I moved to the area last year and started coming here with my fiance- Kata is amazing! The staff is so kind and talented, and they really listen to what you want instead of trying to push you into anything specific. Some of the best massages Ive ever gotten. A+ 😊

If I could give negative stars, I would.The massage therapists at Kata Spa are really good, and the place itself is excellent. However, I have l experienced significant issues with the man at the front desk, who may be the owner. His behavior has been extremely unpleasant and could be described as either racist, rude, or highly arrogant. For a couple of months, he mysteriously claimed that everything was booked out and unavailable for us. The phone was also mysteriously out of service just for us. He also refused to book my husband for a massage because he did not approve of the tip amount given last time. He told me that on the phone specifically. Another time, when I tried to reschedule an appointment, he told me to never call back again. Others here have also experienced the same treatment. This behavior is incredibly annoying and unprofessional, overshadowing the otherwise good service provided by the therapists.

This was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. My upper back was killing me so I decided to visit this place and have a full body massage. The guy at the front desk was very welcoming and kind and he guided me to my room right away. The therapist greeted me as well with a big smile and asked me which areas should she give more attention. After I explained her how I was feeling I just told her that I need a deep tissue massage.She was incredible! She was concentrated professional and aware about the areas I pointed out to her.I stayed in that room for one hour and I came out a different person.More relaxed and calm.My experience was exceptional!I’ll be back soon.

This place deletes its reviews. The owner was extremely awful. If you look on yelp, you’ll see all the reviews specifically about him, but they definitely pay Google to scrape their reviews. I left a lengthy review of my experience last year and now I see that it’s been deleted so I’m leaving it again - I was running behind to my appointment less than five minutes. I lived around the block. Before I knew it turned out that the owner canceled me and asked me to reschedule. I told him I was literally a block away. He said too bad I said I’d be into the office to speak with him. he basically started antagonizing me from the door telling me to keep my voice down, though I was not raising my voice. when I told him if he wanted, we could step outside to keep noise down he got even more aggressive, acting like what was my problem for suggesting that. I got scared given how he was antagonizing me, and I started recording him. Later on when I got home to leave this review that apparently got deleted and the one also on Yelp, I found on yelp that there was many reviews specifically about the owner being rude and aggressive. I will never go back for those reasons. And I also will leave this review all over Reddit where they will never be able to delete it again.

Kata spa is very clean and spacious! Front desk is welcoming and staffs are kind. The massage therapist did great job.

I’ve had many massages across the world and let me tell you this place was up there as one of the best I’ve received. I did the 60 min deep tissue and you can very easily tell the masseuse knew the anatomy of the body. She adapted and took extra time on tighter areas that needs therapeutic relief. My body felt pristine, reborn, and you can feel the stress leaving your body. Would definitely come back here anytime I’m in nyc

Seriously the best massage for your buck. They actually pay attention to your muscle tension. The skill is unmatched. They beat out other cheaper spas and their price is unbeatable. Check them out.

I have frequented this establishment for many years. The quality of the massage is top-notch. Customer service issues at the front desk and racist policies aside, the owner himself thinks they are the only therepeutic massage place in town.After being late 1-2 x (for which they cancel my appointment on the spot and didn’t even ask me to wait), I continue to try to call in to book appointments, but mysteriously everything was always taken, and no appointments were ever available when I called. I’ve talked to other customers in the area, some of which have echoed my concerns… I’ve dealt with some racist incidents at this location as well but chose not to pursue them.I will not be returning, ever. Hope the owner and front desk staff change their fake attitudes and niceties and realize this is a customer service facing world!You’ve been warned.

The very professional treatment completely relieved the fatigue of my neck and lumbar spine. Dr. Grace is so strong that I have to make her relieve the pressure. I was very sore during the treatment, but my body was very relaxed afterwards.

I’ve been coming to Kata spa since I moved to New York 5 years ago! Every massage therapist I’ve had has been excellent and the front desk has always been so polite and welcoming! I always tell my friends to come here - great location, very clean and professional.

This places made me a regular massage goer now! Every year I take advantage of their well-priced package of massages and get a monthly massage.It’s truly amazing customer service to allow texting for reservations and pricing. So convenient! There is always a prompt response (within work hours, of course) and they always manage to fit us in. After a year or two of going here they recognize my phone number and honor our massage credits which makes the experience all the more friendly.The only thing of note is that the rooms are not entirely soundproof so it’s a good practice to keep voices low when entering and exiting through the lobby.I always exit feeling like a noodle - job well done!

Great little gem in LIC! As someone who has received plenty of massages from different spas throughout NYC and around the country, I can confidently say this is right up there. Kata is reasonably priced, accommodating for appointments, has a very professional and calming atmosphere with beautifully set up private rooms, a friendly owner, and excellent therapists. The front staff is also accommodating and awesome to deal with! (I look forward to the different flavored teas I get post massage!) Ive been coming here since it has opened and even though the therapists, as expected, have changed through the years, the quality hasnt!Living a block away from here really helps and will be continue to be the only place I go to for my sessions from the foreseeable future!Keep it up Kata!

One of the best massage therapy session Ive ever experienced. The hostess was super kind and very informative with all my questions. She was very accommodating and knowledgeable. She also suggested a delicious tea that I now drink all the time.I had the masseuse Selina. She was small in stature but very powerful in technique. She was soft spoken and attentive to my needs.She played great music and knew exactly what I needed to be worked on just by reading my reactions.Perfect all around place and will definitely bring other people here and I will return very soon.

In the top 3 massages Ive ever had in my life! Susan was amazing and really focused on breaking up my knots in my back. The stretching was amazing too. Going to be visiting Kata Spa a part of my regular wellness routine. :)

Have always had a wonderful experience here. The staff is so friendly but more importantly they are very good at what they do. I have had Deep Tissue and Swedish and can only say AWESOME!!! The place is very clean and relaxing. I have always purchased their 4 massage packages and I recommend the same. Cannot beat the price and the experience is worth every penny.

I just got 1 hour massage done at KATA. I think its my 3rd massage from this place after a long 6 hour flight from Seattle in the past 2 years. I usually ask for gentle massage due to my herniated disc in the back. Im not sure what it is but I usually fall asleep at this place as soon as the therapist starts her move. Its so soothing and relaxing. Place is kept clean and smells very pleasant every time I visit. I do go to a routine place in Seattle but is not as nice as KATA.

Susan is the best in NYC if you like a strong deep tissue. Susan finds all the knots and pain points after a peloton or barre class without me even telling her. I would choose the serene ambience of Kata over the $400 gimmicky places any day.

Theyll try to sell you a four-pack of massages, and you should let them. The massages are strong and serious, and the space is cleaner and more private than it should be, given the relatively low prices.Im a lady who likes to get a little abused on a massage bed. HOWEVER. The massages, if anything, are too strong and too serious. Just tell yourself hes here to help you, is the mantra I whispered at myself to relax into the pain and take is like a woman. I was very sore for about 36 hours after my first trip.So my huzzo and I will be back to finish off our four-pack, but I will surely ask for a more relaxing rub this time, and I might suggest you do the same.

This negative review is not of the quality of the massage, but pertains solely to the poor customer service I received from the front desk, after being a returning customer for months, and the nonchalant attitude from the owner himself (a man named Joon).This establishment claims to not take advanced reservations with specific massage therapists until the day of. Yet, on numerous occasions, I have requested appointments with certain therapists as early as 6 AM the day of (4 hours before their opening hour) only to be told that that particular therapists schedule is already fully booked for the day, or that she only had one spot available. As a returning customer, this was frustrating to me as it clearly showed that the person taking reservations was showing favoritism toward certain customers (how is one customer told that no advanced reservations are made, whereas others seem to be able to book in advance?)I have attempted to reach out to the owner so that I can get a better understanding of the reservation policy; no response from Joon. I then decided to regularly inquire about the availability of my preferred therapists, in hopes that one day I would be told that she is indeed available. After weeks of these attempts (none of which were successful), I received a text message from the owner (Joon) telling me that they dont take request appointments because they are a small staffed team and taking request appointment gives them limitations. I then got on the phone with Joon and asked him to explain how this policy seems to be in effect for me but not others; I even brought up the specific experience of being told a therapists schedule is booked for the day as early as 6 AM. Joon attempted to discredit my story; fortunately, the correspondence in question was through text messages, so I took a screenshot of it and forwarded it to Joon. At this time, I had previously purchased a package of 4 massages and had one session remaining. The ultimate response I received from Joon, after being a loyal customer, is: If she [the therapist] happens to be available at the time of your visit, we will assign her to you. I can process a refund for your last remaining session if you wish.This event took place in May of 2019. Since then, I have tried calling the establishment to make a reservation (with no particular therapist) yet I am yet to have someone answer my calls. Occasionally, someone seems to accidentally answer and then instantly hang up the phone. I got the impression that the owner has instructed his staff to not answer incoming calls from my number. To verify this theory, I asked friends to call from their own phones directly after I make an unsuccessful attempt reaching the spas landline. To no surprise, my call did not go through but theirs did.Once again, this review only pertains to the poor management and customer service at this establishment which, from my experience, is top-down. The massage therapists themselves are at no fault here.

The masseuses do not speak a word of English. The prices are pretty low and so is the service. The bathroom is connected to the kitchen, it looks like a tiny studio apartment that was converted into a fake spa. Would most definitely not recommend it.

The place smells dirt, not professional staff at the reception, I was hoping may the massage will change my first impression but that was the worst massage I ever had the therapist goes hard on some areas you really feel the la lack of experience.the front desk personnel soo rude.Horrible customer service.
