft beers , both local and from abroad.

Second time here while working in utica. Small menu of excellent bar food. Compact but quality craft beer. Ideal dive bar.

Abysmal bar service. Staff didnt seem interested in serving our group. They had a great selection, but we werent able to attract any attention to buy anything which was particularly surprising as there wasnt many people in the establishment.

Ever since The EC closedan down this has been my bar. This place introduced me to craft beers and alot of them. The food here is delicious too. The atmosphere is cool calm and chill, the staff here is great too

Amazing. Food (when available) was life changing. Beer selection is equally amazing. Not huge, but carefully selected, AND lots of bottles. These guys are so accommodating.

Came on a Sunday and had the Shrimp and Grits. Im from the south and they did it right. Really good smooth grits and the Shrimp was cooked perfectly. I will be back when Im in town.

Ive eaten here on multiple occasions before concerts at the Saranac Brewery... very delicious food selection. Cool bar... Live music at night out on the deck in the summer.

THE place to go for craft beer enthusiasts in Utica. With a massive rotating selection, youll have no problem trying a new beer or two or twenty. Heck, go for the century club and try 100 different beers! You can sometimes find Saranc Inner Circle beers on tap here, along with various offerings brewed in-house. The food is top notch as well, nothing like a Nail Creek brunch to bring you back to life after a rough night. Friendlya staff will be happy to help you make a choice!

Always love the atmosphere & the food is amazing! Service is not super speedy but we like that when we are looking to sit and enjoy ourselves for a while!

Cozy atmosphere, with a good beer selection. Music is always too loud if youre in the corner booth, but worth the hassle if youre with a bigger group.

Very friendly bartenders and a lovely Pinot Noir. Visited in the afternoon to catch up with a friend and we could easily talk over the music and have a nice visit over a glass of wine.
