QXTs Night Club

About 10 years ago we started going to QXTs in Newark and we love the place. They have a main dance/band floor and two separate areas on the lower floor. Multiple DJs play a variety of music, including 80s alternative (Melody Music to us) on some nights. They also have live music some nights and serve some great food (Wonderful Tacos!!). Its a great place. The events, DJs etc. are posted on their website. Weve always felt pretty safe parking there and except maybe when the prudential center is having something, the parking is free.

Incredibly inclusive place. We always have a good time here. The drinks are fine and priced about right for a metropolitan area ($10-13 for a mixed drink). The cocktail menu is creative, especially for a quick-service bar. My only gripe is during the 80s/90s/00s dance parties, the DJ plays a lot of deep cuts and remixes, when it’s be great to hear more big hits for a party atmosphere. This is my favorite club and I’m so glad they have been around so long (I first went 20 years ago!)!!

Best goth club close to home . Took my girl here for the first time and she loved it. My second time back and we had so much fun. The community that goes here are also very nice and welcoming. Danced with random people who I didn’t even know with open arms. Had the pleasure to talk to and meet Rolando the owner he is also a very nice guy. Would not hesitate to go back.

This is our home away from home, we were so excited when they reopened and had to get there as soon as possible to see all her friends and all the familiar faces that we’ve known throughout all the years. They have amazing DJs, fantastic bartenders, and a variety of rooms to choose from. Everybody is really nice and welcoming, this is a New Jersey and East Coast staple for the dark, goth, industrial, 80s, and more types of people.

If youre a NJ goth, you already know Qs. Its been out home for longer than anyone can count. Consistently great nights, great crowds, fantastic staff...theres a reason Qs is still going strong. I truly love this place.

Just so you know, I have been patronizing this establishment for almost 2 decades ( I stopped going years ago, went back last week, and it was a wack, uncomfortable nightmare. So the cover is almost always $20, plus 2 or 3 drinks youre going to spend a minimum of $50, for overpoured drinks, or skunked beer. Then, there are the regulars who also basically run all the events, and the supposed DJs are always the same and play the same songs. Also, the regulars will give you dirty looks and make you feel uncomfortable if you are not a commercial stereotypical goth person, or too non - white. (Not very friendly or safe for POC) And the place is empty more than half the time. It used to be a cool place before I knew what cool was. Never going there again, even if I was paid to. Ok, maybe if I was paid like $2k or filming a movie, then Id go. But I wouldnt like it.The owner is cool though. 😎

Best alternative/underground nightclub ever. The bartenders are great and so its the atmosphere of the club. Shoutout to Keyla, she has a great energy and makes really good cocktails. All staff is amazing from the door to the Dj’s and so its the food. A place where you can be yourself without judgments. I will definitely come back.

Im not sure how to feel about this place, or if this specific situation was a one time thing.Ive been coming here since badly opened and I have so many great times to make your experiences.One of the last times I went it was actually for my college graduation (2022) and I saw some friends performing and had a great time.The most recent time that I went was for a goth night and I was extremely excited for it; I was bringing my wife with me.She had never gone to something like that and she was excited, she even looked apart it was nice.LoLBut once there, we were getting this weird Vibes and looks. People were looking as funny like we didnt belong.They was even this one guy who kept walking in front of us, back and forth and just staring at us the whole time. Or it is what it is. You know, they were people all sorts of places there having fun, I really dont know what this was all about.When I decided to leave after about 2 hours, I was actually in the basement level; one on the corner sections. Thats were it all happened.Upstairs, I saw the owner, usually extremely nice dude. Last I was there, we spoke outside for like an hour. It was just so nice to see him interact with all of us again. BTW, he is doing great work at keep all of this alive.I said hi to him, like I usually do, and he also seen a little off. Even the upstairs bar sections seem tense for some reason. I dont know if Ill go back, but I hope they dont hate me for writing this; it needed to be said.P.S.10 months later, they flagged the photos I uploaded with this review as offensive, even though two of the photos are pictures of myself. LoLAfter this incident I was reach out by others claiming similar situations.I really loved this place, I dont fit in many places and I thought this would had been a good home, sadly I am disappointed.

This is a wonderful goth/alternative-friendly space that hosts theme nights, karaoke, and game nights. The atmosphere is wonderful, the bartenders are great, and the music is amazing! Highly recommend.

Went for Fetish Night as a first-timer, and I’ll definitely be coming back. “True to this, not new to this” alternative vibes. Loved that they have 2 different floors with 3 different DJs. The alien decor & the arcade games were a cool touch. Women’s bathroom was well-maintained. They had good ventilation/air flow. Wasn’t too packed. DJs actually DJ, which is awesome! Drinks were like $12-14 each

One of the best alt nightclubs that Ive had the pleasure of enjoying!

1) The Street this club is on is so nice and peaceful2) The club goers are respectful, quiet when outside the club, and the outfits are awesome3) The drinks are DANGEROUS 😆 taste excellent and have a heavy hand at the same time (you cant taste it though)4) The kitchen is open ALL night, yes hot delicious food when you need something in your belly.If you havent been you need to go. Worrying about crowds? Go on a Thursday. Want a nice club atmosphere with people and dancing? I suggest a Friday or Saturday night. They also support having local bands play their venue which is awesome.

I cant speak on the food but I can speak on everything else. Cocktails are on point. Cheaper cover if you arrive early. Sad that it took me until I was 30 years old to discover this place considering its been around for 31 years. Its somewhere to go with friends or solo. A true time capsule. A place that is hard to describe. A place to dance. A place to be yourself. A place that somehow captures the elusiveness of what alternative really means. 3 dance floors, metal shows, punk shows, 80s nights, darkwave, industrial, karaoke, open mics, burlesque shows, random themed nights (Halloween and Black light night are my two favorite nights of the year). There really is no place quite like it. Something for everyone here. Sometimes you just have to see something for yourself first hand. If youre looking for a fun night out look no further. Awesome atmosphere, great music, great people.Dropped something at the club on New Years, was certain it was either gone or in the garbage. Got a call from the club that they found it, and they mailed it to me! Def want to come back

I enjoyed the evening so much! All my interactions with security, the bartenders and dj were great! Fun crowd! Great spaces to sit and chill. Great spaces to dance. The food was so excellent! I got a roasted vegetable salad and Buffalo wings. Outstanding fun in every way, I shall return. Bravo! Just wonderful.

My fav night spot in NJ! Dark dungeon vibe, sure -- but the most welcoming and friendly place to hang. Karaoke on Wednesdays - supportive, fun crowd. Love going for live music and themed events. The food is also really good!

Partner and myself went to see our favorite band on a theme night, was my first time.. had a blast. Drinks were cheap, bar service was fast and atmosphere was great.

I have been a patron here for 5 years and this is my happy place. I’m delighted they serve food until 2am, the tacos and empanadas are to die for! I love that there’s three different bars with their own atmosphere and the staff are hella down-to-earth. Only club that plays techno and 80’s-90’s bops. Please stay open forever!!!

As a person who has attended QXTs for decades ( I am 40 have been going there since I was 21) Firstly its usually always empty lately, probanly because it is run by the same group of self serving people who ironically judge you for your individuality if you dont fit into their faux commercial I love death and swlf destruction goth ideals. If youre looking for a place to feel safe being yourself without being judged, good drinks and good vibes, this is no longer the place. R.I.P. Qxts. Now if youre looking for a place where you pay $20 for a cover, to walk into an empty club, with the same few people that basically live there that will give you dirty looks and get served skunked beer, then this is the place! R.I.P. Qxts, enjoy the silence.

Got there at around 12:30 after reading the Black Parade flyer very carefully . There was no mention of a cover charge at all . When we got there , one of the security guys was rude . Specifically the one checking IDs. Not the one giving out the purple bracelets , he was lovely . But then inside we were told there was a cover charge . Also , the other review is right . There was no parking .

From the dozens of clubs Ive been to this is definitely hands down the best in terms of music and atmosphere. And its very safe, the people who attend the club like to have fun but they dont harass others

DJs always fire, definitely a fun spot for food and drinks. BONUS FOOD SERVICE TILL 2am when club closes at 3am! Dance your heart out with the juiciest tacos! I am recommending them tacos!

THE Best Goth/Alt Nightclub Ive ever been to. Great Music. Great Atmosphere. Great People. Fun times! Reminded me of The Batcave from back in the 80s.

Absolutely love this place ! Best night club around. I love that you can do your own thing but also come together with others. The people are respectful and they have security. The owner is so friendly too. I cannot even do this place justice in words. You need to come see for yourself.

QXTs is a classic. It feels smaller than it did but if you are into Goth/Industrial, give it a whirl. Also, if its open, the Mexican place next door is awesome.

First time i went to this place. Had a great time. Bartenders were really nice the security was on point. Everyone having a great time. I enjoy my time today. I been having some personal issues socializing and going out and this place was the best to try after struggling so bad to try new places. Hope to come back soon.

It’s the only goth club in the NYC area. They regularly have well-known industrial bands.

Honestly, when I think Goth nightclub food does not come to mind. That being said, I just had the best burger Ive had in a very long time here. Other people were raving about their delicious food as well.

Had a blast here food is ok but the real icing on the cake was the energy in the room, no drama no wildness, just vibes fun music and drink ima be coming here again🖤🔥🔥

Always a great time! Staff is great. Atmosphere is perfect for the darker side. Awesome music and a really welcoming crowd. I have gone by myself often and always meet the great people. Tonight I went to see Life Of Agony for an intimate show and had so much fun! Thank for never letting me down QXTS!

I thought that i was going to a concert, but its more of a dance club where a band will play every hour and a half or so. Wound up waiting so long for the band i wanted to see that i just left. Theres nothing wrong with this place, but just be aware that if youre going to see bands you might not want to show up when the doors open

I love love love LOVE this place. I come here every once in a while and always feel at home. But the only this I wish is that they were open more than two days. 😩🤧 I work all days of the weekends so it is hard to come by but if they we opened Sundays too then it would be AMAZING. Two days is not enough. 😢 Please consider opening at least one more day.

I like QXTs but be careful with the bartender Andreia, she stole money from me. I bought a drink and paid with credit card and left a cash tip, I wrote cash clearly on my CC receipt. Andreia took my cash tip and added on a CC tip as well. My CC statement showed a higher total than my receipt. I reported the fraudulent charge to my CC company and the QXT manager. He never acknowledged the theft and I never heard anything from him after I reported it. I was very disappointed in the managers response to theft from a customer. Please check your CC statements if you pay with card!

I admire and respect that this club has been around serving the industrial, goth, and alternative community for what - almost 20 years? The place looks great, the DJs are cool, the music was great, and the crowd is on par too. I know people from NYC who claim they come out to QXTs b/c its better than the clubs in the city. Id like to see even more people get off their asses and get out to support the community and bring it back to its glorious open-minded splendor... and then some. Keep up the good work...

Best alternative music dance club around. Better than any NYC city night, by far. Its awesome that they now have so many theme nights: goth/industrial, 80s, 90s, indie, etc. No attitudes and super friendly staff.

Love this nightclub! Dont get here too often due to the distance from our house, but its always a treat when we do! So80s is a themed night which, you guessed it, is all 80s music. Danced the night away! Three rooms, three bars, with each room featuring a different DJ and music.

Friend got assaulted here club did nothing, If you want to feel safe here this is not the place to go. They will keep staff here who violate customers and say that they arent like that when confronted. Be safe and be careful of QXT.

This is my favorite club to go in NJ... stumbled upon this club by accident leaving a concert at Prudential Center almost 2 years ago and so glad I did... Im here about once every five or six weeks. Love the 80s new-wave alternative music with New Order Depeche Mode Cure Smiths etc... the staff (owner, bartenders, DJs even bouncers) are simply wonderful and the people that attend the club are interesting but really great bunch of people attending, everybody gets along in harmony, mingle, dance, Express their individuality and does their own thing. In my opinion theres no alternative or rock Club quite like this in New Jersey that I know of... this is my happy place. Upstairs you often have and 80s New Wave night or could be just dance night down the basement you have the Crypt with darker alternative music/goth in one room and in another room Industrial music real interesting place theres something for everybody. Ladies used to get in for free before 11 p.m. the place pretty much starts to come alive around 11:30 to 12 and is open till 3 a.m. unlike most bars in New Jersey which close at 2. Did I say that this is my happy place?? Go and try it you wont regret it...😊

The idiots working here put me in the most mind-blowing, illegal, immoral situation. I came here with my husband and a few friends. We were dancing, drinking and having a good time. Not being roudy, disturbing, threatening, no bad behavior. I wasn’t even very drunk. (It’s 10am the next day and zero hangover) So we were just dancing by ourselves and having fun. So I’m dancing by myself when suddenly a security guard comes up to me on the dance floor and tells me I need to leave! Out of nowhere and would not explain why! I had no idea what was going on and did nothing wrong. I, of course being innocent, argued and demanded they tell me what’s going on but instead they forcefully grabbed me (I’m a petite woman of 27) dragged me up the stairs and threw me outside nearly dislocating my shoulder. I was in tears. In shock. I never believed police brutality would possibly ever affect me. This was the worst, most unreal situation. Complete violation of my rights. When I got outside, they told me it was all because of a mere ACCUSATION that I grabbed a random MAN’S BUTT! Laughing because drunk or not..that’s just not me. ??? And a mere speculation made them toss me around like a sack of potatoes, not to mention call me horrible names. I was literally falsely accused of sexual assault and without any evidence was assaulted myself by security! Note to anyone: if you want to watch someone get thrown out of a club banged and bruised, tell security they “grabbed a hiney”. Why would I grab a butt? Lol I’m married. I am just beyond belief. I am sad at the stupidity of our society and how this situation was handled. I am just appalled. Honestly, it was just unbelievable. We were just dancing alone and having a good time then next minute I’m getting forced out and carried away by some big fat dude. I can’t make this up. This place is unsafe and frankly very scary that this type of event happened. If I were you I’d be scared to go there. This was just so wrong.

Magical gothic spot in Newark! I love so much this place! Keyla is a very criative and professional bartender. She can get you any delicious drink exactly the way you like. They have a very good space to dance, 3 or more bathrooms, 3 bars, 1 big stage. The staff is all friendly. The owner is very nice and charismatic person. They have 80s and 90s parties on Fridays. If you are a big fan of rock/new wave/synth-pop you should go there!

From an original member of the early, beginning of industrial/EBM i must say i was pleasantly surprised with the music. most clubs of today are nothing but posers but this was truly a taste of the industrial past. the only reasons im giving three stars and not four/five is because the sound systems are subpar. the music may be loud, but its not clear... the sound system is obviously old and is being pushed beyond its limits. either turn the music down, or get an updated sound system that can handle the volume. other than that, i truly great experience for those nostalgic of an industrial past...

Ive been going here for 13 years and Im glad the place has been on a big upswing recently. Theres no other spots quite like this in the area short of you going to events in NYC, and those could be once-a-month events, whereas Qs is open every weekend with occasional variations on the music and scene (80s nights, 90s nights, straightforward gothic industrial, open mics, and occasional live bands too). As a hockey fan, Ive also enjoyed seeing fellow Devils fans stop in after a game since its right down Mulberry from Prudential Center. Its probably a spot defacto sports fans wouldnt walk into otherwise but the greatest aspect of this place is that everyone can enjoy the vibe inside no matter what walk of life.

Thank you so much for all your help with my daughters wedding reception! Yes, a goth wedding reception!!! Ronaldo helped with everything; DJ Luna was so accommodating and sweet, Ben the photographer took fantastic photos, the bar staff were very congenial, the guys who helped with breaking down tables and chairs did fast work, and the bouncer was so nice. I highly recommend QXT for your out of this world event! Affordable and such an exciting venue!

A very different place. It has a basement that split into to for different types of music and upstairs is a bar, dance floor and a relaxing area. Stage isnt that great but is a fun place to hang out at.

Ive been going here since college (2002-2004) and its still one of my favorite destinations. Check out Iron Garden events if youre looking for unique pan-pagan programs.

Great nightclub for the alternative minded, been there for 31 years one of the oldest in the country!

The 20 dollar cover charge is not worth going. most clubs in the city dont even charge that and they have food, parking and drink specials. this place does not.

Its the best, and perhaps the longest surviving, alternative dance club in the tri-state area. Over 20 years of spell-weaving and enchantments.

This place is a phenomenon. A true gem hidden in Newark. I’ve never felt more at home outside of home. Fantastic music, people, atmosphere… not one complaint.
