Great place! Highly recommended! 👍🏻Wonderful cozy atmosphere, energetic and interactive performances, very talented pianists, attentive and courteous waiters and bartenders, excellent drinks 🍸! And I liked the concept of serving visitors in the restroom. That was my last (and unfortunately rainy) evening in San Diego, but I didn’t notice how 6 hours flew by while I was here!I was even pulled on stage to dance or something like that 😜- this was my finest hour!I’ll recommend The Shout to my friends and acquaintances!Definitivamente 💯
Oh what a night! What a great place for fun, music, laughter, and entertainment. The musicians were so talented and engaged the crowd. It was fun to hear a variety of music and be able to request songs.Food was fine. Nothing special. Burger was flavorful. Ceasar Salad was meh. But then our kind waitress told me so. But I ordered anyway as I wanted some greens.Highly recommend THE SHOUT.
Highly recommended place to go with friends and family. If celebrating birthdays it is a fun place to be. It is a small place so reserve your table ahead. They will add gratuity on your tab for 8+ people in your group. They good drinks but pricey. We did not order food because we had dinner prior to going to this place. The food looks good from the looks of the table next to us. The entertainers/musicians were very funny and able to play all requested songs. Not only they play great music but they are very clever with the show entertaining everybody and keeping everybody engaged with the show. We will definitely be back. Thanks for a wonderful night.
Excellent, talented, and entertaining pianists! A lot of fun for a date night/special occasion and is for an audience of 21 years or older. I would recommend getting a reservation beforehand and arriving around 6 pm when they open the doors to guarantee getting a seat on the weekend. If the drinking scene is not your thing, ~9 pm is a good time to head out (alcohol was setting in for a lot of folks, so the crowd became a bit rowdy and the speakers were turned up). Overall, great experience and will be back!
This a great place! The music is outstanding and an incredible vibe. We had an issue with a shot price and they fixed the total for me because I was told one thing and charged another. I really appreciate the genuine care and the management fixing the issue. Will definitely be back again when back in town!
We had a great time here while on vacation; they put on a great show. I gave the food three stars because I couldnt eat anything there as I have celiac disease. I appreciated the honesty about the possibility of cross-contamination. I will say that people seem to be enjoying their food.
Thank you so much for the freaking amazing night! This is our best anniversary and will be hard to top! I appreciate accommodating my mistake. You SAVED the day. Also WOW Cali bacon ranch wrap will live in my dreams for an eternity 😭♥️ service was also top notch. Can’t wait to come back. Remember to bring cash to tip the musicians! They are 100% worth it!
Not a true dueling piano performance. The audience makes requests with $$ and they play your song. So come with some cash and a great song the whole bar can sing-a-long with. Great energy, VERY entertaining, worth making a reservation. Great for groups adult parties or just a night out with the hubby. Tough to find parking on a Padres game night so arrive early.
There’s a $20 cover charge but it’s totally worth it. The show is impressive and so much fun to be apart of. The staff’s talent is amazing and we always have a great time when we go. It’s usually really packed so beware!
Great place for food, drinks and live music. The musicians do a really good job getting the crowd involved, it’s a ton of fun! We came for their first brunch attempt and it has been a wonderful experience.
Alex the bartender is focused and wanting to keep her bar clean! We saw someone reach into the garnish bin and she immediately took the bin someone reached in, threw it away, and replaced it immediately. All while in full service. She deserves the best!
This place is great. My wife and I come to the shout house every time we come down to San diego. The Dueling Pianos are so much fun to watch and listen to. If youre looking for an inexpensive night out and I would definitely recommend the shout house.
The performance is entertaining and amazing (how can they know so many genres?) The service was very efficient and capable considering how many people they were able to serve in the dark. The bison/boar/beef burger was delicious. The Beijing wings not so much. The cocktails were on the sweet side. Go for the day special on drinks.
Check your bill! We were overcharged $8 per bottle of wine. The waitress tried telling us we had an ‘old menu’ but I don’t buy it. Lots of drinking and great atmosphere and entertainment but it makes me wonder how often they overcharge drunk people.
“Tip your entertainment and your servers and you’re guaranteed to have a good time if you love music…. Omg this was a blast thank you so much Shout house you brought my party up for a dance and we laughed so hard. Any time we come back to San Diego we are coming here. I wish I could say something to make you feel what we felt.Just do it. What’s the worst that happens you enjoy some music?”
Dueling pianos are so darn fun! The piano players actually knew a song from Hamilton and played it for me! I really enjoy the food here and the service is pretty decent unless it starts to get busy then it gets a little bit harder to get drinks, I could’ve always gotten up and gone to the bar so I’m gonna give a free pass. I ended up walking in with no Rezo (I waited for one hour before the place opened) and got right in when the shout house opened so for the evening. I didn’t notice that there is a cover charge it was $15 for a Saturday night which I don’t think is bad but I did order a lot of food and drink it would be nice if there was not a cover charge if you buy so much stuff. Will defo come again!
Service / Server: Very nice and checked on us a lot to make sure we werent low on drinks.Musicians: Great talent and they really get the crowd into it !!Pay to Play: You can pay them to possibly play a song you request .... the more you give the better chance you have of them playing. By 8:00, dont bother !! There are sooo many requests theres no way they can get through all of them. If you want a chance of your song being played, it has to be your BDay, Bachelorette party, or get your request in early. All in All, its a great time !!
Amazing experience, it is really something different and fun! The food was great and that’s hard to say here in San Diego haha! Would totally recommend if you are visiting from a different town or if you want a new refreshing place to take your date to! Would highly recommend to reserve a table because seats are limited. And if you are going to request a song most definitely leave a tip!
So much fun! Ive only been during Comic Con, and I highly recommend it. Great show.
The manager, Emily (as told by the staff, though Im not certain of her name), discriminated against us by quickly ejecting us from the premises. According to others, my husband was allegedly throwing up in the bathroom. Emily falsely claimed that he admitted to this. When I spoke to my husband, he explained that security had demanded he leave, despite him clarifying that he was in the bathroom due to Hirschsprungs disease, which causes severe bowel issues.I calmly informed Emily that we would leave without causing any trouble but attempted to explain the medical situation. Her dismissive response was, Are you okay? before she walked away. I was shocked by her lack of understanding and compassion as we exited peacefully, highlighting a clear case of discrimination against my husband’s medical condition. I am really disappointed on how their manager dealt with such a sensitive topic and how rude she was. I am not one to leave a review, but I felt so disrespected, that I felt that I had to share due to Emily’s actions.
What is up with the $100 hold on our debit card for 7 days that no one told us about. If I hadnt called Shout Out, I wouldnt know why it was there. It appeared as debit on our account not as pending. When I called, a kind employee explained that management changed the rules and everyone gets a hold on their credit/ debit card. Saying too many people have skipped out without paying. I would want to stop that if I was the owner. But can they legally do that without notification? While I was at the bar getting our drinks, since our waiter opted not to wait on us since we werent ready to order the moment he arrived at our reserved table, the waiter and took our dinner order. My fiance gave the debit card. She said he spoke something but no chance she could hear him because of the decibel level. She thought he asked if she wanted to leave the tab open. So we paid the tab at the end of the night and left only to find the surprise debit in the account the next day. When I asked to speak to the manager when I called, he conveniently doesnt take calls. You can only email him. I still wonder if that is legal as hotels have to get your permission before placing a hold? The food was their normal. Average American grub. Mixed drinks are better if you get them at the bar yourself. The pianists were pretty raunchy. 2 guys, one girl. If you want somewhat clean dueling pianos, that is not the place. Weve been there multiple times. This was the least favorable experience so far. This is not the place to take a first date you are trying to impress with chivalry. Nor a place to take your future in laws if they are conservative minded and youre trying to convey your morality. It is a place to go party with a group of like-minded people, sing along and cut up to your fav tunes.
We were visiting San Diego and looking for something fun to do. Well, we found it. This place was awesome. The food was the only negative. Basic bar food but the service was fantastic even though the place was packed for a Wednesday night. The piano players were so good and entertaining. We had a blast. Highly recommended!
Being in downtown I had high hopes for this place. I was disappointed. The cover fee was crazy considering there was no open seats for us. We walked around for at least 20 minutes until 2 people left, we were stuck in a walk way so we were bumped every time someone walked through. The drinks were expensive and watered down and the entertainment was just ok.
So if you are downtown SD and happen to be out looking for good music and fun, I highly recommend going here. The dueling pianos were awesome we had a great night and will definitely go back. I suggest you check it out, you will not be disappointed. Enjoy
Had a BLAST here! And Courtney, one of the performers that night, was phenomenal! Our table started referring to her as Queen Courtney and got super excited every time she was the lead on a song ☺️ All the musicians were very talented and had superior showmanship skills. The food and drinks were only okay, but it’s the experience, environment and entertainment you are actually paying for so I felt fine about it all things considered 😉
WOW!!!! What awesome pianists and singers they are!!! It was so much fun! They had the audience sing-along, you could request songs, and the servers were super attentive to bringing beverages to your tables. There was a good atmosphere and vibe. Food was available as well.We called ahead to make reservations, this required a $5 deposit per person, and we had to be there no later than 8 p.m. to make the reservation.
Had an absolutely amazing time. My partner has been wanting us to visit San Diego JUST so he could go back to Shout! House and I can honestly see why. Brilliant and a must do for any visitor to the city.
We were lucky to get a table for New Years eve at The Shout House. The best piano bar Ive ever been to do far. Just love the vibe n energy. The gig started by 7.30pm and went on till about 1am with multiple singers and musicians taking the stage including the staff. We all got a complimentary champaign in a branded glass for our new year toast which we could bring back.Guests could send across requests with a small tip and the musicians also actively interacted with the crowd. The staff were super attentive and their service was top class. We mostly had bubblies and short eats like chicken tenders n salads.Definitely going back the next time im in San Diego.Dont forget to book a table if your planning to visit on a busy nite. There is a small charge for booking the table in the middle.
Ok, so ive been to Shout! a few times and every time its a memorable experience. The pianist make it so fun, bringing folks onto stage, taking requests, playing all sorts of songs from hiphop to disney to country to the classics, they know their stuff. The crowd is always entertained. Food and drinks are great, the place gets crowded but its fun.
Great place for a fun time. The musicians are uber talented. Their ability to play almost any song is so impressive.Staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was extremely good for bar food. French fries are killer!Gave 4 star because online reservations website is very clunky and difficult. Also, the staff is very strict about dancing in any of the aisles or standing, etc.
With some friends for beer and snacks. Great piano players performing a nice show. Although the place was half empty, the security guys were acting as if their lives were in danger. Really destroyed the otherwise nice atmosphere.
We had an incredible night at The Shout in San Diego. The musicians truly made our experience unforgettable. They were not only amazingly good, but also funny and welcoming. The atmosphere was vibrant and the drinks were great. This place is a must-visit for anyone looking for a great night out in San Diego.
Ive been to lots of piano bars all over the country and this one is my favorite! The pianists are so talented, the drinks are great, and an overall very fun time! Highly recommend!
Went there for their Mothers Day family show. The musicians were amazing. I cant wait to go again with a group of friends for their normal 21+ nights.
I was looking a place similar to The Howl at the moon, this place is not the same, but is similar, I had fun.Service was excellent, drinks were good, I give only 4 stars because the food wasnt good and because I try to make reservations via telephone, but they never answered me, I had some trouble making reservations online. But other than that, it was fun!It will be nice if they add a dance area :) .
Wow! I wish I could give you 10 stars! What a night! If you love live music, singing along and very very VERY talented artists, this is the place! Service was top notch, security was polite and communicated well, people at the door were awesome as well. Cannot say enough about this place!Bravo.
Checked this place out for our first time in San Diego on a Sunday night and had an amazing time! Host outside was super nice and helpful and got 50% off on Sunday for working in the service industry. Drinks are average priced for the area and our server was great and checked on us frequently. Show was amazing and we were entertained the entire time!
The angry lady who was the manager of the place on Wednesday night made our experience very unpleasant (~30 person group). She was extremely rude the entire night to our group and many others. Avoid this place if you want good service and a pleasant experience. The band was great so it was a massive shame that the management were so rude in treating their guests. There was one guy named AJ who was very nice and helpful throughout the night but otherwise management made us all feel very unwelcome.
Went here after dinner with another couple. Good place for young adults celebrating something. Plusses: lots of fun for people watching. Big part of the show is audience participation. Musicians are talented and keep things lively. Negatives: super noisy and crowded. Only a fraction of requests get played, pianists selects things that work for them. Better include a decent tip with your request.
A fun place, but in a bit of a sketchy area. Talented performers, good wait staff, restrooms have valet where you tip the attendant to use various items such as perfume or hair spray. Our tickets were $15/each for reserved seats; parking was $38. Maybe well catch a cab from our hotel when visiting San Diego again.
Amazing musical performances! Dueling pianists were great and very entertaining. Drinks and food were decent and affordable.
Terrific atmosphere and friendly, prompt service! This place is a must visit in San Diego if you want a feel good evening out!
This was such a fun place. There were 3 musicians that rotated so the music never stopped. They were very engaging and kept the crowd involved throughout. I would recommend getting a reservation though because it was packed. I didnt get the food, but from what people around me were ordering, it looked delicious.
My visit to The Shout! House was shorter than I would have wanted, but it was awesome! I only had one drink while I was here, a $7 Angry Orchard. A bit pricey, but the service was quick. The main attraction of the bar is the dueling pianos. Its as great as you can imagine, two people playing old and new renditions on their pianos as they compete for the best interaction with the crowd. It was amazing and itll be the first stop I make when I go back to San Diego.
The place is very noisy, the sound is so loud that all customers need to talk screaming to be able to understand each other.I don’t recommend it to those who don’t like noise.
Garage Kitchen next door has a fantastic happy hour, and is a great lead into the Shout House. A few drinks at the Garage, and then take a few steps over to the show - 6/9/2022 - couldnt have been better. Super talented players, multiple instruments, incredible voices - an off duty I presume staff member in the audience jumped on stage for one song - what an INCREDIBLE voice and such a treat. The place is high tempo and for someone who normally would not due this (seemed kitsch·y, and for people who drink Budweiser, vacation in an RV, love tent camping at 40+ years old, love cruise and all inclusive vacations to the same place for 20 years...) - it was not like that at all. Great show, highly recommend!
Top drawer, so much fun. It was a great night out and would go monthly if I lived in San Diego, dont miss it, if you have a chance.
We didnt order food just drinks!! Best Birthday I have had in a long time. The pianists were amazing. Definitely not some ol boring piano bar. Loud, fun, good drinks, great prices, amazing vibe and atmosphere!!!
What a fun place! AJ was serving me and he ensured I had the best time ever. Cheers!!
This place is awesome...and busy. If you are a lover of music and improv, this is the place to go! Musicians are great, drinks and staff are good, and everyone is having a good time.Definitely a go-to place when in SD.
This bar is a blast! All three musicians we saw were incredibly talented. Not only could they play every song give across genres, they were fun and energetic at engaging the audience. Even on a Sunday night it was a full house. Highly recommend!
This is my second visit to San Diego in a few years and Im so glad that I came labor day weekend. My Lyft driver recommended the place to me. I noticed there was a cover charge and I told the hosts at the front door I didnt know if I would like the place. So, the cashier told me to stand to the side to figure it out 😂🤔. So when I went outside this lady on her smoke break heard me and she said oh, your going to love it! Your going to have a good time. There is a seat at my table if you want to go and sit down. So I went back in and sat at her table and boy, did I have a good time 😂. The place was packed and if I didnt have a seat I would have been standing. I think the funniest part was them trying to play Dr. Dre on the piano and the tambourine playing, while beat boxing and singing milkshake by Kelis. I have never laughed so hard. That was a nice evening night cap. Thanks for the hospitality of the waitress and stage crew. Great time San Diego 🎤❤️🕺🏾🎹🎺🎻🥁🎶
If you havent been to a dueling piano bar, youre missing out on life. Its truly an experience. Bring cash and a vibe
I recently went out of town and had the chance to visit The Shout House, a popular dueling piano bar. Though parking in the adjacent garage was a steep $30, it was worth it for the lively atmosphere inside.Reservations are highly recommended, as the bar can get quite crowded on weekends. Once seated, our server was attentive and helpful in guiding us through the menu. We ordered a few drinks and some appetizers, which were all enjoyable. The dueling piano show was a highlight of the night, with talented musicians playing a range of popular songs. As the night progressed, the show got a little raunchy for my taste, but many in the crowd seemed to be enjoying it. Its definitely a place for adults, and not recommended for families with children. The bathrooms were clean and well-maintained, which is always a plus. Overall, I had a good experience at The Shout House. If youre looking for a fun night out with good music and a lively crowd, this is definitely a spot worth checking out.
Super super fun place with great music, atmosphere, excellent pianists, fantastic crowd, open late, and overall great vibe and energy. You will enjoy it and definitely leave with a smile!!
Fun time. Great vibes/energy. $15 cover on the Friday we went. Overcrowded.
This was my first trip to the Shout House and I was blown away by the musicians skills. They can virtually play any songs from any request and puts on one hell of a performance. The drinks selection is pretty bland but I dont think you would mind at the songs they blast and the eventual buzz that would bring with the alcohol. Overall, I highly recommend.
The most fun you’ll have in gaslamp! The performers are all wildly talented, providing your night with not only seamless instrumental transitions, but also off-the-cuff humor and light roasting to the crowd. Worth the wait and cover charge on the weekends for sure, we went during the week and it was a bit more slow, but then your song is more likely to be played and you’ll have more chance of getting some spotlight!
10 stars if I could. fabulous live performance on the duelling pianos, amazing audience, great singalong. add delicious cocktails to the mix and there you have it - the best entertainment experience in San Diego. you gotta do it! suggest making reservations or showing up early (we queued at 650pm for a 7pm doors open on Thursday) because the place seems to fill up to capacity very quickly.
This was a fun place to go to in downtown San Diego. The atmosphere is electric, and the place was packed with people. People enjoying a great night out. Musicians were really creative and fun. You would think the food would be basic, but it was really really good!
This place definitely has the best live music for a bar that Ive been to in a while. Even with a shy crowd, they did a great job at getting folks involved. Theres not a bad seat in the house.
Definitely a vibe. Live music, beer, in a very exciting part of town.
Always a great time. Take cash to request your favorite songs. Musicians are so talented and can play any style of music!
Food and drinks were mediocre, but the entertainment was off the hook great!
What an awesome time!!!! HIGHLY recommend you make reservations. We didnt have reservations but got there right when they open. Although we were able to get in, we were not able to sit. Area by the bar was awesome but a few hours in, we were unable to see the pianos. It was such a fun night... talented and charismatic artists made a fun night.
The overall experience was amazing! The drinks were great, the piano players were incredible. The service itself not so much. We went on a Wednesday and it wasnt incredibly busy less than half capacity and the waitresses and bar were still over burdened. It took forever to get our drinks once other groups were seated and glasses were empty... our friend asked for change for 2 20s in order to tip the piano players for requested songs as is their request and it took almost 30 mins. The only complaint about the piano players was that a lot of paid for songs didnt get played, they should have cut off/ stopped requests to at least get the ones that were paid for played. Other than that it was amazing, lots of fun, interaction with the audience was great.
The Shout! House is an absolute blast. The piano players were very charismatic and talented. They took song requests, joked with the audience, and they were entertaining the entire evening. The food was what youd expect from any bar and the service was a little less attentive as the bar filled up, but what youre really here for is the entertainment, which is absolutely phenomenal.
I kind of expected to not like this place...boy, was I wrong. What a total blast! Came here with a large group, and by the end of our time we were all dancing and singing along with the outstanding entertainers! The talent of the piano players/singers was amazing, as was the way they worked the crowd. So much fun.The food was...ok. Drinks were good. But you go there for the entertainment, not the food. But do go...what a blast!
If you like party places this is definitely the place to be. It is so much fun. The atmosphere is perfect and loud. However I had to go to the bar to be served no one came up to me and asked me what I wanted. Food is good but nothing exceptional.
This was my second visit. It was just as much fun as the first! If you like good piano players, good eats and a crowd of karaoke singers, ( you dont have to sing on stage or alone), this is the place for you. Two pianos going at same time, paid requests( you choose the amount and song), then anyone can sing along. It can get rowdy with the best known songs, but everyone has a good time.Food and drink are available by cash or tab. Reservations are recommended, $5 per person, but plenty of non reserved seating in the gallery and at the bar.One drawback is parking is not easy to come by until after 8pm when parking meters stop collecting. All in all a fun night out by yourself or with friends. The eats are medium priced, but good for what you pay. Pizza is available.
Fun fun, fun!The only and the best piano bar in town!Everyone loves it! Its so much fun and get crowded really fast...You sing out of you all night long. Best place to celebrate different kind of occasions.it is great for big parties obviously you have to make a reservation in an advance if not just standing by the bar grabbing a beer you can have fun!Dont miss it! We brought wiggs for a Bday celebration but we were not the only ones😉
This is my favorite bar and dining experience in the gas lamp district. The atmosphere is aaaallways positive/uplifting and fun. The experience is one to remember if you have not experienced doing pianos before. The talent that they have is top-notch. The artists that perform are hilarious and skilled and take requests (Request played more when a generous tip is provided). Feel free to join in to the song and dance being an audience member. You can go on stage if you feel the opportunity is there, especially if it is your birthday or wedding party or anniversary or just want to do a requested song and be goofy. Drinks are made very well and Ive only had the pizza but the pizza was well worth it taste wise. This place will leave you with a big smile on your face . great place for a date.
We visit Shout as often as we can when in San Diego. Its a perfect after dinner entertainment spot for a small or large group. Drinks are a little pricy but thats ok given the entertainment. The guys on the keys are incredibly talented and have a great energy on stage. Well be back next time were in town.
If youre a fan of music, you must try The Shout! House! We were invited by friends to Sunday Brunch and we had an amazing time! Music and people watching at its finest. Food was good and so was the service. A fun way to spend Sunday afternoon if you are looking for a entertainment and food all in one.
Loved the show food was okay, I would definitely come back!!
Went here for the second time last night and had an even better time than my first visit!! This place is so much fun. My friends and I didn’t get a table/seat due to how crowded it was, but standing up was arguably better since we could dance. The musicians here are SO talented and know so many different songs and genres. They are experts at keeping the crowd engaged and the energy level remains high throughout the entire night. The building can get extremely busy which can make it hard to find a good view of the pianos or to order food, but if you’re looking to just drink a bit, enjoy the music, sing/dance along and have a great time, The Shout House is the place for you!!I didn’t order food this time around but I remember it being decent last time I was here. The prices are a bit high but overall not too different from other places in Gaslamp. The only real drawback of this place is the parking situation, so plan to Uber or take public transport if you can. There are nearby parking garages but they can get very busy and expensive. Don’t even try to street park, it’s not worth it. However this paragraph isn’t a criticism of The Shout House since it applies to literally everywhere in Gaslamp. Just a tip!!If you’re looking for a fun night out, come to The Shout House! You won’t regret it, and don’t be afraid to get up and dance!
Very fun! Hard to get a table but a lot of space to stand
Always a great experience at the Shout House. The performers are incredibly talented and security runs a tight ship. Drinks and food are decent but the main attraction is the music.
We had SO much fun!!! I recommend the carne asada fries. The musicians were awesome, the servers were great.
Had an excellent evening at the Shout House! The performers were enthusiastic, hilarious, and creative with all of the audience requests. Theres a LOT of interaction with the crowd, and individuals. Jon, Jeff, and James were outstanding. Highly recommend a stop here!
Wasnt sure what to expect. The atmosphere was fun. The wait staff was very accommodating, but as soon as the piano players started. Everything changed. It was amazing!!The crowd cheered the musicians. The musicians cheered the crowd. The music was AWESOME. Loved when the singers added their own spin on songs.I thought the preacher for this particular KGB event did great. Then to see him jump in on the piano and sing, as well as the others! Touche! The lighting was the only downside.
Super bummed. We tipped $25 to hear a song and requested it twice within 90mins and they didn’t play it 😩😩😩 we even stayed until close to make sure we didn’t miss it.Our server was great!
I love piano bars and this one was a ton of fun. We went during the week when it was a packed but calmer group. It was perfect to let loose with friends without bumping into strangers for a spot on the dance floor. The pianist was excellent and took requests from the crowd which really makes you respect the pianist for having such a wide variety of songs ready to perform!
Worst place ever. Paid a $20 covered for 7 people to be told that we couldn’t stand anywhere when all the tables are full. The “manager” told us we couldn’t get a refund unless we emailed someone. I was not able to ask when the time frame of the refund would be without him arguing with us. They are money hungry and do not care about their clientele.
Great musicians, but the sound system is a bit too loud. The crowd was certainly enthusiastic, but a couple of people appeared to think that they are the featured attraction. The food and drinks were good, and the service staff was very friendly and efficient.
The piano performers were amazing. The staff was awful! Our group of 7 women for a 40th birthday came in and they did nothing but watch us like a hawk the whole night until they kicked us out while we sat at our table. Awful service! Will never go back!
The Shout! House is quite the immersive experience.I was traveling around that time and happened to run into a group of singers who were amazing to listen to.Located right in the heart of the downtown square of San Diego, The Shout! House 🏠 is a prodigy to be in a room of its own.Serving local pub fair and a wide variety of drinks, The Shout! House is one of the coolest restaurants Ive been to.The customer service at this restaurant is really good as well as they do serve their guests very well. They offer you suggestions and options to choose from, especially the specials that happen on a regular basis. There is a designated drink for all occasions and its amazing what kind of drinks you can order.Ill definitely be back to The Shout! House again and experience it with friends and family 🎶🎷🎸
I love the Shout House! Ive visited this spot on all of my trips to San Diego -- and it truly defined the vibe of the city and Gaslamp Quarter for me. The dueling pianos, the throwback songs, and the cheery nature of the musicians makes this one of the best places Ive been to. It gets pretty packed on weekends, but we got lucky and a very friendly server helped us bag a table right by the stage. It was a wonderful experience to feel the energy of the place, and sing along to the classics!
Fun experience with a group of people. The music was good and the players are entertaining. Drinks are fairly priced and service was efficient.
It was so much fun. The dueling pianos were very entertaining, and they did not disappoint. Their multi-instrument talent is amazing. I highly recommend this place when you want to have a great time, and you will enjoy the vibe of exciting entertainment.
Positive: The musicians are great!Negative: This bar/the bartenders snapped my ID in half. From what Im told, in California its standard business to keep a ID and credit card behind the counter when you open a tab. When I checked out, I received a credit card and my Colorado ID split down the middle along the bar code. When I confronted the bartender about it, they walked away from me. (Im a 33 yr old male.)
12/10/2022: ruined our night. they lied about table availability to collect a $15 cover. However the truth is you won’t get a table, unless you payoff the staff and the people at a table once it’s full. Very shady practice….. but the piano music was cool.We did see one single table open up in 45 minutes and went to take it but some guy came up very very very angry and said he paid $100s to the staff and people sitting there to get it so it was his (confirmed by the people leaving).Just be prepared to stand all night if you don’t get a seat (at the beginning or have a reservation) no matter the lies they tell to get you in. It would also be nice for them not to lie to folks, just so they can collect the cover money. Kind of ruined our night since we took their word, paid the cover, waited for a table to eat but couldn’t eat anywhere so we left. If they were truthful we would’ve probably eaten somewhere else and then maybe came back and been happier standing.BTW there’s also some random 4% made up surcharge on top of pricing, taxes, and tips.
This place has great drinks, music and even comedy. The artists were really funny. The songs were great and live music is always a hit when the voices and play exceeds your expectations. This was my first time here and I have been in San Diego for 20 years. I definitely recommend this place for a great entertainment experience.
Talented musicians, cheerful crowds, friendly vibes, the Shout house experience amazes us each time we visit! Make sure to reserve seats or line up before open to secure a great viewing spot on popular nights.
Its a lovely place with an unusual (at least for me) style. Piano duo, you write the name of a song in a paper and leave it on the piano with a tip and the guys and girl play and sing it. Nice milieu, some drinks. There are tables and there is the bar. They dont serve food after 10 though. But its pretty cool. Ill be back
I have been to piano bars all over the country, this one was ok, they seemed more into playing songs that were not sing along, some I have never heard or they were not sing along, it was still fun, but at other houses One person sets the tone for the whole night!
Amazing establishment! Always fun, service is hit and miss either super or theyve disappeared, and we have to go thru bartender to get our order. It happens.
Killer show, tons of fun, definitely recommend reserving a seat ahead of time (they put your name on a table, and you come in without having to arrive early). The only request is that they adjust the levels for the show at some times, because it would be great if it didnt suddenly get super loud (spikes Im volume are frequent)
Super fun bar!! Insanely talented and hilarious musicians. Lots of crowd involvement too. The drinks are also good as well!
The pianos were great fun! The food is average, drinks are good. Make sure you get reservations before going! Cover at the door is $15 per person if you dontnhave reservations and you might not even get to sit down if you go a little past 7 pm. If you plan to walk in, try to go before 6 to get a decent bar seat to watch the show.
Very fun! Dont expect to hear your requested song played. We had a large party of 14 seated at 5 tables (handled nicely by the staff when we arrived at slightly different times). The close out process after a few drinks and low light was a bit cumbersome. That said, cant go wrong here. Fun date night place or for a group event.
Absolutely fantastic place! Came for the piano and singalongs, stayed for the piano and singalongs
Performers absolutely get 5 stars!!! This rating is for the staff and the abrupt close. The bar still had ~50 people and was supposed to close at 1AM.1135pm performer says hes been told to announce last call.1140pm performers say they have time for only 3 songs, one minute later theyve been told to wrap it up in 5 minutes.1145pm performers end, lights immediately come on. People are trying to finish the drinks they just got from last call.I go to the washroom come out at 1150pm - bar staff are ushering people out the door. My partner wasnt even allowed to use the washroom. Everything has been cleared and everyone is out the door w/ it locked by 1155pm.I have never had an atmosphere and night turn so drastically in 20 minutes....not sure what would have happened at midnight - I dont think Cinderella even bolted that fast. So odd. Hopefully a one-off but it ended the night on such a sour note.
Reasonably priced, great atmosphere, kind staff, and the entire assemble of servers and musicians sing/dance with you. They really know how to engage the audience, pump it up, and entertain. Loved this place and cant wait to go back!!!
Nice place with very good musicians, good food and drinks and reasonable prices. Quality entertainment in SD. The only negative was the freezing cold room temperature around 65F.
Here on vacation from NY, soo glad we checked this place out! Such a fun, lively interactive experience! We spent our whole Saturday night here. Would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting downtown San Diego !
Great atmosphere, tasty burgers (I had the vegetarian patty, and it was really spicy), nice staff, and a vast variety of beer. Also, it has the flair of a place with some history, which gives it a more genuine vibe compared to the countless chains everywhere.
Small cover charge on Friday and weekends (15$), fairly cheap drinks, (~10$ for a couple shots weight). But thats not what youre here for. The music and crowd are great. The performers have excellent drunk person handling for any level of live pop music enjoyment.
This was a GREAT experience! The entertainment was so fun and engaging. The drinks were also good. I was very happy to get in, as we didnt have reservations. We got into a line outside about 6:30 and got in shortly after the show started. I was a little put off by the smell of urine when first entering, but wouldnt be the first bar to have experienced that at. It was pretty full and got hot, but seemed to cool down and got more comfortable as the night went on. The fun dueling piano entertainment is definitely worth coming to check out. Definitely make a reservation for a table if you are coming for a special occasion! No way not to have fun.
If you’re looking for a place to take a group and have a memorable night the shout! Is that place. The crowd, service, and above all music is incredible. I went there for my bachelor party and it was hands down the highlight of the trip. Thank you for having us and making it a special night.
My favorite place in the gas lamp district. The bartenders were super nice as well and had great service even though the place was packed.
Visiting the shout house was so much fun that my wife and I ended up visiting two more times during our brief time in the San Diego area. Highly recommend it!
It’s an experience, And I great one! The live music was very entertaining and the musicians were all very talented, each unique putting their own spin on songs. Great service as well that will come up and get your order even if you are standing. I will be back.
I have been to a few piano bars but this was hands down the most fun I have had at a piano bar. The three musicians were incredibly talented, the staff was very friendly and attentive to our tables needs but the pinnacle of the night was when a customer was asked to come on stage and sing a lady Gaga song. She had the voice of an angel and got a very deserving standing ovation when the song was done. Only in a place like this can you experience such hidden talent. Amazing time.
So much fun! I absolutely love coming here!! 🤩 Great atmosphere, I LOVE THE ENERGY with bangin live music; piano battles. Great cocktails with the perfect pour; not watery or boozeful. The food is sublime--full of flavor, & always cooked to perfection. The staff is amazing, bringing the whole scene together; Im always greated with a smile, & its infectious!!! 😁 Theyre always crowded, but 1) its expected; this place is phenomenal! 2) should really consider reservations (plan ahead if youre visiting) or the VIP Packaging-- IT IS SOO WORTH IT!!! With special perks, & great seating. Regular people wait in line, & pay the cover. VIP is no cover, no wait line, immediate seating. Also auto charges 20% gratuity for 8+ people in group; again expected & worth it!! Stop thinking about it, & just GO there!! 😍
Awesome place. Main customers seem to be birthday parties but you can just hang out at the bar. Expect a crowd. They have a country night. Cocktails could be better.
Super fun, great entertainment! Prices are a little steep (but then again its downtown) and the bar tenders are generally just okay, although the lady I had on Thursday was very sweet! I have been several times over the years and the entertainment is always good and worth the cover charge but the getting a drink situation is a little rough sometimes. Over all its a good time!
Oh my goodness!!! These guys played the pianos and drums and even a base. There was 2 pianos. It was like the battle of the pianos. Or maybe co-op pianos. And then a girl joined on stage and took over the piano while the guys did the drums and base. Seriously the atmosphere was crazy fun. The waitresses were nice and beautiful. The music was off the hook. And everything felt so alive. I look forward to coming back here again! Highly recommended for any time. Love this place!
Went on Wednesday night for the first time with reservations. Had a great time with my husband and our friend who flew in from out of town. The pianists were awesome, very talented, funny and were all around great entertainment. The place wasnt packed being a Wednesday, but the night was a lot of fun. The staff were friendly and service was quick. Definitely will be back for a weekend night of fun.
So so so so friggen fun!!! Worth the cover of 15 bucks we paid on a Saturday night--- all of the entertainers were very talented 👌
Such a great time at the shout house, the bartenders were so friendly and amazing. The show was just so great and interactive! Great time for a solo traveler better time with friends.
If you like dueling pianos and comedy. Go here. Great crowd engagement and overall great time.
Got there as soon as the doors opened. Unfortunately, didnt have a reservation. So, thankfully, we were first in line as there were only 3 seats at the bar still available. Aside from that, we had an absolutely amazing time! The drinks and the food were good as well.
We are so happy that theyre back open again. My wife and I visited Sat and Sun and had a blast both nights.Sunday night they were slow so they closed early but Eric (one of the pianists) sat and talked with us for a few minutes while we finished out drinks. This is definitely a staple of our downtown activities which we recommend to anyone who is looking for a great fun atmosphere in downtown San Diego.
Terrible, you’ll be fighting for seats and not be able to see anything. If you don’t have reservations, you better not go inside! Music is not that great and it’s not worth standing up for or the cover charge.
Music performance is great. Service by the rest of the staff is terrible.
We love the Shout House! This is a great place to go on a date or with a large party. We got reservations for a birthday party (26 people) and had one of the balconies to ourselves. Several times throughout the night people would try to squeeze into our space but security consistently kept them out. The staff was fantastic, the drinks are good (and reasonably priced), and the atmosphere is great.
We had a fun experience. My only issue was that I didnt look at the bill before paying and was charged an extra beer. Oh well. Family had fun though.
Most lively, funny and engaging music place. Great performers, very very vibrant place. Wish they took reservations and waitlist, there was some waiting outside but expected for Friday evening.
I visited The Shout House on, Friday 6-14-19 We arrived promptly 6:30 pm and there was only one table left (We had no reservations). Reservations are the way to go. I had an outstanding time. The drinks were deliciously made (Cadillac Margaritas). By 7 pm the place was packed and the music was going. We had dinner there and surprisingly it was very good. I had the steak frites ( asked for medium and it was cooked perfectly) and my friend had the burger and fries which was also cooked exactly as asked. The musicians are exceptional. You can tell they love what they do! The crowd was very mixed age-wise 20s-70s. One big, fun party. Great evening!
What a fun place and fun music, though I noticed that patrons could make song requests but if it didnt come with cash tip, your song choice was not played. I still had fun.
Went to The shout! House on Tuesday May 17.. server was Chris... excellent... he was amazing. The music entertainment interaction with the peeps was so much fun. Today is Saturday May 21... we r still singing & talking about our fabulous experience at #theshouthouse.
This is a fun place to be yourself, hang out with friends, and jump in on a song along. Ive been here several times and always had a good time. Staff is friendly and always checking up on the table.
Love this place, always go when were in SD. The experience is always based on the audience, so bring plenty of Friends & a list of GOOD music suggestions.Additionally, always pay extra to reserve a table. You dont worry about getting there early to beat the line & you dont have to stand for hours, before a table opens up.
This place is a must if you have guest in town or just want to have a fun night. I gave it 4 stars only based on the service. Our waitress was sweet but not super attentive, we were sitting at the tables in the front area which made for an awesome experience but be ready to maybe have to go up to the bar and get a drink quicker.
Went there with a large group of people and it was fun, but the people who work the front door and the floor acted like they were working at some ultra-exclusive nightclub in Manhattan. When they got done telling you the 500 things you couldnt do inside you actually didnt think you were going to have fun at all. Once inside the place there were guys walking around thinking they were cops telling everyone where to stand, how to behave and if you looked like you were having too much fun out the door you went. Heres some advice...you are nothing more than a doorman/ticket taker/security guard...thats all. For the $15 cover, the mediocre entertainment and the price of the drinks I wouldn’t do it again. Our entire group was really turned off by the staff other than the bartenders who were cool.
I had an amazing time here with some fun co workers for a Friday night out. The musicians were fantastic! They traded between two pairs of performers throughout the night and even threw in some electric guitar and drums at points. There was a line to get in that was scary long, but it moved super quickly. We only waited about 10 min. There was also a $10.00 cover at the door. It was definitely worth the cover for the live music.
This is a must to visit , great food amazing music by amazing musicians and all songs chosen by you , one of the best nights we had in San Diego .
Security guy said the show starts at 7 and asked if I would tip him. An hour later, waitress says that the show is at 8. Decent beer is all I received
