Thats the Rub Massage Therapy Center

When I called your establishment, my exact inquiry was, How much is a couples massage? To which the reply was, ...$110 for 60 minutes, but youd have to be in separate rooms. No biggie. What a fair price. So imagine my surprise when I checked out and it was $110 PER PERSON!!! My question was very clear but the answer was not. The massage was good, but not good enough to be 1.5 times that of Spaah and others locally available.On top of that, my partner and I were both spammed with promotional emails, texts, and reminders to leave reviews. It was too much. I even received junk mail in my mailbox from them, and to add insult to injury, the price on the card was lower than what we paid and were quoted ($105 vs $110).

Friendly staff, cleanly , great location, and amazing massage therapists! Best deep tissue massages ( best paired with the CBD oil add on) and just tried cupping for the first time ever. They focus on holistically healing your body rather than just giving you a “simple massage”. After even just one session, the tension and pain in my trouble areas have been drastically reduced. They also show you great stretches to maintain your body after your treatment ( to help with posture or any tightness). They also have a cute lounge for after your massage to sample organic herbal teas. 10/10 experience hands down.

This place is great! Conner and the other therapists care about healing your whole body. It’s not uncommon for a therapist to run over to finish working out a difficult spot, and they always pick up the next session with where you left off with the previous visit.We are lucky to have this gem in our community!

Worth every dime. The environment and staff are so chill. I’ve had massages a few times from here and always feel renewed. The staff ask what you desire from the massage, any areas you’d like worked on more and suit the massage to your activity level. They certainly deliver and I highly recommend them.

Dont look any further. This is the place you were looking for.I called later in the day, and I was able to book an appointment the same day without any problem or complaints.As I walked into this very aromatic place, I wonder where the massage place is? They have a very nice store where you can find a large variety of fragrances at a decent price.The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They listen to every single random thing I wanted to say. My visit didnt begin with the health care provider, but at the phone.Terence is a gifted health care provider. He paid close attention as I described the horrific experiences I had with prior places. I described to him how I had little trust that he could help me because others have failed and made me feel comfortable during the process. He walked me to a very comfortable room with the right lighting and perfect aromatic. He played music that my breathing was able to catch on during the entire hour of restorative work Terrance did. In the end, Terence provided me with a couple of exercises to follow up with my newly restored back.Now that I am back to work, I feel like I can take the world after the healing process that took place the day before.This was the first time I came to this facility, and I look forward to coming by every time I come to town. I dont have any other place to go but this one.

I very much enjoy the massages I’ve booked at That’s the Rub. I typically book a 60 minute massage with a student therapist, and it’s always such a great experience. They do wonderful & thorough work while also addressing your concerns and following your preferences.I recently booked a facial & eyebrow wax with Paige. Paige is amazing & so talented. She addressed all of my concerns & provided an incredibly relaxing service. I left feeling so refreshed & informed of how to care for my skin moving forward. I highly recommend any service with Paige, she was great!

Oh, sweet Jesus! I never knew a massage that wasnt deep could melt me like butter. This occurred right after I had a disaster of a roommate. Right before Christmas, too! In addition, they have other services, so go check them out!!

This was my first time at this location and I got Terrence he was soooo great. I went in bc I have a lot of pain from osteoarthritis in my neck that radiates to my lower back and whenever I left Im feeling great. Oh not to mention how well they listen to you and your needs. Also dont make u feel rushed,Would highly recommend 👌 👍 👏 🙌 😀

I started going here due to another place not keeping the same massage therapists. I have been dealing with a sharp pain from my neck down to my right shoulder for about 3 years now. I have tried all types of medications, all types of creams and nothing has genuinely helped. I liked the kind and peaceful aura this place had brought. I really like the booking online, to be able to search and look through each of the massages they have listed. I look forward to coming back :)

Absolutely the best. Im a triathlete and train year round. Kevin does the best performance massage I ever had. He works out the knots without causing additional discomfort. Hes now part of my regular schedule. Cant say enough about this place. A true gem. 💖

One of the Best experiences I’ve had. Had back spasm for 3, 4 days booked the therapy at last minute. They had to fit me in after hour. It was the best and most effective massage I’ve had. The spasm was gone almost right away. I had a golf outing the next day and was able to really enjoy the round. Rachel was fantastic!

Emily made me feel completely comfortable throughout & checked on me during to make sure it was okay. She fully explained what she was going to do prior and even did a recap afterward! As someone with anxiety, this completely made my experience and allowed me to feel fully relaxed.

I was so pleased with the ease of booking online, the kind staff, and the incredible massage at Thats the Rub. My massage was with Gabrielle and she made me feel so comfortable and really took the time to understand what tension issues Ive been having in order to personalize the service. She also has a wonderful sense of humor, which made me feel welcome. During her excellent massage, I relaxed so much that Im pretty sure I melded to the table and I think I live there now... Ive worked with a few different Thats The Rub therapists, starting well before COVID, and have nothing but positive words for them. Caring, individual, good communication and fantastic hands.Im not going to name my ESPECIALLY EXCELLENT therapist because shes already pretty well booked, but I can guarantee that whoever you see youll have a high quality experience.Oops, forgot to mention the heated tables that go up and down. Yup, you heard it here first. Heated. Mmmm.

Ive gotten a few massages here from Gabrielle and I LOVE it. The atmosphere as soon as you walk in is one of relaxation. The essential oils and products they have available make the whole place smell wonderful. Not to mention all the cool art and decor they have around as you walk back to the rooms! Everyone has been super professional and helpful every time Ive been here. They also are smart enough to give you a bathroom key before your appointment, and even have a little sitting room where they give you tea when you finish! Cant recommend this place enough. Will be going here for a long time.

For the past year, Ive been seeing Kevin at TTR for myofascial release massage for my chronic pain, and its been a huge help! He is professional, caring, and talented. Plus, the staff are lovely!

I occasionally visit Thats The Rub in general, and have always liked them. However, in October I got in a car accident and have had a lot of lower back pain, so I have been visiting more often. Emily S. has been my therapist and she is the BEST massage therapist I have ever had. She has made a wonderful difference in my massage experience and is very helpful for me in my recovery. Thats the Rub has great staff- kind, empathetic, and helpful- from front desk on. Lots of cool stuff in the shop too. 10/10 would recommend

The care began with the conversation about my situation(s). Then we began treatment and I hoped for the first step toward healing. What I go was so much more! I was fortunate that Danielle is such a talented professional. She was able to achieve fluid drainage on our first session!

Be prepared to have to give credit card information to confirm an appointment. Not old American way of business new age government type of business a mans word isnt good enough. Cash isnt 💸 the preferred payment anymore 😕Myself of being a successful business owner and operator of 23 years will not conform to this way of businessI appreciate the bold response from the owner. I agree with the owners response for the most part but I would be careful of referring customers to man or women because women will/hv done the same things you were pointing out. People give negative reviews much faster than positive reviews even if the review has no relevance to the business/service or product. I also provide a service not a product. But Im glad all business dont operate the same. So my question for you as the owner and US Veteran and first thanks for your service to the USA if I would hv been a Veteran would u hv done business differently?

Kate is added to the list of stellar therapists; they are all tension exorcists :).You cannot possibly go wrong here. Gabrielle, Rachel, Krystal and Holly have all done amazing therapeutic work on me and my husband. Frequent workouts leave us pretty battered at times, and the performance and deep tissue rubs will have you back in fighting shape. Their knowledge of anatomy is without equal.

Ive been here twice and both times have been exceptional. The staff are very courteous and helpful, the location is very clean and professional looking, and the ambiance is relaxing. The real key though is the therapists. Both the therapists I have seen (Gabrielle and Kayla) were exceptionally skilled at their craft both in terms of customer service and in terms of their massage therapy. Ive had hundreds of massages in my lifetime and my two times here are both hands down in my top 5 both in overall experience and the quality of the service.

Wonderful experience at Thats the Rub! Such friendly and welcoming staff, and a level of care and professionalism I had not yet experienced. I was impressed with the vision and attention to detail of my therapist and left quite satiated with a strategy for growth and a stomach filled with in-house poultry 🦃. Highly recommend!

Therapist Kate did a great job! I like going to different therapists at different times so Thats the Rub works well for me because its not the same therapist every time (unless I choose).The booking process is simple, the prices are reasonable and the intake process and the welcome on site are smooth and fantastic.

The staff was fantastic from start to finish. Gabrielle was wonderful. She was kind and thoughtful and put me at ease for my first session ever. Several hours later and I’m still positively buzzing. I would absolutely recommend their services.

Incredibly relaxing and comfortable experience. My masseuse Kate was very professional, experienced and so positive which made my deep tissue massage the best experience I could ask for. If youre on the fence about getting a massage just do it for yourself you wont regret it and youll feel amazing after!

My massage therapist Chris was fantastic! This was my second time visiting and I was not disappointed. I’ve been to other places in Bloomington that don’t come anywhere near you That’s the Rub. I will definitely be back! As a women, it’s easy to always choose a women therapist. You want to go in and relax, and not feel awkward. Chris was extremely professional, kind, and made me feel very relaxed. I could not find a single thing for this place to improve on!

Every therapist here is extremely professional and solidly good. Whomever you have, you will not be disappointed with for sure. I had Elise though and she is knowledgeable about the body mechanics. For me I needed a mix of deep tissue and she included physical therapy type moves as well. Afterwards she even recommended and demonstrated stretches for me to do. First class!

Was a bit nervous as a first timer but the staff, from reception to my therapist were so friendly and inviting I was indeed able to relax and enjoy myself. The room was comfortable, not too hot or cold, the table almost put me to sleep (its hard for me to fall asleep in public so thats something) and my therapist was perfection. She worked on places on my shoulders and neck I didnt even REALIZE hurt until she started. I look forward to booking my next visit and working out even more kinks in my shoulders and back. Highly recommend this great local business. And their shop smells great of course.

I love this place! I had a message the day before I delivered my daughter and it made my birthing experience amazing. I was relaxed and that feeling stayed with me through my delivery process. I had been in pain for weeks up to my delivery and this took a lot of the tension in my body away and let me finish the last hours of my pregnancy on a high note! I also bought a new and nursing mothers box that had several rubs, lotions, oils& bath salts in it. The brand was Farmaestetics. It was definitely calming through my postpartum and it was nice that it was all natural things I was putting onto my body. Lastly, the lady who gave me the message was also very kind!

Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. My appointment started on time and it was very relaxing. I booked a deep tissue massage and ended up getting something closer to a relaxation or gentle Swedish massage. It was still very relaxing and pleasant but the pressure just wasn’t there.

I love Thats the Rub!All of the staff is amazing and I love the atmosphere. The therapists take the time to talk to you about why you are there and what treatment you have had in the past to give you a truly customizable massage. Before and after the massage they offer you a wide selections of teas to relax you which I loved!I went to Thats The Rub after having an extremely stressful finals week and just needed to relax and get the tensions out of my shoulders. I had the most amazing massage that relieved all of the tensions in my neck and shoulders, along with alleviating the issues of my chronically bad back.I will definitely be going back soon!

I have been dealing with an old foot injury for years. After a session with Daniella I have been pain free for a week. Daniella is amazing! Great personality, fun to work with and clearly knows her craft. I have never had a disappointing experience in over 7 years of being a regular customer (from any of the therapists) of Thats The Rub and cant recommend them highly enough!

Ive had three massages here for specific problems and each time I feel the massage therapist has considered my issue and solved it each time. Kara in particular was especially knowledgeable about the trigger point that was causing me pain and was diligent in manipulating my muscles so I was pain-free. As an athlete I find it really valuable when someone can anticipate the issues Im having and preempt muscle tightness and lack of mobility. I cant recommend this place enough for their professional and knowledgeable massage therapists. Ill soon make an appointment for their waxing services as well because I trust them to vet their employees thoroughly.

Calming environment, professional, focused, effective. And I love the fact that they dont use scent in their work. Nothing fancy, just serious expertise. And Meg was amazing! Ive had massages from several different people at Thats the Rub, and they are all absolutely wonderful and expert. But Meg was special. Something about her technique really made a difference for me. I had an excellent experience, the staff was incredibly friendly and polite and my therapist was amazing. We got a bit of a late start, partially my fault and partially due to another client running long, but my therapist didnt skimp on time, gave me some great stretches, and had me laughing with stories about her dog. Needless to say, I scheduled another massage!

Thats the Rub was my first ever massage experience, and whenever I can afford it, I go back! The therapist was very personable and made my first massage very comfortable. She explained what exactly to expect, and was very receptive to my verbal and non-verbal cues. Very relaxed and calm atmosphere.

From the front staff and the convenient online scheduling to the Massage itself I experienced great customer focus. Chris was my therapist and provided a therapeutic massage. He focused exactly on the areas of concern and I felt immediate and lasting improvement. He is very well in tune with muscles and tensions and has great technique. I was in town for summer school and rewarded myself with a 60-minute deep tissue massage with Kara. By far, my experience was the best massage I ever had in my life. She did really interesting techniques, especially for my face and upper chest that Id never experienced before. If I had had more time in Bloomington, I wouldve been back in a heartbeat! Highly recommended.

I received a gift certificate for an hour long massage for Mothers Day. It took me a while to get around to scheduling my time, but I am SO glad that I did. The receptionist was very welcoming and kind, offering me water or tea before filling out two very short forms. My massage therapist, Rachel, then met me in the warm reception area where we discussed my goals, preferences and any injuries. The massage room itself was warm and cozy (even on the coldest day of the year so far!), with a heated table and comfortable sheets. The music was soothing and comforting, too. Rachels massage was bliss. An hour of melty, companionable, soothing bliss. Checking out was done automatically while I sipped my complimentary tea. Thanks to Rachel and Elizabeth, I will be asking for Thats The Rub certificates for any and ALL occasions and sharing them as well. I will DEFINITELY be back!

Im usually really picky about getting massages--as a teacher I think of everything in terms of an F to A scale, and in Bloomington most massages top out at a B-. Not always, though! Im happy to report that Ive finally found a massage therapist who is simply fantastic: simply put, Jess Kern gives an INCREDIBLE massage. And, she is simply wonderful people... I highly recommend!

Got a 90 minutes deep rub with Samantha Willoughby. I appreciated the questions she asked before the massage, her use of the breath to begin and end the session, and the discussion of areas of the body that could use some attention outside of the appointment. Would highly recommend!

My husband and I took a few days to get away for the week and wanted to spoil ourselves with a long massage. We were more than pleased to have found this establishment! We had Gabrielle and Lexie for our couple’s massage. If you are questioning any services at all, seriously, treat yourself! We left so relaxed that we were going to attempt to schedule massages the next day before we left, but we were unable to do so. We will definitely be back!

I’ve been using the services of the Rub for years, I HIGHLY recommend it over ANY business in Bloomington. Due to an injury, I need a massage every month or so to keep my pain at bay, I’ve tried them all....That’s the Rub is THE BEST!I use Beth when I need a standard therapeutic massage. She will listen to you and use her expertise to make you feel awesome!Kayla is fabulous if you want a Deep Massage. She can break up those knots that are causing aches from working on the computer all day.I recently visited Reno and paid triple for a massage....what a disappointment! They did not listen to what I asked for. Don’t think you will get a better massage by paying more or less elsewhere, you will end up coming to the Rub. Save my Money, visit the Rub, you won’t regret it!!!

Ive been here twice. Once for The Rub and once for a reflexology session. Both times the service has been excellent. I plan to try some of the other kinds of massage as time goes on. I do recommend the reflexology, it was very nice to have a consultation and an hour of work on my feet and hands!

My wife and I got a couples massage. The second we walked in the door, we were taken care of and made to feel welcome. Our massage girls Gabrielle and Jess were awesome magical goddesses with hearts of gold. As first time parents, we didnt realize how much stress we had in our shoulders and necks and hips from picking up and holding our baby. Plus, we really enjoyed the time away from our baby to just relax. I cant recommend this place highly enough.

Megan was amazing! I had a one-hour massage that helped alleviate neck and shoulder tension. She was very professional, polite, and precise with her pressure and techniques. Can’t wait for my next appointment!

I was experiencing some mommy burn out and this was the first massage I’d had in 4 years. Lexie took all my needs into consideration and then exceeded my expectations. She did stretches at the end which was the cherry on top. It’s obvious she takes her customers and her career very seriously which was much appreciated from this burnt out Mommy! TTR is great! They do exactly what you need; the therapist will take time to interview you to make sure that she knows exactly how massage can help you, and then makes it work. Its a wonderful, relaxing, and extremely helpful experience. Im a cyclist, and I dont think I ever felt as comfortable on my bike as I did the day after my first massage.

Had a couples massage rub for our wedding anniversary. Holly and Jackie were awesome and professional. My wife usually complains that massages arent hard enough and she didnt say that about Jackies. The massage I received from Holly was fantastic. I have a bad shoulder (pops in and out frequently) and it really hurt before the massage, but I didnt feel ANY pain in my shoulder afterward! I also have a wrist/thumb issue that felt better after the massage. This is the least amount of physical pain that I have been in for months!

I was very happy with my time with Kara. As a first-time visitor, I was thinking about an “intake” meeting, to discuss my issues and goals, and which of your members would be most appropriate. The questionnaire did some of that, but would have been more useful if I had been given it before hand (electronically even) and had had more time to fill it out. Even getting there early, I was very rushed. And asked to fill it out in a mostly dark room (they did notice and turn the lights up some).

This was my first visit to TTR, and it exceeded my expectations. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Especially important, since I was in for a therapeutic massage, was that the therapist took the time to sit with me and discuss my situation. She offered suggestions and choices that were very helpful. The massage itself was wonderful and helpful. I would definitely recommend TTR.

I had my first shiatsu massage with Rachel Knight and I loved it! It gave me the energy boost I was looking for. Rachel is my therapist and I highly recommend her for either massages or holistic facials. She is amazing!I had my first holistic facial with Rachel a few days ago and I loved this new soothing spa experience. The natural products used to exfoliate were very gentle on my sensitive skin but effective. My skin had a very nice glow after the treatment. Also, I loved the natural scent of the farmaesthetics products and the facial also included a relaxing massage on my face, neck, shoulders, and arms. It was the perfect experience to relax and get a mood boost during the winter months.Update: I had the best deep tissue massage today. Lisa is amazing!Also, I am addicted to the hot stone rub. Rachel does an outstanding work.I have tried three different massages (the La-la, the rub, and the therapeutic rub) in this center and I love them all. I only know two therapists and I recommend them both (they are good identifying the right pressure and areas that need more attention). I will keep going to this place whether I need back/neck pain relief or just to relax. I like the atmosphere of their massage rooms (relaxing music, lightening, decoration, etc) and their super comfortable and warm massage tables. They also sell Farmaesthetics products that I love, such as the deep lavender rub. Finally, they offer a discount to IU students ($10 OFF for 1hr massage).

I got a massage from a massage therapy student at that’s the rub. The student was proficient and I left feeling great. The atmosphere of that’s the rub is relaxing and beautiful. I also enjoyed the shop with a variety of soaps, lotions, and other items.

I had a great massage and cupping at Thats The Rub. Krystal listened to why I was there and the massage worked well. Then she was very knowledgeable at suggesting some stretches I could do afterwards to help. Overall its a great space and I highly recommend coming here.

We were in town for a relaxing weekend of classical music, dining, and massage! Thats a Rub gave the best massages either of us have ever head. Trained in Utah, the therapists were proficient on targeting health issues, and reducing stress. If I could afford it and if I lived in Bloomington, Id be a regular!

I had been suffering from neurological issues for 3 months with no definite diagnosis from doctors despite multiple tests. I was going through occupational therapy and physical therapy but was unable to walk without a cane, read, drive or work. I decided to try a craniosacral massage and found Thats The Rub. After one craniosacral massage, I was walking normally, able to read and have started driving again. ONE MASSAGE AND ALL OF MY SYMPTOMS WERE GONE. Thats The Rub staff are so professional and great to work with. I will be going back!

I had a 90 minute deep tissue massage by Gabrielle that really relieved a tight, angry knot in my shoulders and helped to loosen up a kinked neck. She asked just the right questions and applied the right amount of pressure to get the job done.

They were very welcoming, gentle and friendly! My massage was wonderful. Danielle is very soothing and communicative.

This was my first time to get any kind of a massage - I really loved it! the ambiance of the place was really relaxing and conducive to calming and stress relieving! Definitely a must place to visit!
