Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course

They been calling me Hollywood since elementary school. I was just passing through. Best solo experience of my life thus far and met one fine lady in matter of minutes. Lady luck double the Jackpot. TRIPPLE DOUBLE OMG and HORSES.I placed, wined, and showed at Hollywoods Casino. I give it 5 stars.!

I typically have a fun time here. The slots are hit & miss with the fun factor. Winning is also hit & miss & the atmosphere is nice but sometimes a bit dirty. It’s also a smaller casino which can be good or bad depending on your preference. Overall, it’s fun albeit not the best I’ve seen.

Not winning, but the food today was delicious. The brunch menu has fried chicken, biscuits, and gravy that are full of flavor and a good price. Fresh brewed coffee made the meal come together.

A great casino and horse racing track located near Youngstown, Ohio! Restaurants, bars and shops are located throughout the casino. Plenty of slot machines and table games to choose from. Simulcasting horse racing is available on the second floor with weekly live harness racing during the season. The staff is very friendly and helpful! Clean and well laid out facility! Plenty of parking. Safe and secure! I definitely recommend visiting here if you’re looking to gamble, watch horse racing, or just have a great time!

We went during the week which was a major mistake. The coffee is free, but its horrible, I was only able to swallow one gulp. I had to leave it sit beside a machine. The pop seems watered down. The machines lights were turned on, but they werent winning anything. I was there several hours and didnt see one payout. I would rate it worse then MGM which I didnt think possible for another casino to be that bad. What happened to the 85% payouts we all voted on to allow casinos in Ohio? At this rate I think we should bring back the small skill games of mini casinos on every corner then at least there would be competition and they would payout like theyre supposed too. Where the hell is the Lottery Commision? They are asleep at the wheel.

We went to play the slots. It was clean and fairly easy to move around. I suggest you get cash before you go as the atmosphere costs 6.99 just on the casino side.

What you see is what you get. No frills, no winning. Donating, but the 50 bucks in food credit was nice as a new member.

The restaurant took us 2 hrs fir party of two, not busy and no special orders ,not crowded.I misplace my phone... my fault... immediately I went to customer service which that was a joke, they told me that they could not help me I had a ticket from the machine that I was playing in and I had my players card and all I asked them was can you tell me what two machines I last played on. Anyone that knows casinos knows they track every single move you make and they told me no we could not but go to security. I went to security and they told me they could not look that information up but assured me but no phones get stolen there. Went back and forth between security and customer service neither wanted to help me.I finally told the customer service rep that I wanted to speak to a supervisor cuz I need somebody that will help me. After 2 hours of messing around with this I did get my phone back.I put my review on here to get a response for me to contact them to discuss why I was unsatisfied. No phone number for me to call no person for me to call and they have my phone number. So I guess this is the way I have to discuss on a Google review.This location failed not only failed in customer service also dining experience.

Nice, lively casino with ample parking in a well lit lot. I havent tried all of their dining spots but we did stop by the snack bar for hotdog and fries which was pretty decent, fair prices. While the drinks arent free, I love that you can order drinks right from the slot machine. Pretty cool.

First casino I have been into physically and it was great. We arrived very late but it was still a party. I love the bustling and moving atmosphere. People were having funa dn you could hear outside. It wasnt my money that I was playing with so I plqyed the Frankenstein game that my date was interested in and maybe $60 in I hit for $300 or so. Slots are my fav. I will be returning a lot. 😁

Fun place to spend some time. Employees are very friendly. The food in the upstairs is good, but service can be slow due to a lack of servers at times. The downstairs food court has a Wahlburgers that is always very good.

I have personal knowledge of them removing 2 machines last year (2023) that were back-to-back after one paid out $1504 and less than 2 hours later, the other paid $1514. Within 2 weeks, they were both gone. Biz is run by a bunch of Muppets.

They have a wide variety of slots and we had a really good time. I was disappointed there was no video poker though. Everything was very clean including the bathrooms. I really liked being able to get free coffee or pop at the self serve area. Carts came around with free water bottles too.

I win more money on lottery scratch tickets. I just walked around and watched people donate 100s and thousands of dollars. I asked people as they left. How does it feel to want? And some said spiteful, others said they will be back tomorrow with more money. I want to know how to open a casino, because I too want to take peoples money whom are willing to donate it.

Sportsbook is a wonderful environment and the food is excellent. You cannot call for a take out order so you just have to hang out in the chilled atmosphere.. Try the smoked wings

You never win anything at this place. I have the preferred tier card, one of the “good” ones and you get 30 bucks free play and never ever win anything at the drawings they do and if you do it’s 30 more bucks. Machines do not pay at all. It’s insane how horrible they are. Do not recommend. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Their loss

I really like all the new games that this casino has. Plus it has Coke!!! The places close to me all have Pepsi. This might be the best part but it has a Wahlburgers!!!! I highly recommend this casino.

Went to the sports book to watch March. Madness games. Its ok. Very limited seating. No service in the sports book. You must order from the bar. Workers behind sportsbook desk are nice and helpful. TVs are high around the bar. In the sportsbook they are small.

A fun place to gamble. They have decent food, Wahlburgers is inside the facility, along with other in-house restaurants. Has a food court that has plenty of seating. They always have some new machines every time we go out there.

My husband just passed away 😢 I been coming there for years spending a lot of money plus I get 50 in food was there last night and went to get food and both places were closed early and it was packed people were coming down the esqulator pissed because they were closed so early. Plus my hostess hasnt been very good to me lately since I couldnt come a lot this year because my husband was so sick 😞 😢 he passed away April 10th 1 month today 💔 very nice place to come to but the machines been very tight 😢

Went for a Mothers Day brunch and it was terrible! They didnt replenish any of the dishes, but, what little they did offer smelled disgusting! I refused to eat any of it! They didnt even have a diet soda for me to drink. I demanded that I be removed from the bill.

We had a wonderful retirement dinner there yesterday evening. Tyrik (sorry if I misspelled his name) had only been in his position one day, and got us a reservation for 9 people at 9. He was the only one that took the reigns and got us our seating. I called multiple times for reservations over the course of 3 weeks and no one except he took the initiative to accommodate us! A+++ We had a great time and I won big downstairs!!! Once again thank you Tyrik!!!!! You and your girls at the restaurant are the best!!

They are not there they dont hardly give you free play anymore and I go there regularly and dont have no freeplay and the same people over and over and over wins I cant even get a free play there something needs to be done about that lets take in all the money but the people dont get treated Fair Mountaineer gives more free play than yall do

Much smaller then the one in Dayton.Went around 1:30 am and they had half the machines blocked off to reset them or pull money which made your choices of machines even less.

Hollywood gaming is a nice facility. No tables. But the slots are spaced nice and plentiful. Upstairs is a sit down restaurant and off track betting. We never win but thats a casinos point. Still had a fun time.

Small facility. Machines dont payout, wasnt expecting to win but most places payout some to keep you interested and stay for a bit. Felt like a sauna inside was very uncomfortable, not the most inviting place to go.

This place is a rip off. Games never pay out. Cant find anyone to get drinks. Kiosks hardly work. When you do hit betting 1.80 you dont even win 50 bucks. Mountaineer is almost worth the drive.

The games over by the restaurants the buttons stick or you have to push the button several times to make it work. And that was almost on every game over there. I was there on a Saturday night or Sunday was very quiet you have to go all the way to the back to get a drink I spent a lot of money couldnt even get no bonus on anyting and those Buffalo games are just eating up the money. It was my birthday and I didnt even get additional FreePlay money for my birthday.

I will never go back to Hollywood Casino because you dont win any money. Also, something is wrong with the machines. Theres no way I put almost three thousand dollars in one machine and dont win anything. Three or four times, almost hit the jackpot, and one of the wheels falls about, or below the button. I also had one lined up for about 10 seconds and then dropped below. I am going to tell all of my friends when I get back to the DC area not to go to the casino, Ohio. Something is wrong with them machines.

The barstool eating area had some lack luster service from the bartender lady.I was the only person at the bar, and maybe thats why I was mostly ignored.The food was adequate in quality and quantity, and the pricing was normal and not too high. I did not order any drinks, though.As for the gambling area, it was clean and fairly busy. The machines were either OK or very bad. Hundreds could be played without a bonus or even a fair winning line hit. Or a machine could hit for a few hundred on the second spin. It was chaotic. Not a good chaotic, but a slow fall into madness chaotic.The establishment was nice though and it was a change from the CLE area gambling spots. Would recommend for a few hours.Will return to see if the barstool improves, and if it does I will add a star, if it fails again I will reduce a star.

I asked the players desk about it, she was dumbfounded by this also but had no answers to ease the issue. Instead, I got another month of nothing. I know people that spend far less than I and are receiving $10 a week in Freeplay. I very VERY rarely go to the competition, mainly due to distance, but even they send me Freeplay still. I didnt even get a happy birthday. Not an email, not a text, not a Freeplay gift, not a meal, not a Tshirt, not a handshake, nothing at all. You frequently hear announcements of big winners but rarely actually see any. Frequently moving machines makes it difficult to sometimes find the ones you want, and it takes forever for someone to come by with beverages. They used to have several self service beverage stations but now there is only 1. It is close and convenient though, and they do offer decent amounts of Freeplay and promotions.

Treat pregnant workers horible. Understaff and misstreat the staff who actually show up to do there job. Bathrooms always disgusting. Head of evs uses cheap cleaning supplies.the machines always look nasty and germs .the smoking room is disgusting

The casino changed out several of their slot machines for newer ones since I visited earlier in the year.We picked a very busy time to stop in. The machines werent hitting and were hard to get on. We left early.The facility was kept up nice, and the staff was very hospitable.

Been to the casino in Northfield MGM . Hollywood Gaming is Smaller but the atmosphere is better and and a better experience at Hollywood Gaming . Also left with more money than what I came with . Big thumbs up ☝ for Hollywood Gaming .

One of the games literally stole my money and they didnt know where it went apparently someone can remotely still be logged in with their card and after you put the money in they can log out and take your money, in my book these people are thieves and this place should be shut down. There are plenty of other options in the state of Ohio and anywhere else in the country to lose money at I would never recommend coming here.

Terrible payouts. If you get a bonus on a 3$ spin, you are lucky if you win 10$, disgrace. I sit at a machine for 2 hours a weeknd never see a hostess. Liked it when first opened, now its just no fun and takes every last dime😢

Fix your keno machines. Calibrate the screens. They havent worked properly in months.Update 2023:They STILL dont work properly, if at all.Update 2024:They still dont work properly, and it has been mentioned to general management directly by many patrons, still nothing. Three Keno machines in the smoking section have not worked properly in years. Tech keeps saying no parts available, well then replace them!They are constantly installing/ replacing the newer machines with higher minimum bet/ lower payout and installed new machines are the bar; people smoke, and those machines back there have been off kilter for YEARSWe are throwing money at your casino, the least you can do is make sure the machines work.Dont ask me to call to speak to management; myself and many others already have with no resolution.Just replace them!If you like to play Keno while you smoke, or smoke while you play Keno, go to any OTHER casino- this one isnt worth it.

Not like it was when it first opened very pitiful and you can hardly win anything.

My friend and I went in and came out with more than we went in with. We had fun while we was there. Had a smoking section. Only part I didnt care for was the heat type bulbs that sitting under felt like youd get a sunburn, and spots that were freezing cold in the smoking section. Outside of temp regulation it was a good time!

Im sick of this location I would rather have the go go club back open then go there. I have dumped a slew full of money in this place only for the same result everytime. Just take a quick gander at the Ohio lottery website how much they are taking in. I would prey a competitor would come in and knock the socks out of this donation station of racinoI believe most of there machines were created by the same people that make the election polls.dumped 10k in a month or so with little to no return but thank God for that great reward system that gives you $10 for every 10k you spend oh yeah there tier system starts over to every year how convenient. Its a retirement home in there for the most part dont go on the first for the 15th thats when they tighten the games so tight you need 2k just to play for an hour of some either really goofy low playing games or outdated games they get from there bigger casino. They gave me a new ID badge and I asked if I could load money on it like I used to when I came a few years ago. The clerk said I had to load it at three ATM-like machines. No matter how I tried, I could not do it. I asked about 4 employees but they all feigned ignorance on this. I will not go back. Terrible experience. I would give 0 stars, but thats not an option.

I experienced excellent service as a first time guest with little to no knowledge of casinos. The atmosphere was exciting and clean. The only thing that could have made it better was if one of those machines would have gave me some money! Lol

The women there are exceptionally rude. I noticed that almost everything a woman I Came across was very rude especially that Bigger lady who walks around and then the lady in the back with the Ill be here. Who? Josh is. In peoples. Tickets or what. Not no the? Men on the other hand they are very well almost. All then there are a few of them with a power Trip I didnt have my id so they wouldnt let me in but they wouldnt accept a copy of it either Bill was always the one who would save the day But unfortunately I dont see him as often as I used to because I dont go there for the reason Its useless they wont work with you or you dont have your idea even if your name isnt the Computer they should be able to at least look in the computer and see that. Ive been in there and not to give me a hard time but they always do. Nice venue. Really disappointed in their offerings for the Kentucky Derby. They had 1 beer stand downstairs, 2 people at betting terminal and no additional offerings in that area or outside on a beautiful day. It was like they didnt want an additional business 😒.

I do love this place because when my truck is broke down its an easy walk up the hill to the casino. Their comps are good but you do gotta spend a little bit more money. They do have a decent food court. everybody is pleasant.

Has the new Wahlburgers, but you cant use your free dining credit to get one (about $9+ without). All eateries close at 8pm Sun-Thurs, which really stinks. They no longer have BBQ, which is very sad as I looked forward to that every two weeks with my dining credit. The eatery now only serves American food (fried, fried, fried and sugar). I hate that they only have one free self service soda and coffee machine, but at least there is one. (I did see one other one was prepped as of Mar2023.) Wait staff is near non-existent and the service at the bar is long. Have heard a couple great live bands and appreciate the nonsmoking atmosphere. (But they have a new smoking section that is sealed off with glass doors.) Games stay updated, but like other places, LOTS of Asian themed slots. (Not many Buffalo!) Cashier told me they are moving to Penn National so no more MyChoice card, but she said it will be easier to get higher levels. (Not much benefits to those higher levels anyway, at least at this casino compared to other Hollywoods.) No hotel, parking is usually packed on race or event days, and no priority lane for Preferred/Elite/+. Best days Ive found to go are Sunday afternoons, Mon-Wed, Thursday if you cant find anything else to do in this town. Not many people, slots seem way looser than the weekend and little wait for food. They have a two off brand 6Kw EV chargers but the app never works for me so I cant even tell you the cost. The Veterans discount is a whopping 25% and that is a pleasant surprise every time.

Pathetic excuse for a casino. Mainly penny machines. No poker of any kind. The smoking section is basically outside and its not air conditioned. Treating smokers like second class citizens even though theyre spending money there is downright shameful. We wont be back.

Games are getting better wish theyd get the machines with the live dealer for blackjack and roulette like so many others.Keep getting new fun games please and get more of the new fun ones like money ball and such

Get some truck parking I mean really every other Casino has parking for semis. I was going to come in today with a few thousand dollars with every intention of losing it all. Theres plenty of other truckers out here that would do the same. I guarantee a parking lot for 50 trucks would be paid for in no time.

They are getting rid of all the .25 cent machine not happy with that part. Barstool sports restaurant is very disappointing. The pizza has so much garlic on it you cant eat it. We tried it 2 different time, second we asked for no garlic it was just as bad

Small but convenient.Machines not loose today, but some are/some arent.Just a relaxing afternoon looking for exciting entertainment. I just wish venues like this, that people are already freely giving their money to, might be more reasonable with their concessions prices. Really. Let us enjoy a meal and remain on the premises to have fun with the money were already willing to part with, instead of looking at our watches to see how much time we have, because we need to find another place for food.

This casino is setup just like the Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway.. but I like the one in Dayton better. I believe that is because the Dayton seems much more organized and clean. I may visit this place again once they complete their renovations to the smoking area in the back as it did appear it was going to be a pretty large area once finished.

The Machines eat more money than they pay!!😂🤦‍♀️ unless you were betting 8 bucks. Um no thanks. I got better food from the vending machine. Boardrooms were hideous n dirty!! Ugh.

Ive always wanted to give people my impression of Hollywood casino. It is a very good place to enjoy yourself. Realistically speaking, many times you do win. As someone who doesnt spend a tremendous sum of money nor do I have that type of money to spend, I do feel that you should be responsible individual when spending money on anything. I do see people who do overspend on occasion. Overall, Hollywood has a variety of platforms that they use to engage consumers and it does offer people an opportunity to participate. In other words, most of the time youre not limited because of what you spend when gambling. So its a very fair way of engaging casino visitors. Thats the reason why I do appreciate Hollywood.

Went to Hollywood recently have been coming there since the first day they opened, had a matter where my grandmother wondered away from me, well you would think that being that Hollywood has security that they would be willing to help, I was greeted by a rude security supervisor name badge said Lance wow wow wow what a attitude he was a very rude arrogant man. The other security. Supervisor Jason was very helpful and apologized for the way Lance was acting in the end helped me with my grandmother in finding her hats off to you jason and lance please find something in life to make you happy no need to treat people like that. You are personel safety for us guests, not in the line of duty remember that treat people like humans thats the job you took.

This casino staff are friendly and has great steak from skybox restaurant that keeps me coming. But sadly free play 99% not gets bonus game during using and sometimes even over 2hours playing same machines the bonus game not pop ups at all. 2yrs coming here I NEVER have my name call for the drawing on weekends or any drawing. Fun casino. Had a choice of many different games, even on a busy day. Everything was very clean, including the bathrooms. Like so many of the local casinos, I wish they had table games.

Icky.Over priced drinks at the floor service and bar, not to mention, the drinks ordered and drinks served were very different things.Made reservations, had dinner. Ambiance is very, very sad and drab and involves a bunch of wood paneling. Somebody, please come to Youngstown (or if youre here, speak-up!) and decorate beyond the era of the drab mills. Someone who doesnt think tossing in a couple retro chairs makes wood paneling look cool.And, the food .... Well, youll be fine, and live a long life, with many experiences...this doesnt need to be one of them.

I visit once every year , always clean and we like the self serve refreshments.Would be nice for the smoking area to be climate controlled, wed stay longer...Seems the machines are very tight compared to others we visit more often. Decent facilities though.

The ceiling leaks, only one beverage stand, no 24/7 cashier, trash all over the ground inside and out, no coins in the machines, restrooms with holes in the walls, horrible comps. Please folks spend your money somewhere, where you are appreciated. Im done with this place for good. Also note in my comments that your bonuses on slot machines pay less than any other casino in the area or state, this is a factual statistic. You have the lowest RTP% in the entire state of Ohio. Tell the owner a few less steak dinners every week and a little more consumer appreciation for who is feeding him or her those steaks.

I tried the new Wahlburgers inside the casino. What a waste of time and money.It took 25 minutes to make my original burger and onion rings. When I finally received my food it was ice cold and the portions were small for the price! They need someone in control of the place. It seemed like all the workers were clueless. I will not be purchasing from either Wahlburgers or Take2 which is the other restaurant sharing the same kitchen. Dont waste you time or money!

Crowded and the payout is almost nonexistant on the slots. I gamble at several Hollywood casinos across the country and they supposedly have put all on one slot card but obviously they dont. Plus their free play and rewards are almost nonexistant and when you finally do get some, its like $5. Yeah, thats incentive to go back.

My husband and I visited on Sunday. Went for dinner upstairs around 6:30 treated badly. Told unless we had a reservation we would not be seated with more than 30 tables open. We were told short staffed not my problem. 45 minutes later still no one but 5 tables seated. When I called today security was fabulous. When speaking with Michael food and beverage absolutely terrible. No apologies nothing but excuses, interruptions. So disappointing

First time there. Was a nice place, didnt see any table games. Only complaint was that a couple of the staff were condescending. One at the take 2 restaurant who acted like I should know that coffee was complementary and was rude about it. And the second one at the skybox bar who acted like we were putting her out since we didnt have reservations. The rest of the staff was very nice.

A racino on the smaller side. Went during the day on Wednesday and id guess they are roughly 650-750 machines. Most (pretty much all the good ones i.e. dancing drums, buffalo, lock it link, et) were filled. Bar and upstairs bar were very nice. Overall building was cleaned and very nice! Smoking room very VERY small, with only 20 or so machines. Wish the layout was larger but I just couldnt get in on any of the slots I wanted to play! Im sure the weekends are even more packed.

Ive been there at least 10 times in the last 3 years. I have never won anything. Tonight between 3 of us we spent around $1,000 and I won $15 one and $12 and my buddy won$34 and $15 and thats its. Of course there were little $1 and $2 hits here and there. This place is so tight. I highly recommend not going. I get it you dont always win at a casino but we never do. NEVER. Save your money or drive another hour to Rivers casino or Mountaineer in WV. Trust me your odds are very very very slim. The only positive is you get free pop. It’s pretty sad when you go to a place like this with high tech security but low tech security workers. I go here often and one night my vehicle gets vandalized and I get told “we know who did it but we don’t know what is gonna happen to the person for doing it” that really makes someone feel comfortable. How about “we know who did it and that person is no longer allowed on our property”. Unbelievable!!! 12/27/2022 As you can all see below there response was to call and discuss this matter. Well I called several times and left several messages. I still have not yet heard back from anyone. I just figured I would let everyone know that they can careless about your property so if anything should happen to anyones vehicle there don’t expect them to do anything about it.
