Ball & Chain in Miami is an absolute must-visit! From the moment we were seated, we knew we were in for a special experience. The live Cuban music set the perfect vibe, featuring talented musicians on keyboard and congas, along with a charismatic vocalist who danced with maracas. The energy was infectious and had us all dancing in our seats. Our group indulged in delicious food and drinks throughout the evening. I personally enjoyed an incredible Cuban sandwich that was bursting with flavor, and I washed it down with a few Miami Mules, their refreshing take on the classic Moscow Mule. The combination was perfect and hit the spot. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, and the staff made sure we had everything we needed to have a great time. The live music, fantastic food, and inventive drinks all contributed to an unforgettable night. If you’re looking for a place in Miami with great live music, tasty Cuban cuisine, and a lively atmosphere, Ball & Chain is the place to be. We had an amazing time and can’t wait to come back!

I really expected more of this place since it’s well known in Miami.Food was really good but there are some things I really didn’t like.Live music is so loud that you cannot have a decent conversation at all. We did change tables but it was just more of the same. They had those huge doors opened and it’s summer, I guess they want people passing by to listen to the music, but then the air conditioning did nothing for us, it was very hot inside and they don’t even have fans. Very uncomfortable. We were a party of 6. All of us had dinner and drinks. Some of us were still busy with dinner and the waitress came to our table to ask if we were going to order something else. We said that not at the moment. One minute after we got the check while we were still eating. There are better options if you like really like Cuban food, but if you decide to try this place you will need to make a reservation.

There is no room to dance, so if people were dancing, suck in your stomach and dont move. It was a little too crowded for me. Wasnt what I was looking for.

What a pleasure it was to visit this must-visit gem in little Havana! I had some of the best drinks I’ve ever had here and they have the best cocktails in Miami!Ordered the world famous ball and chain mojito, call me a cooler, and the passion Fountaine.Topped it off with their delicious guava empanadas.Enjoyed these drinks and treats while a live and engaging band was performing in the background as well. The space is huge and filled with history and culture. Love the outdoor space on the back especially the grand stage. The whole place had a fun and friendly vibe and the service was great and thoughtful.

Pricey food--the Cuban egg roll was $14 and half the size of the medianoche sandwich with fries ($18). The ropavieja was a better deal. Would only return to listen to music with a drink. The small round tables are tiny and it will be hard to have food for 2 fit there. Bonus tip: get there early because parking is limited on the street. Also the service charge is for the music.

The alcohol pitcher we got had so much ice, it makes it look like theres lot of liquid but its cause the ice pushes the liquid up. And The prices are crazyyyy. Only good thing is the atmosphere. The restaurant is very cool and interestingly decorated. They have a live band and a dancer as well as employees are kind. But thats about it. Ball and Chain oozes charm, and it is the perfect spot to sit and relax on a hot Miami day.We stopped in for the captivating live salsa music, and we stayed because the vibes were incredible. They have cheap and delicious mocktails, which was a relief— because my partner and I don’t drink alcohol. My Virgin mojito was so refreshing and his tonic with lime was a delight.Their house trio was so talented and charismatic, and they got everyone smiling and shimmying in their seats. Ball and chain have been around for a long time.. since i was a child.its a nice place to visit since it has a backyard, and live music is a plus ..but 😮😮😮You have two people standing in the door a man and a woman ( cuban ) just likeyself, with a very bad attitude. My husband is one of the musicians who plays every week there. I was taking him a drink. I had to walk around because a lot of people dancing 🕺 didnt want to be in their way. And the 2 people at the door. Just was not letting me come around. But at the same time, there were 2 men with glass in their hands ✋️ standing outside without any problem. P.s. The bathroom 🚻 was very clean. And the musician with live music 🎶 is my favorite.i will add a photo. Parking is hard since they dont have there, Owen. But 8th Street is nice please to visit.

Looking for a place to enjoy some authentic Cuban music, delicious cocktails, and a lively atmosphere I stubbled upon Ball and Chain in Little Havana. This historic venue has been a cultural icon in Miami since 1935, and I learnt from staff it has hosted some of the biggest names in Latin jazz, such as Billie Holiday and Count Basie. The staff at Ball and Chain are very friendly and helpful, and they make a great Pina Basil Mexacalita, a refreshing drink made with pineapple, basil, mezcal, and lime juice. But the main attraction at Ball and Chain is the live music. I was happy to see a lively local band setting up when I walked in. At the back there is unique pineapple-shaped stage in the patio, which adds to the charm. The bathroom door handles are even shaped as a ball and chain. This is a must-see attraction in Miami, and a true gem in Little Havana. Whether you are a fan of jazz or salsa, you will have a great time at Ball and Chain. The staff will ensure that you do. Decided to check it out as we were walking the block. The front section seemed pretty happening, but there was nowhere to hang out and listen to the live music. Half the room was booked for a party, so it was very crowded on the open side.Bathrooms werent the cleanest, and they have an attendant to pump soap into your hands and give you paper towels. Was very embarrassing because I chose the first stall and didnt realize until it was too late that there was a split down the side wall, and I could see the attendant sitting there. The back patio was pretty, with huge trees lining the perimeter. Almost forgot we were sitting in the city. It looks like they do live music on the stage. Im sure that would be a lot of fun since its much more of an open floor for guests.

If you love good music, a fine cigar, and an exceptional mojito, then Ball and Chain is your spot. Nestled in the heart of the city, this place offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with ample space to spread out and soak in the ambiance. It exudes a classy jazz vibe, but dont let that intimidate you—come in, grab a drink, and lose yourself in the atmosphere. The music here is transcendent. A seamless blend of jazz, classics, and contemporary Cuban rhythms that makes you feel alive. You cant help but groove along with everyone else, caught in the infectious beat. And the mojitos—these arent just any mojitos. They’re the best Ive had in Miami, hands down. Garnished with a sugar cane stick, they have a unique touch that sets them apart. The outdoor space is a revelation, with plenty of seating and a far better setup for enjoying a stogie than most places around. Ball and Chain strikes that perfect balance of atmosphere, authenticity, and pure, unadulterated pleasure. It’s a place that keeps calling you back, and Ill be returning every time I find myself in this city.

Title: A Historic Gem with Fantastic Food and Music - Ball & Chain Delivers an Unforgettable ExperienceBall & Chain, a historic Cuban restaurant in Miami, continues to captivate visitors with its incredible food, lively music, and rich heritage. Stepping into this iconic establishment is like stepping into a time capsule, immersing yourself in the vibrant culture of Miami.During our visit in early May, celebrating my husbands and my moms birthdays before another cruise, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a sense of nostalgia. As we settled in, we noticed that the service was a little slow. However, the ambiance and overall experience at Ball & Chain made it easy for us to be patient and understanding. The food at Ball & Chain is nothing short of phenomenal. We couldnt resist ordering their delicious plantain fries, which were an absolute delight. The flavors were exquisite, and it was clear that great care and attention were put into every dish. The menu offered a wide variety of Cuban specialties, ensuring there was something to please every palate. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the live music. The talented musicians created an electrifying atmosphere, filling the air with infectious rhythms. What made the experience even more special was the interaction between the musicians and my son. They generously shared their instruments and taught him how to play, creating cherished memories for our family. While we noticed that the back area of the restaurant seemed to be closed during our visit, it added an air of mystery and intrigue. We werent sure if it was due to renovations or if it was only open in the nighttime. Nonetheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our time inside, surrounded by the vibrant decor and historical charm. For those seeking a more relaxed experience, the outside area with water spritzers offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the music, take in the atmosphere, and unwind. Its a great option for those who simply want to stand, listen, and immerse themselves in the lively energy of Ball & Chain. In conclusion, a visit to Ball & Chain is a must for anyone in Miami or exploring Florida. The combination of fantastic food, captivating live music, and a rich historical backdrop creates an unforgettable experience. While the service may be a little slow at times, the overall ambiance and the joyous atmosphere make it easy to embrace and enjoy. Immerse yourself in the spirit of Miami and create lasting memories at this iconic Cuban restaurant.

Great atmosphere, great music, delicious mojitos, terrible service!A service tip of 18% is included by default, maybe that explains the terrible service of waitresses. No effort needed from their side as they are already cashing 18% of the tab. It was happy hour (2x1 on Friday) and they had live music, so I stopped by to enjoy it. But I had to wait 10 minutes to find the waitress and ask for my 2nd drink from happy hour. It was not even 5 pm when she told me she had to close the tab and that my kid was not allowed after 8 pm (thanks for the notice, but we were not planning to stay another 3 hours!). Like I said, it’s ok for a couple drinks but don’t expect much from such lousy service.

First time in little Havana and came here based on the reviews. I want to preface this by saying i don’t mind paying for excellent service or tipping well when deserved. The workers all seemed to have an attitude and couldn’t be bothered to get you a drink. It was extremely crowded and as someone whose never been it was extremely confusing as to if I was supposed to seat myself or not. The guys standing at the front were very confusing as well, what are they there for? I tried showing my Id as they were standing literally in the middle of the entrance but they didn’t want to check my ID so I had to squeeze passed them as they didn’t move. I watched them as I was confused as to what they’re supposed to be doing and honestly I didn’t see them do anything but stand in the entrance and make patrons squeeze between them to enter. The bartender had an attitude and seemed more annoyed I was sitting at the bar than anything. The drinks were extremely over priced. The bathroom attendant was probably the straw that broke the camels back for the place for me. He did NOTHING but sit there on his phone and I went to dry my hands with the towel he handed me (keep in mind he has yet to say anything to me I got my own soap out of the dispenser he was on his phone the whole time) and I looked over at him and he was giving me the MEANEST look I have ever been given in my life. Sir why are you expecting a tip when you did nothing but hand me a paper towel I could’ve easily got myself.. it’s definitely a tourist trap. If you take anything from this review please proceed with caution when looking to a place to eat or drink.

No body to seat you you have to find your own spot to sit. When we did in a great spot that was cool and breezy we were asked to give up our spot to other people and put us in a poor lit spot that was hotter than where we were. It took a little long to get actual service. a bit on the expensive side.

Went for the live music and authentic Cuban food. Not sure how authentic it can be considered given that they dont have congri nor oxtail. A lot of the menu is mostly tropical flavors there to tailor the menu to tourists - cant say Ive ever craved pineapple salmon in my life.I went on a Wednesday night with a reservation for 8pm. If youre going for the live music make sure you specify you want to be seated indoors as outdoors was pretty hot and very removed from the live music. The tables outside are also too low and not very suitable for dining. The live music was good but ended at 9 whereas the restaurants across the street that also had live music continued to play live music throughout the night. Our hostess helped change our reservation to indoors thankfully but we had to wait about 20 minutes. For the effect of a bar thats been open since the 30s its worth a visit. If youre a tourist that wants to dance or see people dance sure. But if you want a good dinner experience youre better off waiting for a table at Versailles and then heading here to dance. We ordered 2 vaca fritas, a chicken fricasse and whatever the fried pork option was and a side of yuca fries. I didnt try the pork but the fricasse was largely lacking in flavor. I suppose if you dont know Latin food you might enjoy it. Top dish for us was the vaca frita but one of the vaca fritas had a hair in it. The virgin piña colada was good. We ordered 3 piña coladas + a mojito. All in all we spent 190$. The menu listed online is inaccurate.

Passed during the day and it was buzzing. Salsa band playing, we danced in the street as it was so good! Came back in the evening for cocktails around 6 or 7pm... there were so many ppl smoking out in the back bar, that we had to move indoors. Sad to say the band was a bit dire. Dreary songs and no energy or salsa vibes as perhaps, wrongly, I had hoped for. Waitress was quite rude too. We ended up rushing our drinks and leaving.

The food and drinks for the most part were good but obviously the live entertainment and vibes were what made it. The host was friendly but the servers were a bit inattentive and they were hard to grab their attention. They also never checked in on us. We had two servers, one at our table inside and one outside. They also charge 7% service charge on top of the automatic 18% tip here - which other Miami restaurants don’t do (they just charge 20% automatically). I would come back just for the live entertainment and the outdoor seating in the back. We smoked our cigars there and it was a beautiful setting.

I recently visited ball & chain with high hopes of enjoying a few drinks and having a good time. However, my experience was completely soured by their outrageous pricing, particularly for a single shot.Upon ordering what I thought would be a standard shot, I was appalled to discover that it cost me over $20 each one!!! This exorbitant price left a bitter taste when I looked into my bank statements! Not only was the pricing utterly ridiculous, but it also felt like a blatant attempt to rip off customers. The quality of the drink certainly didnt match the inflated price tag, leaving me feeling completely cheated.I urge anyone considering visiting this club to think twice before handing over their hard-earned money. With such unreasonable pricing, this establishment is clearly more concerned with making a quick profit than providing a fair and enjoyable experience for their patrons. Save your money and find somewhere that values its customers more than its bottom line.

A mixed experience, mostly negative. On one hand the atmosphere was great. The live music was fantastic and the drinks were good.On the other hand, there were issues. One is that prices are very high, even during happy hour (after tax and included service fee easily over $20 per cocktail). I ordered a drink during happy hour (at about 6:35 PM) which ends at 7 PM according to the sign outside, but I was charged full price. The biggest issue was the rude lady from staff. We had been sitting at a table for about 10-15 minutes when she arrived with a reserved sign and gestured that we had to leave. We asked for an explanation as there was no Reserved sign when we sat down. She did not say much. She gave the impression that she could not speak English or could not hear us. She just kept waving the sign at us which she just brought to the table. I can think of many other customer friendly ways to handle such a situation, all of which would have helped us understand. Instead she chose to be rude. The live music made me give a second star as a review score, just barely.

For drinks, we ordered the tobacco infused old fashioned (my fav drink) and the guava sangria (second fav drink). The cuban old fashioned was something I never tasted and it was fantastic. No need. The food was average and the drinks expensive, with 3 draft beers at the bar including tip and a ridiculous service charge costing $36.Food was fine.

Ball and Chain is my happy place in Miami. The lively music, the delicious food, and the welcoming staff always make me feel right at home. A visit to Ball & Chain is always a good time.
