Edit: so in my initial review I mentioned it had closed and then reopened under new ownership. Things have changed a lot, not for the good. While the place isn’t bad, they took a truly unique place with great people and music at a fair price, and in my view ruined it by playing the same music you’d find anywhere else in the city and charging expensive covers to be a part of it. Sad to see, this was my favorite place for music in the city. I honestly wish it would change its name so people wouldn’t confuse this with the old one and think it’s the same. I hope the old owners can open something up somewhere else, if so I will return! Keeping original review below for visibility.Havent been yet since they reopened (as been out of town), but prior to it closing it was the best place for music in San Antonio. The bands are always great, the decor and all that are awesome, drinks are reasonably priced, food truck is great, and the staff is incredibly friendly. First and last time Ill be coming here. 15 dollar cover charge to get in per person. There was a live band and the music was excessively loud. I dont mean Im grandpa loud... It almost hurt my ears. It was ridiculous. I couldnt get my order in with the waitress without yelling directly into our ears. When we did get our drinks, it was extremely disappointing. My wifes was mediocre but my whiskey sour was horrible. I did not expect a nice looking place like this to serve premixed walmart cocktails. That was some amateur hour drink. The worst!! With a name like Luna I was expecting like the description says cozy and fun. This place is all sorts of wrong. I dont recommend it.

I had a great time listening to New Orleans Jazz at Luna. The place was not crowded on a Thursday night, and there was plenty of room to dance. The decor was swanky and created a nice atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed their drinks. The food truck in the back made delicious food and gave hefty portions featuring brisket. Nice place for a date or girls night. I will definitely be returning with my husband.

So Ive been to Luna prior to the new owners and it was awesome no complaints. Saturday the 23rd of March I met up with some friends that are from out of town and first I met at the door with a $20 dollar cover ok no problem, but then head to the bar finally after 10/15 minutes order my drink 40 minutes later still didnt get my drink. It was not that busy at all compared to before with the prior owners . Ive been a bartender for 7 yrs and I feel like the bartenders dont know how to make drinks . So dont waste your time or money....... I definitely will not be returning and highly recommend going to another business....

Saw Tomar’s last night - really solid band. Also nice venue and has an old school, vintage environment: little corner with old photos and records, an old pay phone booth, vintage decor all around... You’re also welcome to dance next to the stage.

Atmosphere, drinks, music were all top notch! Did not appreciate the surprise 10$ per person cover charge that they didnt post on their flyer. Other than that it was good vibes and good times all around.

I used to like this place but not anymore. My first complaint was having to pay an entry fee of $20 and all the tables were reserved with no signs that said reserved. They had lots of tables open when we were there. The bar was horrible. We waited close to 30min to 45min just to get a drink and it wasnt even strong like they used to be before the new owners took over. Bartenders dont know how to make a good drink The band was ok but they only played Spanish music. Also the place smelled so bad like a really strong cologne. It made me feel nauseous. I thought it was the guy next to me but when he left and it was still there I assumed it was the bar

Music at Luna is great, food truck offers greasy unflavored food. There should be a variety of trucks alternating nights to offer some options. Drinks here are lackluster at best. Will try it out again in a few months, they may be working through staffing.

$20 dlls for cover, they moved us out of the table because it was “reserved” even though the table didn’t have a reserved sign. At the end we left because the cover man said we had to stand on our feet all night since it was just 2 of us and tables are for group of 6. First and last time at this place.

Came here when it was a jazz bar and loved it. I have come twice recently but no more jazz or blues😮‍💨. Dont get me wrong they do have a live band, but not jazz, not that many jazz bars to just come and enjoy some soulful music.😪

Theyre bringin swanky back yall - no joke! This is a great place for live late-night soul, funk, or jazz performances. They attract some great regional talent, and sometimes bands from the Big Easy.Its not a huge venue, but theres a decent size dance floor, plenty of room at the bar, and an adequate number of tables. Theres even a cool area on the side with those lounge style booths that you can relax in and watch the band. The bands start around 9:30ish. If you show up after the band starts, it might be tough to get a seat, but who needs to sit? You need to get up and move and groove to the awesome tunes played in this little joint.Theres a $10 cash only cover charge, but they do take credit cards for drinks and food.The sound system is perfect - no complaints about that.Parking - Ill be honest, parking is very limited. Youll probably end up parking on the street in the neighborhood behind it and you might even have to walk a couple of blocks, but its not that big of a deal.They have decent table service for drinks, but its quicker to go to the bar. The bartenders are very quick and attentive.They have a small kitchen with five or six choices of snacks.Youll love this place - TRUST me on this one. Get out there and get your swank on!

We had so much fun! Live music was so entertaining and got the crowd involved and dancing. Drinks were good and strong, especially the pineapple mule and honey mint julep. And the food truck out back had some delicious options 😋

Very nice place. They had live music when we went, we were there on a Friday around 10 pm, and it was really nice. The music was very loud though, so if you are looking to talk, this isnt it. The music they played after the band was done wasnt too danceable either, but it was at a good volume that we could hear each other talk. It has more of a relaxing vibe, which I can appreciate.

Ive First Fridayed with PM Soul here for many years, minus the Rona, and have always found the crowds to be a great mix of lifestyles, ages, and dancing abilities looking to let loose and let go!

Wonderful date night experience! Very chill vibes where the musicians get interactive with the crowd. Fun and lovely live tunes that you can experience inside and out, especially with the local sax player. Food truck service outside was awesome as well as the drink service. The bartenders surprised us and served our drinks to us outside instead of waiting inside at the bar, a definite plus 👍🏻

We thought this place was going to have jazz music yesterday but it had no jazz music they had Mexican music which I don’t mind but we thought we were going to hear jazz as also the music was like loud to where it was uncomfortable and mind you I like loud music they were playing music through speakers

Such a beautiful venue for what I understand cuz this is my first time here that theyve had a pretty aggressive renovation. The venue was set up very well the sound is amazing, the aesthetic and the whole 1950s Hawaiian Tiki theme is cute. I like whatever structure theyre using for Staffing for events like this because every waiter walked and worked every room in every table. The tabs and bar was centralized.

Use to love this place I wish I didnt have to give no stars me and my husband went like 6 mexico guy outside side 20 each on a Sunday was 9 oclock and yes I know they charge sometimes when u go inside $5 or 10 on Saturday but its a Sunday in the way they said it please .

Great place to get drinks, listen to lively music and dance! Its small and gets really crowded so come early if you want a seat. Theres typically an older crowd and everyone is friendly and just looking to have a good time. Dress for a nice night out. Tasteful dresses and heels wont feel out of place.

Omg where do I start , my fiancé and I visited this spot because we are always looking for great music. The staff was excellent and very attentive, the ambience was so cozy and pretty. We dance on the dance floor and had a great time. The people who were there made us feel so welcoming , the atmosphere made it feel like it doesn’t matter who you are or what you look like we are all here to have a good time and that’s exactly what we did. I would highly recommend visiting, the music was great too.As far as food , they serve snacks for if you are real hungry I would eat before coming.

Process for seating people is not good! People are saving seats, which leads others that have arrived early to stand! The Manager should come up with a process of seating guest for popular bands , instead of still allowing patrons in and there is NO seating available. We drove up from out of town arrived at 7:50 -people were already saving seats! We requested a refund and left by 810 We reported it to the Manager who appeared to be to busy to care. Club is very nice atmosphere is good other than a seating problem when doors open at 8 I would recommend

I like Luna because they have a live band on the weekends. The drinks were excellent and the service was great. They have a patio out back with a food truck which also lends itself as a quiet spot to get to know someone you may have just met. Its conveniently close to 410. My only knock against Luna is lack of adequate parking. Other than that I absolutely recommend and the love the place.

LOVE this place! Katie was our server, and she was phenomenal! Laid back cool atmosphere, funky bands, and great energy in the crowd. Dance floor and outdoor seating, plus a food truck. This is one of our new go to places.

This place gets a 4 Star just for its friendly bartender/wait people. They were friendly, helpful and so accommodating. Its could use some cleanliness but other than that it was an awesome place to hang out with friends and dance the night away!!!

Great lounge small and intimate place. Music is always good and variety of music from jazz to r&b love love every band that played there. Drinks is good and strong, service is wonderful due to their friendly staff. I would give it a 5 stars ⭐️ but I don’t like that there a fee to go in when we are going to pay for drinks 🍹 I wish they do something like minimum 2 drinks or something creative.

This place is so fun. The patrons are there to dance and listen to music and are also so cordial. The Bar tenders are VIP and the music is top notch. I wish I could come every week.Also the food truck is tasty.

I love this place and the talent it brings but I feel its outgrown the location. If you’re not there when the doors open at 8 tou may be standing to watch the band. Parking is also horrible. So, we get there no later than 8:30pm to insure a seat.

Out of respect for a 20 year support, Saturday night you should have announced the closing of the club and out of appreciation to your customers you should not had cover charges on the last night.I find the way that was handled very unappreciated.

Amazing music lounge open on the weekends with incredible talent every week. Service is attentive, clean restrooms, heavy hand on the drinks, great prices and a great ambiance. Some shows will be extremely packed and there will be nowhere to sit, which is rough. The BBQ truck in the back is fresh and DELICIOUS. Check this place out if youre a music lover!

It was my birthday and a group of us went we had a great time had a couple of drinks, had some great dancing, great life music, and afterwards ate epilepilepsy trucks perfect night when home still talking about it...😊

Went to Luna two nights for Swing music and for Jazz music. Both bands were great. Dance floor was small but we had so much fun. Cover was reasonable and even though we were from New York the waitress was so nice and friendly. She even remembered us the second night and gave us the best table. We had so much fun listening to great live band and dancing all night.

Went to this place with high hopes, upon entering the bouncer took 2 minutes checking our ids I guess not able to render simple math. After walking to our table not even 30 seconds after we received our ids back, a big torta came up to us saying they need to see my id again because I have a “baby face”. Sorry torta, I can actually take care of myself and don’t weigh 300 lbs.We left not even 2 minutes after that because the lady was staring at us and chirping with her birds.

Management is funny, replying to my review so quick. The 300lbs torta with fake blonde extensions needs to learn manners, and the girl up front checking I.D’s needs to learn how to count instead of chasing us down before we sit. Got my money back though with no hesitation though🙂 I was hoping maybe they would say something. Sorry to all if you’re coming to find a place with good vibes, you’ll be let down with unprofessional staff.

My first night back since covid started was very disappointing. I frequented Luna plenty of times because of the diversity of music played by the talent for the night. The show I saw last Friday for $15 should have been a show for a weekday. People want to dance to stuff they know and not to the promotion of an album that doesnt appeal to a diverse crowd. Friday nights are to unwind. Ended up going to another live band venue and heard familiar music and danced the night away for $10 and less expensive drinks.

Oh wow what a cool place. Very hip vibe. I hadnt been before and apparently since the pandemic quarantine they did an upgrade and renovations. It looks great. The staff is incredible! The drinks are amazing! The live music is unbeatable! Great great great place. We will be back and it is going into the date night rotation.

This place has been in SA forever but I had never been.I have to say. The ambiance is so awesome, we had a great time, great drinks, and great music. I highly recommend this place especially for a date night.There are also lots of opportunities for cute selfies and maybe a mini photo shoot while youre enjoying the music.

Had a spontaneous girls night here. Nice atmosphere and great band. Reasonable cover price, drinks were great (was referred a new drink and it’s now one of my new favorites) and enjoyed the Artichoke dip and pita chips. Restrooms were always clean. Over all I’d love to go back.

We went to Luna for date night, and the reviews and photos of the club did NOT disappoint! The vibe is so unique, its like you are walking into a 1970s club. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. It gets packed pretty quickly (we got there at 9 PM and managed to get the last couch) so I definitely recommend getting there as they open as every table was occupied. Drinks are a bit pricey ($24 for a cocktail) but they are very tasty. Luna also has an outside lounge in case you need to step outside, and they also have food trucks in case you get hungry. We will definitely be going back!

The patio area makes you feel like youre in your backyard plus its a screen outside to watch the band.. and they have a food truck on site! Their nachos are 🔥🔥!Great atmosphere, Music, and drinks makes Luna a great date night spot.

The best funky live music lounge ever. Everyone treats us so well. The bar food is always hot. The drinks always cold. The age range is from 21 up to 60s. Great bands are always scheduled. A classy place. Not for those that want a club atmosphere. A good date place.

This club has recently been remodeled and is very clean. The decorating is quite eclectic. They have a good bar but no food other than chips and queso (which is why I rated them 4 stars). The jazz band for Thursday night was very good. Friday and Saturday nights have different genres. I dont know if the bands or acts are regulars each week or if they change.

Atmosphere is laid back, older crowd 35+Dress code is dressy casual, not formal but neither flipflops. The bands are always great! Drinks are priced reasonably and there is a cover charge. When we went cover charge was $15/person, not expensive.

Wednesdays, Salsa band is excellent ! And I loved my Peach Mint Julep!

I always enjoy visiting Luna when Im in town. No matter what night of the week it is, theres guaranteed to be a great band, good drinks, and fun atmosphere. Typically a more mature crowd. The renovation has created way more space and a much more inviting atmosphere.

Simply wonderful music, ambiance, drinks, and dance floor. The wait staff was phenomenal , and patrons all were enjoying the night, as were the musicians. A must attend venue if youre looking for good-tasted night life in San Antonio

My husband and I hosted a private event here (vow renewal and reception) and it was incredible. The service was above and beyond and the perfect space for celebrating in style. Marcos, Pam, and the whole staff nailed it.

One of my favorite places for listening to live music & dancing. Check out the dirty river dixie band on the first Thursday of every month (after this COVID19 isolation is lifted). Try their food too! Drinks were amazing. Definitely more affordable than some of the other jazz clubs in town too.

Such a cool spot! Especially for San Antonio!! Anyone who lives here knows there’s not many places to brag about in town and I wish I knew about this place sooner because of it! There is usually a cover but the music is definitely worth it- plus they don’t charge an arm and a leg for drinks so that makes it worth it. I also think the cover charge keeps the “rif raf” out which makes the environment very inviting. Already planning our next night out there!

I have been here a few times with large groups of people. The bands are the same you will see at Jazz, Texas but with way cheaper cocktails, not a lot of fuss over reservations and a much more relaxed and authentic feel.

This may be the most underrated bar in San Antonio...and I even own a bar! Great live music! Food was okay, but not really what we went for anyway. Staff was friendly and VERY attentive! Ill be back for sure!

This place looks so shady on the outside but once you walked in it was so nice. The lady behind the bar was super nice and attentive to the crowd. King William jazz collective was playing and they were super talented. It was lively and just an overall good experience.

Enjoyed the relaxed feel of LUNA on a Thursday evening. The crowd was quiet while enjoying the live music. The Jazz may or may not be your preference but was well played. Cover charge at $5 was very reasonable to cover the overhead but bottle of beer for $4 seemed a bit high.

Didn’t like the way that they sneakily add the cover charge on your bill on your tab when you close your tab.and never let you know there was a cover charge most bars collect it at the door. Did not appreciate the talkback and rudeness of the manager to me as I addressed my concerns on these issues. She was extremely rude. Will not go back to a place who charges 15.00 cover when I can go listen to great bands for no cover or 5.00 which is reasonable

Been to this place twice now and disappointed twice. Last time was suppose to be soul music and it wasnt at all. Had a better time at Dads Karaoke singing with the other degenerates**update** went back for Valentines day twice now and the bands were really good.

Everyone that works there are very professional and nice and treat everyone with respect💯 they make the kids feel special😊 and the way they have it fixed up inside with the movie room🎥 and the PS4s🎮 are very convenient well the kids are waiting to get seen my kids love it there and I havent seen one kid that doesnt theyre great 👍

I went to Luna for the first time this past Saturday night with my boyfriend and we had a fantastic evening! The live band (The Keeshea Pratt Band) was so much fun and the atmosphere was cozy and romantic. My favorite part was the dancing! Many couples of all different skill levels got up to dance to the jazzy music. Even though were not great dancers, my boyfriend and I danced all night! I cant wait to go back!

I love this place for great live music. The staff is friendly and warm. The ambiance is cozy. Great for first, second and third dates or to just chill with friends and listen to good musix!!!!

The entertainment was superb! The admission price was higher than I thought and e everything else. A very enjoyable evening but I dont know if Id do it again.

Interesting place. The band wasnt bad, a bit different for my taste but enjoyable. I am a people watcher and I love watching people have a great time which was the case @ Luna. Would go again.

Club Luna has changed from what it was known for.Have visited this Club (several) times in the past few years.It was the R& B Jazz club to stop at each time I traveled to San Antonio.I went there on Sept 18th,2021. I travel 31/2 hrs from West Texas to San Antonio because of what this club had to offer. As for atmosphere and music which were I live at doesnt offer.It used to be a club where singles And couples could go there to really enjoy themselves.Its now like a lounge for couples only not a club and people dancing atmosphere. It used to have a Smooth cool groove to it .Not anymore, VERY DISAPPOINTED.Band playing was from Austin,Tx..They played the Same songs and told Same jokes that they did 3 yrs ago when I first saw them.And they charged $15 a person this time.3 yrs ago I paid $8 for the same exact show. Owner calls himself renovating club because of Vivid but I wonder.Why if you had a club with the high Reviews you had for several yrs,Why would you change it?? As saying goes if it aint broken why change it.Went from Cool R&B Settings inside to Mermaids??? Its just Not Club Luna Anymore. Its Luna lounge.Also get Bands in there that have updated their music from 3 years ago, was very bored to say the least.

We were pleasantly surprised on our first visit to Luna. The music and drinks were superb. Looking forward to our next visit. Really enjoyed the music by Johnny P and the Wiseguys.

There isnt enough room to tell you how much I love Luna. PM Soul is my #1 following there. The place has a great wide age range. From 25-65. Best group of people you could imagine being with. If youre an older adult that dont want to deal with a lounge full of wild adults, Lunas is your place. Very laid back. Great live music.

Salsa nights, Wednesday nights. My favorite. A place to enjoy by yourself, or with someone. Perfect for beginners at salsa dancing, and also for the pros. Cool band, great music. Great atmosphere.

I went to Luna last night and loved it! Very dim with pretty lighting, a lot of places to sit, nice staff, good drinks, fantastic live music. I will definitely be back.

Dont be fooled... While Luna looks a bit sketchy on the outside, it is a treasure of live music inside. Great drinks, tasty food (love love love the quesadillas) clean place and fun atmosphere. If you like live music, get to Luna.

Band stops playing at 12:30am??? What a let down. I arrived and no one in the bar after 12:30am. Decore needs an update. Wasted my Uber trip there from downtown San Antonio. Go early then go somewhere else would be best. Message for the owner:. Have the band band play til 2am. You will make a whole lot more revenue over the year.

Had a great time. Tyler Kinchen and the Right Pieces are an energetic band. Danced until my feet hurt! Also, the Louisiana food truck outside... the Gumbo was phenomenal!

I am a live music fan. Plus drinks were good priced. They even have free finger food. Good place to take a date or hang out with friends. Not much places where you can get authentic music nowadays.

Small intimate place, but very nice. Dont let outside fool you, its whats inside that counts. Energetic environment and some good funk music. I will definitely be back.

FANTASTIC EVENING! The Right Now Society performed and were On Point! I highly recommend checking out Luna and keep your eyes and ears open for RNS performances at other venues. I think they will be back at Lunas in late August. Very personable band mates! Stephanie, Nick, both Roberts ... Yall made my New York friends very happy.

This place has a great atmosphere and the sound is awesome. The drinks are really good and the food truck outside is also nice. Highly recommend.

First time there, it was awesome, it’s upbeat yet relaxed you have an older crowed but as you look around everyone is smiling and having a great time. Great vibes and atmosphere.

Favorite place to go for a night with your girlfriends who want to dance or date night with your SO. Everyone is welcome and has a good time here dancing and listening to great music. Highly recommend!!

Waitress was slow but then again it was very busy. Its a beautiful place! Reminds me of a 50s night club. Salsa night was very entertaining and fun.

A dark speak-easy with quality food, expertly mixed drinks and live music. I attended latin jazz night back in 2005 and have always wanted to go back and relive that time.

Luna is a great to go to hear really good jazz music on the first Friday of the month. It a popular place and can get congested to a point to where its standing room only.

No complaints about this bar what so ever...Never disappointed. The bar staff works hard, just that the location gets packed on the wkends and you have to wait on availability as ppl leave sometimes. Awesome otherwise...

This is a great place to listen to live salsa music and see some good salsa dancers show off. The bartenders were ok but I wished they were more friendly.
