Mavericks Beach Club

Very lively and festive spot in ocean Beach. Only the outdoor part of the restaurant was open, which was fine because the weather was perfect. We got a seat and a high top table that had a view of the street so we could watch all the people go by. The service was fast and friendly and the food was good. Also pretty great.

Great taco Tuesday deal, very affordable. The staff are very cool and I enjoyed the conversation and environment they foster.Drinks are reasonably priced and a good strength to them.Awesome dance floor and club area, love the vibe of the whole club!Highly suggested stop by a local. Check this one out.

The new PB bar and grill for those of you who havent been back in a while. Very well done multi-level experience. Great for kids with bags and super connect for. Fantastic food, highly suggest the mahi wrap.

Great game-day bar, but overall volume is super loud. Servers are generally quite nice, but it can get so busy that there are delays (we waited 55mins from time of order to food being brought out during our most recent visit). The facility is oriented around an open-air square with 3 zones, each with its own bar. The crowd flow is good overall and there are viewing screens in each zone. The bloody Mary was only ok...had 2, each was tart, lacking any veg and had zero spice/heat (wont order them again). The chopped salad was great, and recommend adding shrimp (super reasonable price!). Chips and salsa are good, as is the ceviche.

Had surf and turf tacos for Taco Tuesday... they did not disappoint!! Great place for kids and some good food and drink.

Weve been coming to Mavericks for a while now and usually just come for drinks, but we have had lunch a few times, too.The first time we ate, my husband and I got burgers (and he also had another breakfast plate)! Sadly, the last time we came, they no longer had the Impossible vegan burger patties, so I just got some chips, guacamole, and a quesadilla.The food was delicious, the drinks were good, and the service was excellent.

Unbelievably laughable entrance rules. On the recommendation of a friend, while visiting San Diego, myself and 3 friends (were all in our early 40s) walked up to the front doors at Mavericks and were met by the young man on the right. I hand him my 100% valid Canadian Drivers License photo ID. He says This doesnt work. You need your passport At first i thought he was kidding. I offered to show him a photo of my passport, but that wasnt good enough. I asked to speak to a Manager. Hes just going to tell you the same thing. The Manager didnt come out. The bouncer on the left in the photo wouldnt give us the time of day either. I travel all around the world, and ive never been denied entry anywhere with a valid ID. It was early evening, there was zero line-up, and the place was certainly not full. The good news is, there were plenty of establishments on the beach who were happy to pop bottles for us last weekend.

Service was great, shout out to Shy on her first day! Very attentive and nice. Atmosphere/ambience is always great here.The food however is nothing special, no flavor, nothing tastes traditional or authentic, guacamole came out brown (had to request a fresh one) meat on the tacos is chewy and flavorless.Come here to party, not to eat, that’s my recommendation.Leaving frustrated and unsatisfied.

Last night, we went to watch a local DJ here. We had RSVP tickets that clearly stated they were valid from 9:30 PM to 1:30 AM. Out of nowhere, the venue decided to start charging a $15 cover for ticket holders after 11 PM.The DJ was scheduled to perform from 12:30 AM to 1:30 AM. Everything seemed fine until 1:15 AM, when they abruptly told him he was done. He calmly informed security that he’d play one last song, but instead of a reasonable response, they immediately called for backup. Four security guards stormed in, cut his set, and kicked him out right in front of everyone. This happened at 1:20 AM, before his set was even supposed to end. The level of disrespect was mind-blowing.I’ve honestly never been more shocked by how a performer, was treated at any bar in San Diego.

The food here is absolutely amazing the Ahi tacos were the bomb. Some of the best in the county. And the cheeseburger was amazing. Active upbeat crowd great place to watch sports or just hang out. Comfortable atmosphere. Bartenders are fast and the drinks were very very well made not the typical that you get sometimes downtown or the PB area this place is a real Shining Star. Would highly recommend this place. The manager came over to introduce himself, man what a nice guy. I will definitely be back with my friends and family.

Mavericks is an awesome venue. It is considerably spacious and spread out. This place gets very crowded, so it is a great idea to get here early to beat the line. The dance floor is fun but also very crowded. Drinks are pricey. Also, there is a cover charge during peak times. Fun and lively atmosphere.I have only ever had an issue once, when I was mistakenly thrown out because I appeared to be sleeping by one of the security. But overall, Mavericks is always a great time and I always have fun and meet nice people.

Our favorite spot in San Diego to watch sporting games! We love the dog friendly atmosphere. They have many TVs indoors and outdoors to watch sports. We can always find our team to watch. Bartenders are very friendly and make great drinks. They have a good drink selection and we always get the mimosa bar for Sunday funday football as well as tequila. Such a positive vibe. Met great people watching the games. Feels like home.

If I could rate this place 0/0 I would.I spent my whole day sober celebrating my brothers graduation and came into this place hoping to continue the great day we were having but as soon as my brown bothers walk in the bouncer asks my brother how much he’s had to drink, he refuses to let him and my brother in when they didn’t do anything but show him their ids ??? They weren’t acting any type of way and being from out of town I was so confused ? We went down to another place and were also targeted. PB and this place are full of racially profiling bars. Never in my life have I left a negative review but this place was so out of pocket with the way they were acting. There was so many white girls behind us stumbling and slurring their words that were let in!! 0/0 would never recommend this place to my friends or family

Just came here today for Brunch and had a great experience. Many places in San Diego are not abiding by social distancing requirements and I was pleased to see Mavericks creating a very safe environment. They require face masks to get in and walk around. You may remove the face masks when seated at your table. Temperature checks and ID checks happen at the door. The tables were very clearly spaced more than 6 feet apart and all workers were wearing masks. They have TONS of outdoor space as well as indoor tables. If you order alcohol, you are required to order a food dish as well. They are limiting tables to 90 minutes.The weekend Breakfast/Brunch was extended for the holiday. It included $10 Bottles of Champagne and Rose which comes with a selection of Mimosa Juices!The food was very affordable. We got 2 coffees, a bottle of Brut w/ orange juice, avocado toast, and an acai bowl for $41!! The food and drinks were not amazing, but it definitely satisfied us. The vibes were great with lots of music and happy employees. I have never been here pre covid, but I could imagine this as a super fun place to go out.

This place is really cool! Chill vibe, fun games, lovely outdoor space, great deals... what’s not to love?? I came here for Taco Tuesday and got the $10 AYCE taco bar special and a $4 margarita. The tacos are way better than I expected and you get a lot of food for $10! The margarita was good (love the tajin rim) but wasn’t that strong. Their $4 well drinks are much stronger. They also had $4 tequila shots so you know ya girl got one of those too (no regrets). And as a bonus, they’re dog friendly! I’d love to come back here and try more soon.

I saw a post that it was $10 all you can eat Taco, it $15Margaritas:$4 its $5.It would get an extra star if the price were correct,Its still good value.

Went Thursday for “College Night”. They advertised $5 vodka red bulls. They honored the price. There was Red Bull with no vodka, I watched her make the drink and didn’t see any vodka go in. When confronted she said she put vodka in but I knew it was a scam. Avoid this bar.

We just walk on the street then We had an emergency for diaper change for my toddler, the security guard is soooo nice & caring & friendly! He leads me to the nice & very clean bathroom with a baby changing station! I will definitely come back here with friends❤️

The food here is amazing! Im so happy they have a keto option! Great taste, and portion sizes! The Cesar salad with grilled shrimp is my go to! 🙌🏼

In a group with the other recent reviewer. Borderline (generously - they’re well over the border) criminal operation. Watered down bottles for bottle service - absolutely do not spend money on them. As soon as they get your credit card, security will work hard to make you leave the bar

Went there after the Leprechaun 5k. Great English Muffin sandwich with roasted potatoes. Enjoyed my green pina colada and free michelob ultra. Great service at the bar upstairs! Fun atmosphere!

This bar is actually pretty cool. Great vibes. The people were friendly. The drinks were a bit pricey, but fair considering the location. The kitchen was closed before I could order food. I think it closes at 10pm on Saturday. It was pretty spacious, but we had to queue up for the dance floor inside. Would definitely go back.

Their Bouncers/security are trash. Also they do not accept Canadian ID’s when literally every other bar was fine with them.

Had the absolute worst experience here 0/5... would not come back and definitely warning people and friends to avoid this place! The security was so unnecessarily rude to my friend group. 1/2 our group went early and paid $20 just to leave within 15 min bc of the situation. Complete waste of money and our time. We hit up 2 other cars after and had no issues with ids or rude bouncers.My friend showed her valid Philippines passport since her license expired. The bald guy in the picture would not let her in saying the picture doesnt look like her when it looked exactly like her. We felt that she was discriminated against. She travels to many countries and has tsa pre check but this guy was being a d*ck not letting her in the bar. One of the female securities told our friends to just pull up her Instagram as a secondary form of proof and we can get in. The guy immediately said NO. IM NOT ACCEPTING THAT. We mainly went for the nightclub experience. It is a lot of EDM music. So if you enjoy EDM this might be the place for you. There are multiple spaces with different DJs and you have the liberty of going from place to place. There was a 10 dollar entrance fee when we went.

Bad bottle service experience, it took 45 mins to bring the bottle and there wasn’t an apology, the only answer was that they were busy and they are short staff, not even food takes that long. Horrible, I’m not coming back.

Nick, Jesus, Will and the rest of the security staff were awesome. Bar staff was second to none. Ill definitely be back on my next SD trip.Edit. Came back and was still impressed. Fan for life. Definitely on my list whenever work brings me back to SD.

They let people in then take your money and quickly churn people out. Drinks are illegally watered down and security tries to make you feel unwelcome as soon as they get your credit card information

This security lied while we were checking in and stated that we were smoking in the front of the restaurant and that he had it on camera in which I stated we dont even smoke where is the footage in which he responded that “they were not doing this tonight” doing what? You are lying on black queer individuals when we are already penalized for being who we are!! Fair treatment for one and all maverick where is it?

If you want a night to drink w/ friends and hang then yes. Space is cool, service was good and its mostly out in the open so you won’t be feeling hot. If you want a night of dancing then its not it. You’ll have to wait in a long line (apart from waiting in the line at the front door) for a small dance floor.

Spacious bar with a lot of seating. Not a lot of shaded spots and if so those get taken pretty quickly. The wait staff was a bit slow, but we came on a Saturday for football so I guess its understandable. I got a bowl and it was really good. As a PSU alumni great place to watch the game as well.

Such a fun place to eat, drink, and dance! Came here this weekend for a friends bachelorette party and had the best time. Everyone was very accommodating and the service was fast!Krysta was the kindest manager to work with for our group and I would definitely recommend for a fun time!!!

Visiting from out of town and had a great time watching the Chiefs vs. Dolphins game 1/13/24. Atmosphere was great, staff was super friendly and the food (California Fries) were fantastic. Can’t wait to come back!!

I went here when my son was visiting. We showed up on a Sunday afternoon between NFL games and good thing; because it got busy fast while we were sitting there. The place is huge! Indoor spaces, outdoor spaces, multiple bars and countless TVs with the game on.Staff was well training and kept service levels up; security had a good handle on the place.Fun place!

What a shame! Brought my dog after 7pm on a Sunday, bar completely empty, and they didnt let my dog in. What a shame! No reason!

My experience last week (12/10/2023) at this place is terrible! First, apparently this place makes it hard for a person of color to even enter! Secondly, the security is rude and will taunt you! In fact, I was tackled by 6 different security after one of them kept forcibly pushing me and my wife! I was arrested and charged with battery and drunk in public! Pure racism is the motive. Has anyone else had this experience?!

I went to an event on a Sunday evening and it was very well organized. They have a big outdoor area but do not worry about the cold weather since they have heaters around to keep you warm. I think they have 4 bars where you have a great variety of drinks. Great place to have fun with friends. I recommend having the Pomegranate Mojito👌

Mavericks was pretty much the go-to place for: food, drinks, sports, ppl watching and excelled in each area.For that reason, there was usually a line. Never too serious.Any of the food we tried was good. They had plenty of TVs to watch any game that might be on.There was a blue vodka frozen slushy drink, definitely need to try that.

Im not one for places with cover chargers but the experience at Mavericks definitely warrants shelling it out. Very large bar venue, two stages, live music, and a good mix of genres. While Im not a big country fan, I appreciated the rotation of 2000s pop, hip-hop, and occasion edm to dance the night away.As for the bad.... While I was not affected, their dress code definitely read as anti-poc whether intentional or not...so that wasnt cool....especially because it seems like they might enforce it on a person by person basis. Also the drinks were extremely weak (this coming from someone who can get a buzz off one beer) - I recommend a heavy pregame beforehand and sticking to the beer here.

I would say zero. My recent visit to Mavericks left me deeply disappointed. I witnessed a concerning incident where a security staff member aggressively took a drink from me, resulting in a spill that ruined my shirt. This behavior was not only disrespectful but also unprofessional. Additionally, the drink was served by the bar 5 min before closure which did not allow me to drink all this drink. Considering the price of such drink, I feel it was very incomprehensible that they kicked us out and took the drink right after serving it. Every staff member treated us like we were waisted (even if we were all very sober). I hope you’ll do better for the good of this bar.

Unpleasant Experience Due to Manager’s Attitude.I had a disappointing experience at this club due to the managers unacceptable attitude. While I understand the importance of responsible alcohol service, my friends were denied entry based on suspicion of being intoxicated. We were inside waiting for more friends to pass the security ID check, I saw my friends were singing and having a good time in the line, then the manager walked to them and asked them to step out. I went to check what’s going on and introduced myself to the manager, and he was so rude when I asked him about the situation. His answer was “You don’t need to know my name and I’m the one who decide who’s go in or out”.We felt unfairly judged and unwelcome, which left a negative impression on us. It would be great if he could implement a more respectful and understanding approach in such situations.The night didn’t end there, we canceled the table reservation and went to better place where they respect customers.

Although the service was commendable, the atmosphere failed to live up to expectations on a Friday night. It lacked the vibrancy and energy that one would typically expect from such a venue. As someone who was showing a friend around, I was disappointed that this wasnt the ideal spot to spend the evening.

Such a great vibe. Came here with the kids and loved it as they have games and a cool environment that was loud and didn’t feel like we were bothering others. However, the security guard, Will, was very rude right when we walked in which was a very uncomfortable welcoming.We came in for breakfast, not knowing they open at 11 AM, the gate was open a few minutes early so we walked in. Will immediately approached us and rudely told us we need to meet him back at the gate to check our ID. Over all the employees were great, other than the security guard, making us feel very uncomfortable, and not welcoming to the point where we almost left. Most likely will not come back.

Never been to watch a hoops game. It was awesome. Sweet seats on the couch, next to the fireplace. Considering how busy it got, service was great and food was yummy. Thx Mavs, we ll be back soon.

A staple of San Diego for great reasons. I’ve always had an enjoyable time at Mav’s. Dillon, as well as the other bartenders, are all exceptional at their jobs. Attentive, quick, and personable.

Great customer service, grest seating, food was delish, blueberry mules were my favirite. Spacious venue. Kind of off putting that no one including staff was wearing masks....

I loved this place until tonight when they kicked my short female Mexican American friend out for absolutely no reason. She was was ordering an Uber home, minding her own business. The second she was alone she was dragged down by a bouncer and told to leave with no explanation. My friends and I asked or one, and were legit told by the main bouncer out front “Fuck you, who cares, you were leaving anyways.” What a disrespectful response and interaction from the “security” at this club. Hard to feel safe when the staff doesn’t care about their real customers .

What an incredible place. It’s HUGE!Walking in security was extremely nice & professional. We sat down as the only area that was open was a small place out front & a small bar on one of the sides of the restaurant/ lounge. It was a Tuesday night but literally was the only place that was busy.I was hungry so I ordered some tacos. Great deal on taco Tuesday. $2.50 per taco. Spirits & Beer selection was pretty outstanding too. The only challenger is the the place is open until 2am but stopped serving food at 10pm. & It’s not just this place. It’s all the restaurants in the area.Our server was this pretty girl that was so sweet & friendly. I forgot her name. She was really very attentive & provided us with such wonderful service (& my favorite thing) & a HUGE smile.All in all, it was a last minute find & it was a nice & chill evening with a buddy of mine. I would definitely come back & enjoy a weekend night to see the difference.

Vibes were really great, music could have been better & DJ the day we went did not take requests. They have lots to do here ! Bartender gave many tasty tequila sunrises.

Worst place Ive ever been in my life! Security treated us super badly and pushed my friend to get out of the way because we would need a blue ticket and when we got the ticket I told her that she needed to be kinder and treat the best people, she approached me back from the restroom and put me out of the establishment and was very rude. I tried to talk to a superior who was probably not superior and only agreed. I dont understand a place that visitors dont have rights, even if its paying its, treated like an animal.

We had our 40th High School Reunion in their space upstairs. Great room with a balcony overlooking the street and out to the ocean. Fast friendly bartenders, excellent food and they let us keep the room an hour longer. Plus we got to watch the Padres crush the Dodgers in the playoffs. Does not get any better!!

Drinks were not good. One margarita was so terrible that we had to get it re-made.The drinks were expensive (even by SD standards).The staff was pretty rude, even though it was a slow evening.Overall a pretty bad experience. Definitely not worth going to.

Really weird. I went there with my brother, both over 21, at first we were served and it was good. We watched the football game, then quickly went home to do some errands. When we came back to join our party for a later game the bouncer tripped out and said our IDs were fake, he and the manager treated our whole party, that included our parents, very rudely and refused to serve us. I’ve never been denied service while over 21 especially with my parents there too. Idk why they were so concerned with our IDs, when we were with our parents and they had served us earlier. What the heck.

The security guard was so disrespectful towards the identification of a friend of our group, he was from Europe and showed a valid document which is written and regulated by the government as being a form of identification. lack of intelligence and capacity of the security guard who was at the entrance was not able to understand what it was. anyone who knows about laws understands. no wonder they are one day sued for discrimination. i am telling my close friends to avoid this place.

Pretty cool spot to get lunch or dinner with friends. The music was a little loud - gives club vibes for sure but otherwise everything was great. Carne asada fries were fire.

This place is awesome. The staff was so nice and courteous. After such a long drive we couldnt wait to eat. The food was first class. A little pricey but with inflation and all. We were so stoked to stop and try this place. Hope someday we get the chance to go again. Aeesome

Went for taco Tuesday. The service was great. Alley was amazing. Very attentive, recommended great tacos/ carnitas, and the drinks she made were legit. Watched us closely and even cut off one of my colleagues before he went beyond his limit. Gave us water in between drinks. The crowd was very upbeat and friendly. Close to the beach and was able to enjoy good scenery. Would reccomend..

Pretty decent bar just super busy especially at night. Lines can be fairly long on weekends. Good spot to have a few drinks but overall just okay.Music is decent dance floor pretty small. Warning lots of younger crowds frequent here. Parking is behind the place about $7 per hour.

Security staff will be rude to you in the women’s room while you’re sober and sick and then kick you out for getting defensive. I’m sorry but disrespect shouldn’t be met with respect in any situation in my opinion. My friend came in and DID NOT have anything to drink and this happened after she was in a stall feeling ill last night. My friend DOES NOT get mean. She’s nice to people when sometimes I don’t think she should be. This security/staff/whomever that was being rude claiming she was drunk and falling asleep banging on the stall door and MAKING FUN of her puking. Disgusting. I bet you can look at security footage and see that she wasn’t drinking. I’d get better staff. I’ve worked behind the bar, we don’t kick out customers or 86 without just cause— you had none. That security staff should receive deescalation training, things could go awry in the future if they refuse to learn how to work with the public, 100% unsafe in a bar/club setting.

Came to Mavericks for a friends Bachelorette party over the weekend & did their bottle services. We had an amazing time, the servers were great, security was fun to joke around with and the music was a good selection too.However right around 1 am a random guy grabbed a purse that was placed on the top of the couch. He then handed it to a girl who was looking through it. I went up to them and asked who’s bag was it, he said it was his wife’s. Since I was with a large group of girls & couldn’t remember what everyone’s bag looked like, I asked to show me the id. They started getting really sketchy and yelling saying they didn’t have to. At that point a few other girls came up to see what was going on & that’s when the guy turned it physical.Even after explaining what was happening to security both groups were asked to leave, per their policy & we’re charged for the full service (still had a half a bottle left). While waiting for our rides, I was informed bother the guy & girls were arrested.This should go without saying, keep yourself aware of your surroundings & don’t place your bag at a random booth (purse ended up not being one of ours).

What a great place! From dance club, to a bar/ restaurant you can eat and drink with friends to a backyard type hangout place with games like Cornhole and 4in a row. So much fun!Weekends tend to get really packed and busy and there is usually a cover charge. Will definitely visit this place again sometime in the future.

Waste of money. They play music that’s over 10 years old knowing it’s mostly 25 and under going to party. The brain dead enjoy their old tunes and after throw up all over their stalls. You wait in line for a club just to have the ugly security play with their tickets when you need to go to the restroom. They decide to be selective with who’s allowed to use the restroom and re-enter after you wait 1-2 hours. They are overly rude. A place like this shouldn’t be supported but is because the young people overlook it since they’re so mindless. On top of this, they’re racist. I heard the security call a colored woman by a racial slur. Not surprised. I’m sure in that area no one minds.

Very nice bar with a great atmosphere. We found that the bloody Marys were the beat bang for the buck.

I really enjoyed Mavericks for lunch. Their nightime club scene is a big deal, usually a line around the block, but Im past that life phase so I dont go after happy hour. Its perfect for meeting friends and coworkers for breakfast/lunch/brunch. Beautiful, sunny and bright little covered outdoor area, music volume is down low so you can have a quiet conversation without yelling at each other, service is good, and food is always bright and tasty! If youre younger youll want to check out the night scene but for us 40/50+ just looking for a cool spot near the beach to have a nice lunch, this is a good choice. And dont be fooled by what seems to be a small portion. Theyre filling and the right size!!

Sweet bar just in-land from the ocean. Very spacious with multiple rooms and bars. Plenty of outdoor space. The bartender we had was amazing. He was attentive, super fun to talk to, and pretty funny. Made my long island perfectly. Was very encouraging of me taking some shots, thats a good bartender!

My last time here there was trivia going that I didnt even know about. Wish I had shown up sooner to play, but we still had a great time. They have Jenga, connect four and probably some other games. Great replacement to what used to be PB Bar and Grill. Mavericks is open, multi leveled, has an ocean view from the balcony, has a great staff and is lively. The food looks great but I cant comment on taste. The cocktails are very tasty and they have a quality beer selection. Get there early to avoid the night when the line is long. Not a lot of parking options, best to Uber in and out.

Fun atmosphere! They had a football game on with the broadcast sound up so you could hear the calls. Also brought in a DJ to play music during the commercials. Great food and drinks! This is a great place to hang with some friends or watch the game!

If it’s only females in your group be prepared to be ignored by the waitresses; get your own drinks at the bar. couldnt help but notice the tables with men were being thoroughly checked on. Not a single time did the waitress came to check on us (2 females). We stayed for 3 drinks, cool ambiance, I just wouldn’t go back or recommend based on my personal experience.

Had a great time here. Came with some friends to celebrate a wedding party. The line to get in was long which is understandable. The facilities were beautiful, drink list was fun and quick. Service was too notch. Mulan the bartender was super helpful and did a great job with our group.

Upon arriving we stood in line to get our IDs verified, and then proceed to pay a $10 cover charge. I personally dont feel as if the cover charge was worth the entry. The drinks were all watered down and severely underpored, and the atmosphere was mediocre at best. The club is separated into 4 sections with a bar located in each section, a dance club with VIP booths, and outside patio, a sports bar, and what I can only describe as a cocktail lounge. In my opinion the drinks were also overpriced. If you are going to charge an entry fee then the drinks should not cost more than a bar without one. I ordered a double Rum and Coke and paid about $18.

The bells & whistles are great here but staff is is why this is one star. Being in service industry for years, this environment is unwelcoming. PB club experience with unfriendly vibes is why wouldnt recommend for tourists either. Unclear rules, enforced whenever when inside never explained before entering. No signs or anything. Plus you have to wait in additional lines again once you get into the bar at night to go into other rooms. Great concept poorly executed, too bad.

$20 a head even if you have more women than men. Take your talents to gas lamp for that price. Ended up with 4 girls and myself and they charged me $100 to get in. Shows me that they don’t care about the ratio Easily a 10-1 male to female ratio which the back room hides. More sausage there than a butcher. Not worth it at all better options in PB such as shore club and open bar that are free and have the same perks.

Racist and prejudice. The staff called me a “spic” and referred to me as a wet back. When I tried to complain to management the manager didn’t have anything to say so we left. Will not be getting bottle service from here again or giving my service again

This is a great place to watch football. The service was top notch, fun atmosphere, and the food was excellent. Id highly recommend it.

Where should I start: only bar/club that charges cover in PB - go there and get a BudLight for 15 bucks, unfriendly guests and security wherever u look. Wont let anyone to the main party-room after 1. Have fun.

Closing the night out! The route: El Perez for Comedy, Shore Club for a white claw slushy, Tavern for some ratchet music, and closing the night out at Mavericks as its the only place still popping on a Wednesday night.Im giving this a 5 because they truly are one of the nicest spots in PB. They have many areas for drinks, the bar tenders hustle, they have two separate dancing areas, and they are always busy so you are guaranteed to strike up a few good conversations. Only down side is they do have lines on the weekends, but its because everyone wants to be where the best music, venue, ladies, and drinks are!

Cool place. Very trendy. Lots of good looking people. Indoor and outdoor bar options. Games to play. Heaters for the patio for night time. They only have box wine and they chilled the cab for some reason. Lots of TVs but also places you can escape them as well. It gets really crowded on the weekends and there is a line to get in. If you are into the bar scene, its a decent place to mix in. Like the servers and most of the bartenders here too.

Went during their happy hour, drinks were decent price and food was pretty good. Bartender was kinda slow getting around to us but that was mostly because she was working by herself. Overall the experience was good and would definitely go again.

Sports bar turns into night club. I think it works for their target marker (which Im probably not). Drinks were good, decent beer selection, friendly staff. Probably would come again earlier in the day when its more sports oriented.

Good drinks and even better dancing. Lots of outdoors space to enjoy. Pretty pink lighting. And dayummm good FRIES! We ended up ordering another and they kept us dancing all night long

It would have been a nice place but legitimately I stood at the bar for 5 minutes and kept asking for the bartender and she walked past me 3 times and helped some guys that walked up each time instead of me while I was the only black female there. I wouldn’t pull the race card but she looked at me and told me hold on and then helped 3 guys that walked up after me and she noticed that. So I probably won’t be coming back or telling my friends to come back.

Mavericks is a Pacific Beach staple. It’s a more upscale and less rowdy spot. Sunday’s are the best days here. Mavericks has 2 floors with 2 different outdoor areas. Plenty of TVs for sports and 5 bars around the venue so getting drinks is never a hassle.The food here is surprisingly delicious. Mavericks always has a great atmosphere and never disappoints. Plus, it’s dog friendly!

This was a nice little place to get some food and have a few drinks with some friends. The only real problem I had with this place was the table was a little small and when they gave us the food it took up a lot of space. The food and drinks were great and the staff was very friendly and try to accommodate us the best they could. They were going to move us to a bigger table but we just moved all our stuff into one little tray and ate it off of one tray instead of having multiple trays. In this time of covid-19 little breath of fresh air to be able to go out and have a couple drinks.

I went to celebrate and I had a tequila shot, I’ve had many in the past, this one in particular just made me sick and had to you know throw up... The waitress was very nice at the beginning but followed me into the bathroom and OPENED MY BATHROOM STALL, invading my privacy! And told me and my party that we had to leave. Then complained that we left her no tip??? If there was limit of shots that customers were allowed to drink I wasn’t made aware of. If you like to have fun DO NOT GO HERE. They don’t care about their customers.

It was really packed with a lot of football fans. The vibe was good but the service was really slow if you sit inside and get stuck at the worst tables. The waitress was good to my husband and I but the rest of my party of 11 didnt have such a great time with the waitress. She wasnt happy about splitting the checks up in 4 and there wasnt anyone to help her.All in all she was great about bringing out the cake for my sons birthday and she brought out the plates with a smile.I will be back.

It is expensive but probably has the best dance music in Pacific beach. It has 2 dance floors one upstairs and one in the back. Bartenders do a great job of making sure people arent standing around waiting on drinks

Really modern large and upscale inside and out style beach bar and club. We went for Sunday brunch with a nearly three year old. Outside seating was perfect for our busy body. Though the buffet options were not Vegas crazy. They had a clean selection of very fresh well presented and cooked choices. It made me, my wife and my kid happy and all for a reasonable price. If I was single or clubbing age I could see visiting at night. Something tells me with the Giant Jenga games, bags and connect 4 there are more than a few ice breakers to increase the mingle effect. If we come back and are here for a weekend we will definitely hit up the brunch buffet again.

If I could give 0 stars I would. The staff is rude and unhelpful. The cover charge is over priced. And they don’t understand basic safety issues, especially for women. I wouldn’t go back to this bar if my life depended on it. To further clarify, as a woman not from the area, I asked for some help, and they were so rude. I spoke to the manager and I hope he educated the staff on safety and statistics of women being targeted. I have a bar tending license and I’ve worked in the service industry and I have never seen anything like this. If you are at all concerned about safety, go somewhere else

This place is fantastic if part of your group wants to play games and the other half just wants to dance! It has a little bit of everything and the bartenders are very knowledgable about different type of drinks! The bouncers are very strict and sometimes just too judgemental so if they could just calm down on that it would be great. I know they are trying to do their job but not everyone is out there trying to start something.

Outstanding social bar! You can even get bottle service for a night out with a big group. The tables are very cozy and comfortable and the bartenders are attractive and fast! You can play games on the front deck and can dance in two separate areas in the back or upstairs on the left. You can people watch on the balcony with all the people going by.

Bad attitude and hostile behavior by management and staff under them. They simply dont know how to handle drunk crowds or how to manage a bar; inexperienced and violent the worst combination.An establishment that won’t accept valid Federally issued IDs, such as visas or other official documents. Even when the person presenting such documents is clearly over 21, and the ID show the birthdate. Guards have a superiority complex and are plain rude. It’s a bad overpriced establishment.

Spot to be on a weekend. Line gets insane and cover after 10pm. Great DJ but another line to get into those areas which are annoying. Wish they’d just leave the doors open to not only let some airflow in but also let the crowd come and go to the bathroom or other bars as they please. Pretty yummy food though too! Horrible security. Repeatedly harass, improperly remove patrons from the establishment and provide little to no explanation. Example, a girl tripped on her dog leash mid day Saturday, security said she was too intoxicated, 3 dudes surrounded girl and kicked her out. I was involved at all but made a comment asking if it was necessary to corner this 52 girl with 3, 62 security guys and the GM felt I was going to cause a situation so he kicked me out as well and put a ban on my ID labeling me a dangerous patron lol. Consistent reputation in Pacific Beach as the worst security staff along with management staff, dont go! My word means little, so ask around when in town, people will confirm.

Trendy bar in PB but the wait is ridiculous at night... its just another bar people stop looking up down the block. Day time is fun and less crowded so its definitely the right choice. The dance floor is big but every bar has the same quality of music and the size is still smaller than moon shines dance floor. Reminiscent of Scottsdale bars, but less cool

This place is popular w the 20 somethings since it is in the beach. It has an open area w lots of tables and couches. Drink specials are pretty good during happy hour. At night there is a ridiculous line just to get in the door then another line to get a drink. Food is not bad but nothing extra special. It’s a local hangout for the younger crowd to get hammered and find a hookup

Our staff dont know how to use brooms so we chose environmentally unsafe cupware. Who needs a dishwasher anyways.Dont like taking your hat off when entering a bar because you have no manners? Great! Went on a Saturday night when it was massively crowded. I got there around 10 PM and there was a huge line to the end of the block just to get in. However, I will say that the line moved pretty fast. Great ambience that fits just about any mood youd be in whether you are there to chill and drink, watch sports, relax by the fire, or dance at one of the several clubs. The place is absolutely massive and the decor was amazing for a PB night spot. Since its in PB it is crowded with college students and young people. Youll definitely have to wait awhile to get a drink no matter what bar you go to in this place on a weekend night. This is where just about everybody goes on the weekend in PB.

Awesome bar. The lines get very long. Its a huge place with multiple bars. If you can get in to the upstairs bar youll definitely have a good time partying with the dj. The vibe is more expensive and classier than regular college bars which I like, but still alot of college students. So basically it has fun people, good music, & great drinks, and no dirty messy floors and restrooms or drunk people

Its December and the lights here are magical. Humongous spot with multiple bars, rooms, seating inside and outside.

I remember this space years ago and loved it then when I saw it was changed I was discounted until walking in. Played giant kings with some cool strangers got really wet when the blocks fell and loved the new look. Chill with lots to do.

They have great appetizers. I got the soup of the day and the quesadilla crips. Both were delicious. I love atmosphere and the chimney. And ou server was very attentive. Definitely recommend for happy hour.

I went on a Sunday early evening, and it was not too crowded. The interior was nice, and roomy and not too loud. On most evenings, especially the weekends, this place usually has a line down to the end of the block, and is a very popular place, due to it being the newest, hotspot of Pacific Beach. They have food offerings, and drink specials available.

Great atmosphere, cool space. Food was ok. Got the loaded avocado toast and while the ingredients were good, it wasnt good as a whole. Served cold, would have preferred room temp. Thick bread, would have preferred toast. And very blame. Needed Creole seasoning and hot sauce

Mavericks is awesome. For once there was no line so I waltzed right in. They seem to attract a good crowd. Good service, amenities and everything. 10 bucls for a beer but Mavericks still gets a 10 in my book.

Absolutely not foreigner friendly, they dont accept modern chipped german ID, driving licence etc, only passport. Makes no sense, i will not carry my passport to a Club. Security wasnt friendly at all

I like this place has patios, big windows and an upper level deck. So many PB bars are dark holes, why bother going to the beach if you dont want to be outside? Easier to get in here then the bars right on the water. Also more expensive, beers are about $3 more here than the bars on the beach with the views....

Good service and really large açaí bowls. Wouldn’t recommend buying the 32oz açaí if you’re not really hungry. This restaurant has a ton of outdoor seating and big tables in the middle. There are a lot of Adirondack chairs as well to sit around which is cool. Their avocado toast is actually avocado bread (bread isn’t toasted), so watch out for that. This place definitely feels like a nightclub + brunch spot, so if you like that vibe go here (carded at the door, club music playing, etc.)

Place looks nice I’ll give it that, be prepared to be bled to death with the drink prices. $15 to $30 per drink. No specials at all on anything, not worth going during these times. You will have to stay put like a child sitting at the dinner table and spend a small fortune if you decide you want to have more than 3 drinks. Not worth it.

This place gets a review from a perspective that isnt mine. I went mid day on a sunday. Its definitely got game day frat house vibes. Not a place I would go without a crew.

The bartenders are not the brightest. They argue with you when they dont know how to make a drink. Ive also been kicked out multiple times after one beer because the bartender says Ive had to many drinks. They kicked me out as they were waking up a man that was passed out at the bar next to me and simply told him no sleeping. Security seems to be nice at least. I will never be attending this place again as I always seem to leave there feeling like my race had something to do with my treatment. Could be wrong but literally have no other ideas.

You have to line to get in, pay $20 then line to get in to any kind of dance floor!! Took us 1.5 hours to get the kind of clubbing experience we wanted. Save your time and go somewhere else!

My Wife and I were turned away because we limit the stuff we bring out. I figured our Military IDs would be good. We were turned away because they do not recognize Spouse Military ID as a form of Identification.

Mavericks is a beautiful new addition to Pacific Beach. This place opened a week ago and its truly beautiful. The owners put a huge amount of effort and money into redoing this place. Came for the first time has we where walking past so decided to call in looks busy and vibrant. I agree with the comments about the door staff that they could use some customer service training. The waitress who served was very nice and friendly the food was amazing.will definitely be back.

This review is for the nightlife! We came here Thursday night to start our Bachelor Party trip. This place is huge! It has like 4-5 different areas and rooms, a rooftop, and a room thats more clubby with louder music and lighting. Every room kind of had a different vibe. They have big Jenga which who doesnt like. If you dont like Jenga, I dont trust you.It was kind of dead just because of the size of the place. Eventually, we made our way into the club area as others did and it got more lively in there. We ended up having fun there and forgot to move to the next spot. Next thing you know, its 1:45 AM and theyre kicking us out. Whoops. Being from NYC, were still used to 4 AM. This place seems like it would get packed on super nice days, sports days (so many TVs), and Friday/Saturdays for sure. If I lived in SD, I know this is a spot Id frequent.

A blast so many bars to choose from alot of floor to dance n great drinks but look at Ive $20 a drink so better pregame then spend over $100 for 5 drink isnt worth it to me. Fun one time never again going back.

Me and my friends were waiting to be seated and Tall black bald security guy told us to back off aggressively. If you dont like your job you should quit your job. We are not responsible for whatever youre going through although i believe if there was a woman in our group he would have treat us differently. I am disgusted by his behavior.

Wait in line to pay to get in. Wait in line for drinks. Wait in line to use the restroom. Wait in line to dance. If you like waiting in lines this place is great. Otherwise pass. Also, the club makes napkins fall from the sky... To clean up the floor? Not sure... but it was a sticky mess and stuck to my shoes. Also, smelled like vomit.

The service was off the hook!! The place was crowded, loud and fun as hell! The crowd was young. Being 60+ i was the Gramma in the crowd. Lots of adult games and the crowd was much like college. I showed up sober with friends to start our first bar of a bachelor party crawl. The bartender decided my congenital droopy eyes were off and tossed my from the bar and while I waited for the rest of my group, several security members tried to push me away. Shame since I was looking to celebrate my friend’s marriage.

Okay so I really like Mavericks. The food can take a while to be delivered if the kitchen is backed up. Its PB. My favorite is the buffalo chicken fries. The brunch mimosa has a range of juices. I think the champagne is $10 a bottle. Highly recommend Sunday brunch here.

Me and my friends had a great time here. We sampled a bunch of the foods from the bowls, wings, burritos and tortas! Everything was excellent. Service was great and everybody was really friendly. The design of this place is amazing. You can tell they spent a lot on all the little details that set it apart from other places in PB. The music and dance floor area are cool with a great sound and lighting system. The TVs are huge anf all over the place making this place perf3ct for football pr any other sport. I love the upstairs patio overlooking Garnet as well! Im looking forward to coming back!

Walked up to the entrance and felt disrespected the moment my friends and I walked up to support the establishment. The security was on a power trip and didn’t want the money my friends and I wanted to spend and was clearly had an issue with women having a good time!! Never will encourage anyone to go there, completely offended by such a disrespectful man and will never support Mavericks the rest of my life!!

Went there for breakfast with the wife. The burrito was huge and very good. We sat at the bar and the service was fantastic. The bar tender was very prompt and checked in with us often. Seriously, the burrito was huge. Bring your appetite.

Very displeased with the experience I had here. Came to visit my friend and we decided to come here because we heard it was popular. We came here to have a good night but were treated with no respect and that less than of what a customer should be treated like. I asked one the security guards a question to how long the wait was and he responded to me as if I was nothing and as if I didn’t deserve respect nor decency. Didn’t say anything to him to be offensive but yet I was being treated like a 16 year old not allowed to speak and ask questions. I am an adult and a paying customer deserve a reasonable service for what I spend. Especially since I paid a cover just to enter and then to buy drinks from this establishment.

Place was trash. Bouncer was rude. Drinks were watered down. Wouldn’t not recommend. We had a group of 5 and they let all of us in except for my friend who was our designated driver.

Mavericks has been around for a year and is one of the best night clubs in Pacific Beach San Diego. The staff is friendly and the drinks are reasonable price for a night club. There is a upstairs, level bar, dance area, and a play area for jinga and bean toss. Mavericks is my favorite place to be and go.

A run down place for the yonger drinking crowd. Is ok for watching ball games with friends. There is reasonable priced average food. There is parking available, but was closed for repair during my visit. You will like this place if you are a college kid, otherwise you will feel out of place.

I was going to give this place a 5 star because we had such a great experience Sunday watching a Chiefs game and drinking mimosas but when we went back today the security guard was so rude we left. We are from Kansas City and today was our last day in San Diego and we were excited to come back one more time before we headed home. I had my tiny backpack Ive been carrying the whole trip and there was a small bag of Cheezits and the security guard asked to look in my bag told me no food was allowed and I honestly didnt even know what he was talking about until I realized he was talking about the Cheezits. I told him go ahead and take it and he said you can throw it away in the trashcan over there. My boyfriend was so irritated he said we will go to the bar nextdoor so they got our money today. Maybe they should teach their security guards a little common sense before they lose any other customers, I wasnt trying to sneak alcohol or a meal in. The service Sunday was phenomenal and the bartender John was amazing. Sad one rude person can ruin your experience with the whole establishment

Awesome place to take a date or meet new people. Very abiotic place. Heat lamps are everywhere for the cold days. Bathrooms are not very clean (Its a bars expected).

I love what theyve done with the setting but if youre here for the food its expensive and its not that great. Come for happy hour and they dont have very many specials. Theres always beautiful people here and its a big college crowd and Military crowd.

Good staff, a dj who played enjoyable blend of club and dance music. Plenty of space for large parties. And kind patrons enjoying the evening. Id go back again.

Rude staff with entrance rules Ive never experienced anywhere else in the world.They do not accept EU drivers licenses or any foreign id except passports.It is a ridiculous rule considering many tourists would not feel comfortable with bringing their passport on a night out.Staff seem to take pleasure when informing guests who have travelled long distances to be at their establishment that passports are the standard form of id everywhere (its not outside of Pacific Beach).Will be reccomending family, friends and people reading this review to not visit this establishment. Enforcing a strict foreign passport entry rule is just another way of ensuring as few foreign people gain entry to the establishment as possible.America has plenty to learn when it comes to hospitality.

First time visiting PB in a while, I love what the old club Tremors has become! Atmosphere is great, music fantastic and drinks done well! A little on the over crowded side for a Saturday, hardly room to move but still a great time!

One of my favorite spots in SD. Fun spot with a nice huge outdoor area. Great for hanging out and watching sports and good food. Brookes has been the best bartended every time Ive gone in.

This place was so much fun! They have multiple floors with their own bars with cool places to hang out or to dance. Its a younger college crowd if thats your vibe.

Its only been open for a week and I have already been a couple times! My group of girl friends and I love it there. The atmosphere is great and I love how much room there is. Not to mention drink specials, outdoor games like Jenga, and the Carne Asada fries are a must!

Funny thing about Mavericks Beach club is that instead of putting up a picture of the real mavericks surf spot, they put a picture up of a wave thats actually in Tahiti. So they lose one star for the inauthenticity but other than that no complaints. The bartenders were nice enough and whole place is brand new and very nice.

This place is huge. Great for weekend partying by the beach. When its not as busy they contain the area to 1 or 2 bars to make it feel not as spread out. All staff has been pretty cool.

The security says we cant socialize with other parties but a girl in a swim suit talks and giggles with the security with the black braid and he lets her go socialize.... with another person different from her party. Then back to her own table so why should we listen to the rules. And my food order never showed up

Awesome ambience all evening.. enjoy out on the patio bar around 9-10pm, or dance to your hearts content around midnight in the inner club. Goof affordable alcohol and nice music to drink and dance.

Overpriced happy hour drinks. Watered down cocktails and can you say hipster bar? Came here on star wars day so they had some nice SW themed thing going on. They waitress dressed as a Leia slave was good eye candy, as was the tall, blond, athletic leggy girl serving us. But the clientele was a little too hip for me: 40 yr old dude with a mullet and twirly hipster moustache, new-wave-no-socks shoes, TIGHT pants......and a classic middle age beer belly, trying to hit on chicks half his age; high maintenance looking girls who just cant !; and bruhs everywhere.

Alex was a great bartender had everything on request all tasting great always go to him when going to mavericks !

Watched the world cup here and the atmosphere is great. Plenty of seating and TVs playing the match. The food was good and the beer selection on tap was great, plenty of local brewery selections.

Went to Mavericks today with a buddy. Excellent food and service. Our waitress Shelby was awesome. She had great recommendations for food and cocktails. We had the tacos, carne asada fries, and quesadilla with shrimp. Can’t say enough about this place. Definitely the place to be in Pacific Beach

Cool place to hang out and the tacos on Tuesdays is the best deal in PB. However they can decide to charge cover whenever they want which is irritating. 8pm is still early and my group wasnt expecting to pay cover. Ive been there on days when they dont charge cover til 10pm. I wish cover was a set time not depending on how busy they are

Great atmosphere good beats and even friendlier staff. Drinks are on point. Havent tried the food yet..But, go there the crowd is beautiful!
