The Idiot Box Comedy Club

We went there for grad night. Our son was one of the comedians. We had a blast. They offer drinks of various types. The tables and chairs are arranged facing the stage so you wont miss a joke. Lots of fun.

Great place to enjoy laughter over a few drinks while supporting local businesses and great comedians. Staff does a great job to make the place welcoming and comfortable. Cant wait to go back.

This is a great small venue where the gathering is a lot more personal. Drinks are reasonably priced. My wife and I would definitely return for a future date night.

I love The Idiot Box! The North Carolina Comedy Festival was one of the most fun times Ive ever had. Its one of the most valuable weeks in standup Ive had so far, make sure if you go that you take advantage of all the networking opportunities and daily open mics, the festival has a LOT of great events, not *just* great comedy shows. I am already looking forward to applying again next year!

Went to see Anthony Crawford with some friends and we had a great time! Decent openers and a good atmosphere made for a very enjoyable show.

Phenomenal place. The venue, the staff, and the performers are thoroughly enjoyable. The club is small enough to be cozy, but still manages to pull in top national acts. The perfect entertainment venue.

Tonight was great! My face is sore from laughing. We got a good variety of styles from the comics and the crowd was easy going and friendly. The owner spoke with us and was fantastic! They run a great club and we will definitely be back.

My husband and I had never been to a comedy club before and wasnt sure what exactly to expect. This was a great choice as we drove over 2 hrs away to go to this particular show. It was a wonderful experience and well definitely be going back!

This was our first time attending a show at the idiot box so we werent sure what to expect. We started our night out at the nextdoor beer and bottle shop where Steve guided us through our adult beverages....Then we walked over to the Idiot box where we found a cozy comedy atmosphere... Theres literally not a bad seat in the house! I literally cant wait to go back! I highly recommend this fantastic establishment 💕

I am currently apart of the new IMPROV troupe, so I have gotten to know the owner/staff pretty well through my experience thus far. They are all great people! The environment is very welcoming whether you are just going to get a drink or watching an improv show/stand up show. I highly recommend anyone that wants to try something different to come check them out!!!

I went to see Anthony Crawford on Nov 23rd and the show was incredible. The club is very clean and has a great atmosphere. I think it’s the perfect size for a comedy club. Small enough to make it feel intimate but big enough to not make you feel claustrophobic.Just a heads up, there were a few parking spots next to it but I wouldn’t count on those if it’s a busy night.

The room and atmosphere before the show starts is awesome. If you plan on buying a drink, expect a weak over priced drink from one bartender tending to every single person in the room... with no intention of getting drinks out in a timely manor. Im not sure if this place does stand up occasionally or not, but I bought a ticket expecting stand up. What I recieved was a skit type show by very loud (yelling in a small room) actors with a type of humor that I didnt relate to. The humor was for the overly witty and dry type humor. To put it shortly, they showed a 1930s black and white movie that they voiced over for OVER 10 MINUTES AND I WANTED TO DIE. We ran away.

Cute and intimate. Took my wife to see Katie Ks I am the trash tour and it was a great time. well definitely be back.

Tiny tiny tiny place. Staff is nice and comics are pretty good. Parking is virtually non existent. Drinks are not great unless you like two options for beer, two for wine and tiny liquor selection. But overall would go back.

The venue and setup were really good, and the people there were friendly. My date and I didnt enjoy the amount of explicit language in the humor, so we left. That was just our preference, of course—most people dont care as much about that, or about raunchy jokes. Were a bit more sensitive than average.

Exceeded my expectations which were already pretty high cause I know the owners are real go getters. The club itself is gorgeous and modern and warm, nice bathrooms, parking, it just feels lush but doesnt cost like a fancy night out. They have national headiners and all ages shows so there is really something for everyone, unless you just really hate fun. Then, I mean they do serve alcohol so still, but you should stay home.

Had a really fun time. The improv team were on point tonight. Very creative and came up with so many different ideas with the prompts from the audience. I was hoping that there would be a little bit bigger crowd but I think the show we were in was just right. (Remind me to go find that Goldilocks girl, she stole my line. She’s going to catch some hands when I see her! )

Chill location for good comedy. None of the normal comedy club bs. Prices are reasonable, seating is comfortable, and people are nice.

My friend gave the bestperformance and the MC was nothing but rude to us. Commenting on our appearance and what school we went too. MC or owner or whoever the blonde lady was nothing but rude. Try to find a better open mic night:

My fiancee took me for a date night and we had a great time! Neither of us had been there before, but the comedians were great, and the bartender was super nice. Definitely recommend!

Small place, but absolutely the best night my wife and I have had in such a long time. People were genuine, likeable, and extremely talented at impromptu comedy. I highly suggest it, blew away all my expectations.

Spend your money elsewhere. The comics here are not funny, crack jokes without context, and the space is very cramped.Terrible experience at the idiot box. Went to the idiot box with high hopes, have been to the comedy zone multiple times and have had a great time. Saw the no nonsense show on Fridays and it was the worst comedy show I have ever been to. The jokes were absolutely terrible, lacked transition, it was just downright sad.I could understand if the show was 5 bucks but it was $10 per person for my party of five. I wasted $50.I am sure the comics are funny people and their jokes could have been funny, but they lacked context. I could imagine the jokes being funny in a small group of friends during conversation, but not doing stand up.

This place is the real deal! Great beer on tap, amazing talent on stage and they will even teach you how to do the magic that they do! We are hooked and go to a show at least once a week!! Love this place!

I went there with a friend for open mic night. Hit or miss with the comedians. Some were really funny and my friend and I actually had a good time. Then things got really uncomfortable when one of the local comedians (who started off hilarious) just went down a really dark path. He started talking about how he was sexually abused and raped as a child. Almost ruined everyones night to be honest. Still an experience I wont forget. Id recommend going at least once.

You should look up shows like the UCC and the North Carolina Comedy Festival coming in September 2021. The Idiot Box is a Great place to come with Friends and Date night. Always have a great time there. Come to support a friend. One thought though, it seemed as if the comics were rushed last night compared to the last time I went. Still had a great time and will continue to do so!!🤣🤪

The 7:30 Improv Comedy Show kept us laughing. The performers were quick witted and kept the content clean and classy. My family is already talking about returning for another show.

The owner and host was welcoming at the door and hilarious onstage. The bartender knew a lot about making drinks, then he went up and was a hilarious comic. Excellent experience!

We tried this place with no expectations...Thought it would be a funny to watch local comedians and to some extent it was, however there were several times I found myself wondering what the heck the comedians were doing...I did look around to see if it was just me, however I saw several of the same puzzling looks. Overall, we a good time.

I love The Idiot Box! They have excellent standup comedians, fantastic Saturday improv shows, and outstanding classes for people interested in learning how to perform standup, sketch, and improv. The owners, Jennie and Steve, are amazing! Great location on the lower level of Geeksboro coffee house. Customers can grab coffee, alcoholic beverages, and snacks upstairs and then come down and laugh like crazy. Highly recommend.

Ive been to one improv night there and it was a lot of fun. The players were very up beat and entertaining. Its a good small venue too.

Hands down the best venue for local comedy and improv shows in Greensboro. Monday nights feature roast battles between local Comics Thursday night is an open mic for comedy that starts at 8:30 with minutes beginning at 8 generally Friday nights feature comedy showcases at 8:30 and sometimes 10 open mics Following the show or improv jams. Every Saturday the idiot box hosts three improv shows at 4 (kid friendly/clean) 8:30 and 10, the improv shows get progressively more racy and raunchy throughout the night.

They have created a Premier Comedy Club that offers writing classes, improv classes, open mics, comedy showcases with local and national comics, and a friendly bar staff! I cant say enough good things about the Idiot Box! Go and get your laugh on!

We LOVE the Idiot Box! It is a great place to go with friends or for a date night. Its different every time because it is audience based. This is a MUST DO in downtown Greensboro.

I really dont think they are too fair in judging there comedy competitions some better judging has to be done.It may be better if the judges and the contestants Not be connected

Fun spot. Seemed like a support group for comedians, when we were there for open mic night. I dig that, they are honing their craft. Funky spot off the beaten path. A 1st ammendment exercise in uncomfortable topics.

Great club run by people who really have a deep passion for comedy. Low ceilings and atmospheric lighting make it a perfect room to hear jokes be told in!
