Went on a Thursday specifically for line dancing. Best in the area for that purpose, but could be better. DJ didnt have most songs I requested (umm, just download them?) and told me he wouldnt play anything not country. There was a live band, which is strange to have on a line dancing night. No cover. Great service. Free partner and line dance lessons, though the line dance teacher seemed like she was having a bad day. Option to grill your own steak.
I just recently re-discovered this placeIt was a lot of fun and worth the driveThey have options to grill your own steaks on a huge wood fire grill, there is a small potato bar and you can grill your own Texas toast2 nights a week, they have 2 for 1 specials! It was a fun experience! There is also live music after dinner
Had reservations for my mother’s birthday there . It was my first time at this place so was hoping for a great experience but unfortunately one of the worst ever in my life. Arrived on time for our reservation and had to wait an hour sitting at reserved table to even get a waitress to acknowledge us. Then when she finally brought menus waitress handed the menus to one of our guests who was WHITE by the way all our party was all Hispanic . One of our guests cancelled his order due to the poor service which upset waitress. She took away my sisters salad while she was eating it . At that point I was so upset and wanted to leave but stayed hoping this place would get better. Also the bathroom doors don’t lock and you have no cell phone service when inside . We asked for password for WiFi and told they can’t give it out. And when we were taking pics we were told we couldn’t take pictures in that area . We were racially profiled the moment we walked in. Bad hospitality happens sometimes, but plain ugliness comes from the root of that restaurant.
Great Food and very friendly Staff. Definitely recommend cooking your own Steak. If you dont want to cook for yourself, there are other options on the menu. During High School Football Season, Friday Night is not the night to go unless you are the type that dont like crowds. Plenty of Pool Tables. 🎱
I havent been here in over 25 yrs. A few changes since then. Did not eat or drink alcohol just a coke and dancing. Great place to go.
Everything was great. Our waitress was wonderful, I cant remember her name but she was new, shes a keeper. The food was great and the salads were awesome. Well be back
I love this place...or maybe the idea of it,but the service sucks!I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fried mushrooms-IF they get to the table while hot. No one ever smiles, like ever. Customer service is not a priority. They say they support the military, say the pledge of allegiance, and show you the door if you dont like it- but dont give a military discount. 🤷♀️
Great place for dancing and entertainment…..it’s not a steakhouse.Regardless if you cook your own or let them cook it for you. Meat was tough and no flavor. The venue featured solid previous and upcoming artist, super talented. We also enjoyed the house band, great mix of songs.Around 7-8 is when most people seem to show up, and wait staff are stretched out, be patient, they’re doing their best.
Came to see headliner, Big Joe Walker, & surprisingly we had thee best time!!! We also enjoyed the first band, Southern Ride. The lead singer came over to our table and chopped it up with us for a bit. Our server, Becca, was phenomenal & we experienced great customer service from start to finish! We are not always sure how we are going to be treated, but we truly had a blast! The food was bomb!!!!!!!! We reserved our table even though this event had more than enough room to social distance! We were even able to move closer to the dance floor/stage once Joe hit the stage. Great night! 🤠👢💃🏽🎶••• Side Salads • Chicken Strips • Lemon Pepper Wings (very good - perfect size - a tad bit too salty) • Fried Shrooms • Bottlecaps • Onion Rings 😋😋😋 •••
DO NOT GO HERE! Got charged three separate times! One of which was not even our tab! Something didn’t seem right even while closing the tabs out. My wife had a tab at the bar in which we thought like most places everything was getting charged to that tab. Surprised to find out we had two open tabs was confusing. I asked the waitress why? And she told me this huge complicated system they have? Stating that depending on where you are in the bar it opens a new tab. So if I order a drink from the same waitress in a different section it opens a new tab! This is extremely inconvenient for customers and confusing. Also leads to instances for someone to be over charged. ALL the drinks outside of beer were obviously watered down. Even straight from the bottles. I will never go here again. Also extremely cult like. If you don’t fit into there ideals they threaten to kick you out or make you feel unwelcome. I see now why this place is just a shadow of what it once was and I see why the younger crowds steer clear from this place. Which from a bar business side makes no since let’s be honest the younger 21 year old crowds are the cash cows of the industry.
Friday night 2 for 1 steak night is worth getting there early. Great country music, great service and good food. Stay for the band opening and stand for the pledge of allegiance.
Its an amazingly friendly music, food, and dancing venue!! Loved it here. The food was truly amazing, and the staff were friendly and professional. Prices are very good, two steaks, drinks, etc, and our bill was a BARGAIN. The house band is GREAT! They truly rival any famous traveling country band I know of..seriously. They nailed it, upbeat, fun, and, as said, so talented. They opened with the pledge of allegiance and brought real tears to my eyes, and I am a former deputy and the son of first-generation parents, and my father retired WWII and the Korean War vet.
Service was amazing. I wish I knew her name. Burger was like a hockey puck but the bottle caps were so good. Ryder Grimes put in a fantastic show!
I’ve been coming here for a while here and there and it seems like they don’t care. Every time I come it’s hot, even when there’s hardly anyone there. The pool sticks are crooked af, the plastic pool rack has been taped together in 3 different places or you get a table without a rack. Tonight when I spoke to an employee there he said it’s been super dead for a while, well I wonder why. Shame on you SoJo for not making any improvements and still taking everyone’s money. No thank you , I’ll take my business elsewhere
Southern Junction is a steakhouse and country dance bar. You can cook you own steak on a huge charcoal grill or, for $2 more, have their chef cook it. We had the Ribeye steaks. Our steaks were hit and miss. One of ours was good, a couple were okay but one was too tough to eat. The baked potatoes were perfect and the appetizers were delicious. Service was good and the atmosphere was fun! If you’re looking for a good place to go country dancing this is a good choice.
Had a salad, the croutons were stale.Never got my water refilled from 6-10:00.Both of the restroom floors were soaking wet with??? I waited until 8:00 and they still hadn’t dried. That wetness makes for a very sticky dance floor. So disappointed!!On the positive side, the new chairs were nice and the playlist from Rob Dixon was great but he played Texas Time twice. ???
I love coming here the dance class teachers are awesome and the concerts! I just wish they would fix the air conditioning and update the bathrooms!
This is a honky tonk! You can dance, play pool, eat a steak if you get there early, or you can get a dang good burger from the snack bar.A great place to see live music 🎶
Omg today is my son’s birthday I was so stressed out because I really didn’t have any moneyand OMG I spent a little bit of money and I left out $600 worth of fireworks Look at God i’m on the way home crying because my son smile is so big I would never thought how the way the world is going today that I will be blessed like this
Bought my 17 year old daughter tickets to see Drake Milligan for her birthday. They wouldnt let us in because shes not 18. Shes 17, with her parents, thats an insane policy. Stick with Billy Bobs
First time and really enjoyed the visit. 241 steak dinner was a good deal. Server was excellent and so very nice. Enjoyed the band and played a little pool.
We were really excited and looking forward to a night of dancing and food on New Years eve. The food served at this place was awesome! And the first band that came out sounded pretty good and the volume levels were just fine since we were sitting on the edge of the dance floor straight across the stage. After the headliner came out, however, it sounded as if someone had cranked the volume up and the sound was no longer enjoyable but rather distorted and became painful to our ears. We ended up leaving at about 11:00 came home and celebrated New Years with some neighbors.
Went there last night and it sucked. Ordered a NY Strip and they brought out some square monstrosity that was tough and full of gristle, not to mention being way under done. Several other folks in our party of 12 ordered NY Strip and got the same thing I did. Spoke with waitress and she insisted those steaks were NY Strips. Next she sent out the Manager(?) And she told me they were NY Strips....I showed her a picture on their own website of a real NY Strip and she tried to cover up by saying what I got was what their supplier sent them. I explained to her that Ive cooked literally thousands of NY Strips and she couldnt get around the fact that what they were selling was false. Waitress was nearly impossible to get service from and when she delivered drinks, they were terrible. The lady at the front door was very surly and unfriendly. The club was run down. The house band, while having some good players, was amateurish. All in all I will never go back and I doubt if anyone else in our party will either. Added a photo of what they called a NY Strip.
Always a fun time at Southern Junction. Never seems crazy crowded but enough people to make it fun during the week or weekend. We enjoy the house band.
When I walked in, there was a young girl behind the counter on her phone. Instead of her getting off ger phone to greet me, I greeted her to get her to acknowledge me. I stood there for a bit waiting for her to get off her phone, she never looked up to talk to me. RUDE, UNPLEASANT, & UNACCEPTABLE!
This is a great place to listen to a country band and relax with your friends. The music is always great and the service is above average.I tried their steak special and the meat quality could be improved. Overall, I recommend Southern Junction for a good time.
Great atmosphere- lots of different areas to interest all types of crowds. Pool, food, music, dancing and drinks at the same venue. Can typically seat large groups without reservations.Outdoor smoking area is rundown and could use some TLC. Staff is friendly and quick. Really miss the Friday night balloon drops on ladies night!
Nice staff great bartender during my visit. I tried to order an old fashioned he said he couldnt do it but he gave me somthing close.A for effort.
Celebrating a Valentine Birthday or any other special day?!...Southern Junction is the perfect place!...This Royce City location steakhouse/restaurant/dancehall offers everything from live Country Music, dancing on a large dance floor, dance lessons, a select dinner menu, appetizers, bar drinks, friendly staff, great service, and a family atmosphere! If you want to experience a special Texas evening for your event, make it Southern Junction in Royce City, Tx!...Youll be glad you did...!
I had a good time with my family for my 21st . Our waitress was amazing however the man who plays the music is more than rude. You greet him and he legitimately says “what do you want” just unprofessional and rude.
Steaks were fabulous and 2-4-1 on Wednesday. I ordered the chicken K Bob while the boys ordered the steaks. It was better than any steakhouse I have been too the waitress was great. The atmosphere was like none other around. Dancing, country music, and the amazing food made this place a winner. We will be back.
Staff is always friendly, food is always delicious! I loved coming here for years, Kaitlin the bartender is a character she will have you rolling in laughter. We love her.
Love this club. Been going for 40 years. Only thing I dont like is I cant take my teens during concerts
We love coming here for a night out! The dance lessons are fun but the live bands are a blast! Drinks are reasonably priced. After the band goes off they stick with country music which I love! Some places play pop after the country band but not sojo! Such a fun place to go
We went there on Thursday night the steak was actually very good especially for an all-you-can-eat scenario me and the wife will have to come back sometime and do some dance lessons as well love this place its a s Country steak and dance spot
Great venue for dancing, but the ownership is even better. I recently went to a dance workshop at The Southern Junction. My friend forgot her dance shoes inside on Sunday. Obviously, they were closed Monday morning. I called the number, a woman answered and told me no one would be there until 4 pm. We were heading back to Houston at 11 am, she got my number and said she would call if they were found. At 4 p.m she called and confirmed she had the shoes, and would take them to the post office to send them to us. I was gonna pay to have them shipped to me, All I got was a text with a picture showing they were sent at her expense. She went out of her way to help get us the shoes back. Not many people these days go above and beyond, but I felt like she absolutely did. Thank you for running a business much better than average. We will visit again when in the Dallas area.
This is a great place for a date night. You can go early and have steak dinner, theres even an option to cook your own steaks which can be fun. There is a nice sized dance floor, the house band, the Keith Mitchell Band, is good and they play current country hits mixed with 90s country-Great lineup of shows and bands-Smoke free-Clean restrooms-dance lessons one night a weekOverall fun venue to watch some live country music and dance
The old lady at the front was so rude and racist, she did not treat me as equal because Im Mexican and they tricked us into getting two more steaks because of their miscommunication, and the manager didnt want to do anything about it even though we brought 30 customers to her place and she didnt even accept our coupon. TERRIBLE PLACE!!!!
I used to go to this place about 25 years ago before I moved away. It was really good to see that nothing had changed.... (they still havent bothered to pave the parking lot, either) . A really good beer-hall country dance experience. Nice sized dance floor surrounded by long tables for sitting family-style. Cover charge was surprisingly high but the band on our visit was truly excellent. They were country-concert worthy and played solid two-stepping music. The place smelled deliciously of barbecue chicken wings. This is not the big packed-out, busy as hell, overly loud club like Red River but rather a more authentic country bar that I would prefer to take a date to.
I had been to Southern Junction several times many years ago. Returning now to meet up with friends, I found the food was fine, the waitress could have been a little more attentive, and the band was just okay. I likely wont be back as having to pay nearly $50 for two people to get in the door and then the cost of dinner on top of the cover charge on a Saturday evening sort of soured my mood, especially seeing as the band was just okay. Only stayed because we were there to meet up with friends.
Nice little honky tonk steakhouse. This was my first time and I had the all-you-can eat sirloin special. The server was immediately frustrated and short-tempered. She only came back to our table once the entire two hours we were there and initially took 45 minutes before taking our order. The restaurant was not busy and she was nowhere to be found, so Im not sure what she was doing when not serving us. They had dancing lessons and a live band, which was entertaining to watch. The first sirloin was overcooked, chewy and tasted like a hamburger patty. The second sirloin was cooked perfect and juicy. I will return in the future and hopefully have a better server.
Paid a cover to see the house band, whos sets were from 8 to 8:45 & 9:15 to 10. Was told to leave at 8:30 because we didnt pay cover for the headliner. Who didnt take the stage till 10:30. Had a party of nine and ate dineer. For that I paid with tip just short of $500.00 A real class act thus place is... sarcasm.
Biggest problem was the price. food was decent for a casual honkey-tonk. service was okay, again to be expected for a casual country vibe. Atmosphere was great. But cost way too much for what it was.We had to pay 25 per-person cover just to get in. So me and the wife are already at 50 bucks spent before any food or drinks. Food prices seem fair, drinks were typical bar prices but seemed weak or watered down.Apparently the cover was higher because of a concert but the performance seemed no better or maybe even worse than the house band. Id have rather paid no cover and just saw the house band. They need to let the cover go towards the food bill, do one cover charge per table instead of per person, or just make the cover way less. It makes the price of spending an evening here just kinda absurd for whats supposed to be a down home style honkey-tonk.At the end of the day it shouldnt cost almost 200 bucks for one night at a country bar with some average live music. Its just not that kind of venue and should not be priced that way.
Its a bar, dance hall, live music venue with fantastic burgers, hand cut fries, or any other food served & cold beverages adult & non- adult - biker friendly.Great place to hang out & even shoot some pool.
Was there for a concert - nice, fun atmosphere - well lit areas - bathrooms very clean - yummy fries!
For a Friday night, it seemed like there wasnt enough help. It took a bit to get service. The steaks were too salty but great cuts. The side salad was a bit small and plain. Over all Id say its a really good place to go play pool, eat dinner and listen to music.
Kaitlin is the best bar tender around! Food is fantastic and the drinks are always fantastic and well made! Will definitely be back!
The food was delicious and the music. The adult drinks are another story. The waitress told us what the price would be one price no maybe they are. We were never told different and the serve had many chances to tell us before we order additional drinks they were another price. The ticket came and we were shockedNever never would we have spent what they were changing for a simple vodka cranberry drink. I know why they cost. Think this is how they make up for lack of business or lack of tips is over charging knowing they can’t comp the drinks or discount them. I watch my tickets and this was definitely over changing for drinks. The manager came out after we ask for her due to the server said I’m sorry The manager was a total well just say she doesn’t know Customer service and it’s sad she set the worse example for the server. Watch your tickets close there. The food was great!Customer service is horrible with the manger.
I love Sojo, love the food, love the people but....... why on earth do they not put a little money back into it. In the ladies restroom 1 out of 5 toilets were working. Burned out lights everywhere. The light over one of the pool tables not working, several lights over the bar not working. Light bulbs are not that expensive, why would yall not do the simple things like that? Its crazy to me. Do better Sojo, fix at least the small things! A concert tomorrow night and only 1 toilet working, its gonna be bad. All that being said. Ill be back lol.
We came here for a team gathering and I didn’t know what to expect. Right when I walked in the doors it felt very friendly and welcoming. Everyone was dressed up in cowboy outfits or maybe that’s just the norm but I thought that was very nice to see. It def felt like I was at a real southern country bar. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We had a somewhat big group and she was very patient with us while she waited for everyone to give their orders. This is a place you can cook your own steak or they cook it for you for just $2 more. It’s way more fun to do it yourself. I got to really put my skills to the test. I’m not a great cook but my steak still turned out very pleasing. The dance floor had folks dancing and it was entertaining to watch. It inspired me to want to learn how to country dance. Overall I’m def bringing friends here again. We came on a Wednesday and it was half filled. Oh and they also had live band at 8pm!
Lots of music, dancing, and amazing food. Wait Staff is amazing and always on point. If you want a date night this is the place. Kids are welcome there up until 10pm. Amazing dinner specials. You can have the chef cook your steaks or you can cook your own. Large open grill with all of your cooking needs. Fun night out
It was so nice the place was so cool.we cooked our own steaks and got a ribeye,a salad, and a baked potato with all the fixings. The place is a Honky Tonk and restaurant.
Its always a great time. The only problem was that while we were at the table, it took the waitress 45-75 minutes to come back with the drink order. We started ordering 2, then going to the bar. By the time we were done with the one from the bar, she would bring the others and we would start the process over. She never made it back with our drink order in under 45 minutes.
We went last night for a friends get together. Our waitress was awesome, tho overwhelmed, the drinks were great and from what I understand the steak dinners were good. However I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. I was the last to be given my meal (again no fault of our waitress). When I finally got my sandwich it was nothing but 3 chicken tenders and my fries (to which I ordered them very well done) are soft and soggy. We had a great time and the atmosphere was awesome. My food literally sucked. I will still go again but Ill play it safe with the steak dinners.
Terrible service, they overcharged us and were very rude upon entering. The lady at the front hassled us for having minors when we came early and had a big reservation and they said they allowed it, but the old lady was rude and threatening about it. Not family friendly. Also the manager is awful and did not want to fix our receipt that they messed up. Don’t go here!!
A great little country bar. Shorty was on top of handling anything we needed at the bar, and the music was great. 4 stars because me, my wife, and son went in on a Friday night and even though he is 17 they wanted him to leave at 9 pm even though he was with us and was our DD. I get not having kids in there after a certain time but come on.
Just for dinner (anniversary) for 1 person. $6 to get in door. Xtra $2.00 for them to cook my steak. $7.50 for 1 mixed drink which was flavored water. Yes no alcohol in it. Total cost $40.Well wow.
The best place to hear country music to dance and have dinner
Was not impressed at all. The best part of my meal was the fried jalapeños and baked potato even though it was very small. The star should have been my ribeye, but it was very thin and tough. Needless to say I will not eat there again but I may go for the entertainment.
Didnt eat there. Only one bartender and the line to get drinks was HORRIBLE. Stood in line for nearly 45 minutes just to get drinks! TWICE! After that, it just wasnt worth it. Then they came around picking up empties, and they took my drink while we were dancing. Other than the drink situation we had a good time.
This is such a fun place!! The service is outstanding and the atmosphere is SO fun! No pressure to be all fancy or dance if you dont want to dance. Just a laid back cool place to hang out.
Entertainment was good but not the food. The chicken breast was so dry it was NOT EDIBLE. An order of wings consisted of 5 of the tiniest wings you have ever seen. Not worth the price.
Great food and service. You can cook your own steaks on the Grill.Great Concerts...
The bartender will get an attitude if you want to have a tab, they want tips for each drink they make. Extremely rude bar staff will ignore you for 15 minutes while your just trying to close your tab. Rude old man more interested in flirting with the younger crowd then servicing customers or getting a good tip.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Went Saturday night to celebrate a friends wedding. Dancing, live music, fat, juicy steaks and all the fixings. We had drinks and had a blast. It is also family friendly, several kids on the dance floor enjoying the music. Bouncers spread out throughout to keep things smooth. It was my first time but Ill be back.
Hands down the best steak (ribeye) Ive had since moving to Texas almost 2 years ago. Yes, Im comparing my experience to those black tie, valet parking steak houses in various parts of the metroplex. There are many.Friendly staff. Nice, open atmosphere. Really a hidden gem off the beaten path.
2 for 1 steak night is awesome. Even better that you can choose to cook your own steak. Seasonings are limited, but for someone like me who likes the taste of beef, salt and pepper are just fine. Bartenders mix good drinks, takes a minute to get one so order the next round before your glass is empty. Its a big place. All in all its a great place with a great atmosphere. Kids are allowed in until a certain time so you can bring the whole family.
Havent been here in a while. Decided to take some family from out of state, what a mistake. We bought reserved seating for dinner. The lady in the front office hates her job, and was extremely rude. Then we go in and get seated at our reserved table. The place was nearly empty. It took 45 minutes for our waitress to show up, only after we asked 3 different staff members for help finding our waitress. We all ordered steaks, because thats what theyre known for. 5 of us got our steaks, and they were cold. I mean my beer was warmer than my steak cold. Then my guest asked about his food, and the waitress said, sorry, were out of T-bone. He then reordered and got his steak. No surprise, ice cold. The waitress blamed the cook.I apologized profusely to my out of state guests, because I wanted them to experience live music, and steaks, Texas style. Everyone on staff had an attitude.I have no idea how this place stays in business. Next time, we will take a trip out of town to a real country dance club/bar/steakhouse.
They band was good till they took a break then every body started leaving. We left at 10;15 . The place was dead on a Friday night. Hopefully Saturday night will be better, concert.
Fun, local club that offers a small menu and full bar. People come here for the great deals on steak, but they continue to come for the live bands and dancing. They offer free dancing lessons throughout the week and great mix of scheduled bands.
Fun! Great atmosphere, ordered 2 steaks that were both fatty and under seasoned and the drinks were over priced and weak. Still had a great time. We went when someone was performing so entry was $20 per person. A fight broke out at the end of the night too. 2 drunk guys. Will definitely be going back.
We always have a blast. Were not much on country music, but the live bands are really good! Love to watch everyone cutting a rug while enjoying my steak! The wait staff is helpful. We always get a good seat. The steaks are wonderfully seasoned and since my daughter wont do beef, she loved the chicken.
Loved how we got to cook our own steaks. Drinks were good but Margarita seemed water down. The band was amazing and we would definitely follow them for the next show. Bouncers do have a bit of an ego trip going on, but they do have a lot to deal with. We did appreciate how they were more then generous with our drunk friend protecting his wife. Will be back for sure!
Employees can be really rude and obnoxious. A friend bought tickets for the Jon Wolfe concert online. She emailed me a picture of my ticket with the QR code which also had the seating assignment. I walk up to the counter and present my ticket / QR code picture. The attendant said they didnt have a QR code scanner and she needed the last name of the person that bought the ticket. Well, I didnt know her last name and I was told I needed to text or call her. Well, on my way to the concert she texted that she was inside, but she didnt have cell service inside the building, so there was no way for me to text or call her. I tried explaining that to the lady. Finally, I sent a text that my friend would never receive to appease the counter lady. I explained I didnt understand why I needed to send a text that the lady would never receive. She was trying to tell me I had to wait until she got the text and came to the front. I desperately asked if they could let me in and show me the table where my group was sitting and I could get her last name. The blonde lady at the counter was adamant she couldnt let me in. I had to start arguing that I had a valid ticket and she should be reasonable in the situation. She didnt want to back down. We probably discussed everything fully twice. Finally, she went out and talked to someone inside. She brought the manager back and we had to re-hash everything yet again. It took an act of God, but they let me in, we found our table, got the last name they needed and all was good. But I couldnt believe how rude she was. At one point she was telling me that I didnt have to come there ever again.
Great dance floor and music. The food was bland and paying extra to have the cook make your steak instead of you cook it was a horrible idea because they made our steaks into shoe leather.... The front door staff the little older lady is a jerk avoid her at all cost. The waitress was overwhelmed because there were a ton of people. She still did great and made sure to get to us when she could. I gave 2 stars because the bland food and the lady at the front door.
Cool place, just dead, so wasnt what we expected
Great venue to see artists. Although it can get crowded, depending on the performer... the staff are pleasant and quick, for the most part. Great views of the stage almost anywhere you are.
Cooking your own steak is a neat experience. The steaks were a nice selection. The price was amazing. It has a night club atmosphere that I really did not like but I can see how others would enjoy it. Unfortunately, the service was lacking even though we were there early and not many people were eating yet and they were fully staffed.
Great place! Staff, food, sound, all great.
Visited Texas and went to eat dinner here. Grabbed the obvious thing to get, steak, and it was good. Big piece for a reasonable price. You have the option to grill it yourself or pay an extra $2 and they cook it for you 🤔. They have life music and dancing and a good sized bar. Nice spot to get some of that Texas entertainment and food.
Had a blast here! Cooked our own steaks - which seemed crazy to pay to do so, but it was actually quite fun. No meal prep. No clean up. No having to clean up the grill. Enjoyed the live music and dance floor.
The staff here made my experience so special, the drinks are good and the cook your own steak was cool! Shout out to our waitress I think her name was Kristen or Kristina she was so great! So were the performers and dance instructor! I’ll be back next time I’m in town!
My parents went here when they were my age and I’ve grown up around here my whole life. The place is always dead and the front desk ladies are start the night off bad with their horrible attitudes. The place is expensive for minors and they are stingy with the liquor. Will never Be back because of the front desk lady and the $50 tickets to see washed up artists play for a hour. Avoid this place don’t waste your money or your time. Spend your Friday or Saturday night anywhere but here.
Went for Kevin Fowler, show was great. The venue was well managed and set up good as well. Our bartender, Sterling, was awesome and the drinks were perfect. The cook your own steak thing is great, Ill definitely plan to eat here next time! Though it didnt bother me too much, they could put a little work into their ventilation system since its a smoking bar/steakhouse. All in all great place!
Our server Jay was amazing! We had a big group and we were coming in at different times, moving around at the tables, etc. She did such a great job!
I had a great time there... This place features some great talent and has tables for large groups... but the cover charge is a little steep.I managed to have a wonderful conversation with a young Bartender/personal psychologist, named Kaitlyn, and she made my night!
If you like great country music and dancing in a relaxing atmosphere, this is it! Great concerts too... From Legendary groups to up and comers, this place is amazing! They even have dance classes on Thursdays. So grab your boots, leave your cares behind and hit the dance floor.
Great food and loved the all inclusive atmosphere. The dance floor stayed busy. Great band. As the older generation was leaving the younger generation was pouring in. The ladies rooms need some work but Ive seen worse in Dallas.
The waitstaff were courteous and attentive. The food was good. I like that I can cook my own steak. We enjoyed the house band (The old guys) the second band was a little underwhelming, kinda loud on the vocals.Overall, we enjoyed the evening.
I recently lost my love.I can say she loved Southern Junction .After Jessica had diedI hung up my boots. Not any moreLast nightI asked the new love to marry me.We was at Southern JunctionAnd she accepted.I love the family atmosphereMusicDanceAnd the steak.Mostly I love that I get to make more memories with my new life with Gloria Teressa .Rest in peace Jessica Jeanne. We will keep your spirit with us on the dance floor at Southern JunctionThank you to all the staff and the band for keeping the love in the air.May your place always be the place for....... love dance..........
Good times here. Great music, large dancefloor, pool tables and plenty of table seating. Multiple bars, friendly staff and very clean restrooms. Food and drinks menu is fairly good, and prices are very reasonable. This is a wonderful place for country dancing, group gatherings and date nights. Service can be slow sometimes, but the atmosphere is always fun and worth it. Parking lot is a dirt field, location is a bit out of the way, but once you get inside you wont mind one bit. Definitely recommended.
Crib notes: Service was good and friendly. Band was good but DJ was mediocre at best. Fried appetizers were very greasy and wings were rubbery. I suggest eating elsewhere before going to see the band thats playing.
We attended my Uncles Birthday dinner here over the weekend.I like to expose my boys to the dancing atmosphere and cultivate their love for live music. Plus, its just good, clean fun no matter your age. From the second we walked in the door at 6pm with our 5 year old and 3 year old, we were met with a condescending kids need to be out by 8:30.As we were having dinner, we allowed the kids to play on the dance floor so we could enjoy our meal. Management came over the loudspeaker to say children need to get off the dance floor unless accompanied by an adult. There was literally no one on the dance floor. The bathrooms are horrid, structurally and sanitarily. This is the 2nd time theyve been unwelcoming to my boys. There will not be a 3rd.Owners should be ashamed of the way their staff treats people. These are the kids that will grow up to be in the bands that youll want playing at your establishment one day. Think about it.
Great place for dinner Arms dancing or to catch a concert! Food is good and you can cook your own steaks on their indoor grill. An original Texas Honky Tonk.
The Creed Fisher show was awesome 👌...we arrived early for dinner and was very disappointed with our NY Strips. Nothing but grisly fat. Couldnt even chew 1/4 of it. The waitress never offered to make it right. She just giggled and took the plate away. Well go back for more shows but will eat before we get there!
The place allows smoking inside (not why I rated 3 stars, just want yall to know). Good vibe from the staff. However, I had to wait for 45 minutes to get a cheeseburger. My family got their steak and finished it before I got my burger. We were the first customers of the night and there were several parties that got their food and left before I even saw mine. The burger was good and worth the wait, but I wish that there was a better explanation of why it took so long other than the kitchen is backed up.
Fun, easy atmosphere. April our waitress is friendly & always great service! And the food when we do eat a steak is always tasty regardless if we have it prepared or take the time to cook one ourselves. Broad spectrum of folks from famlies, seniors to singles!
Amazing steaks you can either cook yourself or have one of there amazing cooks cook for you. As well as live music with open dance floor and pool tables. This is a great country club/steakhouse just make sure you have an ID.
Not my cup of tea, but a great place over all.The music was really loud, and Im not a huge fan of paying that much for steak and having to cook it myself - I dont have that much trust in my culinary skills. It was also extremely dark. However, I ended up having good food (cheese burger cooked to perfection) and the service was adequate (I had a large and complicated group so I dont see how it could have gone any better)Ultimately, if your in to dancing and country culture, its your kind of place. Im a bit too much of a city boy, I guess.
We went as a family, with a group of 6 adults, 3 kids, and one infant. We arrived right when the restaurant opened and stayed until we had to leave with the kids (8:30). We ate dinner, one couple grilled their own steaks, and all the food was delicious. Service was great, drinks came out fast. Dance floor was empty, but music was playing, so kids enjoyed having run of the mill. I would say this is a so-so place for families in the early evening, but a fun country music bar once it gets going. Would like to go back without the kids next time.
Southern Junction was recommended by a clerk at Lowes. I went there and found an enjoyable atmosphere. The prices were fair, food was good, wait staff was attentive. When we first arrived about 6:00, the music was low and we were able to talk over dinner. Later, the volume went up to good level for dancing - not ear piercing. The DJ played mostly new releases - most songs I didnt know because I havent listened in a while. Band, Big in Vegas, play popular sing-along cover tunes. Overall my wife and I had a good time. Id like to invite friends to meet us there the next time. Kids are welcome with parents and they have the opportunity to experience a good Texas Honky Tonk.
Seen local bands from low bar bands to Casey Donahew and honest that since Ive seen him at several venues I was impressed by the sound quality here and though I dont dance my daughter who was 5 loved it but I wouldnt bring small kids here for anything but dinner as it is a bar too but we had dinner and music started early that night so she got to experience a little bit of the night life. Steaks are pretty good and you can cook it yourself or add $2 for them to cook it for you.
We like going there for the steaks. Unless they have a band playing that night then they charge you whatever cover charge is. They need a hour wrist band so you can go eat at 7 and leave by 8 and not have to listen to the band. Maybe half price for half the time and they still make you pay extra for a table. Kinda makes you wonder why they lost the other SoJo and having a hard time keeping this one open. Never turn away customers.
Always like coming here, food is great, music is great, but it seems like they are having issues with the old woman at the front acting like she hates her job, I definitely have problems entering every single time with her, almost like i’m not invited into the place, which may be why it has been getting less people in the doors. Other than that, when you get around her, it’s always good times from there!
Prices are great if you meet the requirements for the 2 for 1. We had eight in our party. A couple of the steaks were slightly overcooked. The band started late so we didnt have much time to enjoy the music.
Not sure if it was understaffed or what happened but orders were taking forever. The bar aspect is awesome. They need to step up the restaurant game.
My wife and I went for the free dance lessons. We only ordered tea and the wait staff was friendly and eager to serve. Instructors did a good job illustrating dance steps. The meals I saw being served look very appetizing. Will go back
Would give this place 5 stars for a great service, but management team stinks! We brought our our inlaws in from Arkansas and our kids for the all you can eat thursday special listed on their website, but they refused to honor the ad listed on their website. A manager mention that there was supposed to be a disclaimer stating that all specials were subject to change, however she couldnt find it. Very frustrating and will not recommend this place to anyone. Good food and great servers(especially April- she was impressive!), but the ads were very dishonest and disappointing. Great concept and could be great! Just not this trip.. hope for a better experience next time!Plus our kids chickens strip were over cooked and they wouldnt touch them! Really, not that hard????Not to add fuel to the fire, some lady on the dance floor made my 5 year old son cry. Her name was Ann? Something about him dancing out of control... sorry..... thanks for ruining dance for my kids!
We love SJ and have come here a hand-full of times since moving to the area. The steaks are great and we always bring our friends/family here when visiting Texas as its a VERY Texas experience. The issue we have is with the smoke. I realize its been a smoking establishment since it started, but by 9 or 10 pm the smoke is so terrible and begins to fill up the entire place. For non-smokers trying to eat a steak dinner, it can be extremely off-putting.What if there was just one Fri. or Sat. night per month that was non-smoking? Or what if one weekday night was a non-smoking night? My wife and I would go a lot more often if there was some sort of non-smoking option, but as it is, we only go every once in a while (once every 6 mo or so) and we dont stay past 10. If that ever gets changed or if a non-smoking option is added, well go much more. Thanks!
This place doesnt even deserve 1 star. When I came here I was expecting great food, great dancing, and a fun time. The food was terrible. I get that it was buy one get one steak, but you probably shouldnt offer it if you cant keep the quality up. The dance floor was crowded compared to a lot of other places in the area, and they kept the temperature much to high for how many people were there. I wont be returning.
Great place with genuine country style atmosphere. We enjoyed seasoning and cooking our own stake in the grill as well as dancing country music. Great deal on Friday nights until 7:00PM. Buy one stake and side and get one free. 100% recommended.
What a great place. We were there for a concert. The places itself gets 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ However, there is a certain waitress that was as slow as a turtle! She brought COLD fried pickles without ranch to dip them in. I told her to take them back, they were horrible anyway. It was like someone dumped a bottle of salt on them. Then we ordered steak dinners and after about an hour, we were wondering if we shouldve cooked them ourselves!! Two hours go by and we see the kitchen close, we thought that was it we werent getting our dinners. Then she brings them out, cold steaks, overcooked, soggy fries, her response was as if she could care less! If there is a next time, we will go to the bar ourselves and order what we need.
Overall a great experience. The two ladies that check Ids need a serious lesson in customer service. Everyone from actually inside the venue were super friendly and attentive. These two at the door are RUDE as HECK! Note to manager/owner- they are the first impression your customers interact with!!!!
Always a fun place. Great music, food & dancing. My White Russian however would not re eive a recommendation. Perhaps one of the other bartenders would have made it correctly, but I didnt give them the opportunity. Maybe next time will be better.
We started with 12 oz ribeye dinners. Then moved quickly into beers and whiskey. Live music was pretty good. There was a lot of good-looking people to see. But too many children and not enough pool tables. Overall the prices were ok.
We ultimately had a blast with friends when we went to see the Bellamy Brothers. We were disappointed when we found out that General Admission tickets (from a third party source), were standing room only. Separate reservations were apparently necessary for table seating. For out of towners, this information would have been very useful! Also, the dance floor was tiny! We often could not move - much less dance - on the dance floor.Regardless, it was a very fun evening.
I went for the Friday Early Bird 2 for 1 steak special. I found out the special will be canceled when they have concerts so I still paid the full price to taste the steak. I overheard that some people argued about not getting the special. The salad tasted off. It was so dark there that I couldnt check whether the salad was fresh or not. I paid $2 extra so I didnt have to cook my steak and it was tough even I ordered my steak medium rare. In the end, I had to rush to leave before 9:00 pm because I didnt pay for the concert.
So much fun! But do yourself a favor and cook your own steak. It was our first time, so we had the steak cooked for us to compare for next time. The grill masters werent as good as expected.
The food wasnt that great... steaks were really thin and way overpriced... but having some drinks with friends made it enjoyable.... the opening house band was way better than the headliner band...all in all if your from that area then im sure its better than driving to the ftw stockyards.....if youre in dfw... save your gas and get some extra drinks with the cash in the stockyards....
Wednesday night buy one get one free dinner is a great deal. I loved the music played there, too. Nice place to go eat, enjoy music and dance.
We have been talking about going out on Thursday nights since we got married, but never made the time for it. Im so bummed we didnt start earlier! We had a great time tonight. The special (pork ribs) was GREAT and its pretty nice having half price drinks. The dance lessons were really good given by talented dancers. My husband and I did the couples dance together then he sat out while I learned a new line dance. It was awesome ! I definitely hope we try harder to start making a habit of going out every Thursday night from now on. 😉
Need an ATM so you can get cash to purchase souvenirs. Need to redirect air conditioner vents to blow on the room and not the people trying to eat their food before their food gets cold.
Fun fun fun place. Come one, come all to this very inviting, very Texas ambience. I cant think of a better place to have dinner and country dancing and you can bring the whole family! Children can stay in the nightclub with you until 10pm. They allow minors and line dancing. Lol, which was a lot of fun.For an entertaining night without breaking the bank you can have your steak and eat it too. They have live music in Fridays and Saturdays. Wednesdays are 2-4-1 steaks and Thursday are flat iron steaks for a really low price.
We just wanted a cheap steak dinner. Forced to pay cover, even though we just wanted to eat and leave. I get it though, live bands so gotta collect a cover. However, paying $10 per person for cover then waiting an hour+ for an appetizer (that never made it to the table) and 2 entrees (that were decent) was insane. They werent even busy.
Generally pretty good. Decent burgers and good waitress. Dont expect ANYONE to wear a mask. Sound guy needs to get it together. WAY to loud, couldnt hear the singers track at all, fully distorted
This place is a huge disappointment. It smells, it’s dirty, outdated and a poor excuse of an establishment. Save your time and find a better place. Save yourself the hassle of dealing with untrustworthy staff.
Had a great time. We cooked our own steaks and enjoyed the live band!
Let me start off by saying that we have been to SoJo MANY times for dinner and dancing. The bands are usually always good. Last night was the last time we will ever be back for dinner. Our party of 6 got there at 7 and all ordered from the menu. 4 steak dinners and 2 chicken dinners. We literally waited 2 hours for our food to arrive. When it finally arrived, all 4 steaks were cooked on the outside and ICE cold on the inside. Not warm but ICE cold. The potatoes were cold, the texas “toast” was texas bread and butter. Not toasted at all. The veggies (peppers, red onions, mushrooms) with the chicken dinners were literally completely raw. We usually are not complainers but this was uncalled for. The manager came to the table and as we were telling her our issue, she says they had 45 orders come in at once and that’s why it took so long. We didn’t have a problem with the wait (BUT you’d think they’d be prepared for that on a Saturday night). It was the food when it finally arrived. We literally COULD NOT eat it. The manager informed us that we could go put it on the grill ourselves. WHAT??? If we wanted to grill our own food, we would’ve done that in the beginning. We had to put ALL of it on the grill ourselves except for the chicken. Needless to say, after some lengthy conversation, we got the meals free which definitely should have been that way. The Bands were great but the food service has gone DOWN HILL.
Our server wasnt very helpful didnt explain how the 2 for 1 special went, when we specifically told her we are wanting that special. Well we get our bill, and it doesnt reflect the special price, she informs us that the steaks we chose were not included!! Hmm well that would have been nice to know at the beginning of our meal. There isnt enough light on the tables. I dont like how its dark! Battery operated candles are on each table which are too dim for me to eat my food comfortably. On the plus side it was definitely a different and unique experience cooking my own steak.
BEST HONKY TONK AROUND!!! Had the best time ever here. The drinks are wonderful, not watered down, the music is off the hook! Love the bull ride. !
If you are looking for an authentic Texas experience, this nostalgic establishment is worth the drive. Where else can you cook your own steak and listen to a live band. If you know how to two step or want to take dance lessons check out their website for more information.
Generally a pretty good place to spend an evening. $4. for a bottle of beer :( Usually a friendly crowd. Staff too, for the most part. Be sure you like the band that will be there because its a killer to have to listen to garbage all night. Rob Dixons band is a good one. DJ seems to cater to the younger crowd though there are plenty of older people there, too. Also, I was a little taken aback by the DJs language given the fact that there were small children present. Certain elements of the dress code seem to be overlooked by the staff. With a few easy changes this could be a real honky-tonk. Bottom line: Leave the kids at home and go when there is a good band. Youll have a good time.
Everyone was nice. The food was great! The music was better.
Typical Country dance joint. It has plenty of tables, a nice sized dance floor, interesting light system, loud music (sometimes live) and a mechanical bull.Unfortunately, it was smoky and the food was overpriced (and firmly mediocre). However, the place seems like it could be fun with the right group of friends - if you dont mind the smoke, and are looking for a place to drink and cut a rug!
Food its not the best but the place is wort stoping by and have a good time.Over all its a very nice place!
Been coming here for almost a decade, great steaks, nice open dance floor. You choose which stream youd like, marinate it with more options than you knew were possible, then grill it to perfection yourself. (they can cook it for you if you really want)Live music on Friday nights. The place could use some better AC though.
Horrible service. Literally the worst waitress I have ever had. Manager was not helpful, customer service is nonexistent. Took an hour and a half to get a chicken sandwich for my 70 year old father. Everyone else had salad and steaks come out and hes sitting there waiting. Just horrible.
Hmm...i keep wondering after reading a number of these reviews if we are talking about the same place. Am i understanding that many of you are ordering steak to be delivered to your table? If so, i never even considered that as an option. Half the reason (and experience) of going to this place is to cook your own steak. Its fun to do, great social experience, and you can do it exactly the way you like it. My suggestion, if you are going to go here, you should be cooking your own steak.
I really love going here, but we had reservations at a hightop table and payed good money for it on New Years eve. There was a problem with people who didnt have reservations coming in and standing in front of us. We couldnt watch the band or the dancing. I talked to one of the security guys, he told me there was nothing he could do. It wasnt fair for us to have payed extra for good seats and have such a simple problem not to be taken care of.
Attended a Christmas dinner party on Saturday night. Atmosphere was great! Waitresses were awesome! Food was hit or miss. Some of our meals the meat was overcooked and couldnt eat it. We will all be back for more fun.
It has a cover charge overpriced drinks not very good service not many single women there might check it out again. Not that many people there though. I will be checking out some of the other local bars, i will let you know how that goes.
Any place that starts the night showing respect for our flag and what it represents in good in my book. They have really good burgers and steaks. Cant be it!
Best honkey tonk! I think I might enjoy the house band more than seeing a big name. They can play anything! This place just puts you in a good mood. We always have the same waitress and shes wonderful!
FAN-TAS-TIC. Wednesday night is 2-fer-one steaks. You cook your own on giant grills then choose your own potato on a buffet line. The service was fast and efficient. There was incredible live music (fiddle was amazing) with a large dance floor; perfect for the whole family. Some kids were running across the floor, dancing together and it felt so sweet. Our group had a great time.
As much fun as concerts are to attend, the place is a dump. The bathrooms are dirty and disgusting(smelled like piss), only a couple of the urinals were even operational, and the ceiling is covered in decades of dust, smoke, and who knows what else.(you can see what it looks like in other peoples photos) Id hate to see what the kitchen looks like.
Live music and a great atmosphere. The cook your own steak was cool and had good drinks. Service took a long time even though they didn’t seem extremely busy.
Great place to go with friends. We love Wednesday nights for the 2 for 1 steaks. My husband always cooks them for us and they are great! Love the love band too!
Great service at the actual bar!! But the worst service from our server that Ive ever experienced in my entire life in 3 hours she came to our table a total of three times after 3 hours and her waiting on all the other tables around us finally came to take our order after the other tables have already eaten and ready to pay we finally ordered took another hour the food was called we sent it back and the manager expected us to pay for it
Took over an hour to get my burger. Husband got his overcooked steak first. Then my friend got her chicken fingers several minutes later. A long time later I filly got my burger. Manager finally came over after we requested it 3 times. Also not great... 4 out of 5 stalls in the ladies room were out of toilet paper. Big dance floor though and not too crowded.
Our first time here. Well be back. Facility was great, Honky Tonk atmosphere, staff were extreamly gracious and our waitress worked extreamly hard to make sure our needs were taken care of. Music was outstanding!
This place used to be the place to go to for an awesome time with friends and family. Unfortunately, there isnt aNO star for this review. When you come back home for family visits this is the last thing youd think would happen. Well tonight was the worst experience & Im sorry I even made the reservations. Service with the cashiers to the doormen were barking rude from the start. Yes we had a minor in our party but there is no reason in hell to treat her with such utter disrespect. Wed lose the waitress & then once she was found was put off that we mightve needed something. The food/steaks were mediocre. Fried pickles tasted like a bucket of saltlick and even though we had to cook our own steaks (part of the charm of whatever) the said minors order didnt arrive to the table until most of us were halfway through the meal. Veggies for the cheeseburger tastes frozen & onion rings had major bath of beer making them inedible. $151 (tip included) later (I feel) we were screwed out of, we now know that this a place to NEVER to go back to. Be safe & beware because Im now feeling it all come back up toooooooo.
Bar didnt know how to make very many drinks or shots.. Tables cost way to much! Price for beer and drinks was very Pricey.. Band was Awesome! Waitresses were Awesome!
Went here for our Valentines day adventure. I wish we wouldnt have. I dont recommend this place to any first timer. They dont tell you how the set up is they have horrible customer services and our food was cold. We even paid extra to have the cook our food. Upon arrival we gave the guy our tickets and thought okay we will wall around maybe they have a place for us to order. Nope had to wait to be seated. They had clearly over 30 tables not in use or reserved. I know because they had signs. The host was no where in sight and we stood waiting for no joke 20 minutes. No waitress could help us because they arent trained to seat people. So we stood there and stood there. Upon host arrival we stood another 5 minutes as she aimless looked around to figure out where we could set. Once again 30 open tables not even reserved. I was to the point I was about to do her job.So 25 minutes for us to be seated. After a drink and ordering we received our salad. To no surprise we have to forks. Took 10 minutes for us to even get that. Drinks are over priced and watered down. No joke. I dont drink very often like once a month and I literally tasted no alcohol in my margarita. Had to order a double shot Jack and coke to taste a hint of alcohol. Needless to say we stayed for those two drinks and left. What was to be an amazing night was horrible disappointment. Never will I recommend this place to anyone. Your team needs major organization.
The food was decent, staff was very friendly but is not a place that I will come back to. The atmosphere was not what I was expecting and seems to be more for the older crowd.
I was a little reluctant to go to this place after reading the reviews. We recently moved to Royse City and found this place on the map. My wifes birthday was January 30th and she wanted to try this place for dinner. I called and left a message for a reservation. My call was returned and reservations were set for 6:30pm for me, my wife and her parents. All 4 of us had the same thing, the Ribeye. We paid the $2 bucks and had them cook it up. My Father-in-law had 3-4 beers. Our tab was only $60 because we were there for the early-bird special. The price for those steaks and that meal was superb!Everyone we dealt with was super nice! From the front door to the waitress to the man that opened the door for us on our way out telling us to have a wonderful evening. Well be back very soon! I highly recommend you giving this place another try if youve previously gone and had a bad experience. And, just treat people with respect and youll surely be treated the same way!
We were there for buy one get one free night and it was ok. Small steak, salad, piece of toast and baked potato for 25.00 plus 2 bucks if they cook it. Guess it was ok considering It was buy one get one. They do not have any draft beer or sweet tea. Weird. Live band started about 8. Just dont look up there is a layer of dust on the ceiling and air conditioning that was amazingly thick. I cant even understand how it could pass safety, breathing or public codes. If that doesnt bother you then its a great place to hang out.
The steak was cooked perfectly, however everything was cold. The music was great, its a fun place to have drinks and dance. I will say dont order a long Island tea, lol.
We typically have a good time at this bar because they have one really great bartender and music is decent but the security is always trying to pick a fight. The bar was dead so they they choose the smallest guy in our crowd to pick on. Other than the one bartender that I have unfortunately never caught his name service is sub par and after tonight I will never go there again. My response to yours below:I had a beer in one hand as my other hand was stamped to step outside and what seemed to be the same person that stamped my hand stopped me on the way back in telling me to get rid of the beer I had just purchased from you. I have seen people going in and out with alcohol on multiple occasions so I had no idea when I walked outside that I was not allowed to take my beer and your staff certainly did not inform me. The appropriate time to do so would have been prior to allowing me to walk out with it. I did not slap your security staff and if that’s what you were told I would urge you to check your cameras.
We went last night with my inlaws. (We were a big group) We use to be some of the regulars on every Thursday but it had been a while since we have been. We were all sooo disappointed... First all of our meat was soggy and cold... like it was cooked yesterday, then put in water in refrigerator, then served to us. 🤢We heard table next to us talking about it too... We paid 130 plus tip for our food... everything cost extra (salad, fries etc) things that use to be included in the all you can eat ribs, Everything now cost extra.. 😡Going back to the food. Horrible we will not be eating here again... we were all so disappointed as we have missed it... we were about to start coming for dance lessons again... maybe next time we will eat somewhere else if we come back? also the whole place smells like an old dirty sponge...(maybe an bad roof leak you got going on? ) Its a very pungent smell.. The whole place is so run down (bathrooms are the worst... nasty)The whole place has gotten much worse in the past 2 or 3 years.. if you guys dont fix something your going to continue to lose business (small crowd last night) ... very sad... Oh and for whatever reason there was a waitress laying on the girls bathroom floor blocking the door. Had a hard time getting up... (this was 730am)Gross.... drugs? Drunk? Idk she said she was pulling up her pants and had to lay down to do so Hopefully you guys will update the whole place, fix the old dirty sponge smell (the snack bar) Bring the good cook back. Before its too late and you have to close because of lack of business... Im not writing the review to be mean. I sincerely would like to give a review of what people are thinking or saying in hopes that it will be taken seriously. Yall are the closest country club around would like to come back on a regular basis but we are all willing to go elsewhere, as there are nicer places.. This makes us all sad... I grew up coming here all the time...😢
This place is fun and offers free dance lessons weekly. They are also family friendly and have great specials on their excellent steaks. Evenings are fun with a live band and biggest dance floor in the DFW area.
The food is WAY TO OVER PRICED. Came out cold. Service was GREAT, we had a large party and our waitress was pretty on top of things all night. The band was good too
Very unsatisfied with the experience A-Affordable Bail Bonds has had our x-mas parties here for past 7 yrs and today was just HORRIBLE, reservations were at 7pm we ordered by 8pm our food didnt arrive till 10:30pm not only that 1/2 the orders were cold an 4 of my invites steaks were BURNT past well done CHARCOAL taste, other parties after us were served before us, so upset I will NOT plan next year here, finally not least , poor customer service , the older lady at the front was rude an very grumpy. Sorry Southern Junction youve lost a client or if not more
Steaks were fatty with little meat, potatoes were small and cold. Had a new waitress that obviously needed more training.Dance floor was sticky, when asked about putting dust on floor they put down something that crunched while dancing. Band was good, not to loud, played a variety of old and new, played requests. Have not been here for a long time and not sure if will go back anytime soon
Great place to dance and the food is amazing! The best steak Ive ever had and Im a Texan so its pretty good! Ask for Shawn at the bar, hes the best and has been there 20 years.
Good music and food. Get the steak dinner where u get to choose your cut of meat. Then the fun begins, you get to cook it. They have everything you need to cook a perfect steak. If u dont to cook and just drink, they will cook it for you. The baked potatoes are huge! Plus you get to make and bake your own Texas toast.
Great place to see a concert and have drinks and dancing. There is not that many Honky Tonks anymore! Especially serving a good steak! Service is great! Drinks are strong!
Worse experience ever. Nothing like the old SJ I grew up with. The staff was so uptight and rude from the minute we entered the door. They do not allow any aerials bc someone may get hurt and for safety reasons.Last I checked we are all adults and responsible for our own actions as well as performing safely. We dipped at the end of a song and again got scolded for my feet leaving the ground. Shame on you for ruining a good dancing experience and pushing paying customers out of the door.I will never return and definitely ensure all my friends know of the poor experience. There are much better bars that do not have such ridiculous restrictions. We danced at the Corsicana Opry last week and they cheered and encouraged good dancing💃🏼 Avoid this snooty place!
Ok, In past, I left a review saying good times,,,, but now? The bathrooms are disgusting. The carpeting and seating is terrible. The drinks are horrible and service was slow.Very disappointing, since this was once one of my favorite places to go!
I always enjoy coming to Southern Junction. Wednesdays and Fridays are 2 for 1 steak nights. Thursdays are all you can eat ribs and flat iron steaks. You can cook your own or for an additional $4 their grill master can cook to order. Their house bands are pretty good and they get big name artists regularly.
