Great venue! Great drinks! Lively staff!.I met the owner and the VIP coordinator, we made a reservation for a friends birthday and a friends wedding reception and they gave us a complete preferential treatment with two tables and complimentary champagne. Made us feel very valued as guests and made sure we had the best possible experience. We gives props and thanks to the security for ensuring that nobody bothered us for our private party. And we look forward to coming again.Thank you Jack and Orean for your hospitality.
This venue introduced me to electronic music way back in 2014 and has been my favorite venue to attend and discover new music. Love the visual led wall they have and insane lighting. Awesome venue with dope artists, one of my favorite places to party at!
Been here a few times now. Although I do like some of the acts that come through, I dont really like this venue that much. The main stage can get really, really packed and uncomfortable. The room is really wide, but its short in length so viewing the DJ from the side is not an option. I do like how they give free water though instead of charging $4 for a little bottle of Fiji water.
Very large bar with two separate dance floors. One area is a more EDM focused stage while the other side of the bar is a 21+ zone with a bar and a stage with more traditional dance party songs. Nice to have both options, however while I enjoyed the music and dance floor there were very few places to sit and the drinks were not extremely well made.
There are a couple rooms you can go to, each with a different DJ. It was nice to be able to mix it up. One room felt like an underground dance party and the other one had more lights and lasers. We had a booth near the bar and we ended up breaking our $700 bottle of alcohol. It took forever to be able to find someone who could help clean it up.
Not a very big fan of the venue itself but they have by far the best music for my taste and as such its the only place I ever go downtown. If other places had the same music, though, Id probably go there instead. Gets really really hot in there at a packed show.
Absolute garbage. the drinks are on the most expensive side(even for downtown). The staff is dismissive, careless, and down right rude. The talent they hire here are borderline terrible, constantly changing the volume on accident and messing up transitions on multiple occasions with multiple DJs. On top of that, the dress code only applies to guys so if you planned on wearing shorts so that you dont sweat your butt off, try again. I will never return to this place and Ill make sure nobody else does either.
My boyfriend and I had a great time here. The tickets were super cheap for really big EDM musicians. We saw Cazzette. I suggest buying online in advance. We got into the club pretty quickly. We went early and it wasnt very crowded at first. Its a really beautiful space. Later it was super, super crowded and we were by the walk way so we kept being bumped but no one was rude or anything. Wear comfortable shoes there is absolutely no place to sit. We had a really nice time. The drinks were expensive of course but thats with any club. I cant wait to go back!
The venue is fantastic, finding the entrance was another story. It appears Google has somewhat corrected the address, but this is a place where the entrance and the exit are in different places. You go past the address specified as the location, take the first left, and the entrance is in the middle of the block on your left. There is no parking associated with the venue, but Valet, street, and pay parking are nearby.Bassmt is a huge place, and it seems to go on forever with room after cool room.
This club caters to the EDM crowd and such is frequented by ravers. That said, i find people here are super friendly compared those you might find in omnia for example which is a bit too upscale and and uptight. However there is a separate section inside for those who are looking for regular club music which gets pretty lit as well. Finally the cost of admission is a steal if you buy online compared to other clubs. In my opinion, the best club with great value, great crowd and something for everyone.
If you love BASS music, Saturday @ Bassmnt is 100% the place to be in San Diego.1 - Loud space that lets you get close to the DJ booth, good for pictures2 - The lighting and effects are also pretty good for the size of venue3 - You cant drink on the dance floor - Some people dont like this, but I appreciate not having drinks dumped on me4 - Again - BASS - Ive seen some really awesome DJs (love you Ghastly!) there for not much $$5 - The staff. They are highly professional, helpful, and good people
$25 charge and theres 2 main DJ stages: 21+ and anything below. We went around 11pm on a Friday night and the 21+ stage was dead but the other side was alright except its really for teenagers with hip hop music instead of club/electronic. Expensive drinks. Ended up leaving to another club
Got in free on the Guest List to see Mimosa here and was pretty stoked. Being from the south, Im not used to dressing up like its prom to see EDM....its actually solely about the music for us. Apparently wearing heels to see your favorite DJ is what people do here. Anyway, the drinks were way over priced for the quality. I liked the size of the dance floor and the vibe of the place. The quality of the sound and lights were also on point. The staff seemed fairly decent and were quick to stop any violence that broke out. Again, being from Louisiana, we dont fight in EDM clubs so....not sure what that was about. My BIGGEST issue was that THE CLUB STOLE MONEY from us. We spent roughly $134ish on drinks (rediculous) at this bar and put that amount on our debit card. Woke up the next day only to see an additional SEPARATE payment of $162 had been charged to our account that we did NOT authorize or sign/see a receipt for . Tried calling the club to handle it outside of the bank. They gave us the run around saying the manager would call us back. After two weeks passing and no such call or concern about our rather large fraud issue coming from the manager we had to file the charge as a fraudulent claim against the club. Had this issue been resolved in a suitable and concerning matter on their end we might be going back, but not anymore. Im definitely looking into friendlier places to go. These people need to learn what the heck customer service means. Also, maybe not rob people blind.
The venue is small and cozy which is nice but if your 18 and up the cover should be cheaper for 21+. To drink this is one of the most expensive bars in San Diego and they really need to send their girls to bar tending school. Ordered a double titos and orange juice and can tell you 100% it had less than a shot of vodka. My buddys Moscow mule tasted like water in a glass with mint in the glass and my 2 jager bombs had half the red bull that even a bad bar provides. 10/10 would strictly stick to beer or straight shots here. The price of drinks is outrageous and the bar tenders are not trained.
Beware this place. My girlfriend and I went with some friends to go see Fetty Wap and arrived at 10:30pm. We stood at the front of the stage for 3 hours waiting for Fetty to come on, and at 1:30am, he still hadnt started. By that time, 2 of our friends phones had been stolen, so we got over it and left. I guess the gimmick of this place is to have the artists perform just before 2am so that the audience will buy as much alcohol before the curfew, followed by a half-ass set by whoever is performing there. This place is sleazy as hell. Dont waste your money.
Great building, lighting, mood. Near plenty of parking spaces if driving and uber/lyft worthy! Two main dance areas: main(drum and bass artists w bit of EDM) and a pure rap/hip hop space.Cons: Main dance floor - weird table setup makes the floor unstructured and weirdRap - maybe a one day thing (DJ kept changing song every 10 seconds which sucks especially when everyone come back to the floor and prevents any kind of flow building note: we tried many times to be patient).PS: Didnt try out the bar or drinks. So cant give that view
My friends and I go to bassmnt very often as it is the only 18 and over club in downtown sd and we all love coming here every time! staff is friendly but strict when need be. If there is a fight or argument-staff shows up immediatly to resolve it. It can get super hot in there, but they have free water which fixes the overheating problem. Dj line up has always been amazing! dance floor is huge and even when it gets crowded its very fun!
I had an okay time but I had a few important concerns, when you go through there is no metal detector or security guard to check our bags. Anyone could bring anything in ie, guns, weapons and obviously drugs( if you don’t like the smell of weed DONT go inside ) it was hard to feel safe. Security guards were more concerned about keeping people out of the booths than anything. Also it’s hard to dance because there was a mosh pit the whole night. It would make me feel better if they at least had a metal detector or checked bags. Also it has a terrible rotten poop like smell by the booths.
Out of all of the bars in San Diego this one is the most dumpy while having the ego of a vegas night club. Overpriced drinks made by bartenders that cant make even the most simple cocktails. They claim to have a large variety in what they bring to their venue as far as music goes but really its all tired and over played out acts that were the hype over two years ago. Save your money and go to somewhere like Omnia or Onyx in SD. Theyre only response is that Im bitter from DJing there, but that just goes to show that they could care less about their attendees and audience. If they were truly professional they would have had a decent response to what I was saying, but as you can see below thats clearly not the case..
Lots of big edm talent pass through on the weekends. Bassmnt is really the only dedicated option for bass music in Downtown San Diego on Saturdays.Table service is always the best part when i go. No matter where the table is the staff is very quick and always have a smile on their face.Anytime i’m in Downtown San diego, and I want to have a for sure good time I know Bassmnt is an easy option and tickets online are so cheap. Even if me and my friends don’t get a table it is an easy affordable way to have a blast in Downtown San Diego
This place isnt what it use to be we bought a $750 bottle service and ended up not being able to get back to our booth due to the bouncer stating that we were done BS. and then staff really rude you would expext a nice some what elegant area for that kind of money but this time it felt so classless and cheap. Ive been here a couple times but this time will probably be the last . I really dont recommend it.
Nice sound system. Tickets are generally very affordable and its fun to rage my head off for 5 hours on a Friday night. Anything edm that comes to san diego is likely to be here. Staff is ok. $9 for a beer though? Ffffffff- off with that nonsense. On a more serious note- the lack of security (beyond tackling anyone who gets a little too rowdy) is extremely concerning. No metal detectors and no bag checks. Recent violent events in the United States are at the front of everyone’s minds now. Hope you consider security more seriously, Bassmnt management.
Dont go to the concerts.Went to see a Post Malone concert. It started at 9pm and Post didnt go on until 1:30am. He proceeded to play 4ish songs. This would have been fine if they had stated that it was more of him showing up for 10 minutes, but no, they decided to charge $30-$100 depending on when you got your ticket. Ended up standing for 4.5 hours listening to each DJ play the same songs as the others in their sets. By the time Post actually got on, it was impossible to see him because people were climbing on the fixtures and each others shoulders obscuring the view.In short, the venue really screwed everyone over by advertising it as a concert and charging as much as they did. It just felt really sloppy.
It was ok dancing. More techno music that Hip Hop and rap, need to understand that it aint coachella inside a venue. Need to switch the music and promoted better. Not many 21+ dancing, but a lot of 18+ dancing with what they got.
Bassmnt is an awesome, small club that features the hottest names in bass/dubstep/trap music. This review is from the perspective of an EDM fan who goes to Bassmnt only for specific shows. It’s the only club in town that regularly brings in top DJs like SVDDEN DEATH, Virtual Riot, Spag Heddy, etc. Tickets for those shows are usually around $20, which is great. Inside it can get a bit packed, but the crowd is always hype and into the music and friendly.
Sounds not the best. After about an hour it starts to smell like comic Con and smoke machines. Drinks are very expressive. But I did have a good time.
One of my favorite places downtown, where I can have a blast without having to feel like I need to dress up. Ive seen quite a few DJs I love really close up. Why not 5 stars? ITS TOO FRIKKING HOT, get some AC or fans up in here guys.
The venue itself is OK, if not great. It attracts the SDSU party crowd though. I was there to see MitiS and when he got on some drunk girl kept yelling at him to play trap.
If I could give it no stars I would. It is my least favorite place on all of the west coast. I have worked at clubs for years, and the way these people run things is shameful. A friend of mine was assaulted, and then kicked out. They claimed both parties had to leave, but I saw the guy get brought right back in... Its a boys club, and if your not on the in watch your back.... I would never go back, even if they comped us and didnt kick my friend out.... Tis was the icing on a gross string of cake I have eaten every time I go to this club......... Dont waste your time,.
Small underground club. They now have 3 dance floors with different types of music. Love the new green grass background with LED light signs on the new dance floor. Came here for Ilan Blustone performance.
Bassmnt has given me my worst concert experience ever and Ive been to plenty of shows over the years. They advertised a Post Malone concert and it was very hyped with tickets up to $100 each selling out fast. But Post Malone came on at 1:30 and played 4 songs for only 10 minutes. Whether this was at the fault of the artist or the venue does not excuse why bassmnt is a shady business. I left a complaint on their Instagram and I was blocked. My girlfriend complained on Instagram and Twitter and was blocked on both. Ive seen other people complaining about the same issue. Dont try to hide your mistake bassmnt. Own up to the fact that you scammed people. Everyone who paid to be at that show deserves a full refund and an apology.
Pretty awesome place. Two dancefloors and all the staff were friendly. Got along well the security guards and their drinks were pretty good.
Its layout is pretty nice. I didnt like having to walk up the stairs after dancing all night, but aside from that it was a fun place to come with my friends.
There is really nothing to like about this club. The layout is horrible, the staff is 3rd rate and the main room is dangerously crowded. For a $1,000 minimum plus tip we were give a bottle of Grey Goose and a cheap brut (Chandon). Keep it Moving Bassmnt.
1) horrible security, we’ve got a table but we had to be around it all the time Bc every second someone is trying to steal something2) naked ppl on a dancefloor3) DJ, they don’t play music they just run subwoofer test tracks
Kinda cool venue for music. No stage though. Young crowd but they were ok, not bad like a lot of the reviews here say (went on a Thursday)
Multi dancfloor club, nice vibe, not so cheap drinks, but what can you expect in DTSD... Good djs on a weeklyBasis, and youll get lucky if you can find a promoter giving free entrance cards. Only thing I dislike is you lose cell signal in the BASSMNT. Such a fitting name lol
Ever since Voyeur went under Bassmnt has filled the gap between high end club (FLUXX) and middle of the road club. To its benefit Bassmnt has a much larger square footage than Fluxx and a much more laidback demographic. Spaces can get tight in the main room and AC can still be an issue for the more high energy shows it tends to host. Good club to give Fluxx a run for its money and arguably the best talent in SD.
This place is tougher than immigration. A lot of unnecessary checkpoints. It made me sober. You can’t take drinks here , dance there yada yada . This is work... ughhh I’m not coming back to this place .But for now , I go dance...
Nightclub sort of bar. Very loud with entertainment going. Can be crowded. If looking to dance then this could be your place. Tight spaces.
It was about a 6 or 7 out of 10, just depends on whos heading. I liked that they had free water 😂 Its sort of small, obviously because its called Bassmnt, but it gets hot so the water was helpful.
This place is whack! The bartenders cannot make a drink to save their life, the bouncers spend more time harassing women than watching for issues, and $8-9 for a beer? Smd
Always make it a point to go to Bassmnt when I’m in San Diego. Great open environment, amazing djs/performers, and a super friendly staff. Definitely check this place out!
Loved it, they get all the new acts through and everyone is very nice and pleasant. Young energetic crowd I absolutely loved it.
I gave this a 3 because I think Omnia Night Club is a 5 star, and comparing all aspect everything. Bassmnt is worthy of a 3 star rating. Enjoy!
The good musuc is 18, you have to not drink to listen to it. The 21 areas have super lame music playing.
Nice small decent venue. drinks kinda pricey. The place got a tad bit stuffy.
Too expensive for just a couple of hours. Music was terrible, DJ today wouldnt mix up genres at all. If youre under 21. Save 40 bucks by NOT going here.
This place has good artists, but it was always really packed and had too many people.
No doubt the best underground dance club San Diego has. There is never a not happening day at this place.
Good acts, but crowd is too young (18+) which ruins the pit every time
If you enjoy a bunch of teenagers grinding against each other and trying to act cool by smoking cigarettes inside... This is the place for you!
If you lose your ID they take so long to respond to you that by the time they do they say they gave your ID to SDPD and that you need to buy a new one
I was there last night and it was excellent...best of all - NEW DJ TALENT - Like that !!!
What’s the point of having a service number when no one ever answers? It would have been helpful to have someone actually pick up when I had questions for a particular event. 🖕🏻
As a promoter, I can honestly say this is one of the best clubs in downtown San Diego.
I absolutely loved this place every time I went there. Great atmosphere, service, drinks, and DJs
It is over priced and if your are under 21 the dj doesnt change the genre of music at all
This place is too small with too many strict rules, not being aloud to wear shorts, tank tops, or hats is ridiculous.
Music was horrible and dj sucked. San Diego had one of the worst party promotions ever.
Nice Club with good Acts. The Bars at the Mainstage are without Alcohol
Oversell presale tickets and then make you wait in an hour long line. Don’t buy tickets for this place.
Nice club with many great artists coming down. A little too crowded
Other than the lack of places to sit, this place was epic to see one of my favorite DJs.
I went to see Rich the Kid and he performed the same song twice. He only played 4 songs
So I guess that I can go in and be 20 but cant go smoke even though its legal for me being military
I would like to talk to ur manager or surpviser. About night club dance floor.
Really cool idea for Club. Great music as well
Worst place to go if your not a gangster, this place allows a lot of gangsters in and they jump you when you get outside.
Tables need to be more closed off. but a great ass time!
Music was trash. But atmospherea wass nice.
Good for the 18+ crowd. Pretty sick djs.
If high schoolers weren’t allowed this would be the best place in SD.
Good vibes, good electronic music, best DJs
Ok music. Wayvtoo overpriced drinks. Too much guys.....
The best place for dance and muchhh more
Nice place, really big. Staff is friendly.
Has an interesting layout with different rooms.
Terrible music. Its some type of weird dubstep
Amazing atmosphere, love the look of the place.
This’s my favorite one for under 21!
What a dump club. Good music but jeez!
Too much fun! Every. Single. Show.
Great place to have some fun ! ! !
Unfriendly staff. Weirdos all up in here

Wow! Just wow!
Best club in sd!
Thanks for the text message marketing.

A nice little venue.
They know how to party
Fun enough.
