Just John Club

This bar needs to work on their brand. They claim to be closed due to fights, but there are not any cops showing up to break up the alleged fights. I also witnessed them let at least five people in through the exit after claiming they were closed. Myself and many others had waited 30 plus minutes in line. In comparison when I went to the bar down the street they were screaming they were closed and not wasting peoples time! I understand unforeseen issues arise but communication is imperative in those situations and also you probably shouldn’t let your friends in the back door…. Also read their replies to reviews they seem rather arrogant and dismissive.

My actual favorite place on earth. me & my girls make karaoke night a MUST. the people&staff are so amazing and kind (i love you DJ MEGO!!!!) the drinks are so good the patio is cannabis friendly so thats a HUGE perk!! i love u just john ❤️

Average gay bar with decent gender neutral restrooms. It would be nice if they played more popular, current music that is trending. The service doesn’t always seem to be on point. The main issue I have is with the outdoor area. It can be difficult to traverse due to many levels that aren’t clearly marked and potentially a safety hazard! ⚠️ Since they replied I have to add this, the skywalk in Kansas City Hyatt Regancy was also beautiful! Looking good is not as important as safety and human life.

The only reason I write this is I am appalled at what I saw 7-3-24 at approx. 10:45 PM. I walked into the club to have a beer or two and saw a group of women that were having drinks. One of the women was seated, holding a passed out 5-7 year old girl. Yes, you read that correctly. The child was not drinking (I truly hope), but was obviously exhausted enough to be sleeping in someones arms IN A NIGHTCLUB. EVERY SINGLE ADULT involved and also in the club has failed that little girl. THE ONLY reason I did not take a picture and post for all to see is that little girl. This is NOT a bar/restaurant where kids can come to eat and play a bit while the adults responsibly have some fun too. It is a 100 percent Adult venue with VERY adult things inside. AT 10:45 PM. I did inform STL Metro PD. I did practice some restraint and did not engage these people even though I was boiling inside. I left immediately. Unfortunately this is the world we live in where if I had acted quite appropriately I could be the one in hot water. This is not acceptable in any way. You poor little girl, please be OK.

My roommate and I were craving a night out and we chose Rehab. After not being served promptly at Rehab we strolled over to Just John Club. Very professional, non-pretentios service, great drinks, great atmosphere,very good clientele of drama-free folks and an overall outstanding experience. We will definitely go back - and will spread the word. Keep up the fabulous work.

I have enjoyed your bar for years, but when I was denied water when asked, this blonde bartender (5/12) gave me attitude and refused. This is despicable and I feel immoral.I was a paying costumer who had servers drinks. Why is she a horrible person?

I genuinely love Just John’s , and I’ve been coming for some time now . But lately on Saturdays the music on the patio just hasn’t been hitting like it use to .. it’s like the same recycled playlist . There’s soo much good music that has been released it’s time for something new.

Great bar! The bartenders were very kind and quick to get orders out. Drinks were solid, and VERY well priced. Patio was a nice touch, didn’t even know it existed for the first hour lol. They had karaoke 🎤 and people were vibing well. Would definitely go again :)

Been coming here around a decade. Was my first gay bar and Ill be going here till they kick me out for old age.Low prices for drinks, bartenders pour well and are quick usually. Theyre also very very friendly!Usually clean bathrooms and love what they did w the renovations the past years!Very inclusive environment, good mix of old and new club music, AWESOME patio w lots of floor space as well as seating.

This place is so much fun. Every single time I go I have a blast. The staff is friendly, the music is great, the crowd is lively. I reserved a table for New Years Eve and had a blast. The have mixes playing and videos that are so much fun.

Great energy, reasonable drink prices and accommodating staff! All interactions were positive and met some great folks. Will return.

I went there with my boyfriend and my best friend who visited me from 4 hours away. We walked into Just John and immediately the bouncer looked over to his coworker. They both scrutinized our IDs and said we cant come in because they couldnt trust us that night.... maybe we should come another night. Mind you, we are well over 21 and there was nothing abnormal about our IDs. He even tried to peel them apart himself to prove his hypothesis that our IDs just had to be fake; there was no way we could simply be legal adults who wanted to give our service to this place. We were treated like criminals for wanting to visit this club. Obviously, if you dont look a certain way, they will turn you away. I will never return to this place and will be sure to report this profiling incident to the necessary parties.

Indoor and outdoor bars. Separate seating areas both inside and out. Nice outdoor stage/dance area. Drink prices were reasonable, and very good during happy hour. We visited on Kentucky Derby Day and there was a nice food spread.

Came in on a Sunday. They had the Cardinals game playing!!!!! Dee is super friendly and an amazing bar tender!! Only down fall, no chicken wings!!! But they did have a fairly decent pizza. Great patio!

I used to come here frequently until tonight. My male partner chose to use a stall instead of a urinal and was instantly profiled as “throwing up” and therefor our entire party got kicked out. This is discriminatory and an extremely offensive practice for a LGBTQIA+ bar. The “manager” that claims to witness this is met by several counter witnesses and deserves to be fired.

The guy behind the bar was super nice. Drinks were reasonably priced, new to the city and we both felt super welcomed. Will be returning again, I highly recommend Just John to anyone that is looking for a cool chill bar!

This is my favorite bar in St. Louis! The owners really care about their staff and customers (love the Covid policy to protect everyone) and the staff is so nice. The recent renovation is beautiful. The owners are really great people who do a lot for the community, so I feel good about supporting a place like this. The music is great, drinks are cheap and every time I go there it’s so much fun, just a really positive atmosphere. If you’re from out of town like me, definitely check this place out!

Friendly Bartenders! Great drinks! And always a good time! Karaoke on Thursday’s is an absolute blast! The owners are also the sweetest people you’ll ever meet and truly care about their patrons.. they recently announced proof of full covid-19 vaccination to enter the establishment, which makes me feel so much more safe and protected during this time of the pandemic. The most important thing a business can do is protect their customers and staff, and they are doing just that! Thanks Just John!!:)

This was the worst Karaoke I’ve ever been to. This was my first time and last. The DJ was awful! I showed up an hour before they started, and put two songs in via their sign up method. I NEVER GOT TO SING. The DJ kept cycling back through the “regulars”, and her favorite selections by them. Additionally, her ear for quality sound isn’t the best. The bartending staff was great though.

One of the most popular gay bars in St Louis. Best outdoor patio in a gay bar. Music videos on multiple screens. Younger crowd most nights, but show tunes videos on Sundays is popular with a mostly 30 to 50 crowd.

I love this bar and the owners! I have seen them give back to the community time and time again through hosting fundraisers or giving direct donations to many non profit organizations. I personally have never had a bad experience here and the staff has always been great. Also, big kudos to them for doing everything they possibly can to keep their employees and patrons safe during a global pandemic!

Just Johns has a really nice nightclub atmosphere with an amazing staff. The patio is also really cool! The bartenders are fast and friendly. The djs are awesome. They also care about public safety, which is a definite bonus. I definitely recommend this bar if youre looking for a fun day/night out!

I was at this establishment tonight your management team was horrible i came in and i was very cordial and nice as were my friends my id was expired so he said that he could not let me in, that was fine with me i know it’s technically against the law thats not my problem here, my problem is the way he approached the situation was horrible he gave me and my friend an attitude and we hadnt even said all of 2 words to him i asked to speak to a manager he said that the manager was his fiance both had very Bad attitude’s zero out of ten idk if it was because of my race or what but i felt very unwelcomed in what is supposed to be a welcoming bar for people of all types. It definitely wasnt giving that i know people have bad days and they probably deal with alot of drunks but why project that negative energy onto someone who had done nothing to you and then he spoke to us as if we were slow or special just a horrible experience across the board i know many people wont speak up about it but i will and i will do so everytime

Always been the best staff that care about their community and those who frequent their establishment. Play darts for fun and annual tournaments never had an issue with anyone. Keep up the great work, covid-19 has taught us all different respect and I feel happy that they are stepping up to protect us all.

Moved to stl a couple years ago and didnt understand the city life for a country kid trying to make it in the city. In the past few years Ive made some amazing friends with the bartenders. Managers. And owners. The patrons that come in during happy hour have taught me the city well and some have become the best of friends. If youre new or just visiting the city. Give this place a try and enjoy some of the music. Drinks and have a great time. I know I always do. During the pandemic they stayed closed till the could safely reopen. Now with the new variant they are following the mask rules but theyve also implemented a vaccine mandate. This makes me feel a lot safer. I was willing to get the vaccine due to the possibilty of keeping me and others healthy and safe. I love the knowledge of going to the bar and everyone around me has made the same choice to keep people safe and alive. For anyone leaving bad reviews. You wont stop me from going to one of the few places I enjoy and know to be safe and for the health of everyone there. If this is what youre looking for and want a night out with some vaccinated friends. Stop on by. Have a great time and stay healthy.

Bartenders and atmosphere are great here. Also a lot of fun events are planned throughout the year. Customers can be a bit too rowdy like any bar, but staff know how to generally handle the crazy ones.

JuJo is my home away from home. Always clean, great staff, good vibe, great drinks, and an awesome layout. The owners care about the safety of the public and are doing everything they can to stop the spread of Covid. I always feel comfortable and welcome there. Wish I could give this rating more than 5 stars!

I was walking up to the lezo with my ID as requested, i tripped over my own feet - as one would but did not fall or trip anyone else - and she said I could not enter because I tripped. Awful bar, awful low grade people in an atmosphere of filth.

Love this bar . Staff is very friendly and outgoing. I’ve never had a bad experience here. The COVID policy’s here have made me safe. Knowing that management cares about my safety and the safety of the staff is the reason I will always return here for good times and community celebrations.

Visiting from Wisconsin and stopped by for a drink. The staff were very friendly especially the bartender who was alone at the small bar by entrance. I cant recall his name but he was super handsome, friendly, accommodating, and kept me company while he wasnt busy. And I loved his signature drink, kicked my butt tho. I think the only rude people here were the guests. Definitely going back on my next visit. :-)

Fraudulent drink charges were added to my 3 drink tab to a total of $57.00. Management was very dismissive of the situation but said they were going to check the tapes and call me the next day. I never received a call back after leaving a voicemail and making multiple calls back to the club. I had to dispute the charge through my credit agency which was a lengthy hassle, but ultimately resolved itself. Looking at other poor reviews, fraudulent charges on a tab without resolve from management seems to be a reoccurring issue.I would recommend going to any other bar in the Grove though, this seems to not be an issue at every other bar in the area. Rehab & Handlebar are nearby options! If you insist on coming here, keep your tab closed or pay with cash.

Always a good time with great drinks from the bartenders, great music from the DJs and such a fun atmosphere maintained by the staff. Job well done to those at Just John for being a safe place for the LGBTQ+ community and allies alike!

Spent several evenings here during Christmas/New Years. Drinks were stiff and the men were nice. Kareoke night was packed and a great time. The outdoor patio is really nice but we didnt stay long due to all the smokers.

Just John has a great patio and the owners are very involved with the community. Its a great place for a night out with friends. I love the fact that you need to show your vaccination status for entry.

One of the more popular spots for the homos. Great patio. Music is tired and unimaginative. Could use some rotation with the DJs…changing the music would take this place to the next level.

Ive been there 4 times now, and two of them I had bad experiences with staff being rude.The most recent was new years eve. The door man checking IDs wasnt even trying to be nice. I understand that is a busy night and being busy can cause staff to be grumpy, but being barked at as soon as you walk in puts a downer on your night when all youre trying to do is have a good time.We spent the rest of the night bouncing between Atomic Cowboy and Handlebar. I would recommend them before Just Johns.

The DJ is awful, she plays the same songs every night, and when she does their Karaoke it’s even worse. She’s not very welcoming to new folks/talent. Don’t waste your time or energy going here.

So glad Just John has joined with other bars and restaurants by implementing proof of vaccinations for entry. It’s important to protect their guests and staff. Those who are against it, we’ll send thoughts and prayers when you get Covid.

Ive been coming here since I first came to stl in 2012. Sometimes more or less than others these days but 2012 -2013 when I was still a hot mess I partied here among a couple others and found it very easy not only being myself but to do my own thing as well. A+++ here for the last year though I have come to like just Johns more so for Monday nights bingo from 8pm-1130pm with a new and awesome hostess BUTTERSCOTCH :D

Love the place. Efficient, fast and friendly bartenders. Excellent entertainment and a great patio. JuJos is doing their part to help us all get through COVID and their efforts are very much appreciated and respected.

They require proof of vaccination to enter now. 👎🏻 If there was a state or federal mandate requiring that, it wouldn’t be so bad. This anti vaxx libertarian will steer clear until they lift this policy.

Just John’s is the Go To place in the Grove. This is the only bar my friends and I like to go to. When you provide excellent service, great atmosphere, clean facilities, great music, and fair prices, I’ll be there. Thanks to the wonderful owners and staff for providing a fun welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy!

First time I felt discriminated against in The Grove was here. If you are black female, identifying as stud, butch or even androgynous I would NOT recommend it. I tried talking to the manager of the bar and he literally attempted to through a bottle of beer at me which thanks to his poor sportsman skills, it flung on his barkeep. That’s probably a good summation of this bar.

My girlfriend went there last night and had three middle eastern men with green and yellow country pins try to box her in and push her to a back area. They then harassed her until her and her friends had to leave. Watch out for these creeps!!!

Just John is the best LGBT bar in St. Louis. The staff is always friendly, the owners are extremely charitable to local non profits and they run a clean and organized establishment. It’s the place to be in the STL

I already didnt like this place because I knew how badly they treated their employees but last Saturday I decided to pop in for a beer near closing time. Mistake. I bought 1 beer. When I checked my transactions a few days later, I was charged $27. I called 4 times, was told to call back twice and left 2 messages. It wasnt until I wrote a bad review on facebook and messaged them that I got almost an immediate call back from John, the owner. He told me there was nothing he could do on his end, that I had to go to my bank and dispute it, then my bank would have to contact them for a copy of a receipt and then my bank would refund me. I worked in the industry for almost 10 years, and I know he was completely capable of tracking down the receipt, going into is POS system and do it himself. So, to whatever bartender got that $20+ tip off my one beer, youre a low life. And John is a careless owner when it comes to not only his customers, but his employees.

In comparison to Chicagos Boystown, I really enjoyed Just Johns. The mix of indoor and outdoor patio spaces with three bars means lots of room for large groups and mingling with people. I spent my birthday here (a Saturday) and loved it. The DJ was accommodating and danced the night away with friends on their elevated stage area.

Awesome staff, excellent drinks! Love what you’re doing to keep your staff and patrons safe during covid. Hands down favorite bar in the grove! A++++++++++!

So am currently sitting in urgent care with one of my best friends who was literally thrown onto asphalt by one of this place’s bouncers- cracked skull. Tried calling to discuss it and was treated with complete disdain and dismissiveness. Tried a second time, and when they answered they claimed to be Imo’s pizza. Assault is illegal, and I strongly recommend that the owner of this place find a good lawyer, because they will soon be in court. Good luck.

Great bar, great staff, reasonably priced drinks and a nice atmosphere. Staff does a superb job of keeping the place clean and making sure everyone has a responsible amount of fun (and helps keep unruly people moving along).

Went there on a quiet Tuesday night for a drink with a friend. It’s a nice space with a great outdoor patio. Drinks are cheap and the staff were friendly. There was karaoke on here on the Tuesday. Apparently on weekends they do drag shows.

How about y’all turn down the volume from your business to a reasonable volume at a reasonable time and refrain from annoying the residents who chose to live at the Grove 🤔 it’s 1:122 am now 🤷‍♀️ anyone know where to submit a written complaint with the city with a time stamp recording of this annoyance every weekends (Friday to Sunday)?

I meet some friends here on Friday. We walked out to the patio bar & immediately I felt something drop on my head. I touched it & it was GLUE!I had two spots of glue in my hair that was melting off the ceiling due to the outdoor heater. I told the bartender & asked for something to help wipe it out. He didnt really care & offered me the dirty towel he wipes the bar with. One of my friends also had glue spots on him. It took me about 30 mins when I got home to get the glue out of my hair.Plus, when we were leaving there was puke everywhere! They just put a wet floor sign up & people were walking through it.

Great ownership, staff and fellow patrons! Greatly appreciate their decision to keep everyone safe by requiring vaccinations! My home away from home!

They won’t let you in unless you have Pfizer or Moderna. If you have Johnson and Johnson, they won’t let you in because it’s “not effective since it’s not mRNA”. If you’re a foreigner who was vaccinated with Sinopharm or AstraZeneca, they will think your foreign vaccine card is fake and call the police. They called the police on my Romanian friend who got the Sputnik V vaccine back in his home country.

One of the best bars I have been to. Really a great place, I have met individuals that I am now friends with, bar tenders remember my name, treated with great service!

It is a rather nice club, fun crowd, decent bar layout, good dance floor. However, if you arent a young, hetero-passible, handsome male, have fun waiting 15+ minutes for a drink.

I had an average gay bar experience here. The people watching was average, the music was average, and the drinks were average.It felt as if this bar was a xeroxed copy of Chicagos Sidetrack and Roscoes combined.
