Got tickets to this place from someone talking about it outside about a block away. Definitely felt like a tourist trap once inside. We got the tickets at $25 each, the person originally started at $30 each. The catch is it’s a 2 drink minimum. The cheapest drink is $6, which is water and sodas. Waitress was rude and didn’t end up giving me my change or final receipt at the end of the night. All of the comics got a laugh out of us but only about half were really funny. The comics advertised to be there were not there.
At first appearance, this may seem like a little hole in the wall spot. Maybe even slightly more suspicious when you bend the corner and have to walk down the staircase. But all of the acts were Hilarious! And the drinks were good. So, if a random guy on the street name Jerry stops you and tries to sale you these last minute tickets, buy the tickets. You won’t be disappointed. Lol.
The worst! NEVER AGAIN! I feel totally ripped of! They promote with some big names but you get some terrible rookie comedians in an even worse venue! After the 4th that didnt made me laugh i left. They say the venue has the famous brick wall but it looks like its falling apart and probably got rats. The show is in some shady dark musty basement. And they force you to buy 2 drinks, i paid 16 dollars for 2 bottles of water. After 30 dollars for the ticket! Waitress was rude and kept asking every 5 min to buy my 2nd even though i left early i had to buy 2. Nobody was helpful or even friendly. DONT GO HERE!
We had an awesome time and were positively surprised how much we laughed! It was very clear to us when we got the tickets that we had to order a couple of drinks each. But come on people, get over yourself, you are in NYC, people need to get paid and 1.5h of entertainment by 6-8 comedians cant be for free. We paid $30 for two tickets going on a Tuesday night. Have fun!
I love and enjoy this Comedy club. Every Comedians was good. My hat off to them all!!Some reviews I read before going kind of turned me off. But my experience with my friends was awesome & Fantastic The service was great even though they have 2 drinks policy. I recommend the club to anyone who looking for a good laugh and night out to chill. Ps Here is me with my friends and 3 of the Comedians 💕
It’s a trap for tourists. Tickets online 25$ but with taxes it is as much as on the street: 30$. Nothing against the basement location, but it is so dirty the floor is sticky. You are obligated to take 2 drinks. Overpriced. See the prices list attached. Even if you order food, when I said I had enough with my wine the waiter made me pay 6$ for water. Saw about 6 comedians, 1 was good, 2 awfully bad and the rest average. And then the bill: total + taxes + 18% gratuity included, no questions asked. Some unhappy customers left. I heard it’s all the manager’s decision but “she” was not available…
I went to see a friend audition for a “sponsored” spot. Not sure of the correct terminology. They had way too many comics lined up for one event, or at least should have had an intermission. There definitely is diminishing returns when so many people go one after another. The crowd got tired and stopped interacting as much.
Everything would have been perfect if the 2-drink minimum per person had been communicated while selling tickets for the show. Paying $30 per ticket to listen to some budding stand-up comedians, plus at least $24 for drinks, is a rip-off and, as someone rightly commented, a tourist trap. I’ll be more careful next time when buying tickets.
Started by being conned buying a ticket in time square for a show that started an hour earlier but I was told started in 20 minutes later. People on the door were polite but did not care. Drinks were a rip off. 2 stars because they did get me laughing a bit. Way too amateur. Look for something more professional that doesn’t use touts to swindle tourists. Should have known better.
Loved the comedians. Tickets were pretty cheap $40 for three people - but we each had to pay for a two drink minimum which came out to be more than our tickets $76 before a tip. Good show though. Very small venue.
Got cheap tix for $20 each but with 2 drinks minimum it adds up quickly. There were a couple of average to good comics but the others were terrible and literally escorted off the stage by the host. Avoid as you get scammed into thinking and being told its a comedy store/central thing and promise of known comedians. AVOID
It is always scary when you buy tickets from a guy on the street but i did anyway. I got 2 tickets for $40 (fair price)The stage room was very Dark and you sit very close to the other people. The show was allright some of the comedians was very funny.A thing that annoyed me very much was the staff, wanting me to pay while the comedian was on stage - wait till the show is over guys! It ruin the jokes.
The comedians can be a hit or miss depending on your preferences. For the price paid, I had a great time and would visit again Comfortable seating, 2 drink minimum (can do soda/water to keep the price low). Make sure to try and get a discounted cover charge rate if getting a ticket from the street sales person.
Got fished in to buy a ticket in Times Square from a vendor with a promise that Pete Davidson was the headliner. It sounded too good to be true, and it was.The comedians were good, the place needed a better AC, and its a 2 drink minimum. The staff were super to deal with.Woulda been 5 star had Pete Davidson showed up. :)
We arrived to a really long bathroom line, which was fine, but the bathroom was giving frat house — sticky floors and lack of places to hang up our purses and umbrellas. We were then seated on the stage (not a bad thing, but not expected). The host was cheap with little stage presence but the first comedian?? Managed to hit every red flag in the book. When the waiter/bartender/whatever he was shook my friend’s leg and demanded we place drink orders NOW for a two drink minimum that wasn’t advertised, we got up and left. Given the diverse cast and shows advertised online, we were sorely disappointed. Clearly a reason there were no native New Yorkers in the audience. The group took a vote and decided on two stars.
We had a great time don’t let any of the other reviews tell you otherwise. Yes drinks are somewhat expensive but this is midtown manhattan, what else do you expect. They gotta make money somehow. Included tip tho is not great. 5/7 comedians were really good. Try to negotiate the price if you get it from a promoter we got two for 40 instead of 60. It was a good night.
Great comedy show for a Saturday night. We had a great compere and some serious funny comics.. Nice intimate setting, but with great views throughout the venue. The cocktails pack a punch. Would really recommend this place if you are visiting NYC (you may be offered tickets on Times Square so keep an eye out for that!)
Ticket guys on the street were misleading. Comedians they said would be there, were definitely not. Performers must not have heard the emcees (long) intro--or each others sets--because a lot of the same audience-directed jokes were used.Emcee was funnier than a few of the comics 😬 and one guy was left for dead on stage, well after his 10 mins. Venezuelan kid was good and we enjoyed the headliner (although wed been told by ticket dude that another, well-known comic would be performing). Servers were nice and relatively efficient. But not 18% tip nice/efficient.Definitely not worth $30 + 2 drink min ($6 water-$23 drinks, all watered the hell down) + included 18% gratuity.
I love this place. As NY as you can get. I saw Troy Bond here. I was rolling on the floor laughing. They do a great job with several different comedians from all walks of life. They always have at least one or two female comics which is great
Don’t GO! Scam! Got approached by someone on Rockefeller center and told me it’s a good place better than mid town place better than comedy cellar, westside comedy etc. Best comedy place in NYC. But their comics sucks. Waiters comes in mindset interrupting comics ask you to order. Would not recommend! They hold signs like COMEDY CENTRAL but not related to the TV program at all.
The place smells funny (pun intended) and doesnt give out the best vibe. I went on a Friday at 9PM with very low expectations. But in the end we had two terrible comedians but the rest of them was okay, one of them was even VERY funny even which saved the evening.Theres a mandatory 18% gratuity for drinks and you will be asked to pay in the middle of the show so you will lose part of the show while paying. Theres a two drinks minimum (but theyre transparent about it, its mentioned in the ticket). I didnt dare to go to the toilet. We got scammed by a guy claiming to work for comedy central which sold us tickets on times square. If you want to go to this place just get the tickets online, its cheaper. The problem is not the place, its the absurd promises made by the guy (scammer) selling the tickets. The place is okay even if the place is not great and not all comedians are good
If I hadn’t been lied to when buying the tickets it may be high. Man on time square told me drinks were included! I’m not the only person there that was told that, very angry German man left with his family for that reason. Plus the guy with the tickets had remarks to me about not leaving him a tip!!! NO WAY! Atmosphere is what I expected however didn’t like being rushed and pushed around. Overall it was ok, wouldn’t recommend, wouldn’t go back. With the lying and scamming guess they don’t need my return business though.
We brought tickets to see some comedians and when we got to the venue the comedians were different from what we were told. Cheapest drink was $6 which was water. Initially we were told the water was $3. It was all a bit of a mess. Would not recommend. Bad experience
Very nice space. The comics are pretty good. The only drawback is that there is a cover charge AND a 2 drink minimum, and you have to order both drinks at the same time. I guess this is the new normal.
The comedians were good. The place felt sketch from the entrance and the 2 drink minimum had us out of towners feeling suspicious from the start but we gave it try anyway. The main problem was the bill at the end. They brought the bill during the comedians set and it didnt have a breakdown of the charges, just the total. So we did a breakdown and found the drinks were about 11-13 each which added up correctly, plus tax, but the catch was that we wrote the amount to tip on the receipt. After the show, we asked to review the breakdown, and the tip on their breakdown receipt was actually more than what we wrote on our original receipt we received during the show.
I went there to see cousin Tiera. My friend brought us tickets to attend. Ive never heard of her before, but I tell you this, she is freaking hilarious and authentic. It was worth every penny she made me forget about how tight the seats are in that place. It was another comedy call uncle something. I cant remember his stage name, but he was very funny also. Moreover, I wouldnt purchase food from there it didnt look appetizing. Some people food came out cold. Its a two drink minimum per person. The drinks were cool. I had strawberry margaritas. Do like I did and eat before you get there!!! It is plenty of nice restaurants, diners and bars around there.
We purchased tickets online for a Sunday 7pm show. There was a good line up of comedians and we had a great time. I would definitely recommend the place for anyone looking for laughs on a day out in NYC!Couple of things to note :- Two drinks minimum- Gratuity added to the bill - we didnt realize untill one of our friends pointed it out to us so we dont add more when signing the bill- Service fees for credit card! ( Dint know they expected us to carry cash )Response to owner : our bill included $6+ dollars of service fees and when l asked the waitress about it she said it is credit card processing fees. So either you are not aware of the charges or you are not providing the correct information online.
Note this location sells tickets in bulk to 3rd party vendors. If you buy them ANYWHERE other than through this venue they will not honor them. Myself and several others were told we had been scammed with tickets in hand. THEY ARE AWARE of the scam and still sell these. The vendor even cleared on my credit card receipt as Broadway Comedy. It seemed legit, but avoid getting scammed. I would have loved to see the show and Im sure it is great, but this place NEEDS TO STOP SELLING TICKETS TO 3RD PARTY VENDORS IN BULK.
We were sold tickets by some street person (stupid I know) he sold us the world! We were walking up to the club really hoping it wasn’t a scam… it wasn’t but we walked away wishing it was a scam! The “comedians” other than the MC and the star act were not funny at all, the whole crowd were silent and the “comedians” left the stage very quickly after coming on. The waitress was rude as hell!!! She needs a different job! The toilets were Gross AF! And the drink were extortionate! And…. Minimum of 2 each like who even has that rule??? I would 100% recommend you avoid this place at all costs!
Overall, this was a fun night and most of the comedians were funny. The person who sold us the tickets said it would be in a room with the famous brick wall but it was just a blue curtain. She also named a famous comedian who would be performing, but never did.Drinks were pretty good and reasonably priced. Fries were absolutely terrible.Minus 2 stars for the comedian Aaron Berg. Came on stage wearing the star of David - okay, fine. But then he went on to make SEVERAL anti-Arab jokes. Considering the state of current affairs, these jokes were not okay and were plain racist. Garaunteed that if someone made similar jokes about Israelis, there would be an uproar. He literally made jokes about running over running Palestinians and eliminating them. Not cool and not funny.
Comedy show was good ... drinks had no liquor in it when we paid for non-Virgin drinks. Food was Pizza which was ok and nachos with Shredded Cheese microwaved. We were NOT impressed with food but comedians were great.
This is great and affordable for domestic live entertainment! Drinks are affordable and the show is exciting and hilarious! This is a great place to bring your children as well! Weekends are a little busy but worth going for sure!
They allow third-party Individuals to sell their tickets on the streets, and these people lie about who’s performing…but on the flip side the few guys that we met that were actually from the comedy club afterwards were great and honest!
Really stay away from this. The comedians are great and worth the money. But the organization force you to pay gratuity and service cost, not by choice but they’ll try to impress you with three men and force you to pay what they want.Again the comedians are good and deserve better!
Visited the Broadway Comedy company in May 4. They had more than 10 comics. Some had more experience and others had less. One comedian was doing his first ever on stage performance—he did read his lines from his phone. The price to get in was only 30 per person but they had a two drink minimum. They seat you toward the front and encourage audience participation. They want a high level of energy so the MC will keep encouraging the energy to be high. Some of the comedians were quite funny while others not so much.I would repeat.
This experience was NO scam! Had such great laughs during the show and would recommend and do it again! You never know who you will see in line up. My partner and I had a great time and was the highlight of the night! Yes, there is a two drink minimum but that is normal at all comedy clubs and drinks range from $6-$12 non alcoholic and alcoholic. We got our tickets from Sammie in Times Square and explained us the whole event, never felt scammed! Show up early if you want to sit in front and be heckled at. No attire required and good for those 16 and up!
Had a great time!!! Drinks were surprisingly reasonably priced. They had more comedians on stage than they were required to, which ensured a great time by all. The Asian lady was on Fire🔥.**This club has a long history of producing great shows. So Im happy they withstood the Corona ShutDowns that closed all the other midtown comedy clubs.
I loved this place it is definitely one of the funniest comedies shows I have been too. They did a good job keeping the crowd engaged. At first I was hesitant because of the bad reviews but here is a good one for you guys you must go if you are in New York
As a last minute decision, my boyfriend and I went to this comedy club. We called and they said they take walk ins, which they do. But, I would arrive 30 minutes before the start time as it becomes packed super quick. 4/5 of the comedians were super funny. I had a good time. They have a rule where you have to buy two drinks minimum per person, but the drinks were cheaper around 6-10$ compared to nyc usual 15$ drinks so I didn’t mind. My boyfriend said the drinks were super strong too and we both had a great time. The seats were super close together to everyone though which is one negative since I got accidentally kicked a few times so just be spacially aware of your seats. They also had this viral TikTok guy which was cool to see in person. I would definitely come again!
Put this on your list anytime you come to NYC! $25 entry with two drink minimum. Long Island Ice Teas are only ~$10!!!Downstairs venue is dark and brutalist design - very cool. A little tight but still comfortable.MC and other acts were great and constantly involved the audience. I could not stop laughing! (I would come back even to just watch the MC that dude is 10/10 funny!)
This is a Tourist Trap Scam, this business either has private contractors or vendors who work in Times Square saying they are affiliated with Comedy Central Network, a subsidiary of Paramount Global Network. The street vendor promised big headline acts, that there would be 2 free drinks included in the price of the ticket, which was a total lie, you have to buy 2 drinks. They are run of the mill bottom of the barrel comic jokes. I am forwarding this information to the NYC Consumer Fraud Office for the Attorney General and also contacting Paramount’s Legal Department to get a cease and desist order for any violations of impropriety involving Comedy Central’s Logo, signage, etc to avoid confusion, misleading customers, to stop fraudulent advertising sales…
We booked this because we wanted to have a fun night out in New York in august 2023. We had a good time and some good laughs and other stand ups were not that good but still overall had a good time. The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 is because of the standard 2 drinks per customer policy and the tip that is automatically added to the bill. So keep this in mind when going here.
The comics were actually funnier than I expected and we had a great time laughing. I’m giving this 2 stars because they automatically add 18% to your bill for gratuity despite the number of people in your party and then they give ANOTHER tip option when they get you to sign your bill. Feels pretty shady and grabby to try to double dip for tips.
Place is nice. Comedians are great. But they use scam tactics in the check. They hide the fact that they added gratuity already (itemized in the middle, so you wont notice) and then ask for an additional tip as well. They probably hope that due to the two drinks minimum, and the lighting, you wont notice. Shameful
We had a friend who was performing here and decided to go to their show. There are 2 rooms, the main room and a smaller performing room, so two shows can run at the same time. Dont worry about getting there early...they seat you 10 minutes prior and there isnt a good spot to wait other than crowded in a hallway. As typical, there is a 2 drink minimum...stick to the non-prepared drinks and youll be fine (ie bottles and cans). The acts are fast with several comedians, many just starting out...so maybe not a funny as some of the bigger name places.
We booked our ticket which they called free , which does not show anywhere that seats arent guaranteed. And where we have to drink at least two drinks ( at least 20 $) - not free after all - we were excited to go and wactch the show. Then the american lady with bald face telling us you cannot enter because you have a free ticket. With no consideration, and no empathy, and not even admitting they made a mistake of not informing us earlier.
I’ve been to many comedy clubs, and this one is by far the worst one I’ve ever been too, I guess I should of read all the one star reviews first before going there,,Its truly an underground comedy club “it’s literally in a basement” so if you are in crutches or a wheelchair it’s not the place for you, let’s start with the cons and pros.Cons:1. Not the fanciest or best looking venue/atmosphere.2. Hard and uncomfortable chairs.Staff doesn’t seem very friendly or welcoming. No smiles or greetings.3. I wouldn’t eat any food there by the looks of the place, or drinks, I think the safest is maybe the bottled water. Which has a weird brand to it that said village comedy club on it, and some 1 star reviewers wrote the drinks were being spiked before it was bought to the tables so I’m glad I ordered the sealed water bottle.4. And this is the most con of all,, all the comedians were bad, and I mean really bad, not 1 single laugh from me and most of the audience wasn’t laughing either, seems these comedians are all brand new trying to start to be comedians.5. The person I came with decided to order food when we got there which was about 6:15 in fact we were the only people there aside from a man and women that was already there, we got there 45 minutes before the show started to get good seats and to order food. By 7pm the show started and it was crowded with people and still no food, yet the tables in front of us all got there food before us even though they arrived late, I guess because it was a party/group of about 10-20 of school teachers they got preferential treatment, my friend complaint to the waitress about why the delay in food? Then the food arrived about 15 minutes later. They just simply forgot about us or didn’t care, and it was just nachos and cheese, you think they went to China to get it.6. My friend asked to speak to the manager about the long wait for food, next thing I know we are paying and leaving the establishment because we were not enjoying the show, on the way out, the manager assumed my friend didn’t pay and yelled she didn’t pay, call the cops, which was totally uncalled for because we would never leave any establishment without paying, in fact I saw when my friend handed the credit card to the waitress and when the waitress came back with the printed receipt and I observed when my friend signed it and gave it back, the manager should of not assumed that she didn’t pay and should of first speak with the waitress before yelling “ you didn’t pay and shouting to the staff “call the cops.” It was embarrassing and uncalled for.You want a good comedy club go to Gotham comedy club on 23rd street in Manhattan or to levity live inside palisades mall in west nyack New York.Pros:1. prices for tix wasn’t expensive compared to other comedy clubs, but I see why.2. The manager did discount the nachos from the bill when my friend had 1st mentioned about the delay in food arriving….that’s before the manager assumed she didn’t pay.In all fairness about the 2 drink minimum I noticed allot of reviews wrote that it’s a scam, rest assured it’s not,,, most comedy clubs do have a 2 drink minimum,,, and thats most likely because they have to pay rent for the establishment they have to pay the staff and the comedians. After all it is a business.Anyway that was our experience at this place, I wish it would have been a pleasant one, unfortunately it wasn’t. And we will never return to it or recommend to anyone.
DO NOT GO THERE!!We fell for the promises of a guy on Times Square using the logo of Comedy Central! It has nothing todo with it!!Can only repeat what all other one-star feedbacks already mention!BARELY GOOD JOKES, actually only one of the comedians was really good…all others had to mostly beg for claps.WHAT YOU ARE NOT TOLD…YOU NEED TO HAVE AT LEAST 2 DRINKS PER PERSON. plus FEE FOR CREDIT CARD PAYMENT and FORCED GRATITUDE will great you from your final bill! For us that added up to 64$ for a couple of Sodas and Water…Very sure there is far better ways to spend an evening in Manhattan!!
Do. Not. Go. To. This. Club. The comedy was the worst I had ever seen in my entire 50 years on this planet, and that’s not even the worst part. Being a local New Yorker, I usually feel safe enough going out with my girlfriends to a comedy club. I figured this club would be no different. WRONG! My girl friend and I both had our drinks spiked. Our drinks were in sight/in our hand the entire night, so no one else could have done it except for this club. Absolutely disgusting behavior by the club. Please, do not give your hard earned money to a company that spikes girls drinks.
Show was solid and deserves 4 stars but I refuse to give that due to solely the crummy scammers in times square trying to sell tickets. Lied about who he works for, where the club was, what the place looked like and who was attending. Learned my lesson and wont ever be buying tickets on the street again. Also, $6 for a water is insane!!!
They didn’t honor a reservation that was made so me and my girlfriend were turned away after planning our night to catch a show. Offered us a different show time which would have been nice if we didn’t live 3.5 hours away. Seemed like a ok establishment besides that. Would recommend to give this place a college try.
The venue itself is exactly what I expected. In regard to other reviews commenting on this place, its just a simple comedy club. My bf and I did not visit the bathrooms so I cant comment on them. The drinks were just ok. This place would 100% benefit from a bartender or at least someone who knows how to properly make a Long Island Iced Tea or a Moscow Mule. They offer some simple bar food type of food but we didnt get any. Now, for the most important part of my review: thr comedians. In all honestly, I expected them to be funnier. The host could def do better. There were about 3 really funny comdians with great delivery and timing who really save the show for everyone else whos still trying to nail their act. Im sure being a stand-up comedian is not easy at all! Im not sure that Id go back to this particular comedy club. Ive been to others with funnier comedians. Its a solid maybe. (Shrug) The tickets sold on the street are legit.*Important: If buying tix on the street, negotiate to 2/$40 or $20/ticket, or an even better price if in a larger group.
We bought tickets from Tony in Times Square, we were a little skeptical at first but we did it anyway. We got to the club about 30 minutes early and were sat right up front, everyone was absolutely hilarious and we especially loved the MC, whose name I unfortunately don’t remember, Audrey Moore, and Crenshaw. We will definitely be visiting next time we come to the city. It was the perfect end to our trip!
I like the small cozy club for comedy. The show was good. Some comedians are new and not very comfortable on stage but all gave us a good laugh. I notice a very diverse set of comedians. Good job on that.
Nice for comedy experience. The guy who sold our tickets lied and said the show didnt start until ah hour when we first bought the tickets and when we got there the people at the door said it been started about 30 mins already. So it just that they like to lie to tourists (or people they THINK that are tourist)
We enjoyed the show, however seating was tight. If there were 2 less chairs at each table, it would have been more comfortable. Glad I didnt order food, ackward eating so close to the person next to you. Theres a 2 drink minimum per person, drinks are reasonably priced. Only 2 bathrooms, by the end of the night they got a little messy & no mirror. I thought the show was too long, over 2 hours, hard to pay attention for that long,!
Unimpressed given the cost of tickets and forced two drink minimum which of course the street sellers never mention. Felt bullied to get a drink as soon as we got in and asked to wait a bit since we just ate, but instead some other guy comes and threatens to call the management as I “was not being compliant”.Two of the comedians were good, rest were ok at best, mediocre experience at best. Lackluster venue, terrible bathrooms and mixed drinks more like ice and water….Set your expectations low and eat/drink before you go.
The vibe was nice! Some of the comedians however (1-2) felt like they didn’t even want to be there and were super monotoned the whole time which made it hard to vibe with the act. The food portions are ridiculously tiny for the price especially for America! The drinks are decently priced, just felt bad for people next to us that ordered margaritas and they were given drinks with no alcohol in it haha.
There are a lot of bad reviews out here but I think that expectations have to be set up front. This is not one of the 2-3 primary comedy clubs in NY where the top stars perform. This is however an alternative and worth the little bit of money they charge and goes to supporting comics trying to make it or learn the craft. It seems like buying tix on the street, and even more so, getting free tickets on the street cause many issues as there are limited seats for these discounts and possibly misinformation by the folks providing these free tickets. If you buy the tickets online @$25 you will get in and get a seat no hassles. From what I can tell all of the seats have good views. You will be charged for two drinks, 18% gratuity and tax. $9.00 for a Bud isnt great but its about right for Manhattan. If this is all too expensive for a comedy show, then I would avoid it. But if you want a few laughs consider it. It was $110 total for the seats, 4 drinks, tip and tax.We saw six comedians. Two were extremely new at it. They struggled. A laugh here and there. Three had some experience. They are still honing their crafts but they had bits that were funny! One guy was a pro. The headliner. Hilarious! Not a bad 90 minutes all in.
We paid $20 ea for tickets thats OK. The acts were so bad I want my money back. Their unfunny routines included admonishing the audience for not laughing. Heres a hine, be funny and we will respond accordingly. Asking audience members for input in the hope they might give you material is lazy. My advice. Save your cash.
Avoid! It is a scam. It is a tourist trap! After they sold me the ticket, they told me I had to buy two drinks at least. And a bottle of water asks for $6+++. After sneaking in a lot of nonsense charge including mandatory gratuity, they still have the face to ask for tip, on top of a $16+ bill for two bottle of waters, which is the least I was forced to spend. Shameless to its max!And here is worst part: the server used my credit card to cover her mouth when she coughed.
This place is absolutely garbage. All the people are snobby pretentious and racist. They will talk about you like you aren’t even there then make fun of stereotypes that only make you feel worse. The older comics are especially worse and nobody understands the concept of a good joke but tickles around a joke that only pertains to a certain audience and mentally downgrades everyone else. The worse part about this place is that the comics don’t know anything and depend solely on the audience for their jokes, I could understand being underprepared but to the point that it starts affecting someone’s sanity. The building is beautiful, the people need to learn how to be better.
I’m visiting NYC for the first time and this was one of my stops! I purchased tickets from Samanthia in Times Square. First off she was amazing and things were just as she stated. We stopped in earlier then our showtime and met a comedian who provided free seats to us. The drinks were great!!! I’ll definitely visit again
BE WARNED!!! Our night was ok until the 2 girls in our group got their drinks spiked. We watched their drinks all night so we think the bar had something to do with it. With hundreds of fun things to do in NY I would avoid this club at all costs.
What a dump of a club2 drink minimum is uncalled For and the waitress was ticked off when I didn’t order another drink before I was halfway done the first one. (Water counts so we got that for 2nd)The headliner had to use notes.Felt much more like open mic night.Go anywhere else because this place is a joke.
We had 5 Comedians with around 12 mins each, only 3/5 were funny, 2 of them didnt succeed in getting a single laugh out of the audience, and those 2 were laughing at their own jokes!Cost was around $38!Definitely not worth the money!
Fell for the stupid Times Square reseller, he first told us $30 a person for my husband and I. We started to walk away and he said the tickets were just going to go to waste and that he would just sell them to us for $30 total. He said show starts in 15min but he would text them our reservation. We ran over to the comedy show and once we arrive there were others in a line to enter. Then a gentleman came out and said “sorry guys there are no more seats”. Everyone was confused since everyone in line had tickets to the show. The refused to offer any refunds and told us to come back another time. We told them we had reservations and they told us they didn’t have any reservations in our name.
The show was engaging and fun! Students laughed the entire time. It was a real treat for students . The performers were attuned to their audience and it was an all around great experience! If you have not yet given them a try, you should!
This rating is about the club - not the comedians. This venue is cheap and disgusting. I felt like I was in the basement of a cheap church at a cheap wedding. The line to get into the comedy room treated guests like you were in a line to collect a welfare check. I was seated at a table next to a pole so that I could hardly reach the table to set my drink on it. Like most comedy clubs you had to buy 2 drinks. I bought 2 frozen strawberry Daiquiri’s. They were served in a clear plastic cup with a straw and barely had alcohol in them. Everything about this place was cheap. Lastly, out of the 7 comedians, only 1 of them was actually funny. I do not recommend this place.
The show started an hour and a half after doors opened which was even later than the time that was originally published in the event info, so I had to walk around outside for a half hour before doors opened and then wait for another hour and a half for the show to start. There was not enough seating so they sat entire families on stage behind the comedian with light shining in their eyes and no tables - making both the comedians and the guests uncomfortable. Also, they made me order both of your drinks when I sat down but took 45 minutes to bring the first one. The second one came much later well after I finished the first drink. In the servers defense, there was only one server working for the entire club. Im pretty sure he was the one mixing the drinks too. They need to hire more servers and didnt - consistent with their cutting-corners high-priced experience. There were not enough tables so basically everyone had to share small tables with other guests or keep their drinks on the floor. Also there was no food served. I went here for what I had hoped would brighten my spirits on Christmas Eve and was very disappointed. The comedians werent even funny but I stuck around to see if it would get better. It didnt. Definitely not worth the $65 I paid for the ticket and the money spent on drinks. Better to go see a broadway show with that money or anything else.
Definite Tourist Trap! Comedians are decent, the drinks and food are horrible! Went last night got nachos which was microwaved chips and cheese with pace brand salsa out of a can/bottle.Ordered two shots, they had a house tequila which was more like tequila flavored water that might be 5% alcohol at best.Asked the waitress how strong the hard alcohol was, she expected us not to like it, said theres a drink minimum, which Im used to at comedy clubs and ended paying $50 for chips and cheese and bottled water. They gave me red tickets which showed I did adhere to the drink minimums and could leave the show. What place has to give you tickets to be able to leave? Its obviously a scam.If you do decide to go here which I dont recommend, stick to bottled beer and come on a full stomach.
Good night out enjoying some amateur and upcoming comics within an intimate NYC Manhattan setting. Table service for drinks is appreciated but give the subpar food a miss. This place has potential if they had a proper bar with honest drink prices. On the night I attended the comics were borderline ok, entry was $12.50 via TodayTix for 11pm Late Night Laughs. Basic drinks at venue are $8-$10 as of June 2018.
Thoroughly enjoyed this show! Be careful who you buy tickets from. I think do not buy them from the sellers in red jackets - perhaps they are who is scamming people? We bought from a guy with a broadway comedy sign in Times Square and the tickets worked fine. Two drink minimum does make things expensive. Small selection of food (sliders, fries, cheese pizza etc.) available for purchase.Overall this was a fun night out and I would recommend it as something different to do in the evening around Times Square 🎉
Good comedians. Mixed drinks were not very good but they did bringbus beer in a bottle to replace the drinks.Service was good as well.
My boyfriend and I had a fun time here. We got two tickets for $30 from a charismatic guy just a couple blocks off Times Square that could be used at anytime. They were very persistent about their two drink minimum which was fine by us as they weren’t too expensive in comparison. There was like 6-7 comedians, all of which were pretty funny. Our server was nice and quick which was impressive considering how many people she was serving. We went halloween weekend so it wasn’t as packed as other reviews say, so we didn’t feel crammed. Rated it 4 stars cause it was a little dingy. We’re not fancy people so it didn’t bother us much, kinda gave it a classic NYC feel but could see how others might not love it. Would recommend, especially if you can get a deal off a promoter on the street.
Horrible service. Horrible food. Rude people. Over priced. Not honest with their prices. Charged double on the street than at the door. Try another theater. Don’t waste your money. Left halfway through.
Overall, really enjoy the evening. Nice, authentic atmosphere; felt very New York ish. 75% of comics were hilarious. The other 25% were still good, just not as good if you know what I mean!Annoying that there is a 2 drink minimum spend requirement - it felt a little predatory when the servers enforced us to order a second drink, I hadnt even finished my first. So felt a little rushed to chug down two glasses of Pinot Grigio / beer for my partner. We probably would have had two drinks whether there was a requirement or not and enjoyed them in our own time. The drink selection was fine - nothing remarkable - but a good enough selection.Only caveat to the whole experience is we were approached on Times Square and talked into buying the tickets for $20 each for a VIP evening. Given the hard sell, we walked away and took two minutes to think about it. When we came back after discussing, we were given the tickets for free. After investigating further online, we discovered you can register yourself for the evening for free on Eventbrite. Would have been pretty irritated to have paid $20 each, as we didnt feel $20 would have been good value for money + the minimum spend on drinks. Just something to consider...!Having said all this, we would definitely go again and would recommend the evening for anyone looking to have a good, casual laugh in a friendly, convivial, atmospheric environment. Its a pleasure to support comedians - you can tell they love what they do and have a fun time on stage, engaging with the audience.
I came here last night with my 2 teenage daughters. We had a great time and it was a good experience for them. The 3 of us all got 2 non alcoholic drinks per person. The total of that with tip was $60.There are people giving bad reviews for the 2 drink minimum, but we knew about going into this place.
Good thing to do in New York , tickets might seem a bit overpriced but if you haggle for them will get them cheaper . Some comedians funnier than others went 3 different times was great each night .
My wife and I love going to comedy clubs, but this was the first time we’d been to BCC. We went on a Thursday night in August, we found a useful discount on the BroadwayTix app.It was a smallish crowd, but the comics were saw were all pretty good and some really stood out. The host was the very funny Troy Bond (it just sounds like a fake name, he said).Standard two-drink minimum... The kitchen was under inspection the night we visited, so no snacks for sale.My one complaint about all comedy clubs (where we are exposed to 6-7 comics in two hours) is that they make no effort for us to remember (or even hear properly) the names of the performers. The Voice of God says the host’s name too fast; the host says each comic’s name too fast; the comics say their names at the end too fast. I only know the host’s name because is asked him by shouting from the seats. Some of us would love to follow some of these folks on social, hear about their careers, find YouTube clips, search for comedy albums, etc. NO SUCH LUCK! Please work on this, comedy clubs! Otherwise, a fun night for both of us.
Very cool little venue. A little cramped, but hey - its New York. Price of admission was just two drinks. There were two comedians that were very funny. Overall, if youre looking for something to do, try it out!
The service was really good, and the drinks were very strong and quite frankly, surprisingly inexpensive for being in the Times Square area
Marketed to us as having far more known talent. Still fun, funny, not what we expected however.
I liked some of the comedians. Only 3 out of 7 so it was okay. Wouldnt come back. Drinks are horrible.. Selection is small
Tourist trap. Had a list for well known comedians and when we showed up there were a bunch of mediocre ones. Crammed into a tiny room with a bunch of people. You HAVE to buy 2 drinks per person, and the cheapest ones are $8 (it was $32 for 4 non alcoholic drinks). Dont bother going unless you want to waste your money on drinks that arent worth the price.
A really enjoyable 90 mins with 7 comedians and a great atmosphere. Its a small venue but packs in the laughs with audience participation and is great value for money.
Fun place to spend and hour. Comics were good and liked the speed of show ad we were able to see 7-8 in and hour and a half
A little side note for people with disabilities. This is not disability friendly. They pack you into a small room like sardines and there is a two drink minimum. Which is not bad all the drinks are like $10 a piece. They make you wait up a flight of stairs for the show to start. So like normally a line would be wrapped around outside until the show starts but it actually goes up 3 or four flights of stairs. (Not very Older people and disability friendly). The show itself was amazing!!!! The comedians kinda made up for the front door fiasco. Also at the end gratuity is included in the bill. So read the fine print! I promise this is not a post for bashing I loved the show just spreading awareness for the disable and elderly interested in coming to view a show! Much love
Lots of laughs, tasty drinks, no frills fare offered. They offered us a decent group rate for our large party.
The comedy was honestly pretty good, but they are running a scam with these prices. Drinks listed at $9 or $10, but then with “processing fees” suddenly your bill doubles. Absolutely ridiculous- if you want to charge a lot for drinks, please tell me up front so I know what I’m getting in for.UPDATE: Since the owner wants to discredit me, lets do the math shall we?Friend and I ordered the minimum 2 drinks each, all $9. $36 bill. Check comes, and it is $48.86. NY Sales tax is 4%, they said they did an automatic gratuity of 18%.$36 x .18= $6.48$36 x .04= $1.44That gives us a total of $43.92 (keep in mind they were asking for a tip on top of this- it was only after I pointed out we were being overcharged that I was informed of this automatic gratuity.) So your credit card fee is ~11.2%? Fascinating considering they are usually 2-3% everywhere else. And I will once again say that they requested a tip on top of this amount, assuming I would be naive enough to pay. I think scam may have been a bit harsh, but inflated prices and ridiculous fees is a valid statement.
Friend and I had fun. Drinks are a bit expensive. 2 minimum drink (standard in other venues in LA, Philly, Chicago, etc.)On my way back to our hotel 6 blocks down I forgot my phone. Thankfully the doors were still opened and the nicest lady had it secured in the back room I almost had a panic attack.Great vibe and experience, pricey beer but hey its Manhattan.
Nice place to see some stand up comedy. Theres 2 drink policy to get in as well as an entrance fee. Place is somewhat small but the artist were top
Well if you buy a ticket from some of the nice dudes, there will be some sort of comedy but that whole thing is nothing more than a tourist scam with overpriced beverages, a cheap location and very unfriendly staff
It was real fun. You have to drink 2 drinks and ticktes are 30$ for 1.5 hours. Maybe it is more expensive on other days. We have been there at Thursday. the crowed was realy diverse, I enjoyed that. Staff was friendly and the show was excellent. I wanted to order a 3. drink but they brought the bill and run away. Maybe you can get an other one if you are not in first row. Drinks kost 9$ -15$ (alcoholic) or cheaper for non alcoholic.
The club itself is smaller than I expected. I guess the word would be intimate if you wanted to view it as a positive. The comics for the night were funny enough to be entertaining. There is a two drink minimum ,but the prices are more reasonable than youd guess.
First time visit to a comedy club. Just a couple of people from Holland visiting one of the greatest clubs for a laugh an some nice drinks. Thanks and see ya next time.
Well that place its 😕 ugly and drinks are warm, basemand was like ....... its not a place to be comfortable, BUT the show was amazing thank god
Poor. The venue was terrible. Staff were rude, you can’t leave until you have brought two over priced drinks.
Very fun experience here. My friends and I were cracking up the whole time at most of the performances. I did see some people walk out because they didnt like some of the jokes being made. Lighten up a little!
I typically read reviews before purchasing, but I guess I got drawn in by the website and reported line-up. The place appears to have seen better days, and the owners are riding on past reputation. It smells like an ashtray as you enter and go to the dungeon, where you are seated at long tables with strangers. The overpriced drinks used low quality alcohol. It may not be a scam, but seemed like a bait and switch as far as comedian line-up. Only the last comedian onstage seemed like a professional who gave a damn about entertaining the audience. Most of the others seemed like they just needed to fill time to get a paycheck. Amateur stand up clubs have better jokes, audience interaction, and timing. Definitely not a place I would recommend to others.
Terrible service at the front doorBought a ticket online. Arrived a few minutes after doors open and was told I couldnt enter the show because the seats had been given away.Would not recommend this venue.
Well, I too fell for the scam. Last night, we faced a disappointing situation after purchasing tickets from a Times Square reseller for a supposed midnight comedy show. The 2 tickets cost us $50, an amount we hoped would guarantee a memorable night in New York. However, upon arrival at the venue, we were informed that no late-night shows were scheduled. To make matters worse, when we requested a refund at the door, we were told that it wasn’t possible. Instead, they suggested we attend a show on a different night. This solution was unfeasible for us, as it didn’t align with our travel itinerary. We are now out $50 with nothing to show for it. This experience was a significant letdown and a cautionary tale about purchasing tickets from resellers in Times Square for late-night events. We hope for a prompt resolution and a full refund from the venue. We will update this review to reflect any response or action taken by them.—Edit: the venue responded to my emails. They are aware of the issue, but unable to issue a refund as the ticket sellers are unauthorized and they were not paid directly by the ticket scalpers. They’re willing to comp my show, but that doesn’t help given that the money is already spent, and we don’t live in New York and weren’t able to go at all.
Nice comedy, but be aware that you must buy 2 drinks per person here which will cost you about $ 15 to $ 20.
This is a hole in the wall comedy club that’s located in a basement. The food tastes like frozen microwave servings…not very appeasing. Drinks were okay. Entertainment was cool. Our group only paid $5/person for the show, so we definitely got what we paid for.
Id rather be poisoned than have to go to another show here. wow. i can’t describe how unfunny these acts are! there seems to be barely any material. and the service is horrendous! you have to wait in a line all the way up the stairs sweaty, warm, and gross! the 2 drink minimum is normal, but incredibly overpriced here (6$ for water?!) and the drinks come late and the server is rude to you. the old lady working the counter questions you when you try to escape this horrible event claiming she’s asking what could be improved but really she’s just borderline harassing you! also, the venue is unappealing and looks nothing like the photos on the website which is clearly either old or edited.here comes the rude owner who will tear me apart for commenting about real concerns that can easily be fixed if you’re not a cheapo!!!!p.s. go to new york comedy cellar for better entertainment and service!
Had a great time here. The room was a little tight: there were so many people in the audience they had to put chairs on the stage. Of course that led to some opportunities for the comedians to comment on. Two drink minimum but that is pretty much the standard for comedy clubs (at least the ones Ive been to). The comedians were excellent (there were many of them), including the host - also a comedian - and I remember Carmen Lynch who went first to be the best.
The seating is very close to one another and theres not enough tables for everyone so I put my drinks on the stage. Besides that, the staff members are really nice and the comedians who performed were really funny (even when they had to recover if a joke didnt land). Overall, I had a great time and would go again.
What a terrific evening! We got a group rate that was amazing, especially in midtown manhattan, and a good time was had by all!
I was at the basement. Pretty good environment, sometimes they have other shoes going on at the same time for free so if you head up earlier for you show, sometimes you can get an access to other presentations! The basement was well aired, they have tv screens on each columns, good light and a good food and drink menu!
We were on our way to a different comedy club when we were approached by a salesman in Times Square and bought tickets to this place instead. The guy who sold them to us told us they were lifetime tickets and we could reuse them for life, that they dont expire, just like the lol comedy club tickets we have. We arrived and handed them our tickets. They refused to give them back and said they had no idea what we were talking about and told us to go find a seat. There is a 2 drink minimum as there usually is with comedy clubs. Our bill was around $140 for 4 people. Plus what we paid for the 4 tickets. Not complaining, just letting others know what to expect budget wise when coming. The show was very cram packed, and nothing notable happened. In fact, it was relatively lame and boring. So boring that Im taking the time to write this review while the show is still going. It has lasted about 2 hours now. The worst part for me was that the BATHROOMS WERE ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. NY bathrooms are gross, but these were over the top DISGUSTING. I would not recommend and will not be coming back..
Staff was accountable / and the place was clean and ran professionally. I would suggest anyone in N.Y for vacation or anyone in the neighborhood come enjoy some laughs and up lift the spirit. I suggest not to buy tickets off the streets, because they are put behind tickets brought on the internet/ given first preference. Also if you are late coming to the show your ticket will be sold. So if you think you will be late come register first, then you will be let in.
Bought a ticket in Times Square. Arrived to the show a few minutes early, waited in line, and was able to get a seat. I had a nice time here. The comedians were funny. Something to remember is there is a 2 drink minimum purchase with each ticket.
Cramped but good atmosphere, comedians very mixed in quality. Only two toilets and a big queue…go before you arrive!
Small, cold and over priced! Only 1 good act the night we were there!
Good intro to a bunch of up + coming comics as they hone their acts. Slow service on drinks, but they are well-priced, so worth the wait. Great activity for meeting up with friends for a fun evening.
I bought a ticket over 10 years ago and was able to use it to get in last week. Their tickets really dont expire!
I visited this club to see a friend do standup on a Friday night. The tables are very close to the stage. The waitstaff were a bit slow to manage everyone. It would be wise to hire more people. The mule I ordered was strong in alcohol but lacked a lot of flavor. Itd be better if it had a bit more taste.Overall, the comedians were kinda funny. Id go back to see my friend again.
The talent--EJ Speaks-- was PHENOMENAL!!!!! The venue? MUCH to be desired-- they packed us in there like sardines in a can... Luckily for us the couple we sat next to was VERY sweet... But damn! They couldnt get another living creature in there if they tried... The cocktails (Theres a 2 drink minimum) were much to be desired-- Yet the chicken tenders and handful of fries were decent... But again... EJ? Bravo Sis♡Long story short, would I go again? If I were compensated-- maybe... And thats putting it mildly🙄
It was my first time at a comedy club. Had a great time. The only complaint is, it would have been nice of the seats in the back were a bit taller than the ones in the front. Otherwise, staff was polite, drinks were on point, and service was quick.
Pretty much what I expected. A 2 drink minimum and occasionally funny jokes.
The comedians were great. The server was pushy and rude. The drinks were terrible. I have never got heartburn instantly from a beverage. I would love to see the comedians in a different venue
We had a great time. The staffs try hard to make it an enjoyable evening. 2 drinks minimum is literally a standard in the US and the drinks were good and cheaper than anywhere around Broadway. Had 5-7 comics, some great and some not so much but a free entertainment for an hour and a half in nyc it was great experience.
My girlfriend and I chose to come here because one of the headliners supposedly worked on SNL we got there early and were given the worst seats in the house. Then about half of the comics were unprepared open mic comics (one literally said I’m not prepared and wrote his set on the way there). Some comics were good but for a $110 night for two tickets and (mandatory) minimum two drinks each it was definitely a rip off. Oh and the SNL headliner didn’t even show up
AWFUL experience. The people who work here are TERRIBLE. Extremely mean and rude to me and multiple guests. This place needs to be shut down.
Worst experience. Do not come here! Workers were very very rude to me and multiple guests. Do not support this business they do no deserve to have anyone’s money.
The 2h shows with the 7 performers was so funny !The cons, we pay 25$ each from one of their official street seller and some peoples pay 10$, that’s not fair !Behind the ticket it was specify free appetizer but the waiter refuse to honor it and said that it was not include...Cocktails (from 9$ to 12$) are good, for unknown reason the first one was big and the second one half size... (same price)
We are from New Zealand and went Tuesday (12 March). We absolutely LOVED it. So funny! Would definitely go back!
We wanted to do something different instead of watching broadway shows. We had such a great time here. You do get a few comics with different styles but they were all pretty good. Some are definitely more experienced than others. There is a 2 drink minimum so plan on spending an extra $20 on top of the tickets. The crowd was energetic when we were there so that definitely added to the vibe. The location was also easy to get to.Will definitely add this to our future visits permanently.
Most comedians were really funny. Loved it and I’d go back in a heartbeat.I had tears laughing with a couple of them.Comedians rock ❤️
Come at least a half an hour before your show time as the place fills up pretty quickly on weekends. The Groupon gives you a good discount, one free drink per person (you will be expected to buy another one during the show), and an admission to a future show. The club offers some fast food, about a dozen of common cocktails and a half a dozen of simple wine varieties, each one for $ 10. The service is not quick. Long lines for the restrooms... But chances are you will like at least some of the jokes told by five different performers.
I auditioned here and I got spots. I love everything about this place so far!!! Comics definitely need to know about Broadway Comedy Club!
Worst experience at a comedy club ever. What a scam. Our tickets said no reservation needed at the bottom. Despite this the lady collecting tickets said we needed a reservation so we could only get in to see some amateur comedians if we were lucky enough to still get a seat. They wouldnt give us our money back. There was a two drink minimum requirement, so I basically spent $30 on two small cups of soda that was just full of ice. Thanks for the false advertisement on your reservation policy and expensive gulp of soda. Seriously, a total scam.
Do not trust the people selling these tickets to the comedy show in New York on the streets in Times Square. If you call to make a reservation you can’t get through. You show up for the show and we couldn’t get in even though we had a tickets. They would not refund since those selling are independent sales rep.
Good comedians. Too cramped, however, without a place to set your drink. The drinks were made with cheap liquor. They were the only disappointing drinks I had in New York...and they made me pay for 2! Beware: lights are dim, so you cannot see the bill very well: they add a gratuity onto the bill that you cannot see and you never get back the receipt.
I call NY shaftsville. This city is so overrated its just not true. I came here to watch the Jets v the dolphins and had to take wife and kids along too. (The kids are 22 and 19. ) The crack addicts and the smell of stale piss on the streets is an all too often sight and smell here. So in desperation I looked on line at what and where we could go. The comedy club on 53rdstreet came up on my phone (praise the lord). Only 16 dollars each. Wow what a bargain. 6 acts all very good. 2 were exceptional. The drinks were excellent too. All 4 of us had a great night. Made us realise that not everything in this god forsaken place is a rip off. Anyone who writes a bad review about this place must be a Very sad person indeed. If we ever come back to shaftsville (we wont). The one place I would gladly visit again would be this place. All I can say is thankyou. !!!!!!
I like to go to their shows when there are free tickets on eventbrite, but often you’ll see the same comedians doing the same set. There is a two drink minimum, although prices are better than at nearby bars. The worst parts of the experience for me are the bathroom and seating. You’ll almost always wait in a line for the two individual toilets, and you typically get a seat far away or where you need to turn your chair at an awkward angle.
Excellent show my 1st time to New York had a great time every day I was here will be back.
Nice spot to enjoy some comedy. We sat in the basement and had good service, even though the place was packed. I love basement comedy shows and I would definitely recommend it! Took off a star because if you arent part of a large group or in there early enough, you might have to sit against the wall or on the very edge, so it can be kinda hard to see everything. Other than that, great spot, good service and great comedians.
Nice comedians. The show was great, but everything else ruined the experience.Rude waitstaff and service. You pay for your ticket, but there’s a 2 drink order minimum with expensive drinks. They automatically add 18% gratuity and up charge you on the bill when it’s time to pay on the machine so be careful. We had to call the guy out on this as he added a few extra dollars on the machine than what was on the reciept, the guy waitstaff with an accent was really so rude about it, but then agreed to fix it when we said we are not paying extra.Honestly a poor experience and it’s insane how one rude employee can take away a potential lifetime customer.I see someone from the team replying to the other reviews on here, and it’s just funny to see how even their replies show unprofessionalism.
We went there with tickets bought from an official vendor on Time Square. We were promised famous people (Judah Friedlander and Jay Pharaoh were mentioned by name, specifically for that show), but instead we got to see a couple of fairly decent comedians (no one youd have heard of) surrounded by much weaker ones, all the way down to bad open micer. There were maybe 30 people in attendance, in a room designed for at least three times that (in a basement). Frankly, we didnt spend all that much on the tickets or the drinks, but we still feel like we were taken advantage of. Two stars because of the two good comedians we got to see, out of seven or eight.
Mediocre comedy club, apparently thriving solely on its proximity to tourists, despite the barely above amateur level of its comics (save one), drinks, physical venue, and service. If the comedians were funny the rest could be forgiven but except for one seasoned performer, Brian McFadden, who saved the show from getting nothing but crickets and awkward chuckles all night, they were not ready for prime time. Having had a blast at the Comedy Cellar a couple days earlier this was downright embarrassing. New comedians should work out their material during open mic nights until a they have a solid 3-5 minute set, not featured in a lineup while they learn the ropes in front of a full paying audience. I like to support stand-up, and so I hate to trash this effort but there are much better places to see good comedy in this town.Responding to owner’s reply: Not a fake review. And I don’t work for your competitors. I bought the tickets online so you know I’m real. That this would be your response just underscores the shoddiness of the whole operation, including, for example, that you had one of your comics working as a server and another working at the door. Ring a bell? How about you take some ownership and try being professional about critiques rather than attack your customers? I was willing to indulge the idea that maybe it was just an off night - that can happen. But thanks to the owner’s childish response it’s clear to me that this is an amateur, quick money operation down to the core.
My girlfriend and I stopped by on a Friday night for the clubs 7 p.m. show. I spent most of my time thinking, Now hold on... This is comedy in New York? Were a few blocks from Broadway and Broadway is actually in the clubs name, and this is what were seeing?!? At least three of the ten acts had no business being on a stage in Cleveland, let alone NYC. One of the comics walked on stage, basically announced he had no act, as if to get a laugh – then proved he had no act whatsoever, this as he also let everyone know that he had just returned from sharing his comedy in Amsterdam (or wherever). Oh, and even the drinks were shamefully bad. Run... RUN to another club; avoid this one.
In general I had a good time, most of the comedians were funny, especially Steve Marshall. The only thing I didnt like is that Troy Bond was not performing even though he was on the list for tonight. Now I checked and he is performing in California so they knew he wont be there tonight but still added him to the list...
We watched the Comedy Sportz show on a Saturday at 6. This is a great, family friendly improv show that for the whole crowd involved. The comedians were well trained and it was refreshing to see a different take on comedy (much like Whose Line). There is a 2-purchase minimum from the house, but all the food was good and the server was nice. This is the upstairs show, and they have a different show downstairs at the same time.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I don’t drink alcohol but they FORCE you to drink, if you don’t drink alcohol then they bring out water & then try to charge you $25 for the water bottles. I didn’t touch the waters because I didn’t want them to begin with. It wasn’t too funny, so I left early. Then they locked me in and forced me to stay so I had to call the police. I’m extremely uncomfortable and upset, I’m writing this review as I wait so I will update with the outcome. They are very rude & I do not recommend!!**UPDATE- in reply to the owners response.. I would NEVER make that up. The owners response was beyond unprofessional which shows the owners is a terrible business owner- I am a business owner.. I would never leave a bad review for no reason. Hey, “owner” go check your cameras from the night & you’ll see what happened. Anyways, I do NOT recommend to anyone reading this!! There are plenty of people saying this place is a scam, the proof is in the pudding. I have no reason to lie when others before me have felt the same way. RUNNNN!!!
Nice place. I think it is more of a tourist club since there was not one single New Yorker in the audience. Im not sure if it is the same lineup every night, but 60% of the stand-up comedians were really good, the rest lets say mediocre or maybe too unexperienced. Be aware that along with the tickets you need to drink at least two additional drinks in the club. We came few minutes before the start of show and ended up in the chairs on the stage. It was quite fun experience.
I’ll gladly share any video needed, I went with my cousin (a female) she was drugged and got taken away from outside in a ambulance from being drugged not to mention the rats that run around in there before the show 😒 you couldn’t pay me to even step on the street this location is.
Comedy show was a fun night out: various comedians give some 10-minute performances, most of them being quite funny and snappy. Drinks and food are pricey and not so good. A minimum amount of two drinks per person is mandatory.
Dope, comedians were on fire! Drinks were a lil weak, but great atmosphere and vibe
When I bought these tickets I asked do I need to buy two drinks because I dont drink. I was told no. Then I go and they force you to buy soda or water. I already paid a heavy ticket price. Scammy business model. I bought 5!!!! Not happy.
Got tickets on eventbrite. at entry we were told $25/person plus two drinks minimum. I went and enjoyed the show but you can tell this is a tourist trap and not authentic nyc comedy
The comedians were funny too me. I really enjoyed myself. Minimum 2 drinks and I loved each drink.
Funny.. quick, nice way to relax. We went for daughters 21st.. she loved it..

Stay away from this place very rude staff
They have good shows. Their comics are mostly funny. They have an improv show on Saturdays, and its pretty decent. Ive watched a magic show there as well. However, drinks are pricey. Usually a 2 drink minimum. I had 2 beers. On the menu it says $9, but with the fees and everything, my check came back almost 27 bucks.
Out of 7 or 8 comedians two made me smile, but overall the show was boring. All of the comedians were picking at the same people, asking the same questions... One even admitted he hasnt got a set prepared. What made it worse you are charged at least $20 on the top of your ticket for obligatory drinks. Shambles.
We came here to see comics that were on SNL and Comedy Central. What we saw was a handful of friends of the host and kids on the microphone hoping to get a laugh. What a waste of money. Also we bought 3 drinks of just juice and was $27!!!!!!! It was NOT worth $25 a person to go here. Either get professionals or close your doors
Great comedy funny people Ive met there had such a great time there with my friends definitely would recommend coming back soon
Not as bad as some people have made it out to be. Comedians were mostly fantastic but place is a little strange. Very tight seating, people were seated directly at rear of stage, (bizarre but good comic fodder). There were a couple of twelve year olds sitting in the front row, uncomfortable for some people with the level of vulgarities being thrown. Don’t most comedy clubs have 18 or over policies, some I think have 21 and over?
