I went to my first show here a couple years ago and it was an awesome experience. I now go any chance I can to catch a show. Definitely go if you find an acct your a fan of. Because of Barleycorns intimate size, you are truly interacting with the artists and the talent they book is incredible!! The sound is well managed, the vibe is always cool and friendly. Pro tip, order their personal sized pizzas! Omg they are so good. Dont be intimidated to order a drink, although this place is a venue the drinks are in priced the same as any normal bar youd find. The bartenders are just as cool as the vibe and ordering a drink is quick regardless of the crowd size.

Had a great experience here recently. Hadn’t been here in over 20 years. Current owner seems to be taking care of the place, which is a nice change of pace for Kansas’ older venues and clubs. Def catch a show here and enjoy yourself!

I went tonight to see the Salsa group Tumbao. The live music made really happy! The place got packed very quickly. Everyone was enjoying the night. I am coming back for sure.

Bartenders are great. Owner is great. All types of music and shows. Art shows also! Pizza is the bomb.

Quite an experience! We went to see Roche Limit play and they were great!! The crowd was really enjoying the show!! They have a nice outdoor patio and good cold beer!!

Saw Herringbone. Keep an eye on them. Theyre good! Glad to go to this live music venue. And they have Fat Tire!

Every last Saturday of each month they have a band named Tumbao play for their Latin nights. It is a BLAST! You learn how to dance from everyone whos there. Its super nice and incredibly fuun!

Small place but great place for watching live bands.

If there was a zero star option it’d be my best friend. If you’re going to host bands that are reaching a younger demographic maybe don’t have them book your venue. And maybe update your website and have your age requirement shown next time like most SMART businesses. 0/5 stars, tried to call ahead to ask about age requirements and NOBODY answered the phone. Thank you for wasting everyone’s time.

Comedy night was a blast. Small place, so get there early!

My first time here left a great impression. Went for a comedy show, which was wonderful, and it was an overall great vibe from the atmosphere to the company to the staff and show. I absolutely will visit again.

Fun place to catch live entertainment. Good selection of adult beverages and a few beers on tap.

We went there to watch a band, the band was great. The bar was beautiful. The place was super clean, the womens bathroom had 100000 rolls of tp the ladies had so much tp! Everyone was so happy throughout the night. Drinks were so good, they were pouring just right and mixing so well. Also the drinks were perfectly priced for what you got. I will say the bartenders were very tentative and well trained! Also they were great at serving. I watched them high five a lady at the bar because she was having so much fun, had a drink poured for me by another drunk lady and another asked to hug my spouse over miss hearing him. we left early to tell passerbys to go in and see this beautiful place.

Went to Salsa night featuring Wichitas premire Salsa band, Tumbao. Dancing to the music while this band performs is always a blast! The whole bar becomes a crowded dance floor, but the music and dancing are incredible. Although it is generally super crowded, this band is not to be missed if you are a Latin music fan, and there is an air of intimacy, that makes it all feel welcoming and communal. The wait staff does a good job, drinks are reasonably priced, and the general ambiance is cozy. I always try to go any time Tumbao is playing, it is a real treat.Love this place!

Awesome chill place to catch your favorite bands. Not just a place to hear all the local favorites but touring bands as well! Awesome bar staff! Totally recommend following them to keep up on upcoming shows!

Great place to play music!!

We went there to watch a band, the band was great. The bar not so much. The place was dirty, the womens bathroom had 1 roll of tp the ladies had to keep passing from stall to stall and no one was checking the condition of the bathroom throughout the night. Drinks were not good, they were over pouring and not mixed well. Also the drinks were over priced for what you got. I will say the bartenders were very tentative just not well trained. Also they were over serving by a long shot. I watched them carry one lady out of the bar, had a drink poured on me by another drunk lady who didnt seem to realize she was holding a beer when she threw her hands up, and another threatened to fight my spouse over miss hearing him. Im shocked that the police werent called at some point all though we left early to avoid the drunk drivers.

The most entertaining night I have had in a very long time. The live music was exceptional. I highly recommend Salsa Night. Very friendly environment.

Came for a couple gigs and parties hosted by this venue. Its design can be a bit crowded and awkward. This is a bar for people to socialize and drink but for people looking for music, dancing, and more of the club like bar, this isnt it. They mostly host alternative or rock based bands which is great, but not the place for everyone. Great place for that specific crowd, just wasnt the bar I had hoped to stumble upon!

Amazing bar, consistently good shows, standard prices on drinks. No craziness--just good old fashioned fun! And old-fashioned is no joke: its nestled inbetween historic oldtown and downtown with art installations all over the alley. Open mic is the best talent in town (art or comedy). Great rock booking for bands. Could use some scarier people. ;) IYKYK

Killer rock bar. Really more of a music venue than bar. Great local scene, cool bands. If there isnt a show, they might not be open so be aware of that. Their Facebook page has all the info you need (and their actual website is garbage). Reasonably priced drinks and cool people

If you want a venue with a great atmosphere. This is it. I manage a Record Label that performed at Barleycorns. Myself, and our performers had a great experience. Its a more intimate setting where you can really connect with the audience. With the right marketing, this place could be THE SPOT for live venues in Wichita.

Tasteful and cozy bar that also has many interesting events! Definitely like them on Facebook to keep track of all of the live shows which include singing, poetry, and comedy. There is a $5 entrance fee for the shows but it’s a small price to pay for a great evening to witness talented locals perform.

Band was amazing... Dont know if they have anything nonalcoholic... People there kinda sucked feels really cramped small place wish the stage was bigger for the bands too. I liked their pinball.

Dude this is one of my favorite bars to go to! The door men are kind and secure, the bar tenders are awesome, especially Donna! I love going on Wednesday, EMO night, brings back the good ol days when eagles lodge was still open and we didnt have a care in the world. Also every other night is some epic event, they always have a dope live bands or a cool fundraiser. Super rad establishment with good service. Hit this place up!

Ive honestly never had good service in this bar for years. Owner change and everything. Bartenders are more inclined to help their friends while just talking away. The guys at the door can be persuaded into not letting certain people in the bar that have not received a ban. The owner will just tell you hes not responsible for what other people do. The plastic cups is a weird flex for mix drinks as well. Pretty sure unless were in a club those come in a glass. Just overall theres an awful vibe in this place.

Great venue, great sound, good atmosphere

Very loud upbeat music, lots of lights, small intimate place with historical feel, was very popular and crowded. Bartender was friendly, bathrooms were clean, seemed like good company, it was just too loud to talk in there comfortably.

Great bar/ music venue, live bands were great. They have a large bar and lots of tables. Only one pool table. Even have an outside smoking area. Staff was great!

This past February, a friend and I went to Barleycorns to see the Freak Show. For this kind of event, Barleycorns is not the one, its WAY too small for that. They had ONE table for four, a bench down one wall and some folding chairs in front of the tiny stage area and wall to wall people. BUT as a bar, I like the small intimate space, as long as there was more seating. They chandeliers are out of place there but they totally work. Loved them! They also have a very nice smoking area out back, basically enclosed with picnic tables/benches and tables/chairs, I think. More seats out there than inside. Employees were very nice. Id go there again...on a regular just bar night.

Barleycorns is a great local watering hole with a fun mixed crowd of all various ages...live music venue with local and traveling artists. Full bar, dance floor, and cocktails. Good service and expect to pay a small $10 cover when bands are playing. Meet up with friends or make some new ones. Parking in back and street side.

I absolutely enjoy that they have emo night on Wednesdays for karaoke, and book bands to play like Hawthorne FREAKING Heights, whom I used to listen to in high school all the time. I never thought Id get to see these guys. Barleycorns may be a small bar, but they pack a big smile on your face, aside from the one youll get from a good buzz on their drinks.

I tip with every round I purchase and get annoyed when bartenders take your change. This venue has gone downhill... Music during the week is better than weekends but its generally pretty empty on weeknights. I generally avoid Barleycorns anymore unless theres music Im sure will be great.

Come here if you want to be treated with the rudest customer service you could ever imagine. She ( dona the bartender)cussed out musicians for practicing in a unmarked unlocked back room bathroom which was for bands that did not have any sort of sign to state no one was supposed to be in there. She screamed and was irate cursing at wonderfull respectful gentlemen and was completely out of line to the guys who were practicing and who are also paying customers and regulars there. If it had been marked do not enter fine ,or kindly said this room is for employees only fine, that would have been respected, but they didnt know, and I was shocked at her level of unprofessionalism for her handling of the situation and will NEVER go back to this establishment, nor will the musicians who were treated this way and were weekly regulars. Too bad it happened and sorely disappointed.

You know what it is. Nice bar. Good location. Great acoustics. Decent prices. Cool atmosphere. Awesome bands. Go see one!

Barleycorns is always amazing. This is the only place I regularly do open mics. Everyone is always so welcoming and its great to a wide range of musicians share their talents. Great spot.

I made my first visit to attend the Spark of Madness Robin Williams Fan Art Show. Cute little place. The gentleman, Farley who owns Nortons Brewery did an excellent job setting uo the exhibit and it was cool how some artists were chilling amd making their own sletches. My piece, Loneliness is SHAZBOT was included amd I was happy to be a part of it.

Small venue but fun place for live music

Seriously likely my favorite bar in Kansas. Well curated shows, awesome drink specials, and some of the best pizza in the Midwest! Always an awesome eclectic crowd as well!

This place has all of the best live music in Wichita anymore. The owner has spent a ton of money on music for this venue so if you want music on a weeknight or otherwise I would check here.

A charming little bar with surprisingly good little pizzas. The drinks were also well priced for what you get. The pinball machines could use a bit of updating and upkeep but thats my opinion.

Eh it was kind of boring. There was no one there but like 5 people who seemed to probably work there. Ive heard its much more fun when they have bands. There was no band the night I went and it was slow.

I would give it a 5 because the atmosphere is very nice and they play good music... but the bartender, a very short haired brunette gal, was incredibly rude and ruined the experience. Other than the poor service, enjoyable place.

Great spot in Wichita. Went here for an event of beat battles and was pleased. Good atmosphere. Friendly staff. Curious to try out more performances here in the future.

Laid back and great music! All the people who work there are really chill and friendly! And they make great drinks!

Seven opening acts before getting to see Wax was too much suffer through. If the show doesnt start till 9:00 dont put 8:00 on your flyers. Tickets were more expensive online than the opening acts were selling them for outside the door.

Never go to a paid event Barleycorns. Went to 311 and it was a clusterf**k. Didnt start letting people in until just before the opener started. Line was still blocks long when the show started. Rented out the TSA for security, never seen anything like it at any of the dozens of other concerts Ive been to. Will not return.

Had a great time, went to see comedian Nick Allen he was great. Barleycorns always has great live music and comedians.

Incredibly irresponsible for a bar to encourage people to gather in the middle of a pandemic. When our local hospitals are overwhelmed, remember places like this.
