Antones Nightclub is a must-visit for anyone looking for a good time in Austin! With ample public parking nearby, its convenient to get there and start the fun. The bartenders are top-notch – friendly, attentive, and always ready to serve up your favorite drinks, whether its a classic Cosmopolitan or an Old-Fashioned. And the live music? Its simply unbeatable! From local acts to national stars, Antones consistently delivers an amazing lineup of talent. If youre a music lover or just looking for a great night out, Antones is the place to be.
Self described as a hole in the wall, this modest little club features good blues and cold drinks, but not much else. There are about four tables and a couple dozen chairs. The website says they sell poboys and hot dogs, but I never saw anyone eating. But if you like blues, this is a good venue for up close guitar work and remarkable vocals.
A legendary music venue that has great lineups of blues and rock musicians from around the nation and globe, as well as local acts. I have been to the last three locations that have held the spirit of its founder, Clifford Antone. This location is not my favorite, but as of right now, we can’t go back in time. So this is the best we get. This place is doing yeomen’s work at keeping the Blues tradition alive and well in Austin, Texas. My favorite Antone’s location was when it was on Lavaca and Fifth (I believe) in Austin. The stage was in the middle of the venue and there was not a bad spot in the house. At this location the stage is at the back of the narrow rectangular space. This creates a bit of a claustrophobic air, that makes a fan feel like a sardine when there to see the more popular bands. The best time to be there is when the crowd size is a little lower, then you can really enjoy the music. The elongated rectangle layout also results in pretty poor sound quality at the entrance area and bar. Overall this is THE place in downtown Austin (north of river) to experience traditional live rock or blues music.
Lovely atmosphere. Bar staff was kind. Had some issues with the credit card reader but the bar tender was patient and walked us through it when he could’ve been condescending. Heads up- they charge a 20% fee automatically at the bar when using card so just keep in mind. Saw Houndmouth put on an amazing show here and loved how quaint the venue was.
I went on a slow night and the music was still awesome. Great band, great vibe. Very historic...tons of the greatest musicians of all time have performed here. I liked the gift shop too.
We hosted a wedding party event at Antone’s and it was a perfect spot to show what Austin has to offer. This is a classic venue that epitomizes Austin music history. The drinks were great and the acoustics were perfect for the artist we brought in. Shout out to Sierra as well for coordinating our event from start to finish - she crushed it.
Saw Young Rising Sons tonight and didnt know what I expected. It was a great little bar venue with a good sound system that didnt leave me with ringing ears but was still quite loud. Drink prices are high but kinda what youd expect downtown. Id go again.
Overall we had a good time at Antones on a Monday night however I would say there is no need for it to be that loud in volume! We had to purchase earplugs and I saw plenty of other people doing the same or holding their fingers/hands over their ears. There is no need for that level in that size of room. Soul Man Sam was great however unable to perform a full set, the replacements for him werent quite the same quality of sound/voice so that was lacking. The service was ok, nothing particularly special or welcoming and there was a strange lady with red hair who came round asking for tips which we found a little awkward however this might be standard for Blues Clubs in Austin. Overall for the price and quality of the house band this was a fun night, just needed to turn it down a little. The merchandise at the front was also quite nice and reasonably priced
Vallet parking..good..Vallejo played..good show..Brittany lobas came on first.good..good drinks..dont care for any establishment that tips themselves..we left my credit card open.ran up $118 for drinks.they tipped themselves 20%..Ill let you know if you deserve 20%..$118 for drinks.$24tip and $9 tax equals $151 bar tab..plus $21 per ticket plus $18 parking..$211 total..never again..we couldve seen Taylor swift for $211..
Dropped by on a Monday night while visiting from Alberta, Canada. Soul Man Sam and the house band were great. The table set up is best described as strange with two clusters along each side wall and none in front so when the band looks straight out from the stage, it’s mostly empty. Maybe they get big crowds on weekends that mostly stand and are too lazy to move the tables to the centre on week nights? My only complaint is that when I ordered a drink, I noticed a 20% gratuity had been already added to my bill. I didn’t see a sign anywhere indicating that, nor did the bartender mention it. When I said “Oh, the tip’s already on the bill?!”, the bartender responded “A little bit”…
My 3rd Jungle Show, and it still rocks. Love the interaction between these talented musicians. Billy leading the group; you take the next solo. Chris lays down such a deep groove and just stays there supporting what everyone else is doing; he is constantly watching everyone else, SO he can support them. Mike on the keys always will please. And 3 guitar players on the same stage; each one independently great.
The venue has excellent AC/fan power. I was in a sold out concert and it didn’t feel musky nor was it too hot. Outside was humid too! The bartenders are very friendly.
Great place to see live music. We didnt get drinks, so we cant say anything about the barbstaff. Everyone else seemed very happy to be where they were at.Sound was great. Friendly people
I came for an event on Saturday night, 03/16/2024. Male bartender was very unprofessional and rude towards me. He treated me very badly because Im a female. I have never experienced this before. Other than that, event was great!

This Gary Clark owned club is absolutely soulful to its core. the music they get is always top notch and downright surprising. dont miss a chance to see someone here!
We hosted an event at Antones the other night and had a great experience! The bar staff kept lines moving and we never had to wait long, even with specialty cocktails. Great sound for the live music throughout the venue and the bathrooms were nice and clean!
We went to see the amazing guitarist Eric Gales last night and I dont know if the chosen venue could have been better. It reminded me of dancing to blues at my grandmas house with its dim lighting and painted over brick walls. Instead of album covers I almost expected to see pictures of my family on the walls. The sound was great no matter where you stood and we waited less than 5 minutes at the packed bar. Theres a schedule written in chalk at the entrance thats worth checking out. This is a great place to discover artists youve never heard.
Stellar concert with Jackie Venson killing it. Great experience at Antones. No problems for ADA access and navigation. Easy and quick entry. Even though standing room facility, had some folding chairs for ADA and early arrival folks. Restrooms clean. Bar has good selection and busy bartenders. Had a complete birthday blast. Thanks for a great time.
Poor service and dirty bathrooms. Many better places to go to in Austin. Would not recommend.
Theres a cover fee at the door, but they serve beer steamed hot dogs and a blues band playing that night and was killing it! 5/5
Antones Nightclub is the coolest club in Austin for live blues and blues rock music. Nationally known musicians perform often at this intimate venue downtown. You can get close to the band and the sound quality is excellent. The sandwiches and drinks are provided by a friendly staff. I wholeheartedly recommend this club for your entertainment desires with shows scheduled during the week. Check out their calendar on the website.
Had to conduct personnel business at Antones. Salihah was professional and efficient. And extremely helpful. Thank you for hiring outstanding employees, Antones.
Went here for live music from Whitey Johnson and was not disappointed - the sound was incredible and price was also very reasonable. I would love to see a packed show here sometime, as this one was a little sparse. They had a gift shop in the front with memorabilia from SRV and other legends. Cool spot, would go again.
Came in for the first night of the return of Monday Blues night with Soul Man Sam. It was truly a spectacular experience and a very casual environment and personal performance for Monday night blues. The service was lovely and of course this place is an icon of Austin; and I loved seeing all the posters of musicians who played there.
Didnt actually get to experience a show. For months I have waited patiently to see my favorite artist Alex Lahey perform. I was met with disappointment when the venue kicked us out. The bouncer thought my friend was trying to pass a fake ID who by the way just turned 21 the seventh. Very upset to say the least. For the record, both mine and my friends IDS are not only real but %100 legal. Also on a side note, we walked into at least seven different bars just to prove a point.
The venue attracts great artists, but the space really does not serve them well. If standing in a crowd with limited view of the stage does not bother you, its fine.
Antone’s is my go to place to see the blues in Austin. We were lucky to see Gary Clark Jr(he’s a part owner) this week, but there is always a good band to catch. My advise is take a chance during the week with an artist you don’t know. We’ve never been disappointed. Sound is great, drink selection is ok. Parking is what you’d expect downtown, but they do have a valet service.
Ive been going to Antones for years. The best blues 🍸 bar for local musicians and road bands!
I saw Tab Benoit and the show was incredible, the venue was nice.
Came here last Saturday to see Jackie Venson w/ the Foxtones. It was a great show. She is so talented. The drinks were good, the venue was hoppin.
Im so happy this iconic live music venue is still around and still hosting some big name acts. However, I really miss the old Antones, when it was located next door, where Eddie Vs is now. I miss seeing Cliffs face beam with pride as he welcomed patrons, introducing himself, mingleing with the crowd. RIP Clifford Antone; you are still loved and missed dearly!!
Very nice venue for the concert we went to. Drinks reasonably priced. Staff was great. Atmosphere was amazing
Lovely experience. Amazing sound. Everything was so crisp and clear. Restrooms were impeccable. Great tap selections. Fast bartenders who recommended quick alternatives to sold out items. 😍🫶
Saw boombox here. Great time, great venue. Bar is easily accessible and theres plenty of room to walk around. Restrooms are also clean which is a plus.10 out of 10.
One of my favorite places to experience live music in Austin.
Big disappointment from top to bottom, greedy ownership, 20% added to every transaction. The three twos, the show was 2 short, the tickets were 2 high, & the drinks were 2 high, also. No oncor. All the musicians should be ashamed of the almost 2 hour performance. Come on Billy Gibbons/Jimmy Vaughn/Sue Foley/Chris Layton/Mike Flanigin, 1 or 2 oncor songs for your fans could have made a big difference
This sure aint the Antones I know and love. This is the new Austin corporate version. Guy at the door with an attitude, having to pay tickets through ticketmaster on your phone, at a glorified dive bar. Poor sound with a weird low mid hum threatening to feedback throughout the show, cant hear the vocals clearly, turning up the guitar solo when its almost finished... again, dive bar experience at a premium price. The bar tried to charge me for drinks I didnt order. If this was the first bad experience Ive had I wouldnt bother with this, but after living and being a musician in Austin for 30 years, this version of Antones is a cold shadow of its former self and should be viewed as a tourist trap and a cautionary tale of everything thats gone downhill in this city... R.I.P.
It’s Antones, do you honestly need more for a review? Located on 5th street across from Stella’s. Music will never ever disappoint. EVER. Drinks are made & served professionally & fantastically (Old fashioned are damn fine). Valet parking is available, your vehicle is parked around the corner in Trinity street. If you tend to be cold natured, bring a jacket. It gets cold.
Quaint venue spot with a great draft selection! Good atmosphere!
I had a great time seeing my friends band play. Love the old building and the atmosphere
Saw Panchiko here. Really really great venue. Super intimate and small. The lighting honestly was super cool and really added to the ambience of the concert -- these guys really know how to support a great show. Also, the shop selling earplugs right next to it is very convenient.
Its not the same cool atmosphere as the old 5th St. location. Has a nice long bar with good drinks. Note that gratuity is included on all tabs. Its a great way to take care of the wait staff. More places should do it.
After the move to 5th street, Antone’s finally has a great stage with a proper view. The sound is excellent as well. Great bar and a great location. Definitely one of the best music venues in Austin.
Austins Home of the Blues. The acts are self explanatory. Have seen some brilliant performers over the last 5 years. The bar has usual booze with some craft beers, plus potato chips and hot dogs. Only about a dozen tables with 4 chairs way, plus some chairs for ADA. Otherwise, standing only. Acoustics are good but when the place fills its a party. Pro tip: hidden all-gender bathroom past the engineer on the right.
Great venue. You are so close and tye sound is so great..
Authentic music venue featuring great music - exactly what you’d expect from the location! The only disappointments were the lack of seating, and poor sound distribution. The quality of sound when standing on the side made it very difficult to hear any lyrics, but the moment we stood way at the far back we could make out every word. Apart from that, we had a great time!
Great music, fair vibe. Could use a little sprucing up, but for what it is, good enough!
Antones night club is by far my favorite music venue in Austin. I love the fact that almost every night of the week you can catch a live show here at any towns my husband and I have a special soft spot for antones as it was the first place we ever saw live music together in Austin.
Caught King Buffalo here on a Friday night. Surprisingly good acoustics for a small historic venue. Plenty of bartenders with good service and fairly cheap drinks. Ill be coming here again for Levitation and many shows after that I reckon.
First time visiting and wanted to hear live music and searches led me here. Short line to get in, found a seat fast, line at bar is very quick.
Not even close to what it used to be.Dont recommend and I will never return.
Don’t host comedians if you can’t take a joke.
Love it, really. Good atmosphere and, yes, we all love the history for the decades of music and legends. But really, get some chairs and a good beer selection. I honestly get hammered at Russia House next door before I set foot inside. Regardless, the people in charge of booking talent are geniuses. I saw a brilliant kid wailing on guitar before Bob Schneider, the Bluebonnets, and every other type of Texan rock there.
I have been going to Antones since it was down town back in the 1970s , saw Muddy Waters there , Paul Ray and the Cobras with Stevie Ray Vaughan and Denny Freeman opened the show, they were great when they were on Guadalupe, saw Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble do a Christmas Show there around 1981 or 1982 , and the present location is wonderful Clifford would be proud, they have early shows for us old folks and late shows , the food is good, the drinks are cold, and the folks are friendly, a wonderful place to see a show
Disappointed... Arrived early to get a seat (stood outside for 45+ min in the heat and humidity) as website suggested ... only to get inside and find that 90+% of the tables and chairs were reserved ... So not happy! Then bought the Piggy poboy sandwich... Worst sandwich Ive ever had (and Im 70 this week). It was 10 inches of bun with less than 2-3oz of pulled pork with minimal white cheese, pickles and mayo... Awful! And Jimmie Vaughan came on at 10:30 (concert started with opening act after 9pm .. BTW they were great) ... Really need to step up your game...Blues crowd deserves much better ... BTW ... The tix were sold as GA (general admission) ... If they had been sold as SRO (standing room only) the choice would have been mine ...
Just one visit but had a great time. On Sunday evenings its a relaxed, family atmosphere. People bring food pot luck-style for the early show, the crowd is light so no trouble getting a seat, there is typically a special guest artist. Also, pleasantly surprised at bar service... they know their stuff and have quality well liquors (e.g., Dripping Springs gin).
Sad shell of what this place used to be. Way too woke and corporate now. They literally ban comedians for telling jokes. Please save yourself the time and money (drinks are ridiculously overpriced now) and go to one of the other 100 venues in austin.
What an awesome live music venue.Dark, air conditioned, great sound and reasonable drink prices. We saw Walker Lukens, Im sorry I waited so long to see him live. It was a fantastic show. There is a small record store at the entrance to the club with a limited but awesome collection of vinyl and cassettes, t-shirts, etc.All in all a great blues club.
Amazing! This is a beautiful club with a rich history. We went in tonight for a drink and to see the place but stayed because of the band. (Lindsay Beaver w/ Brad Stivers & Josh Williams) They play here on Tuesdays when they are not traveling. This is one of the very best bands Ive seen and Im very picky about music.Antones had a friendly and efficient staff. There was a shoe-shine stand and a souvenir shop too.
Saw Bebel Gilberto there on a Monday night. The sound was perfect and the lighting subdued and easy on the eyes. There was seating up front and standing room all around and back towards the entrance. People were being cool and laid back. The bar was easily accessible. Definitely a good spot for live music with professional sound and lighting and a clean and comfortable atmosphere.
Beautiful venue but what stuck out was the nicest staff ever!!!
Intimate venue with a great drink menu!
Good live music. Was told it was the house band. Less than 2 songs in we were approached by some older gentleman who wouldn’t leave us alone about a tip even after we politely said we just got there and weren’t ready yet. Before we walked in, we gave a homeless man all the cash we had and needed a moment to think through the situation that had just happened. We’ve definitely supported Austin in all aspects during our vacation and didn’t expect to or appreciate being pressured in that way. Too many other great places in Austin for live music :)
Incredibly busy and full of young drunk college kids. Classic Baustin style
Love this store. Great prices, great records. However, one star down due to walking in and getting NO greeting from the girl sitting at the front doing nothing. People walked in after us and were warmly welcomed, though. I’ve worked in customer service for many years... it’s not hard to make your customers feel appreciated for coming into a business. Still will shop here, I just hope this feedback helps understand from a customers point of view.
Great intimate venue! Amazing stage views no matter where you stand. Staff is amazing CJ at the door was friendly and made me feel welcomed. The bar staff was great and the sound team was on point! Jennah Bell and Emily King, such an amazing show! Thanks for a great night!
Bad venue.. terrible service.. they also treat their comics poorly.. unfortunate to see a company treat their loyal patrons badly
We took the in-laws out to Antones for a little pre-Thanksgiving fun and had a wonderful time! The bar tenders were on point with drinks and of course the music was perfect. We valet parked next door for $10 (on a Wednesday evening) Luckily, we had the dance floor mostly to ourselves which made it even better. My momma in-law had THE best night out on the town and her first visit to Austin. Thank you for such a great time!
Great venue. Loud so take ear protection if desired. Bar isnt cheap but not stadium pricing by far. I paid $7.50 for premium beer. Get there early and look around. Lots of history on the walls.
I have been to three different antones over the years in Austin. This one is by far the smallest, but that isnt necessarily bad. Smaller venues allow for more intimate shows. I have seen a few bands play here and like it. If there was a complaint, it would be that air circulation is not great. But its not awful. Any large crowd of people watching music typically gets a little warm. You should plan to stand at the show, there is very little seating. Hasnt been an issue for me, but if thats a concern keep it in mind.
Great venue for great music!
Bartender acted like I was crazy for asking for whisky with just a splash of soda water, no ice. Im sorry!! Thats just the way I like it!! Even so, the atmosphere is amazing. It feels incredible to be there. I saw iLe in concert and it was absolutely incredible. The sound was fantastic. Even the crowd was cool. An Austin staple, truly.
We had a great time checking out John Louis Walker when he was in town! Great show. We stopped to look at all the pictures on the wall before we left and this place definitely has a lot of history. We will definitely come back if ever back in the area
My employer hosted our Christmas party here and we had a blast. The live music was great and the staff was extra friendly and super attentive. They had a interesting arrangement of food and games.I would definitely recommend checking this place out if you get the chance.
Another dont miss venue in Austin. Dont worry about who is on the schedule, just go. You will not be disappointed.
The bartenders are great. The place is nice enough, but limited seating, show up early if you want seating. The stage is perfect, you can get about 4 feet from the artists.
Really enjoyed this place, the environment, the music, the refreshments
I have been to every iteration of Antones since it was across from the record store on Guadalupe, and this one is my favorite. The bar has an impressive selection, which I did not expect. The staff were cool cats and I would go back just to hang out at their bar. I was pleased at how good the view from several different places in the bar were, even for a shortie like me. Totally dig it.
Great place for music. Acoustics were a bit off and the ac maybe needed to be turned down a bit more- but Reckless kelly was awesomeness! Drinks were good! No table service, so you run the risk of losing your table.
Went to Austin in September 2019, with my wife. Saw Carl Weathersby at Antone’s. Great artist, at a great venue. Even chatted with some of the muso’s....very cool. We went back the next night to see a band of young guys (can’t recall the bands name).....also great. It’s a venue that lets you get up close and personal with the artist. Love it.
If this place was fixed up, it would be full every night. Only 15-20 small Tables, no table service, no food/snacks and minimal decorations. On the other hand W.C. Clark was great. I have seen him twice now and enjoyed his music both times. Dont let the venue scare you away, go see W.C Clark.
Been going here for years & years. Its a joy every time! The acts they line up are always great...Arc Angels, which of course includes Doyle Bramhall & Charlie Sexton, Double Trouble, Ian Moore, to name a few. Love it since they remodeled & relocated💜 Definitely should be on your bucket list of Austin places to listen to live music🎶
The guy at the front door is the rudest SOB that I have ever laid my eyes on, place is too hot, needs AC, drinks are too expensive. Antones is completely overrated. There are far better venues to enjoy throughout the entire Austin area. I will NEVER visit Antones EVER AGAIN!!
Saw Ana Popovic at Antones last night. She was good, but the sound in the place was far too loud to enjoy her. My ears are still ringing. I know that sound is always a challenge within a smaller venue when there are hard-hit drums and horns (I have worked FOH), but this could have been dialed back a bit without lessening the energy. Bring ear protection if you come. Also, there were only hot dogs available as food. That is pretty poor. Not a great experience for me and my date. I will take my dates elsewhere.
For years this had been a place I dreamed of visiting. I have grown up listening to and playing Blues music and this place just embodies this music. All the greats have graced its stage, it was a true pleasure to be able to visit and I make it a priority to do so whenever Im in town.
We enjoyed a concert there last night with Jeremie Albino and Cat Clyde. Very laid back with a good audience too. Definitely recommend it but get there early to get the few chairs and tables available.
Great venue with great bands. Antones always has someone good playing. There is also open jam night an you can come across some real talent on those nights. We spent New Years Eve there and it was a great experience.
While attending a show, I went through an incident and I am so thankful for the staff at Antone’s for their quick help. The staff was very kind and went above and beyond. Thank you!!
Made here a couple of times to catch a show, and I really like this venue. The set up is great, with the stage in the middle, and the bar on the opposite wall. Leaves a lot of open space. If you have the chance to see a show here, do it! Nice venue.
One of the best music venues in Austin - with a variety of music and good sound from a shotgun space that holds probably 250 people. Lots of musical history here and if you’re into that...don’t miss this place.
Nice venue. Decent sound system. Adequate bar. The only problem is that in general the concert attendees are jerks who constantly talk during the concert--meaning they tell at each other. If you want to talk go to a regular bar!
The most recent iteration of the illustrious Austin blues staple is cozy and fun to be sure. It has a great location and assortment of acts, lots of funk as of late. Antones is worth the visit. However, sound leaves something to be desired here but thats normally what you get with a venue of this size. Its incomplete if you arent withing 20 feet of the stage and overwhelming otherwise. No real happy medium. Absolutely worth the visit though, history alone warrants that.
A true Austin original and the place to enjoy world-class blues. Kingston mines in Chicago has nothing on Antones, a gem that is not to be missed.
Great venue for great music. Friendly staff, cold drinks, and a nice gift shop attached if you’re looking for swag. This will be a regular stop now that I live in Austin.
I saw Carl Weathersby here and he was fantastic. The venue is clean and staff is friendly. The bar has a small variety of craft beer and a decent booze selection. Food option is po boys, however, there was some free pizza the night we were there. I do not know if that is a regular thing. Arrive early if you want a seat or a table as those are limited. Servers will pick up empty glassware, but you need to go the bar to get drinks. There is free water. Also, being cash for the band tip jar.
Went there for Shakey Graves Day.Austin Rocks !Calliope Musicals was incredible.Met Carrie and the whole band. You guys put on a fantastic show.A must see !The place is a fantastic venue to see any of your favorite bands.
Nice space for music, but sold out show for Samantha Fish got very crowded. Since its SRO mainly might be a little tough for some folks to deal with as it was very stuffy with not a lot of air circulation up near the stage. Made it fairly uncomfortable, even for February. But Samantha and a very young, dynamic band really brought it!!! Do Valet parking right next store at Eddy Vs. $10 -- you cant beat it.
This is the home of the Blues in Austin. Come... and ENJOY!
Incredible musicians, excellent staff and a local legend! You cant find a better venue for all of your needs.
Ian Moore. Do I need to say more?! I have seen him so many times, but he never ages & I feel like his shows have gotten better. His band is top notch!
Teddy Swims - if you have not heard of him - look him up. Great singer and it was a great show last night. My friends and family cant wait for him to come back! Keep Up the Work Teddy - youre going to go far!!
Nice venue nice peopleDont buy any drinks there thoughMy date and I had 3 drinks a piece and the night tab was over a hundred dollarsHope it was worth it because Ill NEVER go back to that place ever.We had whiskey sour and Hennessy and coke. Not some crafted cocktail.
Another Austin music venue that remains iconic year after year. A lot of big names got their start here, particularly blues/guitar players. Keep in mind you often have to pay a cover, but I found the drink prices to be reasonable. Street parking or a public parking structure would be recommended, but this is a great central location for bar hopping afterwards. A must see place for anyone interested in the local Austin music scene.
An Austin TX staple! Anyone who is in need of great live music in Austin should look no further. I personally have seen many a show here and can honestly say it has lived up to my expectations. The service is great, the bar is accommodating, and the bookings rock!
