I have not visited this establishment, but I was walking to my car and witnessed an employee carry a tub of used cooking oil and pour it into the gutter...Which then ran past my car and into the sewer. This is bad for our bay and NOT how restaurants are supposed to dispose of waste!
They tried to say I didnt pay a tab...I pulled up my statement and showed them I paid. They had no problem trying to embarrass me in front of other patrons. If you come here best advice I can give is just grab a drink then move on. This place is very clicky and Its unfortunate because not all of the staff act this way.
A great community Bar with awesome and attentive staff. The drink prices are great and the location is perfect. It has a welcoming feel when you walk in. I understand they’re trying to maintain it as one of the oldest running lgbt bars in the country…however, I would suggest some much needed rennovations, better lighting, diverse music, cleaner restrooms, interactive events, attract more womenx, queer females and also have food options. Other than that this a nice gem. Lets match or outbeat DC’s lgbtqia+ vibe…please! Just a friendly suggestion.
Thanksgiving 2023 was the worst Ive ever experienced. I was alone and very sad. I was distraught and needed to be around people, so I drove to Baltimore from Cecil County for Leons Friendsgiving dinner. I cant begin to tell you how being there helped me and how truly grateful I am for the wonderful meal. It was delicious and very generous. Very notably was the lovely lady videotaping the event. She could see the distress on my face when I was in line with my plate. While I was eating at the front bar, she approached me and asked to hug me. Ill never forget her kind words. Thank you, I needed that. And thank you so much to the establishment for offering such a gracious dinner to the public, to people like me who was lone during that holiday weekend. Leons is a great place everytime I go there. Everyone is so nice there. Its always a pleasure for a gay man to be with his community. Thank you.
Went out for drinks with a friend on October 12 and couldnt believe how little the bartender, Sven, cared. A customer knocked over a glass and it shattered onto the floor. He made no effort to clean up the broken glass despite multiple patrons asking him to. He kept saying Ill get it after my shift. It was hardly midnight and he was just going to let a safety hazard sit there for another 2 hours. Someone could have easily gotten hurt. Thats just not acceptable
Steampunk Alley isnt that steampunk, nor is it in an alley. What it lacks in naming accuracy it makes up for in character. The food is good, the bartenders are are some of the best around, happy hour is every day from 4pm to 10pm, and there are events several nights a week, from viewings of American Horror Story to RuPauls Drag Race trivia with a full drag show before and after, and Sunday night karaoke is always a blast. Not sure whether Steampunk is Baltimores best gay bar, Baltimores best dive bar, or both.
Amazing Bartender on a Sunday night he was friendly, kind and super informative. Plus 2 for 1 drinks under $6 dollars. Full bar with nice crowed. Karaoke 🎤 begins at 9pm. On Sunday. It was my first time visiting Baltimore and this was the spot.
Thought we’d give gay Baltimore a shot. Went here around 9:15pm on a Friday, left at 9:30 pm. Bar tender was busy, and took regulars who just walked in over us waiting 15 minutes. That’s trashy, so went to the wet brewery next door and got a drink once we walked in.
Baltimores favorite your uncles bar lol. Reasonable drink prices, down to earth bar. Ive been by for both evening hang outs, for Pride, and hey my best buddy arranged my karaoke bachelor party there during the day years back. Nice staff and always a good ol reliable.
They were serving doubles - two drinks for the price of one - when I visited. Its kinda a hole in the wall but thars part of the charm. There was a drag dance show, very friendly and helpful bartenders - fast too! Nice happy crowd, skewed slightly older but not by much, may have been probability/chance. Was good to change it up and visit Leons instead of Central (my personal favorite spot ) or the Eagle. Will be going back.
Although, I wasn’t able to get into the bar(do to door that I wasn’t able to open). I give it a 2stars because I see that it is wheelchair accessible. Hopefully, on my next visit to Baltimore, someone will help me open the door and maybe enjoy a drink with me.
Great drinks and wonderful people
My bf and I had a great time here. Very welcoming staff and patrons, all 6 of us strangers around the bar were engaged in friendly conversation. Plus, a convenient walk to and from Hotel Brexton to get your sauce on.
Its two gay bars attached by a hallway and a bathroom and one side is more Steampunk themed while the other side is just strictly as Blue Oyster as it gets. As a straight man, my judgement may be skewed or unreliable, as far as this place is concerned, but I have been here numberous times with karaoke friends and always found the staff to be friendly and excellent at their jobs, and the atmosphere is very encouraging and welcoming toward singers of all skill levels.
The nicest barmaid ever works there! The drinks are reasonably priced and they have 2-for-1 drink specials every day from 4 to 10pm. They have free popcorn! Its a happy place!
Not very steampunk-y, save for a propeller hanging on the wall. The bartender looked genuinely afraid of me and my friends and was super anxious/nervous when taking our orders. Had my one drink and quickly left because I felt as if my patronage was not wanted
Ive been trying to contact Leons for months about a falsified credit card tip. I purchased two drinks for a total of just over $10, left what I thought was a generous $10 tip that was charged as $1,000. Called and called but no one ever answers the phone. Finally had to submit a dispute with my credit card company. KEEP YOUR CREDIT CARD SLIPS, folks - who knows whether this is an innocent mistake or something intentional, but its been a nightmare trying to get this resolved.
I agree with the description of “laid back”, and “intimate”.I dont know if there were public restrooms in this bar. It wasnt clearly marked, so I went to the streets.Staff appeared to be honestly friendly.
Fantastic, freindly , fast bar tenders, all the people in the place were nice , no problems at all , the karaoke was a blast and the host was top notch with a huge rotation he just kept it flowing ... hats off to this place , next time we are in Baltimore we will definitely come back
When I lived in Baltimore, I was there almost every week. Great crowd, very low key and more for chatting and meeting guys. The bartenders Mark and Joe are the best!
V is the best! Such a thoughtful, fun and professional bartender who made my anniversary magical. Ill come back just to drink at her bar.
Gurrrrrl, you gotta go! Snag your best gays and go getta drank from Miss Veronica. Have her make you the Out of Towner. Its a mess of different things that taste soooooo good, Henny.
The quintessential Baltimore gay bar. A loveable, friendly dive with buy-one-get-one drinks. Whats not to love?
Nice gay bar. Everyone was friendly. It wasnt packed and it didnt get packed through out the night.they say gays of Baltimore all left to DC
Great hole-in-the-wall joint. Friendly staff, good prices. I dont think they serve food anymore, but thats forgivable. Ill be back.
In 2021 this is Baltimore only reliable diverse lgbtqia+ bar with good priced drinks, happy staff and spacious setup.
If youre looking for a great bar with friendly service, reasonably priced drinks, and enjoyable events, I highly recommend Leons
Havent been here in years! Had a great time at the Backroom! Great music and of course a great happy hour!
I always have a good time here. People are easy to talk to and drinks are well-priced
Small bar but attentive bartenders and good drink specials. Food is fantastic especially at midnight!
Good place to hang when out with friends but bad when youre alone. People are very clicky here and Im guessing not into diversity.
Still the best bar to get drunk. Cmon guys, keep the liquor flowing and meet me and my husband for 2-4-1!
This bar has been in existence for 60 years. One visit and you will understand its longevity.
Karaoke on Sunday night! Great bartenders and fantastic patrons.
Fun neighborhood gay bar. Nothing spectacular, but drink prices are reasonable.

Ghetto security guy who looks you up, and down, bathrooms are dirty as hell, pics on the floor, and has an odor.
