Overall Experience: 2/5Hot Stones Massage: 0/5Prenatal Massage: 1/5Facials: 3/5Amenities: 3/51) Extremely disappointing massage! My wife & I usually get massages everywhere we travel, but this one has been one of the worst experiences. I do not feel even a teeny tiny bit relaxed after the massage. After requesting to give special attention on my lower back, she didn’t do anything. She barely even massaged the lower back, 80% focus was just upper back and which only included one technique of massage. Legs and hands were extremely disappointing, she just pressed them casually. A lot of the time, I felt like she was distracted and lost the flow and rhythm. I was soo disappointed even while I was being massaged, that I could barely enjoy. Very poor style of massage2) We were told that we would receive a 20% discount on spa services as we are staying at the hotel. Initially while paying for the services they forgot to add the discount, after I told them to add the discount - she only added 15% and charged my card. After I looked at the receipt and asked them to update it to 20%, I had to wait for over 20 minutes just for them to update the bill in the system.3) By default there is a 20% gratuity that’s charged. Shouldn’t gratuity be based on our experience of the service we receive? Why should I pay 20% gratuity for an average service.4) Clean & well maintained bathrooms, but only 1 shower. It wasn’t too crowded when I visited, so it didn’t affect me much.
We absolutely loved this hotel and spa! My husband and I had a couples massage for our anniversary and took advantage of the dry sauna afterwards! ***Do not leave until you try the sugar scrub and butter lotion! The service and staff were perfect and they even have great little masks to purchase!!! 💆♀️
Very disappointed at the spa, weve been longtime visitors of the hotel and we were very underwhelmed when we finally visited the spa here. Cramped and not very luxurious spaces. My massage left me incredibly tender the next day, it was very painful for a light massage, I didnt relax much during my session. Staff was very friendly though.
Honestly I left this place more stressed than when I came in.My girlfriend and I went to the spa for a couples massage. This was 400 dollars but I thought that since it was a special occasion it was worth it. The spa here is very tiny with few amenities and my girlfriend let me know that it’s usually never like that at all the other hotels we’ve stayed at. (This was my first and probably last time in a spa but she goes every time we stay at a hotel) The bathroom was nice but there was only one shower and it was occupied for what felt like an eternity so I couldn’t shower. Since I had a room in the hotel this was not a big deal for me personally. There were only two amenities a dry sauna and a wet sauna (my girlfriend says spas usually have a eucalyptus smell but these do not) as well as a relaxation room. The relaxion room was very small only being able to occupy 6 people, so as soon as a other couple came we began to feel very cramped. We got the massage and it felt okay, but nothing crazy amazing that would make me feel like a new person. I also noticed that even though we booked a 50 minute package, the masseuse grabbed the wrong papers so we didn’t start until later and finished early. Overall we only got 40 minutes instead of 50. When I booked the package it said we would be able to relax with a bottle of champagne and macarons afterwards but instead got water in plastic cups. I asked the receptionist about it and she gave us some Prosecco along with 2 small pieces of dark chocolate. What really made me feel upset is the service charge that they charge in the spa. It’s 20% which is not listed anywhere on the website. Supposedly they send out a email that states this upon booking, but I only received a email that stated the charges and cancellation policies. I showed this all to both the hotel staff and spa staff but was told that unfortunately the service charge is mandatory. I don’t have any problem with fees for a luxury service, but it shouldn’t be a surprise once I’m paying. If not listed on the website it should at least be in the booking email. I was told (very rudely) by spa staff that it is emailed, but I did not get any of that emailed to me. After speaking with both spa and hotel staff they refused to take the charge off stating that it’s a service charge and their policy.Overall this spa is very nice and I could see how it could be very relaxing if you’re the only one there. However if there is anyone else in the spa be prepared to feel very cramped and uncomfortable. Also know that there will be a 20% additional charge on top of your bill which Thompson does not state anywhere.
I didn’t want to leave a review here but i have also reached out to the hotel via email on 9/19/23 and no reply. I then called last week Thursday and the front desk receptionist said that she would have someone reach out to me by end of day that was on 9/27/23 and no reply. I booked massages and facials for my friend and I. We were both seen at 10:00am 9/19/23. I would like to start out by saying our services we did received was great from beginning to end. For a massage it was very loud you could hear the traffic below I know that’s not their fault but it wasn’t too relaxing. The front staff was very helpful and kind as well as our aesthetician and masseuse. I feel that we did not get all the amenities that were involved. Neither one of us have ever been there before, so we had no idea what was included and what not was included. Even after being walked around and shown the different rooms STILL…nothing. We found out from our aesthetician and masseuse. Upon booking these reservations over two weeks ago all I was told was that there was a changing room there for us showers to use and complementary drinks. Even on Friday when they called to make sure that we would still be attending our appointment. They still never mentioned everything that we were able to use. We showed up today feeling very unprepared. I paid $840 and we were not able to use the steam room, the pool area, or even the sauna, as we only had our underwear due to getting massages and facials that is a lot of money for services we didn’t get to enjoy. Had we have known or been told or some kind of an email even with an outline we would have been able to use everything else available.
The spa is conveniently located inside the hotel on the 3rd floor. When the elevators open, you already feel like youve started your spa experience. Staff was nice. Theres both a wet and dry sauna for you to use. My husband had purchased the experience as a surprise. I had the sleek and slim treatment. My skin was wonderfully soft after the exfoliation.
I have been to The Thompson spa a few times and have always had a great time. Most recently I had the 80 minute relaxation massage which was wonderful. What puts this spa above the rest is the amenities (lounge room, hot/ wet sauna, champagne and tea after the massage) and the service. I cant speak highly enough of the service, the staff truly made my experience the best. You also get access to the pool which is very nice.
For a frequent spa goer -The Thompson Spa was a disappointment and incredibly overpriced. The treatment was fine, but the amenities were subpar. The locker room was tiny, the steam room was not eucalyptus and rather lackluster, the relaxation room and wet areas were coed. I could hear the music from the pool party during my treatments. We were told we would get champagne as we were there for there for the birthday. I stated several times to bring it when the birthday girl was finished with her treatment, it came before with glasses filled at different levels. For the price, I would not recommend - Mokara Spa is much better.
My fiancé booked a service at the spa for us to enjoy while we stayed a couple nights for my birthday. He had a good experience booking our service and spoke with a lovely front desk lady named Taylor who helped him make sure there was a sweet note waiting for me on the massage table. We had a couples massage, the relax and recharge with hot stones. My technician was Shuyi and my fiancé had Eileen. This was the first time my fiancé had a professional massage and Eileen was very communicative with him, checked on him multiple times throughout the service to make sure he was doing okay. My goodness, this was definitely one of the best massages I ever had and my fiancé enjoyed his as well.
I booked the pedicure with the extra massage for my birthday as a special treat. I really enjoyed my experience and the nail technician did a great job on my feet. The reason its not a 5 star rating though is that I agreed to the nail polish that dries completely in 5 minutes and you can put your shoes on right away. Did the dry time, she checked it, said it was done, so I put my shoes on and left. But sadly when I got home I saw that the polish was ruined. Very disappointing since this is not a cheap pedicure by any means and the polish just looks bad now.
This is a very nice hotel spa, but very expensive and ultimately I didnt find anything about it that warranted such a high price tag, so Im leaving an average rating. My husband and I booked a couples massage and the massages were good, but not exceptional. There were two issues that bugged me. First, I booked a prenatal massage for myself and Ive never had a prenatal massage at a high-end spa that didnt have the special pregnancy belly cutout pillow. This was the most disappointing. I get a lot of massages during pregnancy and all the high-end spas offer this pillow so that I can still lay on my stomach and get the same quality massage as anyone else, but without the pillow, I am forced to lay on my side, and its just not the same. My second issue is that when you book an 80min massage, it should be a full 80min, but ours was 70min. They picked us up and took us to the room at 1:30, talked about the aromatherapy options, talked about what we were looking for in a massage, and left for us to change, all of which took at least 10min, then the massage ended at 2:50 on the dot, so a total of 70min of massage time. I think it should be disclosed when booking that you wont be getting the full time. So all in all we paid $480+20% automatic tip for two 70min massages that also didnt have a pregnancy pillow. I would call that an average (or even below) experience for the price.
A-amzing experience! We were able to take advantage of the whole spa area. We were served champagne and free macaroons that were made from the restaurant on the 1st floor. We sat in the eucalyptus steam room before our appointments, were able to pick our essential oils for aromatherapy within our appointments, and we given time to relax between services vs being rushed. The facials were completed in 5 steps and included neck and shoulder stretch and massage as well. Then we had full body swedish massages and were able to choose the pressure and/or which areas we wanted greater focas. Each specialist took time to hear what may cause the most tension from a brief description of what we do, how much stress we were under, or past injuries. Lastly we were free to sit in the sauna and steam room after all services for as long as we would like and had free access to the pool area. I highly recommend. Facilities were clean and all of staff was friendly, courteous and professional, from our arrival to departure, throughout the facilities. I would say this was one of the best spa experiences I have had. 💙
Took advantage of the couples massage while staying at the hotel, and had a wonderful experience. We were very pampered.
Nikki gave me the best massage ever!! I felt like she put her heart and soul into it. Highly recommend!
Best massage I have had in awhile.
Got the eyebrow wax from the spa.The glabella is over waxed. Both eyebrows are uneven.
