OYO Hotel McAllen Airport South

While I cannot speak to any other review, I would like to share my recent [June 2024] two night stay and my OYO experience.The room rate is phenomenal! Both check-in & check-out were quick and easy.My room was very clean. Quite comfortable. Very quiet!! In fact, this stay was only one of only a handful of motel / hotel stays where I actually slept well. Seriously!Bonuses (1) true to dog friendly. Lots of green space for our 4-legged children 😊(2) walkable to city center; restaurants and shopping center.If you’re in McAllen I recommend staying with OYO

The service at first was good upon arrival but there was no easy way to contact front desk at night as the phone wasnt working, when I finally got to call them from my phone there was no follow up on my request. The room was okay but it smelled really bad to humidity as there was no extractor in the bathroom and all my belongings still smell as bad.Location is great, parking was a bit hard at night as there were no parking spots left, but overall it was okay for the price.

Horrible attitude. Can’t finish a question when I get a cold firm attitude answer. A thin young lady that looked like a 17year old (cold,shut up style answer) was training another person. I had to go to the atm to get cash so I could get a deposit back. $100 I asked for a receipt “you don’t get one” that was my answer.I get up early went to the front lobby hoping for. Same thin female “ we don’t offer free breakfast “ ok I was just asking for coffee.. nothing about free.At check out the lady with glasses I believe pregnant. Looks at me while I had my key card in the form of me returning it and at a distance saying can I help you?! You would think she would say “good morning mam, are you checking out?” While standing in front of the guest. She then leans to the side to reach for the card and said “is that it?”Me: I have a deposit. No word from her, They check the room and everything if fine.Lady: hands me a paper to sign…. I am trying to read and she then gets in front of me and said “sign here” touching the paper. Me:I am reading.lady: touched the paper and said sign here you don’t have to read below. You are singing what’s under your signature.Me: “this is also under the signature?!”Lady: you can scratch that off moving her shoulders. Like i don’t careMe: I did scratch and wrote receiving my $100 in cash.Lady: looks at it, said this is not a signature.Me, why am I signing when I asked for a receipt last night and i didn’t get oneLady: I wasn’t here last night and can’t control what they do.Me: wowSo I scribbled and she puts the money in the counterNEVER a thank you, come back and visit, nothing.THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER SEEN

Horrible experience not worth the money. The room smell old and mildew. The bed mattress was hard and you can fell every spring. The people at the front desk was too busy to care they had so many complaints.

This hotel was a absolutely disgusting. The floors were so dirty from the mop they used that I had to wipe it up with a towel. Our feet were dirty just from walking to and from the restroom. There was no hairdryer, the room smelled absolutely horrible, there was a cigarette burn on our sheet, random hairs, no wifi, no ability to login to Netflix, and there were meth heads hanging around all night. The second night there were two women and a man screaming all night and the staff did nothing about it. THE WORST HOTEL IVE EVER STAYED AT. Absolutely repulsive and the people who work here are too. They should be ashamed of themselves. 🤮

Terrible service, we extended our stay through Booking, but the administrator did not find our reservation, in the end we had to move out, but in the two hours that the administrator found out the information, we had to pay $50 for late check-out. The room was very dark, the floor was dirty, our socks became dirty after being in the room

I cannot complain about this room with the cheap prices. The room is quaint and clean. There was no blow dryer or iron, but they brought me an iron when i called and asked. They front desk was very clean and the people were polite. There is a pool, but it was literally in the middle of the parking lot (there was a wall). Overall it’s a great option if you’re on a budget.

I went and it was very clean and the room was big. Unfortunately there is a 100 dollar deposit that is not mentioned until you go. Update: I got my deposit back the day I was told I would. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a reasonably priced hotel but you should be aware that you will need a deposit.

Well the room wasnt too bad, beds were what you would expect from a hotel that offers cheap rooms. The biggest down side was not only having to change out the card to your room every night, but the fact that I got locked INSIDE my own room. I kept turn the handle over and over and the door would not open! I had to call the front desk, and after 3 minutes with the automated system, I finally got someone to come over and get me out. Thank god there wasnt a fire or anything, or I would have been trapped! You guys need to improve your doors for sure so something like that doesnt happen.

Unexpected 100 deposit when checking in had no prior notice. My brother checked in 10 minutes after me charged 40 deposit. Still waiting on my 100 deposit after speaking with office I was told I left stuff, which is a lie because I even went to dollar store bought fabulouso, mop, broom, and plunger due to a smell and stopped up toilet when I first got there. THEY ARE SCAMMING PPL OUT OF DEPOSIT. Make sure to pay cash so you get deposit back as soon as you check out, if you do decide to stay here.

The room was clean but very sparce. No chairs, no table, no hairdryer, no coffee pot. The bed was too hard for our old bones and we didnt even stay the night. We checked out within 2 hours of checking in. A good deal didnt work for us and we ended up paying for this room plus the hotel we left to. No refund offered.

If there was an option for zero stars that is what would be best suited for this prison cell. Motel six looks like the Ritz Carlton in comparison. The mattress was like a prison mattress, no amenities such as hair drier, a table to work at, a chair to sit in, so as I was there on business, I had 2 laptops wireless keyboard and mouse etc. Night 1. 4 cockroaches, 2 on floor, one on the wall and 1 in the bed. Place smelled musty and the a/c unit kept it humid. Do to the cockroaches, I asked for a different room, and was denied. They said they would spray something down, and I think it was kool-aid because they kept coming. I wish I could show pictures in this post. I have several. My business partner and I had to leave for an emergency back to Dallas, and had to cut our stay short but would be returning the next week, and asked for 2 days credit for each room. He didnt have the cockroach issue, but it was his credit card that paid the room. Ill never go back. The office cant issue credits, so we called corporate, and were told no way on any credits or refunds, and they get to book the room sold to us again, and make double profit, and unwilling to issue partial or full credit. I have a child in the hospital in Dallas!!! Screw you OYO. Its called business ethics. But then again this company is based in India, where negotiating the price of dinner after its eaten on your anniversary with your wife is normal. I would have rather brought my tent, a blow up mattress, and a portable generator. Its not about the money, its about the service, or lack of service, amenities, and cleanliness.

They didnt let me register my check in until 8pm even though I arrived at 3:30 as they asked me on the phone, also my room was dirty, I asked reception to send a house keeper to clean it but they told me the hotel was short of staff as if that was my problem. I stayed two nights and they did not clean my room after my first night either, I travel a lot and it is on my understanding that hotels should keep their rooms clean. I havent been able to contact the manager, I totally do not recomend staying in here

Clean and good Hotel, don’t offer something to drink, no vending machine and nothing, internet access sucks and was from my room not possible. But would always come back for one night.

Do not stay here. The staff is very rude and lied about a few details. There is a hidden $100 deposit. The rooms are awful. The bed is so hard it actually bruised my mothers hip. The air conditioner didnt get the room below 85°. There were rust stains in the bath tub and stray hairs on the toilet seat. There was no parking and we were informed (incorrectly) that we would be towed for parking in the only spot we found.I wouldnt ask my worst enemy to stay here as it would be cruel and unusual punishment.

Wish I could put 0 stars. Bathroom had ants, no hand soap, towels were dirty, bed was hard as a rock, ac made the room humid, water in shower did NOT get hot. There were people right outside of our room talking loudly and playing music ALL night. Some even had their cars turned on with the lights facing directly into the window. Some were also revving their engines. This is just an assumption, but I’m pretty sure some employees LIVE there, which wouldn’t be a big deal if they weren’t extremely rude. My guest and I showed up separately, he had my dog with him.. which we were going to take to a family member of mine. Employee saw me with the dog outside of the hotel and immediately charged me a pet fee. Pet fee is $15, which isn’t a big charge. But it is for someone who clearly didn’t have the money to even pay for the $100 deposit AFTER having already paid for my room online, WHICH I told him. I had to purposely put my account into the negatives and overdrafted it just to be able to stay here, and there he goes… charging a fee when he was unaware of the situation. He told me to call someone named Alex on Monday morning at 9:30 at the same location. It’s Friday night right now. Don’t even know if it’s worth it at this point because he was extremely rude and inconsiderate on the phone and clearly this pending transaction will already have gone through by Monday. There is nothing I can do now except say how SH*TTY this location and its employees are. NEVER stay here.

Beware! Im not sure how this hotel got so many good reviews,which I looked at reviews before I decided. I hd two suites one for my elderly parents and one for my wife and I. My parents rooms floor was coming apart. The vinyl flooring was horrible. The same in my room . When I complained.i was given 20 minutes to decide to get my money back. We went there for a funeral. Its sad that I drove 400 miles only to be so disappointed. The parking lot was full of people partying and smoking weed.its not family friendly and definitely our type of hotel.

Quite disappointing. Says it is a 2 1/2 star but it doesnt have exercise facilities or any breakfast things. Booked on Priceline based on what appeared to be a decent price and discovered when completing the booking they added 34.95 per day extra charge as a resort fee. No real resort facilities . I guess it is a charge for invisible resort facilities. Bed is small. No table or chairs in the room. I wish I have done more checking before I got hooked with this sub par hotel.

I suggest to call them for a better price. 53 dollar for a room is really good price during week. Clean and organized

Mediocre at best. No tissue, hand soap, blow dryer, or cold water from the sink. Molding missing in places, and trash left from previous guests. Also parking lot was full when I returned kinda late. Would’ve been mad if it weren’t dirt cheap with my flight. It works, but I wouldn’t want to pay full price.

A $100 deposit is required for bad service and low quality room dispute not being mentioned on hotels.com or in the reservation.The ad and reservation on hotels.com promises a coffee maker. The rude hotel clerk refused to provide one, refused to allow me to speak to the manager, and then refused to answer the phone for the hotels.com representative.Additionally, the flooring has cracks in it and the bathroom has moldy areas.This property does not live up to the OYO or hotels.com standards.Hotels.com tried to make it right but the property manager did nothing.

Like the description says, their rooms are very straightforward and simple. Excellent if you need something quick and cheap. They even had body wash which is surprising knowing that pretty much all other hotels only have shampoo

For 1 night we have a comfortable experience. The room was big enough for my husbands electric wheelchair to move around. Just the shower dont have enough handle for disabled guest to hold on to and atleast a shower chair? Close to restaurants andstores.

I think maybe they renovated because the room i was placed in 211 was actually new but whats true is the other reviews on not getting your 100 dollar deposit im actually trying to retrieve it and no answer no luck but me being who i am will expose it as fraude so if theres more guests that havent wrote a review please do so, therefore we can recopile more complaints and stop this practice i think they do it because we are tourists passing by.

NEVER AGAIN!!! My daughter booked this room for us we had a horrible experience the minute we arrived. To begin w the lady had us walk back and forth cause she wrote the wrong room number on the card key. The towels were all worn out, the mattresses were super old & uncomfortable , the pillows smelled like sweat, the window blind wouldnt close completely and we could see all the light and people passing by, there was roaches, the fowl smell the minute u walked in, and the ridiculous $100 deposit, and bad customer service. Not friendly at all.....gave 1 star cause I dont have an option for 1/2 star. Horrible experience

Awful. The room was fine but the customer service experience was by far one of the worst Ive dealt with. I booked thru hotels tonight and could not reach the front desk no matter how many times I tried. They kept forwarding me to their call center in India where they refused to connect me because the reference number I had for my reservation wouldnt pull up. They told me to call hotels tonight to figure it out and even after several phone calls and attempts I had to go to the hotel in person where they were little to no help. The NAIL in the coffin tho was when I got charged an extra 25 dollars because I left the room at 11:15 and I didnt even get a receipt explaining why. You couldnt pay me to stay here and just so were clear take a look at my reviews. I never leave a bad review everything is always 4-5 stars because I like to support small businesses, so if Im leaving a bad review its because you deserve it not because Im bitter. I hope you guys learn from this or shut down. Either or.

I was over charge and still waiting for my refund. The lady at the front office was rude and has no mannerisms. It was 3:30 am she didnt have an idea how to fix the issue so her idea was to not give me a room at 3:30 am. I drove in from Houston and made Hotel aware of me coming in late. The total amount of reservations was $164 and I was charged $240. Still waiting for my refund.

When we first reserved a room online, we were not told about a $100 deposit that had to be cash. When we said that we couldnt get cash they said that we needed to pay $30 to cancel. This is ridiculous. How in any way is this good business?

Never got my $125 deposit back

Its the second time I rented OYO HOTEL. We were very happy with the service and the rooms. But there was only one thing about my second stay. There was no water pressure in the shower. Very little water. But other than that everything was great.

1. Effort should be made to keep guests quite ie. slamming doors, loud music.2. Rooms could be cleaner3. Rooms need updating along with repairing missing crown molding4. Staff were very helpful and cordial.5. We extended our stay twice. A call at 8 am inqiuring as to whether we wanted to extend it again was unnecessary.

Location was great and room was clean. However, the pillows were terrible, like pancakes and the blankets so thin. At least comfier linens and fluffy pillows would have been nice.

This is s a great hotel for a one night stay, staying longer is difficult because of lack of tables and chairs. My room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. I enjoyed the pool and the location is very convenient.

OYO should honor the price promotion from another website. For example, Expedia has the room for $36.00 dollars plus tax. Especially, I have stayed 2 months and 2 weeks time frame. It is very upsetting because the customer should be very satisfied.

Its kinda crazy how they charge you $10 PER for 1 white towel that is expected to get dirrtty. I PAID $85 FOR 8 TOWLES! I HOPE THEY TREAT EVERY CUSTOMER THE SAME. No washer and dryer. They might need to upgrade there building cause it isnt very comfortable in the first. I went elsewhere with MY money next route for sure.

Very poor customer service over the phone. Does not honor the compensation their own franchise guarantees. Basically this location is a scam and will be taking the necessary steps and channels to report them on a higher level since they dont want to easily refund me or compensation for the night i canceled ahead and didnt even occupy. Very disappointing and displeasing.

Price was right, but…the A/C made a high pitched whine when it shuts down. The refrigerator’s compressor was loud, too. And the toilet seat was broken (missing hardware).

Every was nice and clean....parking was very accessible, and front desk was very useful...overall I enjoyed my stayed with u all.

Rooms were fine. One star because security deposit was unexpected and I still haven’t gotten it back four months later even after calling.

The hotel has a good location, its near the Mall and shopping area, had a pool, which my kids enjoyed...its noisy though, we could barely sleep as we could hear everything from the room above ours.

I put in a $100 deposit and never received it at all. Its been a month and we never received it with out any damages done at all

I didnt even get to stay here because first, the employee was booking the rooms for me and all of a sudden the room were overbooked. The whole time i had a hard time talking to him because he kept repeating everything i said and never conpleted my booking so now i have no room.

Everything was clean, great room space, comfy bed and great location just across La Plaza Mall, and many stores and restaurants. Great for a shopping trip to McAllen

Super nice staff, HUGEEEE rooms, pool was super clean. Property is centrally located easy to jump to downtown, the mall, and airport.

I stayed in this hotel for 8 days to quarantine myself, because i travelled from Arizona...love my stayed with my tiny dog with me. Huge space and clean room..thank Oyo❤

We requested a 2-bedroom suite, it is very spacious, there are 2 beds, 1 king size and one queen, so it is quite comfortable, the hot water, the tub and bathroom are very clean, the only detail is that the wifi does not reach the room , it only worked outside the room, the reception is very small and smells bad, the attention of the regular reception guy, he made me wait when there was no line, but he resolved my doubt. In general it was good for me for that price.

The staff service is excellent, the room is spacious, but it smelled a little musty which was the bad thing.

The problem is the deposit of 100 dollars that they tell you that if you do something you end up staining something, they take the 100 dollars from you and you practically dont know if they will return it because they dont even tell you what they qualify to give you or not give you the 100 dollars, I recommend it if you are willing to lose 100 dollars just because I accidentally stained something.

I have always stayed at the hotel, everything is excellent but when I try to communicate I can never receive a response, it is very difficult to have contact with the hotel

The rooms are very good, comfortable bed and clean bathrooms.They made a mistake when they assigned me the room, when I entered it was already occupied by another person, poor management service.The location is good but there is a lack of parking spaces, it fills up and you have to leave your car far from your room.

The Night Boy was super sick and had such a despotic attitude!I understand that you dont feel well, but why are you going to work if youre sick?

Terrible hotel, terrible service NOTHING recommendable, there is NO hot water and the person at the reception says that it is normal, I dont know why they dont have that information on their website, apart from that their climate is extremely noisy and they dont care about anything other than rent their rooms.

If you want to have the worst experience of your life reserving a hotel, this hotel is undoubtedly your best option. I booked two rooms through Expedia and when I arrived at the hotel they only had one reservation. By not making the reservation with them, they couldnt do anything, I wrote the complaint to Expedia and they told me that the hotel had said that they had taken both rooms, incredible!!!!!!In addition to all this, they ask for a deposit of 100 dollars without giving you proof or receipt for the stay, it is the worst hotel I have ever been to in my life.
