Spent the money to Uber for Karoke Sundays. Event was supposed to start at 10pm. Showed up at 12am. Both doors were locked. I assume they closed early due to lack of costumers. Its sad if a 24/7 city I cant go have a drink on a Sunday morning 🤣🤣 some of us work the weekend 😫
Visiting from out of state and was ignored at the bar by staff for half an hour. Finally gave up and left without purchasing any beverages. Staff ignore you if they dont know you or youre dressed differently. Did not feel welcome at all.
Bartenders make it bad specifically Micheal. He sucks
I come here from time to time usually i get to take a young guy home with me so its a good place to get a fling for the evening, plus for a trans girl like me :)))) I dont really drink so i get coffee.
Ive been in town for a week. Everytime I have gone in the female bartenders at night have been nothing but rude. Not only to me, but to other patrons. At first I thought that they must be having a bad day. From talking to other patrons they are always like that. Sad. It has so much potential. Regardless, I will not be coming back and I do not recommend anyone wasting their money at this particular establishment.
Have visited several times, including evenings on Friday and Saturday. Just a handful of very unfriendly cliquey people. Cant imagine how this place manages to stay in business. People working there didnt impress me as being very welcoming. Seemed to be more interested in carrying on conversations with the tiny group of patrons. Seems to be a theme in Reno bars. Employees with zero charm and NO social skills.
I was there twice. First time Bear was bar-tending and she was friendly with a smile. Went back again and was told she no longer works there. OK. I then Met Michael who accommodated my drinks and was very friendly. I like the place but it if far for me to go. Worth it for a night out. Expensive by cab for me. I like the atmosphere and met some cool people and would like to meet more.
Staff is not straight friendly. The customers were nice.
Michael the evening bartender was from the Patio bar. Patio closed, and Michael came to work at Carls.I would say if you hire bartenders from establishments that become defunct financially. Youll only encounter the same tragedy. Yup, Michael chased off about half of Carls saloon original clientele.Michaels cliqueiness pays no other attention, but his gossipy circle. So much so, that the establishment almost burned down.If you want to meet fun and welcoming people, Carls saloon is not the place to be. Unless you want to meet old wrinkly queens with a chip on their shoulder. Michael included!
The day bartender was great. This is a laid back and local bar and has good pricing. Pool price was below national average. A great place to just relax and unwind from a long day. Or just meet new friends.
Went in for a drink and was rudely told by the bartender that he decided to close early, roughly 90 minutes before the posted business hours. I don’t understand how a place can operate like this and stay in business. Never going here again.
Worse place in town! I have been in Reno for about 2yrs and have been going to Carls once in awhile. The new owner is very unprofessional and has a bad attitude. I will be going to gay friendly bars where guest are treated like paying customers.
I moved to Reno from Ct in 1999 & Carls was the very 1st gay bar I went to when I moved there & carls was a 10 min walk from my apartment so I was there a lot & I lived at Sundance west apts on Clover way & from The minute I walked in there everybody was so friendly and welcoming. It became my weekend hang out & on Sundays I would do beer bash. I left Reno in 2007 to move back home to Ct & Carls was the last place I stopped to say goodbye & I had become part of the Carls family & they were sad to see me go. There may not always be the biggest crowd there but they treat you like youre a VIP all the time. I miss Carls & the people I became close to.
I go in for one reason; everybody knows my name. It is the Cheers of Reno. Everyone, gay, straight, etc. is friendly, never had a negative experience there and the drinks are very reasonably priced.
Old school Levi and leather bar. Friendly bar team, chill people. The drink prices are good.
Check all hate at door and this place will be your second home; Walk in looking to make friends and youll be welcomed openly. Drinks are on point with prices to match and theres a firepit for awesome summer night drinking
Not sure what all the negative reviewers are complaining about, but this place is super friendly and the service is great. First time here. Will certainly come back
I went to carls a while back. went by there this past weekend and there were no cars around it look like it was closed. does anyone know if its still open? I like the place, I dont know any other place to go. also is there any 24hr bars thats open during the week .
Best Sunday funday In Reno! The KJ and the bartenders Jess rock Sundays!
The fat guy was awful.
Went to check it out, all doors locked even though every door says open... Not very inviting.
Tom is so friendly and welcoming. Come visit these guys and support their business.
Good people. Good drinks. Good jukebox.
The best gay bar in Reno!
Fun place to meet people.
It is back. Carls Saloon
Great place
My favorite place
