The Wharf

Pretty good selection of standard cigars and some hard to find items. The guys working were super friendly and helpful. The only problem, and it was a big one, was a couple of the boxes in the case had cigars with mold all over them. I did buy a stick but probably would have bought a few more had I not seen that. Hopefully they get it fixed.

Hundreds of different cigars, something for everybody. Very helpful staff. And a couple of really cool parakeets and a parrot or two.So a lot of cigars, therefore they also have a lot of empty boxes. Have a need for an empty cigar box. This is the place to go to get it. Pocket knives, lighters, humidors, really nice ashtrays. they also have a very wide selection of pipe tobacco.If youre just getting into smoking cigars, theyll punch in the right direction.

Couldnt have had a better Saturday then visiting a real grassroots shop. Everyone was amazing, knowledgeable, patient and friendly. Absolutely will be back. Ty to Mitch!

I gave this place 2 shots,once by myself and another with a buddy. Its a decent shop, slightly crowded which is fine because they do have a great variety of cigars. My issues are more on quality/condition of some of the cigars I purchased. I dont feel like the humidor they are keeping cigars in, particularly keeps them fresh. I prefer a Liga provada no 9 and both times those cigars were purchased from there, they have been real hard and brittle, easy to crack. That really changes the flavor in my opinion as well as many others. I thinks its how they have them stored in that certain humidor on the floor with what appears to be sliding doors, i cant quite recall. I cant speak for any other cigars as I havent dabbled yet because of the disappointment in 1 of my favorite cigars. Im sure if I noticed I wouldnt have purchased them just off the feel so partly my fault, I just expect cigars to be maintained properly when im coming to a cigar shop to aquire them instead of online. Hope this review helps you folks out there. Just double check your cigar before leaving the shop! As to the staff, they were friendly and not 1 issue there!

Just had my first visit to this shop and they instantly became my favorite. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They showed me the Wharf Maduro because I told them I love to try house blends and it is amazing. I will definitely be back!

I’ve been here for over a year. Originally enjoyed it as each person I spoke with was always helpful as soon as I walked in. However, my last time here on 01/27 I had an incredibly rude worker. As soon as I walked in, he had an immediate attitude. I told him I was just browsing at the moment. He then said “well I need your ID to scan”. I said “okay. Is this new as I’ve been here quite a few times and have never had my ID scanned just to browse”. His response was “I’ve never seen you” in the most rudest way and snatched my ID out of my hand with aggression then ignored me the remainder of the duration of my time there. I originally enjoyed this place. But after that horrible interaction I can no longer support this business. The tall lanky guy needs his attitude knocked down a peg or two and take note on how to treat others

Top notch customer service and great selection. Not many shops in the dayton area like this one! They offer a military discount and have a lounge in the back with a minimum $10 purchase for non-members. The only gripe I have with the place is that its sometimes hard to breath in there - I think they need a higher air exchange rate to clear out the smoke.

Excellent cigar and pipe tobacco selection. Great atmosphere to sit and enjoy a cigar along with conversation if desired. The wharf does an excellent job at fostering community. Friendly staff, lots of cigars, tobacco for pipes and a okay selection of pipes. The reason for the lack of stars is because the place is gross. There is definitely a hoarding situation going on, some areas are absolutely covered in dust. Lots of junk piled up in random spots including a 6 pick of refried beans no organization other than the cigars. You can even see the piles of old hoarded garbage from the parking lot. Which is a shame because its a nice store in a nice area. Its chaotic in there.They also have 2 parots and a cage of maybe 5 or so parakeets between piles of hoarded trash. This place is full of smoke and dust so Im unsure why there are these poor birds.. Very upsetting. Parots are very social birds and back behind trash is no bueno. I hope this place cleans up, there isnt many pipe and cigar places anymore and this representation is lacking big time.My word of advice, if its not for sale, if it cant be displayed, get it out of there. Clean up old expired food, declutter big time. Have a daily cleaning list and take care of your things, your employees and your customers.If I go back and its clean and sanitary Ill change my review.

Mind blowing selection of pipes, tobacco and cigars. Extremely knowledgeable friendly and helpful staff. Nice smoking area and prices that I dont think you can beat in Ohio.

This location is great. You’re welcomed with friendly staff who try to help you as best as they could. They have amazing specials and if you’re a first responder in military, they welcome you here with open arms I would recommend this place to any first time smoker and any veteran smoker I hope these guys keep up the good work and thank you all.

I have been coming to The Wharf for about 10 years for all my cigar and pipe needs. The selection is always great, cigars are fresh and maintained well, never had a bad stick. Their selection of pipes will fit any budget and the amount of pipe tobacco they have rivals any smoke shop Ive stopped in. The employees here are really what make the place great and keep me coming back. They are incredibly helpful, quick, and willing to recommend new things to try if you ask.Ive tried other shops in the central Ohio area and Im always disappointed. The Wharf has never let me down and I look forward to stopping in again and again.

I love the smell when I open the door to walk in the store. I know nothing about cigars but the guys that work there are experts & the love to help customers. My son-in-law & grandsons love getting gifts I’d cigars from The Wharf. The best cigar shop in town!

This was my first time visiting the shop, and I was immediately made to feel welcome and comfortable in asking about their various pipe tobaccos and accessories. A great place where you may find good conversations as well as excellent tobaccos. Ill be returning soon!

Amazing customer service with a knowledgeable staff. There is always a friendly greeting and laid-back atmosphere where you can find an amazing selection of great cigars. I find the staff always willing to answer questions and find the cigars I like. I highly recommend The Wharf for all your smoking needs.

First time in. A black haired female helped me. She was so friendly and genuine. However, I did observe her being mistreated by who I assume was the owner. Ponytail. He had her open her bag to be searched. It was embarrassing for me as a customer and to her. She was not stealing, and it was quite unfair. I loved the cigars I bought..but not sure if I can tolerate people being treated so unfairly.

I frequent this place on a sort of regular basis, maybe once every 3-6 months, as I smoke a pipe, but am not a huge smoker. Every time I go in I am greeted quickly, and the employees there take care of me. This particular time was a lady who took my pipe tobacco order, and she was very attentive and took the time to make sure I was taken care of. The quality and selection of loose tobacco, pipes, cigars, and accessories is diverse, and I am convinced you would be hard pressed to find a better place for miles around. Thanks Wharf!

The selection is good and the sales staff are excellent. The store, however, is extremely dirty and cluttered. A lot of the empty cigar boxes they are trying to sell are either broken, or priced pretty high for a knickknack (up to $25 for some of them)They have a coffee and Pepsi machine, but you can’t really get to them without difficulty due to the boxes placed in the way.

First time here. Im new to the cigar world and Ive been to one other place which I love and this is definitely another love. They have a HUGE selection of cigars. Bought a few. They also give military discounts and a discount for us Freemasons which I LOVE. And that alone I will be a longtime customer. And the parrots were super cool and said hello when I walked in with the lady!!!

My first time in was this afternoon and I will definitely be back. Excellent selection of tobacco, pipes, and cigars as well as an excellent staff. Jeff, Ryan, and the gang were very friendly and made me feel right at home. I live in Dayton so, it was DEFINITELY worth the drive!

I just made my first trip to The Wharf, and I am quite impressed. One of the better shops Ive visited in my travels and Ill be sure to stop in again. They have an amazing selection including many sticks you wont often find. The staff is certainly knowledgeable, very friendly, and professional. Personal introductions and a walk around your first stop in. The lounge is great, with a lot of lockers and nice furniture. The seem to have a very nice selection of pipes as well but it isnt within my realm of expertise as of yet, The only name I rem The only potential complaint? If you are a stickler for a walk in humidor you might be a bit apprehensive, but Im here for the cigars and the folks. Both are great.

I arrived with an idea and a head full of questions. Talking to Lonnie and explaining I was new, he took time to treat my friend and I like we were the only people there. I only had two questions left after he walked us through everything: How much? & Can I use your lounge? . Great place, great environment, great products. Highly recommend!

One of my favorite places! Great atmosphere, staff is super helpful and knowledgeable, and one of the best cigar selections Ive ever seen. Love this place if I just have a few minutes to pick up a couple cigars or a whole afternoon to hang out in the lounge with a few good cigars and do some work or some reading. And there are always some nice guys around if youre in the mood for good conversation.

It’s tough these days to be impressed by customer service, but wow! What a place! Unbelievable experience! As soon as I walked in (with my limited knowledge of cigars) I was greeted and taken care of for over an hour. I had general ideas of what kinds of sticks I was going to purchase and I was walked through every single one in amazing detail. Did I mention they have nearly every possible cigars imaginable?! No rush what so ever, it was like I was the only customer in the shop. Suggestions were made along the way and I learned a ton. It was truly a fun and engaging experience. The employees (I forgot the name of the specific gentleman who helped me...sorry) are top notch, enjoy passing along their wealth of knowledge and you can tell, they really love their job. I walked away satisfied that I got the very best cigars for the best price...they could have easily taken advantage of my knowledge and sold me the most expensive ones.I had to wait for an Uber when I left, but they made sure they made sure I waited comfortably in the lounge and had everything I needed. I’m from out of state, but I hope to return in the future. I will also be calling in to place future orders if I can’t make it back in person!Well done fellas!

Great place for Tobacco products, they have a great selection of Cigars and Pipe Tobacco that you cant find at any other brick and mortar. Also, a huge selection of great pipe brands for selecting! I would highly recommend, but the place is quite cluttered with cigar boxes and cardboard boxes blocking display cases in certain areas, but still a fantastic place to purchase tobacco products.

This place is awesome! The moment I entered I was met by an incredibly professional and helpful staff that showed me around and explained everything they have to offer. I liked this place. Knowledgeable staff and great selection. All cigars are behind glass kind of like a jewelry store. You cant pick up the sticks yourself thats why I took off a star- doesnt seem like they trust you. Big lounge though and cool people.

In from out of town and stumbled upon this shop. Great Smoke Shop. Huge selections of cigars, tobacco, pipes and everything else. Excellent prices. Very helpful staff. Ryan took the time to give me a tour explained several different cigar choices and was not at all overwhelming. Highly recommend this shop. I will be back next time I am in town.

By far my favorite cigar shop I’ve ever been to. Great selection, knowledgeable staff, and every stick is of impeccable quality. Coupled with a great lounge area to smoke, The Wharf is a definite place to stop if you are in the area and looking for a great way to spend an hour or two.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff, huge selection, and competitive pricing make this a top spot for cigars and pipes for the Dayton area. I personally like to come in, grab a cup of coffee, light up a cigar, and sit at one of the tables and hang out for a while. Sometimes I work via my laptop (free Wifi). Other times I strike up a conversation with the staff or other patrons. Either way, its a nice, relaxing little spot.

This cigar shop was recommended by a great friend of mine and I was undoubtedly pleased with the recommendation. This has to be one the largest humidor selection of a privately owned shop I have seen. The only lounge that has a slight lead on the mentioned is the Las Vegas Cigar Outlet. As I digress, the customer service in impeccable and the recommendations of the staff were superb as well. I understand I was very peculiar looking to the local regulars (tall, black. bald, bearded, with a bowtie). I felt like Eddie Murphy in 48 Hours when he walked into that honky-tonk bar. The tension dissipated as we began to speak and dialogue about the city of Dayton. I will be back hopefully soon and I will definitely patronize this establishment.

If youre looking for cigars this is the place I have so many cigars they have so many cigars and so many different kinds your search for a good cigars is over I also keep track of your purchases of the cigars you like cuz cigars that you do not like any cigars you have tried to help them guide you in selections of cigars that are similar to your taste and price range. The guy there showed me the correct way to add butane to my old lighter and it worked like a champ. I had been doing it wrong and was even ready to throw the lighter away thinking it was bad. These guys are the best!!!

Ive been buying my accessories, cigars and pipe tobacco at The Wharf for going on 20 years now and always walk away smiling. You wont find a larger selection, more knowledgeable staff or better price anywhere within several hundred miles and if you havent shopped for cigars at The Wharf then you havent shopped!

All cigars are in cases, they grab them for you then hand them to you when you pay. Everything, cigars included smell like stale smoke. Its a cigar shop I get it, but no ventilation, so the smell lingers. Shops that Ive been to that allow smoking have a decided lounge, or out door area. Did not purchase anything. Just stopped in while passing through, will not be back

Best place to go. They have lots of knowledge and the best pipes and cigars around. I been going there over 8 years. Its great to try new ones out. Also you can go in there smoke and relax and watch some tv while you smoke.

I come to Dayton occasionally for work. The Wharf was a gem of a find. Great selection of cigars; knowledgeable and friendly staff; open til 9 and plenty of room to sit and smoke. A little run down but that is part of its charm.

I have gone to this place many times over the past 10 or so years and have always had the greatest possible service. Whether youre an expert or know nothing, each guy there will help you find what youre looking for no matter what and be able to answer any question you can come up with. Nice hole in the wall with a very professional staff, ties and all. Smoking lounge for good customers and a wall to wall cigars. Plus free chess boards and things to keep you occupied as you smoke indoors with the boys. Best smoke shop in the country.

I had been wanting to give pipe tobacco a try, and came in with very rudimentary knowledge. I expressed what I was looking for, and they were able to help me every step of the way. I really appreciate the knowledge and customer service that were afforded to me.

If you’re looking for cigars and need good service I’ll give my one star to that... but I was VERY upset with how they “take care” of the 2 African Grey birds that sadly live in a smokey messy environment. The female was so sweet but was a mess due to it’s living conditions. You can tell she’s been plucking her feathers out and her eyes were swollen probably due to the cloud of smoke in the air everyday. Seeing that there are bad reviews from a year or two ago stating people’s concerns about the birds (animal abuse) and nothing was done and the owner didn’t remove them from the environment really says a lot to me and we will not be back and will spread the word.

I have been going to this cigar shop with my friends for the past two years, and I would have to say the staff and experience was always sublime. However, the experience I had this past week was shockingly bad, and I question whether I will ever go back. The trip was with myself and two of my novice friends who knew very little about cigars. This trip was going to be a great way to show them the great world of cigars. However, right off the bat, the experience was very offputting. When we came in, we weren’t greeted right away as usual, and it took a while for anyone to even acknowledge us. I would also like to point out that we are all in college, who made a long trip from school just to go here. Anyway, the salesman we talked to was very cavalier. I have never seen him in the store before, but maybe that’s a good thing. When we asked some questions to see what cigar we should go with for today, he literally gave zero input. All he asked is what we usually smoked for a reference. The only cigars he even showed us were the ones that I talked about, he couldn’t even muster to offer something up that was new. He was also not very presentable, with a dirty shirt with a crooked tie. Finally, since we wanted a short session, we bought 3 small $4-5 cigars, and we had them cut and asked for matches. We then noticed that the lounge doors were closed, and we learned that the renovations that finished a week ago now require a $10 purchase limit. This was very enraging as we were given ZERO information about this ahead of time. Even when we had them cut the cigars in store, they still didn’t think to inform us about it. We could have easily bought more expensive cigars to get into a room that for the past 2 years has always been open to the public. All in all, the staff I experienced this week was monumentaly different than what is usually offered at the wharf. I really hope they get more informed staff members who can wear clean shirts and actually know something about cigar type, taste, and quality that I would expect from the wharf in the past. Another experience like this will guarantee me never going in again, which would be a shame, as the wharf was always a great place to go.

Knowledgeable staff, friendly service, great selection of cigars, estate pipes, and pipe tobacco blends. Lounge area is...meh. My only issue is cleanliness. Someone needs to pick up a broom and dust rag...the place is filthy and disorganized. Otherwise theyd get 5 stars.

My husband frequents this shop, they have a great selection and are willing to try and get the things that you want, they offer military discount which is a definite bonus! The staff is always very helpful and friendly, so I would definitely recommend this little shop, go check it out!

Ive been coming to The Wharf for almnost 40 years. Theyve always been very knowledgeable about the pipes and pipe tobacco and cigars that I purchase. The owner Ron and the employees are eager to help. The Wharf regularly has promotions going on, be it various cigar companies, or their pipe club. If you are up to a game of chess or dominos, this is a great place for it. Oh, l almost forgot, you can smoke in there too!!

A great selection of Cigars and the only place around the area you can smoke inside. The store is wore out, very cluttered and pretty dirty. There is plenty of tables and chairs to sit down but they are old and falling apart. The people are great and have always been very helpful. Plus side they have been doing some remodeling so hoping they make some big changes.

Not sure about the selection or knowledge of cigars, but I was personally deeply saddened to see they have 2 beautiful African grey parrots and another bird I didnt recognize in a store front that is being constantly smoked in and stinks of smoke and smog everywhere. That is animal abuse in my opinion. Birds have been in studies showing smoke will cause many birds to chronically pluck out their own feathers due to stress. Any professional bird owners or lovers of pet birds will tell you how you should refrain from even lighting candles or air fresheners or incense sticks.

This is strictly a review and rating for the stores chewing tobacco section: Very poor selection of chewing tobaccos. What they did have was roughly the same selection you would find at walmart and it clearly was not fresh as it had a thick layer of dust on all the packages. I went in to this tobacco shop looking for some Beechnut Wintergreen which is tough to find in gas stations and they did not have it either.

They have reorganized the store and it is much easier to find merchandise. Their prices are good. But if you cant handle smoking or cigar smoke, you will want to steer clear.

They have an amazing selection. But some of the humidors were at relatively low humidity (35-50%) which was concerning.
