Stayed in the Northstar Village and it was amazing! Decided to go to the Ritz Spa for a treat after days of skiing. Upon check in we were greeted with such an amazing host. The massage itself was probably one of the best I have ever had! It went downhill when we went to leave. We rode the Gondola up to the spa but when it came time to leave the Gondola shut down 5 hours early due to snow. We called the hotel shuttle to get a ride back down and when we went to the main door the concierge was so rude and told us they had no idea where the shuttle would be. We then went inside and the manager of the Ritz Carlton was so rude and not helpful at all. He then gave us a card for limo service. I was so shocked at the lack of customer service at such a highly rated luxury hotel. We began to walk to the village when the nicest man stopped and offered to help. Come to find out he was the front manager of the Ritz and his name was Frank Frank. He made sure we made it back to the village safe and sound and was just so sweet. I do not like to leave reviews like this but I felt it was necessary. What happened to customer service?
We had the best and most relaxing time at the spa! Relaxing by the pool, sipping champagne, in the most idyllic Tahoe summer day. Anne was a wonderful help, bending over backwards to get us the appointments we needed, and helping my lady in her lounge. Mario, in the mens lounge, was so helpful and attentive. Elaine gave an amazing massage that was so relaxing and felt for days, and John was pleasant and thorough on keeping the place in top shape.
Positives: great massage, beautiful facility. Negatives: Arrived early to use the fitness center, which is described as part of the spa on the website, and was rather abruptly told that it was only for hotel guests because of covid. The manager did step in and allowed me to use it. However, given that the only reason I chose what is the most expensive massage in the Tahoe area was to use the wide range of facilities, and that we are beyond covid closures, I think its unreasonable to not allow spa guest to use the fitness center (which is large and thus there were no space constraints).
Beautiful and luxurious spa!! Loved my facial and massage, especially in late pregnancy! The pre natal massage came with the belly support so I could lie on my stomach and Jennifer gave me a heavenly massage (and really worked on my knots!!! YES!). Lisa did my facial and my face has been glowing every since and it’s already been 2 weeks!Yes it’s a VERY expensive spa, but we’ll worth the money for the service you get. One thing I really wanted to mention was that the front office staff, especially Diana and Melissa, were just ANGELS for helping me watch and play with my 2 year old toddler while I went to check in. My mom was coming out from her spa session to switch off with me but our overlap was about 15 min! So those lovely ladies went above and beyond to make sure that I enjoyed my time at the spa but also made sure my daughter was safe and happy. Cannot recommend them enough!
Two of the best massages Ive ever had in my entire life have been at this spa.One was a couples massage with the male masseuse with the dark hair — I forget his name. The other was a 120 minute massage with Jennifer “Jenny.”It was amazing because she was so patient and thorough with the knots in my neck and back. Often times massages can feel like they really made a difference, or like they were really relaxing, this massage was both. Jenny seemed to have really great intuition about pressure etc. and used a really ideal combination of styles/techniques. Her years of experiencing are reflected in her obvious knowledge of the muscular, endocrine, and other bodily systems.I also really liked the oil that they used, it was very light and not greasy at all.So while the facilities aren’t the biggest or grandest in the world, I will continue to come to the Ritz for massages when in Tahoe over Squaw or any of the casinos in South Lake, Reno, or Carson.
I live in the neighborhood and will often send a friend or family member for a spa experience. The staff has always been very attentive and accommodating.
If you want to park at the hotel, go ski for the day and come back for a massage/spa - you’re going to have to pay $500. That’s right: Five hundred dollars. And that’s on top of the spa services. $500 just for the parking.Seems like something they should have mentioned over the phone.
