The real fun happens after dinner, when they remove the center tables and everyone dances!!! That was epic!!! The food was delicious as well!! Service was… understaffed I would say. No one seemed to know what was going on and drinks and bottle service was taking forever!!! We almost got kicked out because the security guy didn’t know we had an agreement to purchase mixed drinks instead of a bottle. He was rude but I honestly think they had no time to communicate between them because it was packed!!! Either way it was a great night!!!!
Hosted a Holiday Party for 60 people here today and everything was fabulous. The Event Manager Erin is attentive and worked hard to make it work with our budget and she did not let us down. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was a vibe and the staff made everything super easy. Great place for a private event, I can only imagine how great it would be to stop in for dinner and drinks with friends. Thanks for everything!!
Great menu and delicious execution. Host and servers were wonderful, seated us on a busy night without reservations. The duck appetizer dish was one of the best things I have eaten in a long time. And the black sauce with the fries, so good. They made a random mocktail for me that was citrusy and amazing that Im sure had a lot of muddling that went into its preparation. It hit the spot
Who knew you could be so close to a place that offers great drinks, food, and atmosphere. I loved their virtual tour so I can see the aesthetic of the place and where I would like to be seated. I really enjoyed being able to see the menu and noticing that they offer vegan options. The drinks look like they’re made with love as well as the food.
Not what it used to be.Had our wedding rehearsal dinner there 8 years ago and we loved it then. Recently moved back to Chicago and havent been back until now. There are so many other choices, especially in Fulton Market / West Loop, that I think FMK gets overlooked. We were there at 7pm on a weekend and the place was empty. Literally empty. We were the only guests there for the first 30 min.The menu is VERY small. The wings were good. Not too spicy. The smash burgers were ok. Nothing to write home about. The short rib was also what should be expected. The potatoes that came with it were very tasty. My mother got the cacio e pepe, and it was also OK.Overall it was kind of expensive, for a VERY small menu and nothing spectacular. They need to find something different to bring people in considering their location
If youre looking for a distinctive, memorable, and enchanting evening experience, look no further! From the minute you walk in, youre hit with a mix of sophistication, opulence, and seductive comfort. The drinks are second-to-none (Violet Spell is a must-try) and reasonably priced for their craftsmanship. Dont be put off by the smaller menu. Better to stick the landing on every part of a smaller offering than put forward a sprawling menu with maybe a handful of things worth ordering. Whether you get the Red Wine Braised Short Rib or Charred Octopus, youre in for a real treat. If you can, check out their special events, too. The blindfolded dining experience seems weird at first, but its more than worth it. Not seeing, it seems, is believing.
We chose this place for our rehearsal reception with the understanding that 10-12 heavy apps would equal a meal for our guests. What a mistake! The bites were very small, came out in limited amounts and not fast enough. Many of my guests didn’t even see 3 or 4 of the ones that were the most filling. And the three I got did not have a good taste. The event planner, Fernando, didn’t call me before the event to confirm choices, timeline, final plans, etc. and he did not greet me or introduce himself at all. They did a nice job of putting out my decor and cutting my dessert but other than that it was a major fail. I would not recommend.
Great place! Been there ones, ordered miscal margarita at the bar. 20 minutes later bar became very busy. Many people goes there. I asked a table for one, and ordered one more margarita and duck duck sandwich. Sandwich was delicious, but because of many people at the bar margarita was delaying. Then manager CAME TO MY TABLE with apologies and said that because of the delay my order is free. This made me feel good 😊Those people really care about their costumers!
The food is a bit average, is not bad, but there isnt any outstanding dish that I particularly enjoyed or that I would come back for. The atmosphere is annoying with the very loud music with the DJ. I love music, but I want to be able to talk to my group in my table without having to literally shout at each other. There are so many better options for dinner in this neighborhood that I would recommend to check out before coming to FMK.
I came here for happy hour on a Thursday and I don’t understand how this place is not busier. Happy hour is 4-6pm and I arrived at 4:45pm and sat at the bar. The service from the bartenders was friendly and very helpful. I ordered the meatball and the cacio e pepe. Both were delicious and plenty of food for a happy hour serving. The gimlet was delicious. Definitely one of the best happy hours in Chicago right now.
I had a great time, definitely gotta make sure to bring closed toed shoes since it gets crowded fast. I would eat before I would go but the drinks keep coming so. Honestly all you gotta do is look cute and buy one drink then the rest is history.
My boyfriend and I went there. I put a note on the table before the blindfold experience not spicy food. The food was so spicy even though I told them multiple times. I had to ask them to change the appetizer for me twice - both times were spicy! The meat on the main course was dry and the dessert was 2 out of 10.Honestly, the dining area is nice but the price for what you get there is not worth it!! Youd rather eat somewhere that you know youll enjoy the food at least!
Terrible experience last night. Music was great. However, we reserved a bottle and table for the night and upon getting there the restaurant claimed they were out of the tequila bottle they were supposedly promoting… no replacement tequila bottle was made. Our only option was a bottle of champagne… there was no communication about this prior to getting there. Huge inconvenience.
I have to admit the service I received from FMK was phenomenal! I’ve never been more impressed! The entire layout in scenery was just beautiful and I loved the vibrancy given in its atmosphere!! Before I forget to mention let me say how YUMMY the dishes they prepare are!! If you’re like me and always go for the basic meal, then I would highly recommend to get the steak, (sooo juicy and thick) mashed potatoes, and watermelon tomato feta salad!!! You just can’t go wrong with any of those!!! Definitely give this restaurant and the crew behind it all, a BIG thumbs up!!! I love this place
Stopped in after work one evening. The vibe was great, food was delicious. I really enjoyed the red wine braised short ribs. Also our server had amazing customer service. I definitely would recommend if you are looking to have a good time!
I love the variety of food options available. Weve been to a few spaces like this around the Midwest, but Ive never seen one with so much region-specifc options. Chicago is known for many flavors, so this is a fantastic spot to take out-of-town guests. We all shared from each others plates, and some were better than others. The ordering system is easy, and you get a text when your order is ready. Mine sat under a heat lamp for a long time, so it was hot (even the cold sides) but also dried out.Ill definitely be back many times.
I hosted a birthday party here last month and had a wonderful time! We were all impressed with the service, especially from Erin who helped make everything seamless. The food was good, but its really all about the cocktails. Also, the colorful decorations and moody atmosphere are a vibe!
Heard good things about this place and funally decided to book a table. You would find mixed reviews of this place, and majority of people have said and I agree, place is little overpriced.Food was decent, we ordered cacio o pepe, artisan bread trio and kale salad. Their old fashioned was also decent (def i have had better) ,For desseet we tried choco lava and it was really really good.I would rate them 3.5 for food and 5 for ambiance (quite unique and really chic).Met with their chef, very humble and modest guy.
Went on a Sat night for Latin Dancing . Mix mostly consisted of Cumbia, merengue, sprinkle of bachata and salsa. Mostly young crowd from like 21-30 yrs old. People knew how to dance so dress accordingly and bring your best dance moves. Floor was getting pretty crowed around 1030 pm, they opened up a second dance room about 3 times the size of the original room we were in. I like how they had their AC on full blast. Kept it nice and cool in there.Drink service was decent, waited about 3 songs to get my drink 🍸. About $20 a cocktail I felt was pretty steep considering the size, but its Fulton market... DJ was ight .. he would play hits but then he would mix some songs that seemed to lose the interest of the crowd...IMO. Floor was packed all night regardless. First time here , would recommend for date night or small group of friends.
Fulton Market Kitchen is a modern restaurant in the West Loop of Chicago that focuses on international dishes with an infusion of local produce and modern techniques. I ordered the red wine braised short ribs, and they were delicious, tender to the taste buds.Flavor profiles are diverse throughout the menu, and the cocktail list is made with fresh-pressed juices, daily foraged herbs, and small-batch spirits.A lively art culture is an essential aspect of FMK, with monthly artists’ performances, live sessions, and gallery performances contributing to the energetic vibe. The space itself is a work of art, which has been described by Chicago Magazine.Whether you are tasting extraordinary cocktails and delicious appetizers or visiting art performances, FMK is an artful space with colorful and original divans. The dining rooms are flexible to allow private dining, wedding functions, and many others, thus suitable for any event. Absolutely loved it, if you want a memorable experience go for it.
The inside of the restaurant had a nice, dark aesthetic - lit candles, palm plants, central bar and DJ. In terms of the service, it was great. Our server Alex B was very attentive and came to check on our table frequently without overdoing it. In terms of the food, it was overpriced and disappointing. I tried the bread service, truffled burrata, Tuscan penne, tuna sashimi, and smashed and fried potatoes. The only tasty item was the bread because it had a garlic spread. Everything else was very underwhelming.
This is the most unique looking restaurant \ bar Ive visited. Its so busy design wise. The FMK meatballs are delicious 😋 Ill be ordering them again soon. Cant wait to visit Chicago again to eat at FMK
Ive walked by here a few times and decided to give it a try with my wife. They were pretty busy for a Friday night but we still got a table quickly. The prices were average but the food was great. We will definitely be back.
I went to this place with my family to celebrate my wifes graduation hoping to have a good time, eat great food, and celebrate her great accomplishment. The restaurants art, decor, music, and vibe were all great! Just like most restaurants nowadays, they are great for influencers and the pictures turn out amazing, but the food.... It was a total DECEPTION.. I guess that is the normal these days: cool looking places for social media pictures/posts, but they lack quality everywhere else. Every time we ordered, it literally took 20 minutes or more to get our order, even for a coffee! All the food lacked quality and taste. Everything looked amazing but did not taste the same. My $90 fish came undercooked, the desserts were all left on the table, thats how good they were (I hope you get my sarcasm).. I will only come back to this place just to have a few drinks and look at cool art. If you want great food, run away and go somewhere else... and stay away from this place... Or from Fulton Market overall.. most places here have cool looks but lack quality and service. I guess that is what social media has done to restaurants. If I could give 0 stars to this place I would, but I liked the art and the music; because of that, they get one ⭐
Stopped for Happy Hour, specials only on Wine & Cocktails, told the bartender I didn’t drink liquor and he said he could make me a cocktail, huh??? Saw Chef’s Pesto Popcorn was promoted for HH the week before, bartender wasn’t aware…interesting art inside, but once the sun goes down and no natural light the resto gets too dark for me. Has an outside constructed patio.
I’ve came here with my Fiancé last week and LORD when I tell you this is best restaurant you could go to in Chicago, I mean it my fiancé and I both got the “sticky finger” chicken wings and it was just heaven in our mouths, we don’t usually like to go out to public places BUT the atmosphere was so dope that our anxiousness was non existent. 10/10 & the workers were top tier very nice people :)
The decor is the only thing that saves this place. We had a dinner for 5, before going to an art event and had to rush to eat before leaving, even though we had been there for 1.5hrs. The food was average, don’t be impressed by the ambience, because they don’t match. The service was poor and showed lack of training, highlighted by the removal of our used appetizer plates, by basically sliding the dirty silverware on our table. The evening was good just because we were among friends. We won’t go back to this restaurant.
First time at this restaurant brought the wife food was delicious and they didnt skimp on the portions. The waiter was very attentive the entire time. You earned yourself a repeat customer will definitely be recommending
First time checking out this place and had a great experience. Our server was patient, helpful and enhanced our experience! The charred octopus was cooked to perfection and then finished off with their salmon!
Had a work event here a couple weeks ago and it was so fun! The staff was phenomenal and really kind and helpful. The food was delicious and the drinks were really good. I adored the Corpse Reviver cocktail and would definitely come back to try it again. Their risotto was also amazing. Check it out!
How it started: This place is swanky, colorful, and hip. The vibe was grown and sexy. A nice groove. Diverse crowd. Since we had a reservation, we were shown to our table and offered water and menus. Very nice. Comfy half booths and tables with chairs. Our party was comfortable, but the smallish tables for our party of 3 were a little awkward when it was time to share our sharable plates. (More on that later). We perused the menu. I ordered the dealers choice drink. It was a great gamble. My drink was yummy! How it went: We ordered a nice assortment, shrimp baguettes, brussel sprouts, a meatball, truffled burrata and cacio e pepe. Mostly everything was really tasty, my favorite was the burrata. Others really enjoyed the sprouts. The pasta wasnt a favorite for any of us, and went mostly uneaten. It just wasnt a typical cacio e pepe. More like a fettuccine Alfredo 😒 about the tables... because there were 2 smallish tables right next to each other and we were talking, shuffling plates about, and socializing the tables were somewhat of a nightmare. The utensils fell thru when the tables got too far apart. 2 of us dropped our napkins, lol. That kind of deal. Other than that, no big issue. How it ended: the meal was enjoyable and filling. Sharing was a great suggestion from Kelsie. She was polite, patient, and the perfect hostess for our night out and first visit. We opted to not have dessert, but since we were celebrating a special occasion, we were offered a cheesecake. It was an amazingly special touch ❤️ and so appreciated. And so: I would definitely return to FMK and would recommend for a night out with friends, date night, or for a quick cocktail at the bar. The vibe is pleasant. Note, parking is a nightmare at dinnertime and FMK does not have valet. Plan ahead. Spothero or something.
21% Service charge, Mandatory Coat Check (?).First accused me of not paying, and I had to ask them where my credit card & ID were because I had opened a tab and left it with them. They were able to find it but it was just the opposite of a fun experience.Very Instagram friendly but thats it. Food is good, but the bar service wasnt the best & at these prices there are other much more chill places.
The scenery is so beautiful, the staff were very polite and fast on their feet also the food is amazing. A very different type of menu I will definitely be coming back
The atmosphere is so beautiful, the staff was very nice and professional. The food was delicious. I highly recommend I will most definitely be coming back
Not your ordinary Market. For sure one of the best mussels and oysters I have ever had. And Im from Fla so that says a lot in my book. Thanks for all the hard work yall
This is exactly what charred Octopus is supposed to taste like. It was delicious and tender seasoned to perfection😮💨 I’ll definitely be coming back again 10/10 highly recommend!
I traveled many miles to Chicago from Detroit to try out their food because a friend of mine recommended me to them because he took his date there and couldn’t stop talking about it so I went and I tried out there crispy fingerling potatoes and had a little bit of a grill shrimp 2 weeks ago and when I say the food and the service was superb I’m definitely coming back again
Great service and the food is amazing , If you want a memorable time in a good place this is the one ! dont forget to try the watermelon tomato feta salad .
I was one time the place just look good and that’s it. Ridiculous food. The second time the day was there I was left my card open and they are still charging me for my card same thing in the 3 time definitely not not recommend.
If you are woman or femme attending their after hours events, expect to be subjected to a “mandatory coat $5 check policy” that management made up to please male patrons.if you have a male friend who can advocate for you, they might let you off the hook. once you enter the club, you will see coats galore, despite the bad-attitude-having coat lady up front.it’s not cute and misogynistic as hell.
Hands down, some of the best food I’ve had! From the drinks to the meal they use the freshest ingredients, I’m still dreaming about their Hella smash burger!
I was really looking forward to havin a good time but unfortunately did not. They over price the drinks and don’t even put enough liquor in the drink and got the nerve to charge tax and gratuity for every drink. I don’t mind paying for good drinks but I’m highly upset. Food was the only thing good.
THIS RESTAURANT IS AMAZING. A GREAT EXPERIENCE ALL AROUND. FROM THE GREETINGS, TO THE STAFF, TO THE FOOD. THE HELLA SMASH BURGER WAS JUICY AND DELISH, AND THE DRY MARTINIS WERE STRONG, BUT MADE WELL.
Bottomless brunch: $35 no refund fee. Food is ordered with your server but mimosas are served in a cup at the bar. Which you have to keep getting up to get. And to come in there’s a wait. Even with reservation and not many people. Which already takes away 15 mins away from 12-2 bottomless mimosas. Lastly the theme is reggueton. And yet the DJ plays a mix of everything mostly RnB and hip hop. Very confused and very disappointed
We were there for NYE. I do not recommend it at all. Salad, starter and main course all three sucked. I mean you have to be especially terrible at your job to screw up a salad. Drinks that came with the NYE party were absolutely bottom shelf. The burlesque show advertised was completely off key.
The filet mignon was incredible! Service was very good as well. I was impressed with the entire experience. I will definitely be back!
I Loved This Place A Unique Restaurant & The Atmosphere Is Incredible I Had The Red Wine Braised Short Rib It Was Delicious It Was Definitely Worth The Price So I Recommend Totally
My coat was taken from the coat check apparently! do not come here! Negligent staff and negligent management.A group of us purchased tickets to the penthouse here for the New Year’s Eve burlesque masquerade event.Upon arrival they had a mandatory coat check. On our way out I couldn’t find my ticket for the coat check. The girls working the coat check said to me “ no ticket, no coat.” Which I understood. so I left without a problem. The very next morning I woke up and found my ticket. This is where I have a problem. The next morning I call the place to tell them about how I didn’t get my coat because I didn’t have my ticket, but now I have my ticket and I’d like to come and pick up my coat (which was left there THE NIGHT BEFORE may I remind you). They apparently lost my 600 dollar coat. They couldn’t locate it. After calling numerous times looking to speak to management, and after sending emails. I FINALLY was able to reach a manager. He reassured me that he understood my frustration and that the coat should be there somewhere. However, it’s been days now and they still haven’t found my coat.My problem isn’t even about the coat at this point it’s about the principle.Their rules: “no ticket- no coat”.So now I have my ticket.. but where’s my coat? Where did it go?It’s gone the VERY next morning apparently..I warn everyone about this place because this was shady. Very shady and VERY unprofessional. They can keep the coat. We will never return to this sketchy place where things are honestly and most likely…stolen.
We went to Fulton market kitchen for a birthday dinner, and cannot recommend it enough! We had a large party of 11 and were treated so well by everyone, they really made it such a special night. The food was incredible - all of us said it was one of the best meals we have ever had. The atmosphere was lovely, the drinks were amazing, the staff were so kind and accommodating. If you’re getting the cacio e pepe (which you should), pay the extra for the shrimp, it’s really special. Thanks so much for an unforgettable night, if I’m in Chicago again I will be paying another visit! Also - I am still thinking about the bread we had to start! :)
We came here for dining in the dark experiance.Parking is nowhere to be found.Atmosphere in the main hall is kind of good. But when the experiance started we have been dumb founded, not a single word was possible to understand. Music from the main hall and dining room mixes together, mic that the hostess was using was badly regulated and we could only hear shshshshhshs sounds.First, second and third courses of food were absolutely fenomenal, but desert has been something out of nightmares. All in all, would not recomend this place for dining in the dark.As a bar seems like a great place to go.
Had dinner here with a friend out of town. The room is spacious and cozy with tropical plants scattered around. I had tuna and my guest had the burger which he said was very good. I liked my tuna which was served with sautéed fennel among other veggies. Excellent! The wine and Aperol Spritz were perfect. I highly recommend the venue.
We were really excited to have a nice dinner here for my friends bachelorette weekend and we were unfortunately very disappointed. We made the reservation for 16 people at least 3 months in advance, so they knew we were a big group coming for a big celebration with plenty of time to be prepared. We arrive (to a very cool and different atmosphere) to be greeted after sitting for at least 5 minutes by our server… who we told it was our friends bachelorette (and point out the bride to be) and it took over 20 minutes to get our first round of drinks. And to stay on the topic of drinks, the server never came back around asking if anyone wanted another round, especially the bride, and we all had to wave him down to ask for another drink. Mind you the drinks are around $15 so you’d think the server would be on it and not let us all sit with empty drinks all night. Then we had to ask about how the menu worked and what the portions were like and the server seemed to not have a clue, he couldn’t clearly explain the portions and how he would recommend us ordering. Then he proceeded to tell one person (who told the rest of us, because the server was like whispering to each person instead of ever addressing us as a group) that they were out of two of the main meat dishes, and the menu is not large so that literally cut the options almost in half for the main courses. Our reservation was for 7pm and like I said we made this reservations months in advance for 16 people, it is expected that they would be prepared to have everything listed on the menu available for us. I am a waitress in a restaurant in California and have a lot of experience with these kind of large dinner parties and for a restaurant of this scale and specialty this experience was completely ridiculous and dissatisfying. To really top it off, the Brussels were all undercooked and hard, four orders of them. And then when we were all done we didn’t see the server for a good 15 minutes and when he finally came back I asked for the check and then he disappeared for another 15 minutes and came back with a stupid dessert with candles for the bride, and not the check!! We wanted to leave, everyone barely enjoyed their meals and pretty much had one drink in the two hours we were there. One of us had to literally go find the server to pay the bill. And of course it was auto gratuity because of the size of our party. But the service was horrendous, the food was subpar and overall the experience was really disappointing. I expected way more. They do not handle large groups well, maybe it’s different for smaller groups but they need to know what they can and cannot handle and just shouldn’t have let us reserve our party of 16 because they could not handle it. I likely won’t give them another chance, unfortunately.
For whatever reason we were able to walk in on Friday evening and get a seat. We were worried that we have came to the wrong place, but not the case!Very cool vibe and special decors! It was an experience looking everything they have on the walls and the details to it.Would definitely go for a family style and share the dishes. The food seems to be fusion with different elements, but does not disappoint.
Spent my birthday here with friends and it was the best decision! Drinks were amazing, food was amazing, severs/ bartenders were amazing and so was the manager!! As for the ambiance and and style of restaurant, that’s a 100/10. Highly recommend if you want to experience a place that’s truly different than any other restaurant in Fulton !
The atmosphere is nice but the service is terrible . You’re charging for a transaction surcharge for everything . Also a credit card surcharge , a service charge lol like be serious then you don’t know how to make drinks
At first it didnt seem like I needed to make a reservation. Fifteen minutes later I was happy I did. We arrive at 6pm on a Friday night. The food was great. We had the Bread service and kale salad to start. For dinner we had crispy brussel sprouts, truffle butter whipped potatoes and a Crab gnocchi. It was all very good but that gnocchi was the MVP. I ate so much of it that I didnt have room for dessert. I had it anyway. Trio of house made sorbets, how could I not? Anyway, its a great spot for a date/date night.
Omg if your rich definitely go .. if not please dont..Omg a Don julio Blanco Margarita 🍹 was 50 for 2 smh why.
Alright….gonna get to the point . Good ambiance. Waiter was great, ordered one dish that was a bit salty but they took care of it. Food was meh! You’re really paying for the ambiance. Get the check and they decide to add a 4%cc fee. Only after I called them out on it. Mgr comes out to the table and says we can waive it if you pay cash. Like really? Thanks for embarrassing me in front of my family. I only wanted to give it to the waiter because I know the restaurant wouldn’t. I only told the waiter so I guess I know who threw me under the bus. I guess times have changed!
Love the healthy options they were all delicious and the drinks are very unique and tasty! The atmosphere and decor is very eclectic, sexy and fancy. A great mix of ambiance! Services was on point.
I’ve been coming here for years… since they opened. We had great times, great music and great food and drinks but it was all in the past.Wait staff was exceptional as always, but the dining experience was mediocre at best. Half inch pork chop is not a pork chop and 2 ounce martini is not a martini. I’m not complaining because it was expensive, I want my proper pork chop and proper martini and you can darn well charge me double and I’ll be leaving happy. This place needs a sensible management, and till then I won’t be visiting.
Literally the worst restaurant in Chicago. Overpriced food that came out cold and overcooked. Cocktails never came when we reorder them. Service is just awful. Plain awful. At the end the server came with the card machine so we could pay our bill but never actually showed the bill to us...Have no idea what we paid for... There were several drinks that we decided to send back since they came out almost an hour after we ordered them just about when we were leaving. They werent supposed to be on the bill but we had no way of confirming. We had a party of 6 and of course we were automatically charged 20% service charge. Maybe thats the reason the server didnt really bother to provide even half way decent service because he was getting paid a nice tip anyway. I wish I knew how bad this place is before making a reservation and ruining my Saturday night outing.
I love the experience and the food trucks around after hours are amazing
Charges $5 for water and automatically charge an extra 18% service fee when ordering drinks
Had a dinner pre ordered and planned for a group of 18. It was absolutely perfect. Food, service, ambiance. Portion sizes were shockingly large. We loved it!
The ambiance is great and the deco catches your eye. However, for the price of the food and drinks, it is very mediocre and quite dry. The food lacks a bit of flavor, but the worst part was the quality of the food was comparable to a chilis, applebees, red robin, etc...
Unbelievably beautiful and artsy restaurant, such a hidden west loop gem! I absolutely loved the food, the unique atmosphere that I’ve only been able to experience at Fulton Market Kitchen! This place is so much different than all the other restaurants and the staff is great! Richard, the general manager is extremely accommodating and has been very caring and attentive to details, which was extremely important in such a sensitive time we live in! The food is great too and the presentation was gorgeous! They have plenty of private rooms so you can enjoy an intimate event with your loved ones in such a charming atmosphere! I loved the restaurant and will make it a regular spot!
Stopped by here for drinks on ST Patricks day. Had some cool specialty drinks and the bartender was really welcoming.
Group of 6 of us celebrating my daughters birthday. Visited 6pm Sept 18. First of all, not much to look at from outside. Parked in the parking structure behind the restaurant a block away and had to walk past all the dumpsters next to the restaurant. Not a very good first impression. Building painted a weird black and white pattern. Hmmm. Made our way around front and were seated at a round table right near the front. Would have preferred something a little more private, but whatever. Inside decor was amazing. Talked to the server and found out lots of local artists work on the walls, many for sale. Very unusual art, but cool nonetheless. The bar is amazing. Completely built of suitcases. Cant even describe it. Go take a look. Very unusual and creative. So the server was great. Receipt says his name is Hud. Very helpful and efficient. VERY unusual menu. We had checked online and Im glad we did. Definitely check it out before you go. Menu combinations Id never seen before and might not be for everyone. Im adventurous so I loved it. All of us found something on the menu wed enjoy which was great. The meals were prepared very well with lots of interesting flavors. Everyone at the table raved about the flavor combinations. Didnt order dessert as we were all too full and didnt want to carry something out. Also, prices were on the high end for the ingredients but the creativity made it worth it. Bill for 6 people over $280. Might be typical for Chicago. Not sure. Overall really good time. Food, ambience, service great. Dumpsters and loud section of dining room not so much. I wouldnt recommend for a quiet romantic meal but for a fun night out itd be on my list.
This spot was upscale and enjoyable. We had a great night sitting outside and enjoyed several of their signature cocktails. Our waitress Madeline was extremely helpful, polite, attentive, and made our night. The experience wouldn’t have been the same without her and greatly appreciated her hospitality. She was the best Fulton Market Kitchen has to offer.
The last time I dined here was January 2020 during restaurant week. I loved it so much I vowed to return but, the pandemic derailed another visit last year. This time around I have mixed reviews. The service was excellent. Thank you Hud. I had the mussels frites, and while the fries were good, the sauce or broth for the mussels was bland and the dish should be served with rustic bread. My husband ordered the risotto, which was horrible. It was not risotto at all. No creaminess and worst of all no flavor. The best part of our meal was the little gem salad. If I had ordered just that, I would have been happy. The salad was delicious. There was a mishap with one of our orders and the chef came to the table to greet us and apologize. Fulton Market Kitchen has potential but definitely needs to improve the menu.
Great food and ambience .. the artisanal bread was worth trying with the jame being the best part .. the staff was really nice. Salad portions were a bit small but was good . Tried the one with the Anjou pear. For entree had the gnocchi which was good . Also my partner tried the pot roast which was real good . The meat was so tender that you didn’t need a knife. Dessert was ok. Staff was really friendly and very attentive.
1. Discrimination against certain people2. They will charge you a mandatory 20% tip3. They will charge you over 3% credit card processing fee ( never had that before in a US restaurant )Food and drinksCocktails were good with couple of exceptions.Food is ok.Ambiance okService - be prepared to get interrupted by the bus boys literally every 5 minutes to fill up your water glass after every sip
Security told me the owner said my 2 inch tattoo above my eyebrows will not allow to enter so they discriminate people with face tattoo assuming we are bad people I guess
Great service attention to details. Music a bit too loud if you plan to dine into 9ish
Food was really hit or miss. The raw oyster preparation was bad. They tried something different and failed. Oyster lovers skip that dish. The babaghanoush was similarly meh. The rest was good, but overpriced. Also, waiters were dropping and breaking glasses left and right and the service was unprofessional overall. Our waiter stated the price of the meal for our entire table (and probably the table next to us) to hear. Pretty thoughtless for someone trying to treat someone to a dinner. You can imagine the subsequent fight over who was going to pick up the check. How much you ask? About $550 for 5 people and we were still hungry after (ok, that might just be because were insatiable, but still). Not worth it in my opinion.
What on earth did I experience last night…. We came to this restaurant as a suggestion from a local and it was… so bad. The place had a very weird vibe posing as a nice restaurant yet mixed with a club and had a DJ playing weird music, very loudly. We had a reservation for a party and showed up at our reservation time and was seated relatively quickly but it took forever for someone to take our drink orders - then took forever to bring us 2 drinks (only 2 people ordered one right away) - then it took forever for them to come back and take our food orders. I ordered the hard apple cider and it did not taste like apple at all. We ended up later ordering the Smoke & Mirrors and it was tasty enough but smelled like bleach and hurt our stomachs. The food came and it looked decent but it was not good. The only thing that was good was the brussels sprouts appetizer. I got the soy glazed chicken with roasted carrots and ramen. The chicken was very tough (likely over cooked), the carrots were NOT fully roasted (only the tips were, the rest of it was basically raw and so hard that not even the steak knife could cut through them), and the ramen was literally ONE forkful. My boyfriend ordered the New York strip steak, which was just a ribeye cut to look like it, asked to be cooked medium and it was still very bloody. I ate maybe half of my dish and my stomach started feeling really gross. We got a ride home before the rest of the party because I was feeling so gross and made it just in time and I literally threw up when we got to the hotel and felt so much better once I got the food and gross drink out of my system. I am surprised at all these goods reviews - our experience was really not good.
A group of colleagues decided this was the place to go for our dinner. When I saw the review I thought. Shoot - there are a lot of other places better rated than here. It must not be that great.Overall though I’d say it’s on par with the rating. It’s average. The space is funky. The servers are alright, the food is alright, the drinks are… alright.
Horrible experience long wait time for a food delivery waiter totally distracted and inattentive had to ask for refills on everything. no flavors vegetables over cooked gnocchi boiled with no flavor. Overpriced. No comments on food or suggestions on wine re-orders. Will not return loved it pre-Covid. Too many good restaurants in the area this restaurant will not survive very long. Everyone else on and patio was complaining about the service how horribly bad it was
Literally one of the worst places I have ever done . I normally do not give reviews but I have never experienced anything like what I did . Our waiter had such a nasty attitude and it all started over something they had posted on there social media about a promotion. Literally tried to gaslight us that it’s only on certain days when it clearly says EVERYDAY for the month of March after 8 pm . To make things worse it took them two hrs to service our food !!! Others who can after us were served and they ordered the same things ! We informed the manager but she was no help . This was for a birthday and it was notated we were celebrating a birthday . The table next to us they brought out a birthday dessert and everything and when we we asked that same waiter told us they do anything for birthdays like we didn’t just see you bring out a desert with candles singing happy birthday! So we told him we just saw you give them something . Another 20 mins later he brought out some like piece of what looked like cake and spoonful of melted ice cream and he charged us for it too ! Didn’t tell us he would and when we brought it up snatched the check from my friend . This whole evening was unacceptable. Get it together !!!! Never will go back here . The food was horrendous too and overpriced !
The restaurant without food!!! Big let down - we expected great food instead they barely had any food. The restaurant was out of pasta, burgers, butter- i’m confused how are they even in businessThe waiter had no idea what they did have and what they were out of, so we spent over an hour ordering items just to find out that they were out of!!Finally found food that they actually were not out of only to get let down again by its taste - the mussels were soft, overly cooked and the steak was served cold- no one asked how the food was or even tried to apologize for unacceptable experienceThe drinks were good but again this is a restaurant not a cocktail bar! They seem to be understaffed- a simple thing as asking for a glass of water would take 20minThey should have stayed closed- plenty of places around them with fantastic food!
Very bad service, specially the hosting, they let us seat on the bar and half of the tables were empty.Stay away from this place, it’s really not worth it to spend your money here.
I cannot say enough about Richard and his amazing team! As an event planner, I work in so many venues and really appreciate great service and friendly knowledgeable professionals. From the initial conversation through the close of the event, we experienced first class hospitality and top notch service, not to mention delicious food and a memorable experience. You can really tell that the staff loves their job, but people as well. I would absolutely work with Richard and his team again!
I had the arugula salad, which came with a “vinaigrette”, but it was drenched in a creamy dressing. The apple cider gelee in the salad was totally unnecessary. The ricotta dumplings was nothing more than a gnocchi…pretty underwhelming. The steak tartar and bread apps were good. This place is definitely not worth the money.
The service was great. Sat at the bar for brunch and really enjoyed it. The food however is overpriced and underwhelming. Ordered the chorizo hash and its potato base was French fries. Found this to be very lazy and made it hard to eat. There was probably only 2 ounces of the chorizo which at a $20 dish is very skimpy. In short, Ill come back for some cocktails but Ill come on a full stomach.
Agree with all previous reviews:- Price does not align with quality of food- decor is the best quality of this place- portions are AMAZINGLY small. We ordered 3 appetizers and 3 entrees for 3 people and all left hungry. Many places I would pick for the money before every coming back here.
Delicious food and drinks, really top notch. Very cool art and decor, adds to the charm of the experience. Highlights: black manhattan, hamachi sashimi, Amish chicken but honestly everything was fantastic. Service couldn’t have been better too. An underrated gem.
Easily one of the worst service experiences i have had. They charged us gratuity automatically and 100% took advantage of it. I think i saw my waiter twice. I’m never coming back here. First time was the same but it was new and Covid so i gave them a pass but this experience was far worse - and worst I’ve had ever maybe.
I spent $170 on buttered noodles and microwaved Cauliflower with curry seasoning. Our waiter was super nice, loved him, and the host, loved her. BUT YIKES...... GREAT LOCATION TO GET TRICKED
Wow, what a find, interesting decor and good service, but the food is the true standout. My wife and I shared several dishes with a friend and each was better than the last. Grilled octopus was my personal favorite.
Great food, fresh and creative. Cocktails as well. Happy hour dishes are really well priced and have yet to have something I didnt like. Really cool art shows and excited for upcoming events!
Nice place, good food and drinks. Limited menu. The duck toast and the shrimp squer make a good starter. The pasta was not my favorite but it was tasty.
I have to admit the service I received from FMK was phenomenal! I’ve never been more impressed! *applause* The entire layout in scenery was just beautiful and I loved the vibrancy given in its atmosphere!! Before I forget to mention let me say how YUMMY the dishes they prepare are!! If you’re like me and always go for the basic meal, then I would highly recommend to get the steak, (sooo juicy) mashed potatoes, and watermelon tomato feta salad!!! You just can’t go wrong with any of those!!! Definitely give this restaurant and the crew behind it all, a BIG thumbs up!!!
The decor is beautiful inside. The outside patio is not so beautiful. Came for brunch, portions are so small you need to go to brunch after this brunch. There are so many other great places nearby, wish we skipped this one.
Food was excellent, the roasted chicken came with a ravioli-like pasta that was filled with a chicken leg confit and I haven’t had anything like it before. Must get in my opinion.Service was slow and forgot several things and had to be reminded but would return for the food.
This place is really hyped on tik tok but doesn’t live up to it. It’s not an art gallery it just has pictures up. The food was served cold. Drinks were ok. Super strong. You’re just paying for the ambiance. Super expensive and the waiter stepped on me. Awkward.
My fiancé and I had planned to have our wedding dinner here in late August following the small ceremony we were going to have. Unfortunately, we were told a few days ago that our venue could no longer hold our ceremony due to COVID, and the travel restrictions (us being from SC.) While every other business we had lined up was understanding and willing to work out a deal so that we wouldn’t lose thousands of dollars on a wedding we wanted to have but couldn’t, Fulton Market Kitchen was unwilling to do so. Communication was already difficult because they had burned through event managers three times in a few months. It was supposed to be the best day of our lives. We had paid beyond the deposit (by over a thousand dollars) to stay on track and act more as a payment plan as my fiancé is a chef and has been out of work for months because of the global pandemic. Some of this was gift money provided by our parents, however.. we will never see the fruit of this deposit as we cannot reschedule because of the circumstances, and we also cannot make use of a $2,000 credit from across the country. When we spoke to Richard, Director of Operations, in between the snarky statement he was making, had told us that they were keeping every cent. I completely understand that businesses are having a rough time.. again, we’ve lost half our income, but what we paid past the deposit shouldn’t be a loss due to a global pandemic that no one saw coming. Profiting from a couple’s misfortune on something completely out of their hands is just wrong. Simply wrong. I would never recommend Fulton Market Kitchen solely based on the morals alone.
Where to begin? First let me make a few things clear. We had no choice but to cancel our wedding. The venue at which the ceremony was going to be held canceled due to safety concerns over Covid-19. That same day Chicago officials announced that anyone traveling to the city from hotspots such as South Carolina would have to quarantine for 14 days. We cannot afford to spend 14 days in a Chicago hotel nor would we want to, plus how is a 14 day quarantine supposed to mesh with a wedding? This was all on July 6th, the same day we notified you of the circumstances. Your customer service throughout the planning of this event has been abysmal. Every time weve had to contact you it takes 3-4 emails before we get any sort of response and when we do its only to find out that the coordinator we had been dealing with has been replaced without any notification to us. Yet you, as one of the owners sees fit to cite a Thank you in an email as unwavering proof of how pleased we are with your services, rather than what it is, which is just basic human courtesy on our behalf. Now, on the issue of contracts. Yes, the hold the date amount agreed to was $750, which has been paid and is not being disputed whatsoever. What is being disputed is thee amount past that which you see fit to keep without providing any service other than saving the date. I will also kindly point out, again, that you advertise your peak wedding season hold the date fee as being only $500 on several different platforms. If your policy has changed you should correct that on said platforms to reflect your new position on the matter. At no point during continuing to pay towards the event did we realize the contract was being amended to keep that money as well regardless of not providing any extra services beyond holding the date. I will ALSO point out that you are only one of eight separate businesses involved in this wedding. Every one of those eight businesses has contracts with us as well stipulating that refunds would not be given upon a cancellation of the event. However, every one of those contracts were also missing a policy or clause pertaining to a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. Therefore, because of that, and because those seven other businesses are owned and operated by understanding and reasonable individuals, every one of those contracts were amended and refunds were given. Fulton Market kitchen is the only one out of EIGHT to refuse to work with us on this situation. Now, to the point of you being just a small business trying to get by... Youre the largest entity involved in this event out of the eight businesses. The salon, baker, photographer, and florist are all extremely small businesses and were still gracious and willing to work with us on this matter. You are a hospitality group in Chicago with at least 9 locations. On the matter of safety and precaution; you encouraged us to go through with the reception despite travel restrictions and having no place to have the ceremony. You even encouraged us to have even more people attend while shattering Covid-19 records on a daily basis. This being a wedding, many of the guests in attendance are seniors and people who are immunocompromised. Now, while you as a business might be willing to move forward and put these people at risk, I am not. Just a few days ago the United States Center for Disease Control recommended against gatherings of over 10 people, but youre comfortable with more than 50 people in one place including your own staff. As of this very morning, the Mayor of Chicago has announced that bars will not be able to serve alcohol indoors as of Friday, also indicating that further restrictions may come in the future. Does that sound like a fun wedding reception to you at all?I will now end on this note... I have given the most honest and accurate review of my experience with Fulton Market Kitchen. For you, as one of the owners, to now turn around and accuse me publicly of it being nothing more than slander is both shameful and irresponsible to the highest degree.
Worst restaurant I’ve ever been too, the food is awfully bad for it to be so expensive. The waiter had an attitude. Then, when we mentioned no onions on our plate and when we got our plate there were onions, there was loud music playing and it was just a bad experience everybody seemed so unwelcoming & an unpleasant vibe
We waited for quite a while but my pasta was apparently overcooked. Moreover the waiter forgot my friend’s dish - even without this mess the overall service was really mediocre. It’s overpriced and I don’t think I’ll go back again.
Smelly pasta and half cooked shrimp. Food was served within few minutes of order.
Besides the decor being trendy, it’s impossible to give a higher rating to this restaurant. Food is expensive, not great quality and the quantity is minimal. I understand being gourmet but this is a bit of a joke.
Went there with lots of hope to checkout the food. Unfortunately, this place looked liked abandoned. A person was smoking outside and he went right inside the kitchen as soon as we went there. There was a sign that mentioned delivery only. No info on where and how to order!!
The atmosphere is nice, food is good, great cocktails but the portions for our group were small.
The absolute best customer service from the waiter all the way to the manager. The hospitality shown by Alex was amazing. Food was a 15/10. Highly recommend.
Nice place, good service, very limited menu.! An ok place for a younger arriviste type of crowd, but would probably not go there again. Food can be better.
Great venue with a fun menu!
Great place to go for dinner with friends. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Though the menu was smaller, we left very satisfied with their options.
Ive been here three times and every time its a disappointment. The service is very disorganized and they have forgotten to enter entree orders two out of the three times weve been there. It took about an hour for the food to come out and the burger and fries were cold when delivered to the table.
Love the location and the food. The service was super slow and less attentive the last 2 times I went. I would go back for drinks at the bar.
Service couldve been better a lot on the drink menu wasnt available, server couldnt answer my questions either, but the food was absolutely incredible!
Food overpriced. Service mediocre. Salmon tartine was NOT good. I expected delicious food based on small menu.
Quality was far from worth the price for food. Go next door instead. Drinks were also very watered down. The staff were nice tho
Great food and service, and very friendly staff. I also like decorations,I think that is why you need to visit it too see all those paintings
Adult Happy Meal on the happy hour menu is probably the best deal in West Loop. The burger patty they serve in the Wagyu burger is awesome.
It was a really great atmosphere and great service but the food and cocktails didn’t match the price.
Service is bad, staff is rude, would never come back, would never recommend
Definitely would recommend. Great food, ambiance and service was excellent.Ask to take tour of the entire restaurant. Fantastic decor and art.
Great Friday night Latin spot
No one there when I came. Skinny guy with big shirt tried to charge $30 lol
Excellent food and service, Great art decorations.Very nice and comfortable place to eat and drink.Wonderful staff.
Good food and drinks. The place has a unique and good vibe. Really enjoyed it overall
Had a great evening here with colleagues! Ambience is nice and the food was good. I do think the place is a bit overpriced
Decor is nice, but food is just okay and overpriced. The cheese & charcuterie plate was a disappointment.
Nice atmosphere, nice artwork. Food is bland & not many choices. I would return only for the drinks
Too bad I couldnt give 0 stars. If you go at the club in the evening, be sure youll be charged extra extra $$$$ than youre expecting.
Fabulous!! Hudd took excellent care of of us!! We were celebrating my born-day! Can nor wait 2 go back!!!!
Good and service was great but I wish food portion sizes were larger.
Great place for a Sunday brunch. Not too many options but the ones on the menu were pretty good.
Portions are way too small for the price. Asparagus for example was 3 stalks....really? Entree was tiny too.
Want to like this place more, they have a great ambiance. Just seems like the food and drink are just ok.
The outside area has no atmosphere (one of sides) and food and drinks were just ok. Expected more for the price
Really nice atmosphere. Small menu but theyre expanding it. Good Staff.
Lovely team dinner here, great location, food and drink
Smelled horrible as their outdoor tables are next to the garbage bins, service was so slow, they messed up our orders, food came about 5 minutes apart, somehow you can’t order any other drinks except those on the menu during brunch, that’s insane as they have a full bar, their kitchen closes for about an hour as they need “get everything ready for dinner” never heard a restaurant do this before, overall a mess, will never go back.
This place has the best food ive had in Chicago, and I’ve been living here for a while. The service is also great.
An email saying that y’all were closed or not open today, after I made reservations for 1:30 today, and gave my credit card for my reservation. Could have made a reso for somewhere else that was open.
Great atmosphere. Food was okayThe match came dessert was great
Many options, good atmosphere
Way too many other places nearby that have better food + actual portion sizes for the price. Would not recommend.
Cool art vibe. Wonderful food. My 2nd time back and just as good as the first.
Very nice spot for a Holiday dinner. Parking is a challenge so give it some extra time
Amazing atmosphere. Amazing Chef. Great for both events and date night!
The food was delish. Our waiter was the best.
10/10 would do it again!
Unique mural. Not sure what to make of it. Food and wine were excellent.
