This is a long delayed review—- huge shout out to Patrick, the best bartender of all time! Managing a massive crowd at a Sunday pool party, he made my drink quickly and with a friendly smile and a little chat. Made me feel so welcome during my first P town weekend!
This is THE place to stay in Provincetown! The King Balcony room overlooks the pool and the beach and is a great place to hang out to watch the pool parties. The room pictures are from when we stayed last year in 216. This year we had 217 which seemed a little smaller and had a tiny tv. The deck in the front of the hotel is nice to sit out on and people watch. Provincetown does not do plastic bottled water but the tap water is good at the hotel.Steven and Craig are awesome and super friendly and helpful!! Thanks guys!! ❤️ I hope to see you again soon!
Drinks outside here are great. We saw a drag show for $35 each by Tina Burner and it was awful though - worst drag I’ve seen
Always a wonderful place that hosts fantastic parties. I have yet to stay with them due to the high room rates but will soon enough.
Words cannot describe how wonderful a place this is! Jonathan and Paolo have been such great owners of the crown and anchor and it shows not only in their establishment but also in their staff. I always feel welcomed by the staff at the crown and anchor each time I visit. Never had any issues and always enjoyed my time seeing the piano bar and ticketed shows. And the food is very delicious!Keep up the great work Jonathan and Paolo! Myself as well as the Ptown community are so very grateful for you both.
I came for a Dina Martina show. She was excellent. I had a great time. The theater itself was very basic. The bartender was nice. The bar was also very basic. Seats were slightly uncomfortable. I would return for the right show.
We just stayed at the C&A for eight nights to experience Carnival Week 2023. Third time staying here for Carnival. AMAZING experience. The new ownership just gets it. They’ve done a lot of upgrades and improvements. The new guest lounge area with the balcony overlooking Commercial is a great addition. Anything we needed, the staff was very accommodating. The new restaurant menu is VERY good. Really fun parties at night and a great pool during the day. Will definitely be back! Thank you C&A for the BEST Carnival Week yet! ❤️❤️
Cannot describe how amazing their pool parties are. We enjoyed events at this location back to back 2 days. Nice place to hang with friend and enjoy their nice cocktails with reasonable pricing. Their night time shows are also amazing. We attended a show with our nephew and he loved it. People work there are very friendly, helpful and sassy lol. Overall convenient location, good pool and good bay view with great cocktails.
Update to my review!July 2024 - All of our local Ptown peeps said it was under new management and for this reason, and the fact that they have so many different entertainment options, we decided to give it another try and they were fantastic! We passed through several times for the piano bar, club and outside bar and were met with great service and overall such a great time! The outside bar now serves at least 8 frozen drinks eg Froze, Espresso Martinis, etc. The drinks were strong and we had so much fun. Kudos to the new management, they have really turned it around. Thanks!July 2022 - When every restaurant we popped into had not one seating available but the C&A was wide open, that was just a red flag we ignored. The staff here was stunningly rude, not because they were busy or overwhelmed but because they appeared to just be angry humans. We chatted with other hotel guests, who also come to Ptown yearly, and they have had the same experience from the host, waitstaff and owner. As fellow and former restaurant workers, we know how to treat staff and how to be treated as customers. The rudeness and ignorance levels here were nothing short of stunning. The food was ok, but be prepared because our experience didnt seem to be isolated.
One of my favorite places in town. The place speaks for itself, you just have to check it out to see for yourself. They have nightclubs, a restaurant, many bars, and a hotel. I enjoy the nightclub quite a bit. What a wonderful place for free expression and a fun time. Especially fun during 4th of July or carnival week :)
Sunday Drag brunch.Talent was 10/10But it is set up so they perform 1 song each per hour. So you arrive and sit Down and order your drinks and food. The 4 queens do 1 song each and you drink and eat and the whole thing is done in 30 minutes. Ummmmm I’ve never spent such little money at a drag brunch. Because I only had 1 drink and only got to tip each queen for one song each. Normally you are at a drag brunch 70-90 minutes have 3-4 drinks and tip the queens each $20+. There poor queens are sitting off stage for 55 minutes an hour doing nothing. Does that make sense? Let them perform. Let us get drunk and give them the tips they deserve. Love me.
As a DJ and guest, the new management and ownership is exactly what the Crown needs! The staff always went above and beyond to make sure my needs were met and it was done graciously. Im looking forward to the momentum that is being built and the continuation of a Provincetown staple. Highly recommend booking a stay the next time you come for a visit!
Had a banquet dinner here, the owner and staff are amazing - funny, friendly, and efficient! The space (both inside and out) is large and very accommodating, highly recommended for work events, family gatherings, and special event planning. The lasagna dinner and eggplant dinner were delicious, but their portion sizes were both on the smaller side for the cost. Tiramisu was for dessert, and the flavors were spot on, but the texture was flat and soupy. The portion sizes and dessert quality were the reason for reduced stars, and aside from these minor issues I look forward to my next visit here when Im back in town again.
I went to the bar. Very nice swimming pool was in use for a belly splash competition. The winner got a serious black eye with hard contact with the water. The management should find a safer way to entertain the patrons.
Very disappointing changes during Memorial Day Weekend. Piano Bar was usually a wonderful experience over the past two years. Was Busy as Bobby W. was starting his 60th year! (Wow) The new manager was scrambling trying to turn tables over from dinner to piano bar time. Being very disrespectful to people coming in the front door to sit. Wouldn’t allow people to stand by the door either. The guests who came in that knew him personally were able to get a table with no issues.Hopefully this will not be the new norm for shows at the Dive Bar during the summer months coming up. Certainly will give it another chance as this really is the best place for entertainment on Commercial Street.
On my first trip to P-Town I could not have asked for a better place to stay! The staff there were so sweet and accommodating. I showed up early off the ferry and they already had my room read, the staff member Craig went above and beyond in everything! Gave me great advice on places to go and things to see and checked in occasionally to see how I was doing and if I was having fun! Great time! The room was clean and well stocked and the ocean view was so amazing! I could have spent my whole trip in there and not complained. It is in the heart of Commercial St for those looking for a place close to everything! I will be returning!
This place has made really impactful upgrades in the last year. New menu is delightful the Carrot Hummus is to die for! Exceptional service from every staff member we interacted with. While we were there there was a show about to start. If you want to be in a place with vibrant energy, this is the place to go!
This is such a fantastic place to stay while in Provincetown. The new owners have been refurbishing it and making it into not only beautiful but extremely welcoming place for everyone. Fantastic restaurant and several awesome bars to choose from along with the pool. Location could not be better. Its right in the absolute center of everything and right on the beach. Couldnt recommend this high enough.
This was our favorite location to grab a drink. Keith greeted us at the entrance and he was friendly and informative. Scott made us fantastic drinks at the bar and gave us guidance on places to see. The atmosphere was welcoming and the staff was friendly. We highly recommend that people stop by.
Delicious food. The calamari and the Mac and cheese were fantastic. The two hosts were so sweet and accommodating. They were very helpful and friendly at seating us indoors when we didn’t have a reservation. They made our visit feel like we were at home. I highly recommend this restaurant for the attentive service and high quality food.
I went to the Crown & Anchor with a group of ten ladies for my BFFs bachelorette party. We decided to come here for dinner and then a drag show, so we made reservations. When we checked in, whoever the shorter/ older man was who greeted and sat us said “someone from your party called and canceled your reservation”. This was simply not true. Then he sat us inside (practically empty) and said look we got you a table anyway! Not sure why they never even wrote down our reservation but the rest of our experience was superb. Definitely recommend this restaurant for food and show! But I question their ability to take a reservation.
C and A used to be second rate..better bars better music better food elsewhere..the restaurant..with Reina Stefani as chef..w -s..is now the best in town..floors ..not steps above what it was. Even tho a seatown..dont pass on the Peruvian chicken..the scallops taste like they were deep fried in clarified butter..sooo rich..again..if tired of seafood..the hanger steak..re experience of what red meat should be.. appetizers..carrot hummus..with the pita made in house..dont pass it up..desserts..the goat cheese cheesecake..you wont stop at one...Ive been coming to ptown 20 years..the best dining experience..in all those years.
First Ill say before we even got any food our server Mikey and the manager Keith were the nicest people weve ever encountered at a restaurant anywhere. The wings app we got was phenomenal and our main courses of lobster mac and mussels linguine were perfection. Mikey recommended drinks and they were perfect. The best experience Ive ever had in P-Town and Ive been coming here for 13 years!
This place is over rated from outside looking. Given the fact that it was located in the busy Commercial St, we didnt have equally good service. The young stuff here wasnt really into helping the customers. He accepted our order with least verbal communication. It seemed like he didnt want us to eat here. And no one said or served anything for 25 mins until we asked. And food was just fine. Boss and senior staffs here are relatively helpful and generous. Overall service is not good, food is fine.
We dined on the patio and did not stay overnight. The food was fresh, well prepared and tasty. Our server Anwar L was prompt, professional, courteous and friendly. We would definitely eat there again. Recommend the Ceasar Salad and the Fish and Chips.
New owners do NOT understand hospitality. Been coming here for 30+ years. But we are avoiding it now. And the “host” at the restaurant is SO rude. He should go work at Walmart.
We (myself, wife and 1 year old) a great lunch here during our trip to Ptown. Fantastic, fresh lobster garden salad hit the spot and great drinks too. The team was super friendly and accommodating to our family - the bartender even brought over a plate of fresh fruit and whipped cream when he saw me struggling with my impatient, hungry son. So nice!
Me and my boyfriend had a great experience at this restaurant. We love the food and the service was great plus. We will definitely come back here and recommend this to all our friends. The guy who took great care of us his name was Eli. Love him , great personality.
I love this place. Everyone here are friendly and joyful. On top of that the food here was excellent! I really enjoyed all the tacos they had there. The ambiance is great. Great atmosphere for a very nice sit down fine dine type place. Everyone here was great! I have not one bad thing to say about this place. I will always look forward coming here for dinner when I’m in town.
For a nightlife venue, the Crown and Anchor is mediocre at best.$6 waters, weak pours, uninspiring clubbing, and absolutely insufficient bathrooms. If youre look to have fun in Ptown, go to the Boatslip (esp between 4 to 7pm for tea), the Red Room, or A-House. But dont go to the Crown and Anchor.
The infamous Monday night Showgirls performance lives up to its reputation! The entertainment was fun, and the bar staff were sweet and attentive. The only downside was the drunk straight girl in front of us who talked through the entire show, made out with her boyfriend, spilled her drink, and pushed her chair back into my lap. #keepptownqueer
Beautifully appointed rooms. Best location right in the center of town. Entire staff was friendly and attentive. Craig is amazing. He went over and above to ensure everything was perfect. Will return often.
Cosmos were on point. Staff was very friendly and informative. Dinner was scrumptious (the clam chowder was nice) scallops cooked to perfection. Although I couldnt discern the pumpkin in the risotto, it was still good. Recommend.
Our waiter was amazing and the food was excellent... however the host made dining here incredibly unpleasant. My mother and I split an appetizer and each ordered an entree (which we didn’t even finish). The waiter made loud comments across the restaurant shouting “wow you girls can really eat” and laughing, pointing, staring saying “are you girls getting dessert too?!?” Which we weren’t. I think an appetizer to share and an entree each is an incredibly reasonable amount of food. The comments were incredibly rude and made us so uncomfortable.
Great hotel. Very clean, professional staff. Centrally located on commercial street. Three night clubs Within feet of the hotel. Great food in the restaurant. Excellent Value for the price. Continental breakfast provided, ocean view from our sweet. Housekeeping was very friendly and efficient as well. Fireplace refrigerator coffee maker microwave sink provided in the sweet. 2 showers 1 full bath.
Visited my sister LaKia Mondale this weekend and attended the Divas by the Sea Drag Brunch. Excellent performances. On Saturday night saw the Illusions show, this was no exception. All opening and closing production numbers never seen, the show was also compromised of new numbers and costumes! I highly recommend, a must see.
Fun little spot with a variety of talent on display. The staff can be hard to flag down for drinks and they are eager for you to leave directly after the show. A little more hospitality would be appreciated. The acts are solid, though.
I will start off with the restaurant itself. It is a nice place. Now the server was very good and attentive. We ordered clam chowder and shrimp cocktail to start. Clamchowder was not any good. Leave it alone. No need to try and improve it. Shrimp cocktail was just ok. Shrimp was awesome cocktail sauce again leave it alone. Dont try and make it something else.
I loved the service here. The food was delicious, our server didnt mind that we took our time and he was great about checking in to make sure we were doing ok. We came early so large groups werent really an issue, but I could see this spot getting packed quickly.
We really just wanted drinks. When we walked up around 10pm the hostess said they had just seated several large parties and it would be at least 20 minutes before they could do any more food (craziness considering the size of the place, but was fine with us since we wanted drinks anyway). No one seemed to share this message with our waiter who got a little irritated that they had seated two tables on the food section that wanted drinks only. The drinks were average and unfortunately so was he.
The location is ideal, and the rooms are comfortable, though some have an obstructed view. The deck out back is right on the beach but there are only about half a dozen rooms facing the bay, and overlooking the deck and pool. The pool is generally free, even for people who arent hotel guests, as they make their money at the poolside bar. Have one of their drink specials and it comes in a small beach bucket with a loop handle and the Crown and Anchor logo printed on it. Its a generous portion and typically delicious and very potent, so if youre planning to drive or bike after pool time, perhaps avoid the drink special, and have a water instead. The place also has a restaurant, piano bar, and a small theater where there are some great drag queens performing. Comedians like Miss Richfield are pros and will have you falling over laughing. The restaurant isnt cheap, but its good and has a nice view of commercial street, and heres a tip: if youre seeing a show there and you eat at their restaurant, tell your waiter. Not only will they get you to the show on time, they will actually escort you to the best seats in the house just before they open the doors to the other ticket holders. Nice.
Love The Crown & Anchor! I attended an event hosted there two nights in a row and the space was great. The event space is versatile and fit a huge crowd. Bar staff was friendly and attentive. Drinks were a bit over priced, but that’s to be expected at a tourist spot!
Very disappointed with how I was treated. I’m a nursing mother that was out for my best friends bachelorette party. I have to pump every so many hours and was pumping in their bathroom. The show was supposed to go from 6-8 and it ended at 6:50. I took a quick break to pump in the bathroom and a girl employee came in to force me out. We told her we were pumping and had 2 more minutes and apologized and she made the comment that it wasn’t her problem and walked out. Very rude and wouldn’t go back because of how I was treated.
Great food in a safe outdoor patio environment. We always love the Crown and appreciate all that they have done to make dining safer during COVID. As usual, friendly and efficient staff that didnt rush us to turn the table made for an enjoyable evening.
I would of given a no star but this will do. The waiters or hosts (all of them) gave us attitude when we sat our self without know that we had to wait to be seated. They could of been more professional about it. We decided not to stay because we felt unwelcome. It was our first time there and it will be our last. You just dont treat people like that, And the worst part is that we are staying at the crown and anchor.
Friendly service & great drinks but the food is just ok, should be better considering the location & prices. The scallop cerviche was very good, large size portion to share between 2 people & very flavorful. The fish & chips, a New England staple, was mediocre at best. The fish was cooked well & tasted good but the breading was bland, yellow in color & very soggy. Like I said though, the service was very friendly & speedy. The server took the time to chat with me & seemed genuine. The speed of service was on point & the drinks were good. I enjoyed the atmosphere but in the future I probably wont eat there.
The staff is professional and energetic. The positive experience started as soon as we checked in for dinner. After dinner we stayed for the show. Highly recommend any show at Crown and Anchor, especially the Illusions show. This was a terrific dinner and a show experience. I highly recommend!
Excellent food and service. See you March 1st!
Went here three times while in ptown. The first was happy hour and the staff was amazing. The second time was for dinner and staff was great, food was good but really over priced. The third was again for happy hour and there was a new bartender but he was very rude and dismissive. Wouldnt split the bill payment for us because it was not possible even though they had some it the two times before.
Went to a show in the paramount room. The show sounded good. Hard to see, poor seating for the quantity of people and uncomfortable. Also they need to work on ventilation...only a couple ceiling fans and a packed house.
Stayed at the hotel, was not impressed with the new mgmt. Our reservation was cancelled earlier this mo, due to renovations they were making, so we ended up rebooking, but we asked about rebate & nothing. When we checked out, no bill under door that am or at desk at checkout, & few days later no emailed receipt, etc. Food was just ok. Drinks were expensive.
We went to the Dina Martina show, it was really bad for the money we spend. Go to other Cabernet shows. Food was average, drinks where ok, nothing special. Definitely way better places out there to have a drinks and hang out in PTown. Save yourselves!!!!
Service is horrible. Both the server and the manager have no clue what is on the menu. I dont think the excuse I just came back from vacation yesterday is a good answer for a manager. You need to know your menu!! If you want bad service for top dollar this is your place. Its a shame the chef is a great! The front end of the house has a lot of things to work out. Not what they claim to be as of yet. They need to get there game on fast. First week of summer. This should have been done weeks ago. Best of luck hope you are able to correct your problems.
Couldnt have asked for anything more! Staff were all super friendly and accommodating. Room was spacious, very clean. Was warned when I called to make reservation about the noise level from the clubs, but found it to be so very minimal. Absolutely great experience, highly recommend!
Nice place. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Right in the center of town on a one way street and there is no parking lot or structure. I parked in the municipal lot which was free off season and not too far away. Realize this hotel is directly above a restaurant/bar/nightclub, so do not expect quiet until the bars close. No fridge in the room.
On New Years Day I had a terrible experience at this Bar and I must say it is my first experience with reverse discrimination. My girlfriend and I walked into the bar at around 9 Pm and ordered a Gin and Tonic and a Dirty Titos Martini. The Bartender, who was by no means quick to his post told us that we would have to have our drinks in plastic cups. I thought maybe all the dishes from New Years we being washed....but not so. 5 minutes after we were served a handsome pair of men, who I assume were together, ordered two expresso martinis which were promptly served in sparkling glasses? I thought it to be bad form but did not say anything, however my girlfriend politely queried the bartender, who mostly we could not even find with a geiger counter, he responded rudely and aggressively and lied about the reason. I still tipped him but will never be back. Its a great place but expect to be ignored and abused if you are straight!
Rockstar! The host was outstanding when we arrived and hour before our reservation time. He seated us a side hightop and pulled over an extra chair. We were starving and thirsty. Both drinks and apps came right away. The oysters were perfect and Ashs app was delish. The staff was cool. Thanks for making our night a great one!!
Terrible people. Terrible venue. I really wish I never stepped foot in this place, the smell alone should have kept me outside. Management was rude, bartenders called me cheap for only tipping $5 on $25. What an unusual experience. Very unattractive people, bad music. Overall a bad experience both nights. Lots of great places in ptown, this isn’t one of them.
Armand and Keith are amazing. The minute we walked in, we felt not only welcomed, but loved. They took care of us from the first day even though we weren’t staying at the crown and anchor. We typically don’t eat here, however, they have totally changed our perception of the crown and anchor. These two are absolute gems. We both feel like we have known them forever and would consider them family. Thank you so much for such a great experience. We will absolutely be back as long as these two are here !!!!!
This bar has an excellent location looking out onto the beach with a beach side pool and seating area. The bar had a relaxed environment - even the bar tender was wearing only speedos! Prices were reasonable and there was a private function whilst I visited (a beach wedding) but I wasnt made to feel like I was imposing or that my business wasnt welcome.
Went here with a group of friends to grab some dinner. Terrible experience. Food is incredibly overpriced and lacks any flavor. The lobster mac and cheese was gigantic and had very few pieces of lobster and was completely missing on the cheese. The beef bolognese again lacked flavor and the pasta was not cooked enough. All of the food was just overall completely disappointing for the cost. Save your money and go somewhere else thats decent.
The crown and anchor used to be a great place to meet up with friends in ptown and was always busy now since it has been sold its gone down hill. The new owners are not very consistent and seem to not be knowledgeable about what week they are catering too. People in provincetown are accustomed to coming on their particular week because of the different functions going on and now crown lacks the participation and it shows. Sad used to be packed and a ptown staple.
This resort complex has something to offer everyone. Multiple, bars, shows, and welcoming staff and performers make this a truly fun and comfortable spot. Dont miss Bobby Wetherbees sing along cabaret. Its an amazing experience.
We went to Illusions and it was fabulous! Nonstop laughs. Definitely a must-see! The drinks during the show were a little overpriced and the server understandably had a tough time getting back to us with all the dancing in the aisles.
Thank you so much to Wave Bar. We recently hosted our PTown Soccer Classic over Columbus Day weekend and this is where we go after our Wigs and Heels Party at Tea. We appreciate everything you do to make us feel welcome from how you decorate the bar for us, to our sign out front. The bar staff was super friendly, the atmosphere was fantastic.
Unfortunately, I have had HORRIBLE experience at the Crown and Anchor Illusions Drag Show on Saturday May 13. I was here with a group of young women in a bachelorette party, and unreasonably treated terribly by their employee with the purple hair (unfortunately did not get her name). We were originally told, while purchasing tickets, that the establishment welcomed bridal parties. Mind you, we are all in our late 20s and early 30s, and were NOT belligerent. While waiting to give her (woman with purple hair) our tickets (which, as a group, we spent over $400 on), she proceeded to tell me (the bride), that this show is not about me and dont even think about making it about you. This was completely uncalled for and I was extremely taken aback by this comment, especially because I did NOTHING to warrant this. NOTHING.Woman with purple hair then proceeded to YELL AT another woman in our group who was not immediately able to find her ticket. Then, purple hair woman told our group that we would not be served drinks all night. She was right, we were not served.I also witnessed purple hair woman placing her hand in front of a camera of a woman (who was not in our group). This behavior is disgusting, unacceptable, and while the performers were wonderful, funny, and talented, our night was ruined by the woman with the purple hair.Do not go here with a group of young women, you will not be treated well.
Our waiter Scot was mean and did not care about taking care of us. We had to request waters twice and he never asked if we wanted another drink. The food was good, but left feeling offended and down.
We had an early dinner and then when to a murder mystery show in their Cabaret. Both were good. My husbands had oysters on half shell.... said they were very good. Our dinners were good. Show was enjoyable.
Saw the very fun drag show Illusions with the family. First drag show Ive ever seen, but I laughed and enjoyed it thoroughly. I left in a much better mood than when I entered.Drinks service was very quick. The performers were hysterical. One thing to note: the 7 PM show was supposed to be family friendly, but a couple f-bombs were dropped in the course of the show. We survived and it was an educable moment for the kids regarding salty language. ;-)Having said that caveat, I suspect well be back for another show on future visits to Provincetown.
My daughter and I had lunch here today and it was perfect. Food was delicious. Loved the fries. Everyone was attentive from water being refilled to being shown to the bathroom.
Attended a dance night, had plenty of space and inside and outside dance floors. Enjoyed being able to go outside with fewer crowds. Music didnt have as much of a beat as I would have liked. Good drinks.
I was very impressed with the menu choices and the service. I had the pan seared cod and my guest had the chicken and sausage fajitas. Both plates were delicious. I look forward to returning. Highly recommend.
New favorite restaurant in ptown! Prime rib burger had amazing flavor! Plate of mussles was almost 2 much 2 finish! Great atmosphere and awesome staff! Will be back again!
We had dinner and the food and service was great. The property is really great with lots to do. We sat outside and it was nice. I accidentally left a bag there and they had found it and saved it for me the next day. The manager I spoke with was very nice.
Centrally located on commercial st. Nice restaurants and entertainment venue. BUT they did not disclose that the pool/ocean view room would be in the middle of a late night dance party. It is also not disclosed on their website. Manager was not willing to call me to discuss. I will never stay there again.
I changed my review because of how nice and accommodating the staff here are. Crown and Anchor is likely the most centrally located property on commercial street and walking distance to everything. I appreciate that they had live entertainment on the pool deck as well.
It may have been just because it was busy and we were only there for drinks, but, it could have been so much more enjoyable. The wait staff was okay but not incredibly attentive other friendly. The host was incredibly friendly.
Please be advised that this is a review that I had written a little over a year who. The owner, RICK, asked that I rescind it due to he wanting to make it right. As of this date, nothing.Went to the bar following dinner last night with two friends. Less than five minutes later we were kicked out. Apparently the staff is so well aware of those who walk with a limp due to a temporary disability (wearing an air cast from recovering from a broken leg 10 weeks ago) that I was presumed to be too drunk to serve and was told youre done for the night. Genius. I was drinking Coke with my dinner at Front Street for the two hours previous. My friends are locals who have been nothing but weekly faithful patrons who consistently tipped the staff 50-60%. Never going back. And neither is their money.
Either we visited on an exceptional day or the food is really that good. Best fish and chips ive ever had by far. caprese salad had the freshest tomatoes ive had in a super long time.
Great location and the staff was very helpful. Rooms were pretty large and clean. The rug was a little wet when we got there. The only real negative was the hallways were extremely warm as the a/c was on.
My husband and I met here on Independence Day in 2001. Its been a magical place for us ever since. So its gotta be 5 stars. And if youre looking for a place to dance on the Cape, this is tops. For the Cape
While I did not stay at the C&A, I did attend showtunes night. I had a great time. The property was one of the nicer ones I have seen so far in Provincetown. Richard, the bartender, was fantastic and delivered excellent service.
Came in to escape the rain, found myself at the bar for early lunch. Comfortable elegance, attentive service. Best clam chowder in Ptown. Best hand crafted Bloody Mary Ive had in ages!
We had a Great time last night at Piano bar with Bobby. What a wonderful night. Just love Crown and Anchor.Aug. 13 saw John Lloyd Young which was a Wonderful show.We will continue to attend Crown and AnchorShows and restaurant.Vivian DeMarco
Drink were insanely priced! I guess its 15.00 for a shot of their cheapest. Better live music elsewhere.
It was a quiet night, but strolling down the empty streets of Provincetown, I was greeted by a warm light coming from The Crown & Anchor. We proceeded to enter for dinner and was served by lovely staff who were concerned we would be cold (because of the wind outside) and gave us a toasty table under the heater. The steak and the beer buttered rings were simply scrumptious. Just nice for two.
Walked by here and asked the bouncer what time it was open til since Google said it should have already been closed. The man clearly wasn’t listening to our question so I asked it different ways. When he understood, he said “that’s a stupid question.” When I asked why, he said “because everything in town closes at 1pm.” I told him that I’m not from here and that the online listing said it was closed. He said “that’s for dinner service.” Needless to say, we did not take our group of 6 to have drinks there and won’t ever.
If youre looking for an all around atmosphere, tranquility, pristine customer service, amazing dining and outdoor bar then this is the spot in Provincetown, MA!I never miss a chance to stop in anytime I work out here.
We had a wonderful meal here. Wait staff was very attentive. While have were having a drink we realized we had been there 30 years ago so it was a happy surprise.
We got married at the Crown & Anchor in October 2016, and we and our 130 guests had a great experience. Cathy Nagorski was our main point of contact, and she was always 100% responsive, professional, and accommodating throughout the nearly yearlong process leading up to the event. The Crown did a great job of working within our means and providing a lot of bang for the buck. We had the ceremony on the beach behind the establishment, which transitioned seamlessly into a cocktail hour on the pool deck, a buffet dinner in the Paramount, and ended with dancing with the Crown’s DJ Chris Racine. Guests wanting a quieter experience could socialize on the pool deck with soft lighting and area heaters. Chef Michele Ragussis did an AMAZING job with the food, delivering exactly the satisfying meal with local character we were looking for. One advantage of having our wedding at the Crown was the one-stop shopping. Being such a large and multi-purpose establishment, they have almost everything you would need on-hand, including lodging, sound systems, lighting, heaters, a tent for the deck, table linens and chair covers, in-house catering, and the list goes on. They went above and beyond and even let us use the stage and equipment for some live performances during the reception. I was initially a little unsure about having our reception in a space I knew only as a nightclub, but the place transformed into a completely fitting venue for a wedding. Cathy coordinated everything with precision and grace, and we will forever be grateful for the role she and other staff played in what turned out to be a fabulous and unforgettable event.
Had dinner there tonite. Worst dinner I have had all summer in Ptown. Ordered Rib Eye steak medium rare. It was medium well. And tough as can be. Ordered a Diet Coke. They brought me an ice tea. My friend ordered a gin and tonic. That’s not what he got. She replaced it and apologized. He suggested they comp the drink. She said yes and then charged him.It will be a long time before I go back if ever.
Central House has bad overpriced food. Have eaten there twice this summer. Will not again. VERY salty meats. Seafood ruined with fruit salad toppings. Arrogant TV celebrity executive chef chats up friends at other tables but refuses to meet with dissatisfied customer when requested by waiter for us.
This place had arguably the best linguini & clams three years ago. Clams fresh from the daily catch, now they offer linguini and frozen “shirmp” [sic]. It’s sad to come back and not see it on the menu.
I visited the Crown & Anchor for a show. Everyone had a blast and the performers were talented, enthusiastic, and charismatic. The servers were highly competent and efficient. Overall, it was a great experience.
This review is for the Crown & Anchor restaurant. We were very disappointed regarding their rib eye steak (ordered med., served medium rare, full of fat-not good marbled fat-supermarket sale steak fat) Their pork chop was also poor quality. Both dishes were to salty. We are comparing the food to restaurants in P-town that serve similar food at similar prices (Devons, Mews, etc) This place does not compare. Yuck!!!!!!!!!!Crown has a decent pool and decent shows. Weve enjoyed both.
I had a group of 10 people for a bachelorette party which is a very big group to coordinate dinner for. We purchased tickets for the Illusions show and were told that if we ate at Crown and Anchor we would get preferred seating. We were so excited for our night out. When we arrived 2 hours before the show at Crown and Anchor we were told that they had no tables open and that we really should have made a reservation. I totally understand this as I have been in the restaurant business for about 10 years. While we stood outside making other plans the maitre d told us he could seat us separately because we had such a big group. We sat at two tables, side by side, but not together, with the same waiter..... I guess pushing the tables together was out of the question even though other groups had theirs pushed together. We waited over 5 minutes for the menus to be brought over. Another (about) 10 minutes and we had to ask if we could order drinks. In a huff our waiter took our order for drinks. When asked how one of the dinners was prepared the waiter told us to just order something else instead of explaining the dish. When asked if we could get a side of bbq sauce or honey mustard, or anything other than ketchup we were told just no. Looking over at another table later they had dijon mustard.. The meals took over 45 minutes to come out (I understand with a large group things take more time). The burgers we ordered came out almost raw and unable to eat, our steaks were under seasoned, and the pasta was barely cooked and too hard to eat. No one came over to offer more drinks. We tried to show our excitement and thanked our waiter for getting us in even though we did not have a reservation. No response. Our bill came to $267 and although a tip for GOOD service was hardly deserved he still did WAIT on us and the RESTAURANT did get us in so we tipped him $30. We left and proceeded into the line for Illusions when the waiter came running up behind us and asked if we had left enough money. He counted out the the $267 and then the extra $30 and said so, youre only tipping me $30?. I was so appalled when my friend told me he had chased us down!! Take it for what it is and chalk it up to a bad night. Look at yourself and ask did I do everything I should have to make these tables feel comfortable and happy? Maybe he was having an off night, I dont know. The only reason Im writing a review is because the restaurant should learn from this. They have a wonderful gig and should thrive off of the location alone. Work on the people skills and get the act together in the kitchen and youll be golden! We look forward to visiting P-town again and perhaps eating at Crown and Anchor.
This is an all around great place. Great location in the center of town, food is always quality. The greetings from Armand and Keith are unsurpassed anywhere in Provincetown. Sadly, it’s the time of year when they’re no longer open seven days a week. This however does bring some wonderful specials on Thursday and Friday nights, and as is often the way of things some things are gone. If you have had the Panna Cotta at Crown & Anchor you know it was consistently WONDERFUL. Unfortunately someone has decided it’s a “summer dessert” so it’s gone till next year 😢. That is the only reason it’s not 5 stars.
If you are in town looking for a semi-laid back but also “sit down” lunch, go here and have the burger. It’s great! Also, great 🌟 service even with the shortage of staff! Super friendly, super kind. Thanks guys!
Dont come here if you are Gluten sensitive! Our first night on the town we decided to eat here for dinner, bad idea. Someone in our party has Celiac disease and we told our waiter, Chris, then proceeded to ask him questions if their Clam chowder was gluten free, he hesitated then nodded his head definitely that it was gluten free, we then asked him if the fries were okay or if they were fried in the same oils as other things, again with such convincing he reassured us that the fries were okay for her to eat. The clam chowder came out with bread on the side of the little plate, WARNING 1. the wonderful waiter MIKE who brought out the clam chowder than told us it was not gluten free and he would talk to the chef about the different options she could eat. The fries came out and that waiter wasnt sure if the fries really were safe for her to eat then since the chowder wasnt and brought them back to ask the chef. Mike again came out, told us the fries she definitely could not eat and gave her her options. -_- unfortunately there are two Chriss and the one that wasnt our waiter wouldnt give us the first letter in his last name, so I would just stay away from both of them...or stay away all together for dining. If that wasnt bad enough, to another person at our table he stood behind her, looking the other way, and kind of creeped his arm around her and grabbed her plate, still looking away he walked away with it...she wasnt done! everyone else clearing our table asked us very audibly if we were done before clearing. I did speak with a manager Pete a few days later, who pointed out the waiter and apologized, asked me if I wanted to speak with him again, I had already said what I wanted to say to Chris that night, so no need. Peter asked me to return, food was on him which was a nice gesture and why I gave this rating a second star, but this wasnt what I wanted, I had wanted at least an apology that night from the owner who was on duty, for my friends, no one ever did, so it was probably kept from them. I used to be a waiter, if there was ever a problem, the manager would be beside the customer a second later. Then our water said that he had taken off her items from the bill, which we thought was great, but he had only taken off the gluten items she had not eaten, well obviously! That one waiter made the whole restaurant seem incompetent.
Sit outside at the bar, order the elote and brussel sprouts with chicken, drink the day away. Youll be well taken care of.
We always go and stay at the same place . Is centric and rooms are clean .staff is very helpful
We had lunch at the Crown & Anchor. Our dog was with us but they had an outdoor area labeled doggie dining. The food and service were awesome. They even brought our dog a bowl and pitcher of ice water.
Horrible rude employees. The two men at they host stand were critiquing passersbys loudly as they walked by yelling Who raised you?? while laughing to themselves on August 22nd. We were horrified and couldnt leave quick enough.
Central House at the Crown: sit on the porch facing the street and plaza for great people-watching. Despite the busyness and late hour, our waiter was attentive, friendly, and helpful – we took his suggestion for the market fish, and it was delicious and cooked perfectly; the pan-roasted scallops were sweet and tender. We started with the Wellfleet oysters and I finished with the cheese plate: all superb. The wine list is brief but interesting.#15bday
Since Celebrity Chef Michelle Ragussis has taken the helm at this centrally-located restaurant, the food has blown patrons away! She has taken Traditional American food and kicked it up about 5 notches.Simple dishes, beautifully prepared and well-seasoned. The crab dip is so delicious, it is hard to stop eating it. The onion rings are light, crispy and sweet. The steak was perfectly prepared and the fish, which was hake the night we ate there, was exceptionally light with a tomato beurre blanc. We find the servers to be engaging and funny and very knowledgeable about the food. The bar makes some really excellent cocktails. For a great night out, check out the Central House. If you like food and good cocktails, you wont be disappointed.
Delicious Oysters and lobster roll. This is definitely on the high end with prices. Outdoor seating available. Covid compliant. Nice staff. Wld love to go back!
Attended the drag show Sat Sept 17 2016 (Illusions) absolutely pitiful. You would think that of places P-Town would put on good one. The three performers combined delivered about a total of 10 minutes of material worthy of applause. The blonde MC had a wig on that was probably last washed and brushed years ago. For $29.00 a ticket I expected more and got less-bottle of 2 buck chuck ridiculously priced and performers begging for money from the audience was constant-NEVER AGAIN
I have been dining here for the past 11 years. The food is consistently good. The staff is friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is Ptown chic... try it youll love it!
The service is absolutely horrible. My girlfriend and I were walking around to seat down and enjoy a decent meal but unfortunately, choosing this place was the worst mistake. The waiter took about about 40 minutes to comeback to our table so we could place our order. The quality of the food was absolutely poor and overly price.
The guy working yesterday who checked me in literally was the nicest person Ive ever met in my entire life. I had such a great stay. Thank you!
Shows at the Crown and Anchor are always entertaining. The drinks are good and reasonably priced. The seats are a bit small but the staff are very friendly. This is a great place to catch a show.
Great meal at the restaurant. Wait staff did an excellent job managing the situation with masks in a professional and courteous manner — and the burger, Mac and cheese and pasta with clams were delicious
The Crown and Anchor, in the heart of Provincetown, offers a little bit of everything. Cabaret, burlesque, drag, piano bar- you can find it all here, and then some. Drinks seem a bit weak- hence a missing star. Service is terrific and friendly. We always like coming here for a show and the making of a memory.
Great service and nice atmosphere, but underwhelming food. Lobster mac and cheese had a nice portion of lobster but wasn’t particularly flavourful. Cod sandwich was similarly kind of bland.
Our host was amazing. We were able to find the table without reservations and we had An amazing time.Taco with the dip loved it!!
We are both extremely unhappy. Me and my boyfriend didnt even get told it was singles ladies night when arriving near the door. The boncer mislead us by saying you guys dont wanna join the party and took our money knowing we wouldnt have a good time and screwed us over. We didnt even stay for 5 minutes. She was very rude. You guys make enough money to give someone there refund back which she refused to do. You honesty think its right to rob people from money they need for their vacation and its not right. Also nobody got checked at the door so your really notnot securing peoples safety. Never going back again nor will we recommend anyone going.
My group and I had dinner at C&A. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and attentive, and the environment was comfortable. The prices are high but you get what you pay for here. The food was worth every penny. You wont be disappointed.
Love the outdoor area with the view of the beach. Dont love the crowd it tends to attract. Bartenders are friendly and attentive but it can get very busy very quickly.
I cant speak for each night of the week, but on the two nights I was there, they had this energetic piano player who did the playing and singing intermingled with stories. He played a variety of standard songs and many classics. Everything was highly amplified causing me to need ear plugs. It almost sounded like the same cords with different lyics.
Had fish and chips, good size filet, nice place. We showed up a few minutes before lunch closure and they still served us, nice staff, willing to help with suggestions.
Great food, great atmosphere, wonderfully staff and best truffle fries!!!
Sad show from Diva Martina, save yourself. Ptown have way better places. The place is good for drinks, but the Diva Martina show is really bad.
FUN, FUN, FUN. Hung out at the pool during the day. Incredible view of cape cod bay, boats, wharf, etc. Staff was fun and friendly. Ate at The Central House Restaurant and had a delicious meal. Would highly recommend the food here.
Service was amazing, as well as the Spicy Chicken Wings, and Shrimp Cocktail. The lobster bisque in my opinion was not the best. Overall good place, good service, but I do not recommend the lobster bisque I
I have been dying to try this place since see Chef Michele Ragussis featured on the food network. We went in the afternoon the place was half full. I asked for seating for 10 adults and 2 children. While Im standing with my 7 year old the man states rather loud the last thing I want to do is serve 10 people and 2 f*ING kids I immediately removed my 7year from such vulgarity and rudeness. However, other members of my family were so appalled they approached the server to ask if he said that to which he replied sit down if you want lunch. NEVER EVER GO ANYWHERE NEAR THIS PLACE. AT LEAST $400 TO ANOTHER ESTABLISHMENT
Ordered macaroni and cheese dinner with bacon. Dried out. Wife ordered chicken dinner and the chicken wasn’t cooked completely. Complained and received $10 off our $90 bill
This is a rating for the bar. We wanted to come to see the drag show but the tickets were sold out already when we got there, so we just went to the bar instead. There wasnt much action at 10pm, since the party was probably upstairs.
Drag Brunch very entertainingFood fine but not remarkable but the performers are fin.Take plenty of singles.
Excellent choices of meals on the menu (of course, I chose fish!) Impeccable table service. Immaculate restaurant and restroom. Definitely coming back!
Ehh...Drinks pricey. Beware unannounced add-ons. Place ok. Nothing special. A crowd of regulars. Just another bar.
Bartender was dismissive and filled with contempt, suggesting I just drink apple cider vinegar. LOL, WHAT!?! He was more engrossed with trying to show off his admittedly impressive physique than to make his handful of mid-day customers feel welcome.
The owner of this establishment has a horrible reputation with guest and local town people, his name is Rick, hes rude, talks nasty to people and is known to bust into your room with security intimidating some guest while others get with him. Ive always found it odd that people who own a business wouldnt want to have the best customer service in town- instead of a bully attitude, I suggest you spend your money in another establishment until this man can learn what it means to be humble. As much as I enjoyed in the past going to his piano bar, I now walk right pass it. My husband would never allow us to throw income to a Pokerface.
The bartender needs a lot of help! Poor service, slow and he doesnt know how to make cocktails, our drinks were awful, we asked him to fix them and he charged for it.. in top of that he demanded his tip!
I have to say that the bar staff are rude. First comment - youll have to tell your friends to come this end of the bar as we dont do table service - my response - theyll have to come here anyway as its my round. Then - youll all have to take tapkins as my boss will get mad - OK. After paying the bill and im halfway down the bar the other barman shouts what! no tip! - a tip for being spoke to in that manner! and erm... I ordered at the bar so what service!
Waterfront rooms are obstructed by a concrete pool and a chain link fence. Rooms are poorly maintained and very dated. Great location, but not remotely worth the price.
The place to have a good time in provincetown hotel upstair, indoors or outdoor dinning, 6bars to chose from me. Wave bar. 2 showrooms the paramount and the cabaret. Really nice and friendly staff.👍
Peter was absolutely fabulous! He was quick and attentive. The food was delicious. No complaints. Every time I come here I am not disappointed!
The regular rooms have no microwave no fridge outdated Lennon and your desk only open till 9 p.m. great Prime area to be and if you dont mind
Such a fabulously friendly place. Tried lobster for the first time, dont think itll ever taste as good as that. Thanks Keith for showing us round. Great place
The food was just OK and the pricing too high for this time of year. However three stars because our waiter did a wonderful job and I was happy to tip him accordingly
The bar was great! Loved the atmosphere and bartenders were very friendly. We enjoyed it here and would go back again!
Saw a drag slow fundraiser that was fantastic! Very friendly staff, fun lighting and music, excellent performers. Had a great time!
During this time of covid 19, owner of Crown and Anchor has made exceptional preparations for social distancing while still offering fantastic dinners and entertainment. Today was a show featuring Varla Jean Merman with her Summer 2020 show of Superspreader a fantastic show with extreme humor very entertaining! Lots of laughter. Preformed in the open air pool area with plenty of space between other guest. We felt safe and enjoyed ourselves eminsly.
The staff at the Crown are the best! We stayed there many years ago and it was so nice to return. They do everything right. Dinner and the best entertainment all in one complex!
Nice venue with a nice outdoor space. Has a little of everything but because the venue is very big, if it is not packed, the place feels a bit empty and you keep thinking another venue has a better party.
We felt very welcomed right from the beginning. The maitre d was fantastic! The food was beautifully presented and was excellent.
Lots of entertainment at the crown and anchor. We visited the new outside bar. Our friends went to the wave bar. Later we saw Bobby Weatherbee at the piano. A ptown iconic place
Love this place. The staff are super friendly and helpful and the food is great. No parties this year but still a great restaurant to visit!
Absolutely FANTASTIC! Highly recommend. Food was fantastic. Service was fantastic. Management was fantastic. You must stop it and give it a try. You will not be disappointed!
Open during off season, restaurant, dance club, bar and hotel. Food was delicious on italian night, gorgeous dining room overlooking commercial street. Reasonably priced given Provincetown and the upscale vibe.
Great music. Two dance floors with different vibe. Bartenders are great. Highly reco de for party goets
Had a great stay. Renovations coming along and looking great. Staff was amazing, friendly, helpful and great guides to fun.
I was feeding my 2 year old ice cream in front of this restaurant on Commercial Street today when a rude man approached my family and told us that he was trying to run a restaurant and we had to consume our ice cream elsewhere. We were sitting on a planter about 20 feet from the steps of his establishment and in no way hindering his ability to do business. We were bullied and we will NEVER eat at this establishment ever in a million years. He was a JERK who was very unfriendly to families.
Friends and I went to see Dina Martina at the cabaret. When we didnt order alcohol, but just sodas and water, the waiter rolled his eyes, made some snippy remark and stormed off. We finally got our order after everyone else had been served in the room.
Went for dinner/ piano bar and had great food and fun.
Crappy service. Took over an hour to get a lukewarm overcooked 1/2 inch thick steak that cost just shy of $40. What was the point other than to separate me from a couple of twenty dollar bills?
Attended a wedding rehearsal dinner there. Of season, so a bit quieter, which was great. Had a private function room, got the job done.
The wait staff and manager were so incredibly attentive and nice, even though they were super busy! Truly excellent service, and much appreciated!
If you love being right in the middle of everything Ptown. This is the place. Has a club and restaurant. A bit pricey on season but worth it. Ive stayed there Alot over the years. Needs better parking though.
A good place to stay in fairly well priced my only complaint was they dont put coffee out until 8:30 in the morning in the lobby there are no coffee pots in individual rooms
10/30/21: We were going to go to the bar there, we saw a sign saying $25 cover charge which is absurdly high. Made no hesitation to turn around and go somewhere else.
Fantastic entertainment complex. Wonderful food, terrific atmosphere and a caberet second to none. Definitely a must visit when doing an evening in province Town.
My mother who is 78 yrs old had to go desperately to the bathroom we ask to use the bathroom politely and right there the were very rude, n said public bathrooms are are down the street, an my wife said were gonna have coffee, an they said ok, so after i called my husband to meet us for coffee which he was feeling ill at the time was entering this place. the hostess said no bags in this restaurant, i said can i leave it with you, an the server said just go ahead, so as we were having coffee without asking (TO RUSH US OUT), they gave us the bill, so my husbands sugar was low, so he took a piece of candy to have, an the waiter come over in a charge, an TOOK THE BAG FROM THE FLOOR AN replied, I told you no food in here, COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS EXPERIENCE SO MY WIFE CALLED THE POLICE , WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE EVER, I DONT KNOW HOW I CONTROLLED MY SELF BECAUSE IT WAS UNEXPECTED
Tea Dance in the summer is a favorite event and its always a great time. Maria at the bar inside the dance area is the best bartender around!
Crown and Anchor was very fun. The drinks were stiff, and the show was very funny. My friends and I really enjoyed our time at Crown and Anchor.
Love this dining experience...Amazing food and staff .Paramount and wave bar sooo much Fun everytime I go. Never a bad experience. :)
Stayed at the Inn during the week of the 4th of July, great room overlooking the harbor, perfect location, and awesome/friendly staff. I highly recommend staying here!
Food was good, but the service was extremely slow. We ordered shrimp cocktail and two bowls of chowder and were there for well over an hour.
Owner disrespected me and my friends in so many ways. Threw us out for clearly no other reason than him being RACISt and bored. A trash environment run by a trash human. Disappointed.
Wonderful bars and restaurant. They treat it like an interview for a return trip. Youre welcomed in and treated well to great food and drinks.
Awesome atmosphere. It changes throughout the day so you can go back after lunch to have a different night experience. Piano bar.
The air conditioning unit broke the other day and they said they were doing the best they could but at a show for a couple hundred people it really was a mess.
Got two Malibu buckets at the temporary (?) Outdoor bar during the carnival parade. Decently priced and not too weak, Id definitely suggest getting these to anyone during the festivities!
Went to see The Illusions here, they were great. The room was nice an cool and the staff was very nice. It was very very loud !🤣
One of my favorite hotels Ive ever stayed at!
Great location. Great Space for dancing, waterfront view. A+++++++++ would do business with again If it were on Ebay in the 90s.
Food is so mediocre. They need a new menu. Drinks are blah. Just not worth the money at all.
