Best neighborhood bar in Austin. The service is exceptional if you know what you want. Its too crowded at times for boneheads that dont know how to order. The food is from Pool Burger downstairs which has an exceptional veggie burger if you have one of those in your group. Go there and share a pitcher with friends. Plus, they have White Claws.
Was visiting and saw my Celtics clinch banner 18 here. Was a great environment and the bartender was cool. Told me about Lalas. Highly recommend.
Still the best place in Austin for a cold beer any day. Juke box has something for everyone. Locals and visitors always welcome
The bartender today, older blonde women completely ignored us with an almost empty bar. Definitely not worth finding parking for.
Delightful neighborhood bar! 🍺Beer:Several draught beers starting at 3.50 up to 4.00, however, I believe those prices are based on a 10oz glass. They also have a large beer format and pitchers for maybe 14.Service:All bar service, bartenders were friendly.Environment:Small bar - can get packed. If they installed booths on the back and got folding tables to collapse when bar is full, there would be more space to hang. One small pool table. Fight me for it. 😂
A lot of college kids. I was pretty surprised. Didnt expect that young of a crowd. Overall still, cheap drinks, iconic spot, wacky bartenders. Not bad
Cozy place. great jukebox. at least 2 pool tables that I could see (I didnt go all the way into the next room) indoor and outdoor seats. friendly people on both sides of the bar! great time thank you!!
Now a historic site in Austin, this dive bar is an excellent spot to grab a pitcher and relax with friends
The woman bartender on Sundays has a dismissive, rude, horrible attitude. Ignores you and when she finally gets around to you it’s “what do you want”. Nothing after this!Keep this horrible energy.
Great dive bar atmosphere but be warned it is VERY CROWDED AND BUSY on Friday evenings. It will take you a moment to get a drink.
Great lil dive bar. Good prices and good service with dope atmosphere. Nice place to chill and unwind
Ordered drinks tonight for a group of friends and got asked “where’s your purse” by the bartender serving. As a gay man, not the vibe or welcoming feeling. Would advise any of my friends (or anyone in the LGBTQ+ community) to avoid this bar. Will be sharing this experience to many.
Tiny bathroom and almost no parking at this classic Austin bar, and no kitchen
A wonderful example of how Austin used to be! Friendly people, and a great atmosphere
Great Austin icon, service could be better. Prices are kinda high
Great place to enjoy a frosty mug of a pitcher of your choice. We used to ride bicycles over to this place to chug frosty beers and return home. Bartenders are always helpful here. A true bar in Austin. One of the last remaining.
Cheap pitchers, cheap pool, not too crowded on weekdays, good vibes on weekends. If you want a dive bar, this is the one.
Great old dive bar. Parking is a challenge, but the joint is just right. Ill try food next time. Look, its not a night club, its a dive bar and the beer is cold, the lights low, and the crowd is eclectic.
A true Austin relic and the bartenders rule ❤️
Old school bar, but some of the younger customers are a pain.
Whats not to love when not paying high prices on Rainey. Just dont be bougie and enjoy a down to earth Austin crowd.
Dark and sunny dive bar. Fun to play pool.
Honestly one of my favorite dives in Austin. It smells like your friends parents pool house from the 80s and where else can you get a pitcher of beer for under $8? The Jukebox is good too.Love the atmosphere.
Unfortunate service, met a gentleman at the bar who, unbeknownst to me, brought a drink in from outside. Because he was seen talking with our group, prohibited any of our group regardless of affiliation from service. Poor management and problem resolution for such a shady location lacking quality clientele. Would recommend elsewhere
This bar is great; I can’t believe I didn’t come here sooner. The drinks are reasonable and it is very clean for the dive vibe it gives off. It’s a hidden little gem, bonus you can bring food from Pool Burger up to eat while you drink. The bartender was friendly and the dark cool atmosphere is a great escape from the sun
I’d seen this place for years but never came in. Finally, it was my buddy’s birthday and we were close, so came in for a couple drinks. I dig the small dive-y vibe, but dang, the guy was suuuper rude to me. I was wanting to like the place but that really put me off, so won’t be back. Oh well. Maybe he was just having a bad day? No idea.
Always good... Update... Have loved Deep Eddy since I was of age to drink. But at least let dogs on the patio 😫 downgrading from 5 to 4 because sometimes the dog is out, theyre allowed so many places, including the trail right there next to Deep Eddy, and pool burger, and then you get to Deep Eddy and have to go home :(
Good little neighborhood bar with pool tables and cold beer.
Very rude and intolerant personnel. Was in the bar yesterday evening (07/04) between 9:30 and 10:30. The bartender told me I have to be in jail just because I am Russian and indirectly implied that Russians should not study at the University of Texas at Austin.
Another one of the last remaining personifications of the true old Austin. Cozy neighborhood bar with one of the best record selections on the jukebox in all of Austin. Don’t miss out on Will Bridge’s Burger trailer Pool Burger in the back.
This is still one of the truly great local watering holes. While tons of wanna be hipster dives keep popping up, they still serve cold pitchers of beer in cold glasses and the ac still struggles to keep the place cool. Thankfully a lack of windows, excellent service, and a decent juke box keep the place cool enough even when its over a 100 fehrenheit during friday happy hour. Please stay away! Jk, just try and keep it the way it is.
The service was ok. The drinks were ok. It has one pool table, a jukebox, and a patio.
This is one of my favorite Austin dive bars to date! Neon lights, ancient furniture, old-timey decor. Couldnt ask for much more. After trying 2 other places that ended up being closed on a Sunday night, we finally stumbled upon deep Eddy - they were open! Took a seat at the bar and the bar tender got to us fairly quickly. Really enjoyed the ambiance and it wasnt too noisy. It was a really chill place and a good spot to grab a drink w a friend and have a nice conversation.
Great CASH ONLY bar. Very friendly bartenders, locals and minutes away from the Deep Eddy pool. Great local hangout and a good range of local activities during the weekend. They do have an ATM here, but be forewarned that it is CASH ONLY. Many times Ive forgotten about this, but just as with my reusable grocery bags, it eventually sticks to bring em.
I love this bar. Its a dive and some of the bartenders dont give a hoot, theyll make you wait. Go sink a dollar in the good times jukebox and choose some classics. Shoot a friendly game of pool. Be sure to bring a buddy and split a pitcher because the beer is expensive by the glass. Dont try if youre underage. Listen to the most eclectic group of people try and talk about a single subject and try not to become a regular.
Horrible experience. Filthy glasses. Filthy restrooms. Some unknown substance floating in our pitcher and the rudest response after we brought it to their attention (discretely at that). On top of all that, they tried tacking an extra pitcher of beer onto my tab that definitely wasnt ordered. Manager was EXTREMELY rude. Stay away at all costs.
Employees do not know how to verify valid ids. Wanted to enjoy some beer at a local joint w/ friends but were turned away with valid drivers licenses. Wouldnt except other forms of id either. Hate to see it when your trying to support local.
Best bar in town, so dont go here, jk... Go anytime and ask Kevin for a Chris Vargas special! Maybe some regular lime and a splash of dehydrated lime (a lot), salt (kosher), a few cubes of ice add your favorite Mexican beer and dont forget the Tajin powder
Cheap beer. Not too crowded on Friday night. Plenty of characters. People willing to talk to you or join you in a game of pool. Parking. The outdoor area could be bigger and less smoky. Basically, a great spot to end the night away from the downtown crowds.
This is a nice, quiet place off Lake Austin that serves pretty dang cheap beers. The people who frequent are all mostly seem to know each other, which makes it even more welcoming. Its cash only, so make sure to stop by an atm or your bank before heading over here (& get enough out to tip well). Theres a pool table, and a juke box- add those to cheap drinks and youve got yourself one fine afternoon/evening.
This place is classic, ice cold beer, pool tables and just steps away from deep eddy pool. This is the only bar on the west end of the lake and is a perfect stop when youre doing a bike tour!
One of Austins great dive bars. A fun night combined with a trip to the Deep Eddy Pool and Pool Burger.
Go deep at the Deep Eddy Cabaret. A REAL jukebox filled with classic albums…72 years and counting…
Same as it ever was. Super Dive bar! Reasonable prices, great bar staff. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Austin Classic.
I lived across the street on south lake Austin Blvd. at the time a pitcher was a dollar. And they had a pool table in the back and a flying duck game you shot with a pistol. If you were a god shot and not to intoxicated, the ducks would fall screaming into the ground. Way before video games. A wonderful bar to. I loved it .. A short walk and myself, Steve crossant Bruce Morgan Martin, Richard Alcock, and many more friends Steve winters, and Martin Bernard..Gotta go again. !!!
The bar tender told me to lose weight when I asked him for my check after being disrespected. He has no idea what feeling he made me feel or how to speak to a woman but that is beyond heart breakIng that a bar in Austin, TX would encourage this behavior.
My cousin bought me one of those souvenir Deep Eddy baseball hats. Best gift ever. Cheap beer, good vibes and plenty of classics on the jukebox.
A defiantly old-school outpost of dive-ness perched on the hill above Deep Eddy Pool, across Mopac from the rapid mutations of development downtown, Deep Eddy Cabaret is where you go when you dont want to deal with the changes that are sweeping over Austin. The first barrier they place to the outside world is that they dont take cards. I read complaints sometimes from people upset that this or that new trailer doesnt take cards. Well, Deep Eddy Cabaret was not taking cards before they were born! Theres an ATM inside if you didnt think ahead. The second barrier is the large amount of regulars, which makes it hard to break in. The old dude I was playing pool against the other night was born in the 30s, and he basically owned that table. The staff will chat up the patrons like they were old friends, because often enough, they are.The third barrier is the interior. It might not actually be that small, but it feels small, and something about the layout always gives off a cramped, crowded vibe. Every square inch of the walls is coated in UT memorabilia, which doesnt entice outsiders. Theres a patio outside, but its not very spacious either. But if you can get past those, its great. Absurdly cheap beer ($9 pitchers), multiple pool tables, rad jukebox, a few TVs for sports or what have you, and you have what the 1950s considered a perfect bar. For long-term Austinites, that kind of continuing dedication is still good enough.
Cool dive bar in Austin. Great place to grab a drink after paddling on Town Lake. Good burgers at the stationary food truck out back.
Deep Eddy is high on my list of favorite dive bars in Austin. Cheap pitchers of beer, pool and a great jukebox make this place worth a visit!
Awesome spot. Bartender was friendly and very accommodating. Will be back on next trip to Austin
Classic dive bar. Prices have increased recently. Id expect its because the area has recently got some new food joints. But nice place to hang out and play some pool.
One of the OGs still alive in Austin! You have to go here before progress eats up another Austin jewel! You wont regret it!
Still going strong with frosty beer mugs, a no nonsense jukebox, and walls that double as a museum of Austin culture. They also have local brews in cans, if you insist.
Awesome dive bar. Just recently became not cash only, and I believe now serves a limited liquor menu, but a fantastic dive atmosphere with cheap beer prices and a good vibe.
A great hole in the wall bar. Very reasonably priced and never too crowded. They have pool and a great juke box. We take our out of town friends here all the time
Pool burger is really good! They also have really tropical/fun drinks. Took a star off because the staff seemed unmotivated.
Love the Old Austin vibe. Bartenders are friendly. So glad I finally got to have this experience!
The blonde bartender was rude. She ignored us and made us seem like we were an inconvenience. Rude rude rude
Perfect after a swim!
They dont take credit cards.EDIT: Im told they take credit cards now. Upgrading my review from 1 to 3 stars. Ill have to visit again to give a more fair review since I cant remember what the place was like in my brief visit the first time.
Tiny little dive bar with cheap beer by the pitcher, an eclectic juke box, and pool tables that you cant make some shots on because the walls are too close. My kind of place.
Great little dive bar. When I walked in I was transported to the 1980s. I love the nostalgic feeling. And I was surprised that they had a patio but they did and I was pleased
A classic Austin dive bar, dont confuse the Cabaret with the vodka!! 😎🤘
Good dive bar but bartenders werent the friendliest guys
One of the all time great bars in Austin! Coldest beer on the planet, and 2 pool tables. If its wrong, I dont wanna be right... ;-)
Wonderful old school bar in Austin. My parents went there when they were in school, my husband and I go there and now my children love it. It is a great place for Austin.
This is by far my favorite neighborhood bar Ive ever been to. Cheap beer, friendly bar tender, and the clientele are usually friendlier than most.
Great austin authentic bar with most important asset, cold beer mugs and cold AC! fantastic juke box and good pool table- golden tee as well
One of the last true bars in Austin! Cold beer and 50 cent pool, nice!
Great small bar with a laid-back atmosphere. Very Austin! Some pool tables and a good old-school Jukebox
Awesome dive bar right in downtown Austin with cheap beer and friendly staff. A very relaxing place to chill.
No frills local bar with cheap drinks, great location, and off-street parking.
This is a Dive bar. The very definition. Gross, dingy, dirty, ect. Two drinks cost $30 after tip. Outrageous. I will never go back here.
Staff is always nice even when they have a full house. Prices are decent. Food and atmosphere reminds me of Atlanta.
This is the best dive bar in Austin from Sun to Wed.
Fun, low-key bar. Pool table, a good June box, good drinks, plus big TVs if you want to watch a game.
Lol at the bar tender with your goofy mustache “Turn down your phone or put headphones in no one wants to hear that” hahaha chill out
Dive Bar? Oh yeah! This place is great for grabbing a couple of beers on weekday afternoons and waiting out bad traffic.
This place is bad azz...beer and burgers. Cant thank the race team for the hospitality!! See you next year.
Phenomenal Dive Bar
What a gem of a dive bar! Great bar staff, very friendly patrons, great beer prices, what more can you ask for?
I guess this was an actual cabaret back in the day. The history is completely lost on me though when I sit in a dive-ish hole in the wall. Its a popular place for a diverse crowd, but not for me.
Local Austin Dive bar. Love this place.
My first bar experience :) Sweet place.
An old old Austin bar. And that is saying alot cause Austin is losing gems left and right due to scraping. (because its an over hyped cool place to live)
One of my favorite ATX dive bar treasures. Cheap beer pitchers, good jukebox, interesting characters.
Great little dive bar friendly wait staff good prices decoration a bit dated but fits the location
This place is vintage Austin. Every time Im here Im transported back in time to when Austin was still the hidden gem of Texas. This is the authentic Austin bar experience.
Great hole-in-the-wall bar with cheap beer, a pool table, and friendly staff.
Cool local bar next to deep eddy. ITs cash only and serves beer and wine but I like it just fine.
Great local dive. Its the kinda bar you need to spend time at alone to get the full experience.
Great dive bar. Friendly staff.
Been coming here since I was knee-high to a grasshopper barely able to put my own britches on -- still struggling with that.
Amazing Dive Bar!! New Addition That Has An Awesome New Patio Café/Bar That Serves Burgers & Booze!!
Best hike in the wall bar in town. Retro Chicago style local dive bar.
The happy hour here is great! I will definitely be coming here more often.
Quaint dive bar with great service, parlor games and a patio. Despite changing ownership, hasnt lost its local/dive feel!
Very nice hang out. Vintage jukebox with great tunes and inexpensive beverages.
They have been serving great cheap beer with a smile in Austin for years!!
Very hip and trendy place. Very attractive crowd. Great drink prices.
Awesome neighborhood bar. Great people to hang, friendly bar staff
Good location, good drinks, good bartenders. Shout out to Zack and Josh.
Great dive bar, been there a long time. Friendly staff, friendly patrons.
The bartenders are amazing and will talk your ear off about any subject... but so many frat guys...
Best bar in Austin. It isnt fancy, but has the old Austin vine that is so hard to find now...
Authentic dive bar. Cheap beer, great jukebox and solid pool table.
Quaint yet intimate bar. The place to go if you want to have pleasant conversation and actually be heard.
Austins best dive bar. Dont expect much and youll never leave disappointed.
Grungy, loveable old dive that at last accepts credit cards and sells wine and liquor, in addition to draught beer.
Iconic dive bar, truly the coldest draft beer in town.
Very good bar to get a drink after work and talk with friends.
Clean bar and alot men play darts there..haha
Best dive bar in Austin, my go to when in town.
Just please dont let this place get torn down too. Thats all.

Nice Cozy Bar to enjoy friends with!

Bartender was moody but then again, that is expected at a dive bar
Great place. Just what we were looking for.
Cool experience, love the jukebox!
Theyre everything you could ask a dive bar to be!
Super nice and the food was great!
Great music on Saturday nights.
Great Watering Hole nice people.
Just the place to be when its 105° outside. Real folks too.
Overpriced drinks and an all male staff
Friendly staff, laid back atmosphere
Dont tell people how excellent this place is, or it will soon be ruined.

Cheap beer. Small dive bar.
Reminded me of my home dive bar.
