A Do or Dye Salon and Day Spa

I had a great experience in A do or Dye Salon today. My stylist was Valerie, and she made a completely different person out of me just by cutting and styling my hair. I got so many compliments. Unfortunately, I forgot to tip her because where I am from, it is unusual to do so. And now I feel so ashamed. Valerie, if youre reading this, thanks so much, I love my hair more. I hope next time I can show my appreciation more.

I love this salon, have been a customer for more than 10 years. It is clean, very nicely decorated, friendly staff, and generous offerings of tea, coffee, wine. I have baby fine, thin, straight hair which is a bear to deal with and very easy to mess up with the cut. Tina always gives me a terrific cut, and her coloring technique is wonderful and reliable. As far as the prices go, I think they are very reasonable for the service provided. I highly recommend this salon!

Bree was wonderful! I wish she could wash my hair every day! So happy to have found a new spot closer to home

Natalie was a breath of fresh air, very sweet and patient. I never felt rushed at all and the cut came out perfectly.

Stylist: Rylee. Came in without a clue- no idea what to do or how to have it done... left with a color I have hated for years but took her advice. Absolutely love the color and the cut. Ash did an amazing job 🥰 and the price was much lower than expected!

I went here a couple days ago for a European facial and it was wonderful. The scheduling online was quick and easy to do and I had an appointment booked in that same week within minutes. Jenn is who performed my facial. She is incredibly personable, talented, and accommodated for my personal skin needs and allergies. The experience was so relaxing and I left feeling fresh but also with skin education. She provided me with a booklet at the end listing items that would be wonderful for my skins need and with multiple samples to try out as well. Although prices are a bit high for some, they are worth the money and I will be seeing her again as soon as I can!

I had a facial with Jennifer yesterday. The whole experience was wonderful. My skin feels amazing, glowing and I can breath with my skin now! Jennifer is true professional, she explained the products she uses and she gave me helpful skin care recommendations. I can’t wait to come back!

Rylee was my stylist and she did an amazing job on full highlights for me. This has been the best highlights I’ve had done on my hair in a while. I have a lot of hair and it’s really long but Rylee stayed patient and did my highlights very throughly. Rylee may be a level one stylist but she did my hair like a pro and I will definitely be going to her again to get my hair done.

I have always had a great experience here. Isabelle does my hair and it is always what I want and she has great suggestions. I feel like my hair is always healthy because of her suggestions. The place is cool looking and everybody is friendly. I enjoy coming here!

I went to Rylee because my lifelong hairstylist had retired. I’m currently in grad school and got a terrible haircut while in Rochester. I came home and reached out to Rylee, I showed her what I wanted and she gave me exactly that!

All good experiences. The salon is on the second floor in Mt. Airy on Main St. The staff is friendly and Jenn is very good. She listens to what I want and makes suggestions. I have had highlights, lowlights, and haircuts - all good. The salon is starting to show some wear around the full length mirrors that you sit in front of at your stylists station. Also, and this is a big one for me, no one has pushed me to buy product from their little boutique area.

Tina did a great job on my hair. I love the color, and the highlights look natural and well blended. Im also happy with the cut. She listens to what you want and does a great job making it a reality. The salon is welcoming with a nice atmosphere.

Nice space. Eva and Natalie were welcoming. I have been going to the same salon in Frederick for 30+years so a switch is a bit difficult. Will see how the nail service is when I return for that appointment. I was disappointed that I was unable to get hair and nails done at the same appointment.

The salon is good. The only complaint I have is one of the hair stylists, Tracy. I’ve had her 3 times and each time she did not do what I had asked. My last straw was the third time I had her and I asked for a light trim and not only did she take off way too much, she also thinned out my hair (without my knowledge and without asking me). It’s been a month and i still cry looking at my hair every day. Good salon overall, but if u go DO NOT request for tracy.

A friend of mine recommended Jenn, and she is amazing. I have short hair, and its not that easy to have a great haircut. Four weeks later, my hair still looks great.Its a bit of a drive, but totally worth it. Fun salon. I will be back!

My stylist, Anna, did an AMAZING job on my hair (cut and color). I have very thick hair and it’s not the easiest to work with, not to mention the cut I requested is a little more complicated. But Anna did an amazing job and the color is absolutely perfect! Added bonus that Anna is so sweet and we had great conversation. It’s been a day and already I’ve received so many compliments on her work. Highly recommend!

Im a regular, Im always happy with the outcome of my color and cut. The salon does a great job keeping clients apart due to health restrictions.Also,Id like to point out something said in a negative review about tipping. She mentioned that the cashier basically shamed her for giving a $25.00 tip.I have never seen this sort of behavior from the front desk. You cannot add the tip to your credit card. So its either cash,a separate check from the service, or Venmo. Everyone there is very kind.

I love this salon! From hair (I see Adrienne) to nails to massage and spray tans - they are truly the best! I know they offer other services as well, I just havent tried yet. Been going there for many years. Always so friendly and professional. Service is outstanding! I cannot say enough good things about A Do or Dye.

Shoutout to Val for always making my hair look healthy and stylish. And to Jenn for the amazing job at lifting my eyelashes. I love waking up and not having to do anything extra to my lashes as they’re curled to perfection.

A Do or Dye is fantastic to work with! I worked with Regina to do a hair and makeup trial, ended up doing two trials, and she was absolutely fabulous! Since my bridesmaids were almost all from out of town, I set everything up through email and the portal (the email reminders were very helpful, especially with my wedding brain), and we got all five of us in and out within a matter of hours. All the girls loved their hair and makeup, and we went to the wedding looking fierce and fabulous! No matter what I needed, or what inane question popped into my head, A Do or Dye was there with an answer and a hug- I would recommend this salon to anyone looking for 5-star service at good prices!

I was hoping to find a stylist who could perm my hair but was hesitant about get a super tight or over relaxed style. Tina came highly recommended from another stylist and did an amazing job. It was exactly the picture of curl I presented. Couldn’t be happier!!!

Ive been going to John for nearly 10 years! I cannot say enough wonderful things about him and his work. My hair has been spot on every single time i go and its always a wonderful experience. He is kind, caring, and knows exactly what he is doing. I highly recommend him! If you are in the area, go see him!!!! You will not be disappointed.Ps. I am a blonde and that is one hard color to perfect and he does it every time. 10/10.

Amanda was wonderful and worked with me to make sure I got the exact cut I was looking for! John gave me amazing highlights. Every where I go everyone says I LOVE your hair! I cant thank Amanda and John enough. Not only did they work with my schedule but they were professional and accommodating to everything I wanted. I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone!

A high end price salon with a nice feel that doesnt understand the high end customer. Adrienne just could not deliver the color I was looking for. I was obviously not happy with the color but she offered no solutions, except to say that I needed to try different product. This isnt my first rodeo. Brassy color is brassy color. My cuts changed to not what I was looking for at all. This is a great looking salon with a very nice owner. Front desk staff are great. They have some very nice services, although my manicure only lasted for one day. They charge high end prices for a high end salon feel, but they do not know how to please the high end customer who has higher expectations from experiences with top salons. I wont go back again sadly.

Everyone that works here are very nice and welcoming. The prices are reasonable too. I definitely recommend this place for all your beauty needs.Extensions are awesome! Wish I would have discovered them sooner! Spray tan is safe without the harsh sun, which makes your skin look old. Coming up is lashes! Im getting married soon and every time I go in, someone always ask how my plans are coming along. I feel at home here. : )

I went to get my hair dyed silver 5/27, at 1:30. I am 24 and went alone with my home 2 streets over, where my mother and stepdad were waiting, otherwise my mother would have been with me. After the entire process, 3 hours, my hair dresser conceded that my hair was not at all silver and was barely lighter than the color I already was. She offered to color it again for no cost. When I went to pay the bill, the total was $215... And I actually paid $250 because I was trying to be nice and tip her out of the goodness of my heart even though nothing was done to satisfaction, let alone above and beyond. I was at the cashier, and the woman who took my money said, for 3 hours, your only leaving a $25 tip?! Which shocked me because not only could she not do math, I left $35 as a tip, but according to general consensus, the job of dying my hair was not done correctly! No customer is liable for any amount of any tip, it is given upon the service you receive. This is unacceptable and I believe if I didnt look so young, and if she was aware of the mistakes that were made on my hair and conceded to by my hair dresser, that she should never had said a word about how much I chose to tip. If my mother was there, there would have been no tip at all. The way your cashiers treat people needs to be monitored. A tip is above and beyond for good service, which I did NOT receive, by the cashier at the very least. Is it your common practice to tip-shame consumers when they are paying their bill!? When they dont know the whole story?!

Anna was my stylist. She did a great job in giving me a hair cut that was perfect for my face and one that provided body. I am really enjoying my cut. I don’t have to curl it everyday to get body, which I love. She provided knowledge on products that would help lift the roots and provide body. She did not try to over sell any products. I bought some root lifting products and it works perfectly as she stated it would. I am enjoying the color of the highlight although it was not as light as I usual get, but I think it blends much better than the lighter color. I would recommend her to my friends. She did a wonderful job and I will definitely be a return customer. Thank you Anna.

Just found this place. Just wanted to say I love it. Jen did a brow wax and tint and it turned out great. I felt comfortable doing it. I had never done it before she explained the process . I will be back again soon.

I have been going to Adrienne for years for cut and color. Occasional highlights. I have always been happy when I leave. She makes great suggestions, and is very knowledgeable. My hair has never been in better shape. The atmosphere here is a very relaxing one and everyone is very friendly and polite.

I have traveled from Catonsville for several years to Do or Dye. The staff is friendly and I am offered something to drink as soon as I arrive. I always feel comfortable there, and they have fun promotions if you are buying products. The staff is also very involved in the community. I can’t say enough about my stylist, and although we go way back, she still makes sure I am satisfied with my hair. And I always am. :)

Erica is an amazing colorist and stylist! She really listens carefully to what youre looking for and then suggests a few ideas that will match up well with your face shape and your type of hair. Erica has a great artistic eye for color and cut! She is someone that you can trust to get it right EVERY TIME!The salon is beautiful and the entire staff is very friendly and professional! Bree was the sweetest stylist and I loved that she listened to me and understood what I was looking to accomplish. I dont explain myself well, but she easily ready between the lines and I left the salon extremely happy! I highly recommend Bree and will be back to see her again!

Breana Brown the salons new nail tech is amazing. She is very professional, soft spoken, and a great nail tech. Glad to have a permanent go to person to take care of of my nails and located less then 3 miles from my home. Winning!!

After reading a previous review, I felt the need to add my perspective. I believe all of us who go to the salon have the same expectations....to be treated as a high end customer. It should not matter where we came from but how we are treated period. Adrienne is talented and listens closely to my needs. She accepts criticism and offers solutions. My hair does not take to the glazing color. It only lasts a few weeks. She did recognize this and selected a different color with great results. I will return...yes, it is expensive but Adrienne is a delight.

Always beyond happy when I leave here. Tina is amazing. Space is stylish and comfortable and I very much enjoy spending a few hours here.

I moved out of Mount Airy years ago, and still drive back to A Do or Dye for my hair appointments. I have been going to Stefanie S since I was a baby for haircuts! Even though she doesn’t cut my hair anymore, her team is amazing! Kasey has done my hair the past 4 times and I LOVE it every time! I will continue to drive an hour away to keep getting my haircut there!

For the men reading this, book an appointment with Jen M., she is the only person I could find in the state of MD that got my hair style right, on the first try, and has ever since. I drive 30 minutes to visit her, because it is worth it. The salon is great, and welcoming and is the only place I go to now for haircuts.

Surprisingly quiet for being on Main Street! This was my first visit and had an amazing massage. Decor is lovely! Way more than I expected as it doesnt look that spacious from outside! Will absolutely return!

Love this salon. Great staff who meet you at the door with a delightful beverage and the relaxing continues from there. Always sad when my time is done though the style is always fabulous - highly recommend John, but all staff are good at their trade!
