I was lucky enough to catch the opening week of biscuits and blues. Finally it’s back after being closed for a few years and it’s as good as ever. Sugar Ray Rayford was playing the evening I was there. Fantastic high energy performance, great band and music. The food quality appears to be very good and prices are reasonable for the Union Square area. I had the Caesar salad and the fried chicken, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed and the biscuits were absolutely fantastic. Service was efficient even though they were working out some opening kinks. I think they’ve kept the show prices as reasonable as they can. So glad to see the venue up and running. Best of luck to them for future success!
Absolutely amazing place, amazing vibe and Tina really is the best host you could ever want! Great food, reasonable prices and the music was amazing. Definitely worth making the trip if you’re ever looking for an evening out!
We visit this location on April 20 2018. We ordered chicken wings, Louisiana lemonade, and a ginger beer. Everything was good and the servers was nice. My only problem was the cost but other than that I was good. The bathrooms was clean as well. The most important thing was the music and I must say it was off the chain. I wanted to dance and wish they had a dance floor. They were really really good and we enjoyed ourselves.
Visited Biscuits & Blues on my first night in San Francisco. Awesome, little blues joint with friendly waitresses and good drinks. I was excited to see Christone Kingfish Ingram. He absolutely blew the lid off the place. Seeing such powerful music in such an intimate setting is a real treat. I unfortunately didnt try the biscuits, thats on me. Just an excuse to go back! This is a must stop experience for and blues fan. I really wish I lived closer.
I like the place, but what ever happened to make it close ( a water leak from the establishment upstairs, which was a Burger King) is still the excuse that they are closed. Always saying a date they will open and never opening...this has been going on since before Covid, do not think it will ever open again, not with the current management.
Great entertainment and customer service experience, but the food was just okay and a little expensive. My husband and I visited B&B on recommendation from our hotel concierge, and we were not disappointed! We purchased tickets for the 7:00pm show and made our reservation for 6:15pm. I was worried that would be too early, but it was actually perfect. We got our drinks, apps, and main meal served before the performance began, so we took our time eating the main course and dessert/drinks during the show. The food was okay - I got the catfish since it was labelled as a popular item, but wasnt particularly impressed. Husbands shrimp and grits were pretty good, though. And the service/wait staff was quick and efficient throughout the evening. The show, service, and atmosphere was fantastic. The band we saw - Cafe R&B - was excellent and was well-known to several parties in attendance who were excited to see them perform again. The place itself is an intimate, dimly lit room below street level with small circular tables. Youll be packed in like sardines, but it really just adds to the energy in the room during the performance. There are several large booths on the perimeter that are great for larger parties. Attendees were well-dressed but casual and clearly prepared to enjoy themselves. I loved to see that the crowd was a mix of just about everyone - retirees, young professionals, large groups, couples, friends, families, and all of various ethnicities and lifestyles. During the show, it was clear that people were getting lost in the music - swaying, dancing, laughing, and closing their eyes to just feel the music in their soul.In all, a fantastic experience that I would recommend to anyone looking for a fun evening out.
Great blue venue, I loved how the music and the atmosphere took me back on time. It felt as I was on the 1930s. The singer and the band was so engaging. The staff and the waitresses were so attentive and welcoming that makes you feel at home. The prices were reasonable and you need to make a reservation. The only thing I didnt like was that theres no parking as this venue its located in the center of the city so anticipate in advance if you are driving.
Im so glad others had rated this place so highly, because without that I never would have tried it. We loved it! Our hotel was right up the street and normally you have to go out pretty far in the city to find something this amazing. They charge a cover but its worth it because the bands were fantastic both times we went. Drinks were creative, staff was wonderful and the Southern comfort food was everything it should have been!
One of the highlights of my trip to San Francisco. We walked downstairs into a dimmed setting and sat at a small table. The menu was setup so the food could be sent out and executed quickly, which was a good thing. Everything tasted great and nice and slow cooked. The service was spot on but above and beyond was the music. Im not a big blues person, but after seeing the talented musicians I had to appreciate everything. Overall it was a great experience.
Absolutely fantastic venue for live music near Union Square. Places like this are so rare these days. Minimal cover and great food. Not a bad seat in the place. Go alone and sit at the bar for a night on the town as a single and feel comfortable. One of my favorite places in SF. The musicians are top notch. Been going here for 8 years and have always been impressed!
Great music. Terrible service. Outrageously overpriced. $96 for a table for 4, you HAVE To have a reservation to go in, even if the place is dead. On top of that, its a $20 cover charge. Not sure if the servers and bartenders just hate their job, or generally hate their lives. Table service was alright but not friendly and the bartender - very tall guy - absolutely RUDE and made terrible drinks. Food isnt worth the price so eat dinner before you go. MUSIC WAS TOP NOTCH THOUGH, at least my $116 goes to supporting fantastic bands. We dont intend on going back ever.
I had dinner here with my brother last night and this venue was absolutely spectacular. The food was delicious (we had the Fried Catfish and the Brisket), the price was pretty reasonable, and we had an awesome table for a live show downstairs. Im not a huge Blues fan, but the music was good and so was the atmosphere.
First time at this venue, and it was a very awesome experience. A Christmas gift from our son which we can now say will probably be an adventure we will be doing more of. Although we didnt have dinner at the late show, the tables around ours seemed to all be indulging in one entree or another and they all looked very pleasing, so next time that will be on our list. The young host and our waitress Kelly were wonderful and the band that night (Jan 19th) was off the hook .
Do not visit this tourist trap. $40 to get into the venue. On top of that its $25 per entree. Beers are $8 and mixed drinks start at $12. I ordered the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and my wife had the jambalaya. Both tasted and looked like they were frozen. We didnt even get ice cubes with our water! They must not run the AC to save money, it was hot in the building. The music was good but I would go someplace else.
I went here for a birthday party. Its a great venue for enjoying music for $15. But its pretty loud so dont expect having a great conversation among friends until intermission. As far as the food, its ok. I ordered the fried chicken that came with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. It was decent, but not worth the $19. My roommate ordered the fish and chips, and she was unhappy with them. The fish was definitely frozen, and it was really greasy on the plate. The only thing I enjoyed was the biscuits with honey butter.Ill probably just order appetizers and drinks if I come back.
Place was great. Treated like royalty. Course with long hair they thought we were with the band. Service was great. Food great. People great. Intimate setting with a couple hundred friends you havent met yet.
Undoubtedly my most incredible musical experience. Perhaps luck has bestowed me with great musicians on that particular night, but I believe that the reputation of the place is attractive to artists of such stature.Recommended to music lovers of all genres.
Atmosphere was great, food was okay, not the best cajun we have had...... Although the biscuits were awesome! The band for the night was so so. What was not okay was our server. He only had two other tables and got my order completely wrong. Plus he hardly made eye contact with us, never smiled, and was not to be found for quite some time when we had to ask the other server for water twice!
Great music, good food. Nice Blues atmosphere. Parking can be an issue but thats always true in the city. There is however a garage with the availability about a block away, and I think its $20 if youre going to the show at Biscuits and Blues. You may have to show them your ticket stub.
A venue which really focuses on the music. All seats face the musicians, and the food is pretty good too. Menu specialises in Southern comfort food, so get your fix here when you have a craving for biscuits and jambalaya. Musicians vary each night and you can count on them to bring in quality acts every time.
This was our first time here and we were blown away. The blues band was great! The volume was just right. Infact it felt like a personal concert! We had the biscuits (which come with a delicious honey butter), catfish nuggets, meatballs and the Mac and cheese. It was all very delicious and pleased my palates. Our server , Kelly always had a smile on her face and we never had an empty water or drinks glass. Thank you!
Intimate small venue with great sound, never felt too loud. Southern style food that was quite good and reasonable by SF standards. We parked at nearby union square garage for 6 bucks.
Love this place for Blues music. Located in the heart of the San Francisco City, biscuits and Blues is a great place to explore and enjoy Blues music. They support all kinds of blues music bands and have since every generated some of the great musicians. They get some of the very popular artists as well. Great food and drinks. Dont forget to try their biscuits!!
The band was great! Its a little hard to order and eat food during the show (plus its super pricey), so Id recommend eating elsewhere. But definitely come here for the music.
This place is for suckers. I just paid $45 to watch some privileged high school kid find himself on stage. The lead singer is muddy, formulaic, and controlling. Before he drags the audience through his stylistic whims, he needs to master one style so it succeeds in the goal of entertainment. Tempo comes from the drummer else you get what I saw tonight. A drummer tripping over himself to follow the irregular and unintentional push-pull of a self preoccupied lead. The house itself is a scam. The drinks are watery and 2x priced. The food is cooked from frozen and undersized. 3-mac and cheese sticks are $12. The dish is over half flour and they still didnt give decent portions. It couldnt have been more than 30 cents in food.
Fabulous staff!!! Malaya (spelling?) Jay and Shamus were all friendly, professional and engaging...This club will always be my favorite! Some changes to the menu were disappointing, but the staff more than makes up for the lost shrimp/corn fritters!! Entertainment was awesome as always...Thanks so much Biscuits and Blues for hosting the very best in customer service...
Outstanding music hosted by veteran blues guitarist, Chris Cain. He rips at amazing pace and depth and makes his instrument sing. Michael Osborn was the guest the night we attended and the synergy and camaraderie was infectious. Good southern soul food tops off a great night. Highly recommend the ribs and fried green tomatoes!!
We were on holiday from Australia and went to our first ever Blues club. Absolutely loved it. We had a fantastic meal and loved listening to the amazing Alvon band. Wow!!!! So wish we lived closer, we would definitely be regulars, loved it :-)
I loved loved LOVED biscuits & blues. The location was easy to get to and wasnt in a terrible location of the tenderloin. The artist was very entertaining and I didnt mind the cover. The staff was by far the deciding factor for me. I requested a drink not on the menu, and with it being so loud I appreciated that he had me write down my negroni and gin preference. You know what, it was a great negroni too! I liked the food, I mean dont get mad if you dislike the Mac n cheese egg rolls, it is exactly as you ordered.
The entertainment was great. The food was great - I had the hot wings and they were delicious. Plenty of room and not crowded like most live music restaurants. Friendly service.
Good food, fast service and a cozy venue for live music. I wouldnt say the band we saw was blues necessarily, but being in such intimate surroundings, it was hard not to be engrossed. (Waitstaff drama [I was just kicked out of the kitchen!] was a plus for us.)
This was a first for me. Ive wanted to go in the past but did not have the time. I like the space, not to big or small. Doesnt matter where you sit as long as your there to enjoy the musicians and not have long conversations and interrupt others folks listening pleasure. I pay to go listen to the featured band :D
Swanky, but not too posh nor snobby.Yummy food, NOLA-themed.Clientele tends to be conservative and well-dressed, yet lively and fun.The quality of live music is very professional, and yet, downhome. Its an international Blues venue, with acts ranging from national treasures to the highly-celebrated regional talent.A must go for travelers, a cherished outlet for locals, and a mark of prestige for local musicians. Its where youll find the best Blues acts as they come through town.
Old 70-80s vibe, which is OK... not OK was the poor sound form the PA. The band playing was quite good, but drums were not micd up, and the sound system is poor quality. When a place exists simply to play music, it should invest in at least a good sound system, if not a great one. Disappointing.
One of the best blues joints yet. I looked this place up before leaving NZ on our holiday. The place was 5 mins walk from our hotel on Bush Street. Great table service. Even got a photo with the singer. Excellent place to buy momentos as well
Great blues music, the food is expensive, we ordered fried asparagus for $13 Got 5 pieces . Theres a dinner show and a late night show, pick the Late Night show. It gets very hot in there doesnt seem like they want to turn on the air conditioner.
Saw sugaray rayford here, they were awesome. They venue is small but I dont think thats a bad thing every seat is the best seat in the house. The food is ok and the drinks are very good.
Standing outside with really cold weather wasnt expected, so check those temps b4 going... The food was good (fish nuggets & spicey shrimp), perhaps suggesting lite ice with a drink and Cafe R&B was Awesome!! My Goodness!!😘Loved Everything about them...
Average experience. We went to a Steve Ray Vaughan coverband that was really good, the food and drinks were pricy and nothing special. I had bbq ribs that were burnt to coal. The atmosphere is really nice and you always have a nice view at the musicians.
Biscuits & Blues continues to bring great live music performances to downtown SF, and you have to love that. The beer selection could be better, and the food is fine, better than expected frankly despite the name of the place, but I have to give this place five stars for providing a venue for blues performers seven nights a week.
Disappointing night, the band only playing for 50% on the time. The place advertised 2 sessions 7:30 and 10:00. Admittedly, we arrived late and the first session finished at 8:45. The band took a break until 10. Maybe my expectations were a little high thinking a Blues bar would have music playing the majority of the time. The food was OK but expensive.
The music was outstanding, the staff friendly, yet the food could use a little more soul-food crush to it. Was there 2 months. Would visit again and recommend.
Went twice over the past month. Greatly enjoyed the music and while the food was very good, I found it somewhat overpriced for what is offered, especially considering that you pay a cover charge to get into the place. I would go back but would find a place to eat before going.
Saw Sugaray Rayford. Incredible show with great energy. This is a sweet blues club. If you desire to support the Blues come to this icon at least 2-3 Xs per year. Food is wonderful. Chicken to die for. Gumbo like yo mama made it (if yo mama made it). And of course, biscuits like youve never tasted! Great music, great food, great venue!
My review is more for the music, but its a great venue and they serve some good biscuits and drinks as well. You cant really go wrong with spending an evening at this place.
The music with a full bar is good. the beers are very reasonable for a live music venue. its in the union sq. area and is world renowned for the blues. they keep changing the food area-upstairs/downstairs.
Cant get closer to cool cats than at Biscuits & Blues. The club is small, dark and intimate; you can really enjoy the show from any table/booth. Food is good ole southern down-home: fried chicken is crispy outside but moist inside, the brisket and greens are spicy and tasty, cole slaw is not over-mayod, and the biscuits are crunchy-tender and arrive with a butter and honey spread. Prices are quite reasonable but there is a $25 corkage fee. If you dont eat, there is a two drink minimum. Two shows/seatings a night. Subscribe to their monthly email schedule of performances to make sure you dont miss you favorite performer - you will see some surprisingly well known names.
The wife and I went to see Sugar Ray Rayford which was a wonderful show but the items we ordered to eat they were sold out of... the Southern Chicken and shrimp corn fritters, the choices left was very salty (catfish nuggets)... but the show and the service were amazing we had a wonderful time other than that and it was my wifes birthday and the young lady brought her a small dessert which was very nice...
Great venue. Intimate for a restaurant fun club. No bad seats. Tasty food though a bit expensive. Ive already made repeat reservations.
We have been going to Biscuits & Blues from time to time in last 5 years. It is always a wonderful experience. The music and the food have never been disappointing. I recommend this place to anyone who likes listening to Blues and Jazz music.
Good music, Good atmosphere, Good food! A little pricey but the food was good... Would have given this place 5 stars but our server had an attitude. .
A small club in a basement. Atmosphere is just what youd imagine in a small blues club. It was not an acoustic show last night, but a fun blues experience and great food. I had the Jambalaya, just in time for Mardi Gras!
Great venue for music. Southern/Cajun food very tasty. Service can be a hit or miss but not bad. Absolutely recommend it.
Nice place for live music and pretty good dinner food. Its not a large venue so you are close to the band no matter where you sit. There is usually 2 shows one at 7pm and a second show at 9:30pm.The first show is usually full depending on the Band.Public transportation is best parking is a real hassel. You are in the heart of the City.
We managed to sneak in and grab the last open table. It was a great little venue and a fun show. Ill be back (in my best Arnold voice).
Love it as a unique music venue. So much fun! Missed a star because it can be really pricey for tix+dinner+drinks.
The music was GREAT! The service sucks! The food was just alright and it took too long to come from the kitchen to your table!!! (1 1/2 hrs.)
Love the music venue with some really fabulous musicians. Food could be much better but after a few drinks and dancing, who cares?
This weekend in S.F., my husband and I took a mini-vacation. I wanted to go to Biscuits and Blues. As we got to the door, a woman came over to us and asked if we wanted to buy tickets. She told us they were $20.00 a piece. She would not tell us who was playing. My husband was pulling money out of his pocket, and I told him, we are not paying $40.00 for tickets when we dont even know who was playing. This long dark haired woman then started calling me the B word and a number of other names. We turned to walk away, and here she comes down the street after us, yelling and screaming. We will certainly think twice before ever going back to Biscuits and Blues. No thanks, we were trying to have a nice get away weekend.
Everytime we go to San Francisco we go to the club. Encountered always good quality artists. Food fabulous. Staff efficient and always friendly. Cant wait to go back.
Have been to this iconic and intimate Blues venue many, many times. Always a pleasure to see some of the best musicians around (local and worldwide) performing here.
We were visiting from Alberta Canada on our first visit to San Francisco and Biscuits and Blues did not dissapoint. My first time at a Blues Club, great atmosphere and awesome music by Alvon.
Many years of going to this venue. It remains a hidden gem! From local bands to some heavy hitters. It is always entertaining experience. The best!!
GREAT INTIMATE NIGHTCLUB IN SAN FRANCISCO, I SAW BOBBY RUSH WITH MY MOTHER & WE HAD A FABULOUS TIME. THE FOOD WAS GREAT, OFF STREET PARKING IS VERY DIFFICULT, BUT THERE ARE PARKING GARAGES NEARBY.
Very cool supper club venue, they serve with early show. Great variety of musicians and food is good too!
Cool venue. Was expecting great biscuits since its literally in the name. They were terrible. The bread pudding redeemed them. Should change the name to Bread pudding and Blues ☺
Good food. Nice to relax, eat and watch the show. The AC is a little under powered. But over all the place is wonderful.
On Holiday from Scotland and Ireland and had a great night at the club with Jimmy Johnson and the Chris King big band. The food was good the service was good and the music great.
This place is awesome. Great food, better music, cant go wrong. One of my favorite places in the city
Great music, great service and good food. If a performer you like is on the bill dont miss it.
This place is fabulous. Hot biscuits and cool blues. Great acts and sweet music.
Its a comfortable smaller venue for outstanding dinner shows. Weve seen some great musicians here.
Food was actually quite good. Definitely a bar type atmosphere but we got out before the blues band started.
If you are looking for Blues, surely this is the place to go. I recommend taking a date or a family member from out of town here. Chicago is a long ways away, so this will do. I remember having a great time here, but keep in mind the area, its right at the cusp of some unintended TL crackiness! ( Yes Crack-iness I said it ).
Nice atmosphere for blues. There are some really good performers. Make sure to make a reservation before you go, as its usually packed.
Fantastic Lucky Peterson. Great venue. Friendly staff. My food was good, the spinach salad was not so hot.
Great live music, chill environment, amd i had a great first time experience there!! I will definitely be coming back!
One of the better places we visited in San Francisco. Excellent table service. Terrific artists each night when we visited in Sept 2017
Great music venue for live blues! My food was not very exciting but maybe i got something i should not have picked......the meatloaf was served not warm at all
A nice atmosphere and reasonably good food but was hurried along so the staff could reset before the next performance.
Absolutley the best food service, food and music venue wrapped all in one. Great drinks too!
Saw Steve Willis and the Willing. Very entertaining! We ordered chicken and asparagus and loved the food.
I really enjoy coming and hearing the bands that play here! Sooo much fun! The food is GREAT!
I was disappointed to be told that the show was almost over when I arrived at 10pm. Had to find another place to go from there. Maybe they were saving me money but I thought the show would go on a bit later.
Great talent! The food is par to New Orleans... We LOVE this place and plan to return very soon!
I saw Alan Iglesias rock the house when a buddy from out of town came to visit… It was a fantastic show!
Great music and friendly personnel. Even the food was OK for a live stage performance.
Great place to eat and listen to some live blues! Food was excellent! Will definitely come back
It was of course the hottest day and night. Was getting a little warm. They had air conditioning but there was a lot of people.
Place where you eat, listen to music, sing with the singers of the bands, have fun! Friendly and helpful staff. Very beautiful!
It reminds me of the Baked Potato in Los Angeles - dinner and a show. We saw Commander Cody, and it was great to be in such an intimate venue with talented musicians.
I liked it, greatmusic and food, the only thing is that its very expensive, i prefer to order nachos and enjoy the music.
I I had a blast this a good time for my 60th birthday I am I enjoy The Ballot or the full outdaughtered waitress and service and everything everything was just fabulous thank you
This an amazing venue. Clean, cozy and the service is top notch. And the food was excellent !
Great food and music. I was on my own but still enjoyed myself. Merchandise is expensive though.
Love this place. Booth and table seats. A little strange at first because its downstairs, but go with it...youll enjoy.
That rare combination of great music great food great service, kelly our waitress was superb, will definitely be back !
Great Blues and food to die for. And we saw ELVIN BISHOP with his band, which included my friend WILLIE! It was my birthday gift.
Great music and lineups but check your bill closely ... they change ticket prices on a whim and the owners speak LITTLE English (blues club with Asian owners and employees?)
Great food and phenomenal music. However service is slow for packed nights as expected.
Live music was Great. Food and beverage was good also.Waitress was awesome
I have been waiting 20 minutes for someone to take my drink and food order. Is it because I am dining alone? whatever the reason is, it is a very poor service. Disappointed from London, UK.
THis is a really hip spot with great music. Great place to come with a group of friends. The shrimp appetizers are really great!
Great food, cozy venue. Legendary artists.Always a great show.
Absolutely friggn awesome! Food was phenomenal, atmosphere perfect, and the band was rockin!
Место известное, часто очереди чтобы попасть во внутрь. Пошел на Луизианский Блюз и такую же кухню. Блюда острые, Блюз отличный!(Translated by Google)The place is famous, there are often queues to get inside. I went to Louisiana Blues and the same cuisine. The dishes are spicy, the Blues are great!
Great place to eat and see a live show very cozy and personal with performers
Great place to see live music, the music was amazing, the place is good and the people who work there are nice
Nothing quite like listening to the blues while eating a basket of biscuits and drinking bourbon. The service was good, the sound was great, and the food tasty.
Great atmosphere, nice food, good music and worth a visit when in San Fran!
If you have a chance to go, do it. The food the music, its all fantastic.
So awesome that there is a true blues club. Food is just fine. music is always great.
Great music and food, it was a great place to celebrate New Years Eve.
Famous Live blues bands play here! Good old restaurant with good food and music.
Not only the music, but the food was amazing. Six of us went and all agreed 100%.
One of my favorite venues around love to see Shane Dwight here
Excellent venue. Perfect amount of seating to feal part of the show
Live Blues and Jazz every night. A bit pricey both in terms of food and the entry fee (usually $20) but the fee is worth it.
Good show, but the woman at the reception is something else! Makes you want to avoid the place.
Fun venue to hear live music. Very intimate atmosphere.
Very friendly and professional staff. Quick service. Great acoustics.
One of my favorite places in the city, good music, good food, good vibes
Food not so great, but great live music
Visited on a Fat Tuesday night, fantastic music, great food and vibe. cant wait to go back
Great place for good music, good liquor, good people. Just perfect.
Awesome music. Great views of the stage from every seat in the place.
Good music good atmosphere, but not the best neighborhood.
Been here a couple times. Great service, cozy atmosphere, and intimate setting.
Old school Southern food.Great music.A true delight
What an experience. In town, you should by all means swing by here. Well worth it!
A place that really fosters creativity and expression. One of the best clubs in the bay!
The premium blues club, small intimate, great southern food, great staff and great music
They have good bands there, but its pretty expensive, and its very loud.
Fave venue. Great food, great service, fantastic music
Great food. Great music. Intimate atmosphere.
A must visit in the city. Good tunes, great but pricey cocktails.
Good food excellent service from Rachel love the music
Love the music, the drinks and the biscuits! Check out Groupon for discounts.
Mr. Sipp was an awesome act, but the food is not as good as it used to be.
Very small cramped space mediocre food very expensive but the entertainment especially Earl Thomas is worth it
