SURF CITY NAILS SPA

I went in today and am very disappointed in the service. I had gel manicure done and the color is awful, and already chipping! Spaced in my nail not evenly painted, and they obviously didn’t put enough coats on beggars the color is so uneven! Completely over priced for how bad they look!!!!! Never going back!

Went in for a fill in and had the pleasure of getting Lynne. She was so sweet and did an amazing job on my nails! I will be requesting her from now on!

I am indifferent about this place. Sometimes I like their work and sometimes I do not like it at all. It all depends on who does our nails. I ended up asking for a design the other day for my birthday. I would have definitely had her redo it but it was near closing time and I was already running behind schedule because Ruby got up and didn’t return for at least 5 minutes which was kind of annoying. The design looks absolutely nothing like the Virgo constellation I asked her to do. Her design has 5 “tails” and 2 squares whereas the actually design has 4 “tails” and one square. So frustrating to have to come home and fix my nails that I just paid them to do. Ugh. Other times that have popped off or broke super quickly or I leave with lumps and misshaped nailed. I guess you could say it is a gamble. And a pricey gamble at that. It was $108 for my daughter and myself to get our nails filled.

Had a 5 star treatment today by Anna! Got a premium gel pedicure and gel manicure. Anna took the time to provide me with the best pedicure Ive had in 5 years. I am hard on my feet, she left me no calluses, beautifully trimmed cuticles and the softest legs and feet. She did a great massage too. Thanks Anna for giving me great service today!

First impressions, staff, salon and pedis received pretty good. Came before closing on Sunday & got served right away. Massage chairs very thorough. Techs had great attention to detail, esp nail prep/polish (dremel sanding, base coat, 2 coats polish & topcoat) so looking for some major longevity. A bit rough with cutical clipping (couple of small bleeding wounds.) Didnt really feel a salt scrub kinda exfoliation (which I like) but some substance seemed to remove dry skin as legs felt gr8 after.) Will be back.

I wasn’t listened to AT ALL when I specifically said I wanted to keep the length of my nails. The nail technician not only filed down all of my nails, but changed the shape to one of them before asking me if I was okay with the shape. He then completely broke one of my nails and was just going to put an acrylic tip on without asking me. I spent two months growing them out and now they look like uneven nubs.

This place is a hit or miss. You do not get consistent service. Ive been 3 times and each time the experience has been underwhelming. This time, I went with my family and my manicure came out well (picture attached). My mom got cut while they did her pedicure, one of my sisters pedicure is not done properly (picture attached), and my other sisters pedicure was done well. I noticed that my manicurist put the tools back in their packaging and I didnt feel confident they were being sterilized. Previously, my mom got a pedicure and there was skin floating in the foot bath. Basic manicures are $15 and basic pedicures are $26. They tried to tell us Amex wasnt accepted but their door says otherwise, so they took it. Overall, for the price I would expect higher quality service and a cleaner environment.

Editing my review.... i returned today after about 2 months. Jenny did my pedicure and she did a spectacular job!Extremely disappointed with my $65 manicure. My fingers actually hurt where my skin was rubbed off. It’s not my first hombre and it just doesn’t look blended nicely. They all look very different. Even the shape is not even.I even had a reference picture.Why is it so hard to find a good nail tech 💔

This place is very welcoming .Walked right in and was immediately helped .They are very quick and will get you in and out .

I got my nails done here and the guy I got did not do good I went back 5 minutes later to ask if he can fix them he said no and his coworker saw how bad he did and was willing to fix them but he said no again, man was mad about his own art work. They also charged my sister 95 for gel nails!! Will not be coming back

I used to come to this place for past few years and I known all the old staffs but I don’t think that I will come back .The owner seem kind refused to answer me about her old staffs and try to make me making appointment with Tom , idk who is that guy but okay fine , I guess I give them a chance.I went there , and sat there , waited for him , that guy don’t speak any English at all , all he did try to push me get more expensive pedicure and gel polish that all he spoke to you .And I noticed that he have no knowledge about the job that he doing or license to do the job .i don’t think I would come back and give them my business anymore.

I went to this nail salon with a clear appointment, but Id to wait there for more than 1 hour, they are not staffed and the service quality is too bad. I paid close to $200 for pedicure and manicure with acrylic. I wasnt satisfied at all with my experience. Nail tools are not hygienic. It was a mistake to come here!

Visited this location again after 2 years and it was the best pedicure hands down I have ever had! Steven did an amazing job!

I love going here! Holly the manager has always been amazing! Super friendly staff and excellent pedicures and gel manicures! Today I got acrylic. The new girl Leah does an awesome, efficient job! So friendly and down to earth! I wanted to give 10 stars today! Thanks Leah for the nails and pedicure! Was amazing and relaxing! As a mother of 3, I needed this spa time, and I got more then what I expected here!

I like the decor, and they did a great job on my and my friends nails! My friend came in with botched nails from a different place, they fixed them for her and did a much better job.

I’m from out of town. I broke a nail. And they fixed it perfectly.

Don’t waste your time. This place was okay at one point but I just went in today and I said I want a manicure with dip powder and they asked if I’d wait and I said yes, then a young guy came around and said pick a color and go to the last table. He stood there and watched me, waiting for me to pick a color (uncomfortable) and then was mumbling under his breath as I went to the table. He couldn’t find the color I wanted and came back and said they don’t have it, so I asked if he had something similar and he walked away, mumbling under his breath. He began grinding on my nails and it got super hot and I asked if he’d be easy… started mumbling again. Then he started to try and apply color to my nails but hadn’t done the manicure, I asked him if he could do the manicure first and clean up my cuticle. He literally huffed and said it’ll be an extra $10.00 and at that point I was already there for 30 minutes trying to just get a manicure so I left. Go somewhere else.

I use to frequent this business , however Friday was my first time here in a while. I went in picked my color and was seated in a pedicure chair. I waited so long that the water got cold and then a older lady (that was also caring for an infant) sat down and proceeded to trim my toe nails. She cut my big toenail way too short, to the point of hurting. Then she had to leave to take care of the infant again. Then a younger lady came and took care of me (much more pleasant ). Very Unprofessional experience to say the least. I am not sure where the previous employees went, however I did not recognize anyone. Will not be back.

This was one of the worst pedicures I’ve had, there was 3 customers in the place and all employees on hand. They rushed through the whole process and coming from someone who is a licensed nail technician. There was no pressure with the massage I still have spots on my heels they missed and the polish job was not it. For $70 this was not it I basically got a polish change and some lotion.

Great experience! Had a full set by Holly, who did a wonderful job, exactly what I wanted. She didnt rush, and I was relieved there was no burning or hurting my nails as Ive experienced at other salons! I also had a pedicure which was great. Clean, spacious, nice atmosphere. Ill definitely go back!

I never get my nails done, and the last few times at other salons when I did go, I was disappointed in what I had gotten. My nail tech at nail spa did A BEAUTIFUL JOB, I’m finally happy with the way my nails look ! Thankyou nail spa!

I wanted to get my nails done before I traveled to Topsail for vacation, but all the nail salons around me at home are awful. I decided to roll the dice and try a place once we got to Surf City. I’m very glad I did. I found the staff to be friendly and skilled. I had no questions about the different nail packages or their cost. I also felt that the salon was very clean and hygienic. I wish we had a salon like this at home!

Holly is great! She’s the only one I like to let do my nails because her professionalism and attention to detail is amazing. I got my nails done yesterday and didn’t like the color so I went back to have it changed (nothing was wrong with how they were done I just couldn’t get used to the color). She saw me in there and redid them herself and was going to charge me nothing!!! I insisted on paying since she did such a great job both times. She also does eyebrows like a pro!!! The only person I will touch my eyebrows unless I do them myself.

Do not recommend... took my daughter for her bday treat. Customer service subpar, quality is terrible - better off doing at home. Place is probably one of the dirtiest ive seen. Had to sit and listen to I assume the owner/ manager at the front argue with most employees after Customer would leave about the tips and amount of money the customer paid to make some of the employees give money back to the owner or manager. Half of the employees are Americans. I left more than 20% tip even with the circumstances because thats what I believe. But as soon as I did at the counter they started making small talk comments between the owner and younger boy how that wasnt enough and at lower voice to not come back. Trust me, wont be back. Earn your money. Get it together

Although I think they did a good job, I was totally grossed out.I went in to get my eyebrows done after reading good reviews, and the sheet & pillow case covering the table were disgustingly dirty.I was waiting for them to cover the table with paper but that never happened.So as they did my eyebrows all I Kept thinking about was lice getting in my hair.I don’t know why they don’t realize that the health violation but somehow it needs To be brought to their attention

My $40 fill in was $50 when she finished because she shortened my nails a little bit. It only cost $35 in Jacksonville so I will definitely make the drive from now on. My 1st & last time here!!!

In NC for the week for vacation. Decided to treat me and my wife to pedicures. Overall Id say it was a good experience especially being my first pedicure.They were kind and very professional. Only issue is that the massage chair that my wife was sitting in stopped working and the nodes were sitting uncomfortably in her lower back.As far as pedicures are concerned, my feet havent looked this good in a while and my wife enjoyed hers as well. Will come back on our next visit.

In my third trimester of pregnancy and got an amazing pedicure there. The lady was so gentle and did a great job. It’s been two weeks and my toes still look great. A little pricey but worth every penny and will be going back for my next pedicure.

Rushed pedicure, I left with my feet looking exactly the same as I went in. With the exception of the polish. I won’t be returning. This photo is AFTER the 65$ pedicure. And no this wasn’t a busy day. I was one of the few inside and multiple employees weren’t working. So it was rushed for no reason.

I got my nails done yesterday and they already started chipping and cracking the day of. I didnt pick at them or mess with them to cause this. It was 30$ for just a plain manicure no gel. Not worth the money.

The person I normally went to left after moving to a different state but Mike was wonderful and didna great job with my nails. I dont like change but he made everything a wonderful experience

Did the premium pedicure for $46 and man was it worth it. The best part was when they took us back to a little comfy room to lay down while giving a 15 min massage with hot stones and some sort of tingling lotion. They spent over an hour where as most places want you in and out as soon as possible. Place was clean and pleasant. Will return on next years vacation

They were very friendly and nice when I got there! However, the price board said a gel manicure was $20, which surprised me since most places they are $30-$40. But at the end I was charged $29; seems like she gave herself an $8 tip without asking!. I also walked out with my nails painted, but my cuticles were not nice and cleaned up. When I get a manicure I expect them to look nicer than something I could do myself for cheaper. The tools that were used also did not seem very thoroughly cleaned. I dont like leaving bad reviews but I was expecting more based on the ratings.

Hollie has an eye for an eyebrow. Wonderful job with waxing. She takes her time and not rush to waxing eyebrows which is very important. She listens to suggestions and very friendly. Would definitely recommend Hollie. I have not done any nails with Hollie but will definitely give it a try sometime soon. Im sure I will not be disappointed.April 2019Wow!!!! Mario is 👏 awesome! He did a wonderful, very thorough job with my pedicure. I highly recommend MARIO for any nail services.... you won’t be disappointed. Mario cares about results and customer satisfaction and I must say that’s what makes him special and unique😊

Its been a hot min since weve gone to Surf City Nail Spa. Our experience today was unlike our past ones, in a great way. We got pedicures today and were done in 45 mins with drying time. We will definitely be back to get our nails done. ❤️

The Best Place here in Surf City, Sneads Ferry, or Hampstead areas! I love the owner and her employees! Rachel and Holly have it going on! The sweetest gals and a perfect job every time I have been. I have recommended this awesome nail salon to many friends and will continue! Friendly smiles and awesome services! A beautiful and clean nail salon! My mother-in-law and I were running errands around this area and decided to stop in. We both immediately complimented how pretty the inside was. We both had wonderful technicians for manicures. We want to go back for pedicures soon!!

I’ve been here twice and twice I’ve gotten a pedicure that’s lasted for a month or more. They do a great job with polish here!!! It can get busy but it’s worth the wait over other places close by.

I have an appointment i made the day before go in and they cant me in for another hour.... this was the 2nd time i tried to go there and the last time i called and said do you openings now and they said yes come over we can get you in and then we got there and the didnt get us in for 45 minutes... they do anything to get you in the door including lie it is frustrating when you know it takes a bit of time so you can and they lie. Disappointing!

Horrible quality. Paid $55 for a set of nails. The tape they used for the design started peeling off after one day. When I came back to have them fix it they demanded $45 for fixing their own mistakes. Then went on to blame me for coming in at a time when the person who did my nails was not at work because only that person could fix it for free. Stay away from this place.

Definitely prices for tourists. paid 67 dollars and she didn’t scrape dead skin off nor did she pick any hang nails out. She was also watching videos and didn’t say much to me.

The BEST pedicure Ive ever had. Had the volcano pedicure and loved everything about it. The staff was friendly, alot of choices for color and very clean. Will definitely be coming back

I got my nails done here last week... wouldn’t recommend.Almost every nail is a COMPLETELY different shape and bubbly. I was cut almost a dozen times too. My cuticles also weren’t pushed back so in less than a week it looked like I needed to go get them filled..I also was a walk-in so I knew I was going to have to wait, after 30 minutes I stepped outside to get fresh air, IMMEDIATELY I was chased down by someone who was ready to do my nails the second she thought I was ready to walk out when I saw her doing nothing previously.The person who did my nails was super sweet and funny though, that’s the only redeeming quality of this place.

I have been going here for about 8 months. I typically have a wonderful experience. However, this specific lady, Vy, did a PAINFULLY TERRIBLE job with my nails!!! She was very nice and I’m not sure if she could even see well but she was very heavy handed and I had polish all over my hands and around my fingers, some nails were long and some shorter, the gel polish was extremely thick and uneven! She kept removing my cuticles when there wasn’t anymore to remove!!! My fingers are still sore and burn today. The worst experience I’ve ever received from here!!!! I will go back but I refuse to see Vy!

Wife went here for pedicure. Location was clean and service was good. Little expensive for the gel but worth it. To me (husband) unless its free, doing toes is expensive. 😀

I was a walk-in taken right away for a mani/pedi with gel. The chairs are new, very clean and the massages are amazing. They used disposable liners and one use nails kits. I love the variety of color options in the gel polish and it has lasted two weeks as of now. Very happy customer!!

Normally don’t write reviews, it was a great place, there were fast and friendly. I guess I just was confused about the prices that went from one amount to the other. I also paid extra for gel that’s suppose to last longer and after 24 hours started peeling. I don’t even remember if I got a clear coat on top but otherwise I guess it okay.

This is my first time going to this salon and I am very disappointed because I have heard only good things about this salon. My first problem is the service I was sitting in a chair waiting to get my nails done for an hour and a half almost 2 hours and I wanted a very basic design and I was told they did not have the colors that I wanted and then I found out later that they did have the colors that I wanted one of the employees have lied to me because she could not find the colors that I needed. The lady that was doing my nails cut me twice and when another employee came over she tried to cover it up with her hands while rubbing my hand where she had cut it very roughly. All I have To say is that I am very disappointed of my time at this nail salon.

At first I felt super awkward when I came in - the staff seemed like they were annoyed that I came in and then one of the ladies started hysterically laughing for no reason. Other than that first awkwardness, I enjoyed everything else. My technician was really funny, easy to talk to and did a great job on my powder nails. I would definitely recommend.

I went here for the first time with my daughter for a special treat Memorial weekend and could not have had a worse experience. Starting with the massage chair not working- the chair was pulled up so far my feet were crammed in the tub. No one came to work on me until my daughters pedi was halfway done. Then a women worked on my pedi while her boyfriend sat and watched at my feet, which was very awkward. Then the girl and her boyfriend started tag teaming my mani-pedi in the pedi chair. They were rushing to get out the door to go home apparently. They did a poor on my manicure- basically a polish change for the price of a full mani. I know this because I watched another person do my daughter’s. Now 24 hours later my polish is already peeling. Don’t waste your money here!

I really want to give this salon more stars because the quality of work is exceptional for the area. However, the service is terrible. I have been going here for over a year and when I arrive the technicians all seem disgruntled if they have are up in line for the next customer and have to do their job. I have never once been offered a refreshment, even though they do advertise them and I can see them in the fridge. I have been using my Amex there for a year and upon my last visit was rudely told they don’t accept Amex, even though they did the week prior. Overall, I’ll be changing to a salon that cares about their customer service

I have had some not so great experiences here but I went back after they have been open for awhile and worked out any kinks they may have been experiencing for I do not review unless positive, I would rather a private conversation to correct the problem and or provide positive criticism but my last two visits have been amazing, relaxing and professional. Ask for Beryl Luna she is amazing and I will definitely be making this my new favorite spot for nails and more!

I am a local and have been coming to this salon for over a year now. I usually go about every 3-4 weeks. I have never been disappointed!! They always do great work and I never leave unhappy with what I got. Highly recommend for sure.

The first girl who started doing my pedicure was pretty awful and had no idea what she was doing nor how to take off shellac. She really hurt my feet and it was not relaxing. Luckily someone took over for her and did a great job. Would go back but ask for someone else to do them as people around me were getting good pedicures.

Awesome pedicure! Very thorough, had a nice massage and hot rocks as well. Would definitely recommend; prices were comparable to every other salon and it felt like a lot for your money!

My friends said that they had heard good things about Surf City Nail Spa so I decided to give them a try instead of driving to Jacksonville to my favorite spa. The tech that did my nails did not understand English very well, so trying to tell her what I wanted was difficult. She did not smooth out rough spots. The manicure only lasted a couple of days. When she did my pedicure and put oil on my legs she got it on my pants, it did not come out after washing. So its back to Jacksonville for me.

I paid 45 to get a full set of acrylic gel nails, they were pretty and nice but only lasted 9 days and they all started just popping off one by one within a day. Like the glue had a timer or something. Very disappointing, and when I asked for them to fix the issue they told me Id have to wait behind 6 other people. Ive never had a set of nails fall off so early. Very disappointed.

Went here for the first time because my nails were completely messed up from the last place I went to. Nyny did my nails and she did an absolutely amazing job, she was able to do exactly what I asked for and I was extremely happy with the outcome. I highly recommend this place.

Just moved here, walked in with out appt 945. I was taken care of by Kit Kat for SNS (powder). I was very pleased coming from a place in VA that has been doing my nails for last 16 yrs. Charge more then Im use to but thats to be expected I guess. The place is clean, which is most important, Techs are friendly.Overall good expierence. I will be back.

This place stays busy for a reason. I couldnt stop doing a happy dance I loved the way my nails came out!!! My technician was so sweet and respected my comfort and opinions. I felt welcomed and relaxed!

Ive been here several times, I have gel nails & polish. So far a very happy customer! Everyone is nice & my nails always look great!

Went with my husband for mani pedis. The pedicure was fine but my manicure was far different quality than my husbands. I had to soak my hands in cold water while turned sideways I’m the pedicure chair. I only got my nails cut and filed, no oils massage. Worst manicure ever!

Holly was great! She pays close attention to detail and does a manicure to perfection. I will definitely go back!

Visiting from VA but walked right in and they got me seated quickly, massage chairs were amazing and the service was great! The woman who helped me was very nice and did a wonderful job on my pedicure.

My nails always look great and the massage chairs are wonderful. Everyone is friendly and service is prompt.

My nail tech cut too deep into my cuticles which made me bleed. Then the gel lasted 5 days before peeling off. Sore fingers, bad manicure equals me never going going back and recommending no one else goes!

Lynn was absolutely amazing! I had a pedicure and full set of acrylic with gel polish... She was patient and made sure everything was done right and my nails look great!!

Pedicure was amazing. Manicure was disappointing. One huge problem is they book too many clients at once.

Had a great massage today by Timee. I probably spelled her name wrong but anyways, she was very professional and nice. I am suffering from a chronic back pain and I feel great as of this moment. I will definitely go back.

Just got a premium pedicure with my husband on our baby moon and it was perfect.. such great service and the massage was amazing!

Had my granddaughters nails painted and designed for $17 .later that afternoon went to the sound side , the designs came completely off. Only 2 nails stayed safe . A waste of money

Odd vibe, odd service and my gel peeled off in two days. Went back for a refund and they would not refund. Only offered to “fix” my nails (which I didnt have time for) actually made them even worse. Will not be back!

Julie was great and very friendly and attentive. We are moving down next month and this will be my new go-to.

Unfortunately they promised masks and social distancing but it didn’t happen. Same ole story. Appointments mean nothing taking others without an appointment. No surprises here same average nail salon.

Nice people who try hard, but lousy mani/pedis. Had gel mani with spa pedi (upgraded) close to New Years...gel chipped at bottom of nail and tip color wore off after less than a week!!!! Yeeks!

First two pedicures were great. The one I recieved today was embarassingly bad. Very unhappy. It really all depends on who does it I guess.
