Place was fine, cool history back to the Boston area. Just had a few beers. The DJ was setting up.

I came here last night for a bachelorette party after bar hopping and going to lame bars with over priced drinks and bad music. The silver dollar did not disappoint!!! The vibes were vibin. The dj was amazing and took song requests! We had a dance circle and brought the house down.

We went for the monthly wrestling show and had a blast! I wouldnt recommend it for anyone who is sensitive to loud noises, but its a blast!

Went on a Saturday night 3 weeks ago. The DJ played a great mix of music between the 90s to current, loved that! Atmosphere and ambiance were ok. I wanted a simple place for me and my girlfriends to go to for not overpriced drinks, a dance floor and good music, this place checked all those boxes.

If your an original Charlestonian you would know how tremendously this place has changed . They got rid of original crew & change the genre of this bar . They used to play the latest music and it was always a good time , now they only play jazz or rock . Me personally I’m not into that , but to each is own . Kitchen has never been open because they don’t have kitchen crew . Drinks were fairly priced , but they are getting rid of everything we’re used to for the new people in town . Will no longer be returning here , I’m sure they’re aware they lost a good percentage of customers .

We made a special trip to see their Acoustic Fridays at 6:00. They were closed. Silver Dollar is a waste of time.

Its a bar with good service, nice for the area.

Ms. Balmain Paris was in the house that night. I had the best time of my life. Amazing people. The drinks and bartenders were amazing. 10/19 my birthday. Saturday 10/21 I will be coming back.

Silver Dollar has always been a good time! The bartenders are amazing and the DJ/Music is on point. If youre looking for a more laid back, casual dance club I would recommend this place.

Not typically my kind of place but the drinks were fairly priced and the service was excellent. loss of one star for how loud the DJ was playing but some people may be into that

What kind of regular degular bar has a dress code? They’re nowhere near fancy enough to turn people away for graphic T’s, be realistic.

Had a great time here with some friends and the drinks were good. Staff was okay and the music was really great cause the DJ was the best thing about this place

Fun spot. Went on a Wednesday night. Good crowd, karaoke, and pool.

Tunes were good. Perfectly balanced gin & tonic from the girl working Saturday night Christmas weekend.

Had a good time with a group of friends. the bartenders were very nice and had fun personalities which made the experience even better.

Went for a bachelorette party Friday night and had a great time so we went back Saturday night (after visiting other lame bars). Both nights were fun, casual, and there were a ton of friendly people. Live music was fantastic and so was the DJ! Definitely our favorite spot on King.

Worst bar I have ever been at. The bartender will pick and choose if they want to serve you. I had one bartender look at me, turn around, then help someone else. This happened multiple times. On top of that my food took about 1.5hours to come out and was mediocre. Further, the bouncers will follow you into the bathroom every time you go in and just flat up watch you. Then if you don’t seem like you’re going to by another drink or whatever reason, the bouncers will throw you out. I saw multiple people randomly kicked out for no reason. Plus on top of all of this I heard from customers that they were trying to plant drugs on them because their tab ran out and wanted them to leave. There are so many better places to go to other than here. Don’t take the bad reviews lightly, the more you look the more you’ll see that these things are reoccurring all the time.

I was gay bashed outside of this place by the bouncer. He told me I was “too faggoty” to stand outside of the their establishment and picked me up and threw me up against the building next to the bar. Absolutely awful experience! My cousin literally picked me up from the ground. I am filing a police report! Totally unacceptable behaviour!

I had an absolute blast at this place! The bartenders, Sean, Shanda, and Kate are some of the best to do it. They always make sure you have a good time as soon as you walk through the door!

While living in Goose Creek, one of my favorite memories would be coming down to Kings Street and spending the evening at the Silver Dollar.A great bar to sit down and watch the football game as the sun sets, Ive made plenty of friends chatting at the rail, but the best is when the city shifts to the nightlife.This bar becomes the perfect dance place as long as you get there early, with great music, decent prices, and the rhythm of Charleston to keep you up on your feet.Amazing place; would crash bachelorette party again.

Its a guaranteed good time. Always has awesome DJs. Everyone dances. Prices are fair. Security needs to be more active inside. Could use faster or more bartenders on busy nights. I always have a good time.

I’m Respectfully informing that the Dj that works at Silver Dollar is disrespectful. I understand that Djs have their own music and beats set up already but there’s always an opportunity to play two or four songs that are from a different genre. I offered him 20 dollars to play four songs(Latin songs) to be precise! He denied and said he would only play 2 songs. I was shook and then I asked him if he did not like my people. I asked him 3 times and then he rolled his eyes and said fine I’ll play four songs. The remix was horrible. You could only hear the traditional American music): we need to do better!

Teauila Mo is the best bartender ever. She’s so quick and efficient, and brings such great energy to the crowd. She always makes sure to look after everyone, and get them exactly what they need. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking to have a great time, with great music.

Way. Too. Loud. Could not even hear anything, could not speak with my friends right next to me without screaming. Gross dudes who would not stop harassing us (not the establishments fault but did contribute to the unpleasant atmosphere). Dj played ridiculous campy edm which was just annoying and unpleasant. Not my style at all.

Well, this was my very first experience with age discrimination! We were on a girls trip, and just checking out all the local bars. When we got to the door we were denied entrance because we were too old. They tried to say it was a private party has they were allowing anyone under age in. Little did they know ... we are the party!

You’re more likely to get stabbed here than get a drink. The bouncers and manager called the cops on me just to be told they were wrong. Avoid this establishment at all costs. By the way since they don’t state it, no shorts allowed. $40 in Ubers wasted

This was my first time here and everything was good until I got my final bill and I realized they charged me 4 extra drinks ($32)…. After talking to the manager she was so rude and told me to “f*** off basically”. Never coming back here again!!! :

Floor is covered with an unknown liquid. Bathrooms are atrocious. Crowd is 18-24, generally. Service is poor, armed security patrols the club with a gun on his hip, should tell ya everything you need to know.If this club renamed itself to Chlamydia it would be more appropriate.

Im from out of town and my cousin took me to this bar one night and my experience was pretty good at first but then I came to visit again and requested we go to the same spot thinking I would have the same experience or better and I cannot say the same this come round.. the bartender ignored me when I tried to make an order and the she sent security over to escort us out without any reason. Other people around us had the same problem. My issue is that I happen to be African American and this looked like a race issue to me.i will be reporting this to the bbb!

I haven’t experienced anything personally but ive seen the way these people treat African Americans. If they feel they can get it out of you they will charge certain people a cover. Drinks are overpriced to pay for recent renovations I assume. I wouldn’t waste my money on a establishment like this

We went after 10pm and the place was absolutely jumping! Great music with surprisingly interesting light show. Everyone there was having a great time and the line to get in want as terrible as some other places.

The bartender was unbelievably rude. I am stationed in Mississippi but when I do come home to Charleston, this is the place I’d go. After last night, me and my friends decided not to come back at all. I will deff be talking to other Navy members about this experience.All because no tip was given on the first swipe, when in all honestly I tip well, and usually with CASH! The bar was basically empty at 12:45 on a Friday night, so we decided to just hang out a while. My friend orders and pays for our shots.. I guess she didn’t tip him on her credit card receipt. So he comes back from the register & says to me, “In f&b we work for tips.” I said okay? He was like she didn’t tip me. Again, I said, “Okay? We plan on staying a while..” My friend didn’t even know what her said she as she is looking in her wallet for the cash to tip him, I told her NO do not tip him. Knocked the shots over and left. I haven’t always been in the Navy, I’ve worked Food and Beverage before and I would NEVER speak to a customer that way. It’s funny because we all tip very well, usually with cash & not on our cards. We bliterally go to the ATM JUST for tip money. He was rude and he needs to find another job if he is that miserable.

Solid bar, transitioning to an older crowd, generally good live music and (what I would consider reasonable) covers. Bar tenders are quick so it doesnt take long to get a drink even when its busy.

No frills, no fuss. Basic bar options. Dont be a jerk; keep the orders simple. Youre here to dance, watch the game, get drunk--not necessarily in that order. I dont expect to return soon but Id be game for it.

I will never visit this place again!! The bartenders were slow and the bouncers were extremely rude and aggressive to me and my visitors!! He almost knocked me down trying to throw someone out and then got an attitude with me when I shoved back!!! Save your money and time!! There are plenty of free entry, more mature clubs along King Street!

UPDATED: THIS PLACE WILL MISS CHRISOne of the best places to go, each night has its own different vibe, but a great time nonetheless. The staff does a great job and they offer a variety of Djs to create a special themed night.

Decent place. Little crowded and hard to navigate during peak hours. Last DJ was just too loud and we left because our ears hurt. I feel old. :(

This is it. The end of the line. Youve been out and about town, been to the places to see and be seen. Youve got a few in you already and youre wondering where you should go to shut it down and end the night. Look no further. Do you need a man playing saxophone on top of the DJs music in a way that makes you curious but also enthused? Need bartenders that have never even heard of a paloma but know how to serve you a ice cold beer with the word lite on the end of it? A dance floor that you are sure hasnt been mopped in days so your feet will slide in perfect time to that sax/DJ combo youre still wondering about? This is the place!Everyone here is full of reverie and inspiring dance moves. This is like the Planet Fitness of Charleston dance bars - no judgement, bad spelling, but youll get what you came for. Watch out for Bruce though. Hes in the corner and he knows what youre up to.

Worst place i’ve ever been. bouncers were the rudest people i have ever met and took my REAL ID and told me if didnt Venmo him $20 he was giving my ID to his nephews girlfriend HAHAHAH literally awful. so if you’re trying to have a good time i wouldn’t go here lmao.

Pretty cool place. It was the only place playing a decent variety of music. Had a pretty good time. The bartenders are pretty hot too.

Great memories at this place. Great music and crowd is amazing. The lights and the effects with the bursts of mist etc and the their timings were perfect.

Walked in ordered drinks. Bartender scooped the ice from the bucket with red bulls and liquor bottles, beyond disgusting. Saw my gin and tonic spill a little into the ice below. The drink gun is right about the ice. It smelled like piss. My friend a local insisted it was dirty water. I personally wouldnt ever step a foot in this bar again. Youve been warned!!!!

Great place to go with friends for a night out, fast service with big dance floor for room to dance. Never been disappointed with the entertainment on stage its always a good time.

Silver dollar is the best bar downtown hands down from the music to the overall experience even down to the bartenders every time I go in I always ask for tequila mo she’s very attentive and makes me want to invite my friends and come back every single time come to silver dollar yall

Prepare for water if you order Tito’s and water from the males. Go female bartenders, they are awesome.

I really was looking forward to this bar and it said it has a pool table and when we got there they did not have any pool tables disappointed.

Just want to let everyone know this is the most racist bar in charleston. It’s so absurd that it’s 2018 and we still have to deal with this but unfortunately it is the truth, they’ve lost all of my business and I will further refer everyone to not ever go here because of the racism

I guess if you look like money or the guy at the door wants to take your money hell charge you extra to get in. Its $5 to get in but Ive been charged $10 on several occassions.

Nice shop, crowd between 21 and 25! Extremely well attended, especially on weekends, long queue in front of the club, entrance fee $5, cheaper drinks (gin and tonic $6)!
