Don’t let some bad reviews dissuade you. This place was great. We had dinner here and our server was Cord (I believe that’s what he said) and he was very friendly, attentive and did an excellent job. The drinks were tasty (Longhis lemonade and Mai Tai) and our app and entrees were delicious (shashimi bruschetta, Longhis style fish and clams linguine). The star of the show may have been the Mac Nut pie. Also, the live music and view of the sunset was amazing! All around a great dinner.
One star for location. Superb location. Now the rest.1. Service was horrible. We were seated right away however, we didn’t get waters for 20 minutes. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because there was only one waitress. Not her fault but she had horrible service.2. Food was sub par. When the food finally arrived, almost 60 minutes after we were seated, it was dry and over cooked. My wife and I got eggs Benedict, one spinach and one classic. One of them the eggs where almost well done and both of them the sauce was clumpy. See the video. The kids pancakes were dry. For a hungry kid to complain about pancakes, you know it’s bad.3. The order was wrong. Items were missing, such as one of my kids orange juice. We asked for chocolate chips on the side but that simple request didn’t go through. Finally we returned the Benedict and had to correct the check to remove the extra orange juice. So disappointing. We came here specifically to have a beautiful breakfast and experience at a nice restaurant. I understand it wasn’t fully the waitresses fault. The place is clearly poorly managed. Not what I expect from a beachfront pricy restaurant.
The location is amazing, its next to the beach so you can hear the waves crash and see the sunset as you dine. The ambiance was great too, the tiki torches were lit and each table has a battery operated light so you can see after the sun sets. Our waitress was awesome, she was attentive, fun, and helped out kids navigate the menu. The food was good, we each ordered a different fish and everyone was happy.
We are staring at the Marriott and ordered Chicken Marsala which was not great over cooked and one piece of dry chicken. The cauliflower was terrible The only thing that was good was the pie. Kinda sad. Has breakfast there it was great. Waitress recommended those things. They were awful.
I loved the view here but the food was ok. The presentation is a huge problem for the prices for breakfast. Considering we came at prime time for brunch and there was hardly anyone there...that speaks volumes to the fact that something big is missing. I wish I took a photo of the crab eggs benedict I had. Just slopped on a white plate with nothing to cover the white plate around it. Usually there is a covered plate that presents itself like art for the price. Our friend that day had the usual eggs benedict but it was hard instead of soft. She made the mistake of saying it is usually supposed to be runny so they made the total opposite for her. They made the eggs super runny. She told me it was definitely not what she expected but I reminded her of her exact words. They didnt get what she meant. Now I wonder what they would have done if she said the eggs were supposed to runneth over? Is it that hard to make eggs benedict when its actually the main feature entree on your menu? My friend also said she used to go to Longhis when they used to be on Front St. She said they had the most amazing quiches. Well, moving to the Marriot...they didnt improve unfortunately. I expect the best at Marriot. The chef needs to step up to the plate to make this place survive.
My MIL sends back more dishes than I have seen her eat so when she recommended Longhis I couldn’t wait to try it! The location is spectacular, the staff went above and beyond (very attentive with the kids big plus) and the food exceeded expectations! I loved the variety of appetizers, the steak on the kids menu cooked perfectly, I loved the fresh fish longhi, my husband said he could live off the shrimp, and the desserts I highly recommend you save some room for. We had a large group and got to sample pineapple upside cakes, chocolate cakes, tiramisu, all deliciously memorable. Although for me an expresso martini was the perfect after dinner treat. The cocktails will be something this mamma will miss the most😉. I had to post this review so as many people can enjoy the same experiences we did🌺
We enjoyed our Sunday brunch. Friendly service. Beautiful views and great location for people watching. Try the zucchini spears. Hot and crunchy! Great burger cooked to medium rare perfection. The cheddar cheese oozed out and the pickle slices on the side added a lovely crunch. My husband enjoyed his grilled chicken burger. Large portions.
We had the worst service there August 5th, we waited a very long time for both food & Drinks and people that worked there did not care at the least...the rest of our week was great BUT not this restaurant by far the WORST service we had. Our bill was $500.00 and was a very bad night for us there. Food was OK not great either.
Chicken Picatta, Zucchini Fritta and Macadamia pie were great! Reservation was quick and easy, and service was great! View of beach, surf, and sunset were amazing!
The location is spectacular and our server was great. Imo the food was ok but my wife liked her Shrimp Longhi. Pasta portions are large, so you might want to consider sharing. You gotta manage your expectations as to the food and balance it out with the music, oceanview, and beautiful sceneries. If you are in for food, there are other places nearby that you can go to at a more reasonable price.
Absolutely one of my favorite spot in Maui. The ambiance was so relaxing & chill. You can see the ocean from any table you sit @ and see the sunset. Perfect spot for breakfast , brunch or dinner. Wish they were opened all day but closes from 2-4pm & because we were on a time crunch when I wanted to go back for 2nd’s they were closed! My sister, niece & I ordered Prawns Venice plate & the Shrimp Longhi…cannot tell you which was my favorite but I will say I was longing for more! Highly recommend this spot. You will absolutely enjoy it.
Long time (20+ years) Longhi’s fan. First time at this location as its newer. Not quite the same Longhi’s but still good. The artichoke appetizer is to-die for. Drinks are made well and have healthy pours. Vegetables are generous portions, as well, and prepared well. Outside atmosphere is quite nice but early dinners can be a bit noisy if a lot of kids are walking around on the nearby beach-walk trail.
Excellent food! My wife and I ate at Longhis in Kaanapali on Maui last week, and it was a great experience. The food was exceptional. The view was amazing; right on the beach with views of the surf, sunset and whales! The service was outstanding! Sergio, the manager, came by our table to welcome us and the wait staff was very attentive. Longhis is located in front of the Marriott in Kaanapali. We parked in the free parking garage and walked right up to the restaurant. Very romantic setting, right between the bottom of the Marriott and the beach.
Longhi’s is a wonderful oceanfront Italian restaurant with Hawaiian inspired dishes. I had the Longhi Longhi salad (Caesar-like), the Sicilian cauliflower, and the Prawns Venice. You can catch the sunset right from your table. The restaurant has easy access from any of the resorts on Ka’anapali as it is right of the beach walk.
We were a bit hesitant about going to an Italian restaurant while in Maui but we remember going to their old locations many years ago and really enjoyed it. We were pleasantly surprised, the location at the Marriott was really nice and the food was really good. Most of our party opted for fish when was prepared almost with a Hawaiian/Italian fusion. Everyone. Really enjoyed their dinner and the macadamia nut pie for desert, was the perfect way to end a great dinner.
Best to get a seaside table for the sunset, the food is delicious, calamari big cuts and super tender, Ahi tuna is melt in your mouth with fantastic mushroom butter sauce, seafood hot pot excellent but hard to want if your still warm from the beach, cocktails very good and dessert good if you have room!
I had the Lobster Eggs Benedict. It was the most amazing meal I’ve ever had. I know it seems sensational, the flavors and texture combination, the sweetness from lobster, the fat from yoke and hollandaise, the hint of acidity, the subtle saltiness from seafood, and crisp bread it was an immediate release if dopamine and I gobbled nearly uncontrollably. When fasting this is the meal I dream of, this is the meal I hope to never forget.
Love Longhis, Kaanapali! With Old Lahaina Town Longhis, gone, they have a location now in Marriott in Kaanapali. We had Easter Dinner there on the beach. Atmosphere is great, with nice views of the beach, ocean, and sunset. Food was great, service was fairly good, but because close to beach, there were some kids running around in bathing suits, no shoes to visit with their folks who were also sitting around our table. Not just one instance but a couple tables, had same experience. We were dressed up for a nice Longhis dinner, so did not expect the casual bathing suites. Food was good; service was a bit erratic, likely due to lack of enough help. First time at this location. I would return for the view and cocktails...perhaps dinner also...just not so formal dress next time for us.
The atmosphere was very beautiful and romantic. Cord was an attentive and excellent server. The food was excellent from the bolognese to the fettuccini. I highly recommend!
Atmosphere is terrific and the food was fantastic. Had the Longhi Longhi salad and the fresh fish Longhi style. Everyone in our party enjoyed their dinner. The whole experience was superb!
We ate here for breakfast and it was okay. Our server was amazing but the food was just okay. The menu is a la carte. I ordered the egg white scramble and this is all I got. The portions were pretty small and it is fairly expensive to eat here. The eggs were not seasoned at all. I also ordered their house potatoes and it tasted like they just cut up the potatoes and fried them. They were not seasoned either. Too much money for an okay experience.
Save your time. This place was “never” open. Despite the schedule posted online, we tried to swing by every day for a week but nobody was there except for one day when an elderly woman who worked there rather rudely informed us that they don’t open until “later” but couldn’t really tell us when. I gave it 2 stars because I couldn’t really say anything about food since we never got to actually have any so maybe the food is decent.
My wife and I were visiting Maui and choose to have Saturday breakfast at LONGHIS LAHAINA. This was a mistake! We should have paid attention to its mediocre ratings. We ordered our coffees and a fruit bowl, then on the servers second visit added Eggs and Ham for me, and a Plantation Pancake with extra egg for my wife. Our coffees came right away. But our food seemed to be taking a long time - we noticed other folks who came after us were already being served their breakfasts. We complained to another server, and we quickly got our eggs, ham, and pancakes. But what about our fruit bowl? Our server apologized, and took away my ham and eggs (so it wouldnt get cold). After another long wait, a different server came by and asked - Did you order a fruit bowl? Yes, so she set it on our table. Then, I said: What about my ham and eggs? The server said: I have no idea. Huh? While he went searching for my breakfast, the gentleman in the next table said: This is Ridiculous! I havent even gotten my coffee yet! Well, when all the food was delivered, it was pretty good - but now we had to hurry to make sure we didnt overrun our parking time. Not a pleasant experience at all. The Manager Sean apologized for the poor service, and gave us a 20% discount – then he said: I cant let a Bad Day upset me! (Really??? The Manager doesnt care about the quality of his service??). NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL.
The best Chicken Piccata we have ever had !!My daughter’s Eggplant Parmigiana was excellent as well. They have their own in house baker who’s desserts are amazing including the Focaccia bread … best we’ve ever had. Cocktail menu was delicious.. pain killerOur server was wonderful. Best meal on Hawaii in 2 weeks
First time and the Lahinia location and it is possibly more wonderful than the Wailea location. The mango mojito is to die for!!! We will be recreating this cocktail at home all summer long. The mushrooms in wine and herbs was a delightful way to start off the meal.Chicken parmesan marsala and fresh fish of the day in a white wine and Maui basil reduction, both served with gnocchi. There were no leftovers to be packed up, both entrées were scrumptious!I love a well done chocolate soufflé and this was better than I have had in quite some time.10s! 10s! 10s! across the board!
The legacy of Longhis cooking in both the dishes and the passion left s big imprint on my childhood living with Jim-A-Reno cooking for us at home. Our favorites were Artichoke Longhi and Shrimp Longhi. Truly an epic restaurant with a global impact.
Long-time favorite Italian restaurant moved from Lahaina to Kaanapali with oceanfront tables. Food is the best we had in 2 weeks on Maui. Service by Jim was top notch. Great wine recommendations as well as personable style. We loved the Salmon Mediterranean, Greek salad, and Eggplant Parmesian. The Macadamia Nut pie is fabulous.
After visiting Maui a number of times over the years we decided to try Longhis. The server and host were delightful and the view is amazing but the food was subpar. We had the clam linguini, ahimsa tuna and shrimp marinara, crab cake and monchong. Of all meals - the Greek salad and monchong was palatable but all other dishes lacked flavor. Hopefully it was an off day but of all the other restaurants on the Island Id try any other one.
My wife and I ate at this location for the first time, having eaten for decades at the old Front Street location that has been closed for years. This location has done a nice job of capturing the ambience of the original with the arches and ceiling fans. Pretty sure our waitress did not write down our order (which will mean something to old timers).I was concerned about the bad reviews and realize that post-fire many restaurants could be struggling to get enough staff and/or experienced staff, so did not have great expectations. It was all great. With only 2 of us we couldnt sample all the old Longhis favorites: fettuccini, salad, steak, fish, cinnamon rolls, etc., but I did get the off-menu Longhi Longhi Longhi salad (plenty of anchovies) and the Mac-encrusted fish just as I remembered them. My wife had the fettuccini although the snow peas had become regular peas, and she had the artichoke slathered in melted butter and real parmesan (this was my father-in-laws favorite and he hated green veggies). We finished with the pie - just as good as I remember. The only blast from the past missing was the pizza-bread had been replaced with regular bread.Service was great. Wine excellent.I only graded them down on ambience because it being January, it was dark long before we arrived so no ocean view.Dont believe the bad reviews vis a vis dinner. It was great. You wont be sorry
I dont remember giving anyone a one star ever but this is very easily a one star experience.Started with the server seeming to not know the menu. After ordering our food the server had to come back twice to inform us that the items 2 of us ordered they did not have. After receiving our food the shrimp was cold and rubbery, the mashed potatoes were almost not existent, cold and bland. The steak was properly cooked but a little on the cool side. The manager did come out and help with everything but I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone even with him fixing it being the food and the service is very much not worth it.
Way better than reviews say!! The food was good and it wasn’t slow. Although one person mixed up the dish and just brought out the wrong thing but it was still made, thankfully😊. They were short on staff too. Also the view was really nice and if you’re lucky you might see dolphins in the ocean.
We went here on NYE and the location was super pretty. They were really short staffed and our server was hustling. You could tell she was stressed but she had a sense of humour about it and we enjoyed her service. She did a great job. Food was good, atmosphere was great and overall we had a really positive experience.
Please avoid this restaurant and book somewhere else like Castaway Cafe, Hula Grill or anywhere but Longhi’s. Storm the server was obnoxious!! And the manager’s Josh and Tate are inept. This place tries to come off as a high end eatery but it is not. Food is average and service terrible. Now I know why there’s a fixed 20% gratuity. You’ll also be left wondering what all the other extraneous charges are on your bill! But don’t about those charges because you’ll be told that you will be arrested if you don’t pay those charges. We travel a lot but this pathetic place is forever off our list!! Don’t make a mistake like I did!!! Avoid Longhi’s!!!!!!
AWFUL EXPERIENCE AND AWFUL MANAGEMENT/STAFF. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.Josh and Tate the managers were nasty and Storm the waiter was just as bad. I would suggest firing them. At the end of our meal we were questioning the 4% surcharge on the bill. When we did this we had an awful reaction from the management and staff. They told us to go a grocery store because that’s a cheaper option for us since we “can’t afford” their fees, which is not true. Awful. They told us to get the hell out of their restaurant. Left with extreme discomfort.
Our waitress Gerry was amazing. Very knowledgeable and great personality. She made the night memorable
Food is overpriced and poor quality. Our waiter, Storm, was rude and rushed our dinner service. He complained about getting lemons for our water. While I was eating my entree he interrupted and asked if I wanted dessert. Terrible experience overall.*Also be aware of surcharge of 4% applied to bill.
Cynthia was my server and did an Amazing job. Everything was great but she went above and beyond!
Service was amazing. We were a party of 9 people. We all enjoyed our pain killer drinks, our dinner & our desserts. This is our first time for dinner. We usually do breakfast, but Longhis is currently only open for dinner. This was also our first time at Marriot location. We had always gone to the Front Street location before they closed. We plan on making this a definite spot every visit.
Amazing food! the cauliflower and molokai sweet potato mash is amazing + the freshy drink is so yum
What a wonderful place to have dinner! Our waiter Sergio was so attentive and full of energy…not to mention you get to enjoy a sunset while you dine! The macadamia pie is delicious, definitely save room for dessert! We love Longhis!
Good NY steak but pasta was ordinary. Not much service, and it was slow and not very responsive. Good location that you can watch sun/moon-set.
The location, view and service was great. The ceviche was good. Just dont order the macadamia nut crusted fish. It was soggy and had zero flavor. Our food came out within 5 minutes of ordering. If you are going to present yourself as a $40+ plate dinner place, then cook the food fresh.
A very disappointing experience on an island of good experiences. I made reservations prior to my dinner. Shortly after being seated at a really nice table, the weight staff came up and told us they were going to have to move us. After I showed some discontent. They said that to hold on and never came back. There was a long wait before we finally met our waitress who told us that she just was assigned her table. I believe she took our order correctly but the kitchen screwed up my order. When the check was brought. I asked if any compensation was given and they told me that they dont do that. The worst part was I was on a package to experience a timeshare associated with this restaurant, which only led to an overall poor experience with the timeshare.
Worse food we have ever ordered. The food was so bad that we could not eat most of it. We ordered Bolognese, Fish Tacos, Burgers and Spicy Shrimp Salad. The beer was tolerable but the food was absolutely horrible. The Bolognese was not even edible. The Fish Tacos had no flavor and the Spicy Shrimp Salad had no spice. The Manager is drunk and walked through the Restaurant constantly with a beer in his hand. This place is not recommended! My Husband mentioned the problems to the Manager and he said their Fish Taco recipe was his Father’s and was from 1946 and they are not willing to change their recipe, so, apparently, they have heard these complaints before. And, to make matters worse, they automatically charge you a 20% tip for large parties. You have been warned!
This is an old Lahaina establishment with a wonderful reputation rich with history and quality food. When our friends took us here, it was with the highest praise for the food and the people who, in some cases, have worked here for decades. All the praise was worth it. The bartender, Mike, is not only gifted at his job, but kind and attentive. He made me a Le Grand Smash that was out of this world. The chef, Jonathan, prepared my Hawaiian fish of the day Longhi style. It was ridiculous, with a sauce that you want to lick off the plate. My husband had the Seared Ahi, Longhi style, and was thoroughly impressed. If you happen to be in Lahaina on a Sunday night, make sure you go for dinner at Longhi’s so that you can also listen to the three-piece Jazz band that has frequented the place for years. Being from New York, the dinner and music experience was as good as you could get in the city, if not better. Don’t miss the chance to go here! You’ll fall in love with this Hawaiian classic.
We have been owners and coming to this resort for years. Linghis going in here has been their biggest mistake. Service horrid, not just waiting times but our server didnt know what the fish tasted like or its texture and just lied about it and it was completely wrong. Mean bar tenders only allowed drinks on menu only like it was a limited bar beach hut, not an expensive restaurant. And to top it off, pricing does NOT match food quality. Fish tasted stale and weeks old in the freezer. Can get better on the mainland. Dont waste your hard earned money here. Hula Grill is down the path.... go there instead! Never a bad meal there.
Not just for tourists...the locals love it too! First off, I am a tourist, but we bought at the Marriott Maui Ocean Club in 2003 and have had the incredible opportunity to spend 3-6 weeks on Maui each year. Sometimes with family (our girls grew up here!), sometimes with friends, sometimes both...and sometimes just the two of us. The location has been home to several other restaurant brands since we bought. The one thing they all had in common was that they were tourist locations. Which is fine. What I love about Longhis is that it has a loyal local following due to their other locations on the island over the years. The food and drink are spot on and we always meet so many people from near (locals) and far when we spend time here. Weve had breakfasts, lunches, dinners, bar service, etc. here. The bar team (Jeff, Tim, Conrad, Jeremey, etc.) is exceptional and always treat us and our guest great. The views are some of the best on Kaanapali Beach. Come check out Longhis...it has been a great addition to our home away from home!
We had a lovely dinner with my daughter and her boyfriend! We ate outside looking at the ocean and the beautiful sunset! The food was excellent! But what made our experience even better was the kind and friendly waitress we had!! Shout to Brie she was so sweet and hospitable!! Definitely would go back!! June (Illinois)
Beautiful location along Kaanapali Beach.Love having dinner here during sunset.Every plate is perfectly prepared every time. Never disappointed!Seated immediately with a reservation but they are very accommodating to walk-ins.Our most expensive meals were here during our visit in February 2023 but most restaurants on Maui are very expensive and this is not the most expensive on the island.Longhis is a must for a decadent sunset dinner with dessert and coffee along Kaanapali Beach.Totally worth it!
Pricey.. I ordered the prawns which I thought would come in a half shell. Basically 5 regular sized shrimp in a gravy for $40.00. We asked to split a salad. He brought out 1 plate and told us to split it. Wife ordered a $13.00 glass of wine and got a $20.00 glass instead (which we paid for). Also, they are the only restaurant that has a 4% service charge on there bill. Nice setting but will not go back.
We ate here on a Sunday night when it down poured rain, and they were willing to seat us even though we didn’t have a reservation and they were moving all outdoor reservations inside. This went to show they were accommodating and willing to work with us. The food was good and we are enjoyed the service. We would come back more for lunch then dinner because dinner was more expensive than other restaurants along kaanapali. Overall great views, good service, and food was good, just a little pricey.
Lovely area and friendly staff. The food was seriously unimpressive and overpriced. Ill talking 60 bucks for a small steak and the chef didnt know the difference between medium rare and well done. Or the ahi tuna being over salted, while the rice side had no salt. Basically, no quality control. Idk what the head chef is doing back there but they aint taste testing the food.It wouldnt be terrible if paid a third of the price for this at some chain restaurant akin to Chilis, bland and seemingly prepared by amateurs. But a place that charges $40 for an eggplant parm and delivers that kind of quality is basically taking advantage of a captive audience, like people dropping $22 for a beer at a baseball game. The place has potential, but bottom line until they get some quality control and a leader who knows what good food tastes like, youre gonna leave unsatisfied and feeling fleeced.
Only Two Stars... because the evening staff was better. Day staff was HORRIBLE. We left before placing our orders because server never addressed us appropriately and took longer than she shouldve to come and take our orders. As if she didnt want to serve us. SO WE LEFT. Sigh. We went back for dinner because the night crowd and staff seemed more relaxed and accepting. Food was good, but not spectacular. All pricing on the island are similar. Overall, no, I do not recommend.
The view and ambience allows the restaurant to skate by on the rest of the experience and still have business. In my opinion, its a cynical way to run a restaurant, especially considering how many chefs would give their left arm for the opportunity to create a phenomenal dining experience that lives up to the setting.
Great atmosphere, my wife and I stopped by for a after dinner drink and had a great experience. The bartenders are fantastic (Jeff and Tom), nicest guys we’ve met in Maui. Jeff was so patient and helpful to a family who struggled with English and the menu and helped them pick something they would like (even offered to do something off menu). Great location, atmosphere and very nice people..
Longhi’s was a huge disappointment ! We’ve eaten here before and loved it, but today was very much below our expectations. Our server was terrible, NO interaction except to take our order…after that we never saw her again (no water refills, no check back to see how our food was), and we finally walked up and asked the hostess if we could pay her since our server was nowhere to be found after a long wait with empty plates. The food was OK, the view is amazing, but the whole experience was terrible. The restaurant was practically empty, now I know why.
The location is the only saving grace to this restaurant. The food took about an hour ti come out and when it did it was cold and dry. Despite being maybe 1 of 4 tables sat within the restaurant the service was still terrible and slow. We were having an amazing weekend of food leading up to this disaster of a meal. Wouldn’t dine again, I hope you don’t either. Save yourself the stomach issues.
This was a major disappointment. It was not a busy night. I am also aware that all industries have been hard hit with lack of workers (including my industry that is also understaffed). That being said, we were more than patient that the main courses were delayed over 45 minutes after the appetizers were served. When the main courses finally arrived, only 4 of the 5 dishes had come out. My dish wasnt even ready. I asked the served to cancel my meal altogether. To his credit, he offered to have my food comped and sent to go. That wasnt exactly feasible as we are not local so there was no way that seared ahi tuna was even going to be decent getting back to the hotel. Not to mention, we were out with friends which would have made it awkward to have everyone wait AND watch me eat my meal as they are all done eating. The kitchen tried to comp food due to the delay. If they were sincere in their gesture, something other thank a cooked artichoke would have made more meaning. The bill arrived, and it was not correct. The server tried correct the mistake. A few guests decided on dessert. Despite my dish getting cancelled and all of our dishes significantly delayed, there was not even an offer to comp even one dessert. The three star reviews all make sense looking at this now.To our servers credit, he had tried. And yes the kitchen was at fault. But there was not even any warning there was a significant delay in the meals.Skip this overpriced, slow serving restaurant, and pick from the remaining restaurants in the area that cost less but with much better service overall.
I sat at the bar to eat a dinner at what I thought was a 5 star restaurant. Ate my dinner and my food was good. Then when I was having my desert a lady sat at the bar 1 seat own from me and then her dog jumped up on the chair right next to me. All the bartenders welcomed this dog as if it was a normal client. I imediently left and was astounded that they allowed a dog to sit on a chair at the bar. This is a 2 star restaurant in my opinion. Food is good but not when you have to share it with a dog. I will never go back here again!!! So sad for Maui Marriott.
We dined at the bar which gave us a great view of the ocean. The bartenders were top notch and Tim makes the best Old Fashioned on the island, at least in my experience.
Excellent service from a young man on the job for 4 months. Very eager to please. The food was excellent & great atmosphere next to the ocean. The chocolate cake dessert could easily be served for 8 people, be warned, but they do provide take home containers 🤗
Beware! This restaurant is not associated with the Marriott at all. While 95% of our experience was excellent (both food and service), our meal was overshadowed by the complete lack of hospitality radiating from the host, Sally. We were met with ridicule, hostility, and coldness when we arrived pre-dinner without a reservation (god forbid on a slow Thursday). She begrudgingly walked us to the most undesirable tables and was continually rude when we wanted a better table for our last dinner in Maui. This was the most I felt like I was back at home in LA since starting my vacation in Maui (in the worst way possible). We regret ending our vacation here!
Yummy food , excellent service & can’t beat the views !
Listen, I do not give 1 star reviews, personally I would say you guys deserve a 0 but it’s not an option and your wait staff saved you. They were absolutely great. But man was the food horrible. I felt like I was eating at a hospital or nursing home with a restricted diet. You guys have absolutely no seasoning in your food. I really hope you guys can get a new chef in there or they just read the reviews and make adjustments. Your wait staff deserves better.
Come ONLY for the convenience of being close to the area or your Hotel. Very average food, and average service. Our family came to Longhis for both breakfast and dinner, both were mostly a disappointment.DINNER: Dinner is usually more packed than breakfast, as its the only sit-down restaurant on the Marriot property, even though this place is NOT part of the hotel (cant do room charges here). The food for dinner was just ok, portions were just OK, not great. I ordered a Chicken Piccata, although taste-wise it was ok, it only came with one chicken breast (usually most places in the US give you at least 2 chicken breasts when ordering Piccata). Rest of dinner was just OK. Price is too high compared to the quality of the food/service. Yes, Hawaii is obviously expensive everywhere, so if youre already going to spend so much money, go elsewhere..BREAKFAST: Place had less than 25% of tables used, and maybe the average/below average food quality, average service, and overall not so great place is likely the reason people dont want to come here for breakfast... plus, yes, its too expensive considering the low value for your money here.We came with 2 kids (3 year old and 9 month old), and ordered 2 boiled eggs for one of our kids, and got 2 poached eggs (Yes, we were warned by our server they dont do boiled eggs, but she said shell request them anyway). She brought poached eggs, instead of saying No, they cant do them. But why would a $$$ (3 dollar sign restaurant) not have a chef who can do 2 boiled eggs. Not so hard... is it? Additionally, once we said our girl obviously didnt want the poached eggs, we asked for 2 scrambled eggs (which came quick, and as expected). We were charged $12 for each set of 2 eggs ($24 total), which is a total crazy prize for a side of a total of 4 eggs (half not delivered as ordered, nor told it cant be done once the server asked). We were hoping theyd only charge for 1 of the 2 sets of eggs due to their bad service.. but not the case.Their brewed coffee also tastes pretty bad. So dont wasted your time or money here... unless again, its just convenient to sit here so you dont go to far from the MarriotHey, at least the eggs benedicts were good.Paid $150+tip ($170+) for breakfast for 4 adults and 2 children, ridiculous...
Love the vibe, the atmosphere, the service, food, and drinks. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo type of pasta. It was as expected. The bar tender suggested me a good beer based on my favorite one and it was really good. Not many food options though. But still, Id love to try different things in here.
Wonderful experience. Great seats with amazing view of the ocean. Staff was prompt and made the best suggestions without being pushy. The POG mimosa was best drink I’ve had on the island. We had eggs Benedict and home fries. Price was perfect. So glad we ate there.
Absolutely incredible restaurant in Lahaina with breathtaking views right on Kaanapali. Had dinner at sunset - macadamia crusted mahi mahi which was fantastic along with the unbelievably delicious purple sweet potatoes! Do not leave without dessert - order the chocolate tower which is quite possibly the best tasting thing I’ve ever had. So good I came back for breakfast and had the cinnamon roll which was just wow….next time I’m in Maui I’ll make sure to come back!!
High expectations, modest results. Had dinner at Longhis 22 years ago on our honeymoon. It was one our favorite dinners that week. Returned last night with our two kids(young adults) and was not overwhelmed with anything. It took about 15 minutes after we were seated for our waiter to come by. My drink(s) were light on gin but heavy on olive juice. Although I would give the food 4 stars, because of the service I am giving the lower overall score.
Very subpar! We’ve had great meals in Maui all week, but unfortunately we were disappointed with this place. No real flavour is any of the dishes we had. And for the price, I would expect something better! The service was good tho and so was the view. But I would not recommend eating here.
Good food, especially enjoyed the chocolate dessert and the chicken Marsala. Was a little disappointed the $20 crab cake was literally 1 cake, and the zucchini frittata was just fried zucchini spears but the marinara sauce was clearly fresh, maybe homemade. Service was wonderful. A bit pricey but pretty on par with the other beachside restaurants. Will be returning
We ate here a few times because it was close to our resort. The drinks were SOO sweet... I consistently had to water them down. The bartenders were horrible at servicing the bar - we had to basically yell at them to get another drink. The food was pretty good but overpriced for what you got. Would not recommend
Very disapointed, we had been going to Longhis for years in Lahaina, it was always a favorite of ours. Went on day one to have drinks and appetizers. Ahi Carpacio and ceviche were both terrible. Service at bar okay, drinks good. Went back 2 days later for dinner hoping first day were just our own bad choices but went to bar, sat 10 minutes and never got served or talked to by bartenders. Asked for table, place was not full. We were seated by kitchen in a booth and was told this was all we could get based on servers when I asked if this was best we could do.. Our waiter was doing his best but overwhelmed it seemed. Ordered Filet Mignon at 65.00 and it was cold and overcooked. Also had their well known dish Shrimp Longhi and it can drowned in sauce, shrimp was good. Also long time for drinks and had to ask for bread. Overall sad experience, we are owners ay Marriott and were hoping it would be our go to place. Miss the old Longhis.
We went last night for dinner and the staff was super nice. My husband got the chicken marsala with mashed potatoes. He was happy, said the chicken was perfectly cooked but not much marsala taste. I got the shrimp longhi and although the shrimp was delicious, but it just came with a piece of bread which was already soaked through so it was soggy. I would never go back there for that dish. For the $$ there should have been something other than a piece of soggy bread. But what redeemed them was their pineapple upside down cake. It was the best one weve had so far. That is the only reason I give it a 3 instead of 2. The drinks were pretty good too. O
I don’t know why the reviews are not great. Our experience with a party of 8 was wonderful. Everyone’s food was delicious. Our server was attentive and had a helper who was great too. We had a fun evening with lots of laughs and yummy food!
Drinks were good but the service was so weird. We ordered drinks and after about 15 minutes the waitress brought us one drink and then awkwardly said while walking away that the bartender was really busy but would be making the other drink next. (There was only one other couple there). We waited another 10 minutes, flagged the waitress again, and she apologized that the bartender had disappeared and that she would’ve made the drink herself but didn’t know how. Eventually the drink showed up. A very strange place.
We only read the reviews after we ate there, and they are very right about the bland food. We were four, and both people who ordered seafood( mahi-mahi fish Longi’s style and clams linguini) were sick the night afterwards. One other person ordered the Longi’s style steak, and he said it was very good. The kid ordered the fettuccini Alfredo’s and was very happy about it too. The two stars we gave were for the waiter Nick, who provided a great service, and the beautiful sunset view. Unfortunately, for the 275$ we paid, we should have not had to spend the night on the toilet.
Hostess never spoke to us. Just handed the menus to someone to seat us. Not much warmth in that person either. Server/waitress was very nice and helpful. BUT, we went for the veal and they were out. Rigatoni didn’t have much meat. Prawns were good.Won’t come back in February when we’re here.
We were in Maui at the resort back in December 2022. This is a good restaurant, we especially enjoyed sitting and eating at the bar. Tim is the best bartender and so attentive. When we come back to Maui we will definitely come back to this place and really hope Tim is still around.
I gave this place a 2 star only because of the wonderful view of Ka-anapali beach. and we really understand its not easy working short handed and also its been hard for businesses to find workers, so heres our story. We arrived around 1PM and a nice hostess greeted us with an aloha and walked to a very visible table with a great view so far so good, then after 10 minutes neither waiter or waitress came over to wait on us even though there were only two other tables occupied with 6 people total, when the hostess came back to ask how we were doing? we said fine though we were not waited on yet, she said sorry and would see what up, then another 10 minutes went by while neither waitress or waiter even looked our way when they breezed past,we dont know what was going on and why no one waited on us but I swear we had smiles on our faces, though maybe a bit confused, the whole time because of the great view and atmosphere of the area, so we just got up and left even though we were thirsty and hungry.
Eat at your risk! After spending 2 weeks on Maui, my husband and I (as well as a family of 4 traveling with us), we can honestly say that we have had phenomenal meals every day no matter the time of day or place (food truck, roadside stand, formal dining, beachside, bars, family friendly, etc)...until we tried Longis!READ OTHER REVIEWS...from a mediocre server (an older gentleman) with a snobby attitude to very bland and overall poor tasting food, when you throw in high prices (we were perfectly happy with $35-60 dishes as long as the quality was there)..it was a very subpar experience that left all of us more than a little annoyed and disappointed.Spend your well earned money elsewhere at one of the many other fine dining experiences that Maui has to offer!
Jake is my son I’m actually doing the review. Do not eat at Longhi’s it’s overpriced and horrible food. The calamari was non existent and only breading. Super dry. We ordered a New York steak and it was flat and a dead shoe. Do not order it. The cost is $60. The GM made it right and covered the cost of the steak. Thank goodness for that!! They need new chefs what an embarrassment for Longhi’s
Very disappointed, my friends and I went to dinner at sunset, the view was great but that was about the only thing that was enjoyable. Now just to let you know that I have been a chef for over 25 years. We ordered the artichoke appetizer and was very let down. It only had about a dozen leaves and was covered in a Parmesan sauce that was overwhelming and not very visually appealing. The table next to us received their meals and the stench coming from the fish was sickening. As they say Never order fish on Tuesday. We ordered the surf and turf. Medium rare, this steak was blue in the middle, far from medium rare, 3 pencil sized asparagus that were under cooked and over-whippec mash potatoes that ran through the fork, 3 large SHRIMP, not prawns. If youre going to charge $80 for a mei, make it worth it.
Excellent fish of the day, shrimp pasta and artichoke appetizer! We’ve eaten here multiple times and always love Longhi’s!
I have to preface this by saying that our waitress, who was totally overworked, was a doll. Otherwise our experience was bonkers. Right when we got there waitstaff spilled an entire glass of water directly onto my 90 year old grandma and walked away without a word. Manager came out while she was in the bathroom (for an hour) drying off and left her a free fruity cocktail. That was it. Pretty low bar managerial call. Took about an hour and a half to have our order taken as well. Good food and super cute setting. Maybe it just wasn’t our night. Or my grandma’s at least.
Great location, terrible ahi tuna dinner. Absolutely terrible. Completely unsatisfied. Never going back.
We decided to eat at the kanapali location despite bad reviews. We should have listened to them. This place is AWFUL!! The calamari had absolutely no flavor. We hardly ate it and when the waitress asked if we didn’t like it and we told her it was bad all she said oh okay thanks for telling me and didn’t even comp it. Wow. I got the fettuccine and added shrimp. It came out to $47 and the noodles were hard. The Alfredo out of a can was better than this place. We spent $150 for two of us and left extremely unhappy. Don’t go here! Not impressed.
We each enjoyed a mimosa and had the classic eggs Benedict this morning - they were outstanding. And afterwards decided to order their house made cinnamon roll to share - also outstanding! Our server was attentive and we enjoyed the ocean side peaceful environment. And since breakfast was so good, we came back tonight for dinner without reservations. We were initially seated in a booth inside but Robin, our server, knew we desired an outside table - she worked her magic and moved us. The Longhi salad (Caesar) was excellent. I had the Longhi fish special and my husband had chicken parm - both excellent. Robin was an attentive and excellent server - we thoroughly enjoyed our last evening in Maui.
The food was very good but the service was aweful! So unprofessional! The waitress was sweating profusely and clunking all the cups and dishes down on our table. When she picked up the appetizer dishes to clear them away, she spilled the dishes and the sauces all over my new designer bag and inside it as well! Then another waiter came by the clear away more dishes, she did the same thing and cleared them over my husband’s lap, dripping the food right on his lap!I said you can’t clear dishes that way, you have to do it on the side, not directly over clients! Who hired and trains the staff there??The worst service ever!
Listen to the negative reviews. They are correct. Worse meal of all of the places we ate at in our seven days here. We have a hard time deciding which was best but deciding which was the worse was easy. A piece of veal with canned pasta sauce and mozzarella cheese on top is not Veal Parmesan. Then if you want pasta with you Veal Parmesan or whatever it might be called get ready to spend $8.00 for .10 cents worth of plain spaghetti. If they have a chef, which I have a hard time believing they do, he needs to turn in his chefs coat.
Yummy banana nut pancakes. Can’t beat the view. Service slow.Walked up to places to go order at 2:45pm we were rudely turned away by a server. Need some management to better manage the service here. That is lacking
We booked a reservation for 4 people through an app for 8:30PM. On the way to the restaurant (8 min away and right on time) we noticed that both navigators show the restaurant closes at that time - 8:30. I decided to call and ask them. The host (I think her name was Sally) for some reason asked how far we are from the restaurant and told us not to come because they are getting closed. When I asked her how come we were able to book that time, she answered that the reservation didn’t go through. Later on the restaurant put a “No-show” for us on the app and I had to explain our situation to the app administration so it wouldn’t effect my rating. I would put minus stars if I could.
Well, another below average meal on Maui with high prices. We were a large table, I get it, can be complicated to serve. Im only going to talk about our meals. They consisted of the kula greens salad and the $65 filet mignon longhi. For starters, the server completely forgot my husbands salad. No apology, in fact he seemed nonplussed by it. No effort to get him one when mine was served. But I told my husband he wasnt missing anything but I was; the honey-scallion vinaigrette. No dressing whatsoever. Then came the filets, which had cut up fresh basil on it, but no butter. The only question I had at that point was: why? It was the strangest thing. A word about the potatoes. Obviously someone in the kitchen used the same serving spoon on my potatoes that was used on a fish dish, because not only did my potatoes reek of fish, they tasted like fish! Once again, food is an afterthought here, much like most of the restaurants we ate at while on Maui. This is a beachside restaurant, so youre going to get hosed here....
Seared Ahi. Flavors were all over the map and didnt flow together at all. Sauce was too tangy and overpowering. Underseasoned Ahi and not seared whatsoever. Great service. Awesome spot. Food wasnt nearly worth the price.
We were very excited to see Longhis at Kaanapali after Wailea and Lahaina closed. My favorite was fish and eggs, no longer on the brunch menu or any fresh catch at breakfast. What should have been an awesome breakfast of football, Bloody Mary and ocean view was spoiled by a surly bartender. Other friendly patrons were SD Padres fans tried to engage the bartender with friendly chat but Mr Grumpy all but ruined the atmosphere saying out of their earshot how they wouldn’t like him. He wasn’t friendly or likable.Very sorry we tried breakfast for $79, not worth it.Both the female servers were delightful as was his food server.Longhis needs a bartender with a personality. We won’t return.
This place was an absolute delight! Beachfront, beautiful lighting and sunset. Bolognese was fantastic. Will be a Maui stop for sure. Our waiter, Ivan, was very professional and personal making the evening a night to remember!
So sad. Used to love this place when it was in Lahaina. The food has gone way down hill. Not good at all. Also it has no signage. Apparently the Marriott wont allow it. Still its a nice location and you get free parking in the garage although no one told us that. We heard it from an employee of the hotel. I know its Maui and prices are high but to pay $226 and my wife doesnt drink. What a rip off!!!
Hard to go wrong with an evening dinner in an open air restaurant on the beach. Atmosphere was great, food was great and everyone was very kind. Felt a bit short staffed during the busy hours, but thats seems to be a common problem everywhere.
I was very surprised by how mediocre the food was at this place. The location is top notch with a beautiful view, the service was half way decent, but the food was a huge letdown and totally lackluster. The manager I dealt with seemed more concerned with making a buck with their overpriced, lackluster menu to a one time customer than providing quality food and winning repeat business. No worries, there is far better competition close by.
We were staying on property and have eaten at the Oahu site so we thought we’d try it again. First off, the hostess was about as nice as a scorpion and seemed bothered when we asked for clarification on where the booth was that we’d be sitting. She got indignant and in a mean time told us that was not the bar!!! WTH? Food way over priced and seriously mediocre. The wait staff was friendly and helpful.
My fiancé and I couldn’t find a good place to eat and celebrate our engagement and Nick totally turned it around. Best server we have ever had and we are so thankful for his thoughtfulness and amazing service. Thank you :)
We loved it!! Food wonderful & service was great!! Dont listen to people complaining about waiting!! The waits not that bad & EVERY good restaurant has a wait time. Its.funny reading some of these reviews, as we found prices similar to most good places & if u want fast food, you should go to Burger King!! Youre on a beautiful island in a lovely restaurant!! Life is good!! If u have reservations, you should be fine!! Enjoy.
LOVED dinner last night at Longhi’s Maui! Everything we ate for dinner was delicious and the very best Tiramisu for dessert! We had Chicken piccata, Chicken Marsala, tried for Veal Marsala (but no Veal, changed to chicken) and Shrimp Venice. Robin was gracious and knew about the dishes. She knew we wanted to share one of ea of the desserts at the end and made sure we got one of ea even as they were close to being gone. It was a great last “fancy-casual” dinner meal in Maui after a wonderful week.
Lets just say theres a reason all of their other locations have closed... And no, it wasnt because of COVID. I have been eating at Longhis for years. When I was a kid, it was our favorite place to go. Over the years, it has gotten awful. Now, you couldnt pay me to eat at Longhis. Poor service and bland tasting food. Save your money and go somewhere else.
The most beautiful ocean front view at Longhis on Kaanapoli Beach MauiThe food was amazing fabulous crazy good . The service 5 stars on one of the Top restaurants in the world.
3 in our party:Chicken parm was goodLinguine with clams was goodPrawns Venice - sauce was good but the prawns were far from fresh. They were rubbery and tasted kinda gross; I could barely swallow them.Service was so-so. Our server was friendly but would ask the same questions twice, letting us know she wasnt really listening to the answers. When our food came, we were served one anothers meals - lack of attention to detail. Will not return.
Great Restaurant with Very helpful and friendly staff!! Great View of the water, with an open concept so you can feel the cool breeze off the water!! Amazing food!! We got appetizers, 4 different meals and dessert and they were all delicious!!! We would definitely recommend it and we will definitely return!
The food was average and so was the service. Nothing to write home about. I would not go back because there are so many other options in the area. I am sure they would be fine for lunch. I had dinner there.
If I was able to genuinely give this place 0 stars, I would. let me start off by saying our server had no idea what she was doing at all (i understand we all have our days but this was beyond that) - messed up all of our drink orders, as for the food, all of our pasta was undercooked and crunchy. my bestfriend got food posioning right after eating her (having buttered noodles that were apparently not freshly made) and at the end for leftovers the server I LITERALLY KID YOU NOT scraped the food into the box with her hands. DO NOT GO HERE
Had another great stay at our Marriott Ocean Club on Kannapali Beach this week. Unfortunately Longhi’s has taken over the Bar and grill and tried to turn this beautiful space into an expensive fine dining restaurant. The Management needs to understand it customers at this resort. Lots of families and groups who just want to go have a drink and have some appetizers! They don’t have a Happy Hour, no music! Very formal and extremely expensive! $$$$$… They could be serving food and offering Servive to folks at the pool areas around them but don’t. They could be killing it with $5.00 beer and a $12.00 burger but they don’t! They could have drink specials and good deals on appetizers but they don’t. Every time I walked by during peak times there were only a few tables full. Not going to make it at this location and I’m sure that why they failed in Lahina! To bad!
Our “server” was the main bartender even though we sat in a booth. Appeared to have wait staff but not for us. Service was sketchy, inconsistent. Food was mediocre at best and way overpriced.Disappointed.
I very rarely give 1 star but they deserve it. It was cafeteria food at $167.00 for 2 people. Why? The Longhi signature fish entree was literally a ice cream formed scooped of sticky rice from a cooker with no sauce ( not kidding) the fish was sauteed with no sauce and had 3 cherry tomatoes on it NO FLAVOR! I felt like I was eating in a high school cafeteria that offered fish for the day. And certainly did not warrant $45.00 per entree. The Lohnghi salad was ok though and the waitress was great at explaining these amazing dishes that didnt deliver. My husband had the surf and turf and the steak was bland with some kind of parsley and runny sauce with no flavor. Are they catering to older people who cant have salt??? Felt like rest home food....After eating at Kimos, Hula Grill, Lahina Grill this felt quite frankly like cafeteria food with no flavor or zest and creativity. I got more from Joeys fish shake in flavor texture and sauces at far better prices in the whalers villiage..... They need a new chef and better communication. I was charged $50.00 for a glass of presecco !!! The bar tender charged me for a bottle rather an glass...BIG OOPS!!! NOT IMPRESSED .....
The views from the restaurant are fabulous for watching the sunset. Our server was very attentive to our needs but the food was average. Everything on the menu was way over priced for pasta dishes.
The Service was excellent, but unfortunately the Bolognese was very undercooked and chewy. My Italian mother would give it an F grade. Other menu items we ordered were average. So Im being generous with 2 stars for an overpriced, under performed meal.
Jerry was a fantastic server.Kind, friendly and helpful. Dinner was great and the setting was nice. Not quite the same as the old location BUT worth the visit!
Greeter was rude, followed by the seater that didn’t speak. Went for veal and the were out of all veal menu items. Waiter was the high point but replacement menu meal, rigatoni was missing meat. Prawns were good/not great. Recommend stay away!
This is my favorite restaurant in Lahaina, probably Maui, we have been coming here for years! I am probably biased because I haven’t been anywhere else that serves artichoke! Love the brunch too, dinner on the top floor with the views is spectacular, the jalapeño bread served at dinner is awesome. Service is always pleasant, they’re busy sometimes but, I can entertain myself! Even better is the valet parking.
First thing you notice when walking in is Dirty tables and plates. Also all the servers are wearing really dirty uniforms. Thats really gross and disgusting as Servers are the face of restaurant. No only that but the server that we had no idea about the menu.We went a group of 6 people at this restaurant and none of our plates were tasty or the way they were described by the server! Plates are really small and if you eat there youll leave most likely hungry for sure. And the Price is totally way to high! Does not worth even half of it.I would never go there ago!
Wife and I were celebrating 50 + years...Stopped by three different times to alert the staff.....ok good to know.Waiter was bad.....lowered head to almost in my face(no mask)to ask about our order. We ordered a wine and cocktail. comes back withwine and ask me again what I had ordered! Wife ordered a red wine to go with her veal...time to order dinner...out of veal. Fish was Ok.No acknowledgement of special event. Owner acted like he couldcare LESS.Not eating here again!
The food, the people, the view and everything was great!Love it!
If you want dinner with a beautiful view of the sunset this is the place to go! The food and service was excellent. My son wanted chicken strips with ranch. Unfortunately they do not have ranch but our waiter, Kevin, went across the street to another restaurant and got some for us. Hows that for service!
Have had dinner at the closed Longhis in Lahaina before so we tried the new location at the Maui Vacation club. Our server Mr. M gave us excellent service at our late dinning hour. Regrettably, the bill came and there was a charge for an item that we did not order. Mr. M stated he must have added to ours by mistake. Which is possible. Unfortunately, we had spoken with the only other table, and they did not order the item in question. In speaking with Mr. M, I asked for the Manager, and he stated there was no reason to involve the Manager. He came back with the correct check and shortly the Manager came by to state there was an honest mistake. I told her the only other table left did not order the item. She stated it could have been from some other table. No sorry for the issue, hope to see you again. They both came across as we just dont care.
Very nice quiet place for dinner. Great food and service.
$40.00 for Veal Picatta with nothing else. Resident for over 35 years and ordered it to take out. Not even a piece of bread and it was awful! Your breakfasts are great, but your dinners are not worth what you charge. Bob would be horrified at what is happening to your restaurant.
Got lazy to try hotel food. Steak is not bad. Calamari is so salty. Requested Greek salad without cheese, served with cheesy dressing. Will not consider going back with other options around.
The food was so disappointing! The zucchini wasnt cooked. The ahi was a pile of mush. The bollengnese was chunky. There is a cord between the dining room and the rest rooms. Guest are expected to know to unlatch it to pass into the hallway. Service was fine. They were out of cabernet sauvignon by the glass and had only 3 red wines to choose from. I wont be returning.
Food not good, wasnt cooked properly either. Drinks were oddly not what theyre supposed to taste like. Staff overworked.
Fantastic Food and Service!Probably my wife and I favorite restaurant we ate at so far on our trip. The Sliced Strip steak was the best steak Ive had in a long time.Definitely would recommend this place and the seating area upstairs is nice.
We ate at the longhis in Kaanapali. The food was just ok. Nothing came with any sides and for the prices we were shocked. Chicken mediterranean was literally chicken - no vegetables - no pasta. We had to order a side of pasta which was $9. The pasta was hard, not al dente, hard. Some pieces were actually crunchy. Very disappointing. Not worth the prices.
Longhis Is Back!! For decades Longhis was one of the best restaurants on Maui...and its back to the delicious menu and food! We ate there 5 out of 9 nights and every night was the best. Artichoke, Veal Piccata, Longhi Salad...cant be beat. Gerry is THE best server!!
We had a pretty bad experience. Tickets were lost, drinks took forever, timing was weird. Our server was apologetic, and it wasnt entirely his fault. The issues seemed deeper than one server having a bad day. The food was good, but the service was so bad that it hardly mattered. Didnt live up to the beautiful location or reputation.
By far the best place on Maui so far. We were not treated like a 1 and done client. Try the Black and white cake made by the owners wife. Nice views and tvs to enjoy your meal. Nice job.
I called ahead for a reservation of a downstairs table by the window, and we were greeted and seated relatively quickly at the reserved time. Our waiter was wonderful (A), and his service was rapid and went above and beyond. We had an excellent steamed artichoke as an appetizer, and delicious jalapeño and cheese bread. The pizza crust is amazing, as is the sauce. I also highly recommend the Greek salad--pure magic. No one should leave without having their Mai tais, which are blissful. Overall good food, great Mai tais, and excellent service.
Worst place to eat on Maui. Service was terrible, we got the bill before our food was finished, no ask for dessert, or how was your meal. Just a bill and get out. Hostess was rude to begin with, waitress never once asked how our food was. We asked the pasta be a little spicy, they emptied all the chili flakes in the state of Hawaii into their bland pasta sauce. Price for pasta per dish was something you would see in San Fransisco. Do not go here if you love Italian food, you will hate it after eating here.
Excellent staff! Some of the best wait staff and bartenders we experienced while in Hawaii. Food was delicious and we dined here multiple times!!
Food was overpriced for the qualityFrys were extremely greasy, Cream brûlée had an awful after tasteService was slowThe appearance of the place was fantastic! Also the manager compensated for the wait so he gave me a pineapple juice free of charge.Wish the staff would have been more professional but I still tipped 12% because I used to waitress and I know how It goes! Not eating there again
It was our honeymoon, we went out for an early dinner and thus place was highly recommended by my in laws. BUT they said go for breakfast..shoulda listened. My husband got chicken picatta I got the filet w bearnaise. His chicken picatta...its clearly a previously frozen breaded chicken breast. The white wine sauce was broken. The spinach a roasted tomato were COLD the spinach was completely raw. My filet I ordered medium.. yeah I know its supposed to be medium rare maybe theyre one of those places that wont let you get it the way you want it they insist on cooking it the way it should be. But it was very rare. And the funkiest cut of filet Ive ever seen. It was not tender it was not buttery it had zero flavor and was so bloody that my whole plate after a few Cuts was covered in blood. The base of my cold mashed potatoes was covered in blood and my little cup of extremely cold bearnaise was covered in blood. It was obvious that we were not happy I didnt eat any more of my food my husband and I switched plates we left leaving most of our food on the plate. Server seemed confused a manager came over and asked if everything was okay we didnt even want to deal with another terrible dining experience because we did not have good luck on our trip. So we said yes everythings fine no we dont want to box we just want our check. And they let us pay a hundred bucks and walk out. I work in the restaurant industry and if its obvious that someone is not happy Im not going to let them walk out un happy if they say everything is fine and theyve left everything on their plate and dont want a box I try to dig deeper I try to fix the situation tell me what I can do to make this a good experience for you.. But none of that here oh well you live and you learn I guess next time were in Maui we will try breakfast there give it another shot.
This was one of the worst meals I have ever had in any restaurant...first the service was slow. We ordered a hamburger and a hamburger alone was $13.00-$17.00...and all you get is a hamburger.....with lettuce cheese and tomato....since when do you just get that for that price....the fries for a small bowl was $5.00 and a Caesar salad (a very small bowl) was $10.00. The server asked if we wanted the salad first..I said no and then she brought it first because she said they made it...the lettuce was big chunks and it was not a very good Caesar dressing...when the hamburgers came they had nothing on them (condiments) and we had to ask for ketchup and mustard...wish we had googled a good place to eat. The whole meal with soda came to over $50.00...should have gone to McDonalds...it would have tasted better than this...oh and by the way I do not ever put reviews on...just wanted to save someone else from this restaurant...
This place is… meh…Great service but I’m buying a meal. The food is something I could get at like… Olive Garden for a quarter of the price. Maybe come here for a drink, DEFINITELY don’t come here for their overpriced, bland tasting menu options.
Over-hyped for the price, and horrible experience. Torrid artichoke, barely edible swimming in water/fat instead of cheese. Clearly stated I am allergic to gluten and main plate came with gnocchi... and this only arrived after nearly an hour of waiting, accompanied by fish that was inedible. Would not go back, and MANY better options, with same price within 5mins walk!
Mediocre food at best. We waited for 40 minutes for the kids’ food. Nothing was great, we left most of it on plate. Steak off of the kids menu was $28, which I find unreasonable (price wasn’t listed on menu)
Awful!!! Roaches in the bathroom, pasta was undercooked. Sent it back but staff didnt even apologize. Prawns were tasteless!! Do not waste your money here!!
The view was amazing. We caught the evening sunset. Beautiful location. Our server was also very good. The downside was the food. It was average at best...
Menu available inside is not the same as the one posted outside - menu at the table is more expensive. My wife ordered a $16 salad and asked for fish to be added - bill for the salad ended up at $56 ! Food was okay, but not worth the price, much better options in town.
The food was BLAND! I got some pasta, hubby got the ribs. The BBQ tasted more like teriyaki... the soda was flat also. We asked for a new one else a few times but they couldnt seem to figure out their machine...I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!
The most beautiful view of the sunset in Kaanapali while dining, menu highlights are their parmesan breaded chicken prepared in picata, marsala and mediateraneon, loved their garlic spinach and asparagus and for desert pineapple upside down cake and macadamia nut pie made with fresh caramelized Maui macadamia nuts.Their brunch menu on Fri, Sat and Sun boasts the best banana macadamia nut pancakes!Food was delicious and service was impeccably impressive.
The food and ambience are good. Nice wine list, including some by the glass. Pricier than many similar restaurants along the Kaanapali beach, but with same or somewhat lesser quality meal.
It was average quality food that was extremely overpriced. On top of this, my husband got food poisoning and was throwing up for the whole night. Overall, I definitely would not recommend this restaurant.
After 2 hours of waiting to get my food, they brought out 2 kids fish and chips one fine and the other well lets just say had a couple bites taken out of it. Then they brought out my cousins Mac and cheese. It was a grainy cheese soup with a couple of noodles floating in it. We later found an eyelash, and several dead bugs in it. Even if it was delicious, I dont think it takes 2 hours to make Mac n cheeseplease dont waste your money on 2 hours of waiting for food
We arrived close to closing though the waitress was friendly and beckoned us in.We chose the chicken cannelloni and Eggplant parmesan. The eggplant was ok though tomato sauce was nothing special. I am used to good Italian all over the world, and this was second rate. The cannelloni was not good at all. The pasta was not cooked enough, though unsure if it was freshly made. I could only discern one large piece of overcooked chicken inside the roll. I was complaining to my lady when - as if I had been heard - a bug emerged from inside the tomato sauce. This place used to be so much better...not going back
Been going to Longhis for years. Always get the Lobster Longhi for my wife and I. Food was good - to typical 4 star standard. Experience dragged down by being stuck in a back corner table with no fan access on an exceptionally muggy evening. Literally had to end dinner early to escape the oppressive heat. And the place was far from full - just a bad choice by the host/ess who seated us. Expect 4 star, beware the 1 star table potential.
We had a wonderful first experience here. A Longhison kaanapali beach is a great idea because they provide such a great alternative to the restaurants at the Whalers mall. We had the artichoke and the cheesy filling was heavenly. The fresh fish tonite was monchong and it was perfectly executed. The accompanying polenta cake was delicately spiced. The Sicilian cauliflower was surprisingly spicy, but delicious.Hector provided friendly and professional service. Kudos to you and welcome to Kaanapali beach.
Dinner was awful, stay away. The seared ahi was fully cooked and not high quality. The prosciutto pasta was rubbery and overcooked. For the money you’re spending go to Hula Grill or Leilanis and you’ll have a meal worth paying for.
Not the Longhi’s of the past. Went for dinner. Food was okay, pricey, and the surprise 4% restaurant surcharge they give themselves make for a poor experience. The service and view were great.
Pleasantly surprised to find this quaint spot on Front St. This place seemed to have a genuine homey feel - rich in history I could tell.We had the duck sandwich & a pasta primavera - both hit the spot! The duck was actually very good.I must say Im a bit surprised to see this many negative reviews... but everyone has their own experience and interpretation I suppose.
Excellent dinner right on the beach! Artichokes are the best Ive ever had and the Mac crusted mahi-mahi was perfect. Went back for lunch and dinner a second time its that good.
Amazing food and Great Service! Chicken Parmesan and the Surf and Turf were well worth the trip to this restaurant. Beautiful atmosphere and Robin was and awesome server!
The Lobster Benedict is amazing! You get a HUGE serving of lobster so definitely bang for the buck! Order one of their cinnamon buns to share! Great service and such a beautiful spot!
Great service, and the food was terrific. Even were able to get us in without a reservation...Oh, cocktails were great as well
The worst service ever!! Very racist!! Asians plz dont go there. Server refuses to serve just coz she doesnt want to serve Asians. Waited forever to come to my table and first thing she asked was not How are you today? ,but where are you from?.No wonder there is nobody in there!
The prawns dish I had was not edible. The sauce had a terrible flavor. Nice view. Server was not very friendly but did not charge for prawns.
My meal was amazing and the wine was too but the dessert was the best part of my hole meal it was my favorite part of even coming to the restaurant! many Compliments to the cook. 🙌
Service was great, food was pretty average and portions were pretty small based on the prices we were expecting more. Views are gorgeous though!
Super small portions. Got a $10 cocktail and they charged me $12 on my bill. Waitress was nice but I would not recommend this place at all.
Dinner was amazing!! I had the linguini with class, and it did not disappoint. Our waiter was extremely polite, very helpful and on top of everything!
Ate there twice while in Kaanapali and both times were superb. Food was excellent and the service was superb. Quiet and intimate even though you are outside.
