Good vibes. Great bartenders. The patio space is very large, and there is always something fun happening here.
I love going to the Eagle SF for a party called Young Hearts which always happens once a month on a Saturday night. In my opinion, one of the best parties in the city. If you’re not from SF, I highly recommend you check what’s going on at the Eagle before going because there are many different parties, some of which might not be your thing. On some nights, the bar can also be empty! It’s a leather bar, but wear whatever you want!
This was a nice bar with plenty of space. They put on a good show. The bathrooms were great although a little splashed. I loved the open outdoor section. I went on a Sunday so things died down pretty early around 8 pm but all things considered I thought it was good. The main thing that I wasn’t expecting was that it’s male oriented but that was my bad since I didn’t really know the vibe before going. The drag show was fantastic and the staff were kind and helpful !
The SF Eagle doesn’t have a little, it has a LOT of something for EVERYONE! Whether it’s hanging with the leather community, meeting a new pup , dancing to disco on a Sunday after its famous beer bust of course, karaoke Wednesdays, the make out party, so many events happen at the SF eagle that their truly is something for everyone. Everyone is welcome and everyone is respectful. Make sure you are too! Love this place, they treat you like family! Pictures taken by myself.
I got a vodka soda and they charged my card 4 times totaling 105$... make sure to pay cash if you go
Walked in at 8pm on Thursday.... There was one (1!) Customer at the bar...Needless to say I didnt stay, turned around and went shopping at Costco.I think gay apps have destroyed society. If you want to try a niche market for a night, sponsor a PHONE FREE SPEED DATING or something more organic. It will bring a crowd.
This was a really disappointing experience. I had never been to SFO before and had a pretty short layover. I decided seeing this eagle would be a great way to spend it.First off, theres a cover. The only eagle in this world that has a cover. London didnt even have one. I can understand having one if theres entertainment or a show but there wasnt. I arrived just past midnight. I had to hit the ATM for a $20 to pay it.Once I went up to the bar and ordered my drinks, I was informed they were cash only instead of just telling me at the door or even having a notice posted of it. I had to hit the ATM again.I went to the patio, and there were a wide variety of people. It was an interesting crowd but felt too many stares that caught me off guard, I dont think they were admiring. Not much leather being worn that evening.Come 1:25 I went to take a leak, when I tried to go back out to talk to some guys I met I was refused entry back to the patio by security because it was closing. Which was probably the most infuriating thing of the evening. They were kicking everyone inside.Im glad I paid a $10 cover for no show or entertainment, overpriced drinks, Fireball that didnt quite taste like Fireball, and to be kept from enjoying the whole bar. What a bummer.
I like this bar. This particular night, there was a $10.00 cover. So we decided to go somewhere else.
Like other people have said, the bartenders are rude and have attitude. I walked up to the bar when it was relatively empty inside and the bartender just stared at me, no acknowledgement. I asked for an Eagle lemonade and he very curtly said “a WHAT.” So I explained that I saw it on their menu behind him. He made no acknowledgment of this, went to check their lemonade tap, and mumbled “I guess.”Overall ruined my mood. In my opinion, it would be better to take your money elsewhere, there’s so many good bars in SF with nicer staff.
Kind of stumbled here while searching out the queer scene tbh. Not a lot of variety… mostly cis gay men. Which is fine. But just not diverse. The staff seemed a bit cold/standoffish as well.Kind of just.. hung around the bartender standing directly in front of me doing nothing yet seemingly ignoring me standing there. Odd.
I always love this place! The bartenders are great!! The atmosphere is very enjoyable and fun!! There is a dance floor next to the DJ booth and a large outdoor patio. One bar inside, one outside, and another that serves both outside and inside customers. The atm machine is also inside.
I went to the jock strap night at the Eagle on a Friday. Which was a bit of a train wreck, stayed for about an hour.I arrived around 11pm, there werent many people inside. The layout is pretty epic, with a big outside area which was more than double the size of the inside.I had worn my jockstrap and showed the door guy to get my discounted $5 entry (instead of $8). Inside very few people were actually wearing jocks, maybe like 3 out of about 30. A curious thing was that a majority of the patrons clustered outside in little groups underneath the outside heaters. So it was hard to find people to talk with. All the staff were quite good, the barman offered to top up my soft drink if I needed it later. So it was just the patrons that I didnt really warm up to. The majority of guys were bears and cubs, some hot cubs. Also there were a few women, which I didnt expect to see. There was a group of 3 early thirties white guys all wearing checked shirts, which I named the lumberjack group, seriously guys try not to be clones of each other. They got to talking to a handsome hot hipster type couple one of which was wearing a jock strap underneath white leggings and had a massive bulge.Because it was cold (late February) I stayed in the bar area and I could notice during the course of drinking my (large size) diet coke several people leaving the Eagle. When the hipster couple left I knew it was time to pack it in too because if they were bailing then it probably meant it was going to be boring. Also there werent many handsome guys there and I wasnt getting any interest from anyone. So SF Eagle, great venue, friendly staff, not enough and not my type of patrons sadly. 6/10.
This bar is a bit of a throwback to earlier times in SF, but with a few updates and a decent beer selection, all of which help make it a real gem. They always seem to play great rock or indie music, always at the right volume for me, and the outside patio has to be the best in the city (note: outside on the patio smoking is allowed, including cigars, but theres plenty of space that its unlikely to bother you as it might at some smaller Castro area bar patios). The bartenders have always been really friendly and happy to talk which makes me even happier to support this place.(It is a little bit leathery, with some Tom of Finland art around the place, so be forewarned, but its a very welcoming space.)
My personal favorite smoking patio. Forget that Z bar. Easy going old school leather/bear/daddy hangout, this iconic bar has featured live music and a mixed crowd for most of its existence. Now refurbished and jazzed up, its a great spot for a quiet drink if you show up early.
I love attending events here! The staff are all really cordial, the courtyard is HUGE and well-decorated, the drinks are strong, and they always have something fun going on.I only knocked off a star because they have ONE bathroom with ONE toilet, which becomes problematic during a show or on a crowded night. I have had to go take care of business al fresco because the line to he commode was insanely long. Not cute.
A event that I have gone to for years in San Francisco moved recently to the SF eagle. If you are there on a good night, the bartenders and the patrons are solid. More than a few times we get a aggressive bar back thats trying to dictate how the bar is operated, which ruins the vibe a little bit. I do not advise parking within the block or two of the eagle, Ive been broken into twice. Its not the best area. The street outside is currently going underneath intense construction, as soon as thats done, Im sure the area will be even better. they do not like doing tabs or taking card during large events, be prepared to have cash on hand. They do have an ATM, but you know they all have horrible fees. If you are there not during a event, they probably will be able to take your card no problem. something I wish they would change, cuz I would buy a lot more drinks if I didnt have to have cash on hand. Enjoy yourself, have fun, be silly.
Went to the eagle tonight for the first time in 20 years and might I say this place was banging this is how you want a business for those of you who dont know its not the old leather scene its more of a youthful meta leather seen people from all different backgrounds different cultural identities having a good time the atmosphere was brilliant the staff are friendly and inviting the drinks are good the music was hot and again the variety of people blew my mind there was something for everyone and then some I got to make more trips there great place to hang out
The Eagle is one of the highlight Gay bars/clubs in San Francisco. The staff are great and the drinks are poured nice and heavy. They have a variety of parties every weekend to meet the needs of most any crowd. The outdoor patio is really awesome on a warm moonlit night. This is the one bar everyone must visit in San Francisco.
$20 dollar cover on a Saturday for nothing special going on. There’s other bay bars in the area that are just as fun if not more fun and don’t have as expensive a cover.
My friends and I like this place. Its get packed weekend nights, fri sat sun but is fun. Great priced, beers cold. Bartenders are nice. Sunday afternoons and evenings are the best. They have themed nights. Great patio area. They have a big bbq pit.
This place is chill as hell, the happy hour is AMAZING as in lots and lots of options, and they have TouchTunes juxebox so yeah SOLD, take my money!!!! Also, the bartender with dyed hair and alternative style was nice and on it, despite him probably hating our music choices haha! There are no windows so its dark as hell but I mean...kinda like it! They have loads of seating and spots for your drinks on pillars even when standing. Good spot, in fact dont come here I wanna keep it for myself! Hollywood gem!
Its a gay dive bar, so keep your expectations low and be pleasantly surprised when you come. Other patrons can be a bit uncontrolled, but the venue itself is quite nice, love the courtyard
To begin this place says they open at 12 but I went once and they dont...it was closed and a person that was standing outside that frequented the place said they actually open at 6 idk if that has changed...If so, this yelp time is wrong. Second, prepare to be standing the entire time. This place is super tiny and super crowded its hard to even move in there. The food is pretty amazing and there is no cover charge to go in. The micheladas are bomb. They seem pricey at $12 but theyre huge and come with a couple pieces of shrimp, cucumber, celery and a tamarindo stick which you can use as your straw. Delicious. They only have valet parking, which is complimentary but still tip the poor guys...theyre running around like crazy! I gave it three stars because they dont have enough sitting room and their parking sucks if you dont valet...they do have awesome food and drinks though.
Easy going, no attitude or frills. If youre musically inclined (and dont want to listen to bad top 40/hiphop), this Eagle has a really great selection of DJs playing!Loved the inside area, the outside covered dance patio, and the open outdoor space. Also loved the number of men that come in full gear! Im from NYC and I think my experience here won out! Great job! 💪👮🏻♂️
The Eagle is one of the oldest leather bars in SF! The Sunday beerbust is fabulous especially on sunny days when you can be on the patio but theres plenty of space inside, its dog friendly afternoons but also has a really good mixed program at night
Gorgeous huge patio that soaks up the sunlight during summer months, but even in January, the heat lamps and the giant barbecue beneath the stage keeps things toasty.Three different bars keep everyone well-lubricated and the crowd is a mix of daddies, leather folks, and assorted neighborinos, with everyone tending towards older and whiter.Limited beer selection.
Definitely not what I expected, but it could’ve been the night. NYC - Eagle is usually popping on a Thursday night and I thought the same would apply. This was nowhere near it [and other Eagles (nationwide) I’ve had the pleasure of visiting]. Hopefully, I’ll be able to return and experience its true potential. I know you could do better. 🤔
Great bar! So many fun events. Back patio area is the hidden secret 🌿
I had a great time at The Eagle yesterday 6/25/22 for Pride weekend I bought a great plate of food for $5.00 the people all got along .Happy Pride Month folks !!!!!
Great bar, excellent back porch. Prices for drinks were reasonable would like to have seen larger cups for liquor instead of the smaller glasses. At least larger for doubles.
I’ve been to many eagles and this has been my favorite so far. It was little’s night and I got to meet some of my pup friends too. Friendly, welcoming vibe, great outdoor area. There is a coat check.
Great bar and atmosphere. The back porch is awesome. The drinks are good and the music fantastic. Cash only bar so make sure you have money.
Great music, good friends and a all-walks-of-life type of male crowd. Make friends and reinvent yourself! The only place to see and be seen........usually like what I see.If you dont look good, we dont look good.
A Welcoming Piece of Leather Heaven! The Beer Bust(s) on Sundays Are A Real Party! The Patio Can Often Be A Lot of Fun!Great Bartenders, Great Drinks, Great Clientele!!
I like going to this place because everyone is welcomed. However Im still getting used to the presence of security... this is literally the first Eagle Ive been too which had outside security. It weirds me out sometimes, which is kinda an oxymoron the more I think about😅
This place is like my church. I come here almost every Sunday. They have become family, and the drinks are at a good price. Love you,SF Eagle staff!
No credit card facilities, understandable on busy nights but not every night is busy.. ATM charges 3bucks to give you cash, so about average, but then your own bank may charge too of course.
Trust, men only, youll enjoy yourself so much, youll be drained by the end of the night..
My first time in SF and my Birthday, Steve ( the bartender ) made me feel so welcome. love the bar. When i come back to SF this is the first bar Im coming to!!
I am so sorry I gave this poorly managed bar a good rating. Apparently there is a horrible woman that is somehow a manager. The only way such a woman can be in such a position is to be related to in some way. Nepotism truly sucks.
If what you want is to be in a great outdoor patio look into super hot guys having fun people watching then this is a place you must go at least once before you leave San Francisco.
Always a great place to hang out and have a beer!
The good thing is that despite it is gay themed, it is fine to be at if you know the right dates to attend the events being held there regularly.
Seem like they have lost control of their audience... bad website; parties have become bland and boring.. no differences then most other places.
Thursday nights are the best. If you recognize any of the bands playing you should definitely go.
Everybody should love this place! Good and friendly people! This place is big enough to hide from your ex lol
This place used to be a lot more fun but these days it just feels like a sea of bad life choices.Update: BEST RESPONSE EVER
Like it’s very busy here Really fun if you like standing around in a crowd of gay men drinking beer
Nice place however people running the place have attitude issues. It ruins the fun!
This place is a perfect venue. It has an indoor / outdoor patio, pool table, 3 bars, theme nights, ect!
One of citys best long-running gay bars with festive patio, good music and lively crowd.
Not a great beer selectionAbout 12 on tap and several bottles but mostly IPANeeds to be updated, but I guess most of their crowd just drinks Bud Light anyways
Always fun n trashy. Great MENS bar. Bears, leather n kinky guys. Never a dull time
I was here for a party. A lot of great energy, but the line at the bar was insane. Great music, though. Nice people.
Big spacious bar with a even bigger outdoor space filled with hot guys especially on a Sunday afternoon!
This bar is located in the Folsom District kind of raunchy nice bartenders very strong cocktails.
Had a great time there last June when we did ALC and stayed in a hotel not far from there. Plan to go there again in June.
Awesome bar. Great atmosphere. Definitely recommend and lovely ppl.

Sunday beer bust is about all its worth bothering with. Thats still a nice time on the patio.
Love this bar. The staff is awesome and the patio is my home away from home
Depends on the day or night but always a fun, sexy (and sometimes a little messy) crowd.
Live bands every Thursday. Im your sound guy. Come check it out, have a drink, get Krazy!
Always a damn good time. There is always a good mixed crowd and great times to be shared with plenty.
Nice atmosphere with outdoor patio, friendly staff, reasonable prices.
Such much for a gay bar.....

An ideal cultural/leather mtg & drinks hangout not only for the US, but globally as well.

A must-see place in San Francisco nightlife. If it is your first time, go with an open mind and with the idea that you will see things that you dont see in other places, especially if you visit from other countries. It has a DJ on the terrace and pop music inside. They do a sado show from time to time. The day I went I got a $15 cover although I dont know if thats always the case.
I visited The SF Eagle last September. I will return this weekend: I highly recommend it. You have fun, you listen to great music and all the people are friendly and receptive. Excellent place!
Good restaurant to eat and enjoy the atmosphere and family. Good service
Great music, great friends and a lifestyle male crowd. Make friends and relax!
Nice place I love it
