May 2024 update: was thoroughly annoyed at my experience. The employees were sitting in the back near the bar talking DURING the comedy show and i had to ask them to be quiet several times. They got annoyed by me asking but like they could have gone outside to talk and i am a paid customer who came to watch comedy, not hear them talking. They were not working, they were chilling by by the bar yapping away. There is no reason they should have been talking while sitting in the performance space during a live show. I told the manager afterwards and she didnt seem to care at all. Then the security yelled at me twice for taking a photo of the performer as they were entering the stage. I was not recording the performance, but taking a photo of the comedian i came to see and watch. I have never experienced this at any comedy club in my life. The server was nice and the comedians were hilarious. Prices were reasonable. I will be back if there is a good performer, but this experience was not acceptable at all. They need to get it together.December 2023 five star review: I enjoyed david lucas, he was hilarious and his comedy was worth it. The staff were friendly but clearly they need a better system. Didnt take order until 5 minutes before main performer came on and got drinks after he started. Needless to say there was no time to order a second round so the 2 drink minimum was impossible to hit. The staff were moving but maybe they sat everyone too late and began ordering too late. Either way the venue was comfortable and good location.
Mark Curry was hilarious. He took time after the show for personal meet , greet and pics with anyone interested. Such a funny show and a funny guy. I wish him the best. The punchline was a nice venue, well organized seating and wait staff. I look forward to going back.
Customer service needs serious improvement. No one ever came to take me or my dates order even though tables were being served all around us. I even mentioned to one staff member that I would like to order and he asked for our table number but no one ever came over. We even stopped one staff member who was dropping food off to a table and told her we wanted to order and she responded by saying, Oh no, I cant take your order.
My friend and i went to see Dez Bishop and he KILLED it! We should have gotten there a little earlier to eat and drink because we didnt have time by the time we got there. Although they had servers when we were seated, we just wanted to do it beforehand with less wait time. Already looking at future schedule for opportunity to visit again!
Ive been here twice and each show was extremely unorganized. Went to see Kid Fury and were there at 8:30 when the doors were supposed to be open for a show that started @ 9:15pm. We waited around until 10:15 before the previous show which started @ 7:15pm just got let out. The bartenders went on a mic every 15 minutes and said the set was almost done. Energy was high and fun around 9pm but by 10:30 people were literally sleeping because we were all still waiting for this show to start. Overheard some of the staff at the gate say the same thing happened the night before. Ended up leaving because by that time none of us were even in the mood for a comedy show. Really a terrible time overall.
This was my fourth visit to the Punch Line, which I prefer to Helium. They dont squeeze you in like sardines, the sound system is better and the food is better. Im aware of the two drink minimum policy but based on my experiences there I always assumed it was a two item policy since in my prior visits Ive never ordered two drinks. My wife and I usually order two sandwiches, a starter and two soft drinks and that was the end of it. Tonight we did the same except this time I was told we needed to order two more drinks. If that is the case then Im certainly not going to purchase food there any longer. I suppose its possible that they make more profit on the additional $12 of beverage as oppose to the additional $48 in food that I normally purchase. If so then $24 ($6 per drink x 2 people x 2 drink) is what I will spend as opposed to $12 on drinks and $40-$50 on food. As such I will tip my waitperson $5 as opposed to $12. If those are better economics for the club Im happy to oblige. Definitely a disappointed patron and big comedy fan.
Attending a Wednesday night show at Punch Line Philly was an absolute blast! The venue itself was nice, and the service was top-notch. However, it was a bit surprising that the bar wasnt open after our show ended. It seems like a missed opportunity to keep the good times rolling, especially with a crowd eager for more fun.Nevertheless, the show itself was fantastic, delivering laughs and entertainment throughout. The atmosphere was lively, and the drinks were enjoyable, adding to the overall experience. Despite the minor hiccup with the bar, we had a great time and would definitely recommend Punch Line Philly for a night of comedy and fun.
Went to see Phil Hanley here and he was hilarious!! Nice club. My only complaint was the 2 drink minimum. Server came right in the middle of the show and I missed some jokes. Maybe they should allow you to order and pay for the drinks upfront and get all that out of the way before show starts.
Bar and waiting area did not have A/C. Very few people were at the show, and the headliner comedian was either drunk or high...didnt really have a bit, just kind of ad libbed and looked like a deer in headlights half the time. Would not go back. Helium is much better.
If laughter is the best medicine, then Punchline in Northern Liberties is the pharmacy. This comedy club is a beacon of hilarity, boasting a lineup of comedians who can only be described as side-splittingly funny. The service at Punchline is top-notch, with staff that ensure your chuckles are uninterrupted by any needs you might have. The drinks menu is robust, offering a variety of options to quench your thirst – from spirited cocktails to sodas for those who prefer non-alcoholic beverages. While the club is a tad on the pricey side, with a two-drink minimum, it’s a small price to pay for the quality of entertainment provided. You can easily meet this requirement with a couple of sodas if you’re not in the mood for alcohol. In summary, Punchline in Northern Liberties is the go-to spot for a night of good laughs, great service, and a lively atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you leave with your spirits lifted and your belly aching from laughter.Rating: 4.5/5 – Hilarious comedy, excellent service, and a vibrant ambiance. The slight premium is worth the experience!
This place is historic in Philadelphia, you can go here and see from novice comedians to stars. The food and drinks are awesome. There is a two drink minimum for all guest. This is also a great place for date night. So if youre looking for a great place to hang out, laugh and create memories, this is youre spot. Hope you enjoy...
Comedy show itself was awesome. Its a bigger room with a very large bar to wait in when you arrive. The show we attended started much later than the ticketed time and there was very little communication so a lot of people were aimlessly standing around for longer than expected. The drinks are quite expensive, but thats fairly standard for comedy clubs of this nature. Good spot to see a show, particularly if you know the comedian.
Clean, intimate but not crowded, hard working servers and a lot of fun. Comedians were great. Rosemary popcorn is the best thing ever!
Can’t speak to the food, but the alcohol was exactly what you’d expect and service was fast. I don’t think it’s fair to judge the place by the comedian (ours was hilarious), but the setup was great. The staff was very helpful accommodating our large group, and we are looking forward to going back!
The comedians were fantastic! The venue, however, was lacking.- We were excited to learn we would be sat front row, but I guess being in the front row means the waitress never shows up? We sat at our table 20 minutes before the show and no wait staff came to take our order until the main act was on. When we finally flagged someone down she told us the new waitress had been over sat and would get to us soon. She never did. We flagged the same girl down again who eventually took care of us.- The Bavarian pretzels were fine, but the yellow water that was pretending to be cheese was disappointing.- The frozen fruit punch drink was delicious and if you get the double it counts as two drinks! Which is good because we didnt have enough time to finish two drinks because of how long service took.Overall, not the best experience. Would like to go again as its close to home and the earlier show works for us, but I dont think its worth what they charge for everything if you can get them to take your order to begin with.
The headliner was BRUCE BRUCE. In my opinion, hes always entertaining. The table service couldve been better this time. It didnt seem that they had enough servers. I only received part of my order, and it took 20 minutes for me to get the attention of my server to inform her of the error and another 15 for my order to be completed.
I’m not even going to complain about how my party arrived at our 9pm show by 8:30 only to be told the first show was running behind, didn’t make it in to be seated until 10:30, with the show starting around 11 and ending at a WHOPPING 1:20am.I am here to complain about the music that played while waiting for *two* hours. To whomever created that playlist, please relinquish the responsibility to someone else. The song selection was reflective of a bad breakup, not keeping the energy high for an extremely delayed comedy show. As each song played, we started to wonder if this was a social experiment and we were being punked. One by one, we all succumbed to this musical psychological torture and began to scream, begging for reprieve. Apparently this is a popular complaint for this venue. To whom it may concern — take the feedback!
Extremely disappointed at last night’s organization. We had tickets for a 9:15 pm show by Kid Fury with doors at 8:30. We showed up on time. As the time kept passing and we waited on, they kept on announcing through the speakers that Kid Fury was running over his time again and again. He finally ended his supposed to be early 7 pm set by 10:05 pm, and by 10:20 they still would not let us in. We decided to leave. The level of disrespect and unprofessionalism shown to their audience is outstanding and the only show I have ever have to wait this much for was Madonna, and she’s Madonna. We will be seeking refund and will not be coming back to this venue or purchasing a Kid Fury ticket ever again. Disappointed cause we had big fans in our party and we travelled across state lines for this show.
**I came back to edit this review**. My initial couple of visits were not great. Previous review went into details. I have been two more times since the bad visits. These times were much better. Faster/ friendlier service. No issues with payment or credits cards. Wait times were standard. Show and staff were both great. Please check out comedian Erik Terrell when you can!
Its always an awesome show with Godfrey.! So much laughter!Ive only been to Punchline for Godfreys shows. The set up yesterday evening regarding the seating was not favorable. The seats in the back has benches and single chairs with low round tables. Those tables may be good for the benches, but not the chairs. I think they should have small round tables that sits higher for the chairs. These accommodations would be great especially being that theres a required 2 drinks to purchase. People need a good place to set their drinks and food.
Saw Ralph Barbosa here! He was excellent! $20 parking! On top of $183 for 2 tickets! Drinks were $16 or $22 each! Cheese steak egg rolls are phenomenal! Wish they came with more! Staff was nice! Comedians were funny! Nice venue I liked it alot!! I will be back in the future after I save up some more money!!
The servers were good and the comedians were funny. It took forever to get into the building (it was raining outside), and then it took forever to get seated.
I got a free ticket to come here as part of a Yelp Elite event and was still disappointed in my experience. I purchased a discount ticket for a friend to join me. I would never, ever pay full price to come here. 3 of the 5 comedy acts were funny, the other two were decidedly not and the host was not that great either. The good thing about this place is that food comes extremely fast. They must have everything pre-made because within seconds of ordering the food arrived at the table on three different occasions for my group of 6. The service was great in the beginning, then our server disappeared for a while when I needed another drink and re-appeared when it was time to pay the bill. Although I received an email stating that Yelpers would receive 20% off of their entire bill, the server told me it only counted for my portion of the bill, not my friends (even though I was paying the whole thing) then came back and said it was only for food and not for drinks which means only one item would be discounted. Considering that I didnt like the food or drink I ordered (the lemon pepper wings were tiny, hard, and overcooked but had a good flavor) and came only because of this Yelp event, I was very unhappy. I spoke to a manager and they finally agreed to honor the policy that had been sent out in writing. I really like the area that this place is in, but will not be visiting again
I have been to Punch Line Philly a few times for comedy shows and had good experiences due to the quality of the comedians. The food and drinks are overpriced. Overall, my experiences have always been positive which is why i am giving 3 stars. Some friends and I went Punch Line Philly on a Sunday afternoon for a Prince event and to celebrate a birthday. It was a fun vibe and the live entertainment was fantastic. The price of the event was absurd. General admission was $35 and a 3 course brunch was offered for $76. A friend and I opted to get the 3 course brunch...HUGE mistake! The table service was almost non-existent and the food was some of the worst food I have ever eaten. I am not exaggerating and I am not picky. Growing up in Philly and living here for most of my life, I feel there is zero excuse for food this bad to be served. It was absolutely inedible. My quiche tasted the way a wet dog smells. The salad was inedible due to the bitterness of the dressing. I can get some really amazing brunch In Philly for a third of the price we were charged at this venue. It was actually shocking how bad this food was. This has not been my experience at past events at this venue, although I would say the food has never been memorable or even that good. Still, I would not have written a review to complain about it. It is just..meh. In the past, I have gone to see comedy, not for the food. Drinks were not included in the cost and went for $16 a pop. The drinks were great and the bar staff was friendly and efficient. Only one bartender mentioned that gratuity was included. I worked in the restaurant industry for years and it is just greedy not to mention that. I have no problem leaving a noce tip. However, I dont appreciate being swindled. The entertainment aspect of the event was great, but $76 on a Sunday for what we received was unacceptable. It was just a complete ripoff. Not to mention, some members of our party paid for general admission and were not allowed to sit with us because only people who paid for brunch were allowed to sit. It wasnt crowded enough to justify enforcing this policy and it should have been stated somewhere in the event description. Why would we not want to sit together? Everyone was buyimg drinks as well. Some of the security staff were harassing about this issue. Only one of the security guys seemed to have common sense. There is one security guard who is aggressive and over the top for no reason. I went ot a comedy show a few months ago and one of my friends had a very nasty exchange with her over literally nothing. I cant even remember what the initial issue was, but my friend was met with this security guards disproportionate response. Her demeanor was just off-putting and her behavior, unnecessary. Unfortunately, she was there again today policing our table for who ordered brunch and who didnt. She treated us very disrespectfully and when i asjed where my friends were allowed to sit she said she didnt know because she was just a security guard. We were a group women in our 40s at a Prince event eating an overpriced brunch on a Sunday afternoon. It really wasnt that serious. It is unlike me to write a review like this, but I was genuinely disappointed. I will give Punch Line Philly another chance for a comedy show. A word of advice, I would never recommend purchasing any food package with shows. The whole experience was beyond disappointing in terms of the quality of the food and the lack of organization with different ticket options. The lack of professionalism from several staff members was also very disappointing.
I like this establishment when I came to see Bruce Bruce we were given comp tickets to see T K Kirkland, and, I am not at all thrilled about the fact that it wasn’t explained, via email, text, etc, that you may not see the show due to the amount of tickets that were sold, or whatever the case maybe. We drove a ways to come here, only to be told that the show maybe sold out and we have to wait and see if we can even be seated. That is not good business at all. This establishment knows the number of seats they have, and they should not print more tickets than seats. Theyre not considering how far people have to travel, only to be told you maybe turned away.
Place should be ashamed of themselves stealing money from people. Went to Punch Line for a drag show. We never got our receipts for our bill. Were told by our server Travis that our entire bill was on one card. They had my mom digitally sign off on the one bill and she forgot to include a tip. She specifically apologized to Travis for forgetting to include a tip to which he told her, its okay and its not a problem. So then we left a cash tip as we didnt leave a tip on the card. Then to find out the tip was included! So along with messing up our bill our server took the cash tip that was left for him because we thought we didnt tip him. And we didnt get a receipt even though my mother put her phone number down to receive a text of the receipt!!!! If your servers cannot handle busy events then they shouldnt be working them. Last time we will ever go here and will make sure to tell others not to go as well.
Great comedy club and Im glad they rearranged the tables a bit recently. Drinks are a little overpriced considering all the great breweries in the area and theres a two drink minimum. Luckily if you get there early and order a drink before the show starts that also counts towards the limit. I cant vouch for the food cus theres great food options all around to grab before you get to punchline.
Came to see Kid Fury for a 915 show, doors 830. At 1020 we made the decision to leave after not even being sat in the building because the first show ran so late! Apparently his set goes for 2.5 hours - so long for a comedy show. I’ve never experienced such a wait for comedy show! Highly disappointed and will be seeking a refund. Who expects a 915 late comedy show to go until 1am?!
Came for a comedy show that was supposed to start at 9:15. It never started. We ended up leaving at 10:20 because first 7pm show didn’t get out until 10pm. Overall a mess, will not be returning.
I have seen a few shows here and they have good talent come through regularly. Everything is professional and they know how to host a good comedy show. Drinks could be a little more affordable and one particular member of the wait staff had remarkably bad BO last night, but I like this place and will be back again Im sure.
Might be the worst venue ever for a show, camera quality on the tv is absolute dog shiit. They sat us where we can’t even see the act from the stage. Maybe focus on having a good crowd experience (the point of a comedy show) rather then having so many seats you have to sit guests against the wall. Would love my money back
🧡 Pandemic Poetry 💜@justmikethepoet@maui_w@IamKiraJI am big on poetry and this was my first time going to a show. The entire experience was amazing, I was able to meet and greet some of my favs, the food was good and got delivered quickly, the staff were amazing as well. The seats were very up close and the establishment was spacious.
My partner and I saw Finese Mitchell (headliner) at the comedy club. We laughed and laughed…..great line-up. We will definitely return.
Pros: Great view and general setup for a comedy show. Clean and decently well organized for seating.Cons: Took 20 minutes for our drink order to be taken and there was a two drink minimum. All beers were 19+ ounces, which is too much liquid. At the end of the night the two drink minimum was not enforced, but that was not communicated. As a result I ordered a drink for no reason.Overall experience was good and bad. Hopefully they work out the issues.
Im reviewing the venue, not the show we saw. There are several problems with this venue:If you are driving here, parking in the giant lot next to the Fillmore is fine. Punchline is not clear about which lot you can use. The original parking address we were given was 1025 N Front St, which was the middle of a street with no where to park, according to Google Maps.If the staff asks if you purchased advance tickets, its the same as preferred tickets. You need to make sure they seat you at a preferred table, otherwise they will seat you wherever. We were originally seated at the back, but once we asked staff they corrected the issue.Your waiter will likely not show up, no matter where you are seated. Definitely eat BEFORE you come. You need to flag anyone down and ask for your waiter to come. We were seated directly in front of the stage, and we had to ask someone elses waiter to get our waiter, even though we had been seated 30 minutes before the show.If you need to use the restroom, do it BEFORE the end of the show. They send everyone through an exit to the street, and we had to ask the bouncer up front to get back in to use the restroom.I think most of the issues are due to them being short-staffed. If you have 300+ people coming, maybe include at least 30 staff. Its not a great experience to pay for premium tickets and be confused the whole night. All of this being said, the staff are willing to to help. Dont need afraid to ask someone!
Best time ever during Open Mic Mondays! Watching someone who isnt funny try to be funny is equally hilarious as watching a professional comedian perform. Great atmosphere and staff as well. Drinks are fair priced and admission for open mic was just 5 bucks. Im absolutely going back again soon!
Went to see Ian Fidance on 11/18/22 - hilarious comedian! My review is for the venue. While I get comedy clubs enforce a 2 drink minimum, you’re guaranteed to spend $60+ for 2 people due to the lack of affordable options at Punchline. Food items should count towards your 2 item minimum and they don’t. Most comedy clubs/venues sell a 12 oz beer which isn’t an option here. I think it’s crazy to only have 24 oz beer available (with the exception of IPA’s). They could have used another server since our server was running around the whole night. Our check for 2 wines, 2 beers, tax, and an automatic 18% tip was $64. This cost more than the comedy tickets. We left 4 full drinks on the table which went directly into the trash when the show wrapped up. I wouldn’t come to a show here again.
Unpleasant Evening at Punchline City***I recently attended Punchline City as a gift from a friend, and unfortunately, it turned out to be a rather disappointing evening.**Customer Service Experience:**Upon arriving, I faced issues with seating. The young lady at the booth was unhelpful and even aggressive when I tried to find a suitable place to sit. Despite expressing understanding of the seating policy, no resolution was provided, and the situation became unnecessarily confrontational.**Venue Experience:**During the show, the experience was marred by constant distractions, interruptions, and view obstructions caused by staff taking drink orders due to an undisclosed 2+ drink minimum rule. The waiter was pushy, and orders were repeatedly incorrect. The payment process was inconvenient, as waiters bombarded the isle and tables to get payments. Additionally a free ticket offer did little to redeem the overall unpleasant experience. In conclusion, Punchline City failed to deliver a positive comedy show experience. The lack of transparency regarding policies, coupled with poor customer service and numerous disruptions, make it an unappealing choice. I wouldnt recommend this venue and suggest exploring smaller, more established comedy shows for a more enjoyable evening.
A good place to watch a show. They have a 2drink minimum so be prepared. The parking is a bit vague. They wanted me to pre pay for a free lot & not sure why. The ticket for the show should have been enough plus the 2 over priced drinks. The show was good. I would go back to see another show. The place could use a lil better lighting as well. The food needs to be upgraded. This is Philadelphia we are known to have good food at most places.
I enjoyed the amateur comedy show. The food and drinks were above average even though the waitress brought me the incorrect cocktail. However, some of the staff members were a little disorganized and unclear about the seating, which was somewhat annoying, especially since the club wasnt sold out and there werent reserved seats. Therefore, our seat choice shouldnt have been an issue.
Nice place but the menu is hella expensive. Had great seats to see Kid Fury and would definitely go back
I really did not WANT to do this, but I feel I must. We had a terrible experience here, and I was going to allow myself to believe it was an outlier, but when I got home and read other reviews, I quickly realized our experience isnt as much an outlier as it is the norm.Ill start with the Pros: awesome, clean, beautiful venue. Callback bar is amazing. The sound was great. The look and feel of everything on the surface SCREAMS that this place is better than Helium. Unfortunately, the Pros end there. We purchased Preferred tickets and showed up early for the late show, before the early show let out. We were immediately checked in and assigned a table number, great! After the early show exited, an employee stood up and loudly announced that we should get in line shortly and we will be allowed in. She was interrupted by the GM who loudly announced that theyd be letting people in in batches based on table number. Ok.About ten minutes later, we noticed a line of people entering, so we joined the line. Probably 50-60 people entered the venue. We were next to enter, and the GM came out and said that a certain set of tables can enter. I asked why the change up, he said they were doing it that way the entire time. I explained that wasnt the case, he told me hes the GM and that Im wrong. As Im watching people in the front row sitting, he told me they werent letting people in with that low of a table number. I tried pointing out how wrong he was, but he refused to listen. We are doing it this way to make it more efficient. This process assuredly did anything but that. The show was supposed to start at 9:45. By the time we got seated at 9:50 (no big deal) people who Id seen in the front row sitting 20 min earlier were already being served their food. By 10:00 they were done their food, and we still hadnt spoken to a waiter. The show started at 10:05, still no table touch from a waiter. Finally at 10:10, we were able to place our order. I glanced around and saw people all over the back eating food. Meanwhile our preferred seats which allowed us to be efficiently sat seemed to be incredibly inefficient.Anyway, the headliner came on at 10:35, and we still hadnt received our food or drinks. Finally our food came out at 10:45, no drinks. The waiter finally came back at 10:55 with my card to close out the tab, and I had to say weve been here almost an hour and still dont have our drinks. He apologized, and we finally got our drinks 3 minutes later. Its a mix up, things happen, but this did appear to be happening to other people at other tables. At 11:15 the manager came and gave us two free drinks. Which sure, thats a nice gesture, but the shows basically over at this point, and people have to drive home. So while this was a nice gesture, it was truly too little too late.Theres a recurring theme in these reviews that says meeting the 2 drink minimum is impossible and it quite literally is. The waiter wanted to close out tab at 10:55 without us even receiving our drinks, or even asking if we wanted anything else. Our experience emulates that.Long story short, if you are coming here, the service and procedures of everything are truly terrible. If youre paying for Preferred Seating, thats the ONLY aspect of the experience thats Preferred. Ordering food? Drinks? Sorry, you will be last to order and receive, because you will be seated last. Unless of course you get inside before the GM changes entry procedures right in the middle of entry. Then youre Gucci. But hey, this is efficient for them. And thats what matters most. Most of these reviews I read dont mention sitting in Preferred, which tells me that these experiences are universal across the venue. Its a shame, because I truly feel with proper management and better procedures, this could be the best club in Philly. Basically every single aspect of the experience is better than Helium, but the service is terrible. Like many other reviewers, I never received a receipt, no option to receive one. We likely wont be coming back.
Cool spot to hang out and listen to creative poets.Updated review:My friend and I enjoy coming here to see headliner, Godfrey. We have a fantastic time laughing when he comes to town. The staff here are friendly and some are accommodate, which means a lot. The servers are hard working and awesome. The only thing that annoyed us was being redirected regarding our phones. We had our phones out to check our phones. We were told to not be on our phones some time after having it out. When we entered it was requested that the phones are on silent. Never would we récord any of the comedians due to respect and integrity. It was a little odd to us. First for us.Anyway, overall, a fantastic place to enjoy the evening.
This place was great. Everyone from the host to the headliner were fantastic. There is a 2 item minimum order to consider if youre worried about it, but the show was great and definitely worth it. Its a very well setup place, and their drink prices are pretty competitive for being a private establishment.
Diva Drag Brunch! This was the most fun Ive had in a long time. The drinks at the bar had a kick -- one drink was included in the admission price along with a light brunch menu of about eight selections, i.e. Eggs Benedict, Omelets, Cobb Salad, Grits and Shrimp were a few. Our food came out timely, and everything was hot. The performances were awesome. I will go back to see a different show in the future.
Here for the Ali Siddiq show. Both he and his openers were hilarious. The venue, however, left everything to be desired. Terrible experience. It’s a two drink minimum, but that’s nothing new. However, despite ordering before the show began, it wasn’t until it was 85% finished that the server realized none of the orders for the ENTIRE table had been delivered. So they take our orders again. We ask how long it’ll take for our drinks and chicken tenders to come out and are informed that technically the kitchen is closed, but they’ll have to make an exception for us. Everyone else aside from my sister and me have received their drinks. Two guests received two mixed drinks each and I’m still without my FOUNTAIN DRINK. My sister had initially been handed one of the drinks that was intended for the other patrons and then had it taken back to give to the other party. Fifteen minutes go by and then someone else comes with an order pad. It’s the manager. She apologizes about the mishap and offers everyone an additional round of drinks on the house. I haven’t gotten my soda yet. Ten minutes later my drink comes. My sister’s drink looks nothing like the original one she had been handed, and it’s not in the same souvenir tumbler. She informs the manager of this and the manager tells her that it’s a $25 drink. Yes, we’re aware, but that’s what was ordered! Long and frustrating story short, our food never came, the rushed hibiscus bourbon tea was gross, and my Pepsi was flat. The show ended 2 minutes after receiving our drinks. Can’t see myself returning or recommending the venue.
I was here for a show in the beginning of January 2024. I was seated by the host about 10 minutes before the house lights went down. I had been sitting at my table for 20 minutes without acknowledgment from servers, and THEN two other guests were sat at my table. The person who helped them did not look at me, and did not respond to me when I tried to get their attention when they brought back whatever it is the people at my table ordered. Literally an hour and 3 minutes after I had been seated at that table, not a single server or busser even made eye contact with me. So I just left. Super unprofessional and does not make me want to ever come back.
Nice venue, but there needs to be better signage regarding parking. I had NO idea owns the lot behind the venue
Love all the acts Ive seen at Punch Line. Do not love that the very pricey 2 drink minimum.First of all, I get it at smaller clubs, not running tickets through ticket master, to help cover costs. Second of all, other clubs like Helium offer a 2 item minimum, so I dont have to orded drinks if I dont want to. Third is the pricing- a diet pepsi is 7 dollars, anything with alcohol his 12 minimum, so on top of my ticket I have to minimum spend 20 bucks (to n/a drinks and tip).If PunchLine could adjust either the 2 drink minimum or lower their prices my rating would go up. Its a real deterrence from me seeing shows there
Won tickets to a live podcast show from The Lapsed Fan during Wrestlemania weekend. I didn’t know what to expect but I had a blast.
All comedy shows have a 2-drink minimum, and each drink is a tall-boy style drink, so they are essentially forcing you to spend $30 on four beers. Ridiculous rule. Otherwise the show was fine, the stage is well lit and the sound was at a good level.
Fun spot seen Cory B and cast they all we awesome well kept spot clean fun environment and good food .Go check them out !!
Not really a bad seat in the house. Ive been there a few times, had laughs, drinks, and food. Might want to consider eating elsewhere before the show for the two drink minimum.
Great venue and great acts. The two drink minimum and each beer being a double makes me wish there was more selection, especially with such a thriving micro brew climate. Happy that mocktails are an option for our non-drinker.
We had a great time last night, as usual. Been coming for years, the venue’s staff (management, host, security, bar and servers) are always friendly and professional. The restrooms are always clean.9 out of 10 times the Comics are laugh out loud funny and other times they’re humorous, either way we ALWAYS have a good time!Parking is $20 cash, or street parking. Drinks and food are expensive, but tasty! Plenty of nonalcoholic options. Buy the carafe, that counts as two drinks.
There is a two drink minimum with beers starting at $14 and cocktail starting at $22. This isnt written or described anywhere. The comics were good but the venue is super strict in every aspect. Audience engagement was also capped and YOU WILL BE KICKED OUT IF YOURE TOO ENGAGED in the show.Imagine enjoying and supporting a comic and being punished.Me personally, Im never coming back. Go to another venue.GREAT SCAM venue though!!!!!Update:I am able to buy a ticket without the drink claim being validated or presented to me at any point in the checkout process. I believe you may have some false information! .... Thats embarrassing
The food and drinks were HORRIBLE! They have a 2 drink minimum that they dont tell you about when you buy the ticket. I wouldnt attend this place again
Fun drag show. Highly recommend seeing a show. The food and drinks were incredibly expensive so thats something to consider while youre there. The food and drinks for 2 people was $120 for two mains, 2 drinks , and one side
Saw a great comedy show here, laughed until my stomach hurt. the callback bar is great
It was okay. Security guard was really cool and down to earth. Our waitress was nice. It took a really long time for the frozen drinks because they just turned them on when we ordered. We only ordered fries with beer cheese. There was a problem with the bill toward the end. So missed the end of the last act while the manager just argued with us. It was straightened out when it was over. We were told the comedian was asking what was going on while we were talking. The entire show was being filmed. Disappointed in missing the rest of his gig.The crowd was in good spirits. A couple got engaged before the show. The boyfriend sang a song to her at the tables while their friends videoed the moment. It was sweet and romantic. One of the comedians busted on them later about not picking a better place to get engaged. Was told her ring was beautiful, and so was she. The crowd age was between 20s and 60s.Subjects of the comedian script pertained to relationships, politics, race, and gender. All the tension that our country faces today. Had a few giggles and laughs. Some were in poor taste, some were right on mark.Over all the show was good. We tipped the waitress by our first bill, once adjusted, she got the difference. No cameras, cell phones, or recording devices allowed during the show. A woman sitting at out table was accused of having her cellphone on in her lap by security. When her cellphone was sticking out of her purse sitting on the table. It was off.Another distraction during the show. She was falsely accused. My group sat with another 2 groups at the table.Waitress added our bill with another group. It was another inconvenience but we worked it out among us.It would have been a better show all around without the constant disruptions. These comedians work hard to put this show together. Management needs an upgrade to ensure the crowd is at least comfortable and can watch the show. Like it states on their menu. No talking during the show. Will update when I have all the comedian names. Was told one was on the late show on TV.The show itself was organized and they did an excellent job.The only reason for the 4 stars.
I went to a show here with my partner. The comedians were all pretty good, however the 2 drink minimum, considering the prices they are charging are ridiculous. I don’t typically drink so I ordered two bottles of regular water. Each bottle cost $5. I’ve seen cheaper prices in big name stadiums. Obviously it’s a ploy as they want you to spend a lot of money even if you’re not drinking alcohol. (Alcohol prices are expensive as well with the cheapest beer being $14). On top of the automatically applied 18% gratuity was a service charge. Not sure how I ended up paying $13 for water. I won’t be returning, I’ve gone to other venues in philly for comedy and this one stood out as a rip off
I don’t normally leave reviews but this place was a rip off. My partner and I showed up for a show that was wonderful, but there was a mandatory two drink minimum (fine, whatever), so we thought we’d be fine grabbing a beer and a water. Turns out they only served like the largest cans of beer possible (14 bucks for a yuenling) and we were driving so we ended up spending nearly 40 dollars on one shared beer and a bunch of liquid death just to meet the two drink per person minimum. And they didn’t tell us that gratuity AND a separate $6 service charge would be added. Complete rip off, never going back.
Very relaxing atmosphere, and overall a really great venue to see a comedy show. Would recommend to anyone looking to have a good time with some laughs! We will definitely be going back there. We did get VIP tickets and were happy with where we were seated, but there is not a bad seat in the place. 5 Stars for Punch Line Philly!
Overall this venue does exactly whats advertised. The two shows Ive been to ran for over two hours, so you do get a lot for the ticket price. The drinks can be pricey so maybe just get two sodas or waters at the beginning of the show to fulfill the minimum, should run you around 15 total. If youre really in the mood to drink, maybe try getting a house mixed drink? Its really just not a great place to drink tbh. The chairs can get a little uncomfortable towards the end of the show. But overall, it was very spacious, everyone was respectful, decent sound system. Good memorable time for a Saturday night!
Had a great time. Two comedians. Opening and main act. Two drink minimum is a bit much as it encouraged too much drinking IMHO but whatever. Friendly staff. All tables have a great view.
Very nice venue overall and fantastic show, but the required drink options are ridiculous and Ive never seen anything like it.Beer is only available in 24-25oz cans and they require you to get 2 for a 1-hour show. Thats kind of crazy and dangerous. Also each beer is $14 and they charge an automatic 18% gratuity for the 2 drink minimum (of very questionable options and prices).2-drink minimum is pretty normal for these types of venue. Usually they have normal drink options, but this was absurd.Update and fix the drink options and an 18% gratuity on required (large only) drinks for a one-hour show is kind of wild.Id recommend avoiding this venue unless you have a specific person youre seeing.
Great venue and acts, the two drink minimum was silly because we got served once at the very beginning of the show and not asked again until the very end of the show. Good service and friendly staff just bad timing.
It was an amazing time! More importantly though, they are AMAZING with accessibility. Quele particularly helped so much. From arranging a table before the show for me and also checking up on me when I got there to make sure everything was okay. I couldn’t stay the entire show but I will definitely be going back for another one. Great shows and great staff.
The comedy shows have been fun. However, I would not recommend the Drag Brunch. It was more like a strip show where the performers just go around to collect your dollar bills. It was only mildly entertaining even if the disco music themed acts were a good attempt. The 2-drink minimum is annoying enough, but the brunch food was terrible!Sutton was really fab, though; Girl, you were shinning!
This was the most unorganized comedy show experience Ive ever had in a major city. Came to see Ali Siddiq, it was a sold out show with a 2 drink minimum. They didnt have enough staff for a sold out show. My table of 8, 4 pairs, received nothing we ordered. We alerted our waitress, who we didnt see after she took our order until tabs were being handed out. She apologized, retook our orders and told us everything was on the house. How about they messed up several of the orders a second time! The manager then came over to rectify the issue and lo and behold her customer service skills were subpar and our orders were messed up a third time.I still have yet to receive my chocolate cake as I write this review from the comfort of my vehicle. I will likely return because this is where the comedians I enjoy come when they are in town but just be prepared for a 0 star experience.
This was my first time going here. The employees were very helpful. The you get your moneys worth for the drinks and they had some small meals but I had such a great time!! The guest for the night was Godfrey and his crew. Super funny. I laughed all night. Ill definitely be coming back again
I want to start this by saying that the comedians we came to see AND the entire staff were incredible. They made the night worth anything. The venue? If youre going to force a 2 drink minimum, dont jack up the prices for the drinks that are sub-par at best. There is NO reason a comedy venue should be charging $150 for four plain, mid-shelf whiskeys and two small items of bar food. Outrageous. Not to mention I got one more SINGLE MAKERS MARK at the end of the night at the bar and it was $20??? This alone would make me not return. Also, assigned seats at a comedy club? Ridiculous.
I went there for another event but the staff was very nice and professional, especially security. The bathroom was clean and maintained.
Shows are great. Bar can get packed. Get there early.
This place is terrible. Do NOT use a credit/debit card there. Only use cash. They will take you card to start a tab but never show or give you the receipt to sign (and add a tip if you choose). The service was horrible. The food came 1.5hrs after ordering. The worst was waking up the next day to find out they charged a lot more than expected. Now I have to file police reports for theft of credit card as well as contact the AG Offc of Consumer Protection.SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLES, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Saw Chris Porter on Jan 28, 2023. Great comedy club. 20$ parking lot nearby and right next to the Fillmore and Other Half Brewing. Standard drinks and food pricing but surprisingly, the food was actually pretty good. Definitely better food than any other comedy club I’ve been to. Was at the DC Improv earlier in Jan and the food at the improv was lousy in comparison.Seating was well arranged and comfortable - you expect it to be tight but it was more comfortable than I expected. Service as great - staff did a great job bringing out the drinks and food timely and unobtrusively.I would highly recommend this venue.
Bought $28 tickets for a comedy show on a Saturday night. They blindsided us because you are required to buy a minimum of two drinks per person. Drinks are outrageously priced. For example, the canned cider is $13. Completely crazy. The general convention is Free entrance = two drink minimum; Cover charge = no drink required to be bought.I wish I could say that the comedians were good -- they werent. What a lousy night.Drink great drinks at home and watch free comedy on YouTube -- youll be much happier.
What more can i say. Its a comedy club with amble space. The only “downside” is that they have a 2 drink minimum as opposed to a 2 item minimum. So food doesnt count. So whatever the ticket price is, add a minimum of $10 extra per person, which is the cheapest option
The show included one mimosa which was a shot basically! The orange juice was bad🤢 the drag queens didn’t really put a show on rather walked around collecting tips. The bartenders were horrible and took so long for us to get waited on. There were only a few ppl at the bar it was crazy. The liquor tasted watered down. Make sure you bring lots of money because it is very expensive! I paid $18 for a can of beer! The one good thing was the servers that came to the tables were great. This is the first drag show that I’ve been to that didn’t include anything, well a mimosa shot was all we got. I wouldn’t recommend going to this show.
Nice atmosphere with plenty of seating inside the theater. Theres a lounge and bar area outside thats spacious and comfortable. The food and drinks were good.
The show was great but the food was subpar and expensive. The 2 drink minimum doesnt mean 2 purchases. It really means drinks; with or w/o alcohol. My friends and I normally spend the same amount for a full dinner, not just freezer apps and drinks. I will be better prepared next time.
Honestly feel like I’m being generous with 3 stars. The staff was pretty rude and the drinks were ridiculously overpriced. We had to flag someone down to even give us service and then wait about 30 minutes for our food and drinks. Then they already added gratuity which is fine but I don’t think they deserved 20% for literally taking an order and then being rude when we asked where our drinks were.
On the day I went to see the comics, they were not that funny but I respect the hustle.. The server was aggressive in taking the order and he was pleasant..a bit impatient... But I loved that they have a nice lounging area outside, that was really nice.. Security was respectful and helpful.. I would go again, nice atmosphere but I probably eat before I get there
Really nice venue you can see the stage well from every angle. I like their drinks and their staff is super friendly. They have a really nice food menu. I just wish they had some more food allergy friendly options. But, overall you should definitely go here! Nothing better than Philly comedy!
Saw Stanzi Potenza here and it was frigging hilarious. Expect a two drink minimum per person, but that doesnt have to be alcohol, so DDs are OK to attend. Drinks are expensive and I would stick to bottles or speciality drinks they offer. Asked for a Makers Manhattan last time and whike it get me buzzed, it was all bourbon.
Your website and your bouncer said I could come to the box office to buy tickets for a comedian but the box office is only open while a show is going on. I showed up during an open mic night and got told the box office was closed? I emailed the website to find out what qualifies as a show and I messaged on IG - NO RESPONSE. If you’re loyal to Live Nation’s insane “convenience” fees then take the box office purchase info off your site. Ridiculous.
I recently went to Phillys Punch Line comedy club to see Godfrey, as always he did his thing. The food was good and the show on point. The only issue was the waitress serving my section. She spent majority of her night doing everything else but serving my areas guests.
My wife and I had a great first time experience at Punch line. We went to an All Star show. There were about 5 different comedians. Its a kinda small place so every seat is a good seat. Food was good mostly finger food, eat before you come if your hungry. Theres a two drink minimum but for $22 you can get a souvenir cup 1 drink. Entering and exiting was easy and smooth. Entering you just need ID, mobile ticket and metal detector winde down by security. I parked on the street around back, pretty quite lite block. We will definitely check out another show.
Went to see Open Mic Comedy Night. Lots of fun and watching people of all ages perform. Only $5 plus a service fee of almost $5 dollars. A good place to go after work on a Monday. Especially if youve been sitting in an office all day.
Comedians we saw were 5 stars all the way. Highly recommend. We went Sunday night to a 7:30 show. After being carded (all in our mid 40s) small purse searched, metal detector walk thru, then wanded metal detector and bag searched we went in.Drinks are OUTRAGEOUSLY over priced. Like above and beyond. 22.00 for one cocktail. Ask for water (after being asked sparkling or regular) we say regular and are brought a 5.00 can of Liquid Death water. After asking for a double Titos and water and there being no vodka in either drink. To the point we thought maybe they forgot (21.00). We get our bill during the show so its dark and you cant see. Give them the CC and they return with a slip that says tip, total, etc.So we get home and I look, they add 18% gratuity to the bill. They add it kinda sneaky too as its not its on line item, it is added to look like a drink ingredient.Waitress made out like a bandit as we tipped 38.00 on a 68.00 check. There are much better comedy clubs to try. Would not go back.
THE DRINKS ORDERED AT THE BAR DO NOT COUNT TOWARDS THE 2 DRINK MINIMUM. BEWARE!! It is a scam. Only order once seated. Everything else was great though.. so it’s a shame. I don’t know if I’ll ever be back after this experience :/
Fun comedy show with good food and drink options during the performance. The show was great and had a musical opening act while guests arrived before the comedy opener. The main act was also good, and the wait staff was very kind and attentive.
Beer at the venue was alright, comedy was out of this world (Phil Hanley)
The Big Wig Brunch is a must see in my book. It was so much fun and the performers were phenomenal! It was my first drag show and it was the best!
Pleasant staff and straight with the rules which is the same at most comedy clubs. My only fuss was coffee is not on the menu. I didnt ask for hot chocolate but tea was available.
Great venue. Great service from the wait staff. Pricey (but tasty) food and drink. My wife and I each got 2 sodas, an appetizer, and a dessert and it came to about $60, then they put an %18 gratuity on top of it.. so about $72. Wed still definitely go back but next time probably just stick to drinks. :-)
Came here to see Ryan Davis and he was great along with his opening acts.Arrived early because seating is 1st come 1st served and there’s a 2 drink minimum and 18% gratuity is already included. Drinks were expensive in my opinion and the food was okay. My fries were nice and crispy and just the right amount of salt but goodness they would’ve been better if they were hot, my cheesesteak egg roll was just okay, something about it was off to me. We were seated at a table with I believe 8 chairs and told we couldn’t sit next to/across from each other but rather behind one another r this is rather odd when you’re with someone and have to keep turning around to talk or sit kinda sideways. When purchasing the tickets online, I didn’t see any option for VIP seating or for the high-tops which allowed for 2 people. Wish we would’ve seen the option or been provided the option to purchase and sit in a booth or high top. They do require you to wear your mask and proof of vaccination upon entering but I did see many people not wearing there mask once inside and it wasn’t something that was being forced (I mean we are all pretty much eating and drinking). I believe they said that there were almost 300 people inside (I’ll continue to mask up while trying to enjoy life again). The staff was busy. Back and forth back and forth and they were all pleasant and working together. Didn’t matter if the person was originally your server, if you needed something or table to be cleared someone was coming to do it and make sure you were good. The decor is really neat nice with a big design of the bridges and the stage backdrop is pipes that look like the Philly skyline.Along with purchasing the tickets we purchased parking at 1025 N Front street because we were unsure of the situation out there but because we arrived so early, there was free street parking.
Me and some friends went to the Beyonce themed drag brunch. The show was great! Food wad small portioned and not a lot of options. Free mimosa was the best drink because it wasnt watered down. If the food was better, I would have given 5 🌟
I think it’s important to note that the two drink minimum DOES include water and any/all non alcoholic beverages. This establishment is not forcing anyone who enters to drink alcohol so I think it’s important to clarify this as so many people keep reviewing negatively about the 2 drink minimum. You can have two waters at $5 each and gtf over it.I had a great time seeing Chaunte Waynes. She was funny and the staff was pleasant and attentive enough without being too intrusive or aloof. I’d definitely come back.
Ryan Davis did a great job. They have a two drink minimum, not a two item minimum. And the drink that I got which they said counted as two drinks had no alcohol in it at all
Went for a comedy show (free tickets), door man was pretty rude when telling us the event was pushed back an hour so we went for dinner instead.. I’ve been here for a drag brunch before and that was good.
The club is nice. Depending on the comedians they can draw curtains for eztra tables. Clean and staff is super nice. Standard pub grub. Hummus, Fries, Wings, Burgers etc. Some of the comedians are seemingly so bad that they give tickets away. You may receive emails stating that youve won tickets and then Punchline will guarantee themselves money by requiring a two drink minimum and one meal from the menu minimum (per person)Dont get me wrong there are tons of great comedians on the circuit but when they give tickets away, you might want to at the very least raise eyebrows and do your homework on the comedians 🤣
I gave it 2 stars for many reasons. First things first it was extremely cold, the seating was extremely uncomfortable & too close together. The food was atrocious not to mention the pricing was absolutely ridiculous. $14 for a twisted tea? Me & my date had 4 beers, with disgusting fries & mozzarella sticks. My bill was $104 dollars. Like seriously? Money isn’t an issue but talk about inflation. The comics were really good but it was so difficult to enjoy the show with all this nonsense going on. If you’re reading this review. Trust me don’t waste your time or money. As an avid comedy show attender this was horrible
People are definitely good here employee wise. Nice and helpful and professional. However the vibe of the crowd feels very suburban yuppie.. Which throws off the comedy show vibe. Its 3/4 yuck and 1/4 legit comedy fans. Ill stick with Helium. First time trying and while theyre making money for sure, its not about quantity, its about quality regarding patrons. But this area is changing so rapidly and losing its quality.
First time at the Punch Line Philly and it was a GREAT experience! Although I came to see my adopted son, Lawrence Owens🥰 who is truly, HILARIOUS🤣 I enjoyed ALL the Comedians including the host, G aka Funeral Director😅 The staff was very, nice and the food was good. Oh shout out to the Lady DJ too👏🏽
Punchline- like.going.to.prisonWhere do I begin?I’m over 50. Didn’t drive to the venue so didn’t bring license. Their policy required license/ID. Ummmm pulled up my vaccine card from my photos… and needed something to verify the name… showed my credit card. ?Next, in line we were ordered to stand in a “single file line”… twice… in order to make room…. There were 12 people in the whole place. When it was our turn to be seated, we couldn’t be seated because 1 of 4 people of our party hadn’t arrived yet. Again… there were twelve people in the place. We’d have to “take a chance” that the seat won’t be filled because they fill each table. So we wait. We were asked to move out of the line, which literally had no one in it.So we go to the bar to get a drink while we wait for the fourth person. **side note. There is a 2 drink minimum for each ticket holder.** we had a pregnant person with us and didn’t even care about THIS restriction… until we go to order drinks at the lobby bar… and.. THE DRINKS IN THE LOBBY BAR WON’T COUNT TOWARD THE 2 DRINK MIN.We finally get seated at a FOUR TOP TABLE. Anyone who is following along knows how insane this is since we had a party of four and could’ve been seated there initially while we waited for guest number 4.Anyway - we came out for an afternoon of laughs and were completely agitated and ready to get food and drinks. We order drinks and apps and ask the server if we can order sandwiches a little later and she says yes of course. The show starts and the comedians were great.Another person who had a ticket and arrived after it started wasn’t let in to meet her boyfriend because the host said “there are no guys in there”.The host followed her into the venue and continued to ask everyone questions and disrupt the whole audience-there was 20 minutes left of the show. Finally, when the sever showed up again, we wanted to order more food, we were told the kitchen was closed.Sooo, the place opened at 3, the show ended at 5:20. The kitchen is open for 1 hour? This was THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I would NEVER go again. It’s Sad because the entertainers worked hard and were very good-Oh and my $24 drink came with a souvenir plastic shaker.Over priced garbage apps and drinks. Gratuity included. They were luck for that.
Really dropped the ball on the drinks. My husband was waiting for his drink for most of the show. I ordered my second water and it never got brought to the table so my husband went up to the bar to ask for one and they gave him a room temperature one that had just been sitting out. For $5 a water that was pretty lame. Not great service but the show was awesome and the drinks themselves were tasty. We were happy to see them host JP Sears as well.
The drag brunch is much fun!! The menu is a little pricey, but worth it. The themed drinks are all so cute (most had edible glitter and some sort of keepsake!). If you bring a 20, they will exchange it for singles to tip the performers. We saw the Abba theme which was spectacular, but the whole show was a blast.
Good venue but no bike parking, which is unacceptable in 2022. Would be happy to change to 5 stars if they add some bike racks. EDIT: Saw the response, Ill ask security next time I am here and well see how it goes! I still dont understand why you dont just put a bike rack out front though.
My sister and I had a lot of fun and all 3 comics were great. Chris Redd was the headliner and he was very funny, just wish he wasnt so high. I know hes better than the show we got.
The drinks are pricey and they require a minimum of two drinks. Paid $28 for the worst rose theres possibly out there. The quality of the wine was clearly a bottom shelf wine, if not worse. Only one comedian was funny. Felt like a total waste of time and money.
Servers should NOT walk about taking orders during the show. Do all that before the main act takes the stage. Maybe take orders online before guests are seated.
I had a GREAT time !!!!! My first drag show & there were all types of people in the audience...... straight, gay,bi, etc.,etc. Appeared to me that EVERYONE had a Wonderful time ! Will go back !!!!
Excellent show with Nigel Ng, great venue, good food, over priced drinks (expected). What wasnt expected, based on all the reviews I read, was getting there early meant better seats. We were one of the first 20 people in and were seated at a table 2 rows from the back wall. I watched and listened to a couple come in behind us, state that they general admission, not preferred, and be placed at a table 2 rows ahead of us. Thankfully the comedy was enjoyable so I didnt let the pole ruin the night.
Enjoyed seeing No Such Thing As a Fish here. Though I dont live in Philadelphia, Ill certainly consider going back for other shows. From the moment I walked up to the door, every single employee I interacted with was helpful and friendly. The kind of friendly that felt sincere and welcoming, not the plastered smile, checking the boxes of expected customer service. From the security at the door, the person checking our bags (for free), the bartender, and our server, each of them had a helpful tip for us on our first time there. The bar itself was nice and the outside seating was great to relax and chat while waiting for the Uber to the train. A few of us werent sure if getting a drink at the bar before the doors to the show opened counted towards the 2 drink min. It doesnt, but it was still a nice treat. We were sat very close to the stage which was great! Our server advised buying a double shot in your drink meets the 2 drink requirements. Also worth adding that the great staff there were organized, professional, and worked highly efficiently. Great venue all around 👍
Saw the Disney Drag brunch. The drag queens were incredible especially Vinchelle. The food and drink were great too. The service was not good. We asked for water and she never gave it to us; and she also forgot to take our food order. We had to remind her 😅. It felt like we were the servers ourselves. Definitely a great experience tho.
Very friendly staff, great atmosphere. One of my favorite spots to see a comedy show. Note that there is a 2 item minimum per person.
Excellent comedy show and nice venue with perfect acoustics, good service, tasty food and comfortable seating. Lower rating as they nickel and dime you with extra costs - 2 drink minimum per person (~$15 ea drink!!), automatic $18% gratuity, and a huge $36 “convenience fee” added to my charge card (an absurd amount which wasn’t disclosed in advance!!) and pricey food items made this a VERY expensive evening - over $115 for 2 people on top of the show tickets. I’d rather go somewhere nicer and pay more for the tickets than be nickel and dimed. Disappointed to see such a nice venue being so poorly managed
03/12/23This was the worst comedy show I have ever attended, no exaggeration. A 24 oz Corona beer is $14, which would be forgivable if the comedians were good but they were not. Hannibal Thompson was unfunny, long, and insufferable. We hastily paid our bill and headed out the exit. My total bill for the meal and drinks (2 people) was $143. All three comedians and the host were milking the crowd for any chuckles they could get. It was painful to watch, especially after being in Baltimore the night before at the Comedy Factory and having a great time. I hope this is not an example of Philly’s comedy.
Great venue for shows. The food and drinks are good. I hadnt been since before COVID. It was a great time. The food was good, but a bit salty. Our server was very friendly. And the show was great. Im glad to have gone back for the first time since 2018!
I came to PLP for the first time to see David Arnold perform (great show by the way) and going back in less than two weeks time. What I liked was the look and feel of the space. I don’t think there are any bad seats in the venue which is great. I went to the show with one of my girlfriends and we had General Admission seating.I got there about 45 minutes prior to show time so I was seated almost center to the stage in the next to the last row of seats.I waited for my girlfriend to arrive before I ordered food but the service was quick. We ordered the platter that included mozzarella sticks, vegetable spring rolls, chicken bites, cheesesteak dumplings, French fries, and different sauces. The platter is enough to feed two people. I missed where it said it included a pretzel so it was a pleasant surprise. The one downside to mention is when your food comes out and the show has started, it’s very dark at the table or at least at table 73. We pulled our phones out to use the light to see our food.PARKING: there is free street parking if you can find a spot. I lucked up and found a spot through the back of the building on Richmond St. After the show, we exited out the back door to the right of the stage (when facing the stage). From this exit, I walked the pathway that is roughly a half a city block to Richmond St to get to my car.TIP: Get there early, order your food and dine before the show starts.
Decent venue. The staff are *very* hit and miss. Some are friendly and helpful; others are almost comically rude. The food is mediocre; the drinks are decent, though predictably over priced. The outside area is open to dogs, which of course makes everything better.
Good venue, but 2 drink min. means drinks, not 2 menu items like every other club. DC Improv, Magoobys, Helium, and the Comedy Cellar clubs all have two menu item minimums that include ordering foodI get minimums, but at least let me get a french fry in the process
TuRae Gordon is amazing. Very appreciative of the work he and his partner does with up and coming comedians! However, the staff at Punchline leave a lot to be desired. Not very cordial or welcoming at all....
Seating was good! Ticket prices were great! The food... Eat before you go. The food was not very good so I would suggest dinner before you go. Even the bar food snack items were marginal at best. Service for said food and drinks, was the only thing worse. Maybe it was our server, but it took over 20 minutes to get drink orders, to include water. If you go here, it should be for the show alone. All other aspects of the venue struggle.
The only good thing about Punchline is the comedy. Parking was horrendous. There is a parking down the street that looks like you wont make it out alive! The place itself is ok. What was awful was the service, the food, the drinks. There was only 1 waitress for a whole room full of people. The food was awful, burnt and super expensive. The charged almost $30 for an appetizer sampler that was served in a small box. The food was overcooked, some even burnt. The drinks run about $15 and up. Wouldnt mind if the actually put alcohol in them. But you are required to buy 2 drinks so you will spend $30-40 and feel like you drank water. The comedy was enjoyable. I suggest if you go here, eat before you go and take a flask with you! Punchline should be ashamed of their food and drink prices and quality.
Ive been here on multiple occasions, and its always been a nice time. There is a 2 drink minimum, so be prepared for that. You can have drinks at the bar before the show starts, which can be counted towards the minimum as long as you hold on to your receipt. There is plenty of free parking right behind the building as well.
Love this place! Ive seen multiple shows here & have really enjoyed each. I have been really impressed with the comedy hosts; theyre really funny & definitely added to experience. The lobby bar & outdoor patio is perfect for before and after a show. There is a 2 item minimum, but the food is good & drink menu is varied. This place is well run, good bartenders, getting food out before the show starts, the waitstaff being on their game & available, but unobtrusive.
I would not recommend purchasing tickets from this venue from anywhere but at the door at showtime if you would like to see someone. I am still holding 3 tickets to a “postponed” Pauly Shore show (Original Show dates were 4/10 and 11, 2020… then moved to 10/23 and 24, 2020… then moved to 3/26 and 27, 2021… now Postponed.) that I cannot get a refund for because it is still listed as postponed rather than canceled . After reaching out to the venue about it I was told they’re still working on putting this show back together a year and a half later and that my tickets would still good for when they do. They can’t refund the ticket though because the event is postponed and not canceled. With the recent surges and the returning mandates, I fear there’s a good chance something will be “postponed” again at some point. Given my previous experience, this venue will not refund your ticket purchases for that since it’s canceled shows will be placed in postponed limbo and your money held hostage.I can certainly understand that there were some extenuating circumstances. That being said though, if you do not have at least a vague idea of a date for an event reschedule after it being postponed for a year, your event is no longer postponed it’s canceled. Refund your customers. Doing otherwise just seems like a really dishonest way of conducting business.
The venue is pretty cool. There is a 2 drink minimum; but, the drinks are absolutely horrible for what they charged. I ordered a margarita, the entire drink consist of sweet and sour.....with a splash of Tequila. Stick with wine....its something they cant mess up. I was disappointed at their wine selections as they didnt have Riesling. Food was ok, seating was a little tight.... Update...went back last month for a show. The seating was a little better as was the food. Drinks were still to be desired.
I went to see Pauly Shore and his 2 openers show names escape me. But were absolutely hilarious. Esp the middle guy. The place has security at the door who do pat downs and wands. . I had a table on the front of the stage. They had a 2 drink minimum which I wasnt aware of prior to the show. Beers are like 13$... mixed 15$ So look for that prior to arrival. The building is large and the room is very clean. the wait staff I had experience with was wonderful. Friendly and quick. It was a bit Interactive as I sat on front row so pauly spoke with us an included us in his show. A really wonderful experience. They gave us tickets to an upcoming show in June. Cant wait to visit again! Thanks for a great night #punchlinephilly.
Here tonight for the Bruce Bruce Comedy show. And so far so good. Thevdrink came at lightning speed and our server is on it!! They accommodated our request to be re-seated with family and it made our evening even more special!!! The music and ambience are great!! Expecting a great night with my forever Valentines!!! Darlene, my wife surprised me with tickets to this event thank you Boo!!!
My group accidentally got tickets for the wrong show time, the manager adjusted our tickets and let us in to see the show. We were very happy about this because there were 7 in our group and 4 of us are from out of state. The service inside the show was fast and you didnt have to try to flag a waitress down because they frequently checked on us. The food was great, customer service was great and the show was great!!
Bouncer lady is incredibly rude. We were the first people to get there and she already had an attitude when doing the bag check.
Overall good experience. Only two very minor complaints:1) The beers that my group ordered were all served in warm glasses and so after about 10 or 15 minutes they werent cold anymore.2) We had to wait at least 15 minutes to get our drinks even when it was early in the night and there werent many people in the building yet. But other than those two very minor issues, everything else was perfect. Great service, great atmosphere, and great entertainment. We will definitely be back soon!
Wait staff =10Comedians =10Building, bathrooms,Bar=10Havent had a bad experience yet!
Overcharged me for a drink. I dont recommend it.
Preferred seat tickets at an extra cost obviously mean nothing. Had a very disappointing experience at a recent show. Paid extra for a ticket expecting to get a good seat but unfortunately, was seated in the far back of the room, on the side of a stage with a limited view, in a corner and next to an employee backroom. Explained the preferred seat situation to the hostess, she never moved me.Did not have a good experience at the show because apart from the poor view, I just kept thinking about how I wasted money. Just buy the general admission tickets and save your money.
Went for the Drag Diva Brunch and had a BLAST! The stage and seating area was comfortable, it wasnt too loud, and even though the place was fully sold-out it didnt feel over-crowded. The performers definitely gave it their all, and the tickets included a free mimosa (or bloody Mary) and omelette (or other brunch meal), which was nice. Would definitely go back!
The official parking lot was sketchy but free. Im not sure if it normally is free or just free the day I was there. But the building was nice. The bathrooms clean. The staff friendly and quick. The food and drinks were good. I had a great time and will definitely go again.
Went to see Bruce Bruce. It was an excellent show. I laughed the entire time.
Since COVID alot of comedy places are no longer packing you in like sardines. Punchline has some nice line-ups. Even people Ive never heard of, jokes are pretty good. They have a 2 drink minimum policy which is strictly enforced and stated over and over. I was just there last Friday with one of my daughter and had a good time.We had a Titos with Cranberry juice, doubles, and 2 drink minimum and came to to $84 and we had 2 appetizers - cheese steak egg rolls and Humus and came to a total of $131, which also included a service charge. I must admit the drinks were very nice, the food was very tasty and the temperature was great.
Although the venue was okay, we were very disappointed with the experience. We waited until long after the show was supposed to start to be seated. The drinks were horrible and expensive. The food was microwaved and included in the price of our tickets were a meet-and-greet after the show. Complete BS. We got tired of waiting for the comedienne to come out so we could meet and greet him and get a picture. We ended up just leaving the place after waiting for almost an hour. What a rip off. And I especially paid extra to get the VIP treatment and it was all a scam to them. They squeezed us into a table with 4 other people. I mean this table was so small and it was so many people crowded around it that the man from the table next to us elbowed me in the eye by mistake. I will never go to another comedy show like this. What a bad experience because people are greedy.
Comics were good. They we very odd with the seating. There was no clear line to be in either... Also, No one must have purchased prefered because a huge part of the front row was empty. Why not just fill it up? So awkward for the comedians. They even pointed it out. Are these people showing up? *points to all the empty tables up front*The food was absolutely terrible and so were the portions. With the two drink minimum be prepared to spend $15 on a coors light! Our server was very nice but it took forever to get anything, food drinks etc. Bathrooms were dirty and stunk as well.
My wife and I love comedy clubs, and this was the first time we have ever left one feeling ripped off.The food is total garbage, the waitress never even came to our table a second time until last call.I had a long island iced tea that was half sour mix which shouldn’t even be in a long island iced tea. This is also one of the only clubs remaining that won’t count any menu item towards the two item minimum. There is a reason comedy clubs shouldn’t be owned by corporations.
Great atmosphere, great host and comedians! Shout out to lamer, Mike, Ian finance and the other dude whose name escapes me (sorry) but an amazing time and we got to meet everyone after. All very friendly and approachable
Comedy was okay but two drink minimum with drinks at 16-20 dollars a pop. You literally cannot order a beer that is a normal size, you have to get basically a 20oz or so…. What is this, a Phillies game? They automatically include 20% gratuity (fair, 20% tip is standard), but of course never mention it unless you look closely at the receipt (which has the normal tip line) to trick the drunkies into tipping twice. There are better local comedy shows where you can order a normal sized beer for 7-9 bucks.Maybe worth it if you can see someone specific you really care about seeing. Feels pretty expensive, and feels like they go about making it expensive in an annoying way (okay, I get a drink minimum for a comedy show, but then the drinks are overly large and 20 bucks — okay, I get adding gratuity sure, but why not make it pretty clear you’ve already added it).
I was there last night with a guest and the show was great but I never received my drink/food I ordered.Ive been to (2) shows previously and had great experiences with the show and service. The show before last night my service was so amazing I gave the waitress an amazing tip. She serviced me so well I brought my Aunt. So I was disappointed when I invited my Aunt out and her and I along with the couple was distracted the whole night because we were looking for out waitress. She took our orders. I never got the drink I ordered and God only knows what happened to my tacos that the kitchen was supposedly making that I never got. To top it off out check was wrong.
I enjoy the venue for different parties, its very cute and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I went to my first comedy show ever there 2 weeks ago. The comedy venue was large but I got sat behind a pole. So, I didnt get to fully enjoy the show. Theres a 2 item minimum which I think is corny and outdated... but anyway I ordered my 2 items. I got the drink but not the food that I was REALLY looking forward to. As I saw plenty of other peoples orders coming out, mine never came so I canceled my order. You cant set a policy in place and, then not have the man power or staff organization to full fill the need. I worked in banquet serving, it aint that difficult to remember your tables at the least. Ill go back for a FREE party but not a comedy show. But I wont be ordering much...
Hubby & I went here as a gift from our son 4 our anniversary. ( October 28th) My goodness we had a wonderful time. The staff was fantastic. The food was great (the wings, frozen Sangria, fries, & cheeseburger). And the comics were funny as hell, esp the former SEPTA driver & the host. I must say also that the ladies room was wonderfully clean. That deserves 5stars by itself🙌🙌💯💯
I had a great time nice atmosphere good food and drinks. The only thing I didnt like was the two drink minimum once your in the main stage area. Even if you spent 200 dollars in the waiting bar area they still want you to buy a minimum of two more drinks. Recommend getting there exactly before the show starts so you can buy your food and drinks in the main stage area.
Had a great time! Had good seats and the food was the bomb! This show was an all female comedian line up. My 2nd time and it wont be the last. They opened the mic at the end of the show for anyone to sign up and display their comedy talents. Great staff also.
The show was definitely 5 star but the service and atmosphere was 3 star at best.It makes no sense that in such a huge place, they force you to sit with other couples. I went in with two other girls and we were seated with an impatient older couple and another couple directly across from us on a first date who could not stop making out.Theres a two drink minimum so we figured we would try the cocktails. BIG mistake, just stick to the bottled beer. The server described the philly 45 as very spirit forward but only after the girl behind me sent hers back. It tasted like gin and lemon juice and nothing else. Definitely not worth $12. I tried the two other drinks at my table, suckered punch and the ad lib, and none of us could even finish what we ordered they were so bad. The server didnt even ask how we liked everything or if we needed anything else, we had to flag him down to put in our order both times. After intermission he didnt even bring our second food order, he just brought the check!Theres also only one menu per table which was odd so we had to awkwardly share with strangers. Food was so so but definitely not the worst part. French fries and chicken tenders were yummy.I would go back just to see the talent, but Ill definitely be ordering bottled water to meet my two drink minimum in the future.
We were there for a drag show brunch. The show was great but the food/service was not. Waffles came with syrup on them, not on the side like the server said, when it was asked to be on the side - luckily the person was ok with how much and the taste of the syrup. The biscuits and gravy was a really small portion and had almost no flavor. We asked for non-alcoholic drinks and a half-hour later had to ask for them again. The alcoholic drinks we did have must have been bottom bottom shelf because the liquor tasted bad and gave us a headache by the time we got home.
Loved Bill Bellamys showHowever, the server Jake was completely rude.He never bought out half our entrees and kept saying they were coming and walking off in the middle of us talkingI was only with a friend but we were seated with other people. Jake refused to split our checks saying we shouldve told him we were not all together when we sat down.I didnt know it was my job to do his job since Im pretty sure they seat people together all the time.I guess you can be rude as hell to the customers since its an automatic %18 gratuity 🤷🏾♀️Parking is horrible and vaxx card is required for entryI wont be rushing to get to punch line any time soon especially after the horrible service
Nice venue. Parking is challenging but not too bad. Food is okay. Hit or miss on some of the menu items. Be prepared for the two DRINK minimum (not items) per person. This is a nice middle of the week or start to the weekend date or night out with friends.
Went here to watch a stand-up comedy show with my friends. And did we have a blast? Apart from the show which BTW was nicely organised and on time. We ordered a couple of flat breads and a wine. And the flat breads were hands-down amazing!!!!! Would definitely go back just for the flat breads again though.Overall, had an amazing experience here!
I attended the Drag Brunch, and it was just amazing. All the queens brought their own style and elegance. Paula Dean-white had amazing music and dance routines, Lady geisha with her trendy style and dances, Anita Manhattan with her retro style and music, and Bev was just so hilarious! The best part of all was the way the queens made the audience feel, the joy and excitement was so evident among the entire crowd.
Great spot to see a comedy show, wasnt a bad view in the house from what I could see. We went with a large group and they were able to accommodate us right off to the side of the stage. Sound was clean. Show was reasonably priced. Solid selection of craft beer available.
It was ladies night out for me and my two friends you saw a bunch of Lady Comedians and they were pretty good the first two were just so so but the last three were on point. Im giving three stars because of the food quality theyre going to serve food they should serve food. Its cooked well and taste good and is of good quality for the price that they are charging. You dont get a pass to overcharge for frozen food oh, you dont get a pass for serving substandard food for the price you really need to up your game on that. And its pretty rude of our waitress constantly interrupting us for a check during the last stand up comedian I missed the majority of her jokes because of that
Im being generous with my stars because Ian Bagg was an absolute riot. The seating is all good as its not a huge venue and the stage is well placed. The first round of drinks took longer than it should have but after that glitch the service was excellent. We tried the pretzel appetizer, delicious but not a big portion, and the hummus, excellent except for the presentation on plastic, plastic plastic. They didnt enforce the two drink minimum or overcharge for anything. Its a decent place. I would definitely go back.
Great experience will be back again. Bruce Bruce was hilarious
Had alot of fun, went to see Cory Holcomb on 8/7/21. Drinks were very tasty; over priced but thats the game. The food we ordered was cheese steak egg rolls and they were good, the only thing we didnt like was they had a 2 drink minimum.
