The room was clean, newly remodeled. There was no carpet which I prefer. The room was really pretty with an incredible view. The bed was very comfortable with all white bedding. Very luxurious.The only drawback for us was no in room phone or front desk information. The bathroom did not have a fan or any ventilation. We would recommend this hotel with a top floor room and full ocean view.
The customer service was great! The area is quiet, just what I needed. Just a short walk to the beach, shops and great restaurants. My only issue was with other guests not picking up after their dogs. A bag and disposal area is available, the bags were empty for a bit but that’s no excuse. If you have a dog and hotels are gracious enough to allow you to bring them with you, come prepared. Thanks for a great relaxing stay!
The room needed some updating but for the most part was a super nice room. The bed was amazing. The staff is nice. Hot tub was nice and hot. Only drawback for me was that I paid a room with the view, and I dont feel that it was a view. I was in room 118 and all I could see was two chairs. Which was disappointing considering I paid extra for room review. I will definitely go back though. Would have liked to stay for more than just the one night. Location is great right by the ocean, restaurants, parks, and market.
We stayed here for two weeks and we’re treated so well. Emily and the rest of the staff are so friendly and went above and beyond to accommodate us. The rooms are basic but the beds are comfy. The location is awesome! And the pool/hottub/sauna are an added bonus. Would definitely recommend this place!
The location of this hotel is perfect. Walking distance of the shore and quaint downtown area. While the rooms are a smidge shabby, they are clean and beds comfortable. If you have children and hoping to run out your door to the beach, please note you much find a beach access road. The staff are very kind and helpful. We enjoyed our short stay and would definitely stay again.
Although this is an older motel, it seemed to have been updated pretty recently. The beds were clean and very comfortable. The room was tidy and included coffee and a hairdryer. The pools in a separate building, but very close to the motel. We arrived late (10 pm) and the office was closed. We called the number on the door and were almost immediately joined by the manager who checked us in. The cleaning staff were very polite and helpful. My only negative was the elevator. It was disgustingly dirty. I hated touching the buttons! We needed handicapped parking, and they had 4 nice big spaces perfect for our wheelchair lift. We were unable to secure and ADA room (we booked a couple days prior) but a standard room had plenty of room between the beds for a wheelchair. We had a lovely view of the ocean. The price came to $386 4 people, one night. Service dog was free. We would stay again.
This place was an unexpected gem. I wasnt expecting a five-star luxury resort because that wasnt what I was paying for. I was expecting something more like Motel 6 or Super 8. Instead, it was far nicer than many Best Westerns Ive stayed at. My room was lovely and spotlessly clean, with a wonderful ocean view. The location was extremely quiet, well off the main highway, and offered a walking route along the bluff overlooking the ocean. Best of all, the front desk staff were kind, caring, and helpful human beings, rather than the usual interchangeable robot-like creatures I usually find at budget motels. Was this a splendid seaside resort? No. Would I stay there again, and recommend it to other budget travelers? Absolutely.Thank you for a delightful stay!P.S. The doors need painting, but dont be put off by the outside, because the rooms are lovely on the inside.
Great location, the pool area was clean, decent breakfast. The rooms, however are definitely aged, wearing out. The light fixture in our room was questionable, flickering and buzzing. The front desk gal would only give us 1 light bulb even though there were three full boxes behind her. She stated those were for the “other rooms”. We played a light bulb version of musical chairs until we got it partially functioning. The bathroom fan/heater was removed and a single bulb in its place; no air flow in that bathroom is going to cause more mildew to grow. Caulk going bad, corners were dusty and had build up (a little attention to detail for what we paid would have been nice). Additionally, calling my cell phone basically begging for a google review a couple of days after we left was unwelcome.
Best deal on Nye Beach.If I’d found this room in downtown Chicago I would have been a bit disappointed. There were minor issues like some patches of unpainted plaster on the walls and a lamp that needed servicing. But it’s the beach! Things are a bit more casual at the beach. The staff was very nice and extremely accommodating. The grounds were well maintained. My view was excellent…BIG window (that opened!) looking out over the ocean…really no need for a balcony. The location was convenient but not right in the center of things, so easy to park (parking is definitely an issue in the Nye Beach area). I expect to be returning to the area again and made a point of getting their direct phone line so I can stay there again.
The location felt safe and rooms were comfortable and cozy. Staff was kind and very helpful. I loved the view from my room and THEY HAVE A SAUNA!! Although the complementary breakfast was almost non existent. The bagels were stale, the drink machine was broken, and they should not advertise a complementary breakfast its more like complementary stale snacks. Overall a very nice and comfortable stay. :)
Overall a totally fine place to stay. Everything was completely acceptable and had no issues. Its a older hotel with decently appointed rooms. Some things are a little worn but its all there. Staff were very helpful and courteous. We had a great view of the ocean from the third floor and a few blocks walk from downtown Nye Beach.
The hotel was nothing like it said online , rooms were out dated , and worse the a motel 6, my 2 teen daughters bed broke on them while they were laying in the bed, floors were all tore up, toilet seat was old and damaged, bath tub stopper was gone and broken couldnt give my 3 year old a bath , we paid extra for Ocean view and got to look at a building, we paid almost 900 dollars for one night two rooms and it was the worst experience ever. And there complimentary breakfast was bagels , and yogurt. Remotes didnt have backs on them .The front desk said there not responsible if our stuff gets stolen or broke into which made us super uncomfortable Iv never been told that at a hotel before. So we didnt unpack our car tell night time when we knew we would be in the rooms, when we told staff about the bed they said they would send maintenance in after we check out, that they needed to change to a metal frame that the one in that room was an old frame but didnt offer a new room or accommodations still charged us full price for the double queen room ... Like I said worst experience ever at a hotel. Dont waste your money here....
Room was clean. great view of coast.the pool heat was not in service or not on. pinching pennies in the off-season is not acceptable. it makes one not ever choose you especially when the pool is why some of chose you. I tend to not read reviews until Ive already booked room.Staff was nice and yea the hot tub was hot. Just that swimming amongst 10 or more in the hot tub doesnt really work.
The staff is friendly & courteous & the room was clean. I appreciated that maid service was optional. The breakfast could do with better produce & more protein. Our bed was not very steady & moved with the slightest movement making it hard to sleep along with the people above us came in at 2am & woke us up. (Make sure to get a 3rd floor room). The bath tub in our room also did not plug completely so the bath water would leak out slowly.
The staff was very nice, the view was great, and the pool was nice, good temp, overall clean. The walls and floors were incredibly thin. We heard the kids above us running around all the time and some people multiple rooms away from us. Our room was mediocre, the beds were alright, a little springy, our curtains had stains on them, and the bathroom was worn out (paint had been worn off on the toilet and in the shower) and they left two two in one shampoo and conditioners but one was open and half used?? Also they only left two tiny dove soap bars for soap by the sink. Given that we were staying only two nights in a two bed bedroom with a small tv and a tiny bathroom with a tiny sink outside of it the $461 we spent was definitely not worth it.
We had a very nice experience at Waves Hotel. Couldn’t ask for a friendlier, more accommodating staff and the location was perfect for us. The hotel is old and they’ve made quite a few updates, but the rooms are pretty basic. If you’re just needing a clean, affordable place to sleep this is a great option. We love Newport and we will be staying here again on our next trip,
My family and I went on vacation and drove the Oregon coast line. We stopped here before heading to Seaside and stayed one night. Was a decently priced place, but had difficulties. First, when trying to book online we were sent to a website that seemed like a scammer couldve got away with my personal information. Had to call the main front desk at the hotel, not the booking one! Even that seemed fishy. When we arrived, we were greeted pleasantly, and were booked in with not problems and hassle. We got booked on the second floor, but the place had no elevator. We managed to juggle our portable fridge with my youngest daughters breastmilk, and kids snacks. Our bags, our baby, a 5 & 6 yr old up the 2 flights of stairs to our room. Our room looked decent, floors couldve used a sweeping and mopping, especially under the bed and furniture. Seems like they were swept and mopped around them. Our lamp was missing a light balb? The coffee pot was missing a back part where the water goes. We had a closet but no hangers? Turned on the air conditioner and it smelled as though someone blew cigarettes into it. After opening the window and letting it blow a while it did kind of go away. Our sink plug would get stuck when washing bottles. The pool and hot tub was about a parking lot away. But, on a good note it didnt take us long to get to the beach. Would I stay here again? Possibly, if this is all that was to offer at the time.
Staff were extremely friendly. Very close to the ocean. Top floors have view of the ocean, bottom floors can hear the ocean. Clean and very comfortable beds. Daughter enjoyed the indoor swimming pool and we enjoyed the sauna. Simple but good little breakfast.
After my stay I received 6 different emails asking to rate the oyo wave hotel. Here it is. Floor was filthy with dust bunnies and some sort of crumbs all over, as soon as I walked in. The 3rd story window had a crack going all the way across the window with a sharp edge sticking up. The window that opens wide had no screen or any other safety feature to keep a child from easily climbing onto the ac unit then out the wondow, so I didnt have the pleasure of listening to the ocean the entire stay. All the towels were wet as if they didnt stay in the dryer for long enough. Receptionist was nice pool was fun. 700 dollars for two nights one star
We had a good experience staying at this motel. I was in a leg brace so the stairs were a little bit of a challenge but, we made it work. We had a nice view even thought we did not book for a view. We had a 10 month old baby so the floor without a carpet was a bonus. All I had to do was spray a little Lysol and could feel good about letting her down on the floor.
I booked 5 rooms for a family vacation. The staff was very helpful with getting us rooms close together and getting us a great group rate. We were bummed that the pool and hot tub were down when we arrived since that was one of the main reasons we booked this motel, however they did refund part of our payment due to the inconvenience. We had a few minor issues with the rooms but nothing that couldnt be fixed by talking with staff. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. I love how pet friendly this motel is as well. Our room had a great view of the ocean and the light house. This is not a fancy 5 star hotel but for the price and the location it is a great place to stay.
First time staying in a budget hotel that I actually enjoyed! Big props for that!!Every staff member I encountered was fantastic, super friendly and polite. Rooms were great aside from two things - bed felt a bit older and worn, had some sinking in different spots, and cleanliness was only OK, noticed trash left behind from previous guests under bed and night stands along with a lot of dust/dirt in some areas. It didn’t feel gross, not enough for me to complain about for a one night stay, it felt as if housekeeping rushed it and just focused on all areas that are noticeable and ignored some others.Aside from those 2 issues, I’d give 5 stars.
The staff at OYO Waves Hotel are very welcoming, which was pleasant for the check-in process. The hotels location is a strong point, being conveniently close to the beach and one of Newports main downtown areas. However, in most other respects, the hotel is average at best. Parking is extremely limited, and the surrounding area is poorly lit and somewhat run-down, which made me concerned about the safety of my car. The interior maintenance of the hotel leaves much to be desired. The bathroom showed visible signs of damage, and the amenities in our room were not adequately restored. For instance, instead of fixing a broken soap dispenser in the shower, the staff had simply left a bottle of soap, and there was only a used roll of toilet paper available in the bathroom as well. Additionally, the ground floor rooms do not offer an ocean view, despite what may be advertised. The walls of the hotel rooms are very thin, and I could hear the guests in the adjacent room snoring, which was quite disruptive. Overall, the hotel is functional if you can get a room at a discounted rate. However, I would not recommend paying a premium to stay at this location.
This is not a 5 star hotel but it has an ocean view for a very low price, friendly staff, and the basics. The magic is OUTSIDE not inside. Its basically right on Nye Beach, one of my favorite places ever. Plus, they allow dogs.We did not sample the free breakfast or use the pool. We were looking for a cheap room on the coast and thats exactly what we got. I would definitely go there again. The only downsides to our room was a very loud bathroom fan and a missing screen on one of the windows. For the super reasonable price we found no reason to mention it to the staff, especially since we were only there one night.

The staff are incredible, Javen was extremely helpful and the morning time guy was so kind!The location is great, walking distance to the excellent Nye district. The partial view of the ocean was so relaxing!!The pool was large and there is a hot tub and sauna.I decided to stay an extra night and this is my new go-to on the Oregon coast!
Stayed one night. warm bed, hot shower, & only $10 pet fee. there were no hooks or hangers in my room, not even for a towel in the bathroom. the bathroom door placement was also very awkward. I dont recommend the ground floor units if you want the ocean view or to use your AC without feeling super awkward about the fact that it blows the blinds up so folks can look directly into the unit at your bed. breakfast was included -- typical less perishable spread like bagels, yogurt, and cereal.
Cute rooms, towels were a but ruff feeling, set up a bit different. Bed was comfortable for a short stay. Floor was dirty, tho need a better floor cleaner. They werent open to check out until 8ish.. we got up and had to wait some. Did like this place, would.choose a different one next time.
This was a good experience here. I really like the fact that they have a hair dryer. They also have a Keurig that works and lots of plugins for chargers. The really cool thing is that they had a body wash and shampoo dispenser in the shower. That was really cool. The pool was warm. The breakfast was ok just cold food things. Bagels, English muffins and cereal. They did have Yahoo chocolate milk, fruit punch, and apple juice for kids. The shower stayed warm through the whole shower. Plus you could take a bath and it was still warm. I couldnt figure out the air conditioner. The one thing I did not care for was the Wi-Fi connection. It would go in and out. Otherwise I would recommend this place.
Great location, no real service (and no phones in room so no way to call the front desk). No daily cleaning service, late breakfast start at 8am (which means I couldn’t use it), and just not great or convenient if you stay more than one night for work.Positives: Staff were very friendly and as helpful as could be. One fixed the Direct TV receiver on day 1 and another found me some towels on Day 2. Staff were great at every interaction.
This hotel looks a little Shady on the outside but the rooms were super clean, large and comfortable. The TV was small. The pool area was cleanCould use more seating. We would stay again
Firstly, the pictures online are incredibly misleading. Our hotel room was not clean, the door looked like someone had broke in and the elevator was down. As someone with physical limitations it was disheartening to see. There is also safety concerns in the room, the light fixture is so low someone who is 5 9 banged his forehead on it. The breakfast mine as well have been non existent. A shame I paid extra for a beach view to have it obstructed by cables. Better hotels are in the area, will not be booking again. The only bonus is you can book for a 1 night stay and the staff was kind.
Disappointing.Positives: clean linens and beds, clean bathroom, nice hot shower, great big windows for ventilation, friendly and efficient check-in.But this is SO overpriced. Broken furniture, chips in drywall/paint, no light/fan cover in bathroom, dings in the floor, holes in the shower curtain, and the absolute cheapest soaps. All of that would be fine if we hadnt paid over $300 for one night. I would come again, but not at that price.
Clean big room with Ocean view and hardwood floor. King size bed was comfortable. Staff helpful and nice. Breakfast was simple toast, bagels, and cereal. Definitely stay here again!
The staff went above and beyond to make my stay amazing. My second room was more updated than the first, but both were clean, and had everything I needed. Great price for the location, and had a great partial view of the ocean. Breakfast selection was not the greatest, but was fresh, available and free.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. But once we got to our room there was paint splattered on the front door, stains on the lamp shades and curtains. Holes in the blankets and sheets. Weird holes in the floor, like someone smashed a hammer on it. There was no vent cover for the light in the bathroom so you could see the dust and mold and the shower nozzle would spray out everywhere if tilted too high up. Also the sauna was broken which was a shame. But I guess thats what we get for a somewhat affordable room. Oh and it was less than 5 minutes from the beach.
Absolutely horrendous.We asked for more towels and they gave us 4 bath mats. Aggressive chaos at the pool. No screens in the 2nd floor windows, no one at the front desk at night, someone knocked and then immediately walked into our room while my husband and baby were asleep… no apology or explanation of what happened or why someone was going into our room. The toilet is coming off the hinges, the fan is the bathroom literally is about to fall anytime you shut the door.If you are traveling with family or loved ones… this is not a safe or healthy environment. I highly encourage you to stay at another hotel. This very much feels like a motel with no one coming to your aid if you are asking for assistance or basic needs
This hotel is a block from the beach - but the trail is eroded so you cant actually walk to the beach without walking a good 1/3 of a mile down the road. Would have been nice to know that in advance.The staff were very nice here. Breakfast was OK for a continental breakfast, nothing fancy. The room wasnt great (partially broken outlet covers, somewhat strange lighting, a shower curtain that barely kept water out of the bathroom) but it wasnt terrible either. Unfortunately, the walls were paper thin and you could hear every other guest. I dont think Id stay here again but it was adequate for a single nights stay.
I was on a 10 Day Rd. trip vacation with my little dog and decided to stay here at the last moment so we could be by the beach for him to run around and experience it for the first time a little bit. The staff was amazing. The room was incredibly clean and the location was phenomenal. Cannot say good about this trip.
I booked this hotel last minute (while visiting the Tillamook cheese factory lol) and was pleasantly surprised with the accommodations. The front desk staff was kind and helpful and the overall hotel atmosphere was safe, clean, and comfortable. It’s not a luxury stay but the price is right. My only regret is that I didn’t have time to walk down to the beach or use the hot tub.
The people are always friendly (3rd or 4th stay), the rooms clean and in decent repair. Noise level good, and they allow our 2 mini doxies!The 2 negatives are that the toilets dont have lids (needed when flushing), and we reported early on that the doggy area was out of poop bags.
Friendly front desk, room was stocked pretty well! Bed and linens were very comfortable too. I fell asleep to the sound of the waves crashing from my third story room. Would definitely go back.
This is an older hotel that appears to have been updated recently. If you are looking for a place to sleep, this is ideal. The sauna is out of service. The pool is super cold. Have to just jump in! Lol The vending machine is out of service. No elevator. The biggest part was the limitation to 3 towels for a room that sleeps 4. In my opinion, something needs to be down about that. Staff was exceptionally kind and helpful.
This place has great views even in the partial ocean view rooms! It’s only a few blocks from the beach and shopping and restaurants. Our only disappointment was that our window didn’t open but we saw several windows on our floor that were open. Pretty minor complaint since overall it was a fantastic nights stay.
The room wasnt ready until just before check in, which was fine but when I got into the room I noticed it hadnt been 100% cleaned. The tub had an opened bottle of soap that I imagine was for filling a soap dispenser or something. There was no soap besides that, and no shampoo whatsoever; just 2 bottles of conditioner. That was a bit annoying, but the worst part of it all was that I chose a hotel with a swimming pool for the kids and was not aware that it was out of service. That sort of ruined the weekend, the kids just wanted to swim. The people were nice, but I fell like i was overcharged since the accommodations were seriously lacking. Best part about this place is location, obviously the beach is right there so that is the only plus side and why I am generously giving them some stars.
Super clean and reasonably priced hotel, the room was perfect for us! The pool/hot tub was nice to enjoy and they had a small selection for breakfast but we enjoyed it! Super convenient location we could walk to the beach and multiple shops and restaurants!
🪳🪳🪳Was only inside my room for maybe 20 minutes total before a big ol roach ran across the TV. I canceled my stay and was back on the road less than an hour after checking in.I’m thankful that my room only had roaches and not fleas or bedbugs as other reviewers have mentioned. There are far cleaner motels in Newport for $200.
Great place to stay! Reasonably priced, very friendly staff, clean room and bathroom, comfortable bedding, great indoor pool and hot tub. The kind lady at the check-in desk made up for a poor booking experience with a third-party company by upgrading our stay to a room with a beautiful ocean view. The only thing I would say may need some improvement is the provided breakfast. The breakfast selection was very limited and we looked elsewhere for a meal. Otherwise, it was a fantastic experience and we will be returning!
The room itself was fine, but the bed was shaped like a taco, the center was so sacked out. Had to put extra pillows next to me to keep me from rolling to the middle. Had to run the A/C on full blast the whole time just to keep the room a comfortable temperature, and this was in March. If the window wasnt broken I wouldve gladly opened it to cool the room off since it was in the 50s outside, but the glass was cracked all the way across the window and it seemed like if I tried to open the window it wouldve completely shattered. A lot of the extra amenities were broken, pool, hot tub, soda machine. I would say the only thing this hotel has going for it, is location and thats about it.
Property very rundown and need of repair . Our bathroom toilet seat was broken. The fan in the bathroom sounded like a freight train. Walls paper thin . Noisy. Receptionist nice. Beach across street.
We enjoyed our stay here, it was a short walk to the beach and to yummy restaurants which so fun. Service was good. Only downside was thin sheets and flat pillows, but the room was extremely clean!

I booked through Expedia the room had the latch missing on the window and the paint on the door was scrapped off. I went to front counter they said they could give us a towl to put in it or give us a partial view instead of full view. We took the lesser room it had a terrible smell the door frame had rot on the bottom.
Not the best view of the ocean from the 3rd floor as there are power lines right out the window. Fairly quiet. Nice hard wood floor and newer vanity for sink. Light switches in silly spots but it all was good. 2 tv remotes for diff working buttons for 1 tv. Breakfast was cereal, bagels and juice. Friendly ovn staff.Overall a nice stay, would stay again on a budget and not accommodating others but myself.
We requested and ground floor room and were assured that would be available but when we arrived we were told we had a 3rd floor room and that no ground floor rooms were open. Not cool.Also, the windows were so dirty the third floor view of the ocean was mostly obscured.
Sharing a bad review for the first time, because the comforter had holes in it, the sheets were stained, the toilet lid on the inside and out was stained green.. quit a bit of gross things happening in the stay. Location was good, but also would have liked my bed too be good and feel clean after having long days out & wanting to relax after.
Would never stay here again. Room wasn’t clean and had hair on the floor in the bathroom and dirty walls and lamp shades. When checking out told staff and was given a full refund. Staff was nice though.
I know a lot of people have left bad reviews but I think there we’re expecting a luxury hotel. They are very up front with the amenities offered and we loved this place… Why? Because it was simple , clean, the vibes were good and the staff was super friendly! That alone means we will be returning. There is not enough kindness in this world and the staff here were thoughtful, kind and friendly! We loved our stay!
Cockroaches In The Bed. Ants. Hot tub was slimy and unusable. This was one of the worst experiences I have had. While the staff was lovely and trying her best to accommodate, she cant work miracles. Oyo is refusing the refund my stay. Their customer service is non-existent.The first day we arrived and the room was very cute. We did not stay long, we dropped off our bags and left to go do stuff. We returned late and went to the hot tub briefly. Hot tub was murky and had floaties but we made the best of it, enjoyed and went to bed. The indoor pool was too cold to use. We woke the next morning and found sugar ants on our floor. We decided it was just a few ants and to just deal with it. I had brought my own lysol wipea so we just cleaned up the ants (there was no food in the room at this time.) We left for the day and returned late again, went to the hot tub again. It was at this point my husband, who is a hot tub and pool technician, went to check the filter. Why is this hot tub so gross? The filter compartment was impossible to open (not locked just jammed) implying that the hot tub was not being maintained in any way. It was well after dark when we returned to our room and went to sleep.Again we woke up to ants, we decided our stay was almost over and to just deal with it. We left and returned late again, did not use the hot tub, went directly to bed. Got up the final day of our stay early to hit the last few of our stops, came back very and went directly to bed.When we woke to check out of our rook was when I found the cockroach on my pillow. I screamed and jumped out of bed. At this point I discovered the family of cockroaches that were living behind the headboard. I caught one of the cockroaches in a plastic bottle to show the staff. We quickly began to pack. It was during this packing we saw how bad the ant problem really was. They had moved into my duffel bag. When I lifted my bag it was covered in ants and the floor was black. The inside of my bag was full of ants. They had moved their eggs into my clothing and were building their home in my things.Staff apologised and told me I would be approved for a refund via Oyo. Oyo is only offering me a refund of 140 dollars. When we unpacked our car when we got home we found cockroaches in my trunk.I have been unable to reach Oyo customer service. Their automated system states it cannot find my information and disconnects.I would not recommend business with this company.
OYO Waves is a great little spot. Stayed there many times and nearly always perfect for what we need. Most rooms are remodeled, though they could be done a little better. Pet friendly, though for some reason other patrons dont seem to know how to pick up their own dog poop.... rude.... well continue to use this spot when ever we go to newport. DO NOT use their booking/reservation line. Call the front desk directly. The reservation line is pushy, VERY rude and try to charge nearly 3x the price, and then require full payment up front. Its practically a scam. And dont believe them if they tell you theyre going to give a 40% discount. The front desk is always good. They give real prices and are always ready to work with you.
So many things broken or out of order! Pool, hot tub, soda machine, light fixtures, window lock. If you want to wash your hands, good luck. No hand soap provided. The shower curtain was rusty, and there was a big spiderweb above the bathroom door.
Wonderful. Its above Tsunami safe zone and a short walk down to ocean. Some motels seem a bìt low for comfort. We looked at all the glitzy strippy motels in Lincoln city but this one fit the bill. Its quiet but shopping is a short walk down the hill as is the beach. They gave us a second floor room with a sweet view of ocean and sunsets. If you book 3rd party you must call motel and request ocean view. Some rooms dont have it. Nice big tile hottub and a super cold pool. Not much by way of breakfast or nosy service but we didnt care àbout that stuff. It was close to full ouŕ 3 nights there. I have a feeling this place is well known but underrated kind of like The Newport Cafe. Hint hint
Everything was very good. We got to motel at 1:00am. The nye beach staff has a phone number posted on the door for me to call and they promptly showed up to check us in .. very quiet night and pretty much a full motel. Guest and staff were well behaved. Room was big, clean and practically on the beach. Ive stayed in alot of OYO motels. This one in nye beach is the best one by far. Just as good as the Hilton, shilo inn, sea gypsy but 3 times cheaper.
DO NOT STAY HERE! This is probably one of the worst places I have ever been. They absolutely do not provide any kind of housekeeping. If you ask to schedule it, it takes two days for it to happen. When I brought my dirty towels to the front desk, they didnt have enough to replace them. I had no satellite for the first four days. The carpet in my room is patched and needs replacing because the threads are three inches long. When my coworker checked in, his room hadnt been cleaned, and there was still urine in the toilet. He found someone shooting drugs outside his room and was told, There was nothing they could do about it. The front staff is understanding, but they cant do anything for you. I had a stuffed animal removed when they did change my sheets, and they never found it, which makes me wonder about how they wash the sheets. Its now six days since anyone has been to clean the room. Yet I see housekeeping staff almost every day. Trash is left on the walkways all day.
We really enjoyed our stay here! We had an amazing ocean view from our room which was nice because it was way too cold to go actually in the ocean so at least we got to look at it lol. Staff was friendly and efficient, location is close to lots of shops too. We will def stay here again :)
Emily the Front Desk Customer Service Rep was the best. Very friendly, helpful. What an asset to your company. She deserves a raise. Addressed our needs. Our room was very spacious and clean. We cannot wait to come back but with our grandkids.
Towels threadbare. Bed was not centered and kept moving. My wife hit her leg on the parts of the frame that stuck out. Floor was filthy. Ten minutes after shower my wife saw the soles of my feet were blackened.
Very easy Booking. Really nice 4th Floor room overlooking the Ocean. Very clean w/nice amenities! Also, very convenient to Nye Beach & Newport for excursions up & down the Coast of Oregon.
The room was big and spacious. Our towels were dirty and one of the light switches didn’t work. The view was amazing. The staff was great and let us check in at 2:30 instead 4. The hotel is also close to the nye beach stores.
I booked through Expedia for 2/17/24. We checked in and then checked out in about 30 minutes. The check in was pretty quick. The person at the front was nice. When we saw the room it was not what we were expecting. I feel the photos online are a little misleading. But we could deal with it for just 1 night. The rooms appeard more outdated then the photos we saw online. We decided to go to the pool as our 8 year old son loves swiming and the whole reason we selected this place was because it was next to the beach and had a pool. We get to the pool room and find out the pool is ice cold and even the sauna is out of order. We go to the front desk to ask if they can turn up the heat on the pool and are told that the heater is broken for the pool. I informed them that this is not acceptable and could not stay and will need a refund. I was then told that because I booked through Expedia that I would need to contact them for the refund, but that they would make a note on our account that we did not stay the night. Expedia or OYO Waves does not note the broken pool and sauna or inform people when they check in. We had to make last minute changes to find a different hotel to stay at. I feel the information online is misleading and is only provided when the customer inquiries about it. Looking at past reviews it seems like the pool heater has been broken for at least a month. At this time I am having to dispute the charges with Expedia since they said they will not refund the charges.

Overall, pretty much unbeatable for the price. Very friendly service, clean, huge rooms and a pretty comfortable bed. It was $65 including tax and the pet fee for our room and Ive paid far more for far worse. I would 100% stay here again the next time Im in Newport. Im generally someone who sees a star rating under 4 and instantly dismisses it as an option, and I was nervous given the reviews this place has, but I dont understand how the score is so low. We needed a cheap, easy place to crash for a night after visiting with family for the holiday and this place fit the bill exactly.The ONLY issues (and Im being picky here) were that the coffee in our room was all decaf and we didnt have time to get to the Continental breakfast, so we didnt get to take advantage of the coffee provided, the walls are a little thin (only really noticeable in the morning, and it seemed weird that they were already cleaning rooms before checkout time, but not a big deal, just a little noisy), and the window didnt have a screen so we couldnt safely leave it open since we came with a dog. I think two of these issues are pretty easy fixes?Overall, highly recommend, this is a great option for the price and genuinely surprised me. Much better than I expected.
I have always stayed here when I go to Newport. I really like the rooms and the area. I would have given it more stars but there was no garbage can and the tv didn’t work. One of the staff at the counter when I checked in wasn’t that friendly.
Great price, friendly service, and close to the ocean. The hot tub was relaxing and the pool was refreshing and both were clean.
Great views from top floors. Front desk clerks super helpful. Continental breakfast okay, but not great. No decaf. No phone in room, so no wake-up calls. Room a bit bare bones, minimal pillows, minimal towels, but spotless. Microwave works great, Keurig coffeemaker in room. Minifridge works, but minimally, and no freezer in it. I was quite happy here for two nights and plan to return.

I do wish we were able to get to the beach easier as we could not find a path until we went about a 7 minute walk away. Other than that, it was a lovely stay! The management at this property isn’t good On the last night we were at the pool. One of managers decided to close the pool early at 9pm. When it clearly states on the front door going into the pool it closes at 10pm. We had multiple people above us making very loud noises every night.
We have not stayed here in a while. Very nice clean room, staff was great. We lost power and shower was cold on check out but it is storm season here! We will be returning!They did paint it an odd blue?
Upon arrival, Mattie was quick, fast and efficient.We saw that housekeeping had left garbage and dirty linen outside our room. Spoke with the front desk about it, but it was still there in the morning. Getting into our room, we found the room to be cold, with the walls in need of painting. The people booked above were loud, lots of heavy walking, and moving furniture around. We complained to the night person, Eve. She refused to do anything about it. We asked to be moved to another room, which was refused.The next morning, after finding the dirty linen and trash still outside our room, we asked again to be moved to another room, which was granted. THANK YOU MATTIE! We were moved to much better room, where it was fresh and clean with awesome Ocean views! Mattie was awesome, shes the reason for the4 stars on service, but it looks like we wont be back anytime soon.
We had a difficult time finding our room because of the layout. After getting to our room, we had a beautiful veiw of the sunset over Nye beach.

Our visit to this hotel was not planned. My father-in-law and mother-in-law were on vacation there and my father-in-law ended up needing emergency surgery. My husband got a call from his mom and I immediately drove to the area.The staff were wonderful!!! They were able to get rooms next to my in-laws room for both myself and my father-in-laws sister and her husband. They helped us reserve our rooms longer to allow us the security to not need to change rooms or hotels during this upsetting event.I had several challenges come up during the trip and the ladies in the office were amazing! They took each problem in stride and went above and beyond to help me out. The teamwork these gals showed proved what a great working environment they enjoyed.While there we enjoyed the hot tub and the grab and go breakfast that was included. The breakfast included bagels, cream cheese, peanut butter, jelly, donuts, other pastries, string cheese, oatmeal, juice, yogurt and other things I know Ive forgotten about.Our rooms were clean, well maintained, and included a small fridge with little internal freezer section, microwave, and coffee maker that also included coffee, cups, and sugar and creamer pkgs.While this is an establishment that we never stayed at before it is now at the top of our list for visiting the Oregon Coast.A special shout out to Eve, Emily, Maddie, and Mandy, you ladies are so very fantastic and true gems of the Oregon Coast!!!

If you are someone who will notice and nit pick every little detail or improvement that could be made this is not the place for you. However that was not us and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Bed was very comfortable, room was clean, and everything worked as it should. The pool was a bit cold but the hot tub was very nice and we had the room to ourselves for over an hour.A few things that caused me to give 4 stars. It was very windy at night and the door shook very loudly quite often. Also, I was going to try the coffee machine but there was only decaf provided.All in all for the price point it was a great stay and if we spend the night in Newport again we would definitely return.

My family love coming and visiting the hotel, the only bummer we have is the pool. The pool is way too cold just swimming, but I’m sure they’ll make it better cause they always get on top of things there the great place to go on vacation.

This morning a gentleman worker behind the counter/desk area was there for a paycheck nothing more. Took him forever just to get fresh coffee for us. Nothing was restocked for breakfast.Not returning EVER.
No towels for the pool, when you go ask for a towel the lady tells you she’ll bring more then 39 min later nothing, I go ask for towels again she said she’ll look for some then I walk back with my kids shivering across the parking lot and she’s sitting at her desk. Terrible service the breakfast is a joke, don’t book
I give this place a 5 star because it was very nice for the price.The only thing I did not like is that it did not get mopped, I would know, since I am a cleaner myself professionally.Other than that I would book this place again.

Overall good experience especially for the price. We were disappointed the pool wasn’t heated since that was one of the things we were looking forward to in our stay. Thankfully the hot tub was nice and warm.
The room had a great view of the ocean and had everything I needed, including a working fridge. I never did try out the pool or the breakfast. The mattress was not the best and the grounds needed some serious TLC but my room was clean and I would certainly return. The location is close to many shops, restaurants (try Szabos), and site-seeing spots. My pooch and I had a great time!
I was on the 3rd floor with a “partial” ocean view due to the building in front of us. We still enjoyed the lovely view! The room was amazing & dog friendly! The hardwood floors definitely made that accommodation of two dogs very simple! The people working were very friendly. The location is right next to NYE beach & delicious restaurants to eat at! The area seemed quiet & safe! Will come back to this location!

My wife convinced me to stay here because we just needed some beds for the family to sleep and leave early, and I wanted breakfast easy. I told her I wanted hot, she said, this place has continental, but reviews say they have breakfast burritos. Not great, but I can get on board with a couple hot burritos. No burritos. So, after a mediocre spot to sleep (no complaints), I just cant eat sugar only in the morning. Donuts, chocolate milk and muffins is essentially dessert. Bummer.Oh, also took my 2 young daughters to the pool last night where 2 adult female individuals were having a very romantic time in the public pool and hot tub. Very inappropriate and hotel should REALLY enforce propriety in family friendly accommodations. Had some fun conversations after. Thanks.
We had a nice room that was clean and comfortable. The room had hardwood floors, Keurig,a couple of comfy chairs and decent bed. Staff was very polite and helpful. We were on the second floor and theres a building blocking a total view of the ocean. We could still see diagonally at the ocean and the lighthouse just not the greatest view. I would recommend the third floor for a better view. Overall a great stay.
I travel with a black light due to health reasons. My motel room passed the black light test and the staff was very friendly! The bed was a bit hard so they brought me a comforter to help pad my side of the bed.
Had an ocean view, double queen, second story by elevator. Very spacious and comfortable. The view does have lines and people parked below but did not bother us. One thing needed, a place for clothes and towels in the bathroom for after your shower. Customer service both shifts great! Will stay again!
We arrived later in the evening and assigned a room. When we get to the room, the room wasnt even cleaned for people to stay in. The used bedding was on the chairs, no towels, and trash on the floor. We got assigned a new room, thankfully it was clean for the most part except for the hair stragglers in the bathroom. The next obstacle, we were told there was breakfast from 0800 to 1000. We get there at 0815 and the lady says theres going to be no breakfast for us. Definitely would not stay here again unless it was a last resort option.
NYE beach is quite this time of year (winter). Which is nice, although it also means food options are /very/ limited.Rooms only have (partial) access to beach views although the waves sound can be easily heard and windows opened (and even with an open window the heater below kept the room warm).
Loved it here! Nice clean rooms. Simple but spacious.The pool however was ice cold ❄️ so that was a bummer as it was one of the reasons we chose this hotel.Also walls were thin so you could hear neighbors.It was only $10 a night to have the dog with us.Customer service was good and they had an awesome selection of breakfast items (juices, honey buns, donuts, chewy bars, yogurt, etc)

We are a family of four with two young girls and stayed here for one night. It is a cheap motel and the quality is very very poor. The floors were dirty, mattresses concave from being old and overused and the worst part was neither the sink drain nor the bathtub drain worked. Sorry that was not the worst, the toilet flush drains so slow that it gives you a heart attack…you don’t know if it will dispose of your waste or not as it slowly rises before draining out eventually.We took these complaints to the front desk but we were faced with an absolutely inept employee that told us “I have no solution”. He wouldn’t share me his manager’s contact or tell us if and when he can get any help to solve the drain issues. Absolutely 100% useless and inept!

The room was clean. The small packaged soaps are hard as rock. Fortunately there was shower wash in a dispenser in the shower. The breakfast offerings were awful. First of all they had no tea, no sugar or creamer for the coffee. The packaged chocolate donuts were old and rubbery tasting. Tossed them. The juice and chocolate milk was past dated. If you offer breakfast, have the supplies for breakfast.

I had low expectations based on other reviews but was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. What I liked: the staff are all very friendly, the location of the hotel is very close to the beach as well as restaurants and shopping, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable, the TV worked great, other facilities in the room were adequate, windows were new and clean (some windows in other rooms hadnt been replaced yet), plenty of parking and it felt secure, breakfast was grab and go with plenty to choose from (I knew it wasnt a hot breakfast so no surprises there), it was very quiet, price was good for what we got. There really wasnt anything I didnt like except the pillows were flimsy and the carpet wasnt vacuumed well. We had a partial ocean view but that description is too generous. We were on the first floor and only could see the horizon due to buildings and a berm. Maybe the 2nd and 3rd floors had a better view. We didnt use the pool but it was an easy walk to the pool house. I would stay here again.
This hotel is cute, convenient and truly dog friendly! The biggest issue is the lack of sleep my husband and I got from our mattress!! The bed frame is made of 2 frames which causes the mattress to dip in the middle and result in a painful sleep and MAYBE 3 solid hours of rest. My husband has a severely damaged back and he was barley able to walk after “sleeping”.Would I stay here again? yes however, I would request the mattress seek attention.This hotel has ZERO beach access, you have to walk a few blocks downhill to get to the beach access and there isn’t 24 hr service here. They are quite particular about having dogs here, a lot of guests had their fur baby.This hotel should be Plan D!*photo from our room
My review are mainly cosmetics in the room. No hand towel rack or ring around the sink. No bath towel rack or hooks inside the bathroom. We noticed that the inside & outside part of the door had a lot of scratches/dings otherwise the room was clean & the king size bed was comfortable. The room we were in was on the top floor of the 2nd building & it has wifi & an elevator & great view of the beach ! Location is perfect, walking distance down the hill to the restaurants/stores/shops & access to the beach at the end of Nye Beach parking lot.

My mother, my two kids and I stayed at this hotel a couple weeks back and loved it. We were in the third floor with a ocean view. Some reviews mentioned the windows being so foggy you couldn’t see but we could see just fine. They will actually be installing new windows soon (they were in the office during our stay). The room was clean and just perfect for what we needed. The guest service was amazing, so kind and helpful. My kids and I loved the beautiful indoor pool and spa. We will definitely be visiting again
Thin walls and a bit of a walk to beach access, but the bed was very comfortable, A/C worked well, good water pressure in the shower, and the mini fridge was bigger than others Ive seen. Right across from the water so we were able to see the sunset over the Pacific. John at the front desk was my hotel hero! There was a problem with my reservation date and the hotline was not helpful at all (sorry, we can only change the name of the reservation, not any other details), but John worked his magic and corrected the problem which made me be able to enjoy the weekend. So grateful!

Cons: Hot tub broken down, pool closed before their closing time, check in office was gross, overall could use better cleaning, dried foreign substances on bathroom wall, our window was screwed shut when everyone else had access to theirs, no warning beforehand that the hot tub wasnt running, breakfast was packaged muffins and granola bars set out on a table, some bedding stained and sink was clogged. Pros the room was clean besides what I said above, still had an overall worry of sleeping in the beds with what I saw, not the best first impressions. Was close to the beach, okay view, office ladies were nice, and the extra you have to pay for having an animal there isn’t bad at all. It was a alright stay, but definitely needs a lot of improvements.
My only gripe would be to start breakfast earlier than 8 a.m. Other hotels in the vicinity also offer complimentary breakfast and start as early as 6:30 a.m.
Every advertised point about this location is pretty much thoroughly dishonest. Calling their breakfast options ‘breakfast’ is a gross exaggeration… with $3–4 at a Plaid Pantry you could pick-up better things (including real milk and not a shelf stable ‘milk drink’). They don’t even have actual creamer for their coffee… They also claim to be a hundred feet from the ocean or something, and even though the ocean is technically there, to actually get to it you have to walk about ~.3 miles because there is no ocean access anywhere nearby. Their claim to being near the ocean rests on the fact that the hotel is located on a relatively indistinct mudbank along the shore above the ocean. For each positive self-description they offer it seems like a lawyer was hired to see just how little they could actually do while still making said claim…
Marketed as being across the street from the beach, which it is, but you cannot actually get down to the beach from this location. My ocean view was through a side window where you could kind of see the ocean. There was a random pane of glass on the desk in our room. No smoke alarm in the room and the bathroom sink must have been partially clogged because it did not drain well. The pillows were extremely flat. Definitely feel like I way overpaid for what it was. If I ever went back to visit Newport I would not stay there.
Im updating this, we stayed again. This place is almost a three star. The rooms are mostly clean and the grounds are not. There is a view, a pool(dirty), and the staff is really nice. It’s a good location, and price, which are the redeeming qualities. Last time the bed had a clear sinking middle, and it felt like the third floor was rocking. We were in the other building this time, which didn’t rock. The wiring in the wall seemed to not be working, and we couldn’t get the window open at our last stay. Because the chemicals used to clean were so strong, I wanted to open the window but couldn’t. This time the window opened. The pool is always neglected but this time it was clearly not being cleaned. There was an old sock on the floor, day after day. My child ended up with conjunctivitis, and the doctor suspected the pool to be the culprit. If they are not stocking towels, picking up dirty towels, or old socks, they are most likely NOT managing the chemicals. The price and location have always made it worth it in the past, but I’ll have to be desperate to go back.

She is an oldie, but a goodie. My second stay here. It is a budget motel for sure, so no bells or whistles.With that said it has great views of the ocean. We had the window open all night listening to the surf. The pool is chilly! The hot tub just right.They were remodeling the breakfast area. So it was very limited. Grab and go. he said when I checked in.I will be back again.

I had to fix the toilet in the pool bathroom by reattaching the flapper chain. Room Sink drains slow. No paper towels or soap in pool bathrooms. Could use some basic maintenance. Perhaps there is maintenance they dont know if needed and Ill pass it on.Overall okay to get through a night or two if quirks dont bother you.
I will not book with OYO again and I will never with my knowledge book an OYO property. I was given false information about the property and was told repeated that after I booked the property I would have to pay for it within 2 hours or the reservation would be canceled (acceptable request) we booked the same day we were planning on staying, after I paid (while still on the phone with the representative) I was informed if I didn’t check by 9:00 pm my reservation would be canceled, and no refund. When we arrived we were told the room that we paid for did not have an elevator to it; which I had specifically inquired about before booking, I was told it had an elevator. It had an ocean view which I requested, but we were downgraded to a room with no view. Very disappointed with the whole experience.
We stayed at a OYO hotel in Seaside and it was nice so had high hopes for this hotel unfortunately it was disappointing. The beds are uncomfortable, there are cockroaches.the shower head is really low and the hot water not so hot.I will say that the guy at the front counter is amazing. He is very accommodating. He states That he has been at this job for a month. I hope he is treated well as he treats your customers .
When we got to our room we found that the main light didnt work, the sink faucet was running and couldnt be turn off, and worst of all there was an over-powering odor of bleach. The smell of bleach was so strong our eyes were stinging after only being in there for 5 minutes. I asked the manager if he could change us to a different room. He became quite hostile and said that he absolutely would not move us because, in his words, someone else had already complained about that and he had to move them, and if he moved us then the next people would ask to be moved too, and he wouldnt be able to fill that room, and his boss preferred to have every room filled every night. We were stunned. This is ridiculous logic. I guess OYO Hotels prefer having every room filled even if it means forcing a family with a 4 yo to sleep in a toxic room. We had no choice but to go somewhere else. Whats more, when I asked for a refund he told me I had to call OYO customer service. I tried for an hour to reach OYO customer service with no luck. From here on out I will avoid OYO Hotels like the plague, and I recommend others do too.
Stopped here for somewhere to shower while on a road trip, but had no hot water morning or night so ended up taking cold showers in January. Nice room but was disappointed in the lack of hot water.

It is a 2 star hotel, so things here and there show that.The rooms where, from the appearance, newly refurbished and remodeled. Newish sink, clean towels, new floors, newish furniture. The bed was very comfy! I slept like a rock!Breakfast was a grab and go of pop tarts, rolls, muffins, yogurts, ect. Nothing fancy, but could be nothing. Staff where friendly.Love the location, the view just out the window, good parking for off season. Right next to Nye beach and a nice walk. Dogs where only an extra $10 per night(some charge much more).The rooms also had microwave and fridge which is always a nice plus.I got a Groupon deal and was very happy with my little get away! I stayed 2 nights just to enjoy the beach and see around Newport. My room was quiet. Birds outside. Well worth the visit!
Great value in an AMAZING location, right across the street from Nye Beach in Newport. The room was quiet, except the sound of the surf if you opened the window. Bed comfy, Pillows pleasant, shower steamy enough and clean! Perhaps a few scruffs here and there. The phone charger device didnt work and neither did the remote control on the TV, but for the rate, I can easily forgive all that.
Not bad for the money ($70 in off season). Not great, not terrible.I can see why most of the complaints are on here. The automated response from OYO is telling...PROS;Looks recently remodeled.Its clean.Its affordable.Its about 5 blocks from the lower Nye beach access.Water is hot and pressure is good.CONSPartially obstructed ocean view should be extremely obstructed ocean view. If youre in it for the view, make sure you get a room on the third floor. Youre not gonna see much otherwise.Also you cant hear the ocean from here which is disappointing.Hot tub was down for maintenance. Call ahead if that matters. Wish I had.The shower head is about 5ft high. I found getting on my knees the best way to wash hair/face.Breakfast is extremely basic; consists of cheap pre-packaged muffins, pop tarts, yogurt and canned juices. The juice is probably the best thing on offer.Like I said, overall this isnt bad for what we paid. If you want something nice youll have to pay the extra 20-40 dollars somewhere else.
Pros: For the price, and one night, this is a good place and we slept well. The staff was friendly. I loved the ocean view from the room and my daughter loved the indoor pool. The heater works wonderfully.Cons: There were no towels in the room, which I think is a basic necessity. I had to go to the lobby because they had no phone in the room. There was some pet hair on the top blanket as well and overall not the cleanest.
Great deal! Good low price and the rooms were nicely decorated and well-cleaned. We centered our stay around the fact that they had a hot tub and sauna and were disappointed that both were broken/closed. No tea in the rooms, but a good selection of coffee. Also no hot breakfast but they had a wide variety of breakfasty takeaway snacks which we appreciated. The staff were also very helpful, honest, and kind—which bumped our review up to four stars!
I used Google from my cell to search for a hotel. The OYO Waves Hotel listed adequate amenities and the reservation process was quick and efficient. Upon arrival, it was discovered to be a MOTEL - not a hotel. Bad advertising. Check-in was easy and clerk was very personable. Pulling up to the room, there was an insufficient number of parking spots per room. The neighborhood was a bit iffy and the room was on the first floor so no open windows with ocean breezes would be happening. There was also a road between the cliff top and the room. This place is at the end of NYE Beach on a cliff so there was no beach access. I was told the room had a partial ocean view. You could see the ocean way out there and through the vee of flora/fauna that lined the road. The pool was in a separate building outside the immediate grounds. The carpet was frayed at the door (i mean really? easy fix and the 1st thing someone sees walking in), the room smelled like pets and the joke of small TV. The A/C fan sounded like it would go out anytime. The beds were comfy with 4 pillows ea, however one bed had a orangey stain on the side of the mattress cover. The room was close to the ice machine - that was a plus. There was an elevator avail for 2nd & 3rd floors. It was adequate for one night and the price convinced me to stay. All in all, I was thankful to have a place to lay my head after all the US101 driving.
Beds and pillows were comfortable, refrigerator, microwave, Keurig machine in the room. Bathroom was dirty, bathtub was dirty, no fan in the bathroom, dog treats and candy under bed and on top of sweater rack from other guests, uncomfortably loud with people above and beside rooms, 180$ for one night, The search continues for a reasonable hotel in Newport. staff is friendly, pool and hot tub were nice, the sauna was out of order. quick Walk to the beach, nice placement downtown by Nye, If you dont plan on spending much time in your hotel room then Its reasonable
Booked a room at a ridiculous rate, $250/ night, but before our trip the price dropped to $180/ night. Called both the booking site and the hotel to price match. Neither would do it. Thankfully my reservation with still within the cancellation/ full refund window, so I canceled. Don’t want to give my money to this place. I could barley understand anyone because of their thick accents on both the company customer service line and the “direct” hotel number (both numbers are Texas area codes). Also the lady that picked up the “direct number” hung up on me!?! Will 100% be staying at a chain hotel with better service instead of this place. Would have rated 0/5 stars if possible since the customer service was so horrible.
Rooms are great, location is good, but a limited ocean view is merely a peek of what might be ocean. Customer service is horrid. My plans changed and asked to reduce booking from 2 nights to 1. Front desk couldnt help, pointing me to website and phone support. Automated chat was unhelpful, pointing me to front desk (dumb for such a simple request). Phone support was horrible, putting me on hold to contact the front desk (to no avail) asking me to call the front desk at a later time. All just stupid.
I booked a room online because I was attracted to the price of $166.00 + $22.00=$188.00...so I pressed the pay now button and entered my debit card info...total still showing $188.00, so I press submit...and the bill was suddenly $200.63, with no way to cancel. I call the hotel and the man that answered said that transaction was through a third-party booking agency (which was not mentioned on the website during the transaction), and was told that he couldnt help me. After much searching, I found a way to email that company, requested either an adjustment or cancellation of the reservation. Never got a reply. This constitutes fraud!The room:Typical budget lodging, noisy bed everytime I moved, and poor sound insulation between rooms. There was a smoke detector, but no sprinklers. Not enough power outlets to accommodate the supplied lights and appliances...some shared a household power strip on the floor...had to unplug a lamp in order to plug in the coffee maker.No hand soap, which other budget hotels supply.Bottom line: I wont ever consider this chain again!
Alright. This is going to be a mixed review. So we got here an hour early and they let us check in an hour early and the lady at the front desk was super nice. We got into our room, and they both do and dont look like the pictures. Like theyre nicer, but not amazing for the price we paid. The shower is an upscale prison shower and the bed is from 1689, spring loaded. So bring your own shampoo and conditioner for sure and maybe a thick blanket and pillows.Front desk answered their phone at 11:00 pm and was super sweet when we lost our wifi pswd.The trip down to the beach is like an after-dark special of Dora the explorer. Hop a guard rail, scale down a narrow, janky cliff path, through the woods, passed literal crackheads living in tents within the woods, then a GORGEOUS beach.Continental breakfast is a mini fridge in the main office that doesnt open until 8:00 that contains go-gurt, string cheese, and juice boxes.So plan on breakfast elsewhere. Also, there is a Keurig here, but 1/4 teaspoon of creamer in the packets, so if youre a coffee snob, just bring a small bottle of creamer.Sauna is broken, but the pool and hot tub are great.The location of the hotel, other than the Dora Cliff down to the beach, is really good when it comes to quick accessibility to other tourist attractions.3.5 stars altogether.The end.
Upon walking in and checking our room our bedding comforter to be specific is dirty/stained. The window is dirty and lights are not working bed is surprisingly comfy but you can hear every noise next door and upstair so if youre planning to stay here bring earplugs to get a good sleep also we are excited about the pool but to our disappointment its freezing cold and theres a chair with mold due to food stuck in it and it doesnt seem like its been clean for awhile. Unfortunately we are never coming back.
Staff were great and rooms were clean however the walls had zero sound barrier and I could hear everything outside and in the rooms upstairs and next to me. I wont return because it didnt feel relaxing for this reason. Too bad because it was otherwise very nice.
Pros: the room was clean and had a beautiful ocean view. We slept well in comfy beds and woke up to the birds singing and the crashing of ocean waves. The hotel has a pool and hot tub, and is also located right next to a skate park (huge bonus for my kids who brought their boards). The staff was super friendly and helpful. The room has a clean Keurig and is well-stocked with coffee and the room has a microwave and mini fridge.Cons: overflowing trash in the common areas which was really off-putting (and unsanitary). The sauna is inoperable and a lot of little things seem to be falling apart (the soap dispenser in the shower is missing and the panel on the AC/heating unit was broken). The breakfast is a bunch of pre-packaged items like mini donuts, pop tarts, scones and fruit cups, though they did have yogurt, cuties and cheese sticks. The breakfast area was dirty so we took the food back to our rooms. Better than nothing, but they can do better.All in all, we had an enjoyable stay for the night and would recommend it if youre looking for a comfortable stay without all of the extras.

Staying at the OYO Waves “hotel” was so hilariously bad. Do yourself a favor and search online for “OYO hotel scam” before booking here or any other accommodation under this name.This is not a hotel. This is a motel. All the room doors are covered in scratches like a damn wolverine came through in the night. Nothing wrong with a motel but you gotta advertise truthfully.My friend and I were overcharged for our stay. Nearly $400 for two nights, when the going rate online was listed as $77 per night. We were charged at check-in instead of checkout. The front desk employee immediately agreed to a refund when we asked; I’d be curious to know if a refund would have been given if we hadn’t explicitly asked (doubtful).We then decided to cancel our second night after checking in, and the employee listed our refund as the price of one night but without the tax. It seems as though this motel attempts to pocket every little bit of cash unless you explicitly ask for what you’re owed. We asked for receipts for all the transactions, in case we needed proof to show the bank, and even that was a struggle for the front desk employee.This motel is “beachfront”, but there is no direct beach access. We even called to confirm that beach access but after arriving, realized the beach was a 10 minute walk away. No but deal, but again, you gotta advertise accurately.The inside of the room is extremely bare bones. Think a tiny bar of the cheapest soap, lumpy pillows, and random stains. I counted 4 large rips in my duvet cover. A strange light hung from the ceiling, along with an anxiety inducing photograph of a tsunami wave (both pictured). I wish I’d taken more photos to really give the full picture. The photos online do not reflect reality. Oh, and someone had left the alarm clock on so we got a loud surprise at 6am. Relaxing!“Team OYO”, I know you’re going to reply to this review with some generic nonsense about striving to provide a safe and comfortable space for guests. Just don’t. You should be ashamed of running such a scammy business and negatively impacting people’s precious vacation time.We ended up staying our second night at the Inn just down the street and it was like night and day. Saltwater infinity hot tub overlooking the ocean and free breakfast room service? Yes please.To anyone reading this, just do your research. The bad reviews speak for themselves.
Room was larger than expected. Clean but the furnishings a bit dated. Could see light coming through the edges of the door so could be an issue in the colder season. Staff was pleasant but could present with a little more enthusiasm. Overall our stay was a good experience
I don’t understand all the bad reviews. We just spent a couple days here and it was great. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was fairly spacious for the price, it was clean and comfortable. Nye beach is only a short walk away and there are so many places a short drive away. We made sure to use the appliances (Keruig, microwave and fridge, hair dryer) they all worked well. Also our window had no problems opening for those wondering. The hot tub and pool were a great bonus too. If people are looking for things to complain about, yes there were some scratches on the door but it’s also a pet friendly motel. I would recommend and wouldn’t mind staying here again.
The window was broken it didnt shut all the way an there was so guy who asked my husband if he sold drug an was knocking on other rooms asking other if they had any drugs the pool ceiling was caving in an the washing area for the pool was broken as well

We booked a 2 Queen ocean view room for my mom’s 70th birthday. Upon opening the door we saw the view of the building across the street. Yes the ocean is behind it, but we didn’t book a partial ocean view. I clearly selected the higher price room that was listed as ocean view. Even checking the website pictures after seeing our room, it showed almost our exact room picture as a partial view. The lady at the desk was very rude and just kept saying it has an ocean view so it is what we booked. This is not what I paid the extra money for her to wake up to.
Great location, walking distance to Nye Beach, From the third floor you can see the Ocean and Beach, but dont have a heavy suitcase as there is no elevator! Staff friendly and helpful. Older but updated and comfortable. Some noise from closeby rooms, so might need earplugs if you are a light sleeper.
I had an online reservation made which made check in very simple. About 3 minutes time. The place is not new, but the upkeep looked pretty good. Room access is with magnetic cards. Additional security lock is on the door inside. The carpet looked new and the room appeared clean. One wall outlet was retracted into the wall being unusable with the wall plate attached. No phone was found in the room. The coffee maker was a small K Cup machine, clean on the outside and clean water reservoir, but had coffee grounds floating in coffee made. Direct TV available as is multiple electronic plug-ins for your electronic needs. Water was always hot when needed. Room refrigerator keep items cold. Did not try the microwave, so no comment. The bed was somewhat firm, not hard though. Pillows available were soft to firm. The room I had was with ocean view, and it did have such, with roof top of building across the street and vehicles parked along the road. The windows were in need of outside cleaning though. One window opened for air. A cooler / heater in the room worked well too. If the room above is occupied you can hear them walking around. I stayed two nights, and overall, I found this place was good for a stay. The location is walking distance to the beach and dining.
I have always stayed at Motel 6 on my trips, mainly because of our service dog. So this was a first stay for us that was unexpectedly a nice surprise.I hadnt planned on stopping in this city but weather dictated I stopped after dark and the manager was outstanding help.I had no idea I was across the street from the Beach until the next morning. Food close by, comfortable room, beds, parking and very quiet. Ill definitely come back here again.

The front desk staff was nice, and the one housekeeper I spoke to was helpful and friendly. The beds were comfortable. The issue with this hotel is that it is very poorly maintained. When paying $200 a night for a room, I expect better. Its an older hotel, but it was very clear to me that basic maintenance is not happening. There were some issues with the toilet in our room (they did move us to a different room) and the carpet was wet. The window in our first room was taped shut with packaging tape. The window in the second room had a wet towel stuffed in it. The outdoor garbage cans were overflowing with bagged dog feces, and there were a few piles of junk stacked up against the building. I expect better for that price.
Room was decent for what you can expect for the price. Not particularly comfortable but not uncomfortable as well. Bed was pretty springy and there were two very small pillows on the bed. The bathroom wasn’t the cleanest and the room had no towels in it. To dry off I had to use a floor towel I found in a basket under the sink of which smelled of chlorine and corn chips(?). Ended up skipping the continental breakfast because it was mediocre at best. Tried to go for the pack of boiled eggs but they didn’t have salt or pepper (someone stole it). Nice location though and fine for one night. Had breakfast at a really nice restaurant near by.
The room was 80 degrees when we arrived and there are no windows to open so we had to blow cold air into the room on a basically cool day. The view is in the photos below, broken window and all. The service gets five stars because when we reported no ice bucket, (no phones so you had to walk back to the front office) the receptionist brought one up with ice.
It was a great stay. The only negative is they ran out of clean towels. And they only had 2 towels in our room and I booked the room for 4 people a week before we arrived.
When we first got here the room we were placed in was on the ground floor, though I paid for an ocean view all we could see out of our window was a building that was across the street. There were outlets literally hanging out the wall, and it just felt very sketchy overall. The pool was also “under maintenance” without a warning beforehand. And the breakfast that they said they offered is literally microwave burritos, prepackaged muffins or cinnamon rolls, yogurt, small pre packaged juices, or fruit cups. After a while of being unhappy with our service we went to the front desk, they offered a room change or a 20% discount. We went with the room change in hopes for a better stay. The new room was better than the last but still not up to our exceptions. The ocean view that I paid for was still barely there but at least it was better than it was, the sink doesn’t drain unless you hold up the drain stopper, and the toilet barely flushes without holding down the lever, the shower is fit for people who are shorter than 5’7” (estimated) and the shower head leaks when you turn it on. The walls and floors are paper thin, you can hear every single step and conversation people are having. On the third day of our stay we went to the front desk to ask if we could have a light clean of our room because the trash was full and we needed new towels, and the man at the front desk was quite rude saying “we have three maids today and 23 checkouts so I don’t know if it’ll happen” then after asking what room we were in and my boyfriend saying “I’m pretty sure it’s 221” his reply was “pretty sure or is??” in a harsh tone. They never even cleaned the room after that. Overall, I would never stay here again, it definitely does NOT look what it does online.
If 0 stars were an option I would give that. We had a horrible experience and would not recommend this hotel to anyone! Its worth the extra money to stay somewhere else...anywhere else! First off, they lie on there adds saying it has beach access. You have to walk a mile to the beach access downtown or drive and find parking. Our room seemed ok when we arrived and we left to explore the beach and go have dinner for my birthday. When we got back to the hotel room we walked to the pool area where the hot tub was closed. Went to bed and our pipes started gushing out water from under our sink. We called the front desk and no one answered. We walked to the office and it was locked and closed for the night. There is no phone or numbers in the rooms to reach anyone and very little info on the website. Finally got a hold of customer service and they contacted property management but they did not answer. Customer service told us there was nothing they could do. We had to deal with our pipes leaking all night long with no one around to help. We had no where else to go since we were several hours away from home. In the morning we talked to the front desk lady whom was very rude and disregard our issue as it was nothing and there was no issue according to her. They would not refund us nor discount our stay. Other than our pipe issue our fire sprinklers were also disconnected with plastic bags taped over them. Breakfast thats included was just granola bars sitting in the office upon checkout. Staff was not helpful and they are very deceiving with everything.
Everything about this hotel is amazing except if you dont have a car. Everything nice but the beach is at least 15+ minutes to walk anywhere like a store or restaurant
Older, rather worn motel. Room was clean and acceptable yet really needs a lot of TLC. Front desk lady was very accommodating. Loved the ocean view.Accidentally booked 4 nights only needed 2. Called management to try and correct mistake. Was refused any refund. Bad form OYO. Will not be back.
Stayed for one night just long enough to shower and sleep. The room was very clean and pretty darn nice. Very pleased. I only give a 4 star rating because of a couple things.#1 The mattress is pretty uncomfortable, felt like the springs were in my sides all night.#2 The shower is very low, Im 59 and the shower head is below my shoulders I had to kneel to wash my hair.#3 The big window leaks, it was raining pretty hard and the wind was blowing but, water was pouring in and all over the floor, dripping into the AC/Heat unit that is directly under the window.#4 The shampoo dispenser is broken and missing so the refill bottles are just sitting on the tub, no big deal besides you never know what other guests do to products.#5 Office closed until 8 AM, found this out when someone was camping in the parking lot next to my car and I tried to call the office which isnt a local number. Also that means no breakfast until the office opens. Which means no getting on the road early because I cant check out until 8amOther than that everything in the room itself is nice and clean. Havent had breakfast yet, they said grab and go style at check-in.
Dealing with the out-of-the-country corporation that now seems to run the hotel is frustrating. Try to get in touch with the actual front desk of the actual hotel in Newport. OYO does not make it easy.Plus, I returned to my room late at night only to find that the key card did not work. Fortunately , I had my phone with me and called the front desk, and fortunately someone answered. It was quiet uncomfortable to wait in the dark, locked out of my room, until someone came with another key. Oh, they do that sometimes - you have to be careful what you keep them near. Oh - no one gave me instructions about that.
Me and my boyfriend stayed one night… the room was nice and clean, very comfortable. the heater worked perfectly and the tv didn’t have very many channels but we were still able to watch some movies that we liked. no complaints.
We stayed here for 2 nights. Our first night we were woken up by the upstairs tenants at 6AM by stomping back and forth. It is an old building and cracks loudly... understood. Our second evening a separate tenant stayed in the unit above with children that were running back and forth causing the already creaky and loud building to shake. When we called and asked the front desk to ask them to stop running and jumping we were told, its and old building and were hung up on. Like a good neighbor we decided to confront the upstairs tenant ourselves and asked that they stop jumping. After what felt like a good interaction asking them to stop running we received a call from the front desk accusing us of harassing the other tenants. An interaction that would have never happened had the front desk simply called them and asked them to stop running.Edit: After being told we could check out and leave if we didnt like the service, we were forced to call a third party to request the refund. We went to the front desk to check out and also request a refund for our pet deposit for our second night (a $10 charge separate from the booking). After a cold minute of aimlessly tapping her mouse the front desk help turned to us and told us we could call her manager about it tomorrow and challenged me to add it to my review so I did. This is a review, not of the motel, its amenities (which are lacking, but not review worthy), or its other guests. This is a review of the motel staff and their dismissive attitude towards guests. To be honest, I would have been satisfied I am sorry, I will see what I can do even if she had done nothing. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. But dont take my word, be smart and read the other reviews like I failed to do.
It clearly had been updated but a lot of little details were missed. The staff was very nice but they aren’t available in the mornings so you had to grab your breakfast the night before. The walkways were covered in hair and fuzz and were just gross. The room was clean, we could tell but there was a hair in the bed and another in the tub. The bed was so beat my husband and I both rolled to the center and it felt like we were sleeping in a hole. Terrible. The pool house is super cool aesthetically but there’s no hamper for wet used towels so there was just a pile next to the shelf of pool towels. I mean, tiny bits of effort and most of our qualms could have been avoided. The location was great but I’m sure we won’t stay again due to all of the little missteps.
Had everything we needed. Nice location, clean room, reasonable price. A little bit thin of the blanket. We didn’t mind cold water.
We stayed three nights and found this hotel to be a perfect fit for our needs. We were traveling with our grandson to honor his 13th birthday and staying here was very convenient for our day trips out from Newport. Close to the beach for quick walks and we loved watching the sun set from our window.
The room as we knew is sufficiently sized, but the floor needed scrubbing, there was a coffee stain on the wall next to the sink, insufficient towels/washcloths, had to request a 2nd roll of toilet paper, and there was exactly 1 hanger. We bought a pack and donated them. Not the accommodations we were used to
Front desk needs to be organized along with having better communication skills. My family and I were eaiting fir Franco to clean our room. When he was done he didnt say a word didnt let front desk know. I had to give front desk a heads up. The guy who supposedly checking us in didnt care knowing we were outside waiting, was making a dash leaving for the day. Then nonchalantly says oh man let me get you a keyThen we go out to dinner and receive a call from the front desk asking me when will I be checking in. OMG!
Booked last min, it was 190 dropped to 125$....which I cant fathom paying more than 125$ for this room. The décor says were trying.... also woke up with nice partial views of the amazing Pacific Ocean. Front desk was polite and helpful, overall the place could use some more elbow grease and freshening up.....but its the coast...and things get worn a tad quicker than inland. Also the bed was way comfy as I have a bad back, so 5 stars on the bed alone!
When we arrived the door to our room was open with the bed unmade dirty blankets and pillows were stacked on a chair. They moved us to another room quickly, the staff were kind that wasnt an issue. The room was not very clean, the bathtub had maintenance on it and looked disgusting. The windows were so dirty that you couldnt even hardly see the ocean. We wont be returning.
This hotel has really gone downhill. There were a lot of little things....no plug in the sink, no cover for the exhaust fan in the toilet, the window coverings did not provide complete privacy, some of the wall outlets did not work. These are such simple things to fix or provide. It just doesnt seem like the owners care for the property. I wont go back again.
I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel!!! IF I COULD PUT ZERO STARS I WOULD! Drug city location. Right after check in we already saw a cop watching the hotel. Both rooms we stayed in appeared to have the doors kicked in at some point. Rooms were clean. The pool was open but no towels in the pool room. I had to go get some from the hotel lobby staff. She noted that apparently the cleaning staff hadnt gotten to that. The hot tube and suana were not working and closed. The pool temp was nice though. Later that night the cops were called for someone who was staying at the hotel and seemed to have overdosed on drugs. While the 6 cops and EMTs were helping that gal. During this time a couple who were very drunk and still drinking, almost got into a fist fight but my fiance managed to calm them down. Again, I do not recommend staying at this hotel, The OYO Wave Hotel in Newport Bay, OR. Actually due to this experience, I will not stay at any of OYO hotel locations either.
Came in after hours and staff was great to still get us in and was polite, even given the hour of past 12 a.m. I would recommend above ground level if you want a view of the ocean, but we were there for less than 12 hours and it didn’t matter to us. Clean room, customer friendly, and great location to attractions! Would stay again when we come to the Oregon Coast!
