There are two sides to Fifth Ave but..Let me rave about this special! Wednesdays you need to be at Fifth Ave, not only do they have an incredible patio but on Wednesdays you get a smash burger and a bottle beer for $5. You cannot beat this special. Add a massive order of fries for $3.My new go to place on Wednesday!
I had a really good experience with this place. There were very friendly and there were a lot of activities going on. There were ping pong tables as well as many other other bar games going on. The ping pong is what really stood out for me though. This place has a high capacity. There is even a 2nd floor, which can get pretty hype from what I hear. While I did not eat here, I heard that the food is pretty average. It did look good though.Overall, this place has good nightlife.
The management sucks, the bouncer at the front door let his friend go in with rip jeans. And I was right behind him and he didn’t let me go in cause I had rip jeans on and they weren’t even rip jeans lol. What a Joke this place is. Beside that I seen and witnessed a minor tipping the bouncer money underneath his ID and the bouncer let him pass and go in. The owner needs to take further action.
Came here with my man last night around 7 to play pool. He orders us drinks and I noticed my lemon drop martini tasted a little funny, but I’m like I always think something tastes funny. Kept drinking it and as the drink got lower, I noticed that the lemon inside my glass looked dark on one side of it. It was dark by the table so I had to go over to the light to see. There was mold on the lemon!! I couldn’t believe it! There is no way someone didn’t see that before putting it into my glass. How? If you can’t pay enough attention to put a moldy lemon in someone’s drink, you need to be fired!! The server was really nice tho, had been since we walked in, and apologetic. She got the manager to come over and he comped our drinks and pool play. So if you decide to go here check your drinks before you drink them!
Your typical sports bar. Went on a Sunday afternoon so place was fairly empty. Food choices are limited but got boneless wings, Flatbread pizza and macaroni and cheese bites. Food was decent. Our server Meghan was very attentive and stopped by frequently.
Short. white bald man at the door didn’t let my friend in wearing a white t shirt but let the guy in front of us wear a white hoodie. absolutely unbelievable. and dare i say racist. asked if he can zip up his black leather jacket and he said no even thought the white tshirt would be covered.
Love this place, love the atmosphere.I didnt appreciate. One of the bartenders charging me more money.I bought one drink from a gentleman then I brought the same drink from a young lady at a different price The man overCharged me so...He will not be my bartender again when I go back. I will remember his face.
I came in with my girlfriend for a good time , we sat at our seats for 20 minutes , ams no one came to our table , I observed 6 people who came in after us and they were seated and served . I asked the waitress why were we overlooked , she said she saw us sitting there and really could not explain why she didn’t come over to us , but, if we wanted to go to the bar feel free to . She was very rude and, obnoxious!!!! Her name is Champayne
Been going here for years. They always take care of me, which is why this is the choice for us when we get a booth. I’ve spent thousands in this club, celebrated many, many special occasions, and we always have a good time. I’ve met countless fun and interesting people here. Will continue to come here. I always bring my checkbook, but you don’t have to. You can spend $20 or you can spend $2000.
I remember the first time I walked into this place was the summer of 1994. I just got my new 1995 Mazda MX3, and I moved in with my two roommates Jeff and Jeff @940 East Fourth street. I have a lot of good memories there. I loved how they had a lot of live music on floor number two. The sad part was trying to get a drink. You had to walk across the street to get one.So fast forward to now, it has new owners the Yezbicks. Great people to know. Still a great place to hang out
I attended a retirement party, and it was set up well by the staff and owner. I would recommend this place for any fun event.
Very discriminatory, will let girls who puke up but will chose people who they please to not let up because they are too “drunk”
I wouldn’t recommend this bar/club. Got charged $54 for three shots. Which was wrong. Told the bartender. He wanted to give us more shots. We said we didn’t want more shots. We want 3 shots and our money back for being over charged... Told the bouncer and next thing we know we got kicked out. This place is ALWAYS getting away with things like this and im tired of it. Fifth is definitely over hyped. And not worth it and the dj sucks... but we did nothing wrong. Just wanted my 3 shots and my money back. Stop going to fifth Avenue. Everything is over priced and it’s honestly not worth it. Please stop supporting this place. Bouncers get away with putting their hands on you for doing nothing. And cops back them up 100% of the time when they are in the wrong. Doesn’t matter what it is. And its sad.
$5.00 Burger and a Beer. What a deal. Its a Wednesday only special, The burger is a classic. Thick slice of tomato, thick slice of onion, four thick pickle slices, fresh lettuce, cheese, large toasted bun and a quality large patty of meat. At an upscale restaurant a $13.00 value. Plenty of Napkins, silverware and served by a really nice staff. Plus a cold bottle of Coors.I stopped in last week when I saw the sign outside, it was good enough that I promised myself Id go back this week to see if was still a deal. It was. The other food is good also, but this burger and a beer deal is the best Ive found in Royal Oak. Its really the kind of deal I shouldnt tell anyone about, before I know it, Ill have to stand in line to get in the place on a Wednesday night.
Before warned this place rips people off. Friends ordered bottle service no listed prices anywhere. These prices are gauging customers. For a 750ml bottle of Tito’s Vodka that retails for 22.95 this place charged me $350. The price of the Casamigos Tequila 750ml that retails for 55.95 they charged me $495. After receiving bill asked where these prices are listed they couldn’t locate the prices in any menu at the bar or on the floor they couldn’t locate one on the floor for consumers to know what they were being charged. After continue discussion they said it was in the POS system. When pressed for documentation on pricing the owner says it was market price I asked where this was. They asked the bartender to bring the menu out which he did which no show no documentation. I continued to ask if they have this written somewhere. They couldn’t produce anything so they said they had to go their office. So one of the what to appeared to be a partner went into back office for about 10 mins I waited for them to bring out their so “called menu”. They produced a menu that looked nothing like any of their other menus with pricing that matched the pricing they charged. I asked why these weren’t out in the public domain they had no answer. All along the owner wanted to berate me and say this is normal and obviously you have never been to Vegas. Because in Vegas you would pay $600. Having a subpar bar in Royal Oak is now equivalent to having a bar in Vegas. Needless to say this review is cautionary tale for those that might want to attend this bar a first step in many I will take in making these crooks understand that gauging customers is unacceptable.
Great place to watch sports with lots of televisions. Not a place for food, wine, or classy women. No wine, fun drinks, or food with flavor. Bring your cash to the restroom as there are frequently people charging for paper towels. The place smells like a hangover, sticky floors, and old cigarettes. Leave this place for the 20 somethings with their tight black jeans and white sneakers.
I honestly wasn’t sure about this place but it turns out to be a great place to hang out with friends! There was enough room for us to set our drinks down and not feel crowded. The dance floor was really fun upstairs too! The staff is very outgoing and wants to give you a great experience. Also, the food is great and they sell pizza at 1am by the slice. Check out this place if you are in the area!
Avoid at all costs. Rude, racist, and disrespectful bouncer. Turned my group of four away because he said the black members of our group are sagging their pants. They were not. We all had jeans on WITH belts and even offered to pull them up higher.Very unprofessional way to operate a business. I can see why it was so dead in there compared to the other bars on the street. Dont even bother stopping by if you see this bouncer out front.
I dont think ive ever experienced such blatant homophobia in my life than I did spending 40 minutes at this restaurant. After we were seated, we werent sure if we had to go up to the bar to get our drinks, considering this is in the middle of arts, beats and eats festival. Protocols might be different and there were a few customers already. We found out that a waitress would come over and take out orders. So me and my wife sat at our table and waited. We waited for almost 10 minutes before we tried to flag down a waitress so she could take our order. She would respond in a way that promised she would get around to us.So we continued to wait.My wife was trying to be kind enough to give this place an excuse abt maybe being understaffed or they might just be too busy. But i started looking around and noticed that groups of ppl that showed up way later than we did. All had a table full of drinks- variations of half full and half empty... meaning they had those drinks long enough to reach the bottom of the glass. At this point me and my partner are getting frustrated. We had (what i assumed) to be the boss come around and tell us someone will be there shortly. We continue to wait and while we wait, we watched multiple waitress pass our table multiple times and help every other person around us.Other girls would show up and the boss would tell them to serve us, but one would make an excuse that she had to leave and the other would just not even listen.Yes, we are in ear shot of all of this and are both watching as this poor guy almost pleads to these women to come to our table. When it finally looks like someone agrees. The man leaves and I watch as the girl who agreed to serve us walk to a different table. My wife gets fed up, so we grab out things and go. The man comes up to us and convinces us to give them another chance. We tell him that we dont want to sit around for another 20 minutes. He offers us a complimentary free drink for the trouble, so we decided to go back.Again, we continue to wait until the boss man makes our drinks himself. He reassures us that someone will be coming for the rest of our order. We didnt even plan on ordering food but my wife wanted another kind of drink.Again, we waited for someone to come around and finally take the other drink order my wife wanted.By the time my partner got her drink, she just wanted to leave due to how uncomfortable everything felt. When a waitress finally came to us so we could pay and leave. she had the audacity to ask who helped us during our 40 minutes of waiting for someone to even acknowledge us.It honestly got to a point where I felt more embarrassed for the man who was literally begging the pathetic staff to serve us during the whole thing.I would expect this kinda service in Florida, definitely not in Michigan. If you got to this point of this review.TLDR- dont go to this place if youre gay
Definitely a younger crowd kinda bar/pool hall
Such a fun place to spend your weekends, great atmosphere food, drinks, and staff. My server Melissa was attentive, incredibly helpful and one of the best servers I’ve had. She hustles to get what her customers want. Highly recommend the fish bowl!
Great atmosphere and great place to be on any day of the week especially weekends. I had melissa as my server and she was phenomenal.. always made sure our drinks were filled and anything we wanted, we had it quickly. I definitely recommend Melissa for your next visit!
We love this place! Megan coordinated our engagement party and did such a great job. She was so sweet and helpful through the entire process and went above and beyond to make sure the day went perfect. Their prices are extremely reasonable and they have a great security team and food/drink selections.
Its an awesome bar for people in their early 20s to go mingle and have fun. Theres not too much of an older crowd. 5th Avenue has plenty of space and pool tables to keep you entertained. The downsides to this bar is. They maintain a strict dress code, and you must pay an entry fee if you want to go to the club upstairs.
The hamburger special was a great price and good. I ordered spring rolls, which were good, too. Nice to sit outside and enjoy the view. Our server was great.
Melissa was my server and she was the best! She’s so personable and friendly. She got our drinks and food out right away and continuously checked up on us. Everything tasted great. I’ll definitely be back!
Had a great time Saturday! Our waitress Melissa was amazing. She made sure everyone had what they needed at all times and was very quick! I highly recommend if your planning on going here to ask for her!
Finally came here for the first time and I absolutely LOVED it! The chicken caesar wrap was the best Ive ever had and the music was great too! Jacque made the whole experience amazing. She took such good care of me and my friends and Im definitely coming back soon and asking for her. She was super friendly and personable which I loved!
Great bar, especially on the weekends, and very good food. The staff is always friendly. Ive had Jacque as a server multiple times and she is fantastic! Make sure to ask for her if you are ever there. Top notch!
Every time my friends come home to visit, this is the first place I always bring them. We love our usual server Jacque! She always recommends the best food and drinks. Shes attentive, informative, and always happy to see us!
I went to fifth yesterday and I had the most amazing time. I had melissa as my server and she was so sweet. She made sure everything was perfect and that we were having a good time. Great DJ and great food! I definitely reccomend coming and requesting her as your server!
Easily the most fun bar to visit when I’m home from college! I love that the downstairs has a fun sports bar vibe and you can go upstairs for a more club-y experience. The door staff is always friendly and the bartenders and servers are great. Highly recommend if you’re looking for somewhere to go with you’re friends in the area!
Good food and service and fun atmosphere, especially on the weekends! Theres an arcade basketball hoop and a couple pool tables too.
Hands down the best bar in the area. Highly recommend that you ask for melissa as your server. She is very quick with getting your food/drink orders to you and the sweetest ever! She made my experience 100 times better.
They told me multiple woman accused me of touching them when I had two beers in my hands and said I was with a group of buddies and weve been together all night. The place makes up random reasons to throw people out when over crowded. They let people keep coming in and just randomly select people to throw out when the night ends up having to many people packed. Didnt let me finish my beer and didnt give me a chance to defend my self. Bounce just acted unprofessional and aggressional. IT LOOKED LIKE A FUN PLACE TO HAVE A GOOD NIGHT. FIRST TIME HERE AND LAST AWFUL EXPERINCE AND I SEE WHY EVERY ONE SAID PREVIOUSLY ON GOOGLE REVEIWS ABOUT THE LACK OF PROFESSIONLISM
First time I’ve ever been to 5th Avenue was the other night. We had a great time! Mostly because Jackie was one of the best servers I have ever had! She made the whole experience wonderful, went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of all night. I don’t think I had an empty drink all night. If you find yourself in Royal Oak, go to 5th Ave and ask for Jackie!
The other reviews about discrimination are not exaggerated. I’ve never been a victim of discrimination here but I have witnessed other groups get discrimination upon denied entrance. The drink portions here are abysmal and the prices sky high even for royal oak standards. The venue is clean on the interior but the discrimination and pricing make it an unwelcome past time. Also please notice how the ownership does not respond to any negative or positive comments on google. That is a red flag for customer care.
Went a few weeks ago and Jacque took care of us. She was excellent, our drinks were never empty, and she really made the night amazing. I will hands down ask for her every time I come back!
Melissa was my server for the night and she was amazing! Drinks were out super quick and she had such a great energy! Also 5th has great music and drinks. Would definitely come back again.
My fish was spoiled. The waitress never came back after our order. Someone else gave us our food and water. we asked for lemon for our water, and we got one slice for two people, and my bill was the same
Unfortunately, they are not part of ROs Social District! Bouncer heavy place had me empty out my water cup, but let me keep ice after some common sense. We all used next door for festival beverages. Pies have been okay when nothing else is open.
Went to Fifth a couple of times with some friends. Always go earlier for the food and then nightlife after. Our server each time was this girl named Jacque. Anytime you go, try to find HER. She’s super nice, attentive, and will go out of her way to make sure you have a good time at Fifth! ❤️
Its a really young crowd. Im of a more mature age. Fine for some bar snacks.
This is a nice place for a bite to eat and watch a game. Large portions and good ingredients. Theres also pool tables, darts, and arcade hoops.
I Host a filmmaker artist and actor event here every second Tuesday of the month. If youre looking for the best place to hold an event in a bar/restaurant. Look for no farther this is it. They have ample space, great staff, theres indoor and outdoor space, also a VIP area upstairs, and another VIP area in the back of the first floor. They have plenty of pool tables on both levels. Theres plenty to do here. And plenty of space to create your own custom event.Ive been holding my events here for over 3 years now, and I cant recommend a better place in Royal Oak to hold a large event. Also try the Pizza. Its good trust me.Tellem Luke Castle sent you...(It wont do anything, but youll probably get a puzzle look, like who?)Anyways if youre here in Royal Oak this is your place. CHEERS 🍻
Everytime I come here melissa is my server. She is fast, attentive and overall a joy to be around. I love the fun atmosphere and playing pool. I come back for the great food and drinks and the amazing people. If you stop into fifth request mel
If I could give this business negative stars, I would. The staff is out of control and I was physically assaulted by a female bouncer for requesting a song. when i asked another bouncer to ask her to stop hitting me he told me there was nothing he could do.I have supported this bar for the past 5 years, since I turned 21. I have seen a lot of discrimination and abuse towards customers from staff over the years and never thought I would be a victim myself. It has been made VERY CLEAR to myself and others that this establishment does not care about their guests, they just want your money.please consider supporting ANY OTHER BUSINESS in Royal Oak. such a shame this place is even allowed to exist in this city. A disgrace and embarrassment for the city of Royal Oak to allow this bar to be open still after all the issues it has brought to our city.
To be own by polish and foreign born ancestors of America. Your establishment should be ashamed of yourselves. Your racist insensitive tactics towards minorities should be banned from business. You let white citizens in with attire that looks like they just woke up. I know it won’t, cause this is America where nobody cares about race but the oppressed.I lined up with my brothers and was ready to head in. I was then informed by the bouncers that my shorts didn’t suit the venue. I waited around long enough to other ethnic groups be let in.
Fifth Ave was so fun! It was my first time going to a club and I loved the experience. Melissa was amazing! She helped us out so much and got us everything we needed. Loved her and Fifth Ave!
I really like this bar! They have a nice outside bar with a great setup, fireplace around the lounge area as well as a closed in tint outdoors. I would recommend getting here around 8 to avoid the lines, they get pretty crowded. In order to get in you have to have a table or somewhere to sit, they dont let people in to just stand around with no where to sit. They close the latest out of all thr bars in the surrounding area. The food is good, drinks are amazing and the wait staff is very friendly. I would definitely recommend trying out.
After the worst date of my life I headed to Fifth Avenue to surprise my daughter. We had the best service from Jackie. She was upbeat, smiled alot and even laughed when I told her my story. Shes a keeper for sure!
I was bar-hopping with a friend on a Saturday night and we were walking up to the door. Guy at the door: theres a $10 cover. Me: great, whats the band? Guy: no band, we have the State game on the TV. Me: you realize that having TVs that show sports is not unique, right? Anyway, Im not paying $10 for the privilege of drinking overpriced beverages because there is a game on TV that I have zero interest in watching.I understand charging a cover when there is some sort of legitimate entertainment, but paying for the privilege of being in a place is for pretentious a-holes. Instead, I went to Gusoline Alley and had a blast.
This is a huge place with potential.. food has sooo much potential to great but it’s just mid!! The bar service is horrible. They don’t have the ability to make simple pina colada’s 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾.. This place lacks sum flavors in food and drinks!!
This bar was literally “off the chain!” I must’ve attended on some “pub crawl” day called “St Practice Day”? I don’t know, but there was an EPIC time to be had here! If by chance you didn’t have a great time here last night, I could only think it’s because you never had one of your friends kick you out of the chair!
The staff and bouncers are incredibly rude. I tried to get in at 9pm on a Friday night with 2 other friends, we already had 3 people inside waiting for us to join them. The place was empty there were a few people playing pool and sitting in booths but all the tables and chairs were still set up and empty. When we tried to get in the bouncers denied us and said that the doors were closed. I told them we were meeting people and there is almost no one inside why were the doors closed. His response was he didnt know but they were closed. Okay, so Im standing looking at my friends thru the windows told them we cant get in so they get up and ask the bouncers whats going on and why we couldnt get in. The bouncers mocked my friends telling them they should ask us why we cant get in. 10 minutes go by of back and forth asking why they wont let us in and next thing you know the doors are miraculously open again but now there is a cover charge (before 9:30pm). Myself and my 2 friends were the only people trying to get inside at this time and it was not busy. Once inside we were greeted by rude bartenders who watched us sit at the bar and look at them before turning their backs. It took an additional 15 minutes for them to come over and take our drink order. Again there was my 3 friends who had already been there and now an additional 3 for a total of 6 people at the bar. I cant emphasize how dead this place was between 9-9:30 to where this whole experience should not have happened. We ordered that one drink and left.
My daughter had her 30th birthday party at Fifth Avenue, it was amazing everyone had a great time. The staff was super friendly, warm, welcoming and very accommodating, Shout out to our host Megan and our server Alexandria, also to the guy who set up out Fajita bar( I didnt get your name...sorry)and to every one who helped may this special occasion memorable for us. We are not from the area but plan to visit again.
1st time there. This place is large. I stayed on bottom floor. Didnt know an dance floor and etc was upstairs until 1hr an half before bi left. Packed stayed lower level. Had an Nice time. Younger crown 30s 40s. Food was good also. I felt security was Top knock. I felt safe
Me and friends went for drinks this weekend amanda the bartender was extremely attentive, fast and efficient! Including her service with smiles the entire night. Amazing place to come and great staff!
I will start with the positive. The waitress was very nice. After that....well, she was poorly trained. Three of the drinks/food items we ordered were out of stock. She had to cut the orange for my husbands Blue moon herself. Why in the heck did she and NOT the bartender have to cut the orange. The food was poor quality. The looks of the place gives the illusion of quality food. The result was greasy coney island tasting food. The manager seemed great when he sat us but never came back to see how our experience was. We were very disappointed with our visit. We came in because we were on a time crunch and they looked less busy. We assumed that meant faster service. NOPE! We are now late... :(
Don’t know why they had such a big kitchen, microwaves are really small. The pretzels were like chewing a belt. The pizza was actually pretty good though. Overall wild that the food was as expensive as it was when most of it was obviously not made in house
Went here for a birthday celebration. Small selection as far as food and on the expensive side. Had to ask the waitress for a lot essentials that should have been provided. Vibe was ok.
Fun bar go to with nice staff. We went for a Harry Potter bar crawl, and had a lot of fun. They actually put alcohol in their mixed drinks compared to the other bars we stopped by. The environment is good and there are plenty of places to sit/stand.
I work for a local non-profit agency and we held a holiday party for 200 kids and families at Fifth Avenue in Royal Oak. It was spectacular and they happily stayed within our budget! The decor was festive and the staff was attentive and went above and beyond to help make it a memorable experience for all. I would highly recommend this venue!
Disgusting floor, horrible music, and the bouncer made me pay $40 for a friend and I (who was a girl) to get in. After I had some cash in my hand he proceeded to tell me I can’t come in and tried taking the money out of my hand thinking I’m drunk and wouldn’t notice it right in front of me. We had to chat him up to get in even after paying $40. AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU DON’T WANT A WASTED NIGHT. Read the other reviews and you’ll understand why this bar is quickly becoming known as the worst bar in royal oak.Update: I’ve tried calling multiple times and leaving messages but was not able to get in contact with anybody about the matter.
My favorite bar downtown. Good food and drinks. I love the club upstairs Jacque is always eager to serve me and my friends! She’s the best
This place is trash simply because of the people that work there. They always try to pick on whoever they want. The other night they let bunch of people go in with t shirts and shorts and then it got to our group and they stopped us and said you cant go in with jeans and t shirts. And one of them offered to let us in if we each pay 20 dollars. I have seen this happen many times. Spend your money somewhere else if you respect yourself.
Natalie and Elisabeth took great care of me on my 21st birthday with some friends!! They were kind, efficient, and always made sure we were taken care of!! Definitely made my 21st one to remember!!
Great bar atmosphere in Royal Oak.
Good outdoor hightop seating, pretty good selection if drinks, not too pricey. The guys working kinda forgot about us a couple times, because we were in a back corner outside, but they did apologize, and they were nice young guys. Eh, Id go back!
Pricey to get in, drinks are also pricey and not the strongest. Downstairs is busier than the upstairs dance club. Music was ok, I think Id rather go elsewhere for a fun night. But I will say its fairly clean. Bathrooms had someone to pass out what you needed.
Bouncers didn’t let my friend in because he was wearing a hoodie, yet I saw people wearing similar outfits everywhere. DJ was awful, and the crowd was lame with no one dancing. Spend your money elsewhere for a better time
The nonprofit I volunteer at hosted our annual fundraiser here and I cannot describe how disappointed we were in their location and services. Despite signing a contract, Fifth Avenue changed their mind several times about how much we owed them for the venue since we were supposed to get it at a discounted price. They had only just decided a couple weeks before what our final price would be, despite having booked the venue months before. Five days before the event, they told us we were no longer allowed to sell or bring in baked goods, which was supposed to be part of our bake sale. We already had people who started baking and purchased supplies. This alone cost us about $400. We were promised the venue would be set up and ready to go when we got there in the morning, but absolutely nothing was prepared. Our planner was late and seemed to have just rolled out of bed, and stood in the corner watching us. The entire second floor was in complete disrepair. Tables and chairs had no order, the floor was so sticky you actually had to do a light jog across the floor to unstick your feet, and the bar was covered in dried alcohol that made everything stick to that as well. We asked them to clean up and were met with grumbles and groans, so we had our own volunteers go out to get Clorox wipes and cleaned the entire place ourselves. Theoretically there were large pieces of wood that were supposed to be placed over the pool tables so we could use them for our silent auction items, but when we asked where they were, our planner told us they were too heavy and packed behind other things, so they wouldnt be getting them out for us. Their alternative solution was to use mismatched tablecloths over the pool table, which did not look at all classy. The stage floor was covered in DJ equipment. They didnt move it until minutes before the event started, after having two hours notice to do so, and their solution was still to just push it back a bit. Continuing the theme of terrible service, the bartenders were refusing to give customers their change back and instead keeping it as a tip. People had to ask for their cards back several times before they actually had it back in their hands. Overall this was a terrible experience and we paid for it dearly. I would absolutely not recommend this venue to anyone.
Lost at least $20 of beer & dinner tonight (to OTooles) because they cant get the LOCAL Wings game on a TV. Astounding
Attended a private event. We had a great time. We did think that the drinks were a little pricey, though.
Hannah was my server the other day and she was phenomenal. Very attentive, personable and welcoming! Cannot wait to go back and visit her!
They would not allow my friends in because they judged them because they were in a Star Wars Pub Crawl. Its weird as the Crawl started there. So I WILL NEVER SPEND ANOTHER DIME here as I think they discriminate. Some of my friends are younger. They were gonna allow me in. I understand they are protecting a liquor license but none of the other pubs had an issue. BTW my GF said the Bartender called us dorks behind our backs when we were ordering drinks at the start. They were suppose to be the after party here and the Manager said he didnt know anything about it. They are like most of Royal Oak now... arrogant. This is proof. Just like 3 restaurants leaving in the last 6 months. They are apart of becoming another Birmingham. I will let all of my contacts know they discriminate against people who dont fit their arrogant profile.
A group of 5 of us went to go in. Two of them wearing works shirts and shorts. I’m wearing jeans with rips and a crop top. Our black friend was wearing a white polo, jeans and a brand new pair of Jordan’s. They refused our black friend entry because of the way he was dressed! They couldn’t give me a valued reason besides for the owners have a dress code, said they don’t like his shoes!!!
I hear the complaints about fifth avenue but from my personal experience, never did anything bad happen to me. I believe that the bouncers look at certain people acting very suspicious or too drunk, so they find ways to not let them in because it avoids any problems INSIDE the club/bar, especially when bouncers are very intuitive about people that try to get in. Honestly, I love fifth and had fun when I was there. I love the environment and the people are very upscale which makes the place look very unique. Just follow the dress code, dont cause any trouble, and have fun and you should be good :)
Bartender claimed I didn’t pay him, then held my card hostage, and wouldn’t take the cash payment. I am not surprised if your register was over $16 last night. Luckily, management gave me a free drink and respectfully handled the situation. If you go, don’t pay individually. Just have your friends Venmo you!
We came here as a group of 4 people completely independent of anybody else.. They said we dont want anybody else of your group here and turned us away. As a regular customer, I felt deeply offended and realized what this place really values. The bouncers and managers really just care about promoting their idea of what a proper party scene is. Im totally done giving business to this place.
Good bar with lots of pool, outdoor seating, and a dancefloor upstairs. Only drawback is management directives and bouncers. Went one time with 4 white guys and 1 black guy in our group. My black friend was the only one turned away at the door because he was wearing Jordans. Do with that information what you wish.
Fifth Avenue is the perfect place to go if you are looking for a trashy bar trying to pass as a classy place. Bouncers are weird too.
This place is terrible!! The drinks are so expensive one drink is $11 it was just a captain and coke. I got another order which was 2 drinks & 2 shots that was $43. One of the bouncers kept yelling at people and we were there for a birthday party he said “Go upstairs right now what are you waiting for get up there now what are you looking at me for?” when we were just waiting on the rest of the party. The music was lame. Don’t recommend this place to anyone!
My daughter went there with her boyfriend and another couple. They charged the guys 20$ and the girls $5 cover charge, and it had to be cash. They also told her boyfriend he couldn’t wear a white shirt so he had to change but there were many other guys wearing the same thing. Nothing about this on their website either. She will be going to another place next time.
Bouncers pick and choose who they let in. After being denied entry because of shorts and joggers, our group sat and watched 3 seperate groups get let in with the same attire. I figured the reviews were an exageration, but they are not.
An interesting place to go to experience royal oak night life. Drinks are pricey and low quality, which is to be expected from a club that gets as packed as fifth Ave does. After about 12:30/1:00 AM, this place turns into a trashy ghetto night club and attracts all the people you dont want around you, starting with a good portion of the staff. Every bad review of this place that comments on the bouncers is absolutely true. They think that their job is to act like unprofessional meat-heads to male customers while making female customers feel completely uncomfortable with lewd comments and frequent staring.I was there with my girlfriend last night, dancing on the 2nd floor (around 1:45 for anyone interested), and while I was not paying attention a man with a staff shirt on (presumably an employee) casually grabs my girlfriends genitals while he walks past, patrolling the crowd. The owners of this lovely establishment need to make some serious changes to their staff.
Spacious inside and out. Very friendly staff. Good food.... BEST spinach artichoke dip Ive ever had!!! Drinks are kind of small though, but otherwise a great hang out spot.
The security guard on Saturday night and the ticket guy made me feel so welcomed. Not many places respect my pronouns she/her/hers. They truly made me feel loved and respected as who I am as a person. Thank you so much for everything! & this whole bar is NON JUDGEMENTAL which is why when I visit Michigan again I will be back!
Had a great time coming out here for our first time. No cover charge was really nice, and the drinks were made strong enough for the prices which were actually pretty reasonable. All in all we hsd a good time here and I could definitely see us coming back next time we are downtown royal oak!
Starting with the bouncers, there rude racist and make up their own dress code. If your a group of middle eastern men, you have NO chance of getting in. I managed to get in (only bcuz I came back with two hot white girls and myself) its not worth my time. Service and staff are not good anyways.
Was so disappointed, no one was wearing a mask In The tent. No social distances, in the tent it was overcrowded and tons of people not wearing a mask. I even ask if we could sit outside to have a drink because the tent was so crowded. We were told no, we left and we will never go back. Everyone please be safe and aware this place is not safe , no one wearing a mask, tents overcrowded.
Great staff. The doorman Anthony Coleman was awesome. Beautiful women. Might have met a future wife??? Naw.... but love the bar
Once we got in we had a great time, but the experience leading up to it was awful. It was our best friends 21st birthday, but he was denied entry at first because he had on a tee shirt (an expensive Versace tee shirt to be exact) and eventually the bouncer made our friend pay him $20 to Get in.
I hardly ever post reviews but I loved going to fifth avenue! My server Melissa could not have been more nice, I would definitely go back just for the service alone!
The last few times Ive been here the bouncers at the door have given us a hard time based on dress code but they dont have a standard dress code its pretty much whatever the bouncer feels like. It was the taller big white guy that gave us a hard time. It was a bad experience and was a headache to even get in. Who turns down 8 people that are ready to spend money? Bad business move!
My husband and I went out with friends in July and paid for drinks and the bartender never returned his debit card. We drove back the next day to pick it up and they bartender was all coked out on a Sunday morning and was too high to search through the cards. My husband explained to him several times how it looked and what the name was but he kept fiddling around and couldn’t even form complete sentences. Place is an absolute joke and staff is incapable. We refuse to ever go back there.
Had our company Holiday party upstairs. Food was catered/wedding buffet style but very good. Especially the coconut shrimp and pizza!
We had our office party in the upstairs room at 5th avenue, and it ended up being a big hit. The party planning team at the restaurant took care of everything. The service was very good and the staff was really friendly and they made the event so easy, which was really important to me because I wanted to just have fun and I am not great at planning events. I was also pleasantly surprised that I was able to get the whole party done for a reasonable budget. The room was large enough for our whole office staff and some clients, but it was still small and personal enough that we felt like we were at a fun party place, not some big boring corporate ballroom. The stage in the corner of the room worked out great for our band and also announcing and handing out our awards. Thanks 5th avenue, well probably be back next year!
Always a great club to visit. Good music, incredible service and very good looking people visiting all the time. In my opinion one of the best places to party in Royal Oak.
Terrible service. I’m here for Taco Fest I already ordered beer and snacks and Ramon big guy at the entrance didn’t my 10 year old nice got in at 6:30 pm, even there are too many kids inside. He said he didn’t care about 9 pm rule, since he makes his own rules. So rude and unconsidered!
Purchased bottle service and reserved a booth, girl that none of my party knows starts puking and spilling water near my booth and I promptly tell the staff. My entire booth of 16 people were disgusted by said vomiting girl that the staff would not get this girl out of our area. Talk about fine client service... security threatened me because of my tip due to the fact that the service was lacking. I have never been threatened by security to tip more... how ridiculous.
NEVER GO ON NEW YEARS EVE (or in general) YOU WILL GET SCAMMED!Charged $100 to get in and there was a line so long for the club upstairs it was impossible to get up there, the doorman should have said something for that price. Basically paid to stand around a bar. Ridiculous
The waitress Jacque is fantastic!! She reserves the pool table for my group so we don’t have to fight with the crowd and is very nice.
Its a nice place to play pool when it isnt crowded but people are very inconsiderate of people paying to pay pool. Often rude. Only had the pizza for food, which was really good. The mixed drinks are pretty weak, but the people serving them are probably some of the hottest in the area.
The place claims to have a dress code in order to profile and discriminate against people. My friend and I were told we couldnt get in because we were wearing v-necks ... While one of the door staff stood next to him wearing a v-neck. Its been a go-to place for me to socialize on weekends, and Ive had some good times here ... But I can see that this is a pattern with them and the the owner doesnt mind about this because he hasnt responded to all the other reviews reporting the same behavior. If you still want to go there on weekends and possess a pair of male genitalia, consider carrying spare clothes in your car to comply with whatever arbitrary dress code they think of.
Had so much fun keroke Sunday with Dj Julie food is very good, this place has lots of other things to do great pool tables dart bords among other things ,we will return to this place
Terrible place place to go. Waited in line for about 10 minutes and then the bouncer told us we couldnt go in because I wore a v-neck tee under my dress shirt. I believe they are racist as why let a white person in wearing a v-neck but not Arabs? NO other reason why they should not have let us in that i can think of. Plenty of other places in downtown to go. Bouncers seem to have a power trip and take it out on groups of males. The owner responding to only positive reviews tells you something. They know what is happening and most likely encourage their bouncers to act the way they act. AGAIN, save your self the hassle.
Went there for a private event last night and all they were worried about was getting us out as soon as the event ended. We left our table with all of our stuff sitting at it to take a quick picture and they literally threw away over $20 worth of drinks that we had bought. They could have at least gave us a last call or something instead of just rushing to get us out by throwing all of our beverages away that were more than half full.
Bouncers here act like they have the strictest dress code but really they just don’t like guys that dress well inside. They act like it’s full but then they let other people in right in your face . They didn’t let us in that’s too bad because they missed out on alot of money we were a whole group of people.
Discrimination at its finest. I came with a group of friends yesterday to find out we couldn’t come in because “the way we were dressed”. This including clean tennis shoes, ripped jeans and a ball cap yet the bouncer let a bunch of white people inside with the same outfit we had on. We come here all the time, even bought bottles and spends hundreds of dollars this whole summer just to get turned down yesterday because we didn’t look the same as everyone else. Don’t come here if you are African American or a minority in general. White privileged only.
Theres a 10 dollar cover to get in which for a Saturday night its not terrible, the drinks are fairly priced but it takes a while for the get served. The best part is that theres all kinds of different vibes, theres two different floors and an outside patio
Never had a worse experience... Im not usual to write reviews but I couldnt keep this in. St. Pattys Sunday 03-17-19 my brother and I were meeting up a few friends at 5th and we had a table reserved. As I got to the bouncer to show ID I was told no white shirts were allowed inside the club. Confused as I heard this I peeked inside only to find others wearing white shirts. The bouncer said they were workers (Obviously not...). We came back a few hours later wearing black shirts and again were denied entry. DISCRIMINATION! I have come to the conclusion that we were being discriminated because we were Middle Eastern. Money wasnt the issue nor were the rest of our outfits. This is not the first time that this has happened here and many people I know that are middle eastern have had the same issue. After this experience I will never support an establishment like this Again. A real business doesnt operate this way. They dont know how much Im going to spend in there. I can take my business somewhere else. Very disappointed that they let this happen. Its places like this that restricts metro Detroit from growing... 0 STARS FOR DISCRIMINATION.
Not a good place to go with people you want to have a conversation with. Music is dance club-loud for reasons unknown. We also had to seat ourselves, aka we had to snatch a table as soon as the people before us left because there wasn’t anyone seating the patrons. Servers never came to our table although there seemed to be plenty of them.
I spoke with Megan about a group reservation. She is amazing! Lots of suggestions and the willingness to go the extra mile to satisfy the requirements of the customers.
Totally incompetent staff. The lukewarm drinks were bested only by the clueless employees. Atmosphere felt like a high school basement party. Definitely was not worth the outrageous cover. This place should be paying people to walk through their doors. Plenty of other options in RO. Save yourself the juvenile experience and go elsewhere.
The reviews about discrimination are true! Do not go here if you are a minority. They will make up an excuse about your outfit. My two black friends and I watched others enter the bar wearing similar clothing that we were wearing after we were denied entry. After confronting the manager or bouncer about it, he said, Talking about what others got on wont help you get in. My girlfriend works here and she came outside to try to talk to them but it did not work. She told me later that night that it was wrong that they did not let us in because she saw others wearing the same type of clothes. Just save yourself some time and do not come here if you are a minority. ✊🏽
You may be interested in this place because it’s super loud and busy, but if you’re a female over 23 and wearing any clothes this place will make you feel very uncomfortable. Last time I was there had a drunk guy wave his wallet in my face and ask how much. A time before that a guy was wrestled out by five security guards and a drunk girl in the bathroom crying, then immediately laughing, talking about how she was having so much fun. This is a hook up bar. Look out for the STDs!! Because they’re running rampant through here. This is a very sad last stop of an evening that will make you feel bad for millennials.
This place is one of the best clubs in Downtown Royal Oak. They have a downstairs and an upstairs version. The downstairs is like a sport bar with couple pool table and a bar. The upstairs has a dance floor and couple pool tables as well the music was awesome and the drinks were really good.
Bouncer wouldn’t let me in for wearing a tank top. Kind of sexist considering they had girls in the bar barely wearing any cloths. Previous reviews described a pick and choose entry. Won’t be back.
This place discriminates! The bouncer wouldnt let a guy in because his jeans had rips in them, claiming there is a dress code. Two other white people had rips and were let in no problem. I think theyre trying to keep the club majority white. I didnt want to believe it was true but then I come on here and see a hundred reviews describing the same thing!
Amazing service and great atmosphere! Melissa was our sever and she took great care of my friends and I making sure we had everything we needed ! Will definitely be back!❤️
Last weekend my wife and I, and another couple went in after dinner to play some pool. We were playing 15 minutes when we noticed the couple next to us having a discussion with an employee. It appeared to be a debate about their bill. The employee was getting agitated and started to gyrate and swagger in the guys face. The employee then said, “If it makes you feel like a man, I’ll take it off.” That’s when we’d seen enough. My wife said, “You can’t talk to him like that.” The employee said, “You can’t talk to me like that.” You’re out of here. The bouncers then came over and said, “You need to leave.” I asked why. They had no answer. The employee was outraged and kept saying, your out of here. She can’t talk to me like that. Smiling and gyrating with an attitude. I calm explained what happened and asked to speak with the manager. I was SHOCKED WHEN THE BOUNCER SAID, “He is the manager.” I asked for his name, and a contact for an owner. The manager came over got in my face and said, “My names Adam, and I’m not giving you anything else.” This guy was clearly unhinged at this point, so we left. The bouncers were very calm and professional, and told us to come back in 30 minutes to speak with a different manager. I followed through and spoke with a professional manager who said I would here from management. Well, it’s been a week, and I haven’t heard anything. In looking back on this situation two things are clear: 1) the manager was not happy about a woman questioning him, and 2) he was speaking to the man and his date inappropriately because they were a mixed race couple. By 5th Avenue continuing to employee this manager, they are supporting this behavior. So if you are a woman or a minority, I’d think twice about going to 5th Ave.
The most racially discriminating bar I have ever been too. If you want to experience being black in America go to this bar. We stood in line for about five minutes as the only two black folks, only to get to the front of the line and the pony tailed bouncer tells us to Get out of the line because Im only letting my regular customers in. In other words, you aint white so you do not belong here. Neither one of us was drunk and both of us were very appropriately dressed, the only thing that was off to this guy was the color of our skin. Either the owner or manager watched this taking place and never said a word about it, Jim Crow mentality. Theyre other bars in the area you can have a better time than 5th Ave and most of all, you will not be discriminated against.
This place is extremely discriminatory and racist. They tried to tell my boyfriend he couldnt go in because of a small rip in his jeans, while we saw a white male inside in sweatpants. Another man of color in front of us was also rejected for no clear reason. Unbelievable. After reading all these other reviews with similar stories, I will definitely not be going back to support a business that thinks this is in any way acceptable.
I would like a response when time permits if possible, thank you.My friends and I came to this venue as a recommendation from our party bus driver. As we waited in line the security guard rejected my entry stating they dont allow straight bib hats. But before rejecting me the other security guard allowed 3 Caucasian men entry with similar hats and 1 of my friends who is a Caucasian woman. It didnt become an issue until I brought it to his attention that 4 people just went in with straight bib hats. (Fitted caps) My friend came outside to see what was wrong. Everyone was offended once they figured I was being singled out because of my hat. They didnt realize the mixture of races around me was actually with me. So the other security guard stepped in and said you all can step out of line, we dont allow straight bib hats in here. But my friend turned her cap around and mentioned like I did that he allowed 3 Caucasian men and her entry with similar style hats. Its 2017 and Im of mix race. You see skin color and I see a history of diversity. I would not recommend this place but hopefully this will help the management pick better security guards to represent their establishment with equality as a leading standard.
Good place, nice crowd. Get there on Friday n Saturday nights before 11pm because line starts building up and wait can take around 30 mins or a lot more the later you get there. Main level entry is usually free, they have pool tables, booths and bar tables. Upstairs dance floor is another line with a $5 entry fee. If you are a girl then no entry fee.
Ive been here on various occasions due to friends and it is my least favorite club on Friday and Saturday nights. For how much money they must bring in, the sound system, dance floor, and lighting system is among the worst Ive experienced. The venue always seems to get extremely cluttered and just isnt a pleasant atmosphere. If you might consider yourself an obnoxious and superficial person, you might like this place though.
Being from the area, I brought my boy friend back to my hometown to show him around. Never again will I ever walk back in this bar! Pounced on as soon as we walked in the door by the security guard, which by the way, played on their phones more than a small child, rather than watch the place. We were hardly payed any attention to by the bar staff, keeping in mind that they were NOT busy AT ALL! This happened to us yesterday, a Sunday @ 5pm. The last straw was that we were charger $8 for a Grape Bomb! Seriously?!? $8? For that price in the bar I work in, my guests can have 3 grape bombs using Three Olives brand! We have No idea how this place is still operating! P. S. I understand the area these, but try a female bartender on a Sunday. Might make football worth coming out & watching.
Not the type that leaves reviews but this place needs to be exposed. I was told I’m not allowed in regarding my attire (khakis and a long sleeve button up) I stepped to the side started looking at what others are wearing such as v necks, ripped jeans, hoodies and sweat pants All were allowed in with out any issues. When I brought this up to bouncer he told me “Your type isn’t allowed here”. This place claims to have a dress code in order to profile and discriminate against people.Fortunately there are many more bars in royal oak. Please consider taking your busniess elsewhere.
The location is very nice the security with the police outside was awesome but the staff at the door whats a little different but I guess it speaks on the clientele that they had their that night and to my understanding is that way every night the majority of the people were young and drunk or either high they were very belligerent it was not a good atmosphere if youre between the age of 18 and I would say 30 it would be okay for more mature crowd on that night it was not a good night the bar staff was extremely nice very friendly very attentive to the clientele. They cannot have anyone monitoring how much they serve liquor to individuals because it was so many people that could hardly stand up it was on real they were inside falling all over the place the men and the women were wasted 😡. Fifth avenue potential is so great but the structure of how they allow business to be ran on that night was not a good thing but the security was awesome.
Honestly, not a fan of this place. If you are 21-26ish this might be a fun spot for a wild night in Royal Oak. They are hit or miss at the door. Sometimes I will be let in looking like a bum, sometimes Ill be denied wearing some of my nicest outfits I have. Downstairs is pretty chill and nice. Once you go upstairs is where its messy. Super crowded, sweaty, dancing. For some nights im about that, for other it gets old. Also you usually have to pay a $10 cover, $5 for girls or free if you go early.
Great food, great service, great live band played by Taylor Tucky! As it started to sprinkle, the staff quickly passed out umbrellas to all that were sitting outside. Thats amazing service! Very impressed.
Lovely ambiance, They got a dance floor on 1st floor , after 10 pm a cover charge for $5.Includes pool tables and fun games. Weekends are pretty crowded but worth it if your in royal oakDrinks are affordable and good food
Hands down best Detroit style pizza. I had no idea they made food, to be honest, but I spoke with the EC Brock at length about his passion for food, and let me tell ya, it shows. Absolutely fantastic.
My first time coming to this place and I have to say the three star goes to the bouncer Terrance for his way of handling the situation how ever the waitress Loren on the second floor gets a minuis nine -9. Her behavior and attitude dont help the club. Me and some guess was there before 11:00pm so we order drinks and had a seat on the couches so around 11:45ish she come to tell us to get up this is reserved for a party nothing showed that the whole time we was there. Her tone and things she said was very unprofessional and getting a bouncer was to do what? if you have sections set for reservation the mark them that way. Well if I go back would be because of Terrance the bouncer not loren.we left and went to club the Morrie very nice there and get waited on fast..
Its more for the younger crowd. Went for work function and food was good but not my atmosphere.
Service started out slow but gain momentum and did a fine job in the end. Wagyu Burger and turkey burger or good although I thought the beef was overcooked and shrunk up so it didnt look like a very good value. Not big on the chili powder they sprinkle on the fries I think they could be something a little more creative there.
I dont know why anyone is saying the place is racist. They have a pretty diverse workforce here. The place is really bad when it comes to service. You could have a quarter of your beer left or half a hot dog and a cleaner will come and take it from you. Its really annoying because they dont ask you either if you are done. I saw a couple of people have a fit about their beers getting taken and they got kicked out by a bouncer.
Place is a dump. After being here for over an hour, our waitress only checked on us once. There are exactly 5 other parties in this entire place and many waitresses. There’s so many other bars in the area. Don’t support bad business.
The staff is Extremely rude. Ive never met such power-tripping, arrogant bouncers in my life. Ive seen instances of racial profiling, sexism, and just general assholery from the staff here. You might show up with a group of friends and coworkers, and if they so much as dont like the color of your dress, youre going to be in for some serious embarrassment when they tell you to leave. They hold the line to falsely advertise that the club is packed. When you get in you realize that its simply false advertisement. The drinks are diluted and overpriced. Oh, and if you want to get to the upstairs nightclub portion of the venue, be prepared to pay cover AGAIN. When you get up there, you realize that 90% of the crowd is comprised of desperate, 20-something foreign guys with too much cheap cologne. Do yourself a favor and just go to one of the many other venues in Royal Oak. Marty (the man who owns the place) used to own Tonic and Reunion nightclub in Pontiac, and Fifth Avenue has the same skeezy, trashy vibe. Both places are now out of business. Fifth Avenue is the pimple of Royal Oak and will follow.
We came here on the Harry Potter bar crawl and the best thing they did was make us realize how great the service at O’Tooles was. We waited 5-10 minutes at the bar that had 3-4 bartenders and maybe 10 people standing barside and two of the bartenders stood on their phones texting the whole time rather than taking orders. Then, when one of our companions went up to put in another order the bartender said “I hate these thing.” We also tried to order food. In the entire 30 minutes we were there we tried to order food at the bar and were told we had to order at a table. We talked another table into letting us sit there so we could order but we had servers walk past us about 5 times before we gave up and left. While I understand bar crawls are busy and create a lot of work, it is an opportunity to create new loyal customers and with that attitude fifth avenue failed at that. Thanks to that we will be taking our business to O’Tooles where we are appreciated. I hope the wait staff will learn to adopt a better attitude during these events because it really does affect our opinion of your business.
Great place to stop in before a show at the Royal Oak Music Theater. Its a short walk, even easy to do in a Michigan winter. Loved the pizza, wings were pretty good too.
When not busy, the club pays people to trick you into buying drinks. It was very frightening the group of men working for the club tried to separate my friends and I and tried to get our personal information. Would not recommend if there are not a lot of people out and about.
Its a college bar....lots of good looking young people. Theres an upstairs area that costs a small amount (maybe $5) for men to get into but the downstairs is free. Good music but drinks are pricey and small.
This has got to be my favorite place in Royal Oak. Everything just seems to be right with it beginning with the drinks. The food is also top-notch whether its pizza or fish and chips everything Ive tried so far has been great! I love the outdoor patio with the casual seating. Its a must!
This place will discriminate. Warning unless you are a hot girl, bringing hit girls, or know someone you will wait in line, you will be scrutinized hard about your attire and you will be laying up to two covers. cover to get in and cover to get upstairs. Crowd is young and hot. crowded on weekends, so expect to be elbow to elbow and fight for a drink from the bar.
My group had a blast. Cold drinks, beautiful people, and a vibrant vibe. Im not a pool shark but the tables were nowhere near as bad as Ive seen in the past at other places.
Ive been a fairly regular customer here during the weekdays so I decided to bring some friends for a birthday last night. Apparently their bouncers will only let you in on a Saturday if you pay them off or are a scantily-clad female.
Atmosphere isnt bad. Im 6 top-shelf drinks in as I type this on a Friday night. I drink 4 times per year, and Ive had nothing to eat for 9hrs. The drinks are reminiscent of punch from middle school dances. Im completely sober.
Went to the Dave Landou Comedy show at Mark Ridleys Comedy Castle and it was AMAZING... I watch him on Louder with Crowder Podcast and also the Tim Pool Podcast which does Truthful Journalism Culture and the News despite the current censorship era that we are living in... Glad vast majority of the population are waking up and taking back our freedom...WENT TO 5th AVE BAR afterwards and like always... Downtown Royal Oak Never disappoints..!!
This was my first time attempting to go to Fifth Ave. I am a 22 year old white male with a valid ID, dreams and ambitions! I arrived at the door at prime time 11:23pm to be exact. At first the bouncer looked at me and my friends and probably thought to himself “these guys look like they could afford to slip me a few dollars, or 20” Then proceeded to make an exaggerated ordeal over a slight rip in my jeans. Being the knowledgeable well rounded gentleman I am today, I saw exactly what the bouncers intentions were. After, numerous minutes of explaining myself and hoping for an understanding conclusion, the bouncer looks at me and says “see that guy, slip him a few you should be good to go”. At this point it’s not about the money, but principal. Me and my friends were completely and utterly appalled at the fact that Fifth Ave doesn’t feel the need to adapt to new fashion trends, as well as pay there bouncers enough that they don’t have result in scheme full tasks to feels as if they’ve made enough money. Overall Fifth ave missed out on the privilege of having a great group of ladies and gentlemen fill the atmosphere of the environment. It’s cool tho me and my dawgs pulled up to the strip and made it rain like future. Shoutout diamond at legends! Ole’ girl really put in work for this bag no cap 🤞🏼
If you like waiting in line for no reason this is the place to be. More people in line than inside. Security is power drunk and cocky. Too many other good bars close by to waste your time there. They need to be put in check here. Worse bar in royal oak. You could go to a place 10 times smaller and have fun and get treated much much better.
Me and my friend were fresh from head to toe. Bouncers werent going to let us in because the shirt under our Jean jackets were white Ts. We end up getting in and the ppl were dressed like they came out of foreman mills, all crappy plad shirts. That pissed me off. Music was garbage too and drinks are over priced.
The SECURITY at this place are SCAMMERS. They wanted me and my friend to sneak the bouncers $20 to get in because my friend was wearing Timberlands. Meanwhile they had no problem letting people wearing converse and vans in. The only difference was we were only 2 and they came in with a large group. Its a lot easier to scam 2 people than it is to scam a whole group. And if it really is bar policy to not let someone wearing $170 shoes in but $40 converse are ok this place is ridiculous.
Everything was good for the first hour there on the patio. After that they just started cramming people in there was 0 social distancing happening it was absolutely ridiculous the other half of the Patio was completely open ... I brought it up to the manager and server. They said “yeah I don’t know why they do that” that that’s all. I immediately cashed out and left.
I liked this place when I was 21-26It’s kind of fallen of a cliff, not really fun, normal drinks, terrible music
If you are planning a private event in Royal Oak, you have to give SERIOUS Consideration to 5th Avenue. I have both attended and hosted (grad party) private events here, and on both occasions Alex and the team at 5th Avenue KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK. The food, service, venue and accommodations that they made before and during our party were nothing short of OUTSTANDING. The numerous complements we received from our guests afterwards, confirmed that we made the correct choice in holding our event at 5th Avenue.
The only reason I’m giving 5th Av 2 stars is because of their bartending service. Great people that seek to serve customers in a timely manner. The dance club is filled with rapey creepy dudes that groped my fiancé despite me being there. Happened 4 times and had to shove one drunk guy away that would not back down. Ive been to 5th a total of 3 times and all 3 times, similar situations have happened. The DJ’s that have played music every time I am there are awful as they play their own terrible mixes to already good songs. Have had a better experience at Tequila Blue and would much rather go elsewhere.
My friends and i went to go enjoy two of my friends is birthday and we were about 10 people the people are so rude and racist. they didnt let us in because one of my friends was wearing a white shirt and i was wearing a camo shirt. but they say dont allow people wearing hoodies but i saw them letting in people with hoodies. they are very racist against middle eastern people. i dont recommend anyone to go to this janky place.
Nice bar, cover on weekends, karaoke some nights of week with pool tables for 10 bucks an hour.
Bouncers were incredibly rude, said they stopped letting people in and then proceeded to let 10 others in. they were causing unnecessary drama as well. we will never be coming back here due to the lack of respect the wannabe police officers hav
This place is very racist so do not plan on getting in unless your a group of white girls or have cash to pay the bouncers. This place is 2 levels, the top level is where most everyone hangs out at & is overcrowded and the DJ does not play good music. You also have to wait in two lines to get into the top club area.. not worth the time! If I could rate this place 0 stars I would.
This place is outrageous, the security(big white fella) is rude, racist, and an ass. This guy makes up his own dress code and policies. I have never seen a place say I cant come in because I am wearing a white tee under my sweater. Note that you can barely see the white tee. I was wearing something professional. Then minutes later he lets group of people wearing a white with their button up. After I cover my white tee, the guy says I cant come in again after I ask why he said because I can deny you for no reason. I also can FOR manage he quote that he owns the place, which clearly he doesnt.
Nice, party crowd and resaonably sized dance floor upstairs. You can also play pool which is cool or lounge and enjoy the party atmosphere. The drinks are decent. Mixed party crowd. Can get crowded or sometimes stuffy.
Man, screw Fifth Avenue. I went there on December 11, 2015. The bouncer told me I couldnt come inside wearing my fitted L.A. hat. He said the owner didnt like flat brim hats. And then this other skinny guy with long hair came out. He said even without my hat he was still thinking if he wanted to let me in. He said he didnt like what I was wearing. All I had on was a pair of Nike Air Force Ones, black Dickies, and a green and black polo shirt. I feel like they were completely out of line, I also feel like I was being profiled.
Very busy times during the art beats and eats in Royal Oak. Service was mediocre but once food was delivered I must say it was delicious. We did not order off the menu they had for that weekend. We ordered off the regular menu so that is probably why we waited so long
Not my scene. The music is super loud. The bouncers seem to be mostly interested in the ladies in the bar. What is with the bathroom attendant? The drinks are not cheap. Weird vibe all around.
Nice spot to hangout. I come here once in a while to play pool. They have multiple tables (on both floors). Drinks, food and service is always great.
I went there on sept 16th with my wife for her birthday and my cousin joined. We waited in line for 15 mins as they were letting people in. Once we got to the front the bouncer pulled us out of line and told us we cant go in I dont know the reason why you have to talk to the manager based off the other reviews I see they had the same issue I talked to the manager a guy with a pony tail. He said at first hang on, they he started ignoring I then saw the same bounce pull out 3 Indian guys from line saying they cant come in you have to have a reservation uhhhh what its a bar. Then the pony tail guy kept letting in a ton of people in the line I yelled at him what are you doing. Hes like you guys cant come in I told him hes being racist and they are not letting in Arabic or Indian people. I called the cops they said they cant do anything royal oak cops. So Ive been blasting them on Facebook Ive had over 73 responses and 29shares about how racist this establishment is. You can see in the reviews how horrible this place is. Ive already made the local news know and hope fully they come out on blast on the racist establishment they own! Do not go there and support them!
Cool place for a drink or watch a game. I think the action is upstairs with pool tables and more than enough space for beer pong or use the lounge area to socialize.Drinks could be stronger. Staff are good and attentive.
What is the vibe the bar is going for? If it is generic, preppy bar then Fifth nailed it. Music is the WORST. Ive been twice and that is two times too many. Can you please hire someone with good taste in music? Why do people want to re-listen to the radio when they go out?
Super racist place. Staff is super rude just a ton of old envy people. The bartender a woman like 50 ish smile at me when I sat down but when she saw my ID treated me very rude just bc I born in Argentina and Im latina. place is not even cool. Dont waist your time.
RACISM IS REAL PEOPLE. Wanted to check this place out for the first time and I watched the security guards let multiple groups of white people in constantly cutting in front of everyone. Sat in the front of the line for about 20 mins with a buddy of mine that is African American and we saw with our own eyes the security guards communicating with each other clearly talking about not letting us in. After we confronted the security guards about waiting in the front of the line for about 20 mins they claim it was over capacity. 20 secs after they let a huge group of guys in. This place does not deserve be open no more and from what I experienced yesterday was real RACISM. I even talked to the owners of the place and he was showing no remorse and was pretty much waiting for us to leave and laughed when we got out of line !!!! The reviews to this place speak for itself. Don’t go to this place if you want to get RACIALLY PROFILED.
If you like going to a bar for drinks, food or hang out and just chill...this is the bar. Serving staff is very good. Bartenders were good and ready at the right time for your next drink!
Covid-19 spreaders. They dont care about the public/customers obviously... cant even announce on their page to inform those that attended the bar. Videos and pictures of it being packed. Should be closed for good. They will ruin it for all the actual good businesses in the area!
Gave the bar tender two $20s for a $25 tab and received $5 back. Asked how much the tab was and he (tall, white, accent, called me bro even though were not related) became confrontational, insisting I had given him a $10 and a $20. Still tipped him $3 because clearly he needs that money more than I do. Aside from that, the place was busy but we still managed to find a table for four outside at midnight. Good spot to people watch and actually have a conversation. Waitresses outdoors were attentive even though it was busy. Wish I had skipped the bar and ordered from them.
A bit loud for my older self but very friendly staff and very generous on alcohol in the drinks !
Great place to watch a game or chill with friends & play games. Can also enjoy a Fri or Sat having fun on the dance floor with cool beats from a DJ.
Horrible, this place is dirty not friendly at all and doesnt not protect its customersIm a young person who went here during mid march 2020, was told to leave for no reason other than they needed more space for other customers when i asked why they just said we dont want you here and was kicked out. I was on call with my job at the time and was kicked put for stepping out side to take a call. The bathrooms are wide open next to the bar and i didnt even trust their food. I believe this place is harvors disease and the staff are extremely rude to customers.I highly encourage you to not go here with any luck they will be losed in 3 moths and another better bar will take its place, roylay oak does not need rhis establishment
Amazing time!!!! It was packed! A gentleman help me out to find my friends and escorted me upstairs. When I found them, he bought us all a shot!!! He said I hope you enjoy your night. As we shook hands I found out he was one of the owners! Great time thank you very much!!
First time going, a young crowd but very orderly and fun.
Hands down worst bar/club in Royal Oak. Bouncers are on a serious powertrip & turned me and my friends away for literally no reason. We got to the door bouncer told me I couldnt wear my camo shorts, petty as hell, but no worries I went back to the car, grabbed my other pants and got back in line. We reached the door again and was turned away and asked never to return because my friends shorts went below his knee lol. 5 minutes prior a group of Chaldean men were turned away for apparently no reason, one was 100% sure it was because he was Chaldean. He said hes tried getting in 3+ times and they never gave him an explanation as to why they wont allow him in. Avoid at all costs. The one time they did let me the drinks were absurdly watered down.
I have already contacted the owner/manager, but I think it is important to make sure others are aware that this establishment blatantly discriminates and racially profiles. After our personal experience where minority members of our group were not allowed in, we did some research on various online forums which suggests this to be a disappointing trend for this location. I strongly suggest you take your business elsewhere.
Racist vibe. Bouncers are aggressive to the customers, they pick and choose people. Music is weird. Not welcoming at all and the upstairs smells like vomit.
I was about to go but when I read all the racist comments about the bouncers I didnt want to waste my time or my money. My party or anybody that I know wont come here ever. Now that I think about it, this place sounds prime for a class action lawsuit...discrimination is illegal by the way.
Its a decent bar during the week. Pool is $10 an hour. The tables and staff are good. Beer selection is decent. It is a popular night club on the weekends.
Go to spot on a Saturday Night in Royal Oak. Multi-level setup, great crowd, always great music, DJ or not, you cant go wrong with Fifth Avenue Bar. I like the pools tables upstairs across the dance floor. Its pretty loud in there, so dont expect a quiet chill night at the 5th when you hit it on a weekend.
5th Avenue has a RACIAL QUOTA!5th Avenue is listed as a sports bar, pub, pool hall. They do have an upstairs that resembles more of a club atmosphere. They also serve food until close most nights theyre open. This review isnt covering any of those aspects of this establishment, this is to address the blatant racial singling out by the bouncers.Unfortunately this was not one isolated incident. There is 3-4 bouncers at 5th ave running the door and one of them usually walks down the line to let people know if they are doing something that will prevent them from getting in e.g., being too drunk. The first time we encountered a problem was a few months back and we were in a larger mixed group of people (white, black, girls and guys). We had 3 guys with us and they were all wearing v-neck shirts. One of the guys who is black (will refer to him as PATRON Y) was wearing a hat. The bouncer came up and said he wouldnt be let in wearing a hat so he took it off. We looked in the window of the bar and there was quite a few people wearing hats. Once we got in he put it back on and no one said anything else about it.The second time we had a problem was last night while we (2 girls and 1 guy-PATRON Y) were in line the bouncer came by and said they wouldnt let PATRON Y in because he was wearing a hat. Once again plenty of people wearing hats inside but he said no problem and he took it off. Then the bouncer immediately follows that up with they wont let you in because your wearing a V-neck.I should mention there was a guy 5 people ahead of us in line drinking a pint of fireball. This gentleman was white (will refer to him as PATRON Z) and was wearing a black v-neck. The bouncer spoke to him moments before PATRON Y and said that he couldnt have the open container. He let him get out of line throw it out and get back in line with no mention of his shirt. We decided to stay in line because they couldnt let in PATRON Z and not let in PATRON Y, Right? WRONG! Because the bouncers did exactly that and then tried to claim that they didnt. It was shocking to say the least. They proceeded to lift the rope and we got out of line. Infuriating! Hurtful! Embarrassing! Wrong! Infuriating!I really hope the owner(s) of this business arent instructing their staff to do such a disgusting thing. I would like to say I have no problem with dress codes and rules but it is unethical to only apply rules to a specific groups of people to keep them out. Im fully aware discrimination exists and Im glad I got to see it at 5th avenue because I will not be going back to this establishment. Discrimination doesnt just hurt the person your doing it to, it hurts everyone.
The level of Hate and Racism on its fine level, we’re group of 3 people attempted to get in at 1:15 Am and got denied just because our skin color!I’m from Philadelphia and they have have to be a shame of themselves, the Detroit officials should shut this place out just because it’s diverse City and these people are selective and whitepromices! Discusted!
What a dumpster dive! The place is trash and the employees are rude and dont understand what good service means. Fights break out and their security people are inept and ineffective! If you value your well-being and have self-respect, dont go here! One star is too much, but the site doesnt offer zero!
Awesome place, great food. Royal Oak Chamber After Hours. Chef Rick prepared a great layout for the event which was reggie based on cheeseburgers in paradise. Nice event. Thank you Fifth Avenue.
