What a time to be alive. Great bar, great DJ, great way to spend an evening.Danced until like 1am and then was dead tired after being there for 3 hours. Arrived around 10pm and was a $10/pp cover which wasn’t bad at all given the DJ and the amount of time we spent dancing in the crowd. Great for large groups and friends
Nobody got mad at me or made fun of me for my horrible line dancing skills! It was my first time and I tried to get it, but the dances are actually pretty complicated and very fast paced. Not to mention literally every song has a different dance so that makes it entertaining. They also give you food tokens when you pay the $10 to enter. How cool is that?! You get two for Free: burrito, quesadilla, hot dog, chips. Nothing crazy good but they totally don’t have to do that but they do! Our party had a great time and we will be back for sure!
Not only is Moonshine beach a super fun atmosphere, but the staff is incredible! I left my wallet at Moonshine on a Saturday night. Even though they were closed on Sunday and Monday, Christina who runs their instagram promptly responded to me. I was able to get my wallet right before my flight thanks to her! I will definitely be coming back again and again!
Moonshine Beach is a fun place to hang out. There are three areas: an indoor lounge with karaoke, a huge dance floor, and an outdoor area with TVs and outdoor games. Usually there is a cover charge (it was $10 when I went) and long lines late at night and on weekends. The bar/club is more of a country kick than the others. As far as the dance floor, not sure if the cover was worth it (usually I come to these bars to dance). I though it was a little too crowded. Theres no capacity there; it was to the point where I was constantly being bumped and shoved around. It was almost like a hard rock concert. The play similar music to other clubs. At 1am they play trap/dubstep remixes of popular songs and everyone raves. I found it to be more fun out of the tight crowd, where I could actually move. Five 🌟s for the great vibes.
Good drinks and a fun atmosphere. However, the dance floor was ridiculously crowded for a Tuesday night because of the line dance lessons. Additionally, the dances were not explained clearly in my opinion.
I went in a saturday night and had my real ID taken by the bouncer. They were incredibly disrespectful and inconsiderate when I tried to prove it was a real ID. I had to get police involvement to get my ID back.
Top 5 Coolest SD venues to go and perform at!! I havent been to Nashville yet, but I feel like I have now. Moonshine Beach in Pacific Beach was incredible. Every inch of the place made me feel more country.Lets start with the games. Outside is a big open patio with 2 bars and tables to eat or drink at. They have the biggest and best selection of FREE games to play Ive ever witnessed. My band and I played them all!!! ( Of course I won most of them 😆) They have cornhole, ping pong, giant connect four, foosball, and more. Inside they have a few paid games too, which we also had a blast with. They even have a mechanical Bull!!!!Next up the FOOD!! Ya, they nailed it here. Just look at the pics. I got the vegetarian option of course which was the fried and smoked Portobello mushroom burger stuffed with mozzarella (DAYUM!!), the guys got a variety of brisket french fry nachos, pulled pork sandwhich, and roast beef sub. Everyone was more than pleased with their meal! There was alot of other tempting options on the menu like jalapeno poppers, salads, flatbread pizzas and more.Im big on customer service, especially when I perform at a venue. The security team was similar to an NFL defensive line, so dont come here looking for trouble. They guys were all cool tho with no ego or power trippin. The bartenders were on it! Fast and accurate service, with a smile. I have a girlfriend so I didnt notice if they were attractive or not... youll just have to see for yourself. The sound and lighting team/stage crew were top notch!Which brings me to the venue as a whole for live music. This place was AWESOME to play at. The stage was huge, and they had a riser on the stage for the drummer (me). The light show was epic, and they even had a nice Yamaha house kit which is always a treat. (This means I didnt have to haul my gear). Behind us was a huge screen with our bands name in lights, and of course they sealed the deal with fog! The dancefloor fits a couple hundred people, and sits underneath a skull and disco ball. There is a bar in the stage room and plenty of seating to watch the show from too. The green room was better than most with its own bathroom and couches for pre/after show prep. (This is the backstage area for bands). The vibe of Moonshine was great. It is a legit country bar that is expanding its horizens to being a bit more versitle. I will definatly be going back, and will also happily play the venue again. The last thing I always like to address is parking. Not too shabby! I found several spots right away. Most are 2 hour spots until 6pm, so thats good for evenings. There are lots as well, and neighborhood spots a block over. If you are going to drink, please take an uber or lyft, or bike. There are plenty in this area 🤙
A large assortment of entertainment. The entrance is sort of deceiving like a small bar with a karaoke stage, a few games and not much else. The open air bar is nice but can be really cold and wet when raining.Head towards the bar and through a plastic sheet like wall to a huge hidden country themed night club. Line dancers, professional line dancers in the crowd to keep the dancing going, line dancing group lessons, multiple bars, games, and a big stage. They mix up the music from country line, to hip hop, even a bit of rock and roll and the professional dancers (male and female) really keep the energy high.Regardless of the experience you want from high energy dancing, drunken singing, arcade, party games, chill spot to people watch, or something more thos place seems to have what your looking for.
Great time. Went with party of 12 and had time of our lives. Mix of Country and EDM. DJ was dope even threw in some HipHop
My buddy and I drive from Huntington Beach down there every Tuesday night for their line dances and we are never let down. Very friendly staff and girls that help you learn the dances if you don’t know how! Great crowd every Tuesday, and I think on other night they have live bands that come out and play. But for college people / young adults, come out Tuesday night to have fun for an hour or two. There is a neighborhood filled with parking just behind it. And they offer karaoke right before you enter into the stage! I’ll be there tonight with my buddy and you should too! FREE ADMISSION!
Does anyone actually work at this place? my husband and I have been calling for 2 weeks trying to reserve a private event for our friends coming into town and no one has answered the phone once. I’ve tried calling several times during business hours and emailing the contact email on the website….
The live country music was great, as was the DJ, but after the live music ended I was a bit disappointed that there wasnt more country music. It was more EDM type music. However, this place is great, has plenty of room to dance, and I loved the outdoor area. Super chill! I will for sure come back!
The most rude bouncers ever, specifically the taller bouncer, talking about girls in the line as they were queuing in misogynistic ways
We were very sober, very respectful.(The bouncer was respectful and sympathetic as well). We were told that my 31 year old German guest could not come into the bar due to strict liquor license laws.He had 2 different forms of ID with credit cards to verify the match. This is seemingly the only bar that requires a passport?Every other bar in San Diego accepts one of his 2 forms of ID.We politely asked to speak with the manager. The manager shrugged us off with the “rules are rules” speech.Common sense brother. The passport is the LAST THING someone from another country would ever want to be carrying around in person, especially in PB or OB.If that gets stolen or lost, you (the foreign traveler) can’t go back home.Bars like this are the reason America is where it’s at right now. If the law doesn’t make sense , do the 20 min of additional paperwork to find the work around.I understand that we have idiotic rules for the idiotic people this bar definitely has to deal with on a nightly bases, but there needs to be exemptions for the people who are doing the right thing but are outliers to the standard status quo.The bouncer: 10/10 (nice, admitted to the stupid rule)The manager: 4/10 (passive, didn’t care. Seemed annoyed we’d even bother asking .)
Belem Garcia (restroom attendant) was absolutely amazing and the ONLY reason why I will come back.
Victor at the front door kicked us out for nothing at all. Says “you guys are so chill. I got you next time.” Thanks, Victor! You’re really awesomeUpdate June 18, 2022:Victor still sucksUpdate July 03, 2023:I’m starting to dislike all Victors because of that guyUpdate June 19, 2024:I am currently in a foreign country where Victor is not a common name so I have less chances of running into one.
Line dancing lessons are false. The lessons are just the employees showing off with vegue instructions during the dance in the beginning, and thats it. Plus, the drinks were awful, but they charged through the nose. Not to mention, little to no country was played. Overall, its just a horrible experience.
Great morning watching the 49ers with lots of fans!!! Great service!!Wife and I , from Idaho, loved watching the game there. Cant wait to come back some day for another niners game!!!
Some wanna be 0331 pog marines(security) are very aggressive and just stare at the girls all night kinda creepy
I came to celebrate my birthday with my friends, everyone came in except me. The security guards were VERY rude to me, I had never been treated so badly. I didnt understand the reason for so much ignorance. All my friends came in and except me, I said that they could check the camera, that I was in line with my friends, but they are VERY rude and didnt care.. I really think people have to be more human. I dont recommend it to anyone. Worst decision to celebrate my birthday
Ive been there twice the second time most recently I brought my sister and brother-in-law we had the best time created some great memories there with our 49er fan family. We love watching the games everyone there is always in such a great mood service is excellent, atmosphere is amazing and I love their drink specials!!! Keep them coming because well be there.
If you like country music and dancing this is the one of the best places in PB to go to IMO unless you go out to east county. You can be rowdy but if you get disrespectful you will be promptly asked to leave. Drinks are below avg but you get free munchies so it levels. Give them a try!
VERY RUDE PEOPLE, VERY RUDE PEOPLE. I came on my sisters birthday to celebrate and the security guards treated us very badly! I dont recommend it to anyone! I had already heard this, but it had never happened to me.. now I really say, dont go to this place. They dont care about you. VERY RUDE.
RACIST ENTRY POLICY. Was disgusted upon arrival here by a recommendation from a friend who is also Irish to be told by the doorman that they will not allow Irish people in, and to speak to his manager. When I spoke to the manager he said that a few weeks previous some Irish people who were underage had gotten in using Irish IDs that were not theres. Enacting a discriminatory policy because your security cannot do their job is unacceptable .In 2023 to be refusing admission based on nationality is a disgrace and I would highly recommend that anyone who is heading for a night out in Pacific Beach to go elsewhere
I personally have it 4 stars because I expected some country music. Apparently, on weekends after 11pm it turns into more of a night club than a country bar. If you are looking for a location to dance to edm, I would give it 5 stars. Thats not what I consider fun personally.
Totally discriminated due to my nationally due to an incident previous nights before. Myself and my group who had never been to this bar before were denied access by the security due to us holding Irish passports who then referred us to the manager of the bar who clarified that due to being Irish however still over the age required to enter the premise was still not welcome due to being Irish.
They wouldn’t let myself and my friends in because we were Irish. Apparently someone had used a fake Irish ID to get in the weekend. Surely there is a better alternative other than not letting someone in due to their nationality especially since we had visited this bar multiple time previous to this.
Would put 0 stars if I could. Was 100% harassed but the bouncers and security getting into this place. They AGGRESSIVELY questioned all of my friends before letting us in. I get that they don’t want to let ‘bad’ people in but there’s a nicer way to ensure that. Also a $20 cover charge and expensive drinks. Plenty of other awesome places in PB to spend your time. Will not return.
Xenophobic. Myself and a few friends tried going to Moonshine tonight and were denied entrance because we held Irish passports. When asking if we held another nationalities passport would be be allowed enter we were told yes. The owner explained how a couple weeks ago, a few underage Irish people gained entrance into Moonshine through the use of a single passport. It sounds like they now do not allow Irish people to enter as their security cannot do their jobs correctly.
Great place. The establishment is split into 3 parts of different sizes. The smallest is a bar with karaoke, next is a relaxed area thats best for taking to people, and the latest area is a straight up club. Excellent place all around no matter what youre looking for. Great place for a group of friends with slightly different tastes. Youll find me rotating through all three areas throughout the night.
This place is just awesome. Nice Southern Vibes and live music.Lines can get long and there are cover charges for certain events and after certain times but worth checking out!
Bartender was hella cool, I’ll come back just for her hahaha - cover charge for a concert which I didn’t mind, wish they had a “legit” smoking area tho.. that smoke free garden that they have is kinda empty and cold if you wanna talk business..
***BEWARE WHEN PAYING COVER*** moonshine beach but I felt very taken advantage of by them Friday night and felt the need to warn others. As I go to pay cover with my card, I noticed that the worker changed the tip amount to 25%. A 25% tip for just paying cover?!? This girl working probably thought she could get away with that because everyone’s drunk and not paying attention but Thankfully I wasn’t very intoxicated and noticed it right away, but it madeMe think how many other people didn’t notice it and paid without checking?! It really disappoints me that this establishment or the girl working, would do this. I love this place but it makes me hesitant to keep going back.
So I went there to see my friends band who I used to book a shows and he told me that he could put us on the list and we were with the graphic artist as well. The door people wouldnt let us be on the list we showed up 10 minutes after 4:00 and so they needed $10 from us to get in. It was 12 to $25 per drink for the beers and shots that we were ordering. Ended up spending over $400 myself just for an evening out to see my friend. Anyways the venue is cool on the backyard patio so thats why I gave it three stars. The sound was great. The waitress didnt even know what jagermeister was.
I went to celebrate my friends birthday and Ive never seen such rude people. I dont recommend it. It was supposed to be a nice day but we were treated very badly. Sad.
This bar will not allow entry with a military ID due to the fact that it doesnt explicitly portray physical description of the ID holder. It is clearly stated in California State law that a military ID is acceptable for bar entry and alcohol sales regardless of the lack of physical description. I understand the bar can choose not to accept the form of ID on their own end but I believe theyre wrong and disrespectful to make that decision.
Came here for a concert…no chairs anywhere. We were expected to just stand the whole time! If it weren’t for my love for David Nail I would be out of here. Won’t be back!
Lots of space for multiple bar activities including Cornhole, karaoke, line dancing and live music. You have to pay a cover to get in even at like 7 pm on a Saturday though... If youre looking for a more country feel in PB highly recommend. Minus a star for a five dollar cover so early in the night.
I wish i could give this negative stars. ive never been so disgusted by the policies of such a well known establishment. we queued up in line for about 30 minutes last night and when we finally got to the bouncers they told us that they wont accept our IDs because we are Irish. No Irish allowed? in 2022? deplorable display of anti irish sentiment. not only this, but the bouncers on the door tried to lie about the reason for not letting us in. we cant accept irish passports as a valid form of ID okay we can give you our licenses or age cards then? sorry passports are the only accepted form of international IDat least own up to the discrimination!!we are here for one week in san diego and this place has given us a horrendous view of the area. Management should be ashamed of themselves.
Extremely unprofessional bouncer, refused to recognize a valid military ID even with second forms. Had no respect for service members and laughed when we questioned them. Preach an American/country bar but staff seems to not have any values. Would not recommend.
Not allowed in with a valid Irish passport after queuing for 30 minutes. Surely right to refuse service does not extend to nationality. First night out in San Diego and denied entry as I don’t have a North American passport? A shameful and discriminatory policy. Management and staff offered contradictory and weak explanations for something that is blatant discrimination. Not good enough absolutely shameful in 2022 to be refused entry due to my nationality. This establishment is an absolute disgrace.
Great bar! Staff is fun. The bar has several bar games on the outside patio and the dance floor has two bars around it and is full of people who like to dance. Bring a bandana. All ages (over 21) are present. I will definitely be back.
Arrived at moonshine bar yesterday to be told by the bouncers that they don’t accept valid in date irish passports. This makes no sense as I have been to many other bars and clubs around California and this has never been a problem. When we offered our other forms of identification we were told that it had to be a North American identification card. This is nothing short of discrimination as we have no way of obtaining these cards. Very ashamed and disappointed in this establishment and would tell people to steer clear of this place
Really nice club/bar.There are loads of games around the bar area including ping pong, a few sets of connect 4, a balancing game and beer pong. These really add to the night and provide a tonne of entertainment. The drinks were reasonably priced and some come in a novelty bucket which is pretty neat. The dance floor and club area is a large open space, with decent lights and music.Only slight downside is there is only two small bathrooms for men, meaning youve to cue for a little bit sometimes.
Its an okay venue. Most of the bartenders and security are nice. I wouldnt recommend it for a sold out concert. I couldnt even make it to the bathroom without stepping on people and inappropriately brushing up against them (full contact kind of squeezing by). Additionly, the dance floor seems to be strictly for line dancing, so if you plan on couple dancing there might not be enough room.
Country bars might not just be my scene. It was pretty empty for a Saturday night and all the waitresses were on the dance floor to help make it look busy. It was just line dancing for every song. But outside they have karaoke and a few drinking games, which are fun to mix it up. I probably wouldnt go again though unless my friends really wanted to go.
Fun venue, they have live music and bands come in to play. Lots of games and different areas to sit. Big dance floor. I prefer going on Tuesday’s for line dancing & two-stepping. The weekends are more “clubby” and it gets pretty packed inside on the dance floor, but it’s still a good time :)
Waited in line for almost an hour just to get turned away at the door because they dont accept valid American military IDs. I usually only carry my military ID with me, and have never been denied anywhere before, including previous visits to this bar. Several of my friends faced the exact same issue along with me.
Great music and line dancing.. Watch your drink because the security throw them away even when they are not empty.
Great Atmosphere, larger than expected, great drink specials. Our bartender Kelly was amazing. She was attentive to each guest even though it was super busy with the football game she still took care of everyone.
Overprice a shot of cheap vodka is for $12. rude bar partenders especially the girls. I asked her for how much is the Long Island and she told me don’t ask you waste my time and called security on me🤷🏻♂️also I think she took my wallet
My new neighbors were regulars at InCahoots for years. Now that its closed, they are looking for a new place to line dance. We decided to check on Moonshine Beach since thats where a lot of their friends were going to go as well.We went on a Friday night around 8 PM. Since its PB, we were a little nervous about finding parking, but found a spot about 3 blocks away on Grand Ave. We probably could have parked closer, but it wasnt too far of a walk. There was no cover when we got there and the place was pretty much empty, but quickly filled up by 10 PM, which is when we left. Upon our departure, we saw a line and assumed there was a cover, but since were old people, we were happy to leave early. The dance floor was empty when we arrived other than the two dancers that lead the line dances. They are happy to point the direction to go and are very clean on their steps, so its pretty easy to follow. Not wanting to waste time, we decided to get out on the dance floor pretty early and had a great time learning some new dances. Some of the dances were pretty difficult. Just a disclaimer - I am absolutely new to line dancing, so I couldnt tell you the difference between all the dances, but they do have a giant screen behind the stage that tells you what dance goes with the song. About an hour in, the songs started to become more club dances instead of country music, and then the live band started, which really killed the dancing vibe. There was only one couples dance in the middle of everything. As far as the lessons go, they do really easy dances and teach you the steps really fast, so dont expect to learn anything complicated. Im not sure if thats just a Friday night thing. The first lesson was okay since the dance floor was only partially full, but by the second lesson, the dance floor was packed and everyone was drunk and running into each other. The dance floor is a nice wooden floor, but it is much more slippery than the one at InCahoots. You are allowed to bring your drink with you out on the dance floor, but all the liquid makes the dance floor that much more slippery. I had a lot of fun sliding around, but I can see where more serious dancers wouldnt like this.I liked the bar here - the tequila shots were super cheap, $3 each, and water is free! I think thats super reasonable pricing. However, since youre allowed to bring your drinks with you and dance, I feel more comfortable ordering a normal drink to sip on. We usually get shots because we dont trust leaving our drinks on the table while dancing. The bartenders were all super nice too.Overall, Moonshine Beach was A-OK in my book. Im a little old to go out clubbing, so while I really enjoyed the line dancing at the beginning, it really became your typical PB bar/club by the time we left. My neighbors had the same impression and werent sure if an hour of good dancing was worth the drive down to PB.
Super fun place to go for line dancing. Tuesday is the best night if youre going for the dancing aspect. The dance floor is big but almost always packed. There are games when you first walk in which makes this place an all around entertaining bar!
The bouncer LT let 6 girls with fake IDs in because one guy gave him cash, and then he denied another bc he wasnt paid. He called the cops to try to set an example. Please look into him because there seems to be a lot of business done by his side that no one knows about.
Great choices of music. Love that they have live bands every so often. I don’t know if they advertise their line dance lessons before the band comes on. It does tend to get VERY hot on the dance floor because of all the body heat BUT they have giant fans so that’s my go to spot to hang out.
Been here 3 times and they played the same exact playlist each night. Don’t come here unless you wanna spend the worse $20 of your life.
My favorite bar in PB. On a typical Friday or Saturday night you can expect:3$ drinks before 9.A 5$ cover starting at 9Line dancing from 8-10 or 10:30 with a few easy lessons mixed in.Live music from 10:30-12Then a DJ will play until 2 and he/she will play all kinds of different music to dance to.Tuesdays there are more lessons and more serious line dancing and partner dancing with great tacos on the cheap.I love this bar, its my kinda place...
Appears to be exclusive to North Americans only! Refused entry at the door due to an incident involving fraudulent passports from a few weeks ago which we had nothing to do with! Definitely wouldn’t recommend
One of the top highlights of a recent trip to SD. great mix of country and club in the back room, looked pretty entertaining with games during the day. decent cover charge. If im in the area, will absolutely visit again
Beware! I had just arrived to bar and was very sober. The bouncer comes up and tells me and my 3 friends we are too drunk and he needs to see us outside. We were rushed outside. Then he says ah never mind you can go back in. We go back in our phones and wallets are gone. The bouncer is on this and we have filed a police report!Watch out if you get rushed/escorted outside because you are too drunk!
Its good for what it is. Low cover, inexpensive drinks. Im not one for country bars (I went for my counsins birthday), buy I had a good time. The dancefloor was kind of loud, so we went out in the patio and had a good time
Check your bank statement, they illegally change the tip on the receipt. Happened to me and my friends numerous times, not a coincidence at that point and sadly dont trust them so wont be returning ):
Typical PB bar. During the day only the outdoor section is available. On the nights and weekends they open up the back section indoors, much bigger and great live music. Its a country bar so expect that type of music. Food is decent, its generally Mexican, they dont really venture outside of that. Best deal is the Cerveza Buena, 2 for $6.
The concert venue was fun with Dylan Schneider. You guys know how to pack a crowd in for sure. Its my second time visiting MB, so Im not aware of any drink specials for the evening. I did order two mixed drinks that cost close to $20.
Great bar on the weekends! Good music with a big dance area. Many different areas to go as well. Its like being in multiple bars all in one spot.
Background on me, I am a San Diego born and raised local who is a 23 year old masters student that enjoys going out to PB on the weekends.Moonshine is very Yeehaw between 8:00PM-:30/10:00PM. Its not my vibe. However, after YeeHaw hours it get LIT. The music and lights are insane. It gets very House/EDM/Throwbacks club scene and that is the Moonshine I LIVE FOR. I am continuously impressed by the music and environment after 10:00PM. The line also goes fast even though it looks like it is wrapping around the corner. For those not interested in that scene, between 8:00pm-10:00pm you can enjoy country music at the large stage area in the back, karaoke in the front, Fooseball, an outside lounging area with cool fire places. It is chill and nice. However, there are some things I do not like about Moonshine.1) The Yeehaw crowd that stays for the club scene is... how do I say this, a bunch of spatially unaware, rather rude and intoxicated bunch that seems to not know the words excuse me. Even the young women act as if it is okay to push through people. So, not a huge fan of that...2) My girlfriends are sometimes... taken back and disgusted, although unfortunately not surprised, by the crude, straightforward, and untasteful comments that the men at Moonshine make at them... I have heard some pretty shocking comments made toward them. Is this part of the Yeehaw factor? Maybe? Idk.3) The floors are basically soaking wet because of the spatially unaware Yeehawers holding drinks as they push through crowds of people who are also holding drinksOverall, HUGE fan of moonshine and some of the negatives I am describing are a product of having a club/bar, and are not really the businesss fault. I am just a reviewer giving you honest feedback of what I have observed in the 10+ times going there. But hey, me and all my friends are still going this weekend so check it out!
Just go to Maverick’s down the roads. Lost driver license, tried to use military ID (not dependent) and was told no because my height and weight aren’t on it. They wouldn’t accept scanned copies of my current license, old license, or passport all showing the exact same height and weight, but they would accept an expired ID.There was also a $15 cover, even though it was dead, which is always dumb.
This place was so cute. At first I thought it was a college vibe but getting deep inside I saw a lot of talented dancers. The country vibe proliferated through the crowd and a lot of line dancing could be spotted throughout. Im looking forward to going back again with more friends and relatives given the chance.
Well, its a fun atmosphere, and they do a good job with the dancers sprinkled throughout the dance floor that help give you an idea of how a proper dance looks like for a given song... but in the end its PB, and the dance floor gets insanely crowded with wasted twenty-somethings who can barely walk, let alone dance.
Moonshine Beach is a college bar that wants to pretend its a country bar. They allow drinks on the dance floor, which is of course very dangerous at a place that has line dancing and two-stepping. The place is extremely crowded all around the dance floor. Its in a great location, with a ton of other bars and restaurants around.Personally, I would like to see them move the DJ booth into the back of the room and expand the dance floor. As it stands right now you could a lot of people running into you on the dance floor. If youre looking for a place that puts a greater emphasis on dancing, check out The Stampede in Temecula.
Disappointed in Moonshine Beach, I love Moonshine Flats, so I was really looking forward to liking this place. The line dancing instruction time consisted of ~3 songs, comparatively to MF, which is an hour of instruction. The staff seemed more concerned with hugging each other & showing off to each other, rather than being helpful to instruct more novice dancers. Many/most of the songs that they played before the band came on were R&B or Pop (which I like, but when at a country bar wanting to line dance...). The bartending staff were friendly & helpful. Sherylynn was especially great, at the bar outside. The food was good too. But unfortunately I wont be going back. Im sticking with Moonshine Flats.
If you are looking for a country bar, this is NOT the place. The line dancing lessons do not happen as advertised (from 8-10 or 7-10). They only taught ONE dance at about 9:15 that lasted for about 5 minutes. Such a disappointment. Im heading to the Renegade in El Cajon - the only real country bar in San Diego.
Nice place. Drinks are good/average. Bar staff was a bit slow and a little rude. Live band was great. VERY LOUD. Bring ear plugs. Outdoor was spacious and nice.
Moonshine was highly recommended by a friend of mine, but my friends and I were denied entrance since we did not have US identification because we are on vacation. Would probably leave 0 stars since the racial profiling was so unpleasant, but thats not an option. Looks like a fun place though.
Went for line dancing. Wouldnt accept a military ID for enterance. By the time we got in there was no dancing and it had turned into younger crowds scene. Not really a country bar.
Just questioning why I was told that an in date european passport was not a valid form of ID last night, And why the entire population of ireland is banned from moonshine, seems like a strange policy. Just wondering about the legality of this all.
Security doesn’t let you in if you have any form of bag or any item whatsoever in your hands. Had to go back to the car twice. Lame 🤷♂️
Left after 15 min. Arrived @10:30. Dj? Doesnt exist. Sound quality is horrible. Dirty bar stand with soaked towels everywhere. Dirty bathroom. Will probably work if you are completely drunk.
I moved to Encinitas recently. I was a regular at a Country Linedancing bar in Aurora, Illinois... It was my Happy Place, where I joined 350+ other people on the dancefloor, every week: name of that place is SaddleUp Saloon and Dancehall! GO THERE, if youre ever in the Chicagoland area. You wont be disappointed. As for Moonshine Beach, it is a GREAT 2nd Happy Place for me! The whole staff, Security/Bar/Instructors/DJ/dancers, are good people. I felt welcomed, even tho Im sure I was the ONLY over-50 person there. I dont mind, and nobody else seemed to care, either. Thank you, guys!!The dancefloor is big, the music is great, the instructors are fun, the drinks are great. Im there to RE-learn old favorite dances, and all the ones they dont do in Chicago. ;) The live music is also kool. Ive seen quite a few very talented bands!Im telling all my new friends to join me, and its gonna get pretty crowded at our table!
My brother in law is in the Navy. They wouldn’t accept his military ID even though other bars do. All that to say, not the most military friendly spot.
If you are Caucasian, from the mid west and or south, have a craving for country and find that classic Miley Cyrus was her golden age, then this place is for you. Fire cinnamon Whiskey, beer, spinning barber chairs, a live stage, karaoke and other attractions, there is quite a bit to be entertained by. Only draw back is the steep cover charges and the feeling that I dont belong as the place seems to attract too many bros.
Cool bar, they have legit line dancing in the back once it hits that time of night. Super energetic. The bartender did charge me for someone elses drink though so make sure to pay attention to those receipts.
Great place overall. I just wish they would play more actual country music to match the theme they chose
This place is awesome. Love the line dancing and the live magic is so cool. Big fan, great to bring friends here.
Low rating because its more of a club than a country bar. Lots of line dancing hardly( if any) couples dancing. If youre looking for a place with a true country vibe look elsewhere
Me and 3 of my friends were denied entry with BOTH an Irish passport and Irish driver license purely because they weren’t northern American. Putting their security in difficult situations as this is discrimination and blatant racism.
Fun so fun ....dont forget to get ya food tokens!!! Ask for em and tip the lady that makes ya doggg!!! 😉 ❤️🧡
45 minutes standing in line the buy a drink only 1 bar tender working for 49er game burger fries took an hour arrived stone cold. Horrible management 🤬
Corn husker games, Jegna, connect 4, foosball, some arcade games. Enjoyable for an evening, didnt see any country music, but all in all was a pleasant evening. No charge for any of the games and no cover so works out it youre in Pacific Beach with some time
Where do I start?. First off the establishment is not bad which is why Im giving it a 2 stars, however I could NOT deal with the service. The waitress touches her hair too much and then serves the garnish with bare dirty hands. Our friend asked for a brb and she spills half the liqour. Also she served us a Jack and coke, which was jack and water (apparently they ran out of coke) and when we ask her to fix it she charges us for the new jack and coke because she didnt mess it up. Although she saw it was Jack and water when she made it to us, she still served it to us. And when I tell her about it, she catches an attitude. Needless to say, I wont come back unless they get someone who 1. does not put her dirty hands IN the drinks (yes after touching her hair she stuck her fingers INSIDE the glass) and someone who will be more professional.
Good place, plenty of beers on tap and dancing.Master cornhole as you drink a Shiner Bock and you will feel right at home. Bonus points if you have enough self respect to wear a Stetson. This Trifecta will allow you to transcend into a god among men.
Your bouncer jay was very rude, tried telling me my military id wasn’t good enough even though it matches every other form I had and it states I am 25 and he said he doesn’t support our military!!! Very disgusted with his attitude! Very unamerican bar! California for you I guess
Super long line that barely moves, maybe because of memorial weekend and post Covid idk.$10 cover charge. Music is cool, gets into EDM later on. Very spacious
Came for Drake Whites concert. The atmosphere was awesome. They offer dance lessons to get everyone involved. Drinks are reasonably priced.
I hate the fact that there is a cover, but overall, this place is pretty lit. I like that there are lot of games inside, the music is pretty good for dancing at night and they usually will do 2 dollar tequila at some point in the night.
Was standing in line to go inside to my party, and some guy pushed me, so I wasnt allowed inside. This is one of my favorite bars atmosphere-wise, but the management doesnt really care about keeping its customers.
Love the live music, but the bar space away from the main concert area is a bit small. People playing bags and shuffle board right in the middle of the bar’s primary walkway is also kind of obtrusive to me.
Weak pour, came early for Frankie Ballard to score a table, zero table service unless you ciunt the security guys picking up empties, loud rock music most of the night. Really caters to early 20s crowd

Cool place, great atmosphere! Definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in line dancing/2 step. Bring boots to have added fun
Only went for live music and the venue is great. Big space great stage lighting on point. Wonderful concert!
The best place to go if you got a diverse people as friends. A karaoke bar/bar with games/club within a building is an awesome concept to have and they did that. Cant go through PB without going through here 😅
The bouncer only permitted American citizens to enter. I was not expecting discrimination.
Great bar and fun atmosphere. You gotta try the shot/spinny chair only $3 and very fun. The music is usually really good.
Could be the only bar left in SD and I’d still live there. They let you play basketball on the outside turf as long as you keep your shirts on and the back left corner bar by the stage is bussin’. We’re back this February 👀
Lots of fun, and plenty of room to dance most of the night. Just be careful doing any real line dances once it gets crowded, you might kick someone.
$10 cover on Friday night? Are they kidding? There’s 12 other bars within a few blocks. No thanks. Who do they think they are? Very unPB-like.
If your military dont go here. Discriminates against military. Doesnt accept military ID as a form of ID however, effective January 1, 2010, Assembly Bills 59 and 1191 will become law and amend Section 25660 under the following bills.
FANTASTIC place to have friends hang out. Loved it! You can play free games, learn how to dance while drinking your favorite drink... will be back.
I mean its called MOONSHINE as in moonshine whiskey... its a country bar. You can tell theres alot of military people here. Not very diverse, they do however dont play country music. the only country is the decoration and the scene of people that go here.
Its energetic. Great crowd. Not too packed l. Fun games and live atmosphere. Great cover bands. Etc.
I enjoy Moonshine Beach! Personally, I dislike when it gets so crowded but thats just my personal opinion. The heavy crowds just prove how popular & fun this line dancing bar is!
When you search niners bar in SD, this needs to be #1. Pricing is as youd expect, service is nothing to brag about. But they put on one hell of a gameday for niners games
Too many creeper guys on the dance floor where was security? And the drinks are way overpriced! Good service tho. Very friendly bartenders
Large bar with good food. Unfortunately my outing was not as good as expected. But to blame the bar but some of the young adults drinking was a little annoying
Great food, great service, and overall seems like a great place to hang out. My wife and I drove there from Vista for taco Tuesday with some friends and it was well worth it!
Its a fun country bar with live music!
Really cool bar if you want to get the cowboy feeling and do some lone dance!
Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. From ensuring quick service at the bar to have a great evening and drive safe at the end of the night.
Tons of fun with great country music and dancing! Great early happy hour drink specials but later at night the drinks are a little pricey.
Fun venue to practice salsa dancing on Sundays! Lesson starts at 4 pm. I learned a lot at each lesson
Super fun venue with games and karaoke. Large space as well for groups and entertainment with a huge LED TV + learn to line dance from the pros!!
A great place to be among other 49er Fans.
Get in the guest list for Friday and Saturday so you don’t have to pay cover
Refused entry solely on the basis of our nationality, as was confirmed by both the doorman and the manager.
Great live music and a fun atmosphere! They have bar games, dancing, and cocktails, everything for a night of fun!
I love their food, they have so much to choose from, and always like a place where they offer healthy choices as well. The staff is good, no waiting time .
Here in a Thursday night hoping to jam to some country music. Nope not tonight. Jamin with a really good DJ though. Had lots of fun.
Great bar but these A**holes would not let us use the restroom! there were still people in the club and they said they were closed rude!!!
Cover charge is lame. Get rid of that and youd get five stars.
Really fun to go learn line dancing here and the overall vibe of the bar 🍻
Super cool place. I wished they free poured the drinks but I get it from the business side of it.
Went outside at 1:15 and was told no one could come back in even though I had a tab at the bar. Doesnt seem worth the $10 cover.
I go on Sundays for Salsa Dancing. Fun spot. Great floor to dance. Parking is tough but its worth it.
The names change but the place is still fun.
Fun! Good small concert venue, country line dancing...etc. Nice, new outdoor space
Excellent atmosphere especially on Sundays they host Salsa and bachata night, people are amazing and friendly too
Awesome vibe! Great music, good drinks. They even have a karaoke bar
Its a nice place to hang out during the day but at night is the best place to be.
Great atmosphere, good crowd. I was visiting from out of town and really enjoyed this place!
Nice small country bar but big enough you arent cramped. Even on nights they have concerts
Went there f or the first time. Totally loved it!!! So much fun and great dancing!
Paid money to play a game then they told me to leave after some other guy tried to go up the stairs no idea who he was and they said I couldnt get my money back or they would call the cops if I didnt leave immediately
Had a great time, came down from northern California and enjoyed the hell out of the Niner game and the food and drink!!
Trash don’t go. Take your money to Tavern across the street I promise you it’ll be better.
Plenty of space & options for games, bar inside and outside, good drinks, a huge dancing floor & a stage for performing!
Amazing country bar! great music cool vives. line dancing lots of fun!
Great place to spend some time in for the night. Lots of people and really gets jumping around 10-11 at night.
Fun and livkey, music was a mixed bag but I appreciated the vibes
49ers bar. Amazing atmosphere during niner games. Good specials on game day.
Charles was incredibly informative, not to mention dashingly handsome. Great place, fun times!
Had a food truck serving tacos with literally nothing on them
My favorite bar in pb, the lines can be long but well worth it
Great during the day on a Sunday. Chill vibe, fun games, dog friendly. Will be back for sure
Fun atmosphere. Whether you do or dont know how to dance to country music; this place will get you in to it.
Great people and love the live music! Always have a great time here!!
Unprofessional. They rob you and refuse to explain anything. I rather spend my money elsewhere
Huge venue with country music and lots of dancing space. Great with a big group.
Has some table games and great dancing! Love the drinks here too!
Fun place with a very young crowd. Only downside is its difficult to dance on the Dance Floor due to how crowded it is
Average bar, sometimes have great live music artists, but the sound quality is horrible.
I love line dancing and people are willing to help noobs.
For me was the best experience ever... country and rock music at the same place is just a dream that became reality.
A fun bar with a nice relaxing game/karaoke area out in front then a dance/concert hall in the back.
Love a country bar at the beach! Awesome bands and artists on the regular.
Always a great time line dancing here!
Good place, but very confusing. One song is country western the next is rap, and everything in the middle.
Horrible service outrageous drink prices stay away but thats put in there no put the foot with it put a surge of packs and all the drinks now
Very kool place, go checkem out you wont be disappointed!! Great place to go out with friends. Always hoppin 😎
Nice venue with basketball beer pong and a couple other cool things
Great place to grab a drink and do Latin dance on Sunday evening!
A fun venue with a little bit for everyone. Can be a little crowded on holidays
This place deserves all 1 star rating. From the service to the food, it was subpar.
It was great to see a concert at.
Worst place I went to in San Diego. Super rude people!!!!
Loved it! For line dancing or salsa and bachata, its awesome :)
A buddy was drugged here but a second visit he wasnt so maybe just bad timing and more police needed.
Always amazing. Best live music in SD
A gaming bar that has arcades, karaoke, foosball, ping pong, beer pong, a dance floor, and special shots 😉😉.
Good place to grab a Moscow mule, play some games with friends and just enjoy the weather!
