Be extremely careful when you go party to this place. I was there during the weekend enjoying my night suddenly a girl stole my phone from my purse. It happens in this place all the time. I told the security guards and they did nothing about it. Even when it happened none of them where around there. I had a lot of witnesses because everybody saw when I took my phone back from her. There are thieves in this place, I will definitely never back here. 🤬🤬🤬By the way the music is good!

Always a great time at Onyx, anytime I barhop in Gaslamp, Onyx is a must visit; great vibes, energy, music and service especially by my favorite bartender, Andrew, he always knows how to get the party started! I definitely recommend this place for anyone that wants a good time and variety since they have multiple dance rooms with different music. Security also is great and helps you feel safe and secure, Devin one of the lead guards is always a help.

If you want to have a good time and drink and listen to music do it at home! Trust me it’s not worth it. I’m 21 never been to a club before and I happened to go on Sunday. I was with a group of friends and I was “safe” as I thought. I was pocket picked and I got my wallet stolen thankfully I only had my ID on their debit card and my medical card so I canceled it. I also have a picture of me holding my ID over my head THANKFULLY. I’m struggling with money right now due to inflation and this made me have the biggest break down and caused me stress. There is rumors going around that Onyx employees are on it aswell. There’s a video that popped up on my feed and 2 females were caught video posted by @differentbreed_.__ on Instagram, I have filed a police claim due to this incident and I sent police the video. If you were effected by this aswell please send the video to police. This needs to stop.

This place is dumb. They have a very strict dress code that makes no sense. They’ll let women in with practically nothing on but if you’re a man and wear shorts you can’t come in. They’re stupid. Pointed this out to the security and he made it seem like I was making a problem when it’s a pretty valid question. How is it a woman can get in wearing whatever they want when a man can’t?

I came to this club with my friend from out of town we loved the music thePlace atmósfera!! It was time to closed we left!! Next morning where us my purse I email the club the general manager told me yes!! Your purse is here :) everything was there my cards Ids and Us Passport. Going to Club Onyx is a gamble; you must be extremely careful not to get robbed. I’ve gotten pickpocketed here before; my phone was sold to someone in China. To warn their customers, they recently put up “Beware of Pickpockets” signs out by the entrance.Aside from the fact that you have to be paranoid the whole night about getting robbed, it is a good vibe. They have different spaces with different music catering to all other tastes. Club Onyx is the place to go if you’re looking for a place to dance the night away; they charge $20 for cover, and their drinks are pretty expensive. But their bartenders have good vibes and provide relatively fast service.

A dress code at a night club? Trash. People just want to enjoy their night and shouldnt have to worry if they have a hat on or not. Some people dont want to dance in dress shoes. Plus most nikes cost more than some stupid pair of dress shoes anyway. Not recommended. Drinks over priced music sucked.

I would advise everyone to definitely stay away from this Club. Most of the workers here lack professionalism, bouncers are very unprofessional, bartender mistakenly poured my friends drink, and refused to replace it and also did not apologize. We requested to be served by another bartender, then he got pissed and called security. The area is also sketchy with alot thefts. The Dj is great, and plays good music.

Had a great time at Onyx Nightclub last Friday night a few of my girlfriends were in town and I wanted to show them a good area in San Diego that played both Latino and Hip Hop music. The music was so good that we couldn’t stop dancing. We hadn’t been back to Onyx since the pandemic and I’m so glad we stopped in. The interior is newly remodeled and upscaled. The bathroom lines did not take an eternity and that’s always a big plus in my books! 10/10 if you are in the mood for some great music and strong drinks :)

This place is a must, one of the hottest spots if youre planning a visit to Onyx Room, the vibes were off the charts. Make sure you guys touch bases with Mundaca, for all your bottle services needs hes definitely the guy his services were by far some of the best Ive experienced . A night to remember for sure!! Super expensive, your not allowed to bring water and they charge 4 dollars for a tiny thing of Fiji water, also my friend left his ID and they were no help at all with finding it. Not a horrible club overall but theres probably the same type of club without all that hassle else where

Great place in San Diego Downtown Gaslamp! Brandon is one of the best VIP Host in the city!!! I highly recommend this venue to SD locals and anyone visiting San Diego.

We got in contact with a Promoter named Brandon & OMG the service was well worth getting a table! Someone spilled a drink on me and her brought us a new bottle for the inconvenience!! And our servers were Kendra & Denise , so nice !! We will definitely be coming back , thank you guys for everything!

BEWARE!! For your own safety, do not choose this club. Constant theft. Two of my friends got their friends stolen within 30 seconds of entering. They did NOT have their phone in their back pocket. It was in a purse with a latch that had to be twisted off. If you filter these reviews for the keyword “stolen” you will see all the people that have gotten their phone stolen here from staff in the last year. It felt extremely unsafe.

Onyx has been the go-to nightclub to attend without a doubt. The atmosphere and the staff there is like no other. Even going to get a drink, the party does not stop. Andrew is the best bartender, he always keeps the vibe going and you can tell he loves what he does. He is fast, fun, and makes great drinks. Best nightclub in SD definitely recommend.

I went here and the door man, who honestly seemed younger than me, wanted to steal my Drivers License. I went with my cousin and best friend. I wasnt even the youngest in the group. I was the designated driver, so I really didnt even care about going in. The door man took my ID, started reading some weird fake ID book? Then told me he was going to call the cops on me? I had never experienced such bad treatment, and I was only there for a minute. I told him, go ahead and call the police, because its real, and I need that to drive everyone home. Then another staff member came over to look at it. Eventually I said, just give me my ID, stop holding me hostage here, and well leave. It took about 10 minutes of asking before they gave it back.Now, seeing that this club steals wallets, it makes sense why they wanted my License. Horrible. Im also Kumeyaay Indigenous to the land, and theyre really asking for a curse from the Ancestors stealing from, and disrespecting people like this. :(

We all had an amazing time! Especially things to the staff, Brandon and Alessandra really helped make the night special! We had Some requests and Brandon never hesitated to Say yes! He was never farther than a text away. He made us feel welcomed and important the entire night! Things to him we were able to let loose and really enjoy our night because we knew that he would take care of us, and he really came through! Alessandra was so quick and constantly checking in on us making sure our drinks were poured up to the brim and tasty! She was very professional, and very attentive! This is my second time getting the VIP experience and it was even better than the first time! Brandon the Senior VIP Host was extremely helpful and set the right tone from the very start. Cant beat the prices for the experience you get. Our server Randi and Denise made the our night out even more enjoyable. They were fully attentive and easy going. I went to onyx and Andrew is one of the bartenders behind the counter either upstairs or downstairs and this man has literally made my night along with all my friends every time we come! 100% coming back time and time again! WHEN I APPROACHED THE EMPLOYEE I WAS CONFRONTED.My friend whom I shared my Apple location with, immediately gave me her phone to track. I was able to was able to pin point location. Thus I showed the phone to the host, she immediately accused me of lying. When I showed it her the exact location, she Immediately became shifty and began stuttering. Then called Management. Management laughed in my face and told me to find it then.Immediately threatened to 86 me. I agreed to stand out of the club as I called the police. SECURITY PROCEEDED TO INTIMIDATE ME TO LEAVE.Felt threatened and in danger we decided to leave for our safety.Come to find out at the end of the night the entire group of us...3/5 women group were robbed.2 wallets were robbed and denied transactions at Target in Cerritos, Ca the next day.The 1 stolen phone was also traced to Cerritos,CAWhat a nightmare. It was my wifes, sisters 21 st birthday!she really wanted to go to onyx, So I figured Id message a host there. The person to Take care of me was brandon Rivadeneyra. Brandon was very professional as well as understanding! This nightclub is very facking good, old reggaeton blasting, your legs soar of pure perreo time! Cool atmosphere, have lots of fun in this nightclub! I definitely recommend it, music is great… the only thing maaan! It takes forever to buy a couple drinks! I think the bar section needs a tune up. Anyway i had a blast 😮‍💨

We had a Bachelorette party here with bottle service for 16 girls and they covered all ends in making our nite amazing. They were consistent on making sure we had fresh ice, cups and juices for our bottles throughout the nite. The DJ played the jams in the Hip Hop room and kept the vibes flowing. I would definitely go back when Im in SD. Mundaca was amazing and helped me through the whole process of booking the bottle service and ensuring our party has a great time!

We had so much fun at Onyx Room. We got bottle service this last Friday and the entire night was awesome. Mundaca helped us at the door and showed us to our area. He was very attentive to our needs and wanted to ensure we had a good time. Our bottle girl was super friendly (I wish I remembered her name) and checked on us often to see if we needed anything. The DJ played a good variety of music to keep the party going. Definitely recommend getting the bottle service. We will come back here again for sure.

The best music, excellent treatment from the staff, over all my favorite bartender Andrew 🫶🏽 the reason why we always come back, he’s always making every night the best, definitely my favorite place in downtown.

You will get your stuff stolen do not come to this location. There are professional pickpockets and I have suspicions the staff are in on it. They were extremely unhelpful and vague when I tried to ask about my items. Told me they didnt have my items less than 2 minutes after contacting about it being lost. Come to find out others have had the same experience. I am always hyper-vigilant of my belongings but my wallet was still taken. Besides that, the venue and atmosphere was not good. Do not go to this location.

Only nightclub I ever go to! Atmosphere and music are always great. Unfortunately I had my wallet taken out my bag during Halloweekend but thankfully Andrew, best bartender ever, found me on Insta and let me know he had my wallet safe and sound. Onyx is a must whenever you’re visiting Downtown SD.

Had an amazing Saturday at Onyx celebrating cousin birthday Brandon help me get a ViP table very patient made it easy for us as soon as we arrived. Our server Nia so nice we were well taking care of always make sure we had what we need kept our table clean all the timewas just amazing. 🤗

We spent Saturday night and got a table. I texted the number I found on the Onyx website to get more info and book a table service for the same night... Brandon responded right away! He is a great and super helpful person, it was a pleasure communicating with him. He responded right away to all my questions. The same night we arrived around 10pm. We asked for Brandron, he came out immediately and he was extremely professional and accompanied out group to our table and came to check in on us several times. We were seated on the second floor per our request but we checked out the other too rooms too and we thought that the second floor was the best fit for us. I would highly recommend Onyx and if you ever want to get a table dealing with Brandon would be a pleasure:))

Me and a few friends came to Onyx for night one of our bachelor party! Our VIP host Brandon did an amazing job coordinating our experience and took a lot of stress off my shoulders with planning! And our server Denise also did a spectacular job with our drinks and checking up with us periodically. Good vibes and music, recommend for a great night out or celebration!

I been to Onyx since 2018, always a good time. Fast forward to 2023, I have connected with some of the staff who are great! They always make the night unforgettable. Now the highlight of it all is my to go to bartender Andrew! (You guys better go ask for him!!!! And tell him yazmin send you! ) He always makes the night 100x better. He provides the best drinks, vibes, atmosphere, remembers you(because let’s be honest who doesn’t like that), and is a host on top of providing a good time. Not to mention the plus it is as a woman to feel safe and you know someone is not only providing the best time of ur life but also making sure you are taken care off and safe. I won’t go anywhere else.

Within 15 minutes of arriving, my friend’s wallet and my other friend’s phones were stolen from within their purses. And after asking people around us several other phones were stolen as well.The professional nature of stealing from a closed purse should 100% deter anyone from coming to this location, as it seems to be a target. My friends made an active effort to keep their purses in front of them.Onyx NEEDS to implement bag searching upon entering and also leaving, even if it’s just a quick search.

VIP host Brandon made my groups experience exceptional. He’s the guy to book with whenever you need a table. From start to finish he had the vibes right also our server Aly made sure we had everything we needed and went above and beyond.

VIP service was amazing, Bottle service was no exception. Our server was amazing & she would continuously ask for input as to when bottles were brought out which was highly appreciated. Mundaca is an extraordinary host & highly recommend booking.

I heard good things about onyx so I decided to check it out yesterday and I didn’t have a good customer experience…Our server was snappy and rude and at one point didn’t come back to our table for 40 minutes. We ended up having to ask another server to tend to us. I don’t remember her name but she had short blonde hair. Overall the club was okay, but the customer service could use some work.

We took a trip to San Diego and booked ourselves, on the list, about a month in advance. We got there and security sent us to the back of the line AFTER we had already waited for over 15 minutes. I tried to explain that we were in line and security claimed that he didnt see us and sent us to the back.Im lead security at a club as well, and I have a great staff, so I understand that arguing with security gets you nowhere. I politely told him we were in line and we were on the list but he refused to let my lady and I go forward.We, once again, waited in the long line and we missed the 10p VIP list cutoff by 10 minutes, after waiting a total of 38 minutes, so we tried to explain but we were both charged full cover. We were really excited and dressed up but we were treated poorly.We still liked the atmosphere but the club was WAY OVERCROWDED and we spent majority of our time, getting pushed around. Its nice to get dressed up and go to a nice club but this one will not be revisited by us.

We went out in a Saturday, everyone form the host to the DJ was amazing! Staff was very attentive and friendly. The music was a great mix setting the party atmosphere! We had a table close to the DJ, these tables have lots of space not like others where your close to other tables. Will definitely keep going to Onyx.

I went to Onyx Room Nightclub this past weekend and had VIP Bottle Service for a Bachelorette party. I would like to thank Brandon our awesome host! He made sure all my requests were met! I had a great experience with my girls! We were taken care of and the bottle service gals kept checking on us and fixing our drinks, shots, bringing cups, and mixers when needed. I highly recommend Onyx Room Night Club if you want a VIP experience and a great time to dance the night away. Thank You Brandon! I will definitely be returning if I go back to San Diego.

Never been to this place, but just saw a nice new car with red spray paint graffiti scrawled on the side which read: stop going to onyx on fridays. Feel bad for the owner, it was a nice new white tesla. Probably didnt deserve that.So I decided to look up what onyx was... okay, nightclub. Checked to see what the lowest reviews are all about and see that theres apparent, possibly employee ran(?) pickpocket ring, replete with intimidation. Hmmmm.... wouldnt be surprised if it was the same garbage (possible employees) stealing wallets as put graffiti on that persons nice car. Sad to see man.To all the people whove been victimized in this place, you have my sympathy. Youll be alright, not everyone in the world is a piece of garbage.Also, as a side the penmanship was awful. The person who put it there likely cant read very well, to say the least.

We spent Halloween weekend 2021 here . VIP bottle service did not disappoint. It was a ton of fun. They had great music. Great vibes. We will definitely be back to do it again! The 3 dance floors on 2 levels was pretty awesome. Multiple bars inside to get a drink.

HORRIBLE!!!! My sister and other 8 people got her phone stolen last night at this ghetto place!! Do not go!!!

Paid for VIP/Bottle service, was forced to end nearly 2+ hours early by staff and vacate the property due to another patron dispensing pepper spay. Security obviously failed to do their job screening patrons, putting everyone at risk. Additionally, we lost out on and was unable to fully experience what we had paid for. We were forced to leave with an entire bottle still at our table.

PHONE WAS STOLEN OUT OF MY CLOSED PURSE!First off when you arrive everyone is put into one line. Doesn’t matter if you have a ticket, VIP, etc. Then when you finally get in you are packed so that everyone around you is rubbing up against you. During this time if you don’t have your phone in your hand it gets lifted. I was at this club for less than an hour and my phone was stolen. It’s still currently off but I’ve remotely erased it. I stayed later to ask bartenders, security, front cashier, but they couldn’t care less. When I asked if anyone turned in a phone I was dismissed with a “no”. And an aggressive stare. When I asked the coat check lady her response was “well that’s why we offer the cost check”. Like the establishment knows this is a problem. I wish I would have read the reviews before going here. My friend and I were just trying to find something fun to do for Halloween and now me- a single mother working two jobs and going to school- gets to figure out how to replace my phone. I really wish I could give 0 stars.

Its a cool nightclub with tight music, BUT the drinks are overpriced, and some can be watered-down. Also, they will steal your wallet and phone if youre not careful. The security wont do anything if youre a female or male in distress, so I dont recommend going by yourself or getting separated from your group cuz some ppl are desperate and will grab you without asking..

My man and I were on the guest list for Saturday night and the email stated to arrive before 10pm. As we walked up, I asked the security standing at the exit for entry on the guest list (9:40pm), he tells us its the same line, everyone goes into one line. That is CRAZY, we have traveled all over and all the Venues have a general admission line separate from bottle service and guest list. Naturally being in one line, it was 10:06pm before we got to the front, where the doorman charged us full price. Were bot from SD and Im sure there were other guest from out of town. The music downstairs was too loud and too crowded as the upstairs was good dancing mucis yet OVER crowded with people bumping into you. You would bring in better patrons if you changed your process.

Terrible got my phone stolen🙃texted the manager the next morning from my new phone I had to buy and the onyx manager never responded. Also a customer that was next to me while I was purchasing my new phone told me she’s on her 4th phone because her phone has gotten stolen 3 times at onyx

Had a blast here for a girls night celebrating my recent engagement. Loved the atmosphere, the music with all my favorite throwbacks mixed in, and the great lights display. The VIP staff made us feel taken care of all night.

Ive celebrated two birthdays with bottle service and the service is amazing. Mundaca was an amazing VIP host and made my birthday a night to remember. Always a great time! Music is diverse, highly recommend if you love latin music.

TERRIBLE bar experience (01/20/23- Latin music room)Good music, good people at the entrance and doing security... however, I went out there on a Friday night. As soon as I got in, I went directly to the bar for some drinks. A —((white skinny male with round glasses))—was on the side of the bar I was approaching. He saw me and ignored me twice while I tried to get his attention, and decided to serve people that approached the bar after I did. After a few mins and no one else left for him to serve he got to me. His attitude was not one of service, he prepared the drinks and left them for us to take while he charged my car. I got 3 drinks. About $50dlls. I don’t think he deserved a tip for his mediocre performance. So I didn’t leave him one. 30mins later I came back to the bar to get another drink. However this individual that had served me walked to the other corner of the bar to tell the bar tender that was about to serve me to not serve me because I had not left a tip. I couldn’t believe it!! I was a customer just trying to buy drinks. I would’ve tipped this other bar tender that was about to serve me because he seemed friendly. Not only did the first individual that served me tell this bar tender to not give me drinks but went out of his way to tell everybody else working there to not serve me. So me and my group of friends of about 8 decided to leave and go to another club instead. BAD EXPERIENCE, MANDATORY TIPS .. Do you tip mediocre performance?!

Onyx hands down is the best nightclub in San Diego! Whenever I plan a weekend out to have some fun I always turn to Onyx because I know this is the place to be at. Onyx has 3 floors with a mix of music for everyone! I have booked tables here at onyx several times including Halloween weekend and I wasn’t disappointed. Our VIP host Jacob was on top of everything and the process to get a table was easy. He caters to our needs whether a birthday or regular night out he really goes above and beyond to give us that VIP experience. I recommend everyone to check this club out since it is definitely an experience!

NEVER GO THIS PLACE! They stole my phone and wallet. When leaving there was a group of people whos phones were also stolen, and they did nothing!! There was no air conditioning and the place smelled very badly! Definitely never going again and trying to convince everyone around me to do the same.

My VIP Host was David M. I reached out to him the day of my friends celebration and he was able to get me a table succeeding my expectation last minute! When I arrived he was able to get me and my guests in right away and was very helpful and responsive through my whole experience at Onyx, he would come by my table to make sure we didn’t have any requests multiple times a night, not only was the host amazing but the bottle girls and the whole Onyx experience is always a night to remember, thank you for helping once again David!

We went with a large group of girls, to celebrate my friends birthday. We had just finished up an amazing dinner at Coasterra, and we rolled into Onxy early. We didnt care, we were there to dance and drink with each other.We came from all over the place, Orange County, San Diego, Las Vegas, The Bay Area and Northern California. Some of us hadnt seen each other in years.The servers were all so beautiful and nice. You never know with these clubs. Sometimes you get the mean girls. The busser was our highlight. He was so sweet and accommodating. We asked if swecour table could be moved to the room downstairs, playing different music and they accommodated us.I felt bad, because we didnt spend much money. I had every expectation that they would forget about us. We just wanted to dance. It was our first night in town and we didnt want to go too hard.That didnt stop them from checking in on us. We had different servers check in on us and our busser check on us regularly.We has all travelled in earlier that day and another long day of partying the next day so we called it a night early. Plus we are old women. Lol I would love to visit Onyx again the next time in SD.

Went to Onyx for the first time and was so disappointed. The other reviewers are not lying, your things will be stolen here. My phone was stolen while we were ordering a drink and a few others around us were also looking for their phones by the bar. We tracked my phone with FindMyIphone and it was in LA the next day. It smells like armpits as soon as you walk in because there’s no adequate AC. Spare your time and money. There are plenty of other SAFER clubs with way better vibes.

Definitely not worth $20 entrance fee. They stuffed us in there that no one had any room to dance. People were sweating all over each other and ghetto people were pushing each other, which started a few fights. Most people had terrible attitudes, it was disgusting. This club is for the wanna-be classy but trashy people. Most of those ill-tempered were fat/fluffy (whatever makes you feel better), which shouldve account for 2 people when estimating how many should go in. Also, the DJ constantly changed music every 3 seconds, which irritated many of the crowd who ended up just leaving. We left after 5 min of them doing this. How can anyone dance with constant, abrupt changes in music with no smooth transition? The only good thing about this place were the gorgeous professional dancers and the set-up.

Been here a few times and they always play the same set list. They have a “DJ” but I don’t thinks it’s really a DJ since the songs and set list are the same every time we go. Still a fun club but it gets repetitive.

A great standard issue nightclub. Nearly perfect mix of hip hop and top 40s upstairs for those seeking it. Drinks are a little pricy, but where arent they? The outdoor space in front is great for taking breaks to air out and cool off. Bartender Antonio is the man! Always on it, super polite and entertaining. Only thing is, they BLAST the music every night and I lose hearing every single time I come lol. Maybe lower it a couple of notches yall! Line to enter gets long fast, but after like 11pm the line wait is usually 15-20 minutes in my experience, cause it gets so hot that the 10pm crowd starts to leave. Ive met lots of cool people here! Havent had a bad time here yet.

I dont recommend coming here. It was the night of my wedding. My friends, wife and I wanted to grab some food since my wife and I didnt eat much at our reception. We saw the Gaslamp Tavern and tried to enter, but the people at the front stopped us and checked our IDs.The lady by the door kept asking for my credit card when I specifically told her that we only wanted to eat. She wouldnt let us in so I thought the cost to enter was for the Tavern, but turns out it was for the club. I asked her if there was food and she said yes, go to the counter on the right. Turns out the Tavern kitchen was closed... I went back to ask for a refund, but she was rude and refused to give me a refund. I paid for all my friends which was more than $100. We never even went into the club.My friend and I saw the manager and tried to talk to her about our situation. She went to speak to the lady in the front and came back to us and told us that they will give us a refund. I gave her my information and she said it will take a couple of days.After waiting a week or so, I still hadn’t gotten a refund. I contacted Onyx and the person who responded was helpful and gave me the email to the general manager.I tried emailing the general manager about my situation, but there was no response from him. I followed up several times and still didnt get a response.I would avoid this place.

Was greeted at the front where security said hats are OK as long as you put it away. As we got to the second security he tells us no and so we give them our hat expecting to get it back at the end of the night. Employee’s clearly stole it and didn’t want to give it back. they were acting dumb and didn’t know where the hat went when we saw exactly who took it. don’t come here unless you want your stuff stolen.

Went to Onyx two nights in a row. Friday was phenomenal, I didn’t want to leave but I had to lol. So I went back Saturday night!Both nights me & my group ordered bottle service, highly recommend. Kara was amazing her service is just as fire as she is; but Mundaca that’s the man!He went ABOVE and BEYOND on making sure our experience at Onyx both nights was nothing less then memorable. Saturday night was unforgettable, I felt like it was my birthday!If your looking to have a 10 star experience from beginning to end, ask for Mundaca!

Mundaca was amazing. Friends and I are on vacation here in San Diego & I couldn’t be more happier then the service we received at this beautiful club.

Overall we had fun that night. Brandon has been so dedicated for our booked table service and he prepared everything before we arrived. I want to call out two things for improvement. First, the location of the restroom is really weird. People will come through your table in order to get there. It’s really annoying. Second, security should keep an eye on the guests in the table. A guy from the dance floor tried to drag out one of our drunk girls from our table.

Went on a Friday and they had a 20 dollar cover. The atmosphere was great inside and they played all the right songs. My only complaint is the HEAT. They need more airflow or something because the entire place was a sauna.

Doesnt look like the promotional marketing on any social media or Google search. In those publicity, pictures show up as a great clean desirable location but in reality, when u enter is different from what are u expecting to see. Is dark crappie in most common dancing 💃 areas? Dancing girls are sometimes un top of square ⬛️ boxes and not completely safe or meant for or designed to. So night club is average but not good. I will think twice about coming back...

Just moved to SD and one of the first places I went to go out was Onyx, what an amazing scene. Absolutely loved the vibe and will go back. Juan Rangel Onyx GM was so nice and made the experience 10x better!

VIP area is the way to go, we were attended to immediately. We arrived a little late after the bad bunny concert Sunday and walked from petco park. Tired AF. But our gorgeous bottle service girls helped us get back in the party mood. DJ was playing nothing but bangers all night. 10/10 experience, even though I was bagged on most of night for wearing my dodger hat by security and VIP host lol, thanks onyx.

LADIES!! Absolutely do not come here. The club is super trash. There are men that work in teams to steal phones. My friends phone got stolen, as I was standing outside, another girl realized her phone got stolen.Would not be surprised if security guards were in on this ring. They do nothing.Women are not safe at this club. Ladies, always watch your belongings, these shady men don’t care about you and neither does the staff.Sketchy all the way around, definitely didn’t feel like I was in DT San Diego, more like south side Chicago.

Awsome vibes! Top floor is pretty hot compared to other rooms like the ac not working right but great music. Also please remember to wear decent heels 👠 as music will keep u dancing all night!

Brandon was the host that came through with a table on a short notice for my big group of friends for my birthday, not even that but he had my name put on a sign which out here in Seattle we don’t have not to mention posted me on their IG story saying happy birthday, name a better promoter I’ll wait. Highly recommend!

Good djs on the bottom floor when I went. Gets a lil too crowded on a Friday night though. Great prices for a club. I never payed for a club soda or a cranberry juice either but I also didnt buy any alcohol so they probably hooked me up because they knew I was DD.

Brandon Rivadeneyra and his team welcomed our bachelor party with open arms. The reservation for a table in advance was crucial on a sold out Saturday night. Everyone down from security to the bottle service team delivered a great experience. Thank you for making it memorable to send my buddy off.

There are there dance floors over 2 rooms. All have an excellent selection of music with the downstairs more lively and the upstairs with seating for VIP guests. The downstairs is Latin music which is amazing and a lot of fun.Issue is that they dont allow reentry (so if you leave, you pay to enter again). The cover is a $30 fee which would be expected in a high end club but you can find better options in the area for a $5 cover and reentry.

My boy Brandon, helped me and my crew when we had a little mix up at the VIP line. So big appreciate him for still gettin us a table and also Kara for always getting my section the funnest time and best experience. And also Ruby for makin the vibes & energy top tier. A must go for VIP while in daygo!!!

Ive been two a few places in downtown but this club is one of the best. 3 Floors with different music for your taste and bars in every level.

Went here for a friends birthday and our night was abruptly ended when our friend was dragged out of the club by security. Followed him out to find out two security guards had taken him into the hallway, taken turns punching him repeatedly in the face and asking if he likes to touch girls. He was then taken outside and the security asked the woman if this was the guy that had grabbed her, in which she said “no” and he was released and left on the side walk beaten senseless and covered in blood.The security had a clear power trip from the beginning, not allowing one of our friends entry for shorts when multiple members of our party were wearing shorts.This is not a place I will ever be returning and don’t recommend you and your friends go either. I would take extra precaution for anyone of color, as our group was predominately white, and both instances that occurred were to our hispanic and black friend. I thought security was there to respect and protect everyone equally, but here they clearly take the opportunity to use their small sense of power to distribute biased violence.To add: there was no responsibility taken by security or their management. No apology given, no action taken in response to their colossal mistake. We had to find nearby police to make a report and hope to get some sort of action from this establishment.

Honestly Brandon was the best and most helpful host I’ve ever had!! He was so accommodating and always willing to help. His communication skills were EXCELLENT!

DO NOT go here. Last night i realized my phone was missing, looked around, asked bartenders and security guards if anyone found it. I go outside to the front and find out Im one of about 20 girls who got their phone stolen straight out of their purse. One of the security guards had the audacity to say well its not our fault you brought a $1300 phone to the club like its safe to just go out without a phone. There has to be a group of people doing this, my phone ended up somewhere in LA. I wouldnt be surprised if some/all of the security/managers were in on this scheme.

This place are connected with robbery people from Tijuana Mexico from the las 7 months I visit this place to see how many people at the and looking for cellphones wallet and purse this time was my wife first the cellphone and then the purse we asking for cámara records they just ignore us I track the cell phone it’s in Tijuana some people the I asking went the looking for the items they tracked the same place Tijuana same address I reported to the sandiego police and Mexico police’s just 2 days ago I will let you know the results

I got my phone stolen here and was made to feel very uncomfortable by multiple men in the club. It felt as though the culture of the club was such that people felt they could simply walk up to women and grab them to dance with them. Ultimately when one man put his hand up my skirt, I ran out of the club, at which point I found that my phone was missing (including my phone wallet containing my drivers license, school id, health insurance card, and 2 credit cards). After the fact, I discovered that there were charges on my card from a local smoke shop. Between being violated and my personal property being stolen, I will not be visiting again

Celebrated my wife’s birthday this past weekend, we had a large group of 20+. Brandon took care of us by situating us in the best possible spot with ample room for my large group! Nia did an amazing job all night, continuously passed by to ensure we had what we needed.

The venue is pretty neat. Any single venue with multiple rooms and bars is cool. Add a different vibe and theme, it gets some kudo points. Security looks and seems quite daunting but they are people and rather nice for the most part. Drinks were probably expensive.... but that part.. I dont know.It was a Saturday night. There were plenty groups and people to maneuver through. There seemed be more and more people even through closing.At first, seemed like dress code was gonna be strict and that typical nu-vegas rubbish seemingly faded as venues became EDM show converts.Anyways. 40 or 30 for parking was obnoxious for nearby lots. Place was fun. Music was good and people were drunk.. good times

Careful before you come here. They pick and choose who to let in based on their ridiculous dress code that they don’t even follow. It feels really great to be not let in here for wearing Nike’s even though half of their clientele was wearing Nike’s inside and on their property. Just make sure if you want to wear Nike’s to bring a lot of girls with you. Not LGBT friendly.

I went here yesterday for veterans day weekend, and I was in and out in 5 minutes. It was SO HOT My girlfriend almost passed out from heat exhaustion, and I was drenched in sweat. When we tried to get a refund for our $20 cover charges, they were very rude to us, and they said there was no one to help us with that, so wed either have to leave or tough it out. Apparently the AC was broken, but thats not an excuse for the terrible customer service, and it shouldnt be full price if Im not going to have as good of a time. Im never going back again, if you want a fun trendy night club to go to, check out atomic, or American Junkie. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

🎶Roll up to the club, then yo phone’s missing🎶if you’re not an epileptic you’re about to be with security and their little DD battery powered seizure inducers they flash in your face. I about slipped in some leaky toilet water and got my phone stolen (it’s nut to butt in there, yuh heard). The only reason why this is getting 5 starts is because the guy in the suit with the slicked back hair was easy on the eyes.

The hospitality and ambiance is exactly what my crew and I were looking for! The vip host and bottle servers were attentive and welcoming. I love how they have a 3 in 1 vibe where you can find a hip-hop and Latin floor in one place. We will definitely be booking another table soon!

DJ on the bottom floor was pretty bad. If it wasnt bad bunny it was terrible remixes that never dropped. Also the club was overly packed, which made it difficult just to dance in place. Very very hot inside... I was a huge fan if onyx pre-covid, idk what changed but it is not worth the hype it has recently gotten.

Worst service ever in VIP!! No security watching there VIP tables. Other guest just jumping over our table. Numerous times I asked for security no one came. I had to get into a fight with another guest that was disrespecting my wife at our VIP table. Then they kicked us out of our VIP table. I really dont recommend this place. I used to like this club. But after what happened Im not going back again worst 480 dollars wasted on a so called VIP table plus another 200 dollars ordering drinks. Really disapointed.

So went to Onyx for the first timeworn my friends for my sister’s birthday and we had so much fun! It has 3 floors so you have choices for the type of vibe you want! You will not be disappointed.

Probably my favorite club. Ever. Gone in as VIP bottle service and just normal entry, both experiences were great. Music, light show, dancers in the main room. LOOOVEEE the second and third rooms - for reggaeton and latino dance.

Smoking, including e-cigarettes, are not allowed indoors in CA, but when I told a staff member (who was inside on the job) someone was smoking inside he laughed at me and said “I’m smoking too”. So that’s the quality of staff here.

I’ve been traveling the world and I’ve been to many clubs but I have never experienced anything like this before the first issue was that they didn’t validate the guest list and made you pay I voiced my opinion on the issue and the response was “too bad”. I still went ahead and paid upon stepping forward the supervisor/manager in the front entrance refused to let me in and embarrass me infront of everyone their, I found this to be the most unprofessional act ever from a big business such as this. I will continue to pass this info around so that my friend base don’t support this club anymore!

My sister was physically assaulted by one of the men in the sections. I took her to the security guards, they could see she was crying and also saw the bite marks, but they kicked US out and not them…don’t go here if you care about your own safety.

This is one of those if I could give them 0 stars I would kind of posts! Back in October my friends and i went to downtown to celebrate a 21st birthday and arrived on a party bus. Once we arrived we decided to get VIP service and chose the one for only 6 people which costs us $500! Within minutes of us having the table I had to leave due to a friend being way too intoxicated. Long story short I went back in to tell my friends and family I was leaving only to see the table had been cleared out! We literally had the table for AN HOUR! I have reached out to the club and first spoke to Carolina who said Erik the bar manager would contact me and to send them a detailed email which I did and literally didnt hear back until January only to be told hed get back to me in a couple days! Well its been 3 weeks and I have yet to hear anything! So DONT go here and spend your damn money because they will screw you over! Erik gave me 3 excuses as to why the table was taken from us, first it was because no one had wristbands BUT the 3 people that were actually there DID HAVE them, second excuse was because IF THE BOTTLE IS ALL GONE THEY LIKE TO RESALE THE TABLE TO ANOTHER PARTY!!!! First of all when he said that blew my mind because the few times we have got bottle service one of the reasons is usually so we have somewhere to chill. Idk about anyone else but i wouldnt spend $500 bucks knowing we would be kicked out because we finished a bottle that we purchased! Total bs if you ask me. And then when i commented on all that he said because my friend was drunk but that was even dumber because she wasnt at the table for that long anyways! We got removed from the club when she was in the bathroom so they didnt even know she was at that table! Anyways dont spend money here or get vip because they will SCREW YOU OVER!!!! I will be writing a review on every damn website I can as well as reporting them to BBB because $500 for an hour is BS! I gave them 4 months to get back to me and only heard from them once.

So I came here with the world crawl group for a birthday celebration. The door people were really fast in getting our big group in. I got a drink in less than a minute from a pretty sweet girl who took the time to say “Hi I’m Cali, what can I get you?” instead of the rude head nod and finger! Everyone was really friendly at the club. I danced with a bunch of different groups that were hyped up! The lights and LED screen are really mesmerizing especially with a little vodka =P. We didnt leave with the bar crawl cause we were having so much fun! Next time I’m coming straight here!

Worst bottle service in the VIP area. Completely not worth the price! Upon arrival to our table we waited about 30 mins to get our bottle. After we received the bottle, our waitress did not show up once throughout the night. I personally had to ask security multiple times to get our waitress to come to our table. Then we waited an entire 45 mins to get our debit card back.Host also stated that DJs from NY were going to be playing music. He completely lied. It was the same horrible local DJs as usual.This is the first time Ive ever been so upset that Ive had to voice my opinion by writing reviews!

3 dance floors. Music was ok. Bartenders were fast up until we wanted to close our tab. They made us stand there for like 30mns. When I flagged a bartender down, he told me I would have to wait for the girl that opened my tab. The girl that opened our tab was busy and did not get to us until 30mns later. I believe this was done on purpose.

So, the only reason I am giving a one star is because I have to in order to make a comment. So my phone got lost, so I went back to the club to talk to someone security and ask if they can look... So long story short, I was told to call in the morning because a cleaning crew would come... No one answered my calls, it says to text a number and someone is suppose to answer... When I tried to leave a voicemail, the voicemail was full so no way to leave a one... The fact that their has been no response not even to an email sent. Really sucks that I havent received a response on lost phone... Dont loose anything at this club, you will not get it back depending on them calling you back...

The onyx room was a nice club the energy was good and there was good vibes. Our host Mundaca was very helpful to get us a booth and bottle.

Very much enjoyed our time at this venue! We visited from Out-Of-Town and we looked around for a place where we could dance, enjoy our selfs and feel comfortable with. We decided to visit The Onyx because right off the start when we contacted them to find out hours, cover charge and any other info we could we where helped with a very high and respectful quality very informative to make our experience the best.We where informed that there is a Guest list which people can sign up at their website. We where informed of the hours the guest list would be in effect as well as regular hours and cover charged which was very reasonable (Check their website or call ahead for specific dates and events they might have going on)We arrived about 30-45 minutes after doors opened and the doorman greeted us very nice, helped direct us as we got out of the cab to know where to enter the marked lines of rope for people the make line. fortunately at the time there was no one in line and when when right in. The door man looked up our names and info form the guest list and checked our IDs very prompt and efficiently allowing other guest behind us to move along and continue with out any wait.Once inside we made our first stop at the bar. There we found an awesome bartender who made us awesome drinks and he definitely was fast! Understandably I imagine thats the pace he does when the place is full to serve people with out having to wait too much and he did en excellent job! We kept coming back for more throughout the night and even when it was crowded he still delivered great tasting drinks!The room: You will find a very long and narrow dance floor expanding from just a little bit after you make your way in all the way to the very back of the room. There is short bar areas where people can place their drinks along the edge while standing up on both side either near the bar or along the opposite side where there is also tables for Bottle service and private groups who make table reservations I imagine.Along the wall opposite of the bar you will see a the wall covered fro side to side with this awesome looking electric display of lights that are coordinated to go along with the music thats playing controlled by a very talented and skillful man at a control booth near the back. In the middle of that long video display screen you will find the main DJ booth where there is enough room that you could approach the guy and perhaps request a song if he might be up for that. Not all places and not all DJs are open for that but in case this place does and the guys is open to that, you have enough walking room to do so. The time of our visit there was an opening DJ who played the early part of the night and at one point a 2nd DJ came on who totally blew the roof off the place with great music selections, great mixing skills and keeping the crowd hyped.Overall I highly recommend this place, be sure to arrive early and take advantage of the guest list on their website if available on the night you plan to attend, depending if they might have a special event or anything going on. Oh and yes, there is a downstairs area which I was not able to check out but I very much want to come back just to do that!

This place is filled with pick pockets. My wife and 3 friends had all of there wallets and two phones stolen. Highly recommend not taking anything here of importance.

This club has a crazy amount of pickpocketing. My phone was stolen, 2 friends had their wallets stolen, I was outside waiting to track my phone with several other people who had their phones stolen as well. They will even get into your closed purses. Onyx isnt doing enough to stop this.

This is the worst place I’ve ever been too. The bartenders are EXTREMELY disrespectful and staff just seem to find any way to kick people out regardless of the situation. this past weekend (saturday) a bartender thought it would be okay to spray water in my friends face. It was ridiculous and we were kicked out immediately after. This bartender thought it was okay and funny to spray water at people and then call us “paisas”. I couldn’t believe what was happening. People saw what happened and I hope management sees the surveillance cameras . This man was the rudest person and judging people based on the color of their skin. If that’s the kind of people who are hired then there’s is no desire for me to go back. if I could give this place no stars I would HIGHLY recommend NO STARS!!! Never going back .

It was my first time going to bar and Onyx charged us then told us we cant get in cause they dont allow gym shoes. Well, shouldve told us while were waiting in the line before they started to swipe my card and decided kick us out. I need my $60 back!

My 5 friends and I came here for Rumba Lounge on a Friday night. We took the Bachata class which was pretty cool! We all like Latin music but more so the raggaeton so we spent the rest of our night in that room. The theme is woodsy, oak tables and couches that look kind of like trees or bushes. The big mirrors were cool. I liked the lighting especially. Not really daark with strobe lights like upstairs. I could actually see people and where I was going. Everyone had such a good time! There was a bunch of cute Latin guys that taught us a few moves. Music was really upbeat! We had a few basic drinks and beers from the bar. Sometimes there was a few minutes wait and sometimes they helped us right away. Went upstairs for a bit to check it out but preferred the Latin music. . Good vibes all around. I recommend it!!

The hosts at the door are unprofessional and unwelcoming. No wonder every time that I walked by this place I never had a desire to stop by and spend a single penny here. First time here and I hate it!!! It was my friends birthday and not even for that they could have some empathy about it. $20 dollars at the door, margaritas are $15 disgusting and super sugary, the bartender ruined my Casa Amigos Margarita by adding cheap stuff like sweet and sour and Triple Sec. I can buy same Casa amigos Margarita at a high scale bar in Gaslamp for $15 with quality ingredients like fresh lime juice and agave. Never coming back here. Do not waste your money, time and energy here go to Altitude, Top of the Hyatt, Noble Experiment, The Nolen. There are way better options with excellent customer service and quality drinks

Good DJs and the instructors look like they are good dancers. However, the girls at the club are by far the worst Bachata dancers I ever danced with. And Im a dance instructor visiting from LA. Also its not free for guys before 10:30, I only got a discounted rate. I regret not going to Sevilla night club earlier that night. But at least Onyx had good AC.

The behavior of bussers in this place is abusive: they take all unattended glasses, whether empty or full! The first time, I was on the dancefloor when I saw the busboy quickly taking all glasses on the table. I was a little annoyed by that, but well, I thought it happens to everybody to make a mistake, and my glass was getting close to the end anyway. But it happened again the same night, I was mercilessly sanctioned for 5 min of inattention, and this time my glass was literally half full! I mean, it is a nightclub, so people are supposed to go dancing and leave their drinks aside for a bit, right?

They said that the free guestlist ended at 10:30pm and let the girls at 10:35pm in front of us go in for free. When they tried to charge us I asked why the girls in front of us got in for free if they were late as well and got upset about it and tried to overcharge us. I got upset about it and they got overly upset about me getting upset and let the girls behind me go in for free as well. I thought this was extremely petty & went to another club. All I did was ask a question, no need to get petty about it. Ive gone to this place before and it was boring anyways lol

First time there and i had a great time. The bar is always packed but bartenders are good with drinks, and pretty fast... What i liked the most was the crowd, they are there to party and have a good time.

One of the best nights! Took my cousins for the VIP bottle service and we all had a great time! We will be back

Not worth your money ($20 cover) or time to go. There’s no room to dance and the downstairs bar area is like a humid sauna with no ventilation. It’s disgusting. You can’t even breathe. It’s smells bad and the music is subpar.

I’m from out of the town and came for a fun night out with my guys, the girls here are hot and the dance floor is packed!! We got vip at the end of the night and had our server Ruby do an amazing job. We’re def coming back. Onyx the club fosho

CHECK YOUR BANK STATEMENT! My card got charged for two different transactions. I only had one tab and yet they charged my card for two. This is very unprofessional, dont you guys check signed receipts? Or do you guys just guess which card to charge??? Its impossible to get a hold of someone to get your issues resolved!

Awesome night club downtown.. Very spacious. Has three different clubs in one.. Staff is always super friendly and helpful. Definitely#1 club in San Diego.

Horrible place! Very biased and racist towards people not from this country. A group of us went there to have some drinks and party but when my friend showed her passport from Mexico to the bouncer, he confiscated it claiming it was fake and wouldnt give it back to her. She has been entering and exiting the country for years with no such issue. She even showed him a different ID with the same information! After about an hour of pressing the issue, they finally returned it but not after making her cry and ruining her night. If you are looking to be alienated and bullied at the front door, this is the place to be. Never going back; If I could, I wouldnt even give this place a single star

I didnt know this place had 3 floors until my friend told me! We could hear the music from across the street. Literally, friday night, the only lit hip hop music weve heard.

The downstairs Thin Room has nice Latin Music split over 2 rooms. The drinks are pricey and not that good. The crowd could be better as well.

First time here, security was efficient and very outgoing. Love how the club has 2 levels and 3 dance floors. Would recommend!

I was about to book bottle service at this place I myself am traveling to San Diego it was looking to have a good time here but after seeing all these comments and post about how they don’t take care of people getting a section throws me off quite a bit do any of you have any other suggestions for clubs in San Diego?

Very fun nightclub, bouncers are somewhat rude though but i believe thats just part of the job.

This place was very nice, talent was very attractive, but DJ was way off. Music was two years late and a lot of drunk people bumping into each other that cant handle their alcohol.

The bouncer is a hypocrite; don’t waste your time if you are wearing Nike shoes.This past Friday night the birthday girl wanted to go into Onyx. We were in a very large party bus group with the over whelming majority being females. However, the bouncer who identified himself as Martin (a short bald Mexican) would not allow me, “or any one wearing sneakers” in. I was wearing Nikes and our group would not have had such a negative experience if he judged everyone the same. They began to let other guys in that were wearing Vans and Timberland work boots! The birthday girl pleaded to allow us to keep our group together but the bouncers’ bias and negative behavior became overwhelming. When she began to cry we went to Sevilla Night Club where they were more than happy to have a large group, with the majority being girls. We had a great night after that. I’ve been going out for years and I have never had any issues with wearing Nikes. I don’t know what that guys issue was but I would recommend others to not even bother with that place when there are so many other great options in SD.

Went here for my Bday, had a great time it was my first time going here as well and the staff and security took very well care of me. Go here its a must see experience!

Very rude gate staff. This is not a good place to go because staff is really rude and acts like police officers push in lines. Omnia is a batter choice lads. Great environment and staff engage with people really friendly.

Everything was all love I popped a couple of bottles ...but it seemed like one of the bartenders had a problem she spilled my drink that she served and caught an attitude with me🤦🏾‍♂️ after she made almost $200 in tips from my table...
