We were walking nearby when someone gave us tickets to their free open mic show on Tuesday. We decided to check it out. Security was nice, and we headed in at 7:30ish with the show starting at 8. Before going in, they do have a sign that says 2 drinks minimum. When you go in, you have stars going up and down with no signs. Head up, and you will see a black door to go through. The place was small and cozy. There was one working bartender, but it was friendly and efficient. They did have happy hour on a few drinks, each $5. They have bathrooms, which were very clean. A little before 8, they announce that the show will be starting. Nathan Donovan was an amazing host! He explained how they would randomly select a comedian and have 3 minutes to do their set. He made a lot of funny jokes and really set a great mood for the night. The rest of the comedians were also pretty good and definitely had a good time. Although it is a free show, you will be spending a minimum of like $10 per person due to the drinking rule, so it is not completely free. Would still highly recommend this place!
Went to the open mic last night and it was a blast! Venue is awesome! Drinks were cheap and great. The mic is great and a lot of funny comedians but best part of the show by far is the host Nathan in-between comedians! Definitely coming back soon!
Went to see Craig Robinson perform recently. It was a little crammed when they packed it in, but not too bad. There is a 2 drink minimum, which isnt too bad. The pretzel bites were good. The host was really funny, and so was the second comic Archie something. Even though Craig had some technical issues with his keyboard, he was still funny. Wish I could have stayed for the whole show, but I had to get to work. Definitely recommend.
Now its two drinkminimum, it was two item. I understand this is standard but if I dont want drinks and am paying for food at the same inflated price why the change. I know theres been a service charge for some time in SD (since Covid) but now a 20% add on top of that for a party of four or more. Im confused is this money going directly to the staff or is it optional for the owners to apply where they see fit. On top of the service charge for buying tickets online...Give it All to the wait staff and Im good, but if its the former, then this is beyond what I find reasonable fees.
Every single staff member was amazing. So nice! So accommodating. I will definitely be back here. I cant say enough good things about my experience and about every single person we encountered while here. Thank you so much for a great time
The entrance and long dark hallway are reminiscent of a secret club or speakeasy. Once downstairs, it opens up to a large room that seats maybe 200 with a stage in the corner. Good views from most seats. Tables are long and narrow with 4 to 5 seats on one side only, all facing the stage. Short tables in front and bar height in the back. Really enjoyed the 30 minute opener that I wasnt expecting and also the 60 minute headliner act. Waitresses come by about four times before and during the sets, then get you the bill in the last 20 minutes.
Had a great night with four friends watching Phil Hanley. Pepe at the front was an absolute legend! As soon as we got in, servers appeared and shortly after food and drinks were at our table. Great night and funny show!
Waited 1 hour and 45 minutes standing outside to be let in. Show started 1.5 hrs late. Once seated realized there is a two drink minimum requirement per person. Bottle of water or glass of soda cost $8. That means you are expected to spend minimum of $16 more than just the price you paid for your ticket. If you’re going with a party of 4 or more you are required to pay 20% gratuity. There is a “surcharge cost” of 5% added to your entire bill. Lastly, the bathroom had no hand soap to wash your hands. Personally, I’d never go again and I wouldn’t recommend others to go either. Waste of time and huge waste of money. Plenty of other things to do with your night than spend it here.
Cool venue, nice staff and reasonable drinks. I have to take off one star because the minimum drink requirement is annoying. I think its a bit much requiring 2 drinks for a less than 1.5hr show. If you dont want anything alcoholic, its $8 for coke or water. For some of the acts, I would have rather just paid extra for the ticket. The other thing is that they end up having to take your order in the middle of the set, which is a bit disruptive for the performer.
I suppose I should quote the ACC response to one review, What do you expect to pay at a club in the gaslamp? If your location causes you to do things that dont make your customers happy maybe youve chosen locations poorly? To wit; just got back from my first show at the ACC. Ill keep it short:PRO-Really nice staff and security (seriously, great people)CONS-Two drink minimum, if you dont drink enjoy both of your $10 sodas-Few and bad food choices-The constant smell of exhaust leaking into the performance space from somewhere (its a basement, how could this even happen)?-The worst sound in a comedy clud ever. PROTIP: The sound is great in bathroom. And frankly, the sightlines arent much worse there either.Truth is, I bought tickets to the show thinking it was at another location and only clued in late the game. My mistake. Having been there, its going to take a monster act to get me back. But thanks to all the staff who were genuinely nice, decent people.
Been there a few times now - super cozy venue with good guest comedian lineups. Staff have been consistently polite and helpful, and everyone who goes there brings good vibes and energy to the shows.Would highly recommend if you’re up for a night of chuckles and comedy!
Saw the incredible Dave Attell here. Great atmosphere, great staff, quick with drinks and food. Sound was perfect and aspeaker in the, very clean lavatory, so you dont miss anything! Great venue for comedy.Only downside, two friends and I were told we had to text to get a menu and couldnt get in unless we did. What? Time will tell if I start receiving text ads in the coming weeks....
We’ve made this comedy club in downtown San Diego our go-to spot for a fantastic night out. The strength of the drinks is matched only by the quality of the comedy – always top-tier entertainers that keep us laughing all night long. The bar and food offerings are excellent, contributing to the overall great atmosphere. It’s not just the big names that draw us in but the incredible experiences we’ve had. We’ve been often and will definitely be back for more. A must-visit for anyone looking for a good time!
Great experience. Came out this weekend to see Jason Banks but was a little disappointed when his show was canceled due to him being sick. But we were able to watch another comedian Kellen Erskine which had our night to a great start. 2 drink minimum, ordered sliders which was pretty small but that was expected.
Comedy is comedy. Depends who you see. The space was great but the logistics of getting in and out were not awesome. Like most comedy clubs the beer choice was bad and prices high but is a very cool venue.
Wow! We went to see Carlos Mencia last night. His show was epic! Him and his family were so grateful. The venue setup is so nice looking. The sliders and fries were good. The big plate of beer battered onion rings for $5 were on point.(Fyi)You still have to buy 2 drink minimum, even if you buy food.I will definitely be back again....
Love this place for a casual night out. Have yet to see a horrible comedian. Of course, some better than other, but even the okay ones are decent.Love it when big names come, its intimate enough to let their guard down. Some crowds better than others, but most know the etiquette.Staff is always friendly. Service tends to be slow, but the friendliness makes up for it.I plan on coming back. Thanks for the laughs.
Great venue. Lots of great comics booking shows here. Very friendly staff. Make sure you book your tickets directly from the website.
Amazing comedy club we love it every time we go! It’s always an awesome date night
I love this venue. It is super clean, they run a good operation and always have really great comedians here. Ive been here a few times now and one of my more preferred locations to see shows.
Id really like to say that I had a great time, Samuel Comroe and his buddies were hilarious, but more than that the staff were amazing, especially the manager Cory, maybe he was only doing his job but his kindness made the entire night so much better for me.
Great place to watch comedy, drinks are over priced and not well made. I would never eat here either. Also they crowd you to the basement are which can get uncomfortable. Plus side is that they have very funny comedians come through.
I certainly do enjoy this Comedy Club. Great sound system. Cool staff. Impressive lineups. Only problem,“fighting in a basement offers a lot of difficulties. Number one being, youre fighting in a basement.”- Lt. Aldo Raine
My first time at this comedy club.It was ran very smoothly by the staff from the door guy to the server staff.Everything was great. My server was Kendall and she was awesome. The service and food were top notch and nothing goes better with that than sitting down and having some laughs.I would recommend this place.Dont forget about the 2 drink minimum.
Went last to the open mic and had a great time. Great place it has the perfect atmosphere. Will be back for another one very soon.
The show was fine but the way they make you pay for the show is not pleasant.Basically the show is “free” BUT you have to get at least 2 drinks. And food doesn’t count towards this rule. For example a simple coke is priced $8 before tax and tip 🤯I would rather pay for my ticket then I would not have the feeling of being robbed
This is an embarrassment to comedy clubs on many levels. They will shut the doors 15 minutes before the ticket time so you have to get there early. There are much better comedy clubs in San Diego. Avoid this one if you can.
I had the most amazing time The staff was wonderful very personable small but intimate venue cant wait to come back on open mic night on Tuesday.
Cool intimate place, except for the high price of drinks that are mandatory x2. It would be better if they just include the pricing in the tickets or just have the food items count as one of the mandatory items also. But overall we had a great time seeing Joe Derosa live! Service was fast and prompt too!
The staff is friendly, the drinks are strong and the comedians are funny - whats not to love?!The ACC has become a staple downtown. Whether mainstream or local up-and-comers, their lineups are always strong - I always end up following them on social media after the show. The venue has a really cool underground vibe and the nachos are fanfuckingtastic! I recommend the sangria, itll make the comedians even funnier. Also, the fact that theyre open and willing to put their necks on the line in the name of comedy is pretty badass.Im a huge fan and will continue to catch my favorites at the ACC.
Like every other comedy club, the seats are ridiculously close to each other. The way they have this set up, the tables fit about 5-6 people and then the table behind you is RIGHT behind you. I had to keep making sure my hair wasnt in the food that the people behind me ordered. It was super uncomfortable how tightly we were seated, if you have to get up for whatever reason, everyone else at your table has to get up because theres just no way to walk around. One of the girls bathroom stalls didnt have TP. The food was pretty good, the drinks come out fast, and the service was great. I just wish I had a little more room!
Check your recipts. They charge you more than advertised and it seems like the management and ownership is cool with it. Just eat and drink then go watch comedy. These guys are worse than movie theater popcorn
Theres a 2 drink minimum, but the prices arent crazy. The venue is great, intimate, and easy to leave once the show is over. Ive seen some great comics and not so great but I always have a good time.
If you are going to force people who dont drink alcohol to pay for 2 drinks, at least have non alcoholic mocktails on the menu or ginger beer or something. Forcing people to spend 20 dollars on 2 bottles of water is ridiculous. Water is free at almost every bar in this country.
Nice venue. Super friendly staff. Great comedians. Food was awesome as well. 👍🏼
We went to see JP Sears, great small club yes there is a two drink minimum per person, cost the two of us 34.00 not bad seats range from 25.00 ea up but it is a small venue so not a bad seat sound system is good and they have early and late showings. We did dinner and a late show, they do serve food at the club but at a price and its club food so not the greatest.
My friends and I went Tuesday May 7 for open mic night our first time at the Comedy Club and I felt the jokes was very racist and not funny my husband is way funny they should have called him on stage period now I see why I never been there and I am a Daygo native
The American Comedy Company is one of the best comedy clubs in the country for sure. The club is clean and has a great food and drink selection for its weekend shows. It also brings in some of the biggest comedians around. The staff is always on point too, with good service every time I’ve been in.Their open mic on Tuesdays is arguably the best open mic in the country. They draw local comedians out of a bucket to make sure it’s fair and have great drink specials. The club even fills up regularly with over 100 people for their mics, and on a slow night will have 80+.Can’t recommend enough - 10/10
For the Downtown San Diego basement scene, this fits well. Not too crowded, good bottle service, light food, dont come here if you broke or youll be complaining the whole time.
Overly priced drinks that were made way to weak. The show I went to had a two drink minimum. If a place is going to require a purchase and gouge the price they really should give you a decent drink. Only reason I gave this place 3 stars was because Doug Benson was great and the interior brick was nice.
Service was good, so was the show. The venue itself was meh. I got stuck sitting behind a pole. Major complaint is the fact they put no alcohol in their specialty cocktails. 2 drink minimum so I had 2 Punch Drunk Rums at $16 each. It was just juice, and I know this because I have alcohol flush syndrome, so whenever I drink, my face flushes. No flush tonight. I also have a Keychain breathalyzer, and I blew a zero. Next time Ill buy sodas for my drink minimum.
I went and watched a live taping of a podcast during comic con weekend and I really didnt have a good time here. First lets state the good things. Most of the staff was friendly and helpful and since the place is in a basement, with little to no cell reception, the staff had QR codes at the door to download the menu so you can have access to one before you go down. Now for the not so good. The place is first come first serve seating which usually isnt bad however, the stage is kinda small so if the person, on it, is standing, its fine, for the podcast, they were sitting, and we couldnt see them from between 1/2 and 3/4 of the way back of the venue. Also there are 4 major pillars that block the view of the stage in various places of the venue. When we asked to move BACKWARDS to a high top table in the back that would have corrected both of our issues, we were rudely told you were already given a table, so sit down. Moral of the story: get there early to get a good table as close to the front as possible. I probably would not go back to this place unless I had a VIP ticket or got there hours before a show to ensure a good spot.
Really cool comedy club in downtown San Diego. They bring in awesome headliners and have an incredible open mic night. Definitely having rising talent in that building and always love going whenever I have the chance.
This is a really fun club. Reasonable prices, with a high end feel. The staff is very on point and drinks come out fast. Lots of great talent comes through. But minus two stars for adding surcharges to your bill, so the owners can afford to pay the minimum wage. The least amount they legally can. It really bothers me when businesses add hidden fees at the end. Just increase the advertised prices. Dont add surcharges for paying minimum wage, or providing health insurance. Thats not my problem, and leaves a sour taste in my mouth
By far, one of the best venues to watch live comedy. Not just in SD, but around the nation.
I rushed online to buy tickets and bought the wrong night. Once I walked to the front not thinking anything about it the door guy gave me a heads up and instead of turning me away he helped me out right there and took care of everything. Thank you
Went to see the Finish comic ISMO the other day. I would rather pay a higher ticket price than during the whole show watch waiters and waitresses going in front of my table nonstop. Our waitress without any explanation brought our bill on one credit card instead of two and decided to talk to me about the bill while the show was still going on. As there wont be any time after the show. Is that acceptable customer service at the show?I dont think so...
Had a great experience at the American Comedy Co. From the front door to the basement. The front door person was very clear with the instructions with the menu ((texting and all)) and the staff downstairs was really friendly and also explained everything well. The food and drinks were delish. Made sure to tip their wait staff for being so awesome.
Place is aweome. I always feel like they swindled me when buying tickets for $20-30 bucks and then they tack on a $8 Convenience fee, and then tax. Whats the convenience??Anway, its one of the few venues in San Diego, the bigger stars run their circuits through.Get there early if you want decent seats.
They will immediately remove you if you dont meet the 2 drink minimum. They also will not let you in after doors close. And will not refund you. Probably the least lighthearted comedy spot in sd. Avoid unless you have to see an act here
Arrived early, Thursday night show. Seated courteously; drinks and food ordered and served quickly (chicken tenders and fries, crispy and hot). Funny host, opener, and headliner. Clean mens; cool room during a humid SD heatwave. Whats not to like? Your mileage may vary. Among the most pleasant nights at standup Ive had (SF, LA, NYC, Vegas).
We went and saw Jack Whitehall tonight and had such an incredible experience. From the friendly staff while we waited in line to the service being seated and served, it was 10/10 such a fun night and can’t wait to come back. The ambiance was perfect, drinks were stiff and there isn’t a bad seat in the house. As a woman, I very much appreciate that it didn’t feel dingy and grimy. It was totally clean and I personally watched the staff clean and prepare for the next show while waiting in the VIP line for pics after. All of the staff offered their goodbyes and “have a great night” or “thanks for coming in.” Genuinely a fun night and looking forward to the next show we can catch.
Great small club for comedy. The door staff can be rude, but once youre inside the wait staff are great and get your orders fast and closed out before the end of the show
We went to the American comedy co. last night 12/23/2023.(our,2nd time)The doorman who let us in was in a bad mood all night. At the door and leading the meet and greet line. I would say Mr. Mustache and at least one other male and female employee were having a bad day and putting out bad vibes. I kept my cool. But,cmon its a comedy club. Not a prison. The spot definitely needs to weed through their employees for sure. Also,I arrived 2 hours before the show to have front row seating,we were 1st in line, but ended up in 2nd and 3rd row, somehow. Smh...I dropped over $500 between food, drinks, parking and tickets. Hopefully next time their will be a better experience.
Its not a bad venue. The seating is a little chaotic. The real problem is the ridiculous drink prices. I ordered 2 coffees and then I was told I had to order two more drinks: I went with 2 cranberry juices. The total? $43.00. If that was non -alcoholic then I would hate to see the bill for alcohol. You can get cheaper drinks at an amusement park. If youre on a budget, order water or avoid this place completely.
The service was great. We parked in the plaza which is about 2 blocks away. We ordered the pretzel bites which went great with our beers. I would come again to watch another comedy show.
American Comedy Co. gets some of the best comics around to come through and they also have a killer open mic that is a ton of fun. Well worth checking out.
Awesome old school club right in the heart of Gaslamp. I really love the vibe. It really feels like a classic comedy club. Food was great, too.I also want to give a shout out to John, our server. He welcomed us warmly, ensured we had a great view, and kept our drinks full. Johns enthusiasm and recommendations made the night even better. If you want a memorable night out, ACC is the place and make sure you get Johns table!
ISMO rocked the house, our waitress was great and the nachos were delicious! Be aware -- they insist on the 2 drink minimum even if you buy food. In future, I wont buy food.
Went to the Jack Whitehall show tonight. Show was great but more notable was the venue itself. The intimate setting really lent itself to an authentic comedy venue and being able to see a major headliner in a 150 seat venue was remarkable. My wife and I interacted with at least 5 staff members and each was friendlier than the next. The drinks were great, and all though we only order pretzel bites to eat, they were good enough that we ordered more than one order. We’ll definitely be headed back in the near future.
Loved the comedy club. Went last night to see Chris Estrada. Staff was friendly, clean, and overall great night. My only request would be for more non-alcoholic drink options.
This is by far the best open mic in San Diego. For customers you will see the best talent in San Diego FOR FREE! The atmosphere and set up is so perfect for comedy and the drinks are not expensive at all. And for comics its the best place to perform in front of 100+ people. This is my go to spot every Tuesday to perform and I really enjoy what they are doing over here. Also, the Host Nathan Donovan does an amazing job hosting and making sure everyone is having a great experience. I aint nevaaaaa gonnna staaaaaaah coming here!!!!
Taken to a performance on a Friday night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There is a two drink minimum and appetizers are available. One must call in advance for reservations and parking can be a problem.
Fun place !There’s a two drink minimum and there is bar food .
Fun place! Low price comedy show if you buy tickets online. But they didnt have the pineapple cider I ordered. Every seat has a good view of the stage. High priced paid parking nearby, otherwise get a ride because free parking is impossible.
Went to see Ismo yesterday. Show was great but this venue is not the greatest due to annoying staff constantly walking by, in front of you, obscuring the view, in order to ensure noone uses a mobile phone. I suppose depending on where you sit it is a nice venue. Avoid the flank areas, especially to the left if possible - staff walking in front of you during the show non stop. Stressed me totally and did not make it a nice experience. 😔
Pretty nice. Lines & seating management was well organized. 2 drinks MINIMUM per person & dam you already know everything hella overpriced, but I mean shouldve been expected, just didnt expect the 2 drink minimum... so yeah just beware of that! Only 2 stalls for females so the restroom got pretty crowded. Other than those things, it was pretty dope.
American comedy Co. always has stellar talent coming through. On the night I visited Big Oakerson crushed it.
Came on 12/13/22 for open mic night and had a blast! The host was hilarious, and I enjoyed watching all the comics. Loved the $5 drink specials too! If you’re looking for a fun Tuesday night out in San Diego, this is the spot.
Best comedy club around! John is an awesome server! Love the vibe Peter the manager was friendly, great for dates and laughs. Definitely have the best cocktails and comics
We visited the club on a free amateurs night. The host was great and did a good job of bringing a lot out of the crowd. The comics were hit and miss as expected, but we had a great time! Drinks were only $5 (not sure if that is consistent or if they had specials that night), so it was a nice inexpensive date night. We walked by a couple nights later and there was a long line of people waiting to get in, so they must have some pretty good comics coming!
Killer venue with an always killer lineup. Been there twice and will be back again!
Someone was vaping the entire show and the staff didnt do anything.
Everyone working there was very, very helpful and friendly! The manager (Blonde female) was checking on all guest to make sure everything was 100%. Thank you!We also liked the seating in this club because everyone is facing the stage. A bit tight but had enough room to finish off nachos, wings and 4 drinks! Easy access to the restrooms as well.Excellent value for ticket prices and no surcharges or added fees! Thats very rare these days.We lined up in front of the 1 small door, just accross from STK restaurant with ACE parking a block up the same street. $30 though. May be cheaper elsewhere but not as close.Fun spot. We will be back.
1 of the 3 clubs in SD that has great comics from New York, LA, Austin.. perfect size room with limited awkward-view seats. good drinks an great appetizers..
Reviewing the service and food/drinks. This club gets GREAT names, but I really wish their service and options were better. Like most comedy clubs they have a minimum drink purchase, but the non-alcoholic options are SUPER limited and the minimum doesn’t count towards food. Then, Service. Service was very slow considering we needed to buy at least 2 drinks each. We didn’t get served until the end of the second opener (of 4)… then, they could not keep the orders straight. We were asked 3 different times if a food order was ours, but we didn’t even order food…
Saw Tim Dillion here last week. Crushed as always. Bartenders and servers were on it. Very attentive yet barely knew they were there. Great spot and service
We went to the comedy club last night for the first time. We saw Nimesh Patel. It was an absolute blast! Its such an intimate and cozy venue, theres not a bad seat in the house. Service was on point! Kathleen was amazing at taking care of our party and the rest of the crowd. The show was hilarious and the atmosphere made for an amazing night. We cant wait to go back!!
I live in San Diego and I went there with my parents yesterday, they were visiting from out of town. Already at the entrance it feels as if we were going into some sketchy club, they were definitely not polite at greeting their guests. Felt like we were going to prison or something, definitely not a comedy show. My mom was very uncomfortable going in there. The drinks were reasonably priced. Until they brought the check that had about 50% of surcharges. We were just a party of 3 and they charged us for auto gratuity, which was supposed to be only for larger parties. Plus all random fees added. We really felt taken advantage of. The service was very unprofessional, the drink runners didn’t even know what they were serving. Everyone was rude. The comedy show was ok. But we really didn’t enjoy the experience. We will never go back, nor will our friends family and coworkers.
The open mics are amazing! If the comic doesnt make you laugh trust me the host Nathan Donovan will make you laugh at them! Definitely coming back!
This was my first comedy show and it was amazing. We were in the third row and were still so close to the performance. Tim Dillon crushed from start to finish. Pretzel bites with cheese and mustard were good. Pink cocktail was excellent. Get the 40 Oz beer. It counts as your 2 drink minimum and you get to keep the mug. We will be back.
Came to the club on our first night while visiting San Diego on comp tickets found on line at Goldstar. After looking at a lot of the comedy club options on line in SD this one seemed to be the best option. It was very convenient to our hotel downtown 👍I really liked the look and feel of the club. All of the pictures online were accurate. You do have to go down a couple of flights of stairs to get to the basement, so It may be challenging if you have mobility issues. Not sure if there is an elevator. We were some of the first in line so we got great seats up front near the stage. Loved the decor. The seating is a little hard. The ordering of food and drinks ( 2 drink min. Per ) was efficient, but the menu is somewhat limited. I think that we ordered chicken tenders and fries ( hot and good bar food ). We saw 3 comedians and all were good to very good. The place was probably sold out. Definitely enjoyed our first night in town!
Maybe would rate this higher if allowed inside….“I heard the La Jolla Comedy Club is nice” - American Comedy employee. (It is)We arrived at 7:20 for a 7:30 show. The line was not moving. An employee informed us at 7:35 pm that per their policy that no late entries were allowed. It was a “first-come, first-serve” and this information was noted in the fine print. We pressed for more details as we had been in line prior to 7:30 and continued to get this line. Eventually they told us to email for a refund. It seems like an odd and confusing business policy. Tell folks to be there before 7:30 and then turn away those who do? That tells me that your employees aren’t processing customers at a desirable speed. Also - it’s a mandatory 2-drink minimum. Guaranteed we were buying food and drinks. Instead of filing paying customers in during breaks between acts, they chose to turn us away. Seems like an odd business plan?Listen to their own employees and go somewhere else.
Had an awesome time, the door man was really nice made me feel safe, service was great, had so much fun with my husband, it was my first time being at a comedy club, overall great experience
Just saw Shayne Smith and his two roommates perform here tonight. Its a little expensive, but its a nice venue, theres plenty to do beforehands with lots of different restaurants and cafes and such around the area, and they seem to book quality performers.Wonderful performance tonight, was not disappointed.
This place has a total NYC comedy club vibe! Its in a basement in the heart of Gaslamp in downtown San Diego. The door guys were super friendly and got us checked in swiftly and efficiently ! They explained we had to do a two drink minimum, but that is the expectation for all comedy clubs that I’ve been to. Once we got downstairs we walked into a nice intimate venue, not a bad seat in the house! Way better than going to see comics in big stadiums where you cant see a thing. Once we got seated our server greeted us IMMEDIATELY and our drinks came out shortly after. Delicious! I would recommend the Strawberry Fields. They have some nice bar food options to snack on during the show including Mini Sliders with Fries, AMAZING! The venue, food, drinks and the comedy were all amazing! I would highly suggest going to ACC for all your comedy shows!
Pretty great venue overall. The room is relatively small, so there isn’t really a bad seat in the place. It feels very intimate, which makes it feel more fun in my opinion. The room is also clean and wellMaintained, including the restrooms. Two drink minimum for the show I attended. Drinks were fine, and prices were high but totally inline with other comedy spots I’ve visited. Food was okay bar food. Nachos hit the spot.Staff were helpful, but a little aloof. People in line were all pretty excited about the show, but they seemed mildly out odd by the excitement. It was a little funny to watch. They were helpful through, if not cheerful.I’m looking forward to more shows here. Location is great and convenient.
JP and Brett were hilarious, the staff was very efficient and prompt. The drinks were made very well and the seating was comfortable. If Im in The San Diego area again I would definitely consider going to another event here.
American Comedy Co. SD is marvelous! Doorman was super friendly, wait staff was on damn point and quick, and the atmosphere was nothing short of great. Dont forget to take a pic with the creepy ol Ronald McDonald!!! I would go back no matter who was headlining. Awesome place, potent drinks, outstanding people.
The best comedy club in town! Lots of world class acts come through all the time.
This club is amazing! The food is great and it was obvious that the staff is going the extra mile to assure cleanliness and safety during this pandemic. All seated tables are spaced out and the performers are a safe distance from the crowd. I felt perfectly comfortable here and had an absolute blast. If you havent already, this place is an absolute must to check out!
Great place for a laugh! I took my family here for the holiday weekend and I loved the food, environment, drinks, and the jokes! Kathleen took very good care of us, we will definitely be coming back because of the way she took care of us!
Absolutely love coming here! They always seem to have the best lineup of local, up-incoming and big-name headliners. I’ve never had bad service and the drinks are quick! Walkable venue for pre/post show cocktails in the Gaslamp, and It’s the perfect size for a night of laughs … (And we all know size matters)
Great atmosphere! Love the intimacy of the place and they always have some really great comics. The openers are just as great as the headliners. The food is amazing and the drinks are well made. Door prices are great but drink prices are a little pricey. Just be prepared to spend some money on refreshments bc its a two drink minimum per person. But well worth the price!
Went here to see Drew Lynch while he was in town. Drinks are over priced but it’s a comedy club so it’s to be expected. Smaller space then I am use too, but to me you could see the stage pretty darn good from every seat. My only complaint is there was a line to get in and it was super hot in the stairwell where they had us wait. Once you got down into seating area though it was nice and cold. Had a great night here overall. Would definitely come back.
First time visiting the Gaslamp District, and the comedy club was absolutely worth it! Dusty and the others were very fun! Food was fine, service is crazy good! Super efficient ☆ But your tickets early at $10.00 each.
One of the best comedy clubs. Seeing famous headliners is one thing but going here to listen to new and up and comers is one of the best. If you love stand up, you will want to go here and experience this. Small club and very intimate. I have been to comedy shows at stadiums and they were funny but this intimate setting leaves for some of the best laughs you will ever have. They do have a 2 drink minimum. They do have options but it is really worth it to be honest and if you are going to one of the shows here, you will want to partake. I am a HUGE fan of stand up and there is a reason there is a 2 drink minimum. It helps you just loosen up and be open to some good comedy.
Great experience. Orny Adams was fantastic. Small club, so every seat is good. 2 drink minimum per person but drink prices reasonable. Couldn’t buy tickets online because we’re from outside the US but doorman sent us quickly down to buy them at the door. Very friendly service. Will definitely visit again.
Ive always enjoyed the comedy here. From some up and comers to the vets. I havent caught an open mic here, yet. Its a fun experience and you get to see the best of the industry in a very intimate venue. I get it, bar food menu, but even the pretzel bites were rough. Definetly pricey for the quality of food presented. Ill probably eat dinner before my future visits and then abide by their 2 drink minimum.
This would be a mostly neutral review because a touring friend of mine is good to see in town. Unfortunately, the responses by the owner here are embarrassing and a lesson of what not to do in PR.Heres something free for you that would attract more customers: take their feedback like you take their money. Its free and it actually benefits your bottom line to listen to them rather than bark back defensively. Some of us are happy to pay higher ticket prices or even have options, but for people who dont drink alcohol, $16 in water or soda is unsatisfactory. Hell, a tip minimum would be better than being forced to order from such a sparse menu. Further, if we could purchase the $32 in aforementioned minimum fees worth of food, most of us would probably be happy.Change your policies and your attitude because there are plenty of us with deep pockets but no patience for arrogant business owners. Leaving this review after going to purchase tickets again and being unable to support such rigid policies.
Love this place. All people there are so cool and easy to get in. Drinks are so good! And I recommend the chicken wings.
Just charge the full price at the door. Charging $20 for a show then requiring a 2 drink minimum, and forcing people to pay $10+ for non-alcoholic drinks is ridiculous.I surely hope there is some huge tax benefit or something.... because this just meant waiters were disruptive to force people to get drinks in the middle of the show. If you charged full price then people go to bar to get drinks youd have less disruptions and wouldnt need waiters.Paid $40 for 2 tix and $56 for 4 non-alcoholic drinks, so $106 total... just tell me tickets are $53 each next time.
Ive been here numerous of times beginning with Marlon Wayans. Really nice time tonight in which I appreciated. All line-ups and headliner were beyond satisfactory. Clean facility and friendly staff. Not always ready for second drink but always ready for a good laugh.
The place is dark and I was a little bit scared at first. The comedians were so BAD. Its really hard to watch. Very 😬 cringed.
Just a warning about their $9 dessert cookie ice cream sandwich dessert.... pretty sure they are the ones you can get at a gas station for no more than $2. Their food is pretty good, as well as their drinks. Its an intimate club but not too small either. Love this place!
The show was decent, we had many laughs. The “Jack Black” lookalike was quite funny, the main act Pablo Francisco was decent, but act lacked a little narrative. The servers were on point, but a little hasty about the 2 drinks minimum.
Went for a live podcast during SDCC weekend and the service was top notch with great atmosphere and clean bathrooms. Didn’t have food so can’t comment on it, other than it smelled great!
Way too much fun in one tiny place!! The comedy was amazing! The nachos were so-so. ( the chips were stale). Worth the price( including parking😏). Ill definitly go again.
Unless your front row seating you wont have a good view. Blockage from pillars and workers constant standing up to adjust cameras. Restrooms were decent easy to get to and clean with necessities.
Great shows! Open mic is usually packed every Tuesday. Nathan is a great host. Keeps it fresh.
Wanted to like this place, but too many strikes against it to recommend it or ever try it again. The shows are held downstairs in a brick-walled basement with no windows and little ventilation. The temperature is pretty warm and seems to rise as more people are seated before the show. The tables are designed to comfortably seat four people, but our table had five of us jammed together on hard wooden chairs. And the tables are placed so close together that the servers cant walk between them once guests are seated. (This place would be a death trap if a fire broke out.) The menu needs to be expanded - the choices are limited, and there was nothing healthy on it (nachos, loaded fries, and sliders). Drinks are sugary and expensive. To top it off, our show included a warm-up act who screamed into his microphone (why yell if youre holding a mike?), and our headliner had a medical issue and arrived late. Definitely not worth the money or time it took to get there.
Please tell me why I was FORCED to text them my cell number? Then told I cant come in unless I text the number for a menu...since already one person in our party did it...after buying tickets and being told I cant come on unless I do this? I mean I they paying my cell phone...selling my info? Whats the threat for? Already ruined the experience before it started...
Small venue, great comedians, perfect location.
This club isnt bad.Edit: theyve made some changes, like posting drink prices and getting better with customer service via email/social media so Im updating my review . Staff is always chill and helpful. Solid 4 star basement.
Its hard to rank this place... venue is amazing, comedians are hilarious. Food was basic, drinks were horrible. Go for something canned. Service from the wait staff was good, bit they dont take back mixed drinks that are over priced and taste disgusting.
This club is a legitimate diamond in the rough. Downtown San Diego is chock full of venues that come and go, or they look great online but are not what they seem when you get there. When you approach on show night, some may get intimidated by the GIANT line that forms outside, but dont fret, the staff are EXTREMELY efficient and the line flows well once the doors open. The servers were all ridiculously kind and helpful and the drinks are very stiff. The audio is top notch as well, not once did I ever have a hard time hearing any of the acts, and I can honestly say that theyre are very few, if any bad seats in the place. The stage is set up in a way that you can see pretty much everything at all times All in all, a GREAT place to watch comedy.
They are inside now! I was worried about reading reviews that said there was no bathroom, but there is. Fun night, the comedians definitely got funnier as the night went on, but there was plenty of laughing and such a good time! For those of you that are hesitant about the 2 drink minimum rule, lets be honest, youd probably have 2 drinks throughout the night anyway. This way you dont have to feel guilty about it. (But soda and water count as 1 of your drinks too, so if youre a lightweight or arent drinking, you dont need to worry.) Fun times.
Don’t go if you are not American. They wouldn’t let us into show as we didn’t have our passports on us. We had government issued ID as we were notified to have, if they insist on non Americans having passports they should say that on website or on ticket instructions, incredibly stupid and disappointing. The Laugh Factory down the street luckily let us in no problem and we watched a great show there.
My husband and I have had a lot of great laughs at ACC. The last time we went, we brought a few friends with us. This place is a basement comedy club. Its not always the cleanest and the drink selection is a bit limited, but you go for the comedy, not the frills. Ill surely be back.
Terrible customer service in general. I think the bouncer was the nicest person there. From waitress to the manager - they all lack manners. Do not recommend this place even if the tickets are free! They do their best to make your experience the worst you can ever have! I would say STAY AWAY!
I really like the place but are not handicap accessible. The drinks are good, and the server was fast and efficient.
Such an amazing venue, in the most beautiful part of the city.As an international visitor, Gaslamp is my favourite part of San Diego, and American Comedy Co is surely its hidden gem.Great atmosphere, great staff, great night out.An absolute must, on any visitors to-do list.5 stars isnt enough.
Wanted to check out a comedy show and we were not disappointed. The comedians had us laughing all night. The drinks were strong and delicious and the wings were great! Will definitely come back.
Feels small but theres plenty of space. The food is expensive and to be honest the 2 drink minimum sucks but I love the look and feel of the place. Had a blast with my better half. Expect to spend a minimum of 16 bucks in drinks.
A pretty great comedy shop in DTSD with a variety of acts that pass through. The space is nice, my only complaint is if you get seated on the far right side, you cant really see the sage or any of the action. Drinks were good as well.
Enjoyed the show. My husband was told to be quiet when he agreed with our neighbors that his drink looked like theirs, when they questioned the waitress if they received the right drink. However, the couple to our left and in front of us held conversations all night w/no warnings from staff. It all made sense at the end of the night when 1 of the couples and a couple employees were hugging and talking. So, if youre a regular guest: no talking. If youre friends work there: chat it up
JR Deguzman was great! But the service here was terrible. Waited for over 45 minutes waiting for a server - even got up to ask the host who our server was but his response was “you have to wait for a server”. Uhh, ok. Finally got our first drink halfway through JR’s set, and then they had the audacity to enforce the 2 drink minimum 🙄
Good comedy, decent alcohol prices and friendly staff. The sliders were excellent, although a little pricey. Wife and I were surprised how good they were. They bring out the food before the show starts so youre not munching during the show.
A fantastic comedy club! (And I work at one!) They dont have a waiting area, so make sure your whole part is there. It was practically from the front door to the showroom. Good is awesome. Atmosphere is fantastic. Prices are expensive but they have to make money somehow after paying the comedians.I do not like that there are chairs in front of tables. I was fortunate that the show was not sold out. Otherwise I would be shoulder to shoulder, back to front, squished like a sardine. Seating is tough there. Also buy your tickets online. Its more expensive at the door. (It was 24 w/ service fee online. 28 at the door.)Service was great and their Facebook is pretty active with deals!
This is a really great comedy club. First off, the stage is just the right size so that it feels intimate, but you arent on top of the performer. Secondly, there is plenty of space for a sizable crowd. Lastly, they have stunningly good and cheap Mexican food during happy hour. I guess you cant help but run into good Mexican food in San Diego!P.S. go to the open mic night sometimes and give local comics a chance!
Its a comedy club, so how you receive the show is going to vary by your opinion and taste. However, I removed 1 star for each of the following reasons:1 of 2) TWO drink minimum per person! Dont miss the fine print on the bottom of the e-ticket. Drinks range from $7 for a soda to $24 for some of the wines, from what I saw, so consider that in the cost of the tickets since theres no way around it.2 of 2) Though the wait staff are fairly polite, they still interrupt the show at two different times to come and make you order your 2 drinks, so if you know what you want beforehand you can limit their disturbance.
Love seeing Doug Loves Movies here every year at comic-con! Its a good venue that feels pretty intimate. The food always looks good, especially the fries🍟
Wonderful downtown comedy venue! Some amazing comedians come through this place, so I cannot recommend it enough if you like to laugh and have a good time.
This is by far the COOLEST comedy venue I have ever been to. The intimacy, dim lights, candles on the tables... All compliment each other well and provide a sexy cool fun feeling I appreciate the staff making the huge effort to keep everyone safe during these times. I constantly see the employees sanitizing, wearing gloves, masks, keeping the audience socially distanced... Theyre doing phenomenal!!!! With everything closed right now, this is honestly a dream come true and a super fun experience.
My wife and I went here to see a local comedian perform and had an awesome time. We went for the 7:30 show and arrived a little before 7. Its better to be early than late, since we were able to sit up front seeing as we were one of the first people to arrive. The server gal and food runner were courteous and prompt. We ordered 4 drinks and a brownie sundae. Both the beer and brownie were delicious. All in all we had a great time. My recommendation is to arrive early to the show if you want a closer seat. Additionally, be prepared to purchase 2 menu items per person. I drink beer so this wasnt an issue for me. Cheers =)
The American Comedy Co. is a cool spot to see a show. Overall, the space is great and has a chill vibe. Echoing sentiments of other folks - the service was a bit rough, but you’re there to see a comedy show, so it’s whatever. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Also, if the half price tickets are available, buy them. We did and were seated as we would have had we paid full price.
Who doesnt love comedy? This is a great place for it. Intimate and pro-comic. Your two drink minimum isnt going to be cheap but your evening here will be worth what you spend. This is especially true when you can get free ticket offers sometimes by registering for a comics guest list. Love ACC!
I’ve been a patron and performer at American Comedy Co for about a year now and I absolutely love this club! Not only do they book heavy hitting comics, but they also provide great stage opportunity for local comics and new comers. Since restrictions began to lift regarding dine in restaurants, this place has followed protocol and procedure to a T! The microphone stand is sanitized between performers and they switch out the microphone. I think American Comedy Co is going above and beyond to keep the community safe while also trying to bring joy and laughter to those who seek it in a time of great madness... I commend the club for the effort and willingness to keep the show going!
Great place to see some comedy. We went to an open mic night, and it was exactly what we expected. Some funny comedians, and some bombs. It was complimented by a good atmosphere, and the drink prices are fantastic. Will be returning again and again.
The American Comedy Company is the quintessential example of what a comedy club in the United States is. The experiences I have had at this establishment have been first class, from the professional conduct displayed by the doormen, the excited energy from the sound man, the expeditious and friendly service by the servers, to the amazing performers that have graced the stage. The ability to see an A-list lineup of comics at an affordable price coupled with everything else mentioned above puts this comedy club miles ahead of the competition in San Diego, Southern California, and arguably the entire country. If I had 5 clubs to go to for the remainder of my days, American Comedy Co. would be, without a doubt, a top choice.
Ive been there a few times now. First night I went was their grand opening, and it wasnt the greatest. But, every time since then, there have been great improvements over everything! It is a really cool place to catch some good comedy acts. The food is pretty good, and the wait staff is attentive. Im not sure how they keep up with everything, but they do a wonderful job. They are also very responsive to feedback, so if you have an idea for them let them know! Its good to see that they are getting some quality acts coming through there now. It was a bit dicey at first, but now it seems that there is someone I want to see just about every other weekend. I recommend going to the 7:30 shows and arriving early to have some dinner there before the show. Youll get great seats and it will save from having to go to multiple places.
Absolutely amazing club! Not only is this a great place for stand up. Where you can see absolute legends of comedy come through. But throughout the whole pandemic they have exercised extremely safe social distancing standards and is a safe space no matter your voice! Truly a great spot for San Diego comedy and all around establishment!
Friendly staff, good price for tickets, quick service (I have seen way slower at other places). You will sit close to your neighbor...I felt like I was back I church or school...the place has a good vibe.We would absolutely go back!!
Ive been here many times, more than 10. Almost every time Ive had a great experience. Out of every time Ive been here, Ive only had 1 bad experience and that was about 7 years ago. The staff and security on this particular time just seemed to have a something stuck inside of them that put them in a bad mood. They were really in everyones face about laughing too loud, or talking to the person next to you. It wasnt just my group either, other groups around us. Personally I didnt feel like anyone was disrespectful to the comic or the patrons. I dont feel like anyone was disruptive at all. That being said, that was the only time Ive ever had any issue here at all. Every time since or before was AMAZING. I highly recommend this no matter who the comics are.
The comedy was good, the food was pretty good and we got inside pretty quickly. I highly recommend reserving a spot rather than waiting at the door. This place could really lose a couple rows of seats and add a few inches to the legroom. Its more cramped than a small airplane when you get seated.
Best setting for stand up comedy. Great small intimate environment (seats a lot though) with great sound. Bathrooms have speakers so you wont miss a beat. Food was surprisingly good. We got the sliders
Like the club. Comedians as funny as expected. 2 drink minimum is standard. Whatever you do, DO NOT ORDER FOOD. They brought me some soggy, cold fries. When I told the waitress, she told me that it is what it is per her manager. No offer to replace them or refund then. Who messes up fries?
American Comedy co is brilliant. The downstairs red brick vibe is really great and even all the way in the back is super intimate. Love the zoltar fortune telling machine outside the bathroom. One of THE funniest shows I have ever seen was Bobby Lee at American Comedy co, cant wait till he comes back again. GO! You will love it
I did have a good time here. The comedians were funny (the host was actually better than the headkiner), but be cautious of your seating. We were placed right behind a structural support, so my neck was sore by the end of the night from leaning around it to see. There were no more open seats for us to move, so I was stuck there. Just be forewarned there are about a dozen seats you do not want.
Fantastic selection of comedians. 2 drink minimum most nights, ends up about $20 for 2 drinks, but they dont skimp on size or quality. Feels like a classic comedy club, every seat is good, no heckling, respectful crowd there to see comedy.
Most important they had A/C seating was tight but comfortable you are up and close to the comedians drinks were good and fairly priced. In all it made for a good night
They attract some big names in stand-up, and have great shows. Theyre quick and often to remind you that theres a two drink minimum. The cocktails are junk, and about $14 each. Just think of it as +$30 to the admission price
Drink glasses were dirty and only filled part way. Wine tasted watered down, but this isn’t the place for good food or drink. Unfortunately, the sound quality was poor, so understanding the comedian was difficult. A paid photographer for the place kept standing in front of us. And show was short, less than 90 minutes. Parking in the area is $20 for 2 hours.
I love the Comedy Club! They bring in all the big names in stand up as well as the up and coming. Its a classic comedy club in that its in a basement. Youre crammed in. Sitting mostly on hard metal folding chairs. Must buy 2 drinks. They keep trying to find a better way to serve folks. Few munchies available on menu. Beer pretzels are yummy snack. There are free nights and open Mic night. If you love comedy, you gotta support our comedy clubs and our hard-working traveling comedians.
I feel like I am in a secret comedy club down stairs. We have been on Tuesdays for open mic, Jordan was hilariously funny. We have seen all of the comedy greats here. Typically a 2 drink minimum, but that is perfect and the snacks are great too. Love it here.
Its one of the best comedy clubs in San Diego and a great vibe with it being underground. It just kind of sucks how much money you typically have to end up spending with the two drink minimum. But still a great place.
I had a great time at the American Comedy Co. last night with a few friends, I always love popping in on a Tuesday for free and seeing new talent. They also get big names which I also love. :)
Best club in the state, if you have a bad time here you hate comedy and you should question your life choices. See alot of complaints on the 2 drink min. Every comedy club has a 2 drink min. Comedy store, improv, laugh factory etc... love this spot small and big headliners. I wish my staph was as awesome as theirs. I needed medication and it was super itchy. The clubs staff are people and bring you drinks. Be sure to ask for a rope Roy cocktail! It doesnt exist and they wont know what it means.
Always a blast!! Kind of tight with the sardine seating, but you forget it once the comics begin. Weve been 3 times in the last two months and it wont be our last!!
BEWARE. Purchased tickets online do not guarantee seats. We showed up to the venue with a line outside the door. When we got to the front of the line there was a couple in front of us who had also bought their tickets online and they turned us away. They were oversold. The employee then told us we could come back for the 10:30 pm show and our tickets would still be valid. We made it a priority to show up earlier around 10:00 pm. However, apparently the show started at 9:30 so the doors were already closed. Im not sure if the employee didnt care or was simply incompetent of what was going on.Hopefully when we reach out to the venue we can receive our money back, which was the other option the employee gave us when turned away. Not sure if he was making that up either or not.
Bill Bellamy show was great; This is my daughter and I second time attending. The performances are always great ,but the food never ceases to be nothing but cold and horrible. The irony is that it only took them 10 mins to bring out the food and it was still cold. There items are over priced for the service you are getting and you must buy 2 items, so there is no way around it. My rating is only for the Acts I have been to. The venue and food services I would only give 1 star.
I purchased 4 tickets for the Friday night show. When we showed up I was told they didn’t have 4 seats together and we would have to all sit individually, which is absurd so we asked if we could move the tickets to Saturday night or get a refund. The manager said she couldn’t do anything and to email the link in the website. So I did and received a generic reply that night. Monday I get another email that states “Hello, Unfortunately, we have a no refund or transfer policy, and you decided to forfeit your tickets.” To top things off I found out they were giving free tickets away that day before noon and sat those people over the ones that paid! So if you buy tickets for a group be prepared to sit by yourself!!!
The atmosphere was awesome. The Aviance was great. The staff pleasant A great place to enjoy yourself. Had that speak easy vibe. I can see people doing multiple things there ie poetry night/ karaoke and comedy and so much more. The menu look good had the fries with bleu cheese didnt seen to go together for me
Pretty cool place. Venue is underground. Servers are running around with their heads cut off , so if you need something make sure to get their attention. Pretty good selection on the menu. Prices are okay, average for downtown I guess.
By all means, definitely go for the show! The show was great! Two stars because the lady seating us was RUDE and had a bad bad attitude. We were in the front of the line, when we got to the room only 3 rows were filled. The lady tried to seat us in a corner with blocked view and no table. When I asked if we could sit at one of the many many open seats in a normal area, she started rolling her eyes huffing and puffing giving an attitude. We ended up sitting on the 5th row and she was mad like we didn’t pay or something . And let me tell ya, that was a huge BUZZKILL!Honestly, we’re all here to have fun. Holding an attitude really isn’t the way to do it imo.
Good place with a more intimate vibe. Only downside is that its mandatory to have 2 drinks per person. What if I dont consume alcohol? Seems a bit ridiculous in my opinion.. Should say consume at least $20 or something along the lines
Great performers but the venue leaves MUCH to be desired. Table service is the worst in San Diego...they might offer more menu options than other comedy clubs but they WILL burn most their offerings. Pretzels and sliders definitely will be served blackened. And the manager will send the cocktail waitress over to tell you they always burn the food...
I was about to buy tickets to a show here, Im not ashamed to say Im on a tight budget right now. I was totally fine paying $18 for the show, thats a good price for San Diego, but I see in the fine print there is a two drink minimum... I dont not drink so that would be a complete waste of money for me. And Im sure not trying to spend $10 on two pineapples juices just to watch some comedy. Not to mention what if a recovering alcohol wants to go see some comedy? This is just a stupid rule to have. Raise your ticket prices a few bucks and let people buy or not buy as many drinks as they please. I will not be attending this theatre.
Good venue with seating for small groups. They usually do two seatings a night with a host and 2+ guest acts. The headliners are often from popular shows or movies. 2 drink minimum and appetizer style eats are served efficiently. Make sure your group shows up on time as seating is first come first serve for your whole party (reservation).
This place rules my favorite club so far. It’s clean, a dope vibe plus the comics are 1st class. Im about to see Bryan Callen and it’s going to be a amazing time. If your cool you’ll dig this place.
Free open mic with some decent comedians on Tuesdays but dont come hungry as they only have french fries and wings on the menu!
The comedy was great (although the mc was super awkward and not funny). Seats were ok. Intimate venue. The drinks were just meh though. Wish they had a better selection because you have to order two. The price of a drink was about $8. The cookie dough desert needed to be cooked more. It was pretty gross.
