I had my first facial here at age 53! I loved it so much. I’ve already been back for my second! Exhale is so inviting and welcoming when I first got there. The front desk staff is the best! They take the time and the tour they give us so amazing! Everyone there’s willing to go above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. I am a customer for life!

Went in and experienced an amazing massage! Great service at the front desk very helpful provided me with excellent check out service. Such a clean space. Also went in to enjoy a yoga class it was very peaceful and relaxing but also a great workout. The inside was beautiful and I definitely recommend checking out the hammam, I did it both times after my yoga class once, and after my massage. Better than a sauna, love the cool refreshing face towels they provide. The blonde lady at the front desk even went in to provide me a tour of the spa prior to signing up for my membership!

Great spa but mandatory $44 tip! 🗡️I recently booked a few sessions with Exhale spa.The spa itself is very nice, with a serene and welcoming atmosphere. The therapist was professional and attentive. She conducted an assessment and tailored the treatment accordingly. However, I was taken aback by the mandatory $44 tip added on top of the already substantial cost of the spa! While I appreciate good service and am happy to tip, the mandatory nature of it felt a bit excessive and unexpected.Whats worse is when I returned for another session the next month, I found they had saved my credit card on file without my permission!

Wow I would give 6 star if I could.I had facial with Angela (?) a classy older European lady, and it was the best facial I’ve ever had. So attentive, so gentle calm relaxing. My skin looked and felt amazing. She educated me, and gave me some very inexpensive(!!) recommendations for my skincare regimen.I had booked the facial on ClassPass, and two other spas cancelled/rescheduled with no explanation. Finally I booked at exhale, and called to confirm the appointment, and I am so glad I ended up here. First of all, it is much nicer and more amenities than spas in newbury street&back bag.The front desk staff were also so helpful with tour info and services. and not rude or anything. Very refreshing.Definitely a place to spend some time to unwind in the sauna or hamam afterwards.

June 28, 2024, I had a massage with Nick and a pedicure with Lina. Lina was great - if I had only received the pedicure - it would be 5 stars! Now, Nick (who was nice and professional) knew to do the amenities (applied the heated neck brace and warm eye compress), but did not know how to massage! When he first started he asked if the pressure was good and it was. But the pressure became lighter and lighter! He seem scared or nervous? I felt it - he wasnt confident.Even his left arm/hand shook from time to time! It was like an old lady trying to rub me! Even using his forearm/elbow felt like a slick piece of paper going across my back! I hated when he used his forearm! I got the Flow Massage because its suppose to be medium pressure and not a painful deep tissue massage! I asked for a male therapist as their hands are normally large and can apply pressure. Not Nick! I was upset I had to tip him $44.00 - are you crazy? Lina was good and deserved her tip! Nick did not deserve his at all! I felt cheated. The receptionist was nice, but stayed away from her desk for a good 5-7 minutes. When I arrived, she showed me the locker room, etc. - took about 2-3 minutes tops. Upon checking out, she took a new client in the back and I waited, and then we waited and waited as the lounge area was filling up. There was a line when she returned to the desk. I was the first in line and didnt feel comfortable going through all the specifics about Nick in front of everyone. I let her know that I wasnt happy with the massage and she checked me out. I left, saw the tip and returned to the front desk and waited till everyone was gone before being specific about Nick and how I was displeased with the mandatory tip. She said someone would get back to me - and no one did. Im not sure about Exhale.

I am so impressed with the staff at Exhale Spa. I visited Exhale to unwind with a massage and facial to start my summer off right. I was greeted by friendly, helpful professionals the moment I walked in the door. My service providers could not have been nicer and more communicative in terms of what my needs were and how they could go about meeting them. The atmosphere was relaxing, the massage pressure perfect and I was introduced to the Hydra Facial. which I opted for. It was the best facial I have ever received! King checked me out and he was gracious, professional and kind. Exhale made today a very special day from start to finish. Having been to many top notch spas in my day, I would highly recommend booking at Exhale. You will not be disappointed!

It’s a bummer that one negative experience can change your opinions on a place that you’ve enjoyed going to.After getting several spa treatments at exhale they told me I should really become a member where you get a discounted service each month after automatically being charged $189 each month for your service.I forgot the first month and then when I was charged again called to schedule my service and was hoping to use the last credit I had too on a different service. apparently, the service just expires if you forget and you lose your $189 payment.the woman I was talking to told me to call back when the manager was in so I did and told her I didn’t feel the membership was sufficiently explained to me so I could I have an exception this once now that I understand and she was incredibly rude and had a rude tone and told me “being told I have a service to use each month is sufficient.” But there was no caveat to make sure you use the service or you’ll be charged again and they just will continue taking your money.Really disappointed because I’ve enjoyed this spa several times over the years but feel like I just got scammed and was treated really poorly despite being a repeat customer over the years.

Massage was good, no complaints about the quality BUT, it started 10 mins after the hour and I didn’t get the time back at the end.I arrived 20 mins before the hour and was told to wait in the reception area where my therapist showed up 1 min after the hour with pleasantries and small talk. By the time we finished talking about my problem areas, I changed clothes and she came back, 10 mins evaporated. I consider these tactics equivalent to cheating or “gaming the system”.A massage should start on the hour, not a minute later. Therapists should know ahead of time what each customer’s troubles are from an online questionnaire and customers should walk into the rooms well ahead of a session to get ready. None of this is happening and Exhale is happy to let their therapists cheat while levying a 20% mandatory tip on customers at checkout

Unfortunately I think this spa isn’t great. We had a girls weekend and we booked 4 appointments. Our Uber got a little lost so we got there a few minutes late. We checked in and not one person said a word to us about getting there early or maybe moving quickly so that we can get to our spot treatment. We changed and went into the waiting area and all four of our spa associates were waiting for us. The place was empty. We went into our spa appointments, and they ended exactly at The 50 minute mark that would have been the end if we weren’t late Essentially, we ended up with about a 35 minute massage. The massages were OK and seen with the facials. There were numerous. Associates just waiting around not doing anything so it wasn’t like they couldn’t go an extra five minutes. Very disappointed when I told the front desk they just said yeah we go to the 50 minute mark and that’s it based on your appointment. I know we were a few minutes late. I would’ve expected an extra five minutes past the time and that would have been fine. We’ve all been numerous spas, so it’s not like we haven’t had experience. I wouldn’t recommend this spot to anyone in the future at this point. Boston is a huge city with lots of spas in the next time we visit we’ll visit a different spa.

My slice of heaven in Boston - the most amazing yoga experience! These yoga teachers (Sandy Klemmer, Haley Dawn, Scott Trippy) have changed my life.Plus the most relaxing shower, sauna, and hammam experience. I’ve been a member for over a year - coming 5 days a week for yoga classes. Was gatekeeping this place because it’s rarely packed, but can share now that I moved out of Boston. What to expect:1) all the amenities of a spa (towels, robes, slippers, tea, water), clean showers (with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion)2) variety of yoga mats (jade or manduka) that are cleaned and rolled up for you after every use3) the most kind and thoughtful yoga teachers that incorporate the mindfulness aspect, not just about doing hard poses. You are talked through every move with variations for beginners to advanced.

My first time at Exhale, I went to their yoga class and loved it! The sauna inside the locker room was a plus! I also forgot my iwatch and the staff member was nice enough to answer the phone, go look for it and wrap it up for me safely to pick up.The 2 stars is for my 2nd visit which got me really disappointed. I booked the “lux pedicure” which was nothing close to lux for a price tag of 104$+20% tip. I’ve been to many places in Boston where you pay that price for a gel pedi /mani and an experience that’s actually “luxurious”. First, my assigned staff member was nice and polite but the technique used was less than basic and outdated. I think it’s not hygienic to poke customers with your nail in order to wipe excess nail polish, and she used a wooden stick to clean around the edges! I mean what happened to simply using a small brush which doesn’t injure the toes and does a neater job. I came home with injured toes unfortunately and now I have to figure out how to avoid an infection. The experience only included a hot wax wrap and a scrub after the feet Jacuzzi. The nail polish application wasn’t tidy and it ended up smudging before I got home. Not to mention how underwhelming the nails space looked.. it didn’t reflect how nice the other spaces were which makes me think that this facility doesn’t provide nails services as their main focus. The wooden floor had some actual holes.. and the whole nails area looked not “spa” like. I wasn’t able to relax compared to the other spaces. As a customer paying that amount for a pedi, I’m expecting a zen space with a relaxing atmosphere, Being offered water, a warm pack for my shoulders, at least 2-3 sets of foot scrubs and treatments, plus a warm towel wrap to end it up. Also, actually providing a station to dry off nails before leaving, other than the useless fan..these are few examples that actually exists in places I usually go to in the Boston area for literally half the price (another reason why you should skip this and supporting local businesses who actually care to customise their experience) .I might come back for the yoga (shoutout to the nice instructors) , but this place lost me as a spa customer.

I was lead to the Quiet Area, which by the way is mot really that quiet, so hard to get into a relaxed state of mind. I got a pedicure first and when I was brought to the nail tech, they asked her if she was ready and she stated not really. Not exactly what ya wanna hear. The deep tissue massage was amazing and the masseuse was great.

I was a member of this spa for a while and it used to be great but the service has gone so down hill - don’t waste your money here, they don’t treat loyal customers or their staff well. Some recent incidents:1) Cancelled a couples massage I booked as a Christmas gift as we were walking to the spa because they never rebooked one of us after an employee left (weeks earlier). Ruined the day I had planned as a gift and also took money away from my therapist who no longer had a client that day. I asked for a refund for the gift card I had purchased for these services and they refused.2) went in with a friend for massages and my friends therapist she specifically booked accidentally took the wrong person in the waiting room. No one noticed for a while so when she did get a therapist it wasn’t the one she booked and it was less time because they were late. When we talked to the employees at the front desk they offered no discount or apology and suggested we don’t leave a tip for their therapist if we weren’t happy - it wasn’t at all her fault, she stepped in to help in a bad situation and they suggested we not pay her for their mistake.3) I was a loyal member for years and had never missed an appointment. I called the day of a massage in August because my dog needed emergency surgery and I couldn’t make the appointment. They refused to waive the cancellation fee despite my situation or loyalty. In fact, they tried to charge me a cancellation of the full price that my massage would have been PLUS I lost my monthly credit as a credit.Skip it, there are way better spas in Boston.

This was the worst manicure I have ever gotten. Although my nail tech was nice, she destroyed my cuticles, leaving an open wound on my thumb just from being careless and over filing. She got polish on my hand and instead of using acetone to remove it, she filed my skin leaving another open wound. To make matters worse, they charged me the full cost and my polish was chipped two hours later. If you want a manicure I DO NOT recommend this spa.

Our group of four went to Exhale during the holidays for a reset. We had late appointments which we were on time for, but my massage seemed a little rushed. The therapist I had was not consistent with the massage as far as technique. She even checked her phone a few times during the massage. One other person in our party only received a facial and stated that her person chewed gum throughout the facial. The other two massages were ok. The quiet area with the water/tea needed tidying up and a majority of the lockers were broken. Just wasn’t the Exhale experience that I was used to.I will not return.

Did not have a great experience here.- Globs of hair in the womens shower stall.- The sauna on the mens side was not turned on - so was not hot and therefore not usable.- Very expensive massage for what it was - $360 for an 80 min massage.- The therapist also asked me if I would like CBD oil/cream added for $50 - I said yes. But then the spa added an additional $10 charge to it for tip!! I did not think that was appropriate.- The worst part was that both my husband and my massages were supposed to be deep tissue massages. Mine was fine - but my husbands was NOT deep tissue. In fact - not sure what she did to him - but he left more tight then when he arrived. He could barely stand up and walk - and was in a lot of pain!- We will not be returning.

There was no calming start or ending, no customization of lotion or oil, no warm props used during the massage, not even anything covering your eyes when you’re face up. This spa forces a 20 % gratuity which i find incredibly overreaching. its not costumers obligation to pay the massage therapist, its the spas responsibility. putting it onto the costumer is not acceptable. also making this a cashless spa brings serious implications for encouraging a cashless society were every single transaction is monitored by our banking institutions. this is against the fabric of a free america that is sadly disappointing in physical currency due to establishments like this one. for this reason, i will not promote nor return to this spa until both policies are changed.

I stayed at the battery wharf hotel for my boyfriends birthday. The wharf was great. Lovely place. Lovely staff from reception desk to valet. And i booked treatments for his special day. Be warned, if you book a spa treatment be very aware that they will suggestive upsell but not necessarily tell you its an upsale or add on. Example. I booked a facial and while i was in the facial room the esthetician recommended a facial based on my skin, however i assumed that the $190 cost of a facial was what the price was for the facial like any normal person. Especially because i have never had one before. She said “I recommend a hydrating facial” that will make your face glow. “Awesome” i said. Sounds good. Not knowing that she was upselling me. After the treatment she had me sign an upgrade sheet for the services she “added on” to my facial. I was a bit taken back. She was a real sweetheart but i feel it was a bit underhanded to not let me know the type of facial she was recommending for my skin would have cost extra, i just wanted a basic facial. I assume when the esthetician says “lets do a hydration glow facial” (or whatever the exact name was) it was just a standard cost. My $190 facial turned into a $315 dollar facial. The treatment was great, dont get me wrong, however how it was presented to me was, i feel, purposely deceiving. I paid the cost but it was a bit offputting. Coming from 25 years of sales background there is a certain standard to keep your client informed on what they are paying for, and not feel like they are being what we call “sharked” and informing the client before the service not after. A simple “the hydration facial will upgrade the cost $125, are you ok with that additional cost?” Would have been the correct way to handle that in my opinion.

The massage itself was fantastic!however the last thing i want when I’m paying a premium for a spa day is to to feel like I’m being upsold consistently. From the second I walked into the massage room, I was asked what oil I wanted to use (CBD or aroma therapy) and no mention of a cost difference between the 2. I asked which one is better, which is when I found out about the $45 upgrade fee for the CBD. Then upon leaving an amazing massage, the front desk asking me if i want some type of package. Everyone was nice, it just wasn’t what I was expecting — I expect that experience at a place like Massage Envy. I know it’s a business but just felt very strange to do in person, send me an email or something vs messing with my zen in the moment. In the end i wanted to try some place new but moving forward I’ll probably just continue to splurge at the Mandarin spa.

After spending a 4 hour drive with my pregnant wife from Albany I looked forward to a relaxing couples massage. We booked a couples PM massage at Exhale to relax before checking into our hotel room next door on battery wharf. My wife called reception and notified them of our anticipated delay traveling that AM prior to us leaving Albany NY. We were assured pushing our appointment out 30-45 mins would not be a problem. Upon our arrival, the receptionist made it aware to us we had 15 minutes left to prep dress and enjoy the remaining time of our appointment. My wife and I both enjoyed a nice 5 minute massage for $400.00 with absolutely zero customer service and or satisfaction. My massage therapist was great and super understanding, she also tried convincing the receptionist to be real on our behalf, which was rudely dismissed by the young she-devil behind the counter. I’ve never been so brutally disrespected and abused by a functioning business before. As opposed to cancelling or rescheduling our appointment we were scammed and lied to by exhales front desk. No coupons, discounts or offers of any kind were given to offset our loss. I will be rating this as one star, as zero is not an option, here as well as elsewhere.

My experience at Exhale Boston was mixed. To start with the positive the front desk staff were very attentive, kind and responsive. We were greeted warmly and offered water followed by a tour of the facilities. The actual spa facilities were lovely and the massage I received was fantastic. What takes off stars in the experience I had with my manicure and pedicure. For what they are charging for these services you would expect a lux experience. This could not be farther from the truth. The mani/pedi room is worn and aged and could do with updating. The woman who preformed my mani/pedi seemed very uninterested and unhappy being there. During my pedicure she clipped my cuticle to the point of bleeding and dug so deeply into my toe nails that I am still in pain the next day. My manicure was rushed and some of my nails are not even painted to the edge. While waiting for my nails to dry she simply left and I had to gauge when I was good to leave. The nail care services are doing what could be a wonderful location a true disservice. Overall I would come consider coming back for a massage but would never have a nail service here and would warn others to stay far away from the nail room.

Im giving Exhale two stars for the facial I received. However, I would not recommend you waste your money on booking a service at this facility. I think that for the money you can do much better booking at G2O or another Exhale. Heres why: tattered bathrobes, flooded shower area with no towels, ripped shower curtains, rot and rust. dirty restroom facilities, there was also a pile of vomit on the ground outside the window along the harbor where my treatment took place... I was NOT impressed. I would have understood if it was due to group exercise classes but me and a friend were the first ones there. I will not be returning and its unfortunate since I just visited back in May of 2017 and it was amazing!

I love the upscale spa atmosphere of Exhale -- I am instantly relaxed once I walk into the dimly lit waiting room. Admittedly, Im very picky when it comes to massages, but Nora and Suzanna are seriously the best. The spa services are definitely on the pricey side, so I would suggest waiting for a flash sale on Gilt or Rue La La! Also, if you sign up for their emails they tend to have frequent promotions. Check them out!

As a health care professional, I have done my research with skincare and facial products. After moving to Boston, I started seeing Victoria to improve my skin care regimen. Hands down she is the best for facials!! I have noticed such a difference in my skin over time. Less redness, more even tone and thats all thanks to her expertise. I have also sent friends & co-workers to see her at Exhale (with all different skin types) who have had great results. She is sweet and down to earth and takes pride in her work. Overall, highly recommend!

Classes are good, but they sign up your for membership without explaining that they require 30 day notice to cancel it ( receptionist said that you can cancel at any time when I asked her). They also don’t give you a copy of contract so you know it in advance.

I had a 6:00 pm Express Manicure never happened, because their miserable tech stated at 5:50 pm, to me and her associate that she didnt want to wait the 15 minutes it would take. I use to be the manager of a salon for several years, additionally I have been going to various salons (from street corner Vietnamese to high-end Spas Internationally) and I have never witnessed a ruder, more selfish example of piss-poor service in my life. This was my second visit to Exhale. The two massage I have received were stellar! This visit credited me for service that was not performed on my first visit (I was suppose to have had 1.5 hour massage, but received a 1 hour service at that time). Evidently, I am very unlucky with my experiences at Exhale and I have learned my lesson.

The massage therapist was fantastic! However the front desk service was rather disappointing for all the money that is spent to enjoy a day at the spa.

Okay, let me first say that battery wharf just won best day spa in boston...so that is BIG news!!Learning this I had to go there myself to see what all of the buzz was about. I did the week of transformation (BEST DEAL!!) $30 for one week of unlimited classes and $25 off my 60 minute massage - sign me up, please!!So the nice girl behind the front desk told me that I needed to try a barre class. WOW. I was shaking and discovered muscles that I didnt even know that I had - probably because they were hurting so badly from never being used. I took 4 barre classes in my week - crushed it!- and I can already start to see the difference in my body! I cannot wait to see what more classes will do for me!I was told that I need to balance out the barre with some yoga and opted for the waterfront yoga on monday night. It is taught by Larisa, and it is the perfect start to my week! She is funny and really takes you away from any worries of your every day life. I will definitely be adding this monday night class to my practice!!Finally, I had a massage with Nora. She was amazing! She is a natural born healer. I have literally never felt so relaxed, and after all of those classes my muscles were in need of some work!! She put me into this trance, no seriously, I actually fell asleep!!!I will definitely be going back to battery wharf, Im even weighing membership options!!!

Great spa for fitness classes. They have a packed schedule with lots of yoga offerings and core fusion classes. The barre and bootcamp classes are an hour long and leave you drenched with sweat. Beautiful spa facilities as well and you can buy yoga clothes in their shop too. They have it all!

Booked a spa afternoon with friends to celebrate someone’s birthday. I booked a massage and it was literally the worst treatment I’ve ever had in my life. The person spent a third of the time walking around the room after showing up late (when I arrived 20 mins early), applies no pressure, covered my nose and mouth after I repeatedly removed it and asked for space and then worked the entire time in my legs and arms when I asked for only head and neck. Add insult to injury when I told them it was the worst experience ever they responded w a 40% discount and a 40% off voucher for a return visit. I’ve been to amazing spas all over the world and low keys spas and you couldn’t pay me enough money to be tortured here again.

Massages and Facials were fantastic but the front front desk people were awful. No customer service, screwed up the booking, and complete lack of customer service skills. What was supposed to be a fun girls day out turned into a complete let down. Will not be bringing my business back here!

I have been a member at Exhale Battery Wharf for almost 6 years. Everything there is top notch from the classes to the spa. I have tried other Barre classes in Boston and they do not come close to Exhale. I recomend trying Acupuncture, a true facial (they taylor it to you!) and/or a deep tissue massage. The Spa is very relaxing and includes a beautiful hamam! (Coed steam sauna) nothing feels better on a cold day in Boston. It is worth the trip!

Core fusion classes - LOVE LOVE LOVE. The facilities are beautiful, much better than Back Bay. The teachers are great, incredibly talented, and very passionate about their line of work. The classes will absolutely kick your butt in the beginning, and somewhat kick your butt about three months after you religiously attend (I can finally make my way through all the thigh and seat work without stopping after three months). For traditional class, try Open. Tons of pushups, Sport. A cardio workout, Cardio. Maybe the hardest of all of them, Thighs and Gluts.
