Our experience here was amazing. The atmosphere is cool and sophisticated. Bella is absolute best at explaining the drinks and the different liquors. 10/10 recommend coming here for a chill relaxed vibe with the best cocktails!
Came to see The Spazmatics. Their show was great! But we ordered drinks, came to $18, about 45 minutes later, ordered the same drinks and it was $24? Asked what changed and the bartender said she would see what she could do? Then came back and told us she didn’t use top shelf last time. We didn’t ask for top shelf this time. Sounds like she wanted to tip herself a little more and didn’t realize we would question it. Little fishy.
The BEST part of my trip to Austin was discovering this spot. The bartender, Jesse, treated me like we had been friends for years and gave excellent service as well as advice about Austin, things to do, and places to go. She and Speakeasy were easily the best part of my trip to Texas and I will recommend this spot to EVERYONE.
Came here with my partner on our visit to Austin and met Courtney who was amazing! The drinks were so good and her recommendations were absolutely on point. We didnt stay for the music but the set up was very cool. The history of the building is also fascinating which we were very interested when Courtney was telling us about it. Fantastic time all around.
My group of girls and I had SO MUCH fun last night! Unfortunately I left my credit card. I returned the next morning and Josh was unbelievably kind! He looked everywhere to help me find it! It’s hard to find that level of compassion these days! Josh is a keeper!
I was recently there for a private event and did not particularly enjoy the experience. The lines for food were huge and the place was very loud/crowded. The bartender we interacted with seemed annoyed to be there and she did not know what types of beer were available. Live music was fun, though. Might be more pleasant on a normal night.
Jordan was absolutely amazing! Truly couldn’t have asked for a better driver!! Such good vibes the whole time!! 100% recommend!! You will not be disappointed!
Mykala did such a wonderful job making our drinks! Mikaela Id very affable and made me feel very welcomed here during pride! Thank you Mykala!
Music was absolutely great. The one bartender, no glasses, on 5/7/24, at night, 10:39 to be precise had no clue what she was doing in mixing drinks. Absolutely no clue totally clueless. All drinks ordered were un drinkable.
This place wasnt what I expected from a place named Speakeasy. Its not bad. Its just more of a concert hall than a speakeasy. The band was actually good. The staff was friendly. It is a nice venue. However, the drinks were inconsistent. The first drink I had (sazerac) was good. I guess shift change happened and the drinks went downhill. I was served an old fashioned that tasted OK but no cherry, no large ice cube. I might be a bar snob. But if youre not youll enjoy this place.IG: cltfooddrinkguy
My friend and I had a great time chatting with bartender Josh and others for a few hours. Josh is the best at making drinks! He surprised us with unique but popular concoctions and I highly recommend stopping here. Thanks for everything Josh and his sidekick Ambrose with the most impeccable mustache!
We saw the 90s coverband The Reminders. The speakeasy staff was having a really hard time getting the mics balanced and it really impacted the band. He was running around with the iPad. The service from the waitstaff was okay. The drinks made were expensive for the amount you got. The band was good once the staff figured out the balance. Nice big place with many levels. No cover.
Overpriced and understaffed...Came here for a comedy night. First of all, none of the staff even know what was happening or where, half hour before it was supposed to start. Second, when I went to get drinks the guy at the bar was agitated because he was literally the only one working. He barked at me that they didnt have ingredients for the drink I wanted. Same story with the next 2 drinks I asked about ... Why even have a menu of none of the items are available ...Overall pretty shoddy bar. And the comedy show was half an hour late too.
Courtney was absolutely amazing! The service was top notch and we were treated extremely well! I highly recommend this bar but Courtney makes the experience even more special!
Attended a 3-day event at this venue and must admit, it was very impressive. Our first evening was located in the loft section above the bar. The mood was pleasant, cozy, and offered a nice space for our 30 or so guests. The loft area was a tad noisy since it was directly over the bar/dance floor, but if we wanted some less noise we headed towards the rear of the area, away from the open area. There was a nice, quaint bar and a working bowling lane. Plenty of things to do, from ping pong to a nice game of pool. Seating was great for our size and offered some fun games if we wanted. The next two days of our event was upstairs on the street side of the venue. Again, another full bar, although we didnt take advantage of it. The decor and mood were great, exposed brick, fancy lighting and open-air concept was great for speakers. The floor is a bit creaky, to be expected in a historic building. During our event, there was a pesky fire alarm that would chirp every 30 seconds or so, made for a slight annoyance. All in all, this is a great venue worth every penny.
Was in Austin for a business trip. This place was outstanding. We stayed mostly on the second floor. The bartender was great. There were great games everywhere to play from ping pong to pool. Will definitely go back next time I am in Austin
Fun place to gather with friends for live music entertainment and drinks. The place feels intimate with three floors to explore. The decor of the ground floor takes you back a few years with a beautiful bar and period lighting creating a great mood. The second floor has a two-lane bowling alley, darts, and lounge to hang out with friends. The rooftop bar and patio has lots of great seating to accommodate gathering with small or larger groups. The view is lovely as well. Lighted drink menus add to the ambience. All this makes for a night to remember.
Live music on multiple levels. Roof top had dj spinning with middle two floors listening to the live band that night. Second floor has shuffleboard, pool, ping pong, and bowling.
Was in Speakeasy for a few SXSW shows last week, and there was one bartender, Jessi, that was there every day. After the first day, I made sure to keep getting my drinks from her; she was attentive, speedy, and friendly as hell. It was great to have a reliable bartender like her in a place that packed for SXSW. Great job, Jessi.
Everyone was absolutely amazing and kind! Josh was an amazing bartender! He truly made the experience 11/10! Best bartender in Austin!
Speakeasy’s is a great place i go there every Wednesday night to see The Spazmatics very fun this is a great place to go! Bartender made good drink and good service the staff they are very welcoming and friendly i recommend Speakeasy’s location is on Congress
Courtney was fabulous!! Open mic night had some great people and the history of the place is cool 😎
If youre between the 29 and 45 years old youre going to love this place. They aim it right at that age group and they absolutely nail it.
Great environment and the drinks were amazing. There was a live band that rocked the house with their mix of covers and the atmosphere was so refreshing. Definitely would visit any time I’m in Austin.
A cool place to watch a live band. We saw Chandler and the Bings. It was a perfect venue for the show!
I definitely recommend this bar to any live music lovers, especially rock enthusiasts! The bartenders are great! The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful with a rustic look. Lastly, the manager is one of the most charismatic and respectful fellas I’ve met! Thank you Speakesy team and management for my awesome experience! Much love!
Havent had foodService, meh, computer problems this time.My complaint is the womens restroom smells like a latrine, both times Ive been here. Husband said nothing weird smelling about the mens restroom.
People working there dont even know whats happening and wondering why paid customers with ticket have come to a supposedly scheduled show. Comedy show, badly organized, not really great comedians but they tried. Bartenders are not friendly, no smile, very apathetic and entitled. We ( all four of us ) are not going to this place again. Waste of time and money. Btw drinks are insanely expensive but poor service or poor attitudes.
Incredible three level venue. Unfortunately the rooftop was closed during the time I visited due to the weather. The first level consist of a long bar, high tops/chairs, and a stage. Bartenders were very attentive and efficient. I love anything with ginger beer so the Ginger Bourbon Lemonade was right up my alley. The second level includes a smaller bar but has a pool table, old school bowling, shuffle board table, connect 4, and probably some other things Im missing. Second level gives patrons a different vantage point of the stage as well. Attended an Encore ATX event which was very well done, definitely want to come back to check out the rooftop.
Stopped in for a drink. Great service despite it was very busy. Live music was free and decent.
Papa J was amazing. So fun so real so cool we love him he kept this amazing
Pretty nice venue. The multiple floors are pretty cool. You can get your steps in for the day while enjoying some cocktails.
So many stairs to get to the top floor. A cool place to listen to live music in the downtown area. The bartenders are polite and make some great drinks. I had the Old Fashioned that they made really well. Would like to go back but they do charge guys a cover charge. Not sure why bc it was kind of a sausage party.
SO GOOD it was a Friday at 3:00 for my friend’s bachelorette and they were so kind and energetic with us
Stopped in for an afternoon drink and while we were the only two in the place at 1 PM on a Friday afternoon, Josh and Ryder made us feel welcome and gave the best service! Drinks were delicious, hospitality was great! Definitely recommend stopping by Speakeasy during your trip!
I always have a great time dancing the night away at Speakeasy! My most recent visit was on a Saturday night with 90s music and the DJ was mixing it up with perfection. I like the view of Congress Street, the cozy seating, and plenty of dance floor at every angle around the DJ. The bar tenders are always great, and being on the rooftop allows a nice breeze to flow through on those hot summer nights. To me, it seems that the people that come here love to dance without judgements and youre pretty much guaranteed to have a great time every visit!
This is definitely a nice place to come and hang out. There are three levels: the ground level has nice bar and is a spacious dancefloor. As you make your way to the second level it overhangs the stage on the first and theres two-lane bowling if youre feeling competitive. Up on third the level, as the guy at the door said Mt. Everest because by the time you get there itll feel like youve climbed a mountain, your efforts will be rewarded by a plush setting ideal for a date or just lounging. Youll have a good-ish view from on high after your ascent into the stratosphere. Its a cozy place that happen to have live music the night I went, although the bartender informed me that most nights of the week there is. So if youre looking for a place to hang out with a group of friends or a to take a date you cant lose with this place...especially if you happened to have skipped leg day that week. 😉
My husband and I were visiting Austin for the first time. We were looking for live music and a fun atmosphere. Speakeasy more than met our expectations. Great staff and incredible music played by Rhinosaur!!
Only 4 stars for the drinks since one of them wasnt great and didnt get drank but me and my friend are not huge drinkers so that could play a part in it too. 5 stars overall. Service was great, nice & cozy atmosphere. The comedy show on this particular night was a dud and there were a few comedians who were having a hard night and were just bombing. Im not going to hold one night against the place though and Id probably go again just to check it out to see if their lineups consistently bomb or not. Overall, a memorable time was had, just not the kind that includes laughter lol.
Whether you are going to enjoy a drink with friends, hear some live music, or celebrate a special occasion, Speakeasy is the place to go! Although I have been here several times, my most recent and memorable experience was our post-engagement party on the rooftop bar. Such a lovely spot and view. Not to mention, the staff was incredible and accommodating. Huge shout out to Brad for helping coordinate the event and making sure everyone was having a great time during the entire celebration. Thank you Brad and all of the Speakeasy crew for making this special day perfect!
Had a great time at this bar! The guy bartender was amazing and had great conversation!!! Highly recommend
Great time and 90s rock playing..even better! Good old fashions too! 🔥
Papa J is the best driver. we loved him
Best damn drinks, best effing atmosphere and just an amazing place to enjoy and unwind with friends
My friends and I joined the Austin Pedal Party for a bike tour around the city centre. It was well organized and planned out, we hit a couple of bars on the way and even got some freebies. Overall, great experience!
I’ve been to Austin about 7x in the last 2 years. I’ve never made it to a live music venue. So off we go. After 5 horrible bars, we ended up at Speakeasy. The bartender Jess greeted us with biggest smile and personality. She was absolutely awesome. Drinks were great. The conversation was even better. It was a random Tuesday and Carly Jo Jackson took the stage about an hour after we got there. Amazing talent. The bar filled up with people with just Jess behind the bar. She didn’t skip a beat. #badass. Through all of it she made she our glasses weren’t empty and we were comfortable. This place is on my list for every future Austin trip. So glad we randomly stopped in.
Josh is always on time and makes the drinks perfect! Great guy, highly recommend coming in and getting a drink with Josh!
We had our closing expo here and I was so impressed. Loved everything about this place. Every floor is amazing. Its a must stop!!
Reece at the door was great! Band was awesome and drinks were great. Bartenders friendly up and downstairs! Pool sticks all need new tips but ping pong, bowling, goose all and giant connect 4 were all super fun. Crowd ranges from mid 20s to upper 40s. Well dressed and lots of fun.
Josh was a great bartender. He is super at multitasking and made us feel welcome. Taylor is doing a great job as a bar back. All in all it was a great experience with super tasty drinks!!
This place was great! Wonderful atmosphere, very friendly, fabulous craft cocktails and the bartender Josh was so friendly unlike most places around here dont want to talk to strangers. Thats your job! Way to go Josh for making us feel welcome on my Birthday!
Great selection of live music and good cocktails...
Terrific live music (90’s night)
3 great spaces. No cover charge for comedy and live music. Good stuff.
Went here on my Austin Pedal Party ride for a short stop. We loved it so much, after our ride, we came back!!It was amazing! Three floors, lots to do, great drinks.
COURTNEY ROCKS! Drinks were awesome and she plays a BANGING setlist!
Papa jay is the best! We had an incredible time
My favorite slot for live music in town, off the beaten path and great bands.
Josh was our bar tender and spectacular, phenomenal, amazing. He made sure my sisters Cosmo was the best since New York, her Martini was dry and delicious! He made me a Peanut Butter and Jelly shot for my birthday that was the best I have ever had and since I dont drink shots that totally converted me! Definitely go there and for ask Josh!
One of the best bars I’ve been to over the past 6 years. Something about it always pulls me back. The fact that there’s something different on every level of the bar makes it entirely unique, and my girlfriends and I have made an entire night out of just playing Ping Pong and Bowling on the second floor of Speakeasy while dancing and listening to the euphoria of the dance crowd on the ground floor. On top of being a great space with events and live music, the service workers there are also incredibly nice and go out of their way to make sure their patrons (especially women who are hassled by aggressive men) are protected. It’s why me and my girls will make a point to go to Speakeasy as often as we can, even if it’s just to pop in and get a few rounds and play games
$15 for the house prosecco. Enough said. You all have lost your minds.
This place is amazing!! I needed a venue for a company get-together, which ended up turning into one of the best parties I have ever had the pleasure of hosting. Sarah and her crew really went above and beyond to accommodate us (especially when we had some last minute requests) and I am forever grateful.
The Cadillac Margarita is delicious definitely a must have 10 out of 10. Josh is a awesome bartender great conversations and fun to watch plus his skills as a mixologist chef kiss.
We had an event on the Speakeasy rooftop for around 160- which was very tight. As long as you dont look at things too closely the space is nice- just a little run down and dirty. I actually offered to clean something when I first got to the space and was told no. The staff was pleasant enough but it was also fairly obvious that they did not want to be there. There were 3 bartenders for our group but with the space size the lines just overwhelmed everything. Food was decent. You have to go up a lot of steps to get to the top level, I am not sure if there is an elevator option.
Nick was super nice and fun!!! I really enjoyed the ride!!
Atmosphere/entertainment is great! Except Aubree T, she has a horrible attitude.
First of all, the home page of the website says the band starts at 8. This is not true. They actually are scheduled to start at 9:30.Second, they didnt. When the band couldnt get the sound to their liking, they walked off the stage and turned off the stage lights. We left at 9:50 after not hearing even 1 tune.I cannot recommend this place to anyone. Extremely unprofessional.
Speakeasy is a great place for some live music and special events; a go to when on SoCo. I attended my first Carnaval event they hosted which was next level fun. My most recent experience was celebrating friends engagement and Brad made sure the whole party was having a great time celebrating the couple of the hour. Always a good time and highly recommend!
Went there on a Thursday and they had a fun cover band. Discovered that they have shuffleboard and bowling on the second floor. Overall it was much better than what I expected.
What I can say about this place is...dont go there. We were meeting outside for an historical tour of New Orleans, so we popped inside for a drink. We stood there 10-15 minutes while the bartender (didnt get her name) ignored us. When she finally came over to get our drink orders she didnt bring what we ordered. Sad. There are plenty of good bars in NOLA.
Cool place to visit. Didnt have food.
Do not go to this Bar ! It is horrible ! Heres what happened to me a few days ago. I walk in to meet up with a buddy at about 5pm.Both of us moved to Austin a few months back and were talking about our experiences here. Unbeknownst to us the bartender was listening, and decided to interrupt our conversation. This guy had a mullet and long curly hair. First he tells us his dog is sick (um OK). Then, for whatever reasons, he tells us that Californians and tourists are not welcome in Austin because theyre ruining it. Then he tells us hes not from Austin either lol. I explain to him that his bar consist primarily of tourists from all over the country and then he tells me I should go back to California where I came from, I tell him Im not from California Im from New York and he says thats just as bad 🤦🏻♂️I tried to contact the management of the bar to explain what has occurred (so it doesnt happen to anyone else) but they didnt answer their phone, and didnt bother calling me back when I left a message. Do not go to this Tourist Trap 🤯
We just moved to town and went to Capitol Comedy hosted every Saturday. It is supposed to start at 7:30 and end at 9:30. After buying our 3 tickets we arrived at 7:00 to insure we had seats and were able to get drinks. After we settled in we tried to order beers and my first 2 choices of beer on the menu were sold out. A Saturday, 30 minutes before the main event, they sold out of 2 different beers and it wasnt even busy. We settled on a beer and didnt pay much attention. The comedy show then started at 7:50 and ended at 9:10. Of the 2 hour event, 40 minutes of it was cut short, and I was highly upset since this was basically half the event. After talking to the guy running the show he told me thats just the way it is. On top of all this, I tried to close my tab out and was told we dont have youre card although they had no problem charging to my tab each time we went for more drinks. Finally after arguing, they found my card and told me they closed it out and I walked away and forgot to grab it after my 1st round, yet somehow they still managed to charge me for each round ordered, and even OVER CHARGED ME for drinks I did not get! They refused to do anything about the short comic show, and the over charging of drinks that I would never even order. I will not go back after this event. Very very upset and worried about all the other people who were over charged and never even noticed
Kailey brought us here and it was an awesome time! The gentleman playing 90s music were so good! Loves the band
Belmont and the bar tending crew were amazing! We had a very large party and they made it really easy to do a single tab for everyone as a business expense. I would highly recommend Speakeasy for any company looking to do something fun for their associates/customers. And the Spazmatics are incredible!
I was only here for the ghost tour that met here, but this place definitely made an impression! It has such a cool vibe and the bar tender was friendly. Hearing about some of the ghost that haunt here was cool too.
A buddy of mine came from Florida and absolutely loved this place. Our bartender, Josh was awesome! He chatted with us, gave us recommendations and just generally chummed it up with us (and he makes a great Moscow mule!). My buddy and I will definitely revisit sometime during our stay in Austin!
Ray I was super awesome! She welcomed us in as we got there and also served us at our table! A+ personality and we will absolutely be back
Love this cute little bar. Awesome bartender!
We reserved the Swanky Package for a birthday celebration with a group of four ladies. It was perfection! From the moment we arrived, we were treated to a VIP experience! The live band was great, the rooftop deck was stunning, and the bowling really fun. Special thanks to Mark for the history as we walked through the incredible building and for the ghost story! Also, kudos to our waitress, Sophia, for excellent service that makes us excited to come back, again! Highly recommended!
Our awesome guide Cailey, on our bike tour, brought us here. We had a blast, although in all honesty I think any place would be a blast with Cailey.
This establishment will steal your money. Stay away!! Charged us for over $200 worth of alcohol and claimed two of us drank 22 shots. Who would serve individuals that many individual drinks? I only bought two drinks and they won’t refund my money. Don’t waste your money here.
Just wandered by and were beckoned in. Spent the evening with great drinks and super friendly staff, lovely atmosphere. Then the stand up comics got on stage and just made our evening. What a cool place!
SUPPOSEDLY theres a happy hour here, BUT even if you order something during the happy hour that is supposed to count toward said happy hour, it will not. There is no happy hour. There is no discount. There is no happiness.
A huge variety of drinks at a great price! The atmosphere across multiple levels of music, djs, game rooms. You cant go wrong here for a night out on the town!
This was our vibe! Jessi was absolutely the epitome of “the best bartender”… she made our bar tour of Austin perfect! Really wish there were more places in Austin that gave us the country music vibe!
Cailey was awesome! Loved her energy and she made the event super fun! I would recommend this Pub Crawl again!
What a great night spot! There for a private party, live music, bowling, roof top lounge, friendly staff, great atmosphere! Highly recomend.
Its a classy and spooky haunted music venue with a full ball room, full stage, bowling alley, roof top terrace and 4 full bars all in one place. Live music every night of the week its a definite staple for tourist and locals alike. Perfect for private events and the walk in night life.
2nd timer here, just like the first time, excellent experience! My wife and I tend not to go out at peak hours. We like the quiet ambiance of Speakeasy at 5. Too early? We think NOT! The drinks bartender Josh made us were made with ingredient/spirit knowledge and best of all, love. Quality human being- particular about quality and precision for our benefit, and also a freakish memory for juicy lost details.Highly recommend for a relaxed ambiance before the craziness of Thursday-Sunday night downtown Austin ensues. Also the live music is definitely interesting.Wont ever forget it.. in a good way :)
Massively underpoured the drink. When quizzed, stated that the sprite would dull out the alcohol. We watched the pour and it was a 1/3 of what it should have been.Nice venue, but watch your server.
Josh is AWESOME. we love. This place is awesome
There is a lot to this place. 3 and 1/2 floors! Good music, a balcony to watch from, and even a two lane bowling alley on the half floor. Check out the lounge beds on the top floor. Weird fun kind of Euro half beds and techno trance. Go downstairs and here a Willy-type cosmic cowboy band. Fun with diverse!
Dont know if they serve food, b/c i didnt see our smell any, but they had a good band and awesome-a** d.j. Ambience was relaxing, and patrons that night werent acting like drunk idiots and enjoyed the scene!
Highly recommend this bar for your private event. I had the best time on the rooftop for my engagement party. The event planner, Karen, was helpful and flexible. The bartenders who worked our event - especially Whitney - were absolutely amazing. She was so helpful and easy going, she really cared about making our event special and helping us stay within our bar tab budget.Awesome space and view!
Nice place with good views on deck. Can get a little hot on the deck in some spots, the fans dont all work and move. DJ on deck is great! Inside it feels a little old and could use some touches to make it feel new. Drinks are poured well and staff is nice.
Thank you for letting me have my birthday party on the roof top I loved it! The only thing that I can say was a downfall was food me in my friends were really wanting something good to eat but we were having to either walk or order door -dash but other then that I had a good night. The Courtesy manager and the staff were great!
Drinks were good, bartender was great and fast, and the music was fun! I sat with my friends on the rooftop and had a great view!
Josh today was the lowest person you can ask for a favor in the hospitality industry. Today 4/13/22 - I asked if he had an IPhone charger and he said yes, but I can’t let you borrow it because I have to use my phone for work…. Lovely customer service ! I told the guy about the review and he kicked me out and said “next time bring your charger” …
Weve been here 2x ... comedians the 1st time rated 4.5 stars. 2nd time 3.0 stars. We arent upset with vulgarity, but 2nd time was a bit overboard and unnecessary to make things funny. What makes it a fun date night is comedy first then the local band Lonestar Souvenirs for 4 hrs. Nice combo and additionally an attentive, friendly staff.
Awesome club live-music venue.Great Dancing Floor Space!Nice city views from the rooftop bar area!!!!
Fun place! They have the levels. First floor is a really nice full bar and live music on stage! Second is Foosball, chess and bowling with a private bar. Third floor is open air patio with a dance floor and another full bar and tons of comfy spots to curl up with your hubby or chat with friends! There is usually a super cool DJ up there!
Fun, friendly vibe. Bowling, shuffleboard, all kinds of fun stuff. The drinks are small and leave a little wanting. Staff is great. Some of the music the djs were playing were a bit... much. But the live bands are usually great!
I misspoke in my previous review, that we were waiting outside Speakeasy for a tour of NOLA. It was indeed Austin. Speakeasy 412 Congress Avenue it says on my receipt. My previous review stands. I hope other people have a better experience than we did.
We came here a group of 4 girls for a trip from Canada and Josh made us the most amazing cocktails and was great to chat with! Come here for a nice drink and also lots of live music!
Christian & Matt really made our night with their great personalities and humor. The atmosphere was amazing. We were lucky enough to visit on a Wednesday when they have a live salsa band. The 2nd floor is super cozy with a private bar, 2 lane bowling alley, connect 4, and seating areas. Corey was kind enough to snap pics of our group on the rooftop
Went there for a comedy show. It was hit or miss but there were a few solid acts and the guy working at speakeasy who was introducing everyone was definitely one of the better ones.Got a Moscow mule, good as always. They have a variation with grapefruit if thats your thing. Prices were acceptable and service was good. Clean, spacious and music isnt so loud as to prevent conversation.
Jess is amazing. It’s our first time from Dallas and she’s the sweetest bartender I’ve met in Austin. I’m coming back specifically for her and the vibes.
Outstanding! The have three stages! Two downstairs and one on the rooftop. The VIP lounge lets you watch both the stages downstairs. This was one of the featured venues at SXSW 19 and the bands playing there were just amazing. Theres smoking allowed on the rooftop if youre into that. Great place to hang out.
Mixed feelings about the mixed vibe on the ground floor here. Its like they play a couple good songs then a terrible song. Theyre kinda hip, but kinda basic. Old Fashioned was a disappointment. Sound system isnt bad. Live music is a plus! You might like this place if youre a fan of both One Direction and Elvis on the same play list and dont mind mediocre cocktails or cover songs.
No beer on tap. One bartender at the bar, line was 30 people deep. Stage and sound were good. Food was decent. Just needed more help to serve drinks and add draught beer.
Very nice and a fun place to visit! I dont think they had enough bartenders for a Saturday night, drinks seemed overpriced, and if they are having an event on the first floor you need to go up three flights of stairs to get to the roof (which is very nice and sometimes has a dj) small bathrooms. Nice but probably wouldnt put at the top of my list to visit again
Great open mic. The bartender, Amy, can be hard to get used to.. she has a tough personality at times, but once you crack through it she shines bright :)Awesome talent plays here. The drinks definitely arent cheap, but it is worth a visit for sure!
Surprisingly large venue. 2 bands were playing in the same location without very much cross musical confusion. 2 lane bowling, shuffleboard, ping pong, and retro console gameplay.Only complaint is that the music was extremely loud in a number of areas so if you are sensitive to loudness, pack ear plugs and/or move away to some of the rooms that are away from the bands
PAPA J IS THE GOAT! best experience!!
This place has a few floors. I initially checked in to see if we could have a rooftop drink, but there was a private party going on. We opted to play shuffleboard on the middle floor, where there are some games to entertain yourself with. Theres also a full bar, and I was pleased with the drinks the bartender made for me.Theres a bowling alley, but Im pretty sure they tell everyone is broken. Im sure its a pain to supervise. The lower level has a bigger bar and there was a band playing popular covers while we were there.
Very nice joint. Four floors. First floor has live bands. Second floor has darts, shuffle board and a legit bowling alley from the 1920s. The fourth floor has balcony openings and a very modern feel to it. Would genuinely recommend this place to everyone
Spent some time here after it was referred by a close friend. The bartender Josh gave excellent service, and he really made the experience that much better. Best Old Fashion Ive ever had.
Great Venue for grabbing a drink and relaxing, both downstairs or on the rooftop. The staff was friendly and the drinks reasonable, bathrooms were also very clean and tidy, at closing the staff wasnt yelling to get out either just have a good night. Will definitely be back.
I’ve been here twice for open mics on Mondays. It starts late (10pm), and is hosted by Ronnie Hall, a really friendly and talented singer/pianist. The vibe is nice, especially being a rooftop bar, always cool to have a view. A good amount of space and comfortable seating, you feel like you can sort of have a private spot if you want. They have a smaller selection of beers, but have a few good ones.
Great spot, great music, awesome atmosphere!
First time there. The place is extremely dirty. Carpet on stairs has odor of vomitAnd urine. Wood floor need to be washed and clean often due to smell ofOLD food collecting on wood floors. My recommendation is get new carpet on stairs.
My husband and I found this place while visiting Austin. This place is AMAZING, from the front door, Thomas, very professional and courteous, Misty and Josh bartending those famous cocktail drinks very tasteful and dreamy... Geoff(Jeff) is super friendly and the life of the party. Lets not forget Ryan who escorted us to the rooftop and was so helpful and friendly . From Comedy hour to live bands, to Rooftop parties, this place is a must-visit in Austin. They showed my husband and I the best time for his birthday. I will forever support them when I visit Austin!!! Speakeasy truly values their patrons ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Loved the atmosphere and can’t get over how much I adored the Willie Nelson longhorn above the bar. Josh made the best dirty martini I’ve ever had. (I’ve had a few in my day) Great service and conversation. Exactly what I was looking for.
We were on the rooftop. Really nice dark vibe with mood lighting. Good was great.
Visit this bar!! Great, chill atmosphere during the day, and Josh the bartender makes the best drinks! Great customer service and overall 10/10 experience. Will definitely come back!
Went one afternoon and had a young bartender, at least he looked very young. I don’t usually have mixed drinks, but I told him what I liked and let him do his thing. Well done with a fancy Bourbon drink that buzzed me a little. He was a nice guy as well.
Hands down the worst costumer I have ever experienced. I had billing issues after being there the night before where one of their bartenders added more to the total than what we had consumed. I went to speak to a manager named Brad and he didn’t know how to reverse the charges that were added so he offered to take care of the whole tab for that night. After a few days I noticed that it was never refunded and went back to bar to speak to a manager. That day I met with Kevin and quickly noticed how careless he was about the situation and was incredibly rude when I confronted him about what he’s employees said they would do and even walked away as I was still speaking to him. Kevin is the most incompetent manager I have had the displeasure of speaking to and his unprofessional attitude is absolutely unacceptable. It’s astonishing that this bar would employ someone like him given the nature of the business. In total I spoke to 3 managers and the third manager was named Paul. He asked all the questions about my situation told me it would get refunded and that never happened. All these managers aren’t people of their word and have no follow through. The place itself is in a great location but the service is just atrocious. Given that I work in hotels I will recommend to any and every person that I speak with to never step foot in this place. These is no accountability in this place and it’s ran by people that can less about taking care of their patrons and more about what money they can keep for themselves even when it their mistake.
I had a good time there and even though I had to leave early, I accidentally left my suit jacket there with my cell phone and I.D. in the pocket. When I returned, Misty and another man there helped my locate my property! Thanks to both of them and the entire staff for protecting these important things.I am very grateful.
Speakeasy is an eclectic vibe for music lovers, entertainment, and great service! The staff was absolutely amazing! The band was beyond incredible! Theyre call The Lone Star Souvenirs! Awesome sing along Saturdays! A must see in Austin!
Go for the drinks. Do NOT go for the comedy show. The mixed drinks are works of art. The staff was great. The comedians were absolutely idiotic unless you love weed jokes, and think 9/11 jokes are funny to you. Worst comedy acts I have ever been to, and Ive been to a few
Was there waiting for a ghost tour to start. Went in sat at the bar was going to get a drink before the tour. Bartender greeted us when we walked in I sat at the end of the bar while she went to the restroom. Pulled my wallet out was going to order 2 drinks to have while waiting. The bartender was closing a tab on one other customer that was setting at the bar there were only 4 other customers in the bar setting at a table that already had drinks. I waited while he closed the ones tab thinking he was gonna come over But someone else walked in he greeted them took their order and then proceeded to just talk with them after completing their order never acknowledged that I was waiting to order a drink. Im sure they get a lot of people waiting for the tour they just come in and sit and use the facilities but I was ready to order and he didnt even try to find out if I was going to. this was on Sunday August 7th around 7:30 PM.
I really enjoyed this place other than the parking availability. I guess you kind of have to expect this if you go anywhere downtown. I loved the band that played. Austin Party Band. If you havent heard them yet, you should. Very fun and energetic band. ❤🎶🎶
Awesome live bands♡
I just love the concept! A dance hall on the ground floor, a game room with bowling on the second floor, the stares that feel like they go up to heaven, and the more DJ-esk preformance and lounge area up top - super fun! Unfortunately, Im just not the right economic class to be hanging out there. Everything is just way to expensive for me. I wish they had more affordable beverages and food options for a poor folk like myself.
We hosted our company customer conference here and a thoroughly good time was had by all. This place is a bit of a rabbit warren with the band and bar on the ground floor, games (bowling and shuffle board) on the second floor and a wonderful roof space. Our guests were able too wander through the venue playing games, listening to he band and hanging out on the roof. A great set of icebreakers.
Three floors. Live music every level. Bowling alleys on the mezzanine! A nice rooftop bar. We were there for a group private party so not sure what the food is like normally. It was so-so BBQ for us. And drinks were gratis so cant speak to their prices. Nice venue!
Good selection of drinks. Cozy atmosphere. Came here for a holiday party. The bartender on staff was witty, and a joy to listen to as he made drinks. They had giant jenga and connect four. The bowling didnt work sadly. Music was a little odd but all in all nice experience. When fully occupied, the place can get pretty loud. The dancefloor is pretty cool, and the bathrooms are fairly clean.
Nice spot. Attended for a rooftop party. Seems to be a chill spot overall also had a live band. Not sure if its an everyday thing but seems like a nice spot for a quick drink or a date!
Cinnamon is a man! Great experience!
Always a Great time at the Speakeasy!! Staff is great and the live performances are wonderful. The Speakeasy is a place you may start with, but sometimes it aint easy to leave!! Keep up the Great Work 👍
This place is a fun destination for a night out. It has three stories with a different vibe for each one. The first story has a bar and stage. They normally have live music for dancing. The second story has a bowling alley, darts, and shuffle board for those looking to play game while they drink. And then theres the rooftop with a gorgeous view of Downtown Austin. The DJ spins music while you drink in the view.
Me and my husband are both disabled veterans. I dunno the gentlemans name who decided to be the elevator police this past weekend but you NEVER ask anyone what their disability is. I was so disappointed and felt targeted. We turned around to leave after taking the elevator to what we thought was the roof. Mr. Elevator police came up behind us. Asked us what we were looking for. I told him nothing now...we are leaving. Date night ruined.
I dont go to this bar enough! This place is awesome with its multiple stories and rooms of bars. The top story outside patio has a great view but some people might have an asthma attack from walking up all those stairs to it. Good drink prices and bands most of the time. It can get crowded to come early.
Band playing loud overwhelming the vocals. It is not a speakeasy by nature, only by name. The locals seem to like it. However all the locals stated they have never left the state of Texas.
A great place I often frequent when I visit Austin, my only disappointment was that upstairs was booked for a private event. The staff is still very good and accommodating... So at least I got to briefly visit the cool upstairs. See yall next time!
The band was fun and the crowd was very suburban soccer mom-ish talented, drinks are over priced but thats expected in a classy looking joint. The door man was nice and respectful and let us in free because their system was down for a minute.
I didnt get to spend nearly enough time here, but I loved it when I visited. The drinks were excellent, as was the service. I really like the environment and décor. Even the crowd that night was amazing. Its rare that I take a real liking to a bar so quickly, but I can honestly say that Speakeasy is one of my favorite spots in Austin, and I look forward to my next visit.
Speakeasy is a piece of beautiful Austin history with excellent live music. Fantastic location and a must see if you are visiting. Really great venue just to hang out too.
A great place if you want a classy, more quiet bar. Each floor is different, so if you dont like one, try the others. Also on floor 2, one of the bartenders is a Master level Chess player. On a slow night you might get to test your mettle against him.
Large club great location. 3 levels rooftop with DJ overlooks parts of downtown, nice seating. One night sat up there for 30 min, DJ was there for maybe 5 minutes. Another night DJ was there for an hour, about to leave with friends & he decides to play our request. 2nd floor has bowling! $30 for an hour. 1st floor live band. I gave it a 2 stars because of DJ, band was semi decent and because crowd is always non-existent, to the point of ...dead
If you are one of those drunks who wants to be in a new room with new music and new people every time you order a new drink, you are in luck. There are a few different spaces and levels to explore here, including a pool/poker room and upstairs roof bar/loft. The rooftop patio is wonderful on a nice night. Pair that with pretty decent drinks and I am in as well.
Sad, sad excuse for a “speakeasy” bar. All the drinks are made with low end liquors, mixed by people that need to have the menu in front of their face to mix them, and they charge $10-12 each. Did not have ingredients to make the first drink I ordered on their “specialty” menu and he substitute drink tasted like she pour me sour and topped it off with ice (lower bar). Third drink tasted better but was poured like an alcoholic pouring his first drink in three days. On top of my booze being inside and outside of my glass they charged me 12.99 instead of $10. They told me I ordered an old fashion when the drink they poured was clearly the drink I ordered and when ordering I pointed to it on the menu and the bartender even pointed to it to confirm what I wanted (roof top). Pretty rude to blame your customers to evade owning your mistake or malicious intentions. Drinks are a joke, staff is is worse, and entertainment is alright but they have it too loud. The building is awesome and has potential, but whoever is running the place is doesn’t know what they are doing because this place could do very well with good management. They need bar rescue!!!
Nice music, comfortable warm environment. Good drinks reasonably priced.
So much fun! I highly recommend it - Cailey was so upbeat and energetic, we had the best time!
Josh makes the BEST lemon drop shot in all of Austin (our Bach party tried 8 different bars and this was the best)!!! Such a great vibe!!!!
I went for a comedy show during Moontower and this little bar was so nice! It is a smaller venue, so the mood is a little different, but it felt more intimate. It was a nice change from some of the bigger venues Ive been to.
Amazing spot. Sarah helped us out so much when doing an event here. There are so many levels to have people and do activations. Would recommend 10 out of 10.
Great to start the night, they have three different areas and levels. From rooftop with dj sets, to a game room and casual bar on the lower level. Drinks are not the very best but is a cool stop for a beer
Did a professional event here during some badass bands and live DJs the vibe and set up is perfect. When we were leaving there was a lotta road construction that blocked us in and we had to have officers let us out: beyond that: we loved the space !
Watch your credit card. Went there a few weeks ago, ordered 2 cans of beer and 2 tonic waters. Cashed out for about $15. Was charged $106 on my credit card. POS systems allow for a tip to be entered. So either they entered a massive tip or the bartenders were running up drinks on my card after I signed my receipt.
Roof top was dissappointing. But bar on street was nice if busy. Strong drinks.
