Amazing happy hour, good drinks, and great bartenders. A little quiet early but bartenders and patriots are nice. Planned to have one drink but had 4! Go for happy hour and make friends!
They scan your ID (privacy policy?). They don’t take cash. They can’t provide receipts. There are many better bars than this.
It says here they have food. Theres even a menu listed. But after ubering there, were told theres no food. If you dont have food, thats fine, but dont list it on Google as if theres food. It showed up when searching for restaurants. We left without going inside.
Belinda has been amazing every time we come. She is so welcoming while also ensuring that we meet the requirements to enter. I enjoy seeing her every time my friends and I come!
A friend and I were in DC for one night and randomly walked in; Jimmy made us some good cocktails and gave us a gin tasting! We sat and chatted with him and some regulars for a while; it was a great experience on a quiet Sunday night 🙂
I felt discriminated at this place. I was hanging out and consuming here for aproximately 2 hours. I ask for an Uber and it was raining outside. I went out and since it was raining, I wanted to get back in. The woman at the entrance wouldnt let me in even though I had my ID and she was letting in other white people. I am a latina and I felt discriminated. I encourage people to not support this place. That woman (who didnt gave me her name bc I wanted to make a complaint about this)was rude and even violent with me. This kind of place should be shut downa nd I think the management should care about this kind of behavior from their employees. Ill never come back again.
Great drinks, great vibes, and absolutely incredible customer service. As it sometimes happens, my friend had a few too many doubles, but the manager and security guard helped everyone return home safely. They helped me get my friend down two flights of stairs, advised me with timing the booking of the Uber, and even assisted us in finding the correct car on a crowded street. The folks here genuinely cared about my friend’s safety, health, and did everything to help the night go as smoothly as possible. Seriously such great people! I will be coming here again, but advising everyone to take it slower next time! 😅 The staff here made everyone feel extremely cared for, in addition to the excellent music and really lovely clientele. Definitely felt like a less judgmental and more positive atmosphere than some other gb locations in DC. Thanks to everyone who lended a hand tonight! Y’all are the backbone of society lol.Side note: because the manager asked for the link to the emesis bags I brought with me, here’s an essential for anyone who has the occasional messy night out, or any establishment that serves alcohol: https://a.co/d/em8bTmb
I have been coming to Dirty Goose for a few years now. As a queer black woman, The Goose has been a safe haven for me. I feel super comfortable being in in this establishment. From the security to bartenders, I always feel so welcomed. For example, Dashon (sp) is always smiling and making sure I’m good. You can’t find that anywhere else in DC. Love him and love The Dirty Goose!!
Am visiting DC and wanted to check out LGBTQ friendly spots and after having a HORRID experience at a sports bar whose name rhymes with “bellies” across the street (feel free to check out my review for them cuz it’s LOVELY) I decided to come here. They don’t serve food but the bartender Jimmy was AMAZING!!!! Friendly service and environment! Highly highly HIGHLY recommend this spot!!! Whenever I visit DC in future I’ll be sure to stop here again!!!
The bouncer kicked us out because my friend tripped at the entrance and then proceeded to harass us at Kiki and tell the bouncer to not let us out. Was trying to fight us?? It was so bizarre. Management needs to deal with these out of control bouncers!
Wow, 1st, they dont take cash... ok, I get that... so I put the two $24 drinks on my card. Decided I would leave a cash tip, only to be told by the bartender, before I left the tip, you know its classless to not leave a tip. Give me a chance to put my money down jerk! I will not return and if I had realized you were such a jerk bartender, I would have left you a penny!! Overpriced and over the top rudeness.
Always a great time when coming here. When going out on the weekends this is one of the places you want to go to. The rooftop bar is nice but normally pretty packed. The DJs are pretty good & normally play some of the latest hits.
The DJ was on point and It was an experience we’ll definitely be back!!!!
The Dirty Goose is my second home. I come here for good drinks, good music, but ultimately for the people that work here. There’s a sense of camaraderie from the moment you walk in and are greeted by security. I can drink anywhere but I choose The Dirty Goose because it’s like with family.
First things first, I gave it 2 stars because they sell cookies and the cookies are delicious! That would have earned them 5 stars alone but the following experience warranted a loss of a few stars and I feel Im being generous by even giving them 2.CREDIT CARD WAS CHARGED DOUBLE A DAY AFTER WE VISITED.We were there in a group of 4. We moved tables a few times due to the weather. Each time, we asked if we should close out our bill but the bartender said no that we could just move it with us. When we went to leave, we asked for the bill. We paid it and signed the receipt and left. The next day we had 2 charges on our CC. One charge was for the bill we paid and signed for. The other charge was for double the original charge. We tried to call to get an explanation but all phone numbers listed for the bar online do not work. We emailed the bar and the next day we received a response from the owner/bartender.His explanation was that when we went to close out, he didnt want us to have to wait while he went upstairs to see what our bill from the other bartender was so he just charged us an amount. Then later that evening he figured up what he thought we owed and charged us a second time for the full bill (the half we already paid plus the other half). He then said that IF we wanted to be refunded, we could call the next day. He left no number. We emailed back and said we needed a number to call and that of course we wanted a refund as we had been overcharged. We received no response for 2 days and had to email a second time.As of today, 6 days after we visited the bar, we still have not received a refund for the extra money we paid. Though the cookies are good and the drinks werent bad, we wont be back.
Update Oct 2022: The security still ruins this place for me. They are militant and bring their friends. They are rude and unkind and seem to rule the place with an iron fist. The whole point of an inclusive bar is to feel comfortable.Bouncer / security at the bathroom openly accepts bribes to let people bypass the line and get upstairs. I am disappointed.
Excellent new queer bar that is actually making genuine efforts to be a safe space for all (unlike one particular nearby establishment). I hear queer people talking about how comfortable and safe it is every time I go. Classy decor, an awesome mix of new and iconic music, refreshing rooftop, and an attentive and fun staff. This is definitely my new favorite queer bar in DC. I havent been to the brunch yet, but I am excited to try it!
My friends and I had a really great time the other night. The staff was incredible. Patrick made us feel so welcomed. The drinks were strong, and delicious. And great safety precautions were taken by the staff for COVID.
I always have a great time at The Goose! Strong drinks, great bartenders, fun and friendly patrons and a great environment. When I look at some of the bad reviews, I can see attitudes people are bringing to the bar in the first place ... walk in with an open mind and a great attitude and you’ll have a great time at The Dirty Goose!
Clean and neat looking, but not much else that distinguishes itself. The rooftop might have been cool if it was open. The drinks are massively overpriced, and they charged my credit card more than was on my receipt. Luckily theres plenty of other gay bars in the city to go to.
I had a very strange encounter with the bouncer here, I handed him my ID and he told me that he couldnt let me in, confused I ask him why and there wasnt a response. I was with 5 other friends from out of town and was chipper and excited, he may have mistaken this for being drunk, or maybe mistaken me for someone else. I decided to go elsewhere and apparently this bouncer radioed into the clubs down the street which they also denied me. Im still confused what his problem was? I decided to go somewhere else entirely and had a good time elsewhere.
Easily my favorite bar in DC. Good food, awesome staff, great drinks - definitely the best value for U StreetUpdate: as of 1/10/18, the tacos are absolutely incredible. You should be ashamed if you don’t try them at least twice.
The employees are the farthest thing from friendly. Tony to be exact has a never ending attitude and her sense of entitlement is disgusting. He was rude to me and my friends every day we were there. Visiting out of town but definitely will not recommend this place when it’s employees are miserable, rude, entitled, and vulgar. Refusing to close our tab but demanded us to get out.
Always a good vibe when I visit DC!
Be careful... they just added over $15 dollars to my charge the next day. I got a notification that they changed my total to a new total and that I was charged $15 more! Why? I did not approve that tip nor will I be returning to this place. That was very unprofessional and I will be calling the bank it get my money back.
Literally make you stand outside to appear it’s a lot of people inside. Literally like 50 people left out while I was the first in line and I had to stand out there for optics. Only came bc homegirl was dj’n and a friend was there. And the bartender upstairs extremely rude and nasty. Will not be back to rhythmless nation again
They overcharged us ($38 for two drinks, before tax, at a gay bar in DC. Please). Atmosphere wasn’t great either, but shout out to Tatianna, who always kills the gig!
If I could give this place zero stars I would. The night started good, we were enjoying ourselves, then we decided to move to a new bar. The mistake we made apparently was going to the bathroom. My friend and I went to use the bathroom on the second floor (there isnt at rooftop level) and when we went back to get my boyfriend (who also had my phone), we werent allowed back upstairs due to fire code. Ok, I get it, its the law. But can someone please tell him that we cant leave (since employees are still allowed upstairs) so we can go? No. Went to a manager about the situation and he got rude and belligerent, then kicked me out for... reasons? Not quite sure there, other than small man with a superiority complex. My friend also wound up getting kicked out for asking what was happening. Then they threatened to call the cops because we were standing in front of their bar (on public property) because my boyfriend and phone were still inside. Well, cops got called, nothing happened, and we left. However, since they put hands on both me and my friend, I can (and will) be filing a complaint with the liquor board, better business bureau and possible legal charges. It was uncalled for.Sad part is, we decided on that bar because they had a #westandwithher sign out front. Guess they just want to capitalize on the awfulness that happens to women, but have no problem perpetuating it.
You wouldnt lose anything If you avoid this place! I dont usually write a bad review for a place but they need to hire better staff to take care of the place! Bar tenders are super awesome and people are great but the inside bouncer was super rude and is having probably bad moments all the times! Just so sad and wished they could change it!
If you are of color or you want rail drinks avoidAt all cost because, they don’t care. Manager is as bad as the bartenders are!
Ive only had good experiences here and the bartenders are always down to earth.
I like the name. The upstairs smells a lil like a urinal cake, but I find that to be the sure sign of a good bar time. Drinks were good. Bartender was amazingly friendly.
Small, but cute. Expanded rooftop! Reservations and now offering food from Al Crostini great restaurant in DC. Good drinks and fun.
Cute on some nights but not really.... Monday is falling and failing totally 😭. I mean bartender is rude, lack of people, no personality, and a great grandchildren, grandmother and children. So so sad. Pull it together please.
Best priced drinks on U street and love the expanded rooftop! It gets busy on weekends, so arrive early if you don’t want to wait in line.
If youre a person with any spirit at all, avoid the door here. The bouncer literally tried to gouge out my fiances eye for being a little bit tipsy and making a joke about stumbling at the threshold at the entrance. If you value your eyesight, avoid this place .
Have 5 stars based on what I saw from the outside and how courteous the guy at the front was . It was fully booked for the night so I didnt have the chance to enter . Will make a reservation next time if Im ever in DC
Best, juiciest lime for my G&T; 10x juicier than expected. If you can see it from the front, wait until you see it from the back. Lime.Green as a forest; sour as a candy. The drinks are a dream.JUNIPER!merry xmas
One of DCs best lgbtq spots! The rooftop is spacious and there are always good times to be had.
The individuals at the bar are homophobic. I will not only come back here again but will no longer associate with anyone who attends this bar. The individual here are not only blatantly discriminatory but racist. They needs to get their individuals in order but their racism is out of place. Disgusting.
The Dirty Goose time and time again continues to donate their time, energy, and services to SMYAL, making them a new staple within the LGBTQ DC community. Cant recommend them more!
Love coming to the dirty goose… The security guard Derek was real respectful and the drinks are amazing
This is an unpretentious, fun, dive-y gay bar. Simple. Go and enjoy! Also, thank you for requiring proof of vax, smart ppl appreciate that.
The bouncer team here sucks. Don’t own a bar if you don’t expect people to be tipsy upon arrival/departure.
Rockin strong drinks, and I dont feel out of place as a straight guy. Pretty diverse crowd whenever Im there, so not sure what happened with the bouncer comment below.
Great drinks, but doesnt yet seem to have a following or a right-fit pricing model for the cocktails.
I love this place. Chill atmosphere, cool bartenders and good food. Nice little spot in the middle of the U street madness!
Wonderful bar. Open front so it never gets funky ! Very lively place. Went there and got free drinks because of open bar.
James is an amazing bartender ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ will definitely be back.
A nice “hole in the wall” but kinda lame for dancing. More of a sit drink & chat place. Maybe best to start your night here.
Bartender was kinda rude and not personable. I didn’t want to stay and left!
Not a straight bar FYI. The rooftop was cool. Had a good bourbon drink and left.
Didn’t let me in without a valid ID!Make sure to have one physical ID with you!
Best gay bar in DC! Highly recommend.
Great music, great prices, and Derek helped watch my bag.
Super great staff, supportive and a great environment. Proud to have them as a part of the LGBTQ community
Boring bar with little personalty and not great service. Fine if, say, a roof collapses at another nearby bar....
Great hangout bar with friendly staff and well priced drinks.
Awesome new bar....kinds posh and chic....the rooftop deck is everything
Up and coming bar. Developing a good crowd. Nice staff and good food.
We had a pleasant experience at this bar.
The bill was $98 for four vodka sodas. AVOID.
Good roof, nice upper dance floor
Awesome location. Great service and great atmosphere! Highly recommended!
Not for everybody. There a specific crowd they cater to.
Spend your money in a place where they respect you, we will never back here
This place was fun but when I went it was super crowded.
They charged 46$ for 2 wine drinks
Keep politics out of your food and drinks. Bring back Yuengling
Good cheap drinks for happy hour.
Dirty says it all! Bad vibes in this place.
Luce rates it a 10! Love the goose
So apparently a pa license isn’t sufficient to get it...
Great staff. Go to the third floor patio
20 dollars jack&coke
Busted out roof speaker.....for years...
Great place and hot bartenders
Trash
Great rooftop terrace
Super friendly staff
Damn good drink
I recommend
