I have been going to hair stylist, Misty Wells, for 15+ years. She is amazing and never disappoints! Some appointments I have an idea of what I want/have a picture and she can duplicate it. Sometimes I don’t know what I want and she guides me to what would look best for my length, color or even the season. We talk and laugh like sisters and truly enjoy catching up with each other every few months. She is a true Dayton gem!!

Square One is my go-to Aveda store. Grace is a hair genius when it comes to understanding bobs, thick hair, and naturally curly/wavy hair. Her highlight game is on point, and she is a truly nice person. The more details you provide, the better, but even without articulating myself exactly, she asked questions to figure out the perfect end result.

Square One was able to make bridal hair and makeup appointments for me and my 4 bridesmaids in a very short timeframe. I was running late the day of and they were able to shuffle things around to ensure everything still went on time. I can’t get over how accommodating they were.The actual hair and makeup was PHENOMENAL. We felt like goddesses. All of our hair and makeup lasted all through the wedding and we got so many compliments. I 10000% recommend them!

Had an absolute lovely gel manicure and pedicure with Jamie. My nails look absolutely amazing and I very much enjoyed my relaxation and time connect with Jamie. My husband and son see Grace to have their haircut here and all of us have a wonderful experience. Weve been going to Square One in Columbus for over 20 years and recently moved to the Dayton Area. So relieved to have found a new home and placement at 3rd St Square One!

First of all, I’m always treated wonderfully in this salon. I adore Lacey, She’s the queen of pixie cuts & stellar personality! 😏I’ve been going to her for a few years now & she is as consistent as the first day- Real, Personable, Professional, thorough throughout the whole process & always delivers perfection!Recently I shared with her the challenges Ive gone through with getting my autistic son a haircut & she was willing to take the challenge & sure enough 🥹she delivered!!! 😌She was patient with his quirks & took her time from start to finish, making sure he was comfortable in every move. Mind you, 😅there was a lot of hair to work with on top of accommodating all his movements & triggers to get the job done!!! I couldn’t be any more pleased & forever grateful for humans like her. Only a loved one with a special needs kid knows how incredibly 😪difficult it can be to find someone that is willing & caring enough. 😊My boy was extremely happy with his haircut & surprisingly comfortable in Lacey’s hands & that speaks volumes to my mama heart.He said, “I feel better mami, I feel like myself again.”With that being said, 🥰I couldn’t have asked for more… #ThankYou

The atmosphere, the experience, and my stylist - Mia were Top Tier. She took the best care of me from beginning to end. She transformed my damaged hair and this is only the beginning. From the tea upon entry, scalp and shoulder massage with aromatic oils, and complimentary mini facial with deep conditioning - I can’t recommend them enough.

Took my daughter, 12, here this morning for a cut and style with China. She was wonderful, the atmosphere was so fun and inviting. We felt welcomed the moment we walked through the door. China did an amazing job putting my daughter at ease, this was her first big salon cut, and listening to what she wanted out of her cut and style. We look forward to coming back in the future.

Ive been going to Square One since I moved to Dayton in 2019, and Ive never had a bad experience. I only get my hair done about once or twice per year, but its always such a treat when I walk into Square One. Their customer service is second to none, and Ive never been unhappy with a cut from one of their stylists. I see Tori now, and she knows how to make my hair vision come to life. I love asking her for her ideas and advice, and she never lets me down. Tori and all of the staff Ive interacted with are so personable and kind. Last week, I had my hair colored for the first time in years. Even though Square Ones prices are admittedly a bit steep, I do think the service youre paying for is worth it, especially if haircuts are a way you like to treat yourself!

I cannot recommend Grace at Square One Salon and Spa highly enough - she is fantastic in every way! I booked an appointment with Grace because Id read several positive online reviews that mentioned not only how well her clients liked the results of their hair appointments but how kind she is, and I had exactly the same experience! Getting your hair done can be a little intimidating, especially if youre going for a big change. Grace was such a wonderful person to work with - she listened to my ideas, helped me think through aspects I was indecisive about, and gave me a fresh cut and balayage that I am SO stoked on! There was no pressure to buy products, no air of judgement or stuffiness: nothing but kindness, enthusiasm, and serious talent. I hope Grace will be with Square One for a long time, as I would 100% come back as long as shes there (and follow her if she goes ). Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience, Grace!

Eva gave me a perm and it is the absolute best perm I have ever had in my 60 years of life.... Thank you Eva! as a matter of fact I only tipped her $40 and going back this week to give her more, my husband and I agree, l didnt do right by her..... Great place great people, fantastic experience....

I visited this salon for the first time today looking for a haircut, and it was wonderful! It was so pretty and welcoming, with all the plants and art. They offer you a drink and a complimentary facial with your haircut, which was so nice and relaxing. My stylist, Eva, was considerate, helpful and a pleasure to interact with. I really appreciated her helping me decide which direction to go with my hair, and then getting us there so easily! I really havent had a ton of positive experiences with haircuts in the past and I just loved my experience today. The style also stayed in all day while running errands. This was such a treat, thank you!

Square One Salon took INCREDIBLE care of my large bridal party. I had 8 bridesmaids, the MOB, MOG, as well as myself. They took care of us like we were family and long term clients. I no longer live in the Dayton area but was recommended Sqaure One from a co-worker and I’m so glad we did! Each hair stylist and MUA was so kind and welcoming. Kaela made coordinating such a large group seem like a breeze and was very responsive to all our questions. When I first booked with Square One I was initially nervous about having such a large party ready on time. Kaela calmed my nerves and I trusted the team had it in hand! On the actual day, the girls were ready & looking fabulous AHEAD OF SCHEDULE! I received makeup services by Rachel and she made me feel beautiful on such a special day. The space itself is clean and gorgeous, definitely set the tone for a magical day!

I had a lovely experience at the Dayton E 3rd street location. Tori did a fantastic job correcting my color to a perfect shade of blonde that suited me well. I found the atmosphere very spacious and relaxing.

First time at this salon and it was a great experience. Taylor listened to my requests and needs and I got an excellent cut. She also offered extras like bundling my hair for donation and explaining other services available (like massage) that I wouldnt have thought to ask for myself.

I am so glad I chose square one as my salon for my wedding hair and makeup. Emily B did a great job on my hair and it held up all night! Mary Kate was an amazing MUA!! My makeup didn’t budge and it looked beautiful. Both of them were a joy to work with.

Shout outs to the store manager Josh! Took very good care of me and the salon was beautifully decorated. My cut was great and I’ll be back with my stylist soon! Great experience!

You will not regret getting a massage with Morgan! He is experienced and educated- he knows what he is doing. I see him regularly and he always remembers where my trouble spots are and is adept at finding new ones to treat. Every massage is different as he does what is needed and not a usual routine that is given for everybody. I always feel like a new person/body when I leave! Besides that, he is a genuine, caring person and makes his clients feel comfortable. I will not go anywhere else!

Debbie literally changed my life, for the first time in a long while I feel confident and beautiful in my natural hair without a wig. The professionalism and care she gave me was top notch. Everyone in there is friendly, welcoming, and were SO GOOD with my service dog which I appreciate greatly. Y’all have a client for life!

I came in to have an issue with a previous manicure repaired. Ti’Asia did a great job and the salon covered the cost of the repair. I appreciate the kindness and understanding and will definitely continue to come to Square One Dayton for nail care. Thank you all!!

I had an appointment with Evelyn today and she did amazing job and made me feel super relaxed. It was great to see her again and catch up with her. I will differently go back.

As always, everything was great. Cassidy is just the best. She is professional & friendly, listens to what I have in mind, and offers very good suggestions. The salon is clean and enjoyable. It’s always a pleasure!

Square One Salon never disappoints! I come here for a wide range of services and always have an amazing experience no matter who I am with or what I am having done. The inside is very relaxing and welcoming and all the staff are experienced in what they do. I will never go to another salon!

I’ve been here twice and saw Misty both times. She is so sweet and down to earth, and she listens to exactly what I want. Both times I’ve come away so happy. I was so nervous about my balayage during my last visit, since I’ve never colored my hair before, but she explained what she was doing through the whole process, and it came out exactly like the picture I showed her. I have never loved my hair more! It’s a bit more expensive than some salons around Dayton, but I have to say, You definitely get what you pay for with her:)

Everyone here is so nice and helpful! I love the water and tea. Its so cozy i almost always fall asleeep lol.... but as for me, Dealing with chronic illness, being in and out of the hospital, on and off medications, destroyed my hair. But Mia helped me get a plan going and now its growing and flourishing!! Couldnt be happier!

I wanna give a better review but I didnt get what I wanted :// I thought I made my vision very clear with my reference photos, I also said many times I wanted it choppy and edgy. At first I did like it, but after I actually washed it I realized I didnt get what I asked for. She cut my hair with a razor and I really liked how it came out but then it was polished off with scissors and I didnt like it. I also lost more length than I expected. I hate to sound so mean because I did really like my stylist even gave her a tip, but I feel worse about my hair now :(

Misty did an absolutely amazing job making my balayage look natural and flawless! She is truly a master of her craft!

Came in with shoulder length hair, asking for 1 or 2 inches off. I specified no more than an inch different between layers. She cut it way to short, layers in weird places going all the way up to my roots (seriously got only an inch of hair on the top for some reason!) She also used a buzzer and went at me with it which is no good for curly hair, but I couldnt stop her in time.Also there is a weird short bit in the back/bottom, as though she was starting to give me an undercut or something.Needless to say she didnt show me the back of my head and rushed me out before I realized how bad it was. I am hopeful of a refund but that wont exactly grow the hair back, and with weird feathering messing up my curls and cut so weirdly short up top, its gonna take over a year before it even grows out enough to start to salvage.Also it hurt and caused damage--she yanked so hard during the blow dry and with such high heat that it looks like a lot of my hair snapped off, though that might just be from the weird cutting she did.

Received an amazing cut and style from Mia! Not only was the service excellent, but her personality eased my social anxiety and made me feel so comfortable. Will definitely be back.

From opening the door to step inside, to departure, a great experience. I highly recommend this Salon, Grace as a Stylist, and to browse the Historical Books in the Tall White Glass Cabinet in the waiting area. A treasure of Dayton History is inside - so cool!

I’m going to have to get my hair color done someplace. Grey hair was even worse than before color was done. Not happy at all and paid 200+ for it. Bad cut too. I may have to wear a wig till it grows out. I look like Buster Brown with ugly grey hair. Dreadful. I’m never coming back again. Customer for 15+ years but no more! I’m done.

Always a fantastic experience at Square One. Relaxing environment. My stylist Canaan listens to my questions and has helped me with a plan for my look which she accomplishes with her knowledge and skill.

I have been coming to see Grace for over a year. She always does an amazing job. As a retired stylist, 25 plus years, I recognize talent. I have enjoyed watching her grow in the profession. Sadly, I will not be returning. I feel it is extraordinarily bad business to require a credit card on file. I have not missed an appointment or been late. I could understand if a person is habitually late or no shows. I feel sorry for your staff. They all deserve better. Change your policy.

Alex is my goto for an outstanding cut and style. Brooklyn and Jaime have both done mens grooming for my ears, nose and eyebrows. The experience is always personal and gracious by these professionals and the venue has no equal in Ohio. Bravo, Square One!

Beyond love my hair stylist she does me and my daughter Samantha. Beyond friendly and she knows clearly how to do her job. I go every 5 weeks to get a highlight due to summer and plus silver hair, and get my eye brows wax and tinted and now get my feet done. Never knew you had that service until she told me, and guess what I left today beyond happy and when I go back in 5 weeks I get my hair, feet, brows done. Very convient, to have it all done at one spot! Will share square one to everyone

The experience at Square One is always top notch. Everyone is so kind and attentive. Jake my stylist is very knowledgeable when it comes to men’s hair. I have a great time when I come and the mini facials are a plus as well. Thank you for everything!

I booked the Spring Skin Event. I asked and was told it would be approximately 45 minutes. Square One advertised their Signature 30-minute facial paired with a complimentary Perfect Plant Peel for $75. I was leaving Square One within 20-25 minutes after Brooklyn began my facial plus there was an additional $5.63 charge for a Service Fee Tax. I dislike hidden charges plus I didnt receive what was Square One advertised.

One of the pedicures ever by Summer! She made sure to double check all the rough spots on my feet to make sure they were smooth. Since this was my first pedicure in a while she worked extra hard to make my feet feel and look really nice!

Yesterday I had an amazing experience with Dennis, massage therapist. Dennis understands the body and how things work and gets rid of the knots in your shoulder and back. Ill be back!

Beth is amazing! She gave me realistic expectations for fixing my hair and went above and beyond. Thank you Beth! And Josh the manager, was Fantastic. He was so sweet and kind and understanding when I told him I wasnt happy with my original service. He also went above and beyond to get me back into a chair and satisfied. This is why I am a Square One 3rd Street client forever! Thank you Josh!!

Paid $80 to have a master stylist do a basic trim which turned into them calling my hair damaged (literally just grew it out from a shaved head and have not been dying it or using heat on it), get upset with how fine my hair was, and then have them add layers and sweeping bangs when I asked for a blunt trim. It’s an adorable location but I keep walking out of this space put down and made to feel bad about asking to be lifted up by my stylist

Absolutely love this place! Everyone was awesome and Brooke took amazing care of me. My hair has never ever looked this good and healthy. I can’t wait for my next visit next week!

Debbie was wonderful, listened to me, and cut my hair exactly as I wanted. She made me feel so comfortable.

Scheduled five services over the course of two days. Kyla was impeccable at helping me to schedule. Staff is friendly. Love that the wax is non irritating. Will definitely be back, might just be my new home salon.

I love Square One. However my *60 min* massage was only about 45 minutes. For the price ($110) I expected more. That said, this was a one off, and I’ve never had a bad experience. Everyone is so nice and welcoming!

Alex is amazing!! He handles my thick and use to be long hair like a champ - did I mention it is curly too - he handles it all!! Love his work and I love the Square One atmosphere and staff - they are all 100 in my book!!

Leslie was my stylist and I couldnt have been happier. She made every effort to cut & style my hair the way i wanted it. Actually, everyday, Im loving it better, have gotten many compliments and I think it took a couple of years off my face! Definitely will return. 💕

As a bald man, one might wonder why I would go to Square One and of what services I avail myself. While hair does not grow on the top of my head, it pops up in other places, particularly my ears. I get a regular mens grooming which includes trimming and waxing my eyebrows and waxing my ears. I also treat myself to a facial at least once a year. Jami does an amazing job!

Convenient appointment scheduling. Friendly staff. Great specials. Skilled hair stylist. Cassidy is very talented with color. Aveda products are good quality and a little shampoo goes a long way. My hair is healthy and beautiful thanks to this company.

I have a lot of hair loss since a surgery. I needed to do something but I didn’t want to go too short. I had Cassidy for my appointment and she did exactly what I needed. Kept the length but gave it new life by losing the thin ends. I’ll be back for sure.

Went in for color touch up and was left in the chair for an hour after stylist applied dye. They squeezed in another client who was late. Color was way too dark for my otherwise light hair making it look like I have a weird dark ring framing my face. I have been to a lot of Aveda salons and have never had an issue…very disappointing.

Jake was amazing so sweet and my daughter told him how she wanted her hair and he did it perfect!!! She was so happy

Lash lift: Not the place for Asians. Lash tech (Jaime) gave me the mirror after 1 hour, and there was 0 difference before & after. I was devastated and tried to explain maybe for Asian eyes something else is needed? She said she wrote it down on my profile and if I chose to come back, to ask for it.

It was my first time there. I do like my hair. Thank you Debbie for making me pretty again. Look like it going to be my home now on.

Once your checked in you are seated in a cozy waiting area before you are taken to your appointment. The rooms are beautiful and designed for maximum comfort. Morgan is a miracle worker! Hands down some of the best massages Ive ever had. I literally feel ten times lighter by the time Im done and walking our the building. Square One is one of my favorite places to be!

I recently was a bride and brought my bridal crew in for the big day hair and makeup. Working with Kaela was very easy and she kept me updated when there were changes to the staff who would be helping that day. They were great with my schedule when it came to hair and makeup trial and the staff were great on day of keeping with schedule and executing our own styles. My hair specifically has caused so much stress with past up-do appointments as it is thick, heavy and very straight but Emily was unphased by the mass of hair and was able to give the best style that lasted the whole day (no matter how many times people hugged me and pulled down my veil/hair). Mary Kate did my makeup for the day and it LASTED, I am a crier too! Everyone was so complimentary of the hair and makeup for the day, I could not have been more pleased!!!

We love square one. My kids love getting their haircut here and until recently it was very comparable to what I would pay in any salon. They did have a recent price increase that I was not aware of at the time of booking but we also booked with an advanced stylist which left me with a $50 cut (pre tip), he is 10, they no longer have a kids cut and he falls into the mens cut category. I was a little sticker shocked at the register. Overall, square one is professional, accommodating, provides a mini facial at the shampoo bowl, tea/coffee/water upon entry and the atmosphere is elevated. We love all of the stylists.

I had a Mani with Tim and it was absolutely wonderful. Completely satisfied and will come again. Great atmosphere.

Just had a fabulous neck, shoulders, and back massage from Morgan. I was comfortable at all times. Focused exactly where I requested in a calming setting. This is a great salon. Beautiful architecture and the interior design is lovely. Wonderful waiting areas.... For both prior to your appointment and when you are processing ( for those of us that alter our hair color)...and Jake is amazing. If you have never been here- ask for Jake. Jake.jake Jake. I walked out looking great and his head massage was wonderful. When you have dark hair that requires a touch up - you can walk out with a weird forehead Halo - Jake attacked it and I never even noticed it. He had a great touch throughout the whole process.. Unlike anything I have ever experienced. This all sounds like I know Jake and have been going there for years - but I had never met him and I live in the Seattle area.. will likely never seen him again. Go to Jake.

My stylist, Taylor, is the absolute best. Ive been coming here for haircuts for about a year and have never been disappointed. The whole staff is courteous and professional. The space itself is clean, well kept, and pleasantly arranged. Worth every penny.

I will admit I am very picky and I have never left Caras chair feeling anything but overly satisfied. I originally went from platinum blonde hair to my natural mousey brown. I was in fear of my hair turning into a muddy mess. As a former stylist myself, I know the difficulty of filling blonde hair and making it look a pretty color. Cara blew me out of the water and exceeded my expectations. My hair turned out beautifully. Recently, after being my natural for 6 months + I decided to go back blonde (As Brent anticipated;) ) and Cara once again did an amazing job! I am a cool, natural blonde. I get compliments every day!

The staff is amazing and very kind to not only the guests but each other. I went in for just a trim and ended up getting layers and a free facial!! The facial made me feel refreshed and clean. My hair stylist was china she is a sweet heart and very easy to talk to. If you ever want to go somewhere this is where I recommend the friendliest people I have ever met!!

I come here for every haircut I get every-time I get exactly what I want but make sure to schedule in advance I felt the stylist (Brooke) who serviced me today was untrained she burned me more than a few times with the hair dryer and spent almost an hour on what looks like a buzz cut(literally all of my hairs are now the same length) at times she would pull out different combs and scissors to do the same thing. The entire time there wasn’t any talking or anything which is sometimes okay but for how long the haircut was it wasreally awkward I am really disappointed. Luckily I built up enough store credit so I could pay for the haircut and a tip but fr felt really uncomfortable the whole time. I wish there was a way to leave an anonymous review but couldn’t figure it out.

Decided to go a little shorter this time around and my hairstylist Grace faded my hair perfectly!!! Couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!

This was my first experience at Square One but I wont be going anywhere else from now on. I went in for a big chop today (30 inches off) and could not be happier with the results. I was in town for a month for work and was looking for a place that was new to me and had great services. The staff were so friendly. I had an appointment with Cheyenne for a brow wax, brow tint, and lash tint. She did a fantastic job and was more than happy to make adjustments (more waxing, trimming, and darker tinting) when I requested. I would very much recommend her and this salon for a one time appointment or long term needs!!

I got a 60 minute massage, he cut it about 15 minutes short. Thats after I waited 5 minutes past my appointment time. Usually it wouldnt be a big deal, but when youre paying $90 for 60 minutes, you want to get all your minutes. They should start the clock when they start the massage-- not at your scheduled time.Ive heard about this happening with others, too.

Everytime I go its such a wonderful experience . The place itself makes you feel fancy but yet comfortable and the staff is always so wonderful . My hair always look fabulous. Cant say enough good things about this salon.

I got my make-up done here for my wedding. It looked terrible! I had eyeshadow all over my face! I had to rush home to wash it off and do it myself before I was too late. Never again.

This place is wonderful. They are quick friendly and its a wonderful place to get your hair done. I love when I come there it always feels like home. When I went to go get my hair done it was a blow out and it didnt seem that long. It was a pretty quick in and out situation.

I have tried new stylists outside of here because I get this annoyingly disappointing idea that I want to try someone new, and each time I try..... I end up going back to Square One for help to fix my hair.This location has never disappointed. I will be going back to Kara to get some color. Everyone I encountered during my appointment today was friendly and professional and I would definitely recommend giving them a try.

I have gone to China 3 times now and could not be more thrilled. China has made time to have a free consultation with me before my appointments, she listens to me and makes sure she understands exactly what I’m asking for every time. I recently went ginger/red with a blended wolf cut and she did such a phenomenal job. I feel so confident and taken care of, I have recommended her and the salon to all of my friends. It’s definitely a more luxury experience and I think the prices are completely fair for the quality of hair that I receive. As someone with wavy/curly hair I usually dread going to the salon for a cut, but Darrick was amazing! He was gentle, took his time, and my hair looks great. I usually have to re-style my hair after a cut but not this time :)

I used Square One for my wedding. It was a disaster! I had my eyebrows straightened and tinted. The person didnt listen to me and ripped off half of my brows to super thin. The day of the wedding each of my bridesmaids received airbrushed makeup. They either had too much or too little. Each girl had to do their makeup over which made my photos an hour behind. I didnt call and complain because Im nice. My mom missed her hair appt the day off due to her health issues and I overslept due to a migraine the day of my wedding and missed my blow out but contacted the stylist and apologized. The salon then allowed my bridal party to use my deposit to pay instead of the gift cards I purchased as a gift. I had a $250 deposit which now is $73 due to my bridesmaids using it AND they charged me for mine and my Moms missed appt. And the $73 is to be used for my next services? I will NEVER go back there again. So very disappointed. So much for a high end Salon.

Okay, everyone is sleeping on Zoe. I don’t know if it’s because she’s young, but she is FANTASTIC at haircuts. I don’t dye my hair or anything, but the last time I came for a haircut I was kind of unsatisfied. So I was very nervous to come back. But Zoe literally gave me one of the best haircuts of my life. She listened to exactly what I wanted, and she spent so much time being super detailed on my hair. It was exactly what I wanted. She checked in with my periodically and was even willing to cut more when I wanted more. She made wonderful recommendations for what would look good with my hair too. Seriously. So happy that today, for the first time since COVID19 started, I was able to come to the Shop! Canaan Good is my Stylist! Everything was spotless, and great care was given by everyone to be safe in our present life as we know it. From the moment I walked in after waiting in my car, there was someone at the door making sure that I should come in, and was not carrying the virus into the shop. I loved that. It was the first time I have had such human contact since all of the rules about distancing began.Everything was arranged so there was perfect social distancing, and everyone was taking very special care to make sure everything was germ free. New capes, totally clean everything!Loved being able to have my hair colored, highlighted, and shampooed once again. No exaggeration, the best hair cut Ive ever gotten. If you have curly/wavy hair, see Cassandra ASAP! Im pretty easy going when it comes to hair cuts, but she actually styled my hair to accentuate my curls. She taught me new tricks and tips about how to style my hair, plus she was super nice and easy to talk to. The salon is super clean and has a great vibe. Ill for sure be coming back!

I have been going to Leslie for years! She is such a wonderful listener and has always been incredibly consistent and professional no matter the request. I have never felt judgement whatsoever when I show up every four to six months of irreparable damage. She has no complaints and is so easy to work with! I went to the Dayton 3rd street location a few months ago for a massage. This was the first time I have been to a Square One and I was impressed! The interior is beautiful, stylish and theres plenty of interesting reading material while you are waiting. The receptionists were a tiny bit stand-offish and because of this I had trouble figuring where I was supposed to check in and pay after my service. The manager made up for this by taking my coat, making pleasant conversation and offering to fix me some complimentary tea or coffee (completely perfect considering it was snowing outside)! However, the real star of the show was the massage specialist, Dorian. He came recommended to me by a friend and he was great! Instead of pushing products to me, he simply recommended them to me by honestly pointing out their pros and cons. He also answered my questions about the products and massage in general in a very professional way. I walked out of the salon completely relaxed and refreshed... Im definitely looking forward to visiting again for a massage and some nail service!

I just returned to Square One (Third St) today after a long hiatus. While I miss the mini facial that used to come with hair services, I appreciate all the care they are taking with Covid precautions. This was my first time seeing Natalie as my stylist, and she knocked it out of the park. My cut and color is perfect, and the treatment she recommended has made my hair feel and look so healthy. Highly recommend Natalie if anyone is looking for great highlights and a careful hand.

Love my hair cuts. All of the stylist are top notch! I love being pampered with the free mini facial and complimentary coffee tea or water while I wait to be called back which only takes 5-10 minutes. Expensive but worth it 3 times a year that I tend to get my haircut.

Ive been going here consistently for almost 8 years and cant believe Ive never written a review. It was the positive google reviews that brought me to square one in the first place. Everyone here is just upstanding from the front staff to the hair stylists to the estheticians to the nail techs. Everyone is top notch. Ive been seeing Faun for about 6 years now, and she has transformed my hair. It has seriously never looked better. I recommend this place to everyone who asks where to get hair and nails done.

Jae is an absolute gem. She is the best hairstylist I’ve ever had. She’s so professional, courteous and very friendly. She completely understands my vision but she also ensures the health of my hair. I’ve never loved my hair as much with any other stylist! I highly recommend Jae!

Probably wont return because they charge a cancellation fee if you cancel within 24 hours. I understand but also prefer a salon with better customer service than that.

This was my second appointment. I’m new to the date in the area and, when I booked my first appointment at the salon, the tier pricing was explained to me in great detail so that I could make an informed decision about what I could afford. I was scheduled with Kara and when I came for that first appointment, I was absolutely wowed from the moment I walked in. Today I had my 2nd appointment with a different stylist. I am a teacher and have been engrossed with getting my classroom in order for the new school year and have just come off of a two week intensive training. When I called yesterday to book the second appointment, I had forgotten all about the tier pricing. The scheduler didn’t say a word to me about it, just asked me if I could come today at 5 o’clock. So I came to the salon today, the stylist and I had an amazing interaction, and then when I went to pay I was told it would be $160. I almost passed out as my jaw dropped to the floor. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for in this life but I have never paid $160 for a haircut in my entire life. I feel disappointed and I feel even more deceived. The expectation should have been set when I called yesterday to make that appointment but I was not paid the respect of being able to make a well-informed decision. The lack of full disclosure has now placed me in a difficult financial situation. That is so unfair. I stood there at the counter and handed over my card and paid for the service with grace. At the same time, I could barely breathe. This was handled poorly and is wrong on so many levels. This only benefited the salon, not me. I won’t be coming back and I will take this up with the Better Business Bureau and wherever else I can review the salon to ensure that other people aren’t shanked like I was today. Awesome service. The staff was friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in the store. The establishment is set up nicely and smells divine. My masseuse was absolutely perfect. She was courteous and respectful and her hands are magic. I left so relaxed and peaceful.

Nice hairstylist. Horrible job. My hair was literally orange when I wanted golden brown. The only time in my life Ive ever had to go back to a hair stylist to fix it . Still charged me to fix it and still looked orange. Finally getting it redone at a different hair salon after giving my hair a break and she even commented at how my hair was orange. Would not recommend at all.

So I have been here before but it has been awhile. I called to make an appointment and they said that because it had been so long they needed to see my hair before they could schedule me. They wanted to FaceTime but I have a Android so we agreed on a Zoom. We were scheduled to have a Zoom call at 3:30 the following day. I waited until 4 and called them to find out what happened. She said that there was miscommunication and we rescheduled for today at 2:15. No Zoom call, no text, no email, not even a phone call to follow up. This is very unprofessional so I will not be calling to reschedule a Zoom that probably wouldnt happen anyway. Very frustrating!!!

I am so happy with my choice to trust Eric with my eyebrows. I have been letting my brows grow in since 2015, and Eric was just as excited as I was (maybe more!) to shape them for me. He was kind, professional, and worked efficiently with a gentle hand. He took a few extra minutes to show me how to add a bit of color and shape them on my own, and he sent me away with a little brush to use at home. It was well worth the cost, and I will pass this recommendation on to all of my girlfriends! Thanks Eric!

The first time I had my nails done here there were many problems with them, breakage and lifting + I came in wanting nail art and I found that the stylist at the time couldnt do that. However after writing my original review, the salon contacted me, apologized and offered me 2 free services in place of the messed up nails. I scheduled a appointment with Tim Farquhar and WOW!! I mean seriously, Ive gotten my nails done for years and Ive never had them done so well. He described everything he was doing in detail and why he was doing it so that I knew exactly what was going on my nails. He also did nail art for me which turned out absolutely beautiful. If you come here for nails, schedule with Tim! Hes also the most pleasant person Ive met 💕💕 Oh and o didnt even mention that I had my second nail appointment for free because the salon was really looking out for my interest instead of their own, which is nice to see in any business. Ill try to post some pictures to show yall the nails. They are blue with a little pink heart

Great Shop! I loved everything about this place, I was a bit worried that they wouldnt be able to handle my hair, but it turned out perfect, they even let me bring in my own products! I use a special kind of shampoo without sulfate in it but the conditioner and anti frizz that was used was amazing! Again, no complaints from me. The only thing I can say that is even the slightest bit negative is that their prices are a bit high, but hey you pay for quality!

I have been a client at Square One Downtown Dayton since I moved here over 12 years ago. From the atmosphere which is so comfortable, to the staff who always treats me as special as my first visit, to the quality of my services-- nothing but top notch. Aveda products are just the best. I regularly receive complements on my hair color - thank you Alan ;), and have referred anyone who asks.Not only is the salon experience amazing here, but the owners and staff are quality people. Square One continually gives back to the community in many, many ways. I am happy to patronize a company like this and locally owned to boot.

This was my first visit to Square One and I was very impressed. First, the Aveda Salon/Spa experience is wonderful. Its just a special experience. I love Aveda products. I started using them about three years ago and am very pleased with the products. Particularly the Invati products for thinning hair. It has made a great improvement in the health of my hair. The highlights are brilliant. I love the way it looks! The salon is stylish and comfortable. The staff are very kind. I heard them complimenting each other and the clients many times. They adhere to mask and social distancing policies, which is very important to me.

Please for your sake don’t get acrylic nails done here. The woman working on me made mine very thick and shorter than I wanted them to be. I asked her to thin them down and she only thinned underneath my nail which did nothing. While she was filing them she cut two of my fingers which were bleeding. I’ve never been cut when getting my nails done. Some of the nails are different lengths compared to the other hand. Whenever I use anything I can just feel this thick layer of dip in my way. They said they don’t have anyone else who could redo my nails so I did a store credit. Waste of money and an unpleasant experience.

I love the treatment and service I always receive at Square One, and my stylist always listens to what I would ultimately like my hair to look like. Ive never felt pressured to buy into anything and Ive always left satisfied. I also love that they are very involved with community projects and fundraisers.

Great place to go if youre a woman. My wifes hair always looks great.Amazing place to go for spa services too--the atmosphere is great here.However, I cant recommend if youre a man--find a male specific salon or stylist. Stylists here are very out of practice in fading, blending, and listening (if you request a zero guard fade, theyll give you a half or 1...this usually happens when stylists are uncomfortable doing mens hair and fading). Youll typically receive the same results that you would have from a chain barber/salon but for twice or triple the price. For $35-$47+tip, just seek out an independent mens stylist.

Stephanie Hurley did the best job on my hair Ive ever experienced. She took her time and was really nice. She was nice about my hair even though it was dry and tangled from past salon experiences. She restored my hair health and shine, and brightened my hair!

I went in to get my hair cut short. I was really scared since every time i have cut my hair super short it has come out horrible. I went in and I was surprised by how beautiful the salon was. My stylist was karen and she is the sweetest person ever. She did an amazing job. She got it perfectly my hair looks amazing and its the shortest its ever been. I am going back this week to get my hair colored and i am super happy to finally have found a great salon and an amazing hair dresser.

Im not sure how the person below me had a problem with Joseph, because he is truly the best hairstylist I have ever had. I have been to other salons and never felt more refreshed and relaxed after leaving Square One in downtown. I have been going there for over a year now and I highly recommend their business!

Very disappointed in my first experience at Square One. As a rare treat in a busy schedule, I booked a 90-minute massage but only received an hour. The confirmation I received only said massage that began at 5PM, so I did not know there was an error until the massage was over and I was getting dressed. When I made the appointment, the receptionist confirmed the length of time and the price but it was scheduled incorrectly. After the appointment, nothing was really said by the gentleman at the desk about the mixup. Carly was absolutely wonderful, but next week is her last week. Not sure if I will try again as I left very disappointed.

Im so happy I was able to get into square one salon and receive top of the line quality service. Im so excited to book them for my next event in two weeks. The service and employees are awesome and treat you like royalty. I love the entire team from ownership all the way to front desk you guys ROCK OUT ON A DAILY BASIS!
