Ocean Massage

This will be a long review so I will leave the most important part here: I repeated the words “Please leave the room so I can put my clothes back on” 12 separate times and the therapist still did not listen and refused to leave the room.I have been to this location before and have always been very happy, but today was one of the worst experiences I have had with any business. Before beginning, the therapist asked if I wanted a full body massage. I told her no, just upper body please focusing on my shoulders and neck. She said “no, full body” and gestured to my legs. Again, I explained that I only wanted upper body because my neck has been in extreme pain. She continued to argue with me saying I needed my legs done as well until I agreed.I usually love a deep pressure massage, but once the massage began, I could tell that my neck and shoulders weren’t up for that today. I asked her to please do less pressure but she did not. I was honestly fighting tears because I was in such bad pain, especially since she was digging into my bone half the time, not my muscle. After asking a few more times and being ignored, I asked her to please stop the massage. She again argued with me trying to explain that the tighter a muscle is, the harder she has to do it. I told her that I was afraid the massage would only make things worse, and I wanted to end the massage and leave. She would not listen. She continued to argue with me after I kept saying I want to stop and to leave. This is absolutely not okay. If a client asks for the session to end, it needs to end. No matter what kind of service or appointment it is.After asking multiple times for it to end and being argued with, I began to say “please leave the room so I can put my clothes back on”. She kept saying “I’ll do it softer” “no, no it’s okay” and still would not leave. I felt so uncomfortable and vulnerable and could not believe that she was not listening to me. Even after I became shaky and teared up, asking over and over again for her to please just let me get dressed and leave she would not leave the room. I was so shocked that I was mentally keeping a tally of how many times I asked her to leave the room, it was 12 times. 12 times I said “Please leave the room so I can put my clothes back on”. I shouldn’t have even had to ask for that once after I had already asked for the session to end. Finally I got up off of the table, trying to cover myself with the sheet that had been covering me, and walked over to my clothes. I opened the door, pointed out into the hall, and continued asking her to leave until she finally did.This is not a miscommunication or language barrier of any kind. Those are not words that a massage therapist should not understand. They were purposefully ignored. After reading a few of the other reviews I am not at all surprised.

I was hesitant about leaving this review because I know they’re just trying to make it in a competitive business. However, I feel compelled to share my experience.I appreciate that they allowed the same day appointment, however, when I showed up, I was told the therapist was currently on her way, but it would be about 15 minutes. I actually waited 35 minutes for her to show. The store also smelled heavily of cigarette smoke. Not really relaxing…The therapist arrived, and was friendly enough, but left the door wide open as she began. The massage room literally faces the entrance of the store.I woke up this morning with three bruises on my back from this “massage”. I use this term loosely because it was more like 90 minutes of an elderly woman using her elbow nearly the entire time.Unfortunately, I will not be returning. I give the store two stars because they were friendly, but, there is a lot left to be desired.

This place was mediocre at the most. At the end of all the horrid service I had to take a Xanax. My masseuse was belching on my back the entire time. My husband *a small and frail human* was getting crawled on by his masseuse which in turn made him get a tummy ache, and it lasted MANY hours. Though out the massage the woman was leaving to tend the front desk, and kept worsening my husbands mood which made his tummy ache WORSE. All around an awful experience. But it was a good atmosphere *only thing going for it*

Me and my husband got a couples massage. It was a great experience. The ladies were very professional and knew what they were doing. It was so relaxing we loved it. Definitely will be returning again. Very nice and clean as well.

I bought the 2 hour couples massage with the 20 minutes of attention paid to the feet. My sister and I went together. This place was very tidy, clean, and huge! The room was warm enough with no drafts which I really appreciated. The staff was really nice and attentive! I had not had any Asian-style massages before this, so it was really interesting to experience some differing techniques. I am 48 years old with a lot of shoulder tightness, wonky hips, and a foot recovering from plantar fasciitis...and my guy really found all my problem spots and worked them over! They used nice oils, and hot stones (but not tooo hot!) to good effect. The only thing that kinda got me after awhile was that the bulk of the massage was done facedown, my sinuses did get kinda clogged up and I did need to take my face up for air after awhile. Today I feel really good, really loose, and refreshed. I would definitely go back again!

I rarely leave reviews, but I am compelled to share my experience so you dont have to go through what I did. I left my massage at Ocean Massage in Boise feeling vulnerable, violated, disoriented, and just plain gross. I was scheduled for an 80-minute combo massage (1 hour massage + 20 minute foot reflexology). The first half of the massage seemed fairly standard practice, but as it progressed there were a few VERY CONCERNING ISSUES that I will mention:1. The massage therapist DID NOT MAINTAIN PROFESSIONAL BOUNDARIES in terms of where he massaged, namely around my hips, glutes, and hamstrings. He crossed the line of where it is appropriate to massage! It was too personal on more than one occasion during the massage.2. He repeatedly bumped into me inappropriately with his body. At first I questioned if it was accidental, but it happened repeatedly, to the point that I needed to shift my foot over so it would no longer touch him.3. At times, I did not feel properly covered by the sheet. There were stretches of time when part of my body was uncovered, even though he was not working on that part. At one point, I was nearly completely uncovered for no apparent reason!During the massage, I felt anxious and unsure if he knew what he was doing. Some of it seemed normal, but some of it was definitely not. I have had many massages in my adult life, giving me a pretty strong reference point of what is normal, and I have never felt as anxious and unsafe, even fearful, as I did during this massage at Ocean Massage.Other things to note and mild complaints - I was shown to my room with no introduction to the person giving my massage. I was asked to pay up front, which seemed odd, but not that big of a deal, except that I didnt have cash so I was required to include a tip before I had the massage. As others have mentioned, the massage therapist left the room several times during my massage, leaving me exposed and vulnerable in the room. Lastly, the massage table was quite uncomfortable to lie on. It is a table typical to foot reflexology spas, but not well-suited for a traditional Swedish or deep tissue massage.This was my experience: UNSAFE. UNSETTLING. UNPROFESSIONAL. YUCK. At best, the practitioner is careless and unaware of what the physical and professional boundaries are...At worst, he is deliberately taking advantage of his clients! Either way, he did not uphold a basic standard of professionalism and client trust. THIS IS NOT OK. I would not send anyone here.

The massage was great, a little pricey for one hour. When I left, the person at the desk motioned for me to come close, when I did she pointed to the sign that says they appreciate gratutities. I left the tip as she requested but I don’t think I’ll be back.

It was very easy to set-up a reservation at Ocean! My husband and I got a massage for his birthday and we both came out feeling very relaxed! Even though we didn’t have a couple’s massage, we were in the same room, so it felt like it. The hot stones were amazing!

One of the best massages Ive ever had. I purchased the 90 minute massage and not only did I get my full 90 minutes worth, she even added hot stones and a facial massage as an added bonus. I cannot say enough about how great of a job she did and how well run this establishment is.

This place was great! I came in as walk in and was seen right away for a 30 min massage with oil. It was the perfect balance of the painful process of going after my tough knots, as well as relaxing massage. She checking in with me many times to ensure the pressure and placement was good. I was even pleasantly surprised when she used hot rocks! Its now the day after and I feel amazing :)

Lady left multiple times for at least 5 mins each time during my 60 min massage . Had a random guy walk in to my room since the Massage room is right by the front door, with a see through curtain that she closes and leaves the actual door open. I was uncomfortable The whole time. The massage was ok, I cut it short due to the man walking in while I was practically naked on the massage table. Will not be back.

Lisa was excellent at massage and very professional! She knew the exact spot in my neck I was having pain and was able to get my neck and shoulder muscles to relax after 8 days of severe pain. It was a great massage. I’m a f (19 yrs old) but after the massage the a lady seem very rude and when she ask for tips I gave her and she just took it out of my hand and seemed mad af. It made me uncomfortable to know that she was the one who gave me my massage in the first place. It was a disappointment

I’m not typically one to write reviews unless it’s a spectacular experience that I am reviewing. I like to stay positive and don’t want to damage a company’s reputation based on my opinion alone. This experience however should be shared.I got a massage here a few months ago and it was fantastic! Really good. Relaxing and the lady understood the way a body works.I went back on Friday and had the opposite experience. I was cringing the whole time. She was fast, loose and Willy-nilly. She was pushing on things that shouldn’t be pushed on and was not taking the time to understand my body-needs; or my basic anatomy. It was uncomfortable and I’m still sore. She seemed rushed and unfocused and potentially unexperienced. Dangerous.So one good massage. One bad. Very bad. Didn’t get names unfortunately. They didn’t offer I didn’t ask. Ill try another spot.

Honestly the best massage Ive ever had. The masseuse alleviated pain that I didnt even know was there. My energy levels rose immediately following the massage. I only wish all of my previous experiences at other establishments were this quality.

Booked a couples massage for my mom and her husband on Saturday 6/13 the appointment was suppose to be at 1200 but the masseuse didn’t arrive until 12:15. The masseuse that was with my mom kept walking out of the room to greet customers in the front. She left 2-3 times, was gone for about 5 minutes every time. Besides this, my mom really liked the massage. They used hot stones and oil. I would give 5 stars if it weren’t for the person constantly leaving the room. I paid for the full 60 mins massage.

I went to this place couple of times and always left very satisfied with the service and the massage, even my wife went there a few times. This last time wasn’t the case. the young lady was very soft, even me facing down, I knew she wasn’t focusing on the massage and spending too much time, with one hand on the same spot. Then again, well she was texting the entire time over my back and neglecting my session. Never again!

Very friendly and superb massage. Very professional the deep tissue is great and she gets very deep. Well worth the time. May did an excellent massage today. She is a very nice and beautiful lady.

Do not waste your time or your hard earned money with a Robotic massage!!!!!!!!!! It was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever experienced. In addition, this business stinks like incense & the room I was in had a camera on ceiling looking down at the bed you lay on. Not cool!

Simply magnificent! my husband and I came for a couples massage! It is our first time in a massage center and I honestly cannot be so thankful for choosing this place !!! Without a doubt, the treatment is wonderful, the staff is friendly and every minute in there is worth it! I will certainly recommend it a thousand times to all my friends!

If you’re in pain or just need relaxation this is a great place to go. I’m also a licensed massage therapist and when I have a tough week this is where I go for therapy. I’ve gone there twice and gotten two different people.Each therapist had their own technique one was deep because I was having them in and tingling in my hands. And the other one was just for relaxation and it was wonderful.

Great massage especially the feet! We called for an appointment and we were able to get in in 45min. We showed up early and they let us sit in the sauna for free while we waited. Good exp. Thanks!

Went in without and appointment not knowing what to expect, and I left so relaxed and satisfied I’m not sure if I should have driven after! The woman who gave me my massage was so polite and good at what she does, I’m definitely going to go back, the price is incredible and so is the massage!
