Awesome dive bar. Excellent atmosphere, incredible food, great folks working here. If youre in Denver and looking for an awesome local joint with great burgers, wings, and an awesome environment. Highly recommend.

Insanely rude bouncer. My group had been consistently drinking for hours and everyone had ordered food. We were sitting outside to get some fresh air, bar back had just taken the drinks we had finished when the bouncer lady aggressively approached us telling us we had 5 minutes to order more drinks or we had to clear our seats for “drinking patrons”. There was nobody waiting for seats…. Just very bizarre behavior, especially when we had been respectful and had bought 5+ rounds. On top of that the bartender that was there when we initially arrived was very aggressive towards my wife…Burgers were good, the guys inside were helpful, vibe was solid outside of the above experiences with staff.

BEST BURGER IN DENVER! Hands down, pound for pound, you wont find a better burger. Ive lived in Denver my whole life. Ive tried them all and Im telling you the truth. My wife and I went in today, not even Knowing it was National Burger Day lol, and we got exactly what we were expecting. A nice, far, juicy burger, with a steamed bun and a bag of Lays potato chips. Nothing fancy, not expensive, just delicious!! Still a hidden gem. I dont know why or how. Its a must try in Denver!

Candlelight Tavern was a fun place to stop for a few brews. Prices were good for Denver and overall I thought the beer selection was good for a dive bar. Didn’t try food but will next time.Bartender was also very nice and welcoming. Will be back.And unlike most dive bars, they had a bathroom mirror in the men’s room so you could snap a quick selfie for the ‘gram

Very solid dive, deals pretty much everyday. Got some cheap beer and the $6 burger w/ chips. Excellent, no frills, reminded me of a classic grill at home. The bartender was attentive and nice too.

The happy hour prices here are crazy cheap. $3.25-3.50 for beers and they even had a carving station going. The horseradish sauce can be a bit intense so Im getting it on the side this time

Place is a great vibe - clearly understaffed. The bar staff didn’t put my food order in but the door man said “check the kitchen guy” and he was AWESOME!!! Made a burger to order and wasn’t upset with me (I was worried cause I was) but D said I’m good and BOY it was awesome! 10/10!!

BEST BURGERS IN DENVER!! Dan-O always makes the best food. It comes out fast, hot, and delicious every time. Its also super cheap compared to most places. The bartenders are super nice and joyous. One of my favorite spots to eat/drink/play pool.

Candlelight Tavern is a great place to meet friends. We were there on a Thursday night and the place was still busy. They have some great bar games and their food is amazing. The location is easy to get to, and the bar staff are amazing.

Bar is by itself in a very small, quiet, dark neighborhood; but it stands out with neon lights. Doesnt seem like much when you walk up to it, but once you get inside, its pretty Lively with 80s music. Small bar with engaging bartenders. Self service at the bar -no waitresses; you do order from the menu also with the bartender. We parked in the neighborhood a block away. We didnt know until we got inside, that they do have a parking lot behind the bar. Great Wings, we will return. This was our first time here

If you’re looking for the locals dive - this is it. We came in for a late night bite and their cheeseburger was unreal, we almost ordered 2 for each. Dano was super hospitable. Great music , chill vibes !

I called to place a food order ahead of time, since I live 2 blocks away and can walk over.Bartender: “Yeah”Me: “Hey is your kitchen still open?”Bartender: “WHATT? It’s really loud in here”Me: “Is your kitchen open for food orders?”Bartender: “Yeah it’s open til 11:30”Me: “Great can I place a” CLICKBartender hangs up before I can finish asking to place a to go order 😂I call back, having only ascertained that the kitchen is indeed still open. Bartender continues to complain about how loud it is. I am calling from a quiet room on a brand new iPhone. I finally get my order placed, and go pick it up. It wasn’t even that busy in the bar.So up until this point had my food been ok, I would have totally satisfied.Onion rings are ok, and my girlfriend is enjoying her cheeseburger. I start eating my burger; and it is rare. Barely cooked. Attached is a photo.2 stars for the service and for my rare burger that I couldn’t eat.

The perfect hole in the wall! Being from Detroit, we were glad to here its a MI owned bar👏🏻 The bartender, Chris is a great guy! Be sure to buy him a shot of Sambuca! We will definitely be back!

This bar only serves burgers but the cook cant cook a burger. I asked for medium rare burger but I received a charcoal burger. It was burnt and when I told the cook that he gave me a well-done burger, he gave me an attitude. The waitress was kind enough to remove the burger from my bill.

Candlelight is my favorite dive bar. It has the old reliable feel of older regulars who come in, but draws the attention of younger people who like to play pool and darts. I love taking people here, I always order the burger (its the best burger in Denver!) The bartenders are so great and friendly. I always love going to Candlelight!

Best Dive Bar in Denver!!! I went on a Saturday afternoon for a beer and decided to have a burger as well. It was a great burger and it came with chips. I will be stopping again for a cold beer and a game of pool. Btw... the bartender made that place.

We are from out of town and we walked into this nice establishment and we were greeted with Zach. Zach was not only nice but this guy went out of his way 100percent to make sure we were good. He was also helping the bar staff and he was just amazing. Chris the bartender greeted us and was so nice as well as Scott who was absolutely fabulous. The owners should be so very proud of these men. I have never been to a bar with such amazing, Fantastic Service. You should be so proud of these amazing and wonderful employees not only are they employees but they care about this place. This is a friendly neighborhood tavern. Service is great with efforts to remember your name and drink order... theyre menu is burgers and wings. They are consistently wonderful. Come with friends or by your self..... older usually gone by 8. Than the younger people take over 21 to 50! You gotta take the chance .......been open many years.. guessing 90 years...

This year Im thankful for the Candlelight chef. His work in the kitchen is second only to how great of a server he was.If you havent been you should go, if you have definitely come back.

Decent bar serving cheap beer and food. Went on a Sunday and the bartenders cant keep up. The line for a drink was about 20 minutes and burger was overcooked and fries unsalted.

Fun place to catch a lions game or play some pool! Small place, so it can get pretty packed, but its a nice spot! Has bar food that isnt bad

Great chill neighborhood dive bar. I would definitely put them in the 5 burgers spots in Denver metro. The people are cool, the vibe is pretty chill, the staff is great, and they have great daily specials. Definitely worth a trip if you are in the neighborhood and looking for a drink or bite.

I absolutely love this place! The vibe is good! Outside patio is dope! Good drink specials. It’s a dive bar so obviously you’re gonna have the Friday/Saturday amateur hour crowd.. but if you’re a true dive bar aficionado… literally go any other day or time and have a great time. If you’re not in college, skip those days. The bartenders are great and so are the actual locals.

Only been once so maybe they were just having an off night, but I wont be coming back to find out. The food was quite good for the price, but all their ketchup bottles were empty - multiple other tables came over to ask if they could use our ketchup and we had to say ours is empty too. All of their taps were down so only canned/bottled beer. And I had to wait for about 15 minutes to get a drink. It also didnt have the vibe of a dive bar as much as a bar for hipsters who wanted to pretend they were at a dive bar. Overall not the worst experience Ive had, but too many good places to grab a drink or a bite to make it worth coming back here.

Best dive in Denver, I’d stay away from draft pours

Super disappointing considering I keep hearing how great the burgers are here.Went and sat front and center by the taps at the bar and was completely ignored after getting a single beer for 30+ minutes, only after my CO ID was scanned harder than an angry tsa worker.Bartender kept taking shots with a group of customers and completely forgot I asked to close out multiple times. Ended up guessing what my beer cost, paid in cash and left hungry.Please train employees how to tend bar. I’ve tended twice the volume by myself for 10 plus years. Definitely will not be rushing back here.

Went there for a company party, so I cant really give a full review. They have a great atmosphere, plenty of TVs for Avalanche games and better than average tequila selection. I Could see how this place would be a good local hangout spot.

Found a gem of a neighborhood bar on South Pearl!!! Amy our Bartender was da bomb! She welcomed us like we had known her all our lives! What a friendly atmosphere, from the cook to the Owner Dave, to all the other Patrons!! We highly recommend this place! And the best was the fantastic Cheeseburger!!!! We will be back.Only bad thing is we live so far away!!! But worth the trip!

Was being harassed by a fellow bar patron, asked the bar staff to intervene, they did so without hesitation (Chris the bartender ) yet the next time I entered the establishment I was told I was unwelcome because I required assistance on a previous occasion. Patron safety isnt a priority. Definitely avoid this uninviting, unsafe environment.

This is not a safe place, please avoid. My friend and I (both young women) were harassed and practically assaulted by 2 different patrons within an hour of walking in for the first time. First, while having a drink at the bar and random man reached across the bar to make physical contact with me and then made lewd gestures and facial expressions towards my friend and I after I asked him to leave us alone. After a few minutes of ignoring him, he again reach across the bar to make physical contact, this time with my drink glass. A few minutes later a different person approached the bar near where my friend and I were sitting. To order a drink, he physically pushed himself between my friend and I after we asked him to find another open spot at the bar. He refused to move and leave us alone and instead physically forced his body between my friend and I. He refused to move and we walked out. This was my first visit to this bar and it will certainly be my last. I live in this neighborhood and thought I could enjoy a nightcap at this highly rated place, but I am outraged by the harassment I experienced from 2 different people within an hour of being in there. Please dont give this place your business if they continue to allow this dangerous behavior from their patrons.

Love coming here, we have a dart night with friends and the workers make our night there amazing everytime! Simple menu but amazing food. 20 wings for $. 50 each are my favorite.

Visited here a couple months ago and loved it. Good beer, plenty of sports on the TV and everyone is very friendly. Had a great time talking to Scooter, one of the bar tenders and the other locals who were there. If I come through Denver again I am going to visit here again. Wow! Bomb dive bar vibes and wonderful late night food!! Kitchen closes at 11:30 so plenty of time to fill up before hanging out and getting a on the fly shot from one of the bartenders Scooter. Definitely recommend!

Wish they had better cider options (eps bc colorado has so many local ones!) but awesome neighborhood bar! Definitely has a crowd during weekend nights.

We got in, immediately got IDd, cool, no big deal. Didnt seem too happy we gave them military IDs instead of licenses, but everyone was over 21 anyway. We were told to have a seat anywhere and someone would help us. We waited about 15 minutes, occasionally getting weird looks from some of the people that worked there. Nobody ever helped us though, so we eventually left.Were not sure if it was a racial thing or if it was the military IDs they were talking about that we gave them, but hopefully whoever their preferred patrons are enjoy the place and the food. We heard it was good. Unfortunately, we didnt get to try it and find out.

OMG! I just had the experience of my life right out of an 80s sitcom. I met the owner Dave on a flight from Detroit to Denver. We got to talking on the plane and I mentioned I had a 5.5 hour layover in Denver. Dave invited me to the bar, and i had the time of my life. First, Dave is a former US Navy cook (I was former Navy) and then he went on to culinary school. He and I are both huge Detroit sports fans so the bromance came natural. His Jalapeño Cream Cheese burger was absolutely incredible. Though the burger and fries are top top shelf on taste, this place cannot be properly described except that it is out of the 80s Sitcom Cheers. Everyone truly does know your name and made a point to come over, talk to Dave and introduce themselves. I felt so incredibly welcomed. I’ve never experienced something like this even in a church. I cannot mention all of you by name but the hugs and handshakes really made my trip through Denver one of the most memorable ever. Dave’s patrons are the salt of the earth and so genuine and friendly. If I’m ever back in Denver I will be back!

Cool hole in the wall spot with burgers to die for. The person cooking the burger walked out of Kitchen doors and dropped off condiments at the table announcing “a grrrreat bacon cheeseburger comin your way” (somethin about face time with your proud cook, am I right?!?). Well, folks- if that isn’t enough- “grrrreat” was an understatement for that burger. It didn’t even feel like a bite….it was heaven.

Was going to eat here with friends, but one of them got turned away from the door for having a vertical license? And she was older than the rest of us, but because her license was vertical the lady at the door said she couldnt go in!Ridiculous policy, we will NOT try to eat here again.

This place gets five stars for its true dive bar nature. The staff is very cool and down to earth. No frills pool table, darts, shuffle board, and large jenga. It can get bust on a Fri night or Saturday night. The food is cheap but food. The chef takes pride in his burger.

Great dive. Friendly staff and patrons. Showed up at 8pm on a Friday evening to a bar full of cheery, seasoned bar flies. Everyone there was fun and a little rough around the edges at that time, which I greatly like. By about 9:30, it was starting to fill up with a younger crowd, but I greatly enjoyed the visit.

This is the spot in denver to avoid excessive drink prices and snooty people. Truly a Detroit bar, packed with fun loving, hard working people who appreciate paying less than $12 for a beer. The food was surprisingly good, the setting was even better.

Refused the oldest person in our group of 5 because her Utah ID was vertical? The bouncer was an older woman, she refused to read the actual date. Didnt card the rest of us. Left her outside the door with the rest of us none the wiser while we were thinking of what to order. What terrible service!

Had a great time, but its hard to know what to do when you get inside. I know its a bar but it was hard to get a tab it was hard to get a beer it was hard to get a shot, it was hard to get the table,it was hard to play shuffleboard, it was hard to play foosball. Cool little hang out with plenty of TVs. One side has tables to sit, the other side has pool tables and a shuffleboard table. There was a private party on a Saturday at 6PM which kind of sucked but thats cool that you can rent the whole place out for a private party.Overall, Id go there to chill/belly up and watch games anytime.

Bugs and ants behind the short shelf over by the pool tables. In the dictionary under old dive bar theres a picture of this place. Its run down, dirty, and nothing looks maintained. The burgers come out looking just as bad as the bar, but unexpectedly, they are very tasty. Onion rings were good too. Just replacing the ceiling tiles and showing this place a little cleaning love would make it so much better.

Scott and Chris are amazing bartenders, and Dan is incredible in the kitchen! They remember my name every time I come in! My favorite bar in Denver for the last 10 years!

If you like a divey bar, look no further. There are actual dart boards, not the plastic tip darts, pool tables, golden tee, foosball, table shuffle and I believe buck hunter is still available too. By the looks of the place, you wouldnt think that the food is good, but they have an amazing burger. Bartenders are friendly, the beer is cold, and the drinks are stiff. Dont get too rowdy because the door man is ready for some action. All and all a great time to sling some back.

Okay my experience in this tiny dive bar was surprisingly great! My boyfriend and I went for his companies Christmas party. They rented the place out, ordered pizza, had a raffle, ect. Such a great time! The lack of space was a bit overwhelming at times, but as people trickled out later in the night it felt more comfortable. If youre looking for a casual and affordable place to grab a drink Candlelight Tavern is your jam.

This is a place where you can play variety of bar games, so it is good place if you have group of friends that like to compete against each other. They have Foosball, darts, jenga, pool tables, and shuffleboard which means you can spend a lot of time there and not get bored. Food is decent, nothing fancy but good enough to get you thru.

Hands down my favorite bar in Denver. They treat my Dad like a regular when he is in town. The staff goes out of their way to learn your name and make you feel at home. My Mom bought them a Christmas present and had me bring it back from Michigan last year.

Best $5 burger hole in the wall in Denver. All of the staff is super friendly including the cook who has the fast burger down quick and tastes excellent and perfectly juicy!

I think I paid $6-7 for a dozen wings? Sold. Great little dive bar with shuffle board, darts, and pool. Worth every penny. Lot of the patrons were a ton of fun.

If youre looking for a dive bar you can get a GOOD bite to eat; youve found it. I always get the jalepeno cream cheese burger and ive never been let down, its actually one of my favorute burgers in denver.

The service wasnt great! After last call which was a little after 1am, they started to turn the lights off and kick people out. We paid to play pool but our game was cut in half after last call. Overall I feel the service sucked and I wont go back.

Candlelight is one of the best bars in Denver. The drinks are cheap, and the bartenders have 30 years of experience in getting you drunk and showing you a great time!

Candlelight has good food - Amy greeted us took our order and made us feel welcome for first timers with her friendly and helpful manner. GREAT place for a hamburger.

Elevated pub food, good beers on tap and happy hour. Small & friendly. We brought our college age kids not a heavy drinking atmosphere.

If youre looking for an unpretentious dive bar this is a great spot. Its dark, no windows or natural light, but a cool spot to grab a beer. I wouldnt spend an afternoon here, its more of a quick grab and go

Dive bar. Cheap drinks, non pricy food but decent, friendly staff, 2 pool tables & other bar games. Located in a nice neighborhood with easy parking, plus they have parking spots in the back.

Nice little dive bar. 2 pool tables, 2 steel tip dart boards, foosball table, shuffle board table, jukebox. Lots of DU kids on weekends and late nights, especially during the school year.

Didnt order food so I wont speak on that. What I will say is that a friend brought me here because its close to his house on a Wednesday night and it was busy and fun. Had a great time and Ill recommend it.

Pretty typical dive bar. We were there with a large group for a birthday and were obviously not the regulars. Shuffleboard, Foosball, and Golden Tee were some highlights.

It would not be my first pick, a little drab and outdated. Whet to the bar to order drinks and the bartender was eating an apple behind the bar. She told me to go to one of the two bartenders who were currently busy.

Candlelight? More like Mandlelight. If youre a girl and like being annoyed by ugly horny guys you will like this place.Also the bartenders dont keep track of bar tabs so you could end up paying for everyone elses drinks. And they over charge.Also waiting in line for the bathroom takes forever, because everyone uses the bathroom to do cocaine I think.
