I have always kept my hair very long and Abrey suggested I do a bigger cut next time so my hair is healthier. I went in today looking to cut quite a bit off. She talked with me for while about exactly what I wanted and how I wanted to style it. My hair turned out AMAZING! It was exactly what I was looking for and my hair looks so much healthier.

I really enjoy to get my hair done here, they are the best, the view at the front patio is a plus! The ONLY place & people I trust with my curls. TAYLOR IS AMAZING!Honestly, I felt so blessed leaving her chair. I get compliments every day on my curls and cut.I have to preface all of this by adding that that for about two weeks, I went around Austin doing hair consultations with pretty much every salon you could think of. I’m not easily persuaded nor do I trust any stylist with my tresses.From the consultation, Taylor was very warm, friendly and knowledgeable. She LISTENED to my concerns, and collaborated with me and my poor dry hair. I told her what I wanted and expressed my long term hair goals. SHE. EXCEEDED. THEM!!!The experience was very easy going, relaxing and pleasant. Taylor is THEE BEST STYLIST. Professional. Skilled. Kind. Knowledgeable. And very detailed. If you get her, you’re in great hands! I had an appointment with Abry to discuss issues with my hair as its become quite wavy as it has turned gray. Ive always had straight, thick hair, but as it has turned salt/pepper gray, its now thick and wavy. Abry took time to assess my hair, she asked plenty of questions to determine how I was taking care of my hair and what style cut I wanted. After a dry cut, she washed and conditioned my hair, then further refined the cut. Another trip to the bowl to rinse away any stray hairs and then the magic started. She explained what products she used, how much to use, in what order, and used a fine tooth comb to distribute it through my hair. She encouraged the curls and waves to form and used a diffuser to dry my hair. I have never seen such natural waves in my hair like the ones I had when I left! Thank you so much!!

Destiny was great. I came in for a wedding style consultation and also their signature rake and shake. Left very satisfied and will be back already next week for a curly haircut. I’ve always been scared about people cutting my hair after years of bad experiences so having her show me what she would cut and what it would do made me feel confident to finally get a cut that my curls will love.

I went and saw Taylor for my first ever professional cut and style. I have never been to a hairstylist before and having Taylor be my first experience was truly incredible. I let her have fun with the cut and style since I’m not so attached to the length of my hair more so the health. She completely changed me!!!! She gave me the most perfect cut! It suits my face perfectly. I didn’t know what I wanted but I couldn’t not have imagined anything better. As for Taylor not only is she a talented stylist but she is truly the SWEETEST person ever. Taylor cut my and styled my hair. She was great. Being a curly girl herself she knows how to style and cut curly hair. She took her time to assess my hair and asked questions about how I like to wear my hair. She explained all the products and how to use them. My hair looks great!

Salon not ADA friendly. Salon is on the second floor of a shopping center. Elevator is not visible. I asked about it and was told it was not working. Haircut was okay. Styling was okay. In fact, I would rate the entire experience as okay. Did not consider the salon as an upscale salon. Chair for shampoo bowl had water on it. Stylist did not notice - I had to point it out. It happened twice. Was told it was likely from the AC vent directly above it as it drips sometime. There were other bowls we could have used as only one stylist was working that day. When I told the stylist my ear had just gotten a load of water in it, she told me I needed to move back further in the chair. She did not offer me a towel to wipe my ear out. And it happened again just seconds later. I kept quiet because why bother. Aesthetically, the salon is rather drab. Does not evoke a feeling of being pampered and well taken care of or being in a place of beauty. Stylist was competent enough but for what you are being charged, an experience is in order.

I had Abrey and she was absolutely lovely! I went in for a general shape/trim with styling and my hair has never looked fuller and felt so light! Even though we went a little shorter with my bangs that expected because of shrinkage, I actually really like them and it was a happy accident. Thank you so much, Abrey!

I had my curly cut with Abrey and I could not be happier with the results! She was so professional and explained everything she was doing to my hair in a way I could understand. She took everything I said into consideration and gave me the exact cut I was looking for. I also love how she explained why the products I was using were or weren’t suited to my hair and that she gave me great recommendations for what to use instead. I would highly recommend! Abrey was great and gave me a lot of info and showed me how to do everything. I had been doing my hair wrong and using the wrong products. She said that the products I’ve been using are way too oily and heavy for my hair and directed me to what I should be using instead and how to apply them. Of course the products cost more, but I went in knowing that and ready for advice and ready to purchase based off their recommendations. She really listened to the kind of cut I wanted. And although I needed more cut off… I wasn’t ready to go a couple inches, so instead of cutting my hair the way she would probably prefer, she chose to honor my request and build my trust by taking it slow, which I’m so grateful for. My hair felt so much lighter using the product she recommended and I had a better curl texture right off the bat. Thanks Austin Curls !Here is a before (stripped shirt) and after and the after (in the white shirt) was taken a day after, so I slept on my hair.

I have been straightening and blow drying my hair for almost a decade, so I was shocked when Destiny was able to bring back my curls! Abrey did an amazing job! I wanted to get rid of some length for the warmer weather and have my layers done shorter to help with volume (I have fine, 3A-ish hair). She killed it!!! I was so surprised to see how much volume and definition my hair can achieve, and by using just one or two products! They did an excellent job on my hair, I got a trim and my hair dyed… However, I was there for 4 1/2 hours. My stylist was seeing another customer at the same time I was there and I had to wait around a lot. I also ended up spending way more than I thought I was going to. There was also an additional fee that I was unaware of called an “eco fee”.

Destiny was fantastic! This was my first Ouidad cut and it is by far my best curly cut yet. Destiny accomplished everything I hoped for and more than I thought was possible! A total transformation. Cannot recommend Destiny and Austin Curls enough.

I made a free consultation appointment with Abrey de la Rosa. She listened all my concerns and suggested what was best for me. A week later I went back for the actual appointment, and the results were amazing! She cut my hair, touched up my roots, styled my hair and showed me how to do and maintain my hair at home. Taylor made my curls come to life! I have suppper dry 4a-4b hair with quite a bit of heat damage and I never knew how to properly take care of/style my curls. Taylor washed, cut, and styled my hair AND actively taught ME how to care for/style my hair in 1hr 30 min. She’s pays veryy close attention to detail and is super gentle, definitely recommend!

I’ve been coming to Destiny since June 2022 when I had my first curly cut after straightening my hair for most of my life. Austin Curls is the curly cut experience I have been hoping for. I loved having a consult before my cut. I am almost six months in and ready for my second cut. Abrey was my stylist and was incredibly helpful and did a fabulous job. The products she suggested have changed my life. No more fairy knots, no more hours of untangling, no more dreading wash day. My hair is soft and silky, no longer coarse and dry. Abrey made herself available through text for any questions I might have about styling or products. Abrey saved me from cutting my curls off! The humidity down here can be intense, which left my curls…well, frizzy! I tried a few salons before Austin Curls, got the same advice from both - use more products. Not thanks!Abrey swooped in, cut my hair in longer layers which saved the length while giving me volume. She even sent me videos on how to use her method when styling it at home.Needless to say, I won’t be going anywhere else! Thanks Abrey, I absolutely love my curls now!

I am truly disappointed to leave this review. I loved the cuts and the care I received here before. Its taken me about ten years to find someone I felt like understood what I was wanting out of my haircuts. This last trip was probably my worst one. I was going in for the big chop, to donate my hair. I included it in the notes when making my appointment and so I figured this wasnt going to be a surprise when I came in. I even selected a service that universally takes longer at any salon so I made sure there was enough time. It didnt seem like this was passed along or that it was noted. Everything felt so rushed. I was able to have a say in how much was cut, but after that, I was never asked how I wanted my hair to look while it was short. The stylist just started chopping away. I was able to slip in just two little notes of what I wanted during the process, but I never got to pick my hair style. I realized after, that she also never made sure it was even. I was so thrown off by the whole routine that when I got home, I was just focused on trying to learn how to style my new hair and make it work for me. Which already is a huge adjustment going from long to short.Fast forward to a few weeks later, I reached out to let her know that my cut was off. The right is now noticeably shorter than the left side. From what I can measure myself, its about an inch difference. I was met with an immediate no and that if I wanted to get it fixed, then I would have to pay the full price for a second hair cut. It was due to a policy that was neither relayed to me, nor in writing anywhere, which says I have two weeks to reach out for an adjustment. I was told that hair can grow different lengths around the head up to a half an inch in a month... Which is clearly not my issue and a bit gaslight-y. There were no photos, no questions and no consult to see if it was actually cut incorrectly or if it was normal growth. It was either two weeks or pay for another full service right off the bat.This isnt just a supercuts. Ive had to save up the cash just for the first cut because of curly hair premiums, now I have to double pay for the same service to get it fixed elsewhere.- 2 Weeks Later -After leaving this review, the manager was nice enough to reach out to me and talk me through what she did to resolve this situation. She even offered to fix the haircut herself. I was even tempted to take down my review, as I know this will only affect all of the stylists at this location, not just the one I worked with. However, after the call, I received a text from her that stated that this was still going to be a whole new cut. So, after admitting that her stylist approached this situation entirely wrong, I was still going to be charged another $160 for the same haircut.I went to a different salon where the stylist not only confirmed that my hair was very crooked in multiple places, but also let me know that she believed my hair was cut with dull scissors due to the way my ends were frayed. This new salon was also a small business and offered the same exact services for half the price. If you’re not flush with cash, I would suggest finding someone else to go to.

Austin Curls is the place to go if you need a curly cut! They are very knowledgeable and take the time to help your hair look its best. Taylor was my stylist and has the cutest curly hair, so she knows all about it!

Loved my experience here. Ive had some good cuts over the years in Austin but I never felt like anyone really understood my hair until I went to Jasmin. She took time to ask question and then educate me about my hair as she went along. At the end she even asked me if I knew how to take care of my curls at bedtime which I did not. Her cut perfectly supported my curls and they looked as good as they did 15 years ago. I highly recommend Jasmin, and her fabulous assistant!

This place made me love my curls again! Growing up, my stylist used to tell me how she wished she had my hair. I never understood it because to me, it was a curse of constant frizz and unwelcome poofiness. I looked forward to the few times a year I would get my hair cut and blow dried just so I could run my fingers through my straightened hair. But this place taught me how to care for my curls and now I think they look amazing! I thought I had it good when I found a DevaCurl stylist but I think this is better. Austin Curls uses water-soluble Ouidad products which dont weigh down my fine hair and are easier to use. I have seen Jasmin and Destiny and both were so sweet and very talented.

Tried twice, pretty unwelcoming vibe in the place the first time. Thought maybe it was an off day, but the next visit was just as bad. Abrey was nice and provided a nice cut, but I have no desire to go back a third time and be in that kind of atmosphere.

Jasmin is *incredible*, she clearly understands curly hair (in all of its varieties) very well and really listens to your needs, conceptualizes your wants and does not disappoint. The salon is beautiful, I was pleasantly surprised by the cozy and welcoming atmosphere. I shared my hair story and current hair challenges/frustrations with Jazmin, she listened to me and was compassionate and understanding. It is very clear that Jazmin is a well experienced hair professional because she knew exactly what I needed. I arrived to my hair appointment ready to surrender and do another curly hair big chop, but Jazmin suggested we try trimming my hair first and see where to go from there. After washing, styling and diffusing I was soo happy with my final result. Jazmin gave my curls a super cute shape that I so badly needed, my curls now look healthier and previous hair breakage is no longer noticeable if any. I’ve been here twice now, once with Jasmin and the most recent time (pictured here) with Destiny. I have received so many haircuts that I’ve been dissatisfied with that I typically resort to trying to cut it myself. I must say, both times I got my haircut here I felt like a masterpiece. They are just so good at what they do and this will be my go to place. If you’ve got curls and have been struggling to find a trusted stylist, you HAVE to give this place a try. You will not be disappointed!

Overall, I really enjoy this place. I have had past appointments with Jasmin, Destiny Benitez, and most recently Abrey. My first two haircuts were excellent and I believe this one should be great as well (always need to give it a few days to really get a feel). All three stylists have given me solid advice and tips on how to improve my routine.Edit: Changed from four stars to five stars since the one little issue I had was adressed from the owner Jasmin. My first time going to a curly hair specialist and I am totally in love with the results!! Jasmin did an amazing Ouidad haircut and style for my 3A curly hair! She was really polite and answered all my questions very thoughtfully. She walked me through the whole styling process and how to maintain my curls on my own at home. She was very genuine and honest with me about what products I needed. I could tell she wasn’t just trying to make money selling a bunch of products to me but instead told me that I only really needed 2 products. I really appreciated that because I am just a college student so I didn’t want to spend too much money. She even told me what kind of products I should avoid and recommended other products to me that I could buy from any grocery store if I didn’t want to spend too much money. Jasmin is clearly very experienced and knowledgeable about all kinds of curly hair so I would definitely recommend her to anyone with curly hair!

I was so excited to see that Austin Curls had opened in Austin! I quickly booked an appointment and Im so glad I did. I live about an hour and a half away and Jasmine was wonderful and accommodating given my long drive and I couldnt be happier with my curls! Jasmin is awesome! I love the quidad cut, method (rake and shake), and products. I was in desperate need of a cut and Jasmin is a hair wizard! My hair looks and feels so good and she is so gentle, the rake and shake was more like rake and a tranquil wave. The gal was late, there was no drinking water, the curl cut wasn’t all that. It’s all about the product and the technique, but they show you all that. Does everyone charge 150$ a cut these days? EDIT: The owner did reach out and let me know there are stylists here who specialize in 4C hair - if you have 4C hair she suggests a consultation before you go in for your cut/style.Original Review Below-----------------------------I dont leave reviews but if you have 4C hair I think you should know - I dont think this salon services our hair type (especially if your hair is short) as well as they do curly hair. 4c hair typically requires more styling than is offered here. For the cut and style option - This is more like a blow dry bar offering for curly (not coily!!) hair than a full blown salon. I have short - 4c hair - definitely not terrible just not the quality I expected for a curly specialized salon unfortunately. I ended up going to a barber to finish out my cut the way I wanted.

I have been using Ouidad products for many years on my curly-corkscrew hair. Having a Ouidad cut makes all the difference, and a great stylist means that my hair grows in flawlessly. This was my first visit with Jasmin and I was blown away - she clearly knows the Ouidad method very well and she did exactly what I hoped for with the cut. Jasmin is kind, patient, and super talented. I would send anyone with curly hair, from little girls to senior citizens, to Jasmin with my full endorsement. I’m so glad she’s in Austin!

Expected better - my appointment started 30 mins late, which wasnt a huge deal, but the main goal of my cut was to increase volume. I left with my curls flatter on my head than theyve ever been. For some reason, a number of the products werent available. When asked whether I preferred light or heavy hair product, I said light, we went with heavy because thats all that was on hand.Usually when I leave a curl salon, I can keep my hair going for a few days. I had to wash this right out because of how flat and stuck to my head my roots were. Never got the email on pineappling or other techniques that was mentioned as part of the service when I was leaving. I had also asked to purchase product but was quickly ushered out without being able to buy anything.They seem overbooked and for the price, I will be exploring other curl salons in Austin.

I work M-F, so I scheduled an appointment 2 months in advance to be seen on a Saturday. The day before I get a text asking if I can come in at a different time-- sure. The day of I get a text saying the stylist is sick so Ill need to reschedule-- again, sure. I asked when I can reschedule and was told that upcoming Tuesday is available. No, I cant take time off from work with one days notice. The other option I was given was two Fridays later, when I would be out of town. I was asked what my availability looks like and said M-F evenings and all day Saturdays, to which I received no reply. I texted again asking for a reschedule and was ignored. Again, I work M-F so I scheduled a Saturday appointment 2 months in advance. If you have a busy work schedule I dont recommend this place-- very unprofessional.UPDATE: Thanks for the response. I understand that this is a small business and that people get sick-- it happens. What I dont understand is why I was completely ignored afterwards. Multiple people work here, and some (any) effort could have been made to reschedule folks. Instead, an effort was made to not reschedule. If I get sick at work that doesnt mean get to just not respond to emails or decide not to finish my projects when I return. You say youd like to offer me an amazing experience-- sure, I want to get my hair cut, thats why I scheduled 2 month out. Feel free to actually reach out and reschedule me.

I really liked my haircut and Destiny did a really good job but I was never sent any instructions whatsoever afterward on what to do with my hair despite texting several times asking for it.
