We have visited Rainbow Hearth 3 times since 2022 and we will be coming back as often as we can. Mariah is amazing and provides the space and to rest, relax and unwind from busy schedules. We highly recommend a massage and staying at least three days to really absorb the full benefits of being nourished and rested. I am gluten free and non dairy and I have not had any issues with the food Mariah prepares because she personally takes an individual interest in each guest’s needs. It is such a comfort to know that I can eat and NOT have any digestive issues while I rest. Another plus is we are able to bring our dogs instead of having to board them or find pet care. Our dogs are very well behaved and they are a joy to have with us. I would recommend finding other plans for your pups if they are lively or not well trained because this is a place for rest and not dog training. The other guests will thank you for keeping this a peaceful location as it is intended to be. We also got to snuggle with Mariah’s sweet pup Bella, who is just a lovely little soul that just adds to the charm of Rainbow Hearth.
I have been coming to Rainbow Hearth since 2006 when I came for a solo stressed to the max retreat. My stay was about a week long and I received excellent care and service and fell in love with the place and the owners. We come here every year for our anniversary and I tell all my clients about this place especially when they need a get a way for some peace and relaxation. Thank you Mariah for crating this place and for all your love over the years! I cant believe that I havent written you a review in all these years. You know that we love you and we will see you in a few months again! Big hugs, Dr. Jackie
Very quiet and Serene surrounded by beautiful trees in Lush Forest overlooking beautiful Lake Buchanan. Great spot for honeymoon couples or anybody that likes to get away and enjoy peaceful restful quiet time.
This place is magical, beautiful, special! I loved staying there. It helped me recharge and find hope. I received two massages from Mariah (who is absolutely delightful, and so knowledgable). The food was delicious and helped me feel full and healthy. This place is great to go with your friends, your spouse, and even by yourself! You will not regret it. Thank you Mariah for being so gracious and kind to me.
Enjoyed my stay with Mariah. If youre looking to get away and escape this is the place. Beautiful lake views and hiking. If you dont plan on eating there, the closest place to get food is about 20 mins away and is cash only. It was a great escape from life and the view in the sunset guest house was beautiful! Id love to go back with my husband!
Best couples retreat place ever. My wife and I had the most relaxing time. Great food, great host, beautiful scenery. If you are wanting to de-stress, enjoy nature, and get the best massage of your life, then look no further. Mariah is a real treasure and she has created the best atmosphere you can imagine. Bella (photo) is one of the sweetest dogs ever and loved going on hikes with us. Also, Medicine Rock (photo) is a very special place. This was the first of many trips for us to this enchanted sanctuary.
If you’re looking to kick back relax and get away from the hustle and bustle, This is the place to go. So peaceful and quiet. We hiked a little, sat by the lake and we had some delicious meals! Mariah is an awesome cook and her place is spectacular. Best girls trip we’ve had!!!!
Family gathering for the weekend was very satisfying. We were well prepared for the experience as the website and communications were well designed and delivered. I have had the privilege of visiting several B&B over the past few years and I believe our visit with Rainbow Hearth was the most exceptional. The facility location and design will provide opportunity to exercise muscles you may not have even realized you pocess. This is as close to a Natural retreat as I have ever experienced without backwoods camping. Meals served were very tasty, I recommend you try the omelet for breakfast. Our group included a limited mobility guest and Mariah was exceptionably accommodating. We always enjoy the ability to vacation with our four legged family members, not always easy to find a location that will allow this so thank you so much Mariah! Massage was requested for one of the family members who found the experience satisfying as well as enlightening as Mariah located knots of pressure before unknown.Tips for visitors:1. This is a Sanctuary & Retreat - Entertainment can be very easily located; we enjoyed many hikes and the views are spectacular. We played games for hours in the dining room. We did not miss the televisions. If you wish to exercise your own mental capacity and simply relax, visit Rainbow Hearth. The architecture of the facility and library can also provide mental exercise, a great variety. If you wish to be pampered, I would suggest locating resort that specializes in this activity.2. There is refrigeration available for those with medical needs, limited space. A simple discussion with Mariah will provide solutions. We brought our own coolers as well.3. I shared the meal plan with our guest prior to our stay, if you have picky eaters you may need to find other sources. I can say with all our picky eaters, no one was left hungry after a meal. Meals were well prepared, quite tasty and I had no doubts that we were fed Healthy meals.4. After reading a couple of the negative reviews I want to add something here. I found Mariah to be an intelligent, no nonsense hostess. I felt that she was pleasant to converse with and active listening to be a key skill to exercise. My experience is that she will help you find solutions to your Needs for the stay if properly presented.Rooms were very clean, orderly and provided for all our needs. Beds were Sleep Number and therefore adjustable to most sleeper requirements.
Loved every minute of my stay here. It is a place to truly lose track of time, relax and listen to your heart. The only items on the schedule are mealtimes and bodywork sessions (worth every penny). There are no alarm clocks or TVs here. You can sleep in late, nap all day, relax in a private hot tub, read books from the Rainbow Hearth library, sit by the lake, walk around in your pajamas 24/7... its like being home, but way better!Mariah cares for her guests like family. Meals are completely homemade with the freshest, high-quality ingredients and infused with love. There are always snacks available if you get hungry. The purified rain drinking water is the best Ive ever tasted. If you are looking for a few days away to rest & recharge your mind-body-spirit, this is the place.Update: I have now been back to stay at Rainbow Hearth 6 times and it is consistently wonderful each visit.
This is a wonderful relaxing and rejuvenating place to stay. I stayed with a friend in Sky Loft and we also have stayed in the Garden Cottage on a previous occasion. The food prepared by Mariah, the owner is fresh and delicious. Everyone loves the freshly-grown sprout salads. My friend and I both scheduled massages which were fabulous, and we took advantage of the hot tub both evenings! Some of the rooms at Rainbow Hearth are also dog-friendly, and my dog, Fred, also had a fun time. He loved being able to sniff around off-leash down near the lake and on the trail at the top of the ridge. We cant wait to go back!!
The property is scenic and gorgeous. So serene. This is a great place to relax restore and recharge. Thanks Mariah! We really enjoyed the stay.
FABULOUS place! Would HIGHLY recommend! Much love and care went into the creation of this wonderful space. My room was beautiful! The use of natural light and view out of my windows was spectacular. Even the bed sheets were picked with care as they were extremely soft. The meals were delicious and organic. The atmosphere for dinner was great as the tables were set, the lights were lowered, soft music played and a candle was on each table. No clocks or TVs anywhere. A hot tub was available for private use as well. Cant wait to visit again and stay longer! Thanks Mariah! For specifics check out her site.
I had my second stay at Rainbow Heart in April 2019. It was a week of great healthy food, peace and quiet. This a lovely place out of the mainstream of traffic and noise. Each meal was like having your own private chef. The Sunset room is my favorite, even though all the room are excellent. I like that you are left alone during your stay without the staff having to enter your room. However, if there is something you need in your room they will immediately take care of it. I will be returning again in April of 2020 for my 3rd one week stay. Staying here is a total refreshment of mind, body and soul.
This place is a gem in the Hill Country! Highly recommend to anyone looking to getaway and fully recharge. Rainbow is for stepping out of the stresses of everyday life and entering into a healing space that is quiet and allows for connection to Nature, yourself and/or a partner or friend(s). I’ve been in all 5 rooms. There are no TVs, just beautiful views from the decks of each cottage or suite. I Love the fact that there are limited suites as it creates a much more intimate experience. I like that I can connect w other guests if I choose or I can be secluded if I desire time for contemplation and reflection. There are shaded hiking trails, free growing vegetation and fruit trees bearing fruit in Spring! A true homage to re-wilding that is so rare to see these days. Beautiful views of Lake Buchanan can be seen from the top of Medicine Rock. A magical space for sure. The rooms are clean, comfortable and the food is healthy and delicious. It’s also pet friendly, so that is a huge bonus!
Stayed here in June 2016 and absolutely loved it. 3 days of getting great nature photographs, hikes, and 3 days of wonderful organic foods prepared by the owner, who was very gracious. The beds are sleep number beds so I slept great. The dining room looks over the lake and the view in the mornings and evenings are gorgeous. I came back from there completely relaxed. This is truly a sanctuary and retreat center, a place to heal.
This place is AMAZING! The drive in was beautiful, but we were admittedly a bit nervous about what to expect from something so far from life. When we arrived and found our way to check in, our fears were all relieved. Everything was clean, updated, and refreshing! The owner showed us around the property and took us to our room. The view from our room was awesome, and the massage was heavenly! Everything is private, except the family style meals, which were ALL to die for! Everything was fresh, organic, and a lot she grew in her own garden. This is definitely the place to go if youre looking to disappear for a weekend and have amazing healthy meals. There are so many other great things to say about this place. It is definitely a place you should visit at least once!
My visit at The Rainbow Hearth Sanctuary was simply magical. Starting with the smiling and welcoming face of the owner Mariah, through all the vibrant rainbow colors of the home like facilities, organic salads and delicious fish & soups cooked fresh everyday, expert massages with surprisingly incredible power tools! Mariah is jack of all trades❤️❤️❤️ Life changing experiences. Invigorating energy surrounds the land the sanctuary is built on. Can not wait to go back in May and hug Mariah and her doggie Sunny! THANK YOU. Pavlina and JonasPhoto
We just returned from our 2 night stay, celebrating our 9 year anniversary. I am SO glad that we went to Rainbow Hearth. This is just what we needed to reconnect, relax, and enjoy serenity. Rainbow Hearth is located on about 10 acres on a large hill with waterfront to the lake. You can walk around on trails, take in scenic views, relax our on your deck, enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.Mariah cooked very tasty meals with very high quality organic ingredients, and some homegrown greens from her own garden. It is really difficult to find a hotel or retreat experience that actually uses the same type of food that we do in our own house. My wife and I each had bodywork sessions with Mariah, and they were exceptional. She is a truly gifted healer, with a wealth of knowledge about qigong, energy, pain points, and various physiological challenges. If you want to come and just be, recharge, be taken care of, this is the place. We will be returning again!
The sheer serenity and calm relaxing environment of Rainbow Hearth Sanctuary is cannot be better. And, the healing therapeutic techniques used by Mariah Wentworth, during Bodywork are unsurpassed. They also serve delicious food which is good for you. I could not have asked for a better experience! Its a great place for a romantic getaway, time alone for yourself or to take your family and do some hiking, sightseeing, boating, or just sitting and taking in the beautiful sights from the top of Medicine Rock Mountain which is on the grounds at the highest point with panoramic views of Lake Buchanan.
On a whim we decided to find a weekend getaway spot on a lake. We decided to try Rainbow Hearth Sanctuary, and after checking in and receiving a warm welcome and tour from Victoria, we realized we hit the jackpot :)The space was clean, cozy, and relaxing, the dinner and breakfast were superb. We will definitely be back when we need a lakeside respite from the city.
Although the rooms were inviting, the host was not. The host of a bed and breakfast should be warm and welcoming. This was not the case. When we requested wine glasses, we were given plastic ones because the host stated, to make sure they are not broken. In addition, the room did not smell fresh and the toilet paper was of the cheapest quality. I would highly recommend skipping this particular B&B, and consider one where the host actually appreciates customers.
Stay far away from this place I came here alone with my small dog for my 30th bday thinking it would be relaxing and a great rewenal. BOY WAS I DEAD WRONG! The night I got in it was my 30th bday(which my fiance was sure to make the women that owns this place Mariah aware) no happy birthday thank you for coming, nothing. Mariah forgot my name throughout the time there and kept calling me different names, she was so unfriendly and rude. There were many points where she just made me feel uncomfortable. I am pretty easy going and I got a bad vibe, she was also very judgemental. Before my massage I opened up about some personal things and she made really abraisive, hurtful comments.Food wise:The meals were non-existant so bring your own food. If you have a thing about locking your doors you cant here, the rooms dont lock. I was suppose to stay 3 days... I left after one night into the next morning and I couldnt wait to get out of here. My fiance paid a pretty penny for the lodging and to have a birthday massage and she takes a car buffer and massages me with that, what a joke. But arranges to have this women come in that gives excellent maggages to her another another gust/friend.Which was total BS!!! This women is also nutty you cant tell shes been through some things in life.shes rude to the males at breakfast, I thought I was a bit of a feminist, this women is extreame(even talking about men it was all negative stories). Also, one morning I was sitting for breakfast waiting with a few other people ....she likes to come in and make breakfast, so she starts setting up breakfast buffet style sort of just putting out bagles, cereal, and yougurt so I went to help her.Aparetly this was a big no no and she got so offended and said im doing it myself.....these 2 regulars/friends she offers breakfast to, but doesnt offer me any breakfast. I got so hungry to the point where I had to sneak and eat yougurt later when no one was in the kitchen. Talk about walking on egg shells. This place looks cute in the pictures online but once you get here its not the nicest(hole in the wallish) tons of spiders and bugs even in the rooms, everything is old and run down. Her hot tub skeved me out it was rusy and dirty..I sat in there and looked around and instanly got out. Myabe im a little too posh for a place, but I also do have a youga loving, hiking, adventure and relax side thats why I chose this place.... I was honestly looking to unwind and relax and I feel like this place was the total opposite. Save your money there are way better opptions for less money with better hospitality, customer service and views of the lake.
Cute and quaint. Bring your own food (Takeout, no kitchenette or cooking tools available) and plan your entertainment ahead of time. Unless you are newlyweds you will struggle to find things to do in this neck of the woods. Dont plan on eating here, its not what you are looking for.
We visited Rainbow Hearth Sanctuary for our 5th anniversary in mid-October. We stayed in the oh-so-fun tree house yurt. Thats right a tree house yurt! Technically its a deck built up into the trees with the yurt on the deck and a separate bathroom with a walk in 2 person soaker tub and a skylight to the stars. We loved the accommodations obviously. My 67 husband fit no problem in the yurt, only had to duck his head to get in the door. The food was awesome, all cooked by the awesome Mariah- also the owner. We did not originally plan to meet all of our meals there, but it was so good, there was no reason to leave. Food is served family style, everyone eats the same thing, just let Mariah know if you cant have anything- the sprout salad is fabulous. The bodywork by both Mariah and Brenda was awesome, I felt safe and relaxed and they didnt feel the need to beat me up to loosen my muscles. Instead of the normal pain you feel after a massage when you were tense or tight, we actually came out feeling almost lightheaded we were so relaxed. Aaaand the next day no pain! This super cute place only has a few rooms so you know you are getting great attention while you are there. It is right on the mouth of the Colorado River, you can walk/hike down to the river. The water is way down, so its not very deep anywhere right now and there is a bit more of a hike to get to the water than it is to get to the boathouse.Coming to visit here was like coming to visit family, it was very welcoming, relaxing and just what we needed to get away from it all. This was our 1st trip away from our 1.5 year old, and we were happy and relaxed enough that we could not stress. This place is out in the middle of nowhere essentially, if you come here be prepared to relax and enjoy nature, you really will leave it all behind here. We loved it and hope to return sometime.
I travel afar to find delightful places and who knew that a few hours away was this retreat. I don’t know if I just get beamed up to middle Earth or landed in the magical kingdom. In any event it is sublime here where I feel transported to somewhere transcendent, a sort of Santa Fe meets Big Sur atmosphere of Nature and nurture, with stupendous views and walking paths marked with multiple stops each with its own vantage point and seating. Everything is selected for comfort and soul nourishment, even the food, especially the unique salads that I won’t forget even if I can’t replicate. My problems seem to disappear upon arrival and my perspective changed. Not to be missed is the privilege of a massage from the owner Mariah, a wise woman and healer whose magic keeps this place moored, and I think that massage was the final thing that really delivered me to heaven. I have felt rejuvenated and restored from it like no other. This place really is a retreat for the soul! Those looking to party hearty need not apply. But I believe I will return to this place again and again —which in my mind now I will remember as the ‘Over the Rainbow ‘ Hearth Sanctuary and Retreat.
I recently attended a retreat at Rainbow Hearth, and it was a transformative experience. Mariah, the founder, exudes a nurturing and safe energy, making her feel like a grandmother figure. Her genuine care and wisdom were instrumental in my healing process.I arrived feeling burnt out and disconnected from my higher purpose, but the serene and peaceful grounds of Rainbow Hearth provided the perfect environment for rejuvenation. The nourishing meals were a highlight, supporting both physical and spiritual well-being.By the end of my stay, I felt hopeful for the future and more connected to myself and my higher power. Rainbow Hearth is a sanctuary of healing and reflection, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking renewal and growth.
For three days I got to leave the stress behind and just BE. Mariah made sure everything was just what I needed. The silence, the woods, the healthy food, and nothing at all needing me to do it! I fell in love with Mariahs lap dog, Bella, and had a few very illuminating conversations with gems of wisdom from Mariah. Thank you!
I love this place! 26 acres of woodsy land, access to Lake Buchanan, no televisions, organic food, home-grown sprouts and handmade chocolate! Great massages! Also they have a huge hot tub!
Perfect and relaxing weekend get-a-way! Food was great. The cottage that we stayed in was cozy and the sleep number bed was amazing. Thank you Mariah!
We love this place...a fantastic getawaymariah is a wonderful host... she is the chef, masseuse, etc...she cooks using fresh veggies from her garden and everything is very healthy..wondeful view of lake buchannonbe sure to check out the healing rock
One of my favorite places to unplug and unwind. Mariah is a true gem.
A wonderful place that manifests magic in many ways, Sunny, medicine rock, gars, lake, food, rain water, bath...a hidden gem in hill country!
Best bed and breakfast Ive been in and to top it off I got a full body massage
My wife are loving the place. Its nice and peaceful.
I love Rainbow. Beautiful retreat. Beautiful surroundings! Excellent service.
Very restful spot to forget about the city and enjoy nature. Small and personal B&B.
A beautiful place for each person to renew their sense of peace and rejuvenation.
Beautiful place to relax and replenish. We come here often.
From the food to the view to the bed or is all magical
Beautiful, well kept, great service!
