Terrible place. Despite the spacious room and comfortable bed, the hotel reeks of cigarette smoke. My neighbor smoked cigarettes all night, making it impossible to sleep well. The mattress (which was good) had cigarette burns, as well as the sheets and blankets.Not only that, but the smoke detectors were also broken, allowing anyone to smoke in the hotel. This is a serious safety hazard and shows the lack of concern for guests well-being. I highly advise against staying at this hotel.I do not intend to come back to this terrible place again.
It smelled really bad when you entered the Lobby. If it hadnt been late, we would have moved to a better hotel. The carpets were worn and stained. The fixtures in our room were broken. No phones in the rooms. The sheets were clean and that is about the best thing I can say. We did not feel like we were safe, the window in our room was cracked open and we tried to wedge it shut. The central heat and air did not work. Not a pleasant stay at all. Wont be back and cannot recommend.
Would not recommend anyone to stay here. Very frustrating because I was traveling with a small child. We walked in & got a key, turned down the hallway and the hallway was flooded with water. Soaked through our shoes. The room was dirty, bathtub was brown. I sat down on the bed & got a huge wave of the strong odor on the sheets. Immediately picked my toddler up and walked out. Had to go find another hotel room late at night.Do yourself a favor and drive 15 more minutes down the road to Pearl, way cleaner there.
We booked the hotel as soon as we arrived in Jackson MS on our way to New Orleans since I was tired of driving. We didnt read reviews until after we booked so before we got to the hotel we thought maybe we made a mistake. The outside exterior was clean and parking lot was fairly empty. Felt kind of sketchy. But got checked in just fine. Clerk was nice. Lobby smelled strongly of weed but I was wondering why I wasnt offered any. LOL Our room was on the first floor not far from the lobby and didnt smell in our room. The room was clean. It was better then expected after reading the reviews. I was expecting a lot of noise but it was actually quiet all night until about 6am then there was some random banging. But overall, decent stay for needing something quick.EDIT: I did have this as 3 ⭐ (just because I was overall neutral about the place) but changed it to 4 ⭐ after using the shower! Even though its your typical hotel bathroom, the water pressure/temperature of the water was some of the better Ive experienced from lower priced hotels. It might seem like a small thing but a nice, long, hot shower can do wonders for your mood!
Do not for your own sake come to this hotel. The floors was wet and when it was time for us to check in they weren’t even done cleaning our rooms! So we had to wait for 30-1hr to enable to be in our rooms. We went to a football game and we came back 2 other people who came with me could not access their room for the LONGEST their door key did not work! It took them to come AFTER we called police to help us after the owner suddenly disappeared and was no where to be found so people could check in and we wanted a refund. I DO NOT recommend here at ALL if you need somewhere cheap to stay please choose another motel than this one for your own sake!!LET ME ADD there was ROACHES and reportedly bed bugs too!
The facility is supposed to be 100% smoke free, yet it smells like someone is having a pot party the minute you walk into the lobby. The TV didn’t work, there was a deck of tarot cards and 2 packs of cigars left in a drawer. The night stand drawer had cigarette ashes inside. The bathroom had a broken tub drain, there was an extra drain plug under the sink with loads of white powder, which looked like Sheetrock powder. So how is this supposed to be sanitized and clean?!!!I’ve stayed in some lower cost places before, but at least they were clean. This was THE nastiest place I’ve ever seen!!! I know I only spent $72 for the night, but it was the worst $72 I’ve ever spent 😡
We had reservations but when I attempted to check in I was bluntly told that the hotel was over-booked and that I would get my money back. It has been a month and a half and I have not received my money back. The clerk did not ask me my name and when I tried to tell him who I was he did not want to know. How would he even know who I was to make sure I received my money back. The lobby reeked of pot and the place did not look very clean. None of that matters since we were not able to stay there anyway. I just want my refund. I should not be charged because your hotel was over-booked.It has been 3 months and all OYO has done is send an apology. They let me reserve a room knowing they were over booked. It was not my mistake. They need to refund all the money I paid them for the reservation they did not honor.
This hotel was the absolute worse place I have ever stayed in!! Nasty doesn’t cover it. Unsafe doesn’t cover it. There was blood on the bathroom wall, our door handle to our room was broke, the latch was broke, the floors has stuff all over them, there was roaches in the bathroom. We slept with our clothes on , on top of the sheet. The only reason we didn’t leave is because I paid before arriving and there wasn’t refunds. It’s so bad that they had to have an arm officer working .
When I went to check in I was giving to keys asked to pick a room which set up red flags. The first room I saw had something in the carpet so went with the second room. I should have looked at the room I chose closer but in Jackson on a college football game night rooms are hard to find so I was stuck. FYI, I didnt know about the game until I got here.This one had a AC that you cant control and it was already getting cold the night we stayed. Along with that there was no cover over the outlet for the AC plug. The blankets were badly stained and had cigarette burns on them. The entry light bulb was gone. The door lock did not work. One of the cabinet door was broken. There is barely any usable light in this room.The bathroom wasnt any better with a hole behind the door You only get two sets of towels and no matt for the tub. The toilet paper holder was was under the sink in peices. Basically I would not recommend this hotel. Water does not get hot enough for a shower, but the sink does.All in all I this is not a 2.5 (2 star on booking.com) star hotel it is more of a 1.5 in my opinion. I was not looking for a 5 star but what you see in the pictures is not what you get at all. I would not recommend this location.Edit: This review was written while we were at the hotel and to add to it the area is not what I would call safe. A man came in as we were checking covered in blood. He had been mugged less than a 1/4 mile away. He was hit over the head for his cellphone. The staff quickly called 911 and gave him a towel to help stop the bleeding. I do hope he is OK.
Hate that I even have to give ONE star. The elevator doesn’t work, so I had tote bags up to the 3rd floor, the first room had electrical problems and we had to move to a new one. THE SECOND ROOM WAS HORRENDOUS! Roaches literally everywhere. Can’t even walk around the room barefoot because there’s dead ones and live ones. Cut the bathroom light on at night and they scattered like it was a dirty kitchen or something. The latch on the door doesn’t work, only one set of towels and there was trash on the floor in the bathroom which tells me they don’t really clean these rooms
The room and bathroom were clean and quiet. The front desk Man however was curt to the point of rudeness. When we asked about towels, he was gazing at the computer screen and said I hear you without looking up He said the towels were in the dryer. This was curious as he wouldnt permit check-in at 2:30. I would think that everything would be ready Icouldnt recommend a stay here because if the attitude.
If I could leave less than one star I would. This place was awful, easily the WORST hotel Ive ever stayed in. Tub was dirty(with RUST), carpet smelled. Lobby and hallway carpets were all stained. Tv Remote was Broken, people were standing right outside the front of the hotel smoking weed, and the receptionist looked like she was high as well. The entirety of the inside of the building also smells like weed. Everyone i saw there looked like they were on drugs. I could not sleep all night because I was uncomfortable and did not feel safe. Do NOT go here if you want anything better than the things I have mentioned.

(THEY HAVE BED BUGS)I gave this hotel from hell a 1 star, when this hotel should be a NEGATIVE 10 star rating!When we arrived we were assigned rooms 202, and 208. 202 had belongings still in them. Every time we were assigned a different room, there was an issue. The towels and linens were dingy and the staff had to go and buy a sheet set for our room. My kids were moved to 215, after inspecting it was ok, now only to find out this morning that this place has BEDBUGS!!! The cleaning staff are a joke, and the front desk staff couldnt care less. I was told that the photos of this place were from when the place opened 10 years ago. Even the staff stated that they wouldnt stay at this hotel calling OYO (On Your Own)Do yourself a favor and avoid this transient-like facility at all cost!!
By far one of the worst place I’ve ever stayed. Hotel was dirty from inside-out. I was afraid to even sit on the bed or sofa couches. Unfortunately for me, every hotel within close proximity was fully booked. I had no choice but to stay. Went to nearby Target and purchased a set of bed sheets and comforter to put over the bed. Could not wait to check out next morning
Roaches welcomed me to my room before I even opened the door, Outlets pulled out of sockets very unsafe. hardly any lightning in the room, Curtains Hanging off the windows, mold on carpet, shower curtain, And curtain on window .... Room smelled of dog poop, toilet and bathroom are in need of a serious remodel, Tile is cracked and lifting, Bed was stained. I would not recommend
I visit Jackson routinely and stay at this hotel for several nights, sometimes for a week or more. I have never had any issues with the room or the staff. They are responsive and helpful. The rooms are clean and their parking area is well lit. The place is quiet and the staff routinely walks the building.
I originally booked the reservation on hotels.com from that mistake and had a slightly higher rating which was 3.4. I mistakenly confused this for 4.3 thats my fault in a slight over site, however upon further research once they actually arrived into Jackson I found on Google that the review for this location was a 2.3. place is a little rundown little beat up banged up I would not suggest this place if youre a person that has young children or women traveling with you. One thing I can say that its positive about the location is that the parking was ample and your close to restaurants and bars and walking distance.
This hotel (OYO Hotel Jackson MS Downtown) isnt in business. I shown up for my reservation yesterday (April 17th, 2022) the front door was locked and I saw an empty, dark reception with furnitures lying around the floor through the locked door.There are also other furnitures and rubbish lying/flying around the communal area with spider web. The car park was empty, there was absolutely no one there; literally a ghost hotel looking.Even my Lyft driver (assumed a local in Jackson, MS) told me its better for me not to stay there, he even waited for few minutes with me just in case if the hotel isnt what we think it is.I, of course called their helpline, which has no real person answering and the auto direct line kept cutting me off.I was absolutely traumatized after what happened and I ended up booking another room at The Westin. While I was doing my check-in at Westin, I mentioned my experience to the front lady (without the name of the hotel) and she quickly guessed it. Apparently there are many people complained about OYO Hotel Jackson MS Downtown, its definitely too way off from what they are showing on the internet!There are many other similar price range choice! Dont let the internet picture fool you. And all the online travel agencies should really know who they are partnering with; its not acceptable to sell a room like this via your website.I didnt even get to see the room, so Im not going to rate/common on it, but you get the idea.
Receptionist was very polite. Told us what they offered and that they dont have coffee pots in the room, and dont have breakfast and offered us the opportunity to check out the rooms before completing our reservation. The room was was one of the cleanest rooms we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in some pricey hotels. Would certainly stay there again..
This motel has bugs in it. It smells like the entire 3rd floor is a grow house for marijuana. You may or may not get shot! Hands down the worst hotel Ive ever stayed in!
Dont go there!!! I booked a room on booking.com and when we arrived at 8 pm the man at the reception made us leave saying no room was available. He didnt want to discuss, he said we should have paid in advance. We had to find something else by ourselves... Then money was taken from my account but fortunately I got a refund. Also there was a strong smell of cigarette in the hallway.
Staying here in between moving at the moment. I have a SERVICE DOG to attend to my seizures which staff was aware when me and my husband first arrived. Wasnt asked for paperwork or anything of the sort… a month later of us staying, my mother inlaw, not me, was told that the dog has to go and the OWNER said so. But on the website AND front desk, it says service dogs are welcome? Trust me , i dont want to be in this musty , drugfilled hotel, any longer than i have to… but still… what the hell?
Blood on the drapes. Blood on the sheets. Blood on the shower curtain. Toilet wouldnt work. WiFi is trash. Their cable is Roku (which means with bad WiFi, it doesnt really work - except at like 3 am because no one else is awake). But the staff are polite. Neighborhood seems safe enough.
This was far the worst stay ever!! ROACH Infestation I talking Roaches everywhere I couldn’t sleep they was falling off the walls and all on The floor. I went to the office and the worker told me they have roaches because people like me/African American people brings roaches to their room lol!! I will be contacting the health Department Monday and getting my Lawyer that’s for the discrimination dummy’s!!! Never again they makes Downtown Jackson look so bad!!
This company is completely horrible. They double charged me for a room and once I contacted them about they stated they would refund me my money. I have been contacting and calling multiple people with the company whom stated I would get a refund. However, on this day, I received any email saying that they weren’t going to return my money. I immediately called the company and they hung up the phone after I snapped. I have been cool and calm up until now. I recommend to find somewhere else to stay then here.
Terrible. Whatever you do please DO NOT keep valuables in the car, hear it all the time my family and I were on our way to Florida, but got tired so decided to stay here, and just was thinking about sleeping, my 5 year old daughter was getting antsy and wanted to be in a bed, as we slept my car got broken into. They stole over $1000’s of our belongings. People are so sickening, and I hope they get whatever is coming to them. The world and people aren’t fair, and surprisingly the cameras were not faced where my car was parked, and the front desk clerk did not hear my car alarm go off. It’s just a real unfortunate event. My mom is so heartbroken. This is heartbreaking, I know what you may think never leave your valuables in the car, but it was late, 1:30 to be exact we were on the road for numerous hours, and were just thinking about sleeping.
OYOs personnel was very friendly, efficient, and polite. The room was above my expectations and definitely larger than I am used to. OYOs location downtown Jackson was very close to my business meeting as well as attractions and museums.
Dirty rooms, sheets, missing smoke detectors, holes in walls and overall bad smelling hotel. From the outside it looks nice but inside guests rooms are disgusting.
The room smelled like mildew. The carpet was wet. The sheets had cigarette burns. It was freezing. The blanket was thin. Everything was dirty. Shower looked like a prison.
Nice rooms for amazing prices. The only two issues were there is absolutely zero amenities and the wifi is terrible. The amish even have better internet service than here.
Our company booked several rooms there.. It was horrible.. Our work trailer got stolen.. The employees said the cameras dont work on the parking lot.. Also employees sell drugs the front door.. Lots of people out front.. Doing burn outs .. Some had guns.. Its was scary.. We stayed two nights.. And lefted. Dear owner.. Your employees are running your bussiness in the ground.. Also plumbing is messed up
This place was disgusting, walked into my room and all I could smell was smoke, the chair was tore up, there were stains all over the bed sheets, look out the back window and all you see is trash all over. Dont waste your money on this hotel.
Was only choice because we had to be some where important and on time thats the only reason we stayed here wont again though sorry need better property manager or owners need to do wayyy better the outside of the build looks better then the inside it has potential but is horrible right now and alot of people stand outside in front of the build loud talking smoking weed its not goo look the parking lot was completely empty

This was the worst stay ever something was literally bitting me the sheets were dirty . Had stains . I even moved to another bed and yet here I am still tossing and turning , because something was bitting me the whole night ! I would not be coming back here ever again I’m totally disappointed .
I finally got a room there the night guy was nice but he dont clean the rooms housekeeper are not there at night my sheets were dirty had some ones hair in the bed with rubber bands so I was given sheets to change my bed the sheets did not fit the bed side table had something sticky on it and food no phone in the room worst cable service ever

Arrived friday with friends for the ccc & hotel smelled like weed very much had it on my clothes when I left roaches crawling on table & blood on walls had some tissue in the bathroom halfway used when we made it no iron or blow dryer when I asked he said no barely got sleep cause I didn’t feel safe never again will I book here !!!!

Stayed here last month and it was pretty ghetto, guy making drug deals in the lobby, employees smoking weed and not wanting to help customers, etc. Now they have hired decent security and the change is immediately obvious.
