Michael saved my hair! I made the mistake of going to another stylist at another salon, and they ended up cutting off about five inches when I asked for a light trim. I was in a panic thinking my hair was doomed. However, I stopped into Aveda for a consultation. The stylist, Tayla, was very professional and assured that it could be fixed with a corrective cut. She even took the time to make sure I was scheduled with someone who specializes in textured hair since she didn’t have availability for that day. They were able to schedule me later in the day with Michael. Michael was very kind and knowledgeable. He empathized with me and my situation as I was rather traumatized from the other salon’s work. He understood how important keeping the length I had left was to me, and was able to style it in a way that was beautifully styled and balanced. I left feeling 10x better than I was when I walked in. Had it not been for Michael’s work, I would have had to resort to hair extensions which I did not want to do. I look forward to coming back for my trims.
I have always trusted others with my hair, but recently moving back to DC without a local stylist and needing to do something with the gray hair popping up, I decided to dye my hair at home. It was a mistake. Going off of reviews I found Salome at Georgetown Aveda. Now about a year later, I can’t imagine seeing anyone else! She fixed my disaster, cuts my long layered hair beautifully, and has helped me reach the color I desired. I’m so glad I read the reviews a year ago, and I hope you do the same and go see Salome ♥️
Salome did a great job with my balayage. i also appreciated having a woman of color who could better understand what colors would look good on my skin tone . I’ve been to another Aveda salon to get balayage done and this one was better. She even gave me a complimentary trim
Michael truly has gifted hands! My mom and I scheduled a last minute trip to Georgetown so of course we had to have a day of beauty. Michael provided pure hospitality from the time he greeted us and throughout our three hour service. Both of us received color, shampoos, hair masks, blowouts and thermal styling. Additionally, Michael took his time trimming our hair while explaining how to best treat our colored tresses. Michael was patient, and very knowledgeable about haircare. We were impressed with his thoroughness as well as his thoughtfulness so we look forward to a future visit. Michael puts the A+ in Aveda! Make your reservations soon. ENJOY!!!
Full highlights and toner can be a fantastic choice if you have black hair. I know when you want the right color balance it can be tricky with black hair. However, I was completely satisfied with my hair color and style thanks to Salomes work. She is an amazing and professional hair designer. I highly recommend her services to anyone looking for getting highlights or dye your hair.

Just finished the best scalp and hair treatment at the Aveda salon at 1325 Wisconsin ave. and my hair never felt softer and healthier, and moreover, my scalp is finally on the way to healing after a year of recovering from Sepsis. My scalp had been feeling like sandpaper (literally) for about 10months!!! The hair products at the Aveda Salon are as natural as can be (I’m guessing about 90-98% botanical) products for the hair. It’s not just the products. It’s the talent of the hair stylists and the support staff.Mariam is my shampoo person the majority of the time (sometimes it’s Diana or Nellie, or Anna), They are all good. Mariam has a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge, and is just plain excellent! (I call it therapeutic)Thomas, my go to stylist, is an excellent detail-oriented stylist and really knows what’s best for your hair. He’s been in the biz a long time. He actually listens to me and gives me his best advise. He also has a great sense of humor. I highly recommend him.All the stylists have many years in the business and at this Aveda Salon are excellent. To name a few, Mark (Thomas’ brother), Rick, John, Salome, Michael. I don’t them all by name, but I see a lot of great hair cuts and styles walking out of that Salon. Lot’s of repeat customer too.On top of all this the staff if a great multi-national talent, along with English, several languages are spoken here, French (of course), various dialects of Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, I’m guessing Hindu, and various other Asian languages.The Salon is very clean and nicely appointed. I love the wall and table full of great hair and skin products. I buy a few bars of the natural soaps each time I’m there and the body lotions are very rich and effective for anyone with dry skin. My first visit to this salon. I specifically looked for an Aveda salon because I only use Aveda products. I am very happy with the results!I had a full highlights and cut done by Ziya. Very happy with the end results. Took awhile because I have a really dark Asian hair and I wanted to go a couple of shades lighter. the results look super natural! DevastatedDo not recommend.***In response to your reply:I visited your salon on Saturday, 30 March at 1700 for a womans haircut, with Ziya.I have been growing my hair out for 2 years & asked for a light trim to keep it in shape. I specifically asked for the back to be tidied up, but to keep the front long. I said that I often wore it behind my ears, so would like the front a little longer than the back. I asked for no layers as it is fine & wavy.Your stylist cut layers in throughout - some are so short they fall above my ears. They are uneven.He then cut the front sections short. At this point I stopped him & reiterated I wanted the front long & the back shorter.He tried to then cut the back shorter still.I now have a cut that has no discernible style, is heavily layered (totally unsuitable for my hair type), & really short, but heavy & chunky at the back. &, I am so very disappointed to now try & grow this out - that are sections that will take months.I do not recommend your salon as I literally received the opposite of what I clearly asked for & it looks awful.

When I first came to Georgetown Aveda, Sarah took the time to talk with me about my goals and ask questions to fully understand what I wanted to accomplish with my color. She understood that I wanted a low-maintenance look and achieved a cohesive blend between my roots and my color, using baby-lights and root smudging. She knows exactly how to interpret what you want and bring that vision to life! So glad I found this salon, and especially Sarah!
READ the following if you want an HONEST REVIEW. Went in for an updo - specifically requested the hairdresser for a hairstyle he was comfortable with - even a simple blowout would have been fine. The hairdresser said he was comfortable with doing a bun. I noticed that the hairdresser was struggling to do the bun - pulled it apart and put it together 3 times. I had a sinking feeling but did not want to be rude. Finally, the hairdresser (Ertan) put the bun together and I paid $$ and walked out. In about 2 hours the pins that were holding my hair started to slide off. Since I was late for the event, I could do nothing but try to put it together the best I could - held it up some borrowed scrunchies.For honest reviews about the salon (especially the owner like many below have indicated is indifferent, and manager Michelle who directs you to the owner for complaints), filter and read lowest reviews (not the highest), to get a good sense of what service you will receive, before you venture in.In response to owners reply below:I left the salon at 1:15 pm, had to get dressed and leave for event at 3 pm. By that time, my hair had already begun to come apart and I had no time to get back to salon to get it fixed.Owner expects to be paid $$ for updos that last < few hours. So, brides and girls who wish to have their updos last the entire day for their memorable events, should watch out - since their expectation is to get paid as long you walk out with the updo, immaterial of whether it comes apart the minute you leave the salon.
DO NOT come here for a haircut or frankly any service considering how terrible their customer service is. I should’ve read the reviews but decided to walk in for a hair cut knowing the reputation of Aveda salons in NY. I had long healthy hair and showed the stylist pictures of long cut layers, which I didn’t think was a complicated request, only to end up with a dated mullet-looking choppy hair. I was devastated. The hair was made very thin at the bottom that all i can do now is wear it up with pins securing the top part which was cut short relative to the bottom. I called to see if I can receive a refund and was told about their ridiculous no refund policy and only redo within the first two weeks of the cut. No acknowledgement or willingness to hear my complaint, which really tells you how much they care about their customers. The manager was defensive and immediately resorted to explaining the salon’s no refund policy, which probably means they receive complaints frequently and do not care about retaining their customers. I will be telling all friends and family to avoid this salon.
Salome did my highlights and she was so wonderful! I’ve never dyed my hair before so I was nervous but she was so helpful and nice and it turned out great!
Best salon around! The sweetest and most talented artists here. My girl Sarah always creates the best blonde and everyone always asks me where I get my hair done. The products make my hair feel so much softer after years of killing it myself with bleach cant believe they could revive her! I decided to try Georgetown Aveda for the first time in August because I love Aveda products and was looking for a new salon. Unfortunately, I received one of the worst haircuts Ive ever had and I would not recommend visiting this salon. I have a few major complaints about the experience:1. As you can see in the picture, my ends are completely uneven.2. My stylist, Karen, was 20 minutes late the appointment without any explanation. During the entire 20 minutes I was waiting for her to arrive, no one attempted to explain to me where she was and what was taking so long.3. Karen created a very painful knot in my hair that she tried to just ignore and I had to work the knot out of my hair once I got to my car.4. I paid $60 for my hair to look this bad5. Georgetown Aveda has ignored 2 of my emails in which I explained how bad my service was and asked for a refund or a complementary trim.I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, I will not be going back to Georgetown Aveda.

I am new to the area and was super nervous to find a new salon and stylist! I have pretty damaged blonde hair and always get anxious trusting a new stylist with it. I came across Salomes instagram (hairby_salome) by accident and fell in love with her work on blonde clients. I decided to give her a shot and it was simply the BEST experience at a salon I have ever had. She was not only the KINDEST hair stylist I have ever been to, she was also incredibly knowledgeable, and really listened to what I was looking for. The color was beyond my expectations and I felt like she understood what I really wanted while not compromising the health of my hair, which is very important to me! I cannot recommend Salome enough. She will be my stylist for as long as I live in the DMV area! Also - she is probably the happiest person I have ever spoken with. If you want to feel good about yourself and leave a salon feeling joyful about life (with amazing hair, of course), she is your girl. 20/10 experience all around!!!

I go to aveda to see sarah for highlights and she is amazing! I dyed my hair back to its natural color last year and she had me back to the bright blonde i wanted in just two appointments!
Sarah is my stylist at Georgetown Aveda. Sarah has always gone above and beyond my expectations, even if I ask her to adjust or go shorter-mid cut. Sarah is also always warm and welcoming which was really comforting when I first moved into the area. Sarah now does my significant others hair as well and never disappoints! She’s great with coloring too. I’d give her a 100 stars if it were possible. I’d travel at least 50 minutes just to get a cut from Sarah if I needed to. Highly recommended, and I never use that word lightly!
It was my first time to visit Aveda and it was my first time dye my hair to blue. I have an Asian black hair, I was worry that the colour will not come out. Nunzio did a very good job with my hair. He transformed me. From long hair to short and black to blue. He was so professional and patient and fun at the same time. He will check on you all the time while I am waiting for the colour done and he also got me a bottle of water. Very caring. All the staff are very friendly and the place is very clean. I would highly recommend Nunzio! 👍🏼
My hair stylist is Salome Desilva. I found Salome after trying out lots of different hair stylists in Georgetown when I moved there from McLean, VA 3 years ago. I started with weekly wash & blow-outs, but continued to go to my McLean stylist for color. And after 6 months, I trusted Salome enough to let her do my color and she did a fabulous job. A skilled and talented stylist who does wonderful and fun color, great haircuts and wash & blow-outs to die for. AND, shes an incredible kind and warm person with a caring nature and sense of humor. Giver her a try - you wont go anywhere else after you meet with her.
Sarah is my stylist at Georgetown Aveda. I cannot overstate the talent and skill of Sarah. I started going to the salon last summer and each time she has beyond met my expectations. It is as though she can see into my brain to understand the color I want to do. I have long hair that has seen many shades of blonde and damage, from both bleach and sun, but you would never know that from looking at it. Sarah’s skills at matching the idea color to the right care my hair needs is unparalleled. She is also so sweet and kind every time I see her. I love this place starting from friendly front desk ladies, very caring shampoo assistants and my favorite hair stylist - Zak Moukhtabir! He is very talented, easy going and always positive. He did an amazing balayage a few weeks ago that completely changed my look!!! It looks so natural and fresh, I still keep getting compliments about my new hair! :) Love it!!!
Terrible cut for a very expensive price!!! Paid $130 to only turn around to scramble to find another salon to fix this horrible cut before work!!! The haircut was styled and look OK when I walked out, although I had haur ALL OVER my body because he didnt do a good job covering me. By the time I got home and looked at the back it was horrible. I asked for an angled bob and it was just all wrong!! It was not an angled Bob, even though I provided a photo of my previous cut and what I was looking for. I also called ahead and told them I have had bad experience with getting an angled Bob cut that was done incorrectly and they assured me this man knew what he was doing. He was not professional and did NOT give me the cut I requested and charged me $130!!!Will never go back!!! The picture reflects how this is clearly not an angled bob!

She listens to what you’re looking for, provides suggestions, is attentive, conversational, yet keeps things moving along. I just moved to the area a few months ago forcing me to find a new hair stylist after 7 years. I loved him and went somewhere else up here and I feel like they ruined my hair. After getting my courage back to try somewhere new I found Salome on Instagram @hairby_salome_ and that was all I needed to book an appt. I am so, so happy I did!!! I typically dont write Google reviews, but Taylas exceptional work during my visit to Georgetown Aveda compelled me to share my experience.Upon arriving at the salon, I had a general idea of what I wanted, but was overall indecisive. With light blonde balayage and long hair that I was growing tired of, I expressed my desire to go darker and back to my natural hair color. Tayla, with her expertise, skillfully recommended low lights to add dimension instead of opting in for a single color. She also gave my hair a healthy appearance by cutting off a few inches and styling it into a messy long bob. Without a doubt, this is the best haircut Ive ever received.The compliments on my hair have been pouring in from friends and family, and my confidence has skyrocketed. If you want to leave the salon feeling beautiful, Tayla is your girl!!!

Karen is great! I always leave Aveda feeling my best. My feedback is regarding the staff. There’s a fair amount of horseplay and loud socializing that it spoils the ambience of the salon. As a customer, I’ve made a special trip to Georgetown and I’m paying over $300 to get my hair done, I expect professionalism and adult like behavior. All this to say, I’ll be back.

I’m a big fan of Aveda hair products. Aveda salons have worked well for me wherever I go. Salome was amazing! She was one of the rare hairstylists who can make the cut you asked for off of a photo in a very short time. I hate the stylists who keeps cutting little bit by little bit and spending time. She did none of that and communicated what she will do before she made any big cuts. She was wonderful!

If you book at Georgetown Aveda, be prepared for your appointment not to be honored -- and to be met with indifference from the owner.Ziya was recommended to me by a friend. I made an appointment for Sunday at 4pm for a haircut. I arrived on time, checked in, was offered water and told it would just be a few minutes. At 4:10pm, the owner, Lonnie, told me Ziya wouldnt be able to see me. When I asked why, he said the previous client had asked for a treatment to be added to her appointment -- a Keratin treatment -- and that would overtake my appointment time. Lonnie offered 5pm as alternative. I had dinner plans for 6pm, so I told Lonnie that didnt work well for me and that I was disappointed and confused. He said bluntly he was sorry, this shouldnt have happened, though his tone was curt. I was left with the impression neither he nor Ziya (who never appeared during this exchange) were really very apologetic at all. Lonnie went to his computer to look at options and at that point revised his earlier statement -- he actually could not offer me a 5pm appointment. As Lonnie put it, Ziya had a 5pm appointment and he couldnt disrupt that client. I agree they shouldnt disrupt the 5pm appointment to accommodate me, but miffed the same approach wasnt taken with regard to my appointment time. I asked why no one had called me (it took 30 mins to get to Georgetown on a Sunday afternoon) and the response was a shrug. Lonnie asked what I wanted to do. Odd, I wasnt offered any real choices, was I? I told him I wouldnt be rescheduling and left.One star is for Michelle at the front desk, who was lovely.
I am always someone who appreciates having one hair stylist that I feel comfortable with and can go back to over and over. I have definitely found that here at Aveda with Sarah. Would recommend her to anyone and will definitely keep coming back for her!!
I got my hair bleached one year ago. It now faded, so I was planning to recolor it. I got to know Aveda is using botanical dyes which are much less harmful to my hair. On their Instagram page, I found Salome is the stylist who has made lots of amazing styles. We had a great communication and she did me a partial balayage. Now my hair color looks natural and healthy. I definitely recommend Salome if you need a new gorgeous style

Salome is magical! Ive gone to many other hair stylists and none were ever able to achieve the look I wanted like she can. My natural hair is dark brown but Ive always wanted an icy white blonde. Any hair stylist Ive seen in the past has left me a bit disappointed... until I met Salome! She makes my hair look perfect every. single. time. !! Shes not only extremely talented, shes also incredibly kind and attentive and always makes sure you get the look you want while also keeping your hair healthy. I usually see Salome for my pixie and she’s good but I had Marc this last time. He had the blow dryer blasting my three inches of hair for 15 minutes and charged me double what Salome does. Probably won’t be back at all after that.Response to owner reply: no you won’t. I raised it when I was there to check out. You won’t do anything and I won’t be back.
Solome is the girl to go to !She really knows what she is doing when it comes to coloring. She is magical! My natural hair is dark brown curly and freezes so much. She did a keratin treatment for and also colored my hair to a beautiful chocolate brown with some balayage highlights. I loved it ! She was very carful about not damaging my hair so she explained the importance of taking steps to go light inside of once. I agree. Any hair stylist Ive seen in the past has left me a bit disappointed especially for my kind of hair but Salome knew exactly what my hair needed. She is extremely attentive and most kind. She makes you feel you are special and deserves to be treated well. I appreciated her energy and service. If youre looking for a stylist, in DC, book with her. You won’t be disappointed. Salome is a phenomenal stylist. Having curly hair, I’m very particular about who does my hair. She is one of the best I’ve ever been to. Color, cut, styling— total professional package!! But more than al that, she’s a warm, delightful human being that I look forward to seeing every time!

Got a blowout done here and it was the worst blowout I’ve ever had. The stylist spent only half the amount of time allotted for the appointment and was very rushed. She used no product whatsoever in my hair and was constantly yanking my hair for a very painful and unpleasant experience. The end product was horrible and frizzy, and I ended up having to rewash and redo my hair before my event. Huge waste of money and time.
I Booked a kids cut for my daughter. They charged me for a woman’s cut. When I asked about it, the woman at the front desk was extremely rude. I can’t believe she is in a client facing role. We will take our business to one of the many other salons in Georgetown. Too bad - usually aveda salons are great. Not this one.
This is the first review I have ever written for any service or product! I have been seeing Salome now for several months and I couldn’t be more pleased. She is professional, talented and such a genuinely warm person that I look forward to my appointments.She listens to my ideas and adds her own without pressure and the results are stunning. I particularly appreciate her attention to detail when cutting and during balyage. Since seeing Salome I have received too numerous to count compliments on my hair.In addition, Miriam, Nelly and Salma make the process all the more pleasurable.
I got a botched balayage done at another salon in Alexandria and it was TERRIBLE. I wanted a dark brown balayage but ended up with splotchy, orange, chunky highlights. I got an appointment at Aveda the next day with Salome and she fixed everything, giving me exactly what I wanted! It looks so beautiful and I’m so happy and relieved. She took so much time and care to ensure that I would be happy with my results. She always explained what she was doing and took the time to tell me how I should care for my hair in the months following. She was so kind, understanding, and reassured me that she could fix my hair. I would highly, highly recommend her for any balayage services! I’ll be moving down to North Carolina soon, but am planning on driving up every few months just so I can get my hair touched up by her :)
I cannot say enough AMAZING things about Salome. She was so sweet and did an incredible job! The color was perfect, she listened to exactly what I wanted, and the haircut was of the utmost quality. I will definitely be going back :)
I strongly suggest going to Salome at Georgetown Aveda Salon and Spa! I have been dying my hair for over 14 years and I have bounced from stylist to stylist each year in search of someone I could go back to repeatedly. I finally found Salome and have been back to her multiple times for blonde highlights, cut, and styling. I have long, thick, and brown curly hair. Salome makes me locks look naturally and beautifully blonde and has helped me grow my hair long, which is hard to do with curly locks. Not to mention, she is the most kind person!

0 stars. Ive never received a worse blowout in my life. Richard Gesumaria was my stylist and had no idea how to blow out hair. He pulled at my head so hard I had a headache by the time he was done, my hair was matted and in knots, and even had the audacity to charge $85. When I got home, I had to shampoo 3x just to get my hair to normal texture and re-do the blowout myself. The only thing Im thankful for is that I was not going straight from my blowout to my event so had time to re-do. Awful experience and service. I was with 3 other girls who also had poor experiences/had to re-do their hair.
Love it! I have a sensitivity to chemicals and fragrances, so I go to Aveda. Lauryn has cut my hair for two years and is great. Very efficient. The massages are unbeatable. Alex is very good. (Im sure everyone else is good too; even the shampoo ladies are good.)When I got my hair highlighted, it looked so authentic. I got many compliments.Even my mother liked it.

It only took me almost 2 years to find my hair person - Ertan! I was in desperate need for a good hair cut and he delivered. He took the time, effort and attention on my hair and transformed my hair for the better. On top of that, he corrected the green (yes,green) in my hair from a previous stylist. I won’t be going anywhere else for my hair!

Ive had positive experiences with every stylist at this salon. I regularly see Brooke Morgan, whos terrific. Shes very patient (Ive changed my hair color a LOT the last few years) and shes very accommodating. Isabel a lot for my job and rely on blowouts in other cities. I love it when people ask me where I get my hair done in DC and complement the color and style!
I just want to praise Salome in this review. She is a literal earth angel, and when I tell you she fixed my hair, SHE FIXED MY HAIR. I had previously gone to another high end salon and really botched color job (which was supposed to touch up my roots) and I ended up with low lights that turned red and ash blond that looked grey. Honestly, I didnt think it could be fixed but thank god for Salome because I walked out of Aveda with a perfect champagne blonde. Not only is she an incredible colorist, she was so comforting and sweet to me, did everything to keep my hair healthy through the process, and really boosted my confidence. I will keep coming back to Aveda specifically for her and recommend to all my friends, especially if you are considering going blonde or maintaining blonde.

I had a partial balayage and haircut done by Salome and it was better than I could have even imagined! This was my first time coloring my hair and Salome took the time to understand what exactly I was looking for. Also, the environment is super fun and very clean. Would def recommend to others--especially college students because of their great student discount!
John was phenomenal! I had a terrible experience at another salon with both an uneven and jagged cut as well as an awful color that did not match - at all. John made quick work of it, and I knew I was in the hands of a skilled colorist and stylist. The other salon did not adhere to CDC guidelines regarding mask-wearing and cleanliness, with one of their own stylists even eating a sandwich on the floor. At Aveda, I felt comfortable throughout the salon and with each interaction; I knew the salon was clean and that they took all proper precautions necessary. My hair turned out even better than I could have imagined! John and Aveda, I cannot thank you enough for your warm hospitality and attention to detail in all aspects of my appointment. If I could give you 100 stars, I would!

I got a great haircut, but for the price I would have at least expected a 2 minute head massage during the shampoo/conditioner hair wash. I was a little disappointed in that regard, as many salons do that with the service. I find that to really enhance the haircut experience. Overall, good haircut, quick timing, clean building, but too pricey.
Ive been going to Georgetown Aveda salon for a while now and every experience there has been wonderful. Im very sensitive to chemicals and used to be sick for up to a week after getting my hair colored but at Aveda I dont have any trouble because of the natural products used. My stylist is Nunzio and hes been a godsend. He always goes out of his way Making sure that I have a quality service every time I come in. My hair is curly and hard to color and hes very patient and precise. Hes recently moved here from Italy and is an asset to Georgetown Aveda Salon.The icing on the cake is my scalp massage!!!!! It is absolutely heavenly. If you choose to go to Georgetown Aveda make sure and schedule with Nunzio. You will not be disappointed.
Jean is absolutely AMAZING!!! She ensured my level of comfortability from beginning to end. I received a 60 min hot stone massage and it was extremely relaxing. Jean is very personable and very good at what she does. You can tell that she really cares that you’re receiving the ULTIMATE experience. 10/10 would recommend. I walked out on a cloud!

I got my makeup done by Tayla there for a big gala where I had to do a lot of speaking. After I left, my eyes were watering and I felt like I had a cloudy film over my eyes for the rest of the night. I put in many eye drops, but nothing helped. This completely ruined my evening and made it almost impossible to read my lines and made it very uncomfortable to interact with people. Ive since tried to get in touch with the owner to request a refund, but they wont return my emails or phone calls about this problem. Im extremely disappointed with my experience there.
I had a haircut with Shana and absolutely loved it! By far one of the best salon experiences Ive had. She was friendly and professional, and the overall cut and style was great. I didnt need to explain too much before we started, but it turned out on point. Because they are an Aveda salon they use all Aveda products which is a real treat! Giving 4 stars for now because it was my first time, and I have yet to try other services.
Ive had several great haircuts from Georgetown Aveda! Ive loved the cut and color every time. Nunzio has been a wonderful stylist and even helps me practice my Italian! They also offer a discount for students on Mondays!

I’ve been coming here for 20 years. Love most of the staff. But it’s under new management that doesn’t value customers. I just got a TERRIBLE haircut (went to brunch and people asked what happened to my hair) by someone who is not one of the fabulous people I normally see there. Then when I checked out I was charged 2X as much for an appointment they said I “missed” that I had actually cancelled DAYS in advance. At first they weren’t going to tell me they were charging me, it was only when I asked in disbelief about the price. And then I explained TWICE that I HAD cancelled the appointment and the receptionist just smiled, nodded and said “but you missed the appointment.” So if you want a bad haircut that your friends make fun of for twice the price, than this is the place for you.FYI- Shari and John are amazing and NOT included in this review.
I adore Salome for being upfront and honest with all aspects of the appointment. Very kind person to me, recommended what was best for my situation. Also, props to the assistant, I believe she was Ethiopian, caring person.
I heard about Georgetown Aveda through a friend. She always has a great experience. I found Zak through the Instagram page. His photos are all so good and I knew that his style was what I wanted for my hair. So glad I decided to try it. I would 1000% recommend my friends to go to Aveda in Georgetown! Nunzio is the best! I moved to town recently and was in need of a new stylist. I hadn’t treated myself to having a hair appointment in a long time. Not only was I getting highlights, but I was getting my hair cut for the first time in YEARS and I was beyond nervous.I wanted someone who was going to listen to what I wanted with my color as it’s very easy to mess up a blonde. I had a a dramatic change in my hair with this appointment and I could not be happier with the results. Thank you Nunzio!

I came in really unhappy with my hair after a stylist at a different salon did a bad job, Salome knew how to fix it and was attentive, kind, and professional. Will definitely come back to her and this salon again!
Nunzio is the BEST hair dresser I have ever had!!! As a first time front banger, he cut and styled them perfectly, and more importantly he showed me how to recreate it at home. He is always looking to help you out and squeeze you into his schedule, not to mention he is the nicest guy!
I wish I could say my recent experience at this salon was excellent but unfortunately it was the exact opposite. Not only did my balayage turn out yellow and brassy instead of blonde but when I returned to have it corrected I was treated as an annoyance. I was given highlights in the front I did not even want and had to seemingly barter with my stylist to cut more than an inch off of my hair, which is odd seeing as it is my decision. I was ushered and pushed so quickly out of the chair by the individual washing my hair after the treatment was done and was given a towel to towel dry my own hair. This should not be the service and results I receive after paying over 200 dollars. I am still not happy with my results and It says a lot that I would rather drive eight hours back to my home state salon to have them fix it than go to this salon again.
Zak is amazing! The first time I decided to highlight my hair, I went to him and havent looked back. He creates beautiful highlights for your complexion and face shape. He has great energy and keeps your entertained the entire time! I would definitely recommend him to anyone interested in highlights.Elizabeth
I dont usually write reviews -- but that being said, I also dont usually spend over $20 on a haircut.Im sure it was obvious when I walked in that I had never been to a full-service salon before. The Hair Cuttery had never really been my friend, but at the very least, its what I could afford when I needed a quick cut.I booked an appointment with John, and even though I knew everyone could tell I didnt really belong in that atmosphere, they were all very friendly and welcoming, and John did a bang-up job on my hair.I plan on going here in the future.
Quite literally the worst hair experience I have ever had. Thomas was an absolutely horrid stylist who could not listen to basic directions. When i went back to get my hair re done it came out worse than the original endeavor. Certainly will not be returning, you are better off shaving your head than trusting these folks.
After hearing wonderful things about Aveda Georgetown, I decided to book an appointment for a dramatic hair makeover to mark the new year. I am so glad that I did! My stylist, Ertan, transformed my boring brown hair into a stunning ash- blonde balayage masterpiece. Ertan also cut and styled my hair so that I had long layers that framed my face beautifully. My hair was double bleached in order to lift my natural dark brown color but Ertan applied such care that when all was finished, my hair has never felt healthier. I have never received more compliments on my hair in my whole life. Thank you so much, Ertan for giving me a dramatic and bold new look to kick off 2021!!

Nunzio talked me into trying some highlights for the first time in my life last winter. At the time, my light brown, wavy hair was very long, with layers cut throughout to help bring out the waves. I have always been very particular about who cuts my hair, and how it is done; so, I was a bit nervous to trust someone new, and to even let him add highlights! Well, he made me feel very comfortable, talking me through the whole process. He cut it just the way I like it, and, took his time to ensure the balayage came out looking natural, even adding some foil highlights to frame my face. It took some time to get used to how much lighter my hair was, but, I think I would have a hard time ever going back!Despite the pandemic restricting me from being able to go in for any touchups, I was impressed with how nicely my hair grew out. Once Aveda reopened, I scheduled a second appointment with Nunzio. We decided to go a bit shorter overall for summer, and, I asked him to bring the layers around my face up to about chin-level. It definitely came out shorter in the back than I anticipated; but, I am actually glad he took off the extra length. I had been having to keep my hair up all the time, as, with the temperature rising, it would act like a scarf around my neck. No longer an issue! Nunzio also did another balayage, managing to blend the new highlights in with the existing ones very nicely. To ensure as little damage was done to my hair as possible during the process, and it came out soft & shiny, he made sure I received a mask after the post-color washing. He blow dried it and finished it off with some gentle waves. I have to say, I don’t think I have ever been more pleased walking out of a hair salon!
Solome has done a great job with my hair for my graduation. I loved the way she had styled my hair. I would highly recommend her.
Shana Dee is absolutely the best stylist I have ever had, and I have had many. Every time I travel back to DC I try have her do my highlights and cut. I get compliments on my hair everywhere I go. She is worth the wait to get into see.
Stylist: NUNZIO!!!!!I’ve had darkest brown, almost black, hair for years and when I turned 30 I felt like I needed to do something different .. I’ve been coloring my own hair for a long time so I figured it was going to be difficult to lighten .. I didn’t want blonde high lights I just wanted a milk chocolate balayage peaking through from underneath starting half way down my hair and that’s exactly what I got ! Nunzio was great with the placement of the strands and listening to exactly what I wanted . I was nervous about doing anything different with my hair but he made me feel very comfortable. I even asked him if I could come back with my new clip in extensions so he can blend it with my real hair and he said absolutely! I love this type of energy, he is so sweet and caters to you and most importantly I love my new hair .
On November 1 I came into Aveda for an appointment with Ertan--I am a natural blonde, but as Ive gotten older, my hair has gotten darker. Right now, its a dirtier blonde, and I wanted it to be a bit lighter. I had gotten my hair colored once before, about five years ago, and had no issues. I told Ertan I wanted my hair to be lightened slightly, and still look natural. He suggested balayage to achieve these results. After the product was washed out of my hair, I sat down for him to brush through it, and he could not get the brush through my hair. It was knotted and very painful. I was very concerned, as Ive never had this issue before, and asked him if this was normal. He said since I have fine hair and he had teased it while adding the color that it was a totally normal result and once we brushed through it it would be fine. It took Ertan and one of the girls who wash the hair nearly an hour and a half to brush through my hair. He then did the cut, and it was still getting very knotted. I asked why and he said we should take a little more off the ends and it would be fine. Then he told me I needed to buy their line of Botanical Repair products and my hair would be back to normal in a week. I felt like something was wrong, but I put my trust in him (since he is the professional), and left. I walked about 10 blocks home and, by the time I got back to my house, my ends were back in knots. I told my boyfriend about what happened--I had been at the salon for almost five hours--and said I was concerned by how knotted my hair was, but maybe it was just from some of the products he used and would be better once I washed my hair at home. Two days later when I washed my hair, I was almost in tears. I could not get a brush through my hair, and neither could my boyfriend. I called the salon and told them what was happening--they asked me to come back in for Ertan to take a look. I went back and he did a mask treatment and cut a little more off the ends.It was still very knotted after they washed it, but after he cut it he said everything was fixed! I was skeptical, but agreed to give it another week. Another week passed with the same problem, and I called the salon again. I explained that I wanted a refund--they asked if I would give them one more chance to fix it and would put me with Zak, their top colorist. Because my hair was completely unmanageable, I agreed. I came in to meet with Zak, who gave me a mask treatment as well as a protein treatment that he noted would darken my hair a bit. At that point I didnt care so much about the color as I did being able to actually brush and style my hair. I was at the salon for another three hours--and again, the girl who washed my hair could not get a brush through it. I mentioned this to Zak when I sat in his chair, that it seems like something is seriously wrong because his own staff cannot brush through my hair. He told me to give it another week. I left very frustrated, gave it another 10 days, and then called and demanded a refund. I had spent nearly 15 hours at the salon and almost $600 for ruined hair that, after the protein treatment, now looks the same as it did before. Getting a refund was not easy--I had to call multiple times and then was finally told the manager, Lonny, approved a $200 refund. I pushed back, and got on the phone with Lonny himself. Thats where things got even more interesting--as we went through my charges, he couldnt tell me what over $200 of the $600 was for. He told me the cut and color was $200, plus $175 in products, which was only $375. When I asked about the remaining balance (I was charged $571.68), he said he had to look into it. It was very shady. Eventually, I went into the salon, met with Lonny, who was combative, and received a full refund (much to Lonnys dismay). I was given an itemized receipt, and noticed I was charged TWICE for a cut and color. When I asked Lonny why, he skirted around the issue. While I appreciate that I was given my money back, I was made to feel like I did something wrong and didnt deserve it.
I had a great experience with Nunzio. He is a brilliant stylist. I initially went in for balayage at aveda with a different stylist and did not have a good experience. The management was super understanding and booked me a repair appointment with Nunzio free of charge. He was super fast and talented. He listened to what I was looking for and worked hard to deliver more than my expectations. I got exactly what I wanted. I would always go back to Nunzio as he makes you feel comfortable and welcomed and is super talented when it comes to hair color and styling. I highly recommend this place.
I was in desperate need of a cut and color post COVID, but had been wary because I’ve been using the same stylist for 6 years and just recently moved here. Nunzio was AMAZING and gave me the perfect cut and color for summertime! I was so impressed with his techniques and he made switching stylists so much less stressful!
I was staying up at Georgetown in August for a few days to help my dad get back an forth to chemo. My hair needed to be done badly lol! I took a chance and decided to get it done while in the area. I usually wouldn’t go anywhere other than my place back home. I was able to get into a next day appointment with Karen H. Omg...she did an amazing job! The cut and color were perfect! I live 2 hours away and just booked another appointment to come see her again in 2 weeks! It’s a long drive from my home in southern Maryland, but it’s worth the drive!!
Initial impression was good then this: $87 for my little girls haircut (explanation being they couldve taken an adult in her place so basically they didnt want to lose money. My responsibility to ask first even though clearly on their website states $35-45 for kids).My root color was gone well within couple weeks so then had to spend another $100+ because they stylist didnt let it process long enough.Im not sure about their ability, I cannot recommend. Poor management as well.
Very bad customer service. I made an appointment at the last minute, which I was thankful for; however I had a last minute emergency and when I cancelled the person on the phone ONLY FOCUSED on charging 25% to my next appointment, and the rest just didnt matter. I am not complaining about charging 25% I am well aware how the Industry works, no need to teach me, it is simple customer service 101, to NOT CHARGE before even talking about the appointment- or simple kindness people appreciate, people called customers.
I have been seeing Nunzio for over a year and can honestly say he has given me the best haircut and color I have ever received. He is patient, knowledgeable and so kind. His techniques for cutting hair are amazing!!!

This place is doing it all right: Masks required for clients and staff, physical distancing, check-in temperature check, risk-factor screening questionnaire, hand sanitization, and ample client spacing throughout the salon. They have clearly been thoughtful about what they are doing and how.Russell gave me a great cut and brought me back to my usual self, despite the at-home butchery I did a month prior with a cheap set of beard clippers. I have a trouble spot on my scalp due to a scar, and he managed it like a true pro!I will be back!
I went in for a cut and color visit with Nunzio and had a fantastic experience. I came in with a complicated challenge (half brown half pink hair and I wanted to go blonde!) Nunzio told me wed be in for the long haul but was committed to actualizing my dream style. Zak is the best😊 I go to Avesta Georgetown to see Zak for my haircut and he always does an amazing job. His personality and character is great and always has a positive energy. I will always go see him because he is a great stylist
Michael did an amazing job with my hair. I was nervous going in but Michael gave me exactly what I was looking for even though I feel like I didnt really know what I wanted going in. I have thick curly hair, would highly recommend!
I had an appointment with Salome back in September and she did an amazing job overall. I was looking forward to coming back and having even better experience this time around, since now she knows what i like and what i am looking for…I made an appointment on Dec 10th for sat dec 18, called today to check if there are any openings earlier that day - was told i am not on the books at all and the general attitude was just rude… essentially after not hearing a single apology, or “wait let me look and see perhaps something else was entered in the system, or confirm with the colleague that took/made your reservation” - nope, i did Not get any of that… instead The Person stepped out to grab Salome to apologize…. and be a simply polite person. And try to squeeze me in, even through she is already booked…. I don’t want to inconvenience the stylist i appreciate and simply respect her time. But yeah, the front desk person couldnt apologize or handle “can you please check with the colleague”…WOW… not sure who is running the books, but it feels like a simple decency won’t hurt, or not taking down to people.So thanks for letting me know what’s up🙌🏻
Ive been a client of Lakresha M for over 10 yrs. As always she is a true professional and can work with any texture hair. Aveda is a clean and professional environment that is fitting for her. Im not surprised she choose to be there and Im glad she is. Aveda has a plethora of hair lines to choose from which lets her work her hairstyling magic.
EDIT: Yes, I am sure I went to Georgetown Aveda! This response itself should demonstrate the type of customer service you should expect to receive.Went to Aveda 3 time to give the place a fair chance. Extremely unsatisfied. Staff is very unprofessional. Hairstylists have their own ideas and refuse to listen to what you want. I showed them pictures of the haircut (very common style) but they refuse to follow it saying things like it won’t look good on you, it will be too choppy, etc. Honestly I want what I want not what you think would look “good” on me.Front desk staff is rude as well. They act like they’re too busy to help you and ignores you while you stand there waiting for them. The staff also made an error on the payment and said they would follow up with me to fix it. They never called me back and I had to call them multiple times to explain the situation to various staff members to try and fix issue. The staff don’t seem to communicate with one another. In the end it was not sorted out to my satisfaction and I just gave up because it was too time consuming and they don’t seem to want to fix it properly.Won’t be returning and won’t recommend Aveda to others.
Very responsive to customer feedback. The barber (Marc) did not cut as I asked the first time, needed to be reminded multiple times of the buzz length, moved my part when I asked for it to remain in the same place, and got the style completely wrong. Upon leaving, I noticed that while he had cut / cleaned up one of my sideburns, he had left the other one alone. This left me with a lopsided haircut that I had to attempt to fix at home. I called back, they got me set up with a different barber (Zak) who did a great job fixing my hair.
FIVE STAR STYLISTS! If you leave this place not happy with your haircut then you must have failed to communicate what you were looking for because the stylists at this place are among the best! And dont be afraid to show how much you appreciate your stylist taking their time to ensure you leave with a bounce in your step 🤑
Zak is the BEST! He’s so good at keeping my length and giving me volume. Also, with color, he’s great at adding dimension while maintaining a natural look. He’s been my go-to stylist for years now :)
My husband has had a haircut for $ 60+ by Mark and it is just awfull,nothing to add! Dont waste your time and money! I am living in States 10 years and wondering if people have craftsman skills at all? I usually go for hairdresser when I am traveling abroad.
Customer service is poor. I’m a graduate from the Aveda institute, and I have to say the people they hire to work for Aveda have poor customer service skills. They don’t ask you any questions about products you may have used, Or would like to try. The energy is terrible, they don’t make conversation, and when they do it’s with an attitude. They assist you with dripping wet hair with a towel on their head. It’s mainly just the front desk sales associates. Very poor. Aveda needs to train the people they hire better.
Mark gave me a great mens haircut. Tight in the back and sides w/ nice blend on sides to top. Listened, paid attention to detail, and really set about to give me the cut I wanted. The only improvement could be a wash after the cut, which I expected given it was a $50 cut.
I was 10 minutes late to my appointment and called them in advance to let them know that I would be late but they were extremely rude and unprofessional when I got there and gave me bad service as a result. The hair cut was rushed and even though I didnt like it, she was being so obviously rude that I felt uncomfortable asking for changes to it. Honestly, spend your $110 at a business that isnt filled with miserable people.
Karen is the absolute best. Color or cut she never tries to sneak extra prices in and is so genuine to be around! I booked her by chance and so glad I did as I’ve been back to her over three times - she never disappoints.
Do NOT go here for color. My salon is in NEw York but I wanted to get my hair quickly for an event and trusted the name. BIG mistake. I asked for thick highlights/balayage and didnt get that. I had the smallest strands colored. I had also asked for caramel to blonde color, I GOT ASH GREEN. Needless to say, I ran to another salon and got my hair redone the next day after multiple people pointed out my hair was green.
Salome is incredible!!! So warm, friendly, and detailed in her work. Best balayage and cut I’ve had in years. Will be going back to her always.

I was so nervous about trying this place out. I’ve been looking for a stylist to assist with maintaining my short cut. With very fine hair it can be difficult to achieve body and volume. Michael exceeded expectations and I’m please to say I’ve found the stylist I’ve been looking for!
Brooke is wonderful, kind, and always on the ball. Would recommend her over and over again. I often get compliments on my blonde and how natural it looks and I owe it all to her! Shes a gem.
This is in regards to a mens cut, but ladies avoid this man too!!!So I went in for a walk in appointment, and was graciously given an appointment within five minutes. A kind and welcoming Vietnamese gentleman brought me back to the chair and began the normal so what are we in for today except it was so broken and indecipherable I actually could not understand the man at all and simply gathered hair cut today. I told him to simply cut my hair short enough there arent any curls or waves showing, and a slight fade on the sides.Final result:Left stray hairs EVERYWHEREVery long hairs over my earsNo fadeDid not clean my neck AT ALLHair still wavyCut the small hairs on the front youre never supposed to cut because they grow back slow and ugly.Post traumatic stress from trying to understand what he was trying to say.I say avoid at all cost, because this was $52 for something I literally could have done myself.
I would give you a zero but that’s not possible. so I give you a one. in all seriousness I asked for bangs that layer outward, showed pictures, and got nothing close to that request. I feel devastated because I was so looking forward to the next phase in my life but my confidence is now at an all time low. I wish I had never got my hair cut.
I got my haircut here on a wim. Russell did an amazing job on the mens cut and the whole experience was first class. I would recommend stopping by.

I dig Aveda spas because they are cruelty free so I come here for my facials. Theyll fix you up if youre having a breakout but I find the price a little high for the experience. I also talked to the esthetician about my skin needs when I was shopping for products and I did not find her to be knowledgable.

Had the oddest time at Aveda. The service was poor throughout. I provided constructive criticism about my stylist to management but never received a reply. Very weird experience. Would not recommend.

Would not recommend getting your eyebrows shaped here. Just had mine done and they are completely uneven. Whats more I dont think the technician paid any attention to my requests to keep the shaping minimal and natural

Asked for bangs …The stylist told be as soon as I sat in the chair that she was going to start long and work her way up …as she cuts she asked me if I want it above the eyebrows so considering I came for bangs I said yes and here is what happened when I opened my eyes5” above the eye brows - how is this starting long and working it’s way short !!!!😡🤬🤭

For a guy its difficult to find a spot where you can get services catered to you. From bushy eyebrows to aching back, Aveda Georgetown has been my go to location. Great services with even better staff!
They assigned a hair colour specialist to do my blow dry and it was so horrible, the stylist kept tugging and tangling my hair.
I saw Nunzio for a trim and color, he took so much time and care to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. Could not recommend him more!!
I love it here and have been very pleased with all my services.However, it seems off-brand to me to sell plant-based products, but offer tea in paper cups...
Imo one of the worst avedas in the area. They are not knowledgeable about the product. The stammer through explanations and dont really give good advice when I ask about specific issues Im concerned about. To top it off they are more expensive than other stores and online plus they offer no product samples. Not going to this one again.
